01 Mar 202533 - Against the State by James Stout01:09:59

This podcast is a recording of a December 13, 2024 live reading and Q&A session conducted by our friend James Stout. James is one of the foremost investigative journalists working today in the foreign policy arena, reporting on things like the civil war in Myanmar against the military junta, and on migration through the Darien Gap.

In this presentation, James reads a chapter from his forthcoming book Against the State and takes questions about Rojava, revolution, and antifascism. Also during this event, James and Yellow Peril Tactical were able to raise almost $650 for the Kurdish Red Crescent (Heyva Sor a Kurd) and Tekoşîna Anarşîst, anarchist internationalists currently fighting in AANES against Turkish-funded forces.

We look forward to sharing more ways to support the struggle in Rojava on YPT this year!

09 Dec 20218 - Hevalti Tactical01:03:20

On this episode, Soju, John Chinaman, and podcast newcomer Hi-C talk to Jesse from Hevalti Tactical! Jesse makes innovative gear, shoots IDPA and USPSA competitively, and has a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.   You may recognize Jesse’s gear from Tacticool Girlfriend and his Instagram. Jesse explains to us his minimalist design philosophy and the challenges in being a “leftist” gear maker. And right now, there’s a lot of challenges in starting a business making quality gear.   A conversation with Jesse wouldn’t be complete without discussing competitive shooting. Jesse’s excellent at it, but even for a newer shooter, hear him explain why it’s a good way to challenge yourself and hone your skills. If this sounds like it’s for you, Jesse tells you how to get involved.   The last of Jesse’s passions we discussed is his considerable experience in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. It’s an excellent way to stay fit and learn unarmed self defense skills. If you’re in Jesse’s area, don’t hesitate to reach out, because he’s itching to share knowledge.   And the most important lesson we learned in our conversation — let your own failures inspire you.

22 Jul 202218 - Katon - USPSA Competitive Shooting01:14:23

In this week’s episode of the Tiger Bloc Podcast, the YPT folks talk more in-depth about competitive shooting. And who better to speak about it than Master Class USPSA Shooter, Katon?

Soju Operator, Chinaman, and finally returning Kalashnikoffing sit down with Katon to discuss the world of USPSA competitive shooting, the benefits of shooting in competition, the misconceptions “tactical” shooters have regarding competition shooting, how to shoot better, how to teach new shooters, and why Warrior Poet Society sucks.

Basically, think of firearms education without the baggage of shitty right wing politics.

SInce we last spoke, TCGF has grown her channel to over 62K subscribers, continued in gear review and training content, and competed in brutality matches with none other than Karl and Russell from Inrange TV. Recently she has had to unfortunately announce the end of future content product of her channel as she moves on to new endeavors in life.

Together, Soju Operator, Yoshiko, and TCGF reflect upon the past few years on firearms content on Youtube, the dynamics between companies and influencers, and the realities of leftist ownership of firearms.

04 Jan 20229 - Jake Hanrahan | Popular Front01:37:26

This week on the Tiger Bloc Podcast, we’re excited to share with you our conversation with Jake Hanrahan, the journalist best know for his conflict journalist project, Popular Front.  Popular Front reports on underreported conflicts from around the world. Jake has been all over, to places like Artsakh, Ukraine, and Rojava. We talked about what makes Popular Front unique — it’s entirely listener funded.   When examining global conflicts, one of the things that Jake shared with us was the democratization of anti-government techniques and strategies. From the use of commercial drones, to Internet forums to share strategies, and even 3D printing firearms from free plans online.

Of course, many of our followers may know Jake from his documentary Plastic Defense, where he spoke to JStark, one of the designers behind the Fuck Gun Control 9 (FGC-9). The FGC-9 is a special gun, one that can be assembled with a 3D printer and a pipe using no actual firearm parts.   In America, there’s a tendency for legacy media and American residents to view foreign conflicts through an American lens.

We talked about how legacy media not only ignores nuance, but so do Western leftists, disregarding nuance to fit preconceived ideological schema.   We also wanted to talk to Jake about his new podcast, Megacorp. On the show, Jake explores and exposes the behavior or the world’s most unethical corporations. And where better to start than Amazon.   We talked with Jake about how Amazon has managed to amass the powers one would normally associate with a state — vast wealth and a lack of accountability to any laws excepts its own. All while Amazon abuses workers, some of whom have died in its warehouses.   But how to stop it? Unionization would be the natural answer. But even though interest in unions is growing in the United States, the unionization rate overall remains low. And in the UK, the younger generation seems to have have lost interest.

This all may seem like unrepentant doomerism, but as Jake said, “If Rome fell this shit can.” What do young people have to lose?

22 May 202324 - Grizzly Medical01:03:12

Apologies for the hiatus! On this week’s episode of the Tiger Bloc Podcast, we feature a good friend and one of the best medical trainers in the business, Dan Bernal of Grizzly Medical!

