28 Aug 2023 | Episode 168 - The Grumpy Goat | 00:51:01
I am delighted to welcome to the Podcast, Anne-Marie from The Grumpy Goat in Reading. The Grumpy Goat opened in the quirky Harris Arcade near Reading station in 2013, in a tiny unit, where swinging a cat would have been very hazardous to the brilliant stocks of bottles, cans and cheeses! In Oct 2020, during the darkest days of COVID, they took the opportunity to move into a much larger shop unit, in Union Street, just off Reading's main pedestrianised shopping street. The new unit enabled a much larger stock of beers, wines and spirits, and also a significant expansion of the Deli side of the business. Finally, and most exciting of all, in August 2022, the Goat Tap was opened above the shop, which is where we are recording from today.

02 Jul 2021 | Episode 54 - Pentrich Brewing Co. (Re-)Visited | 00:42:44
I first interviewed Joe from Pentrich on the Podcast in Episode 15 in October 2020. At that time we got to talking about how Pentrich had built their reputation by putting "proper" heavily-hopped NEIPAs into keg. I expressed incredulity at this concept, and so Joe invited me to come and join him for a pint or two at the Alexandra Hotel in Derby, to see for myself. https://www.pentrichbrewing.com/ http://www.alexandrahotelderby.co.uk/ Fast forward through Lockdown #3, and I finally got the chance to take Joe up on his offer last week. I was also joined by my TWICB co-founder Steve, who has been known to be partial to a few pints himself! I hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we did recording it! I also hope you are inspired to make your own pilgrimage to the Alex! It is literally a short stagger from Derby Station, so very accessible by public transport. If you are a fan of NEIPAs and you haven't yet sampled Pentrich on cask, your education on the subject is incomplete! If you do follow in our footsteps, drop me a message and let me know how you found it? rob@thisweekincraft.beer
