08 Jul 2024 | 94. Trust and Faith in Politics | Alex Vanopslagh | 00:59:27 | |
This episode was recorded on December 19th, 2023. Born in 1991, Alex has been the leader of the Liberal Alliance since 2019. He took over a party on the verge of extinction and has since managed to turn the party into a pillar of the Danish center-right. This was achieved by a political reorientation from a globalist and hyper-individualist platform to a far more communitarian platform, emphasizing not merely the power of personal freedom but the meaningfulness of responsible citizenship – coupled with a reinvigorated and innovative style of political messaging that made him and the party into the youth favorite at the most recent election. Alex’ message was encapsulated in the words “Du kan godt” (“You can do it”), a very contentious claim in a welfare state such as Denmark. Alex would like to bring attention to his own book, “Vejen til ansvar” (“The Road to Responsibility”) – even though it’s a bit inaccessible to the non-Danish speaking audience.