Dan is a former US Army combat medic, having directly saved lives in missions as well as having taught Iraqi and Kurdish medics in joint combat operations. He also served as an on-site TCCC and EMT trainer. Recognizing a severe lack of knowledge for practical first aid training in the civilian world, Dan created Grizzly Medical. The company’s mission is to provide the latest in TCCC doctrine and combine this with live simulations in order to bring the most grounded, truth-to-life first-aid training possible to non-professionals.

Together, Soju Operator and Dan discuss the insufficiency of current Stop the Bleed training, why you should always be carrying a medical kit, medical misconceptions, first-hand experience in saving a man’s life, the tourniquet market, the value of live simulation training, and what his classes offer.

24 Sep 202326 - Puget Sound JB00:43:55
We are pleased to have several members of the Puget Sound Jöhñ Brôwń Gûñ Cłūb this week on the podcast. The club for several years has undertaken community defense efforts in the greater Seattle area. As the crew describes it, they undertake efforts that the state can’t or won’t do. Hear how the crew not only provides a visible security presence at actions, but assists with planning, deescalation, and medical assistance as a counter to hostile far right actors. You’ll hear community defense has evolved since 2020 beyond firearms, including efforts like sharing skills to others in the community. On a more lighthearted note, hear about love the G19, which YPT contributor is a better shooter (Snow or Rose?), plus radio selection (and surprising tattoos thereof). 15 Oct 20213 - Not.Yr.Boyfriend01:10:10

On this week’s episode of Yellow Peril Tactical: The Tiger Bloc Podcast, Soju Operator is once again joined by Snow and John Chinaman as they have a goofy but informative conversation with Odie, also known as, Not.yr.Boyfriend. Odie is a street medic, harm prevention activist, firearms instructor, content creator, and organizer based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Much of their work has been popularized through the Zines they’ve created that focus on mental health and relationship building as well as medical training.

Together, the YPT crew and Odie discuss on the ground community organizing, mental health considerations with firearms ownership, what the media refuses to cover about Minneapolis post-George Floyd, what community defense actually means, and stuff white people do.

28 Aug 202429 - Resistance in Ukraine Ft. Dmytro Mrachnik00:57:38

It’s great to be back with everyone on the Tiger Bloc Podcast! On this episode, John Chinaman interviews Ukrainian antifascist and anti-authoritarian Dmytro Mrachnik. Dmytro has been fighting in Ukraine since the full-scale Russian invasion in 2022. Please bear with us on the sound quality. With power and internet failures in Ukraine, this podcast had to be a recorded phone call.

Dmytro takes us back to 2014 and the Maidan Revolution, when he was hanging in the Kyiv punk rock scene. Dmytro gives us his perspective as a dual Russian and Ukrainian speaker and dispels myths about supposed discrimination against Russian speakers.

Dmytro describes how the left reacted to the Maidan and Russian invasion in 2014, and what changed in 2022 with an increased left wing response and militancy. As is depressingly common, Dmytro also relates the lack of an international left-wing response to assist the Ukrainian left, even two years after the full-scale invasion.

Dmytro also talks a bit about what army life is like. Dmytro fought in both the Kharkiv and Bakhmut fronts. Since joining the military, he’s actually risen in the ranks to first lieutenant. Listen to the podcast to learn about the experience of an antifascist in the military.

Dmytro is a prolific writer about politics and Ukrainian culture. You can find his writings on nihilist.li and Anarchist Library.

Find Dima on Instagram at @mrachnik, on Twitter at @dmrachnik, or email at dmrachnik@gmail.com. For more writings on Nihilist, check out the editor Romeo Kokriatski on Twitter at @VagrantJourno.

30 May 202325 - Kafa Ukrianian Drone Pilot00:53:29

On this week’s episode, John Chinaman was able to interview Ukrainian drone pilot and self described “queer disaster” Kafa. They are a non-binary anarchist who fought with the 93rd Mechanized Brigade in Bakhmut.

Content warning: this episode includes graphic descriptions of war, political repression, and violence.

Kafa told their story to YPT, from their journey growing up in Crimea, to fleeing after Russia’s 2014 invasion to Kyiv, to living in Berlin. They returned to Ukraine after Russia again invaded in 2022. They discuss what it’s like to be non-binary and an anarchist in the infantry.

Kafa describes why they decided to fight and how they enjoy army life. Kafa also addressed the debates in the West about whether the USA and others should give arms to Ukraine. Importantly, Kafa confirms that they are the They/Them Army everyone keeps talking about on Twitter 👀

P.S. Kafa is an avid birdwatcher, and they have requested books about birds in your native language. DM them if you’ve got a book!

18 Nov 202431 - Upstate NY SRA01:05:38

This week on the Tiger Bloc Podcast, we are very pleased to be able to bring you an interview with some homies from the Upstate New York chapter of the Socialist Rifle Association to talk about organizing in places hostile to firearm ownership. We know that a lot of you live in places like California or New York with laws and culture that make it hard to get firearms and training. UNY SRA tells us how they nevertheless have persevered. Together Soju Operator and John Chinaman talk what the New York legal environment is like, how to get a gun and train, how UNY SRA is working to spread a message of positive and safe firearm ownership in a generally unreceptive environment, and why, in a ban state, you should still get an AR and not a Mini 14.

Check our Instagram and Twitter for pictures of some of the things we talked about on the podcast. And you can find UNY SRA on Instagram or Twitter at @sra_upstateny, and check out their LinkTree at https://linktr.ee/unysra

Together they break down the necessary steps in real-world de-escalation of potentially violent encounters and emphasize the importance of mental health in regard to firearms ownership.

08 Jul 202217 - Tenacious Unicorn Ranch01:00:55

On this week’s episode of the Tiger Bloc Podcast, Soju Operator and John Chinaman welcome none other than J and Penny of Tenacious Unicorn Ranch!

You might have heard of them in recent headlines but for those not in the know, Tenacious Unicorn Ranch is an LGBTQIA+ sanctuary located in Westcliffe, Colorado. Founded by Penny Logue, TUR was built to act as a safe place for trans and queer individuals to escape the cis/het, capitalist hellscape world through communal land ownership, farming, firearms training, skill-building, and of course, taking care of adorable fluffy alpacas.

Together Soju, John, Penny, and J discuss how the ranch was founded, their experiences fighting off white supremacists, community building, firearms, escaping capitalism, and why alpacas are the greatest thing ever.

08 Feb 202211 - 2021 Year in Review00:51:14

Welcome to a very special episode of The Tiger Bloc Podcast! This time around, we’re featuring our most interesting guests yet: ourselves (again)!

Together the YPT gang takes the time to reflect upon the absurdity that was the year 2021 by reminiscing on their achievements, the lessons they’ve learned, what they wish to do in 2022, and how Star Wars probably doesn’t have the best Asian representation (RIP Gureni Telsij, true hero of the Battle of Endor).

06 Nov 20216 - Alana McLaughlin | Lady Feral00:55:35

On this episode of the Tiger Bloc Podcast, Soju, Snow, and Camila are joined by a complete and an utter badass...THE Lady Feral herself, Alana McLaughlin! For those not in the know, Alana is the second ever openly transgender woman mixed martial arts fighter, who just made her professional debut on Combate Global. She is also a former US Army Special Forces Green Beret now turned leftist activist, currently doing community outreach work for not only trans but also marginalized communities in the Portland area.

Alana sits down with the YPT team to discuss her first professional fight, training in mixed martial arts, overcoming adversity as a transgender woman in combat sports, how her military background disillusioned her from American imperialism, and what leftists can do to support the trans community.

By the way, we just started our Patreon! If you would like to support YPT’s ongoing efforts in podcast, mutual aid, or other forms of content, consider subscribing to us. All proceeds go to covering costs of the podcast, the rest will go towards mutual aid organizations.

24 Sep 20211 - Yellow Peril Tactical00:54:13

Welcome to the first episode of Yellow Peril Tactical: The Tiger Bloc Podcast! We’re excited to connect with our audience on new and interesting platforms. For those that do not already know, Yellow Peril Tactical is an Asian-American, armed leftist group dedicated to educating marginalized communities on the practice of firearms and self-defense. We are primarily a social media page that collaborates with various users to present the most up to date information that is easily accessible to leftists and oppressed groups.

In this episode, Yellow Peril Tactical contributors Soju Operator, Snow, and John Chinaman come together to discuss the origins and intent of YPT, how they became gun owners, the various challenges navigating the gun world as Asian-Americans and people of the LGBTQA community, as well as stupid trends among leftist gun owners that need to stop. Oh and we take shots at Lucas Botkin of T. Rex Arms because he’s garbage.

Join us in the Tiger’s Den and let us know what topics you want to hear us discuss next!

24 Nov 20217 - Cerise Castle | #GoogleLASDGangs01:14:17

This week we have a very special episode. John Chinaman, Camila, and Snow interview the wonderful investigative reporter Cerise Castle about her work investigating gangs within the LA County Sheriff’s Department.   #GoogleLASDGangs. By this time, everyone has seen the hashtag. It was Cerise Castle’s tireless investigative journalism which bled the lid off deputy gangs within LASD.   Executioners. Vikings. Regulators. The names of these gangs are now infamous. You’ll hear from Cerise about how the investigation got started, what we know, and how much we still don’t know. What we do know is that the Department is infested with over a dozen gangs which hunt, kill, and abuse they people they’re supposed to protect. The problem goes all the way from deputies on the beat all the way to the highest levels within the department. The presence of these gangs and the violence they perpetrate seems like something out of a movie. But it’s happening now.   Any discussion on the Tiger Bloc Podcast wouldn’t be complete without finding out how people who live in LA County are working to end deputy gangs and how Cerise feels about guns

16 Oct 202430 - Unfightable (Ft. Alana McLaughlin)00:56:36

On this week’s episode of the Tiger Bloc Podcast, we have the return of the one and only Alana McLaughlin, Lady Feral herself!

For those who missed our previous episode featuring her, Alana is the second ever openly transgender woman mixed martial arts fighter, who had her first professional fight under Combate Global. She is also a leftist activist, firearms owner, and community organizer currently doing outreach work in the Pittsburgh area.

Since our last conversation, the current climate for her fight career faced nearly insurmountable challenges. With the overwhelming transphobia that permeates the world of Mixed Martial Arts continually perpetuated by the lies of far-right bigots, Alana has unfortunately been unable to find an opponent willing to fight her. Her newly released documentary film, “Unfightable”, details her difficulty navigating life as a trans fighter and finding the inner strength to push forward.

Together, Soju Operator, John Chinaman, and Alana discuss the increased culture of transphobia within the sport of MMA, dispel anti-trans myths within sports, explain why Jake Shields is a total jackass, and elaborate on what being an ally means.

25 Mar 202323 - Practical Shooting Skills01:36:08

This week’s episode of the Tiger Bloc Podcast involves alcohol and hot takes. This ain’t your dad’s leftist gun podcast episode.

Joining Soju Operator is Katon who returns once more, this time with his guest, Evo. For those who unaware, Katon is a USPSA Master Class level shooter under the Carry Optics division and Evo has an extensive professional background in security work, firearms training, and medical first aid.

Together, the 3 of them get intoxicated and start laying their hottest takes and takeaways on how to actually get good at shooting, dispelling the myth of being the “jack of all trades”, why you should stop listening to YouTubers for practical advice, why your favorite dry fire gizmo probably sucks, why it’s ok to challenge others, and the power of love.

We are very glad to bring you an interview with our friend Azad from the Antifascist Internationalist Front, currently fighting against Myanmar’s Military Junta in Chin State, Myanmar.

We at YPT have been supporting the struggle against the junta for a while, so we were really excited to talk to Azad about his unit, made up of internationalists who have traveled to the country to fight the coup government. Listen to the podcast to find out the situation in Chin State, the weapons and tactics of the resistance, and the women’s revolution within the revolution. Our hosts also talk to Azad about his previous service with the YPG and what we can learn from the revolution in both Syria and Myanmar. As a bonus, definitely listen to learn why YPT won’t be traveling to Turkey anytime soon!

23 Oct 20214 - Tacticool Girlfriend01:22:20
The Tiger Bloc Podcast is super excited to have on this episode, the one and only Tacticool Girlfriend! If you don’t know who she is (really you don’t?), TCGF is a rising Youtube content creator in the sphere of firearms education, gun accessory reviews, and training tips. In less than a year, she went from relative obscurity to acquiring well over 36K subscribers. In a market as horribly saturated as the Gun Tuber Influencer space, she ain’t doing too bad for herself! Together, Soju Operator, John Chinaman, and Snow discuss with Tacticool Girlfriend the subjects of breaking into the firearms Youtube space, what’s been missing in the gun world, enduring sexism and racism, transphobic double standards, the current state of Afghanistan, teaching others, taking that first step in your next passion project, and for the first time ever... speaking upon her identity and experiences as a trans woman of Afghan descent. Together, Snow, Soju Operator, John Chinaman, TV Johnny, Hi-C, and Kalashnikoffing go into deep discussion regarding topics such as how to organize a training group, how to motivate others to train, how to convince anti-gun liberals to see the light, how to get into guns on a budget, what accessories do you need for your defensive firearm, and most important of all… what’s the best way to eat pho?

23 Mar 202427 - Practical Shooting Skills Pt.201:44:44

We’re finally back at it. This week, (some of) the boys are back in town for another absurd episode. Katon and Evo once again return this time alongside YPT contributors Soju Operator and Kalashnikoffing. For those who missed the last episode, Katon is a newly minted  USPSA Grand Master Class level shooter under the Carry Optics division and Evo is a security and EMT professional currently working towards medical school.

As one can imagine, only the SPICEST of takes are discussed here. Together, they cover various topics in regard to the firearms space including what it takes to reach Grand Master level, firearms training myths perpetuated by the left, process vs results-oriented training, why the idea of “gatekeeping” in the competitive shooting space is mostly bullshit, shit talking Tu Lam, and why MIRA Safety is a total joke of company.
