06 Sep 2023Making love as a doorway to higher consciousness - with Diana Richardson 00:56:32

Yes, sex is about so much more than having an orgasm - carries the potential for making love as a doorway to higher consciousness. And that's what this episode is all about.

I feel so grateful to share this episode with you and honoured to have had the so inspiring Diana Richardson as a guest on my podcast. I feel grateful for her immense generosity to share her experiences and the unfolded insights with us - we had such a dynamic, expansive and physical conversation, physical as I could feel how she shared from such an embodied, true and authentic place, wonderful! I felt so inspired, to slow down, sense, listen, and yes allow making love to be a doorway to greater consciousness.

Diana is considered one of today’s leading authorities on human sexuality. She is known as the pioneer of Slow Sex, and is an internationally acclaimed teacher and author in the field of tantric sex and spirituality.

Diana has written 8 books on how in practical ways a person can experience a more fulfilling sex and love life. Born in South Africa in 1954, she first qualified as a lawyer (B.A.LLB), and then trained as a massage therapist (ITEC) in the UK. Her interest in the body and healing prompted an intense personal exploration into the union of sex and meditation - the essence of Tantra. Since 1993, together with her partner, Michael, she has been sharing her insights and experiences with couples who travel from many different parts of the world to participate in their informative and life changing ‘Making Love’ workshops in Switzerland.

In the conversation with Diana we talked about …

  • What Diana means with slow sex and why consciousness during sex inherently unfolds in slowing-down
  • The potential of sex to be a nurturing and expansive experience and to create a deep connection with oneself and ones` partner
  • Why sex is about much more than experiencing an orgasm: It is about how we do it; from a place of conscious awareness, in connection with our own body …
  • … how we can learn and start to transform our sexual practice into a journey that's not about «the peak» - but an invitation to dive deeper into the feeling that you have with and for each other
  • The importance of curiosity, lightness and playfulness in this process!
  • How making love invites us to cultivate body perception …
  • … and therefore experiencing making-love as a place where healing can happen

I hope you feel as energised and inspired as I did after listening to this conversation with Diana. There are many possibilities to learn more from Diana:

Diana is the author of several books:

  • Tantric Orgasm for women
  • Tantric Orgasm for men
  • Slow sex
  • Tantric Sex and Menopause
  • The Heart of Tantric Sex
  • Tantric love: Feeling versus emotion
  • Tantric love letters
  • Cool Sex

20 Sep 2023Your body is your temple - a conversation with Helen Noakes 00:55:12

I am so excited to have my dear friend and teacher Helen Noakes on the show today - a woman who is following her golden path, with so much passion, trust and love. I felt newly inspired after this conversation to listen to all the signs and impulses we receive as we flow through life, even if we don't know yet why and where they will lead us to. I also felt newly inspired to connect to my body as the one that (truly) knows, he / she is the bridge to the present moment, yes, my body is my temple and very best teacher. Thank you, Helen.

Let me introduce Helen to you, Helen describes herself as nomadic yoga teacher inspired by the teachings and students of Vanda Scaravelli, the author of the book «Awakening the spine». Helen also offers training in Chavutti Thirumal (massage by foot pressure), which has a strong influence on her teaching style. She is passionate about spontaneous, intuitive movement in the form of waves and spirals and includes her love of ecstatic dance into her teaching. Helen’s aim is to invite a lightness of being and joy to our movement practice and to encourage others to listen and respond to their intuition with safety and awareness. Her teachings  have  no methods or set sequences, and are mainly improvisational. This approach encourages the practitioner to create a strong relationship to the ground, the breath and to awakening the spine.

In the conversation with Helen we talked about …

  • Helen's journey and background working as a make-up artist for the English opera and how these experiences influenced what she is doing day
  • The teachers who where a big inspiration for Helen's path and how she learnt to follow very intuitive impulses which unravelled her deepest calling
  • What it means to trust yourself and why your body is your temple your very best teacher
  • What it means to be present in a very hectic and stressful environment and why this is when we learn to trust ourselves

I hope you feel as energised and inspired as I did after listening to the interview with Helen and that it encouraged you to follow your very own path and to trust yourself and all the messages you receive from your body!

27 Mar 2025The dance of your womb. With Anja Gysin. 01:05:02

What does your womb mean to you? How do you relate to her and nurture your connection? What if you were invited to tune into her movement and join her dance? What if our journey of homecoming is about learning to perceive the anatomy of our very selves (not a textbook!) through the lens of our sensual experience?

I am thrilled to welcome Anja Gysin back onto the podcast. Anja is a dancer, choreographer, and Somatic Movement Educator in Body-Mind Centering. She has been teaching movement and dance as a healing force for over 25 years. In both her artistic practice and teaching, Anja centers the nature of the human being, creating space for the unfolding of the individual while also inviting a connection to the spirit that binds us all. Truly, a medicine dancer!

In our conversation, we explore both of our embodied womb journeys. The womb is our first physical home, a deep connection to our inner world, a symbol of our dreams, and what we wish to birth into the world. It is a space of transformation, a source of life, and a place of feminine healing.

In this episode, we discuss:

* Anja's personal womb journey and how she continues to re-story her connection to her womb through movement and dance. She shares her experience with the menstrual cup, her first encounter with the magic of women's circles in Canada, and the transformative experience of giving birth to her children.

* The meaning of both our physical womb and the social womb. Anja talks about why womb work is world work and peace work, and why she feels the term "feminine awakening" doesn’t resonate — were we ever really asleep?

* How dance and movement can support us in reconnecting with and reclaiming our wombs. Through movement and dance, we give the womb life of her own. Anja shares how she works with women, meeting their pain and suffering, and helping them transform these into joy and a powerful "YES" to their bodies.

Enjoy!

24 Apr 2024From the head into the body - tapping into flow through movement and dance. With Isabella Killian. 00:52:08

Hello and welcome to The Breathing Body Podcast - My name is Flurina and I am your host, and I am so happy that you are here.

Today I welcome my dear friend Isabella Kilian on the podcast and together we weaved a conversation about all the many things we have in common - dance, osteopathy, movement research, spirituality, … - celebrating how we are both on this search for "something more", the very ungraspable and mystical …

This episode is for YOU if you would like to explore how you can say yes to a PROCESS which invites you to arrive in your body and in your truth every given moment.

About Bella:

Isabella Kilian's passion for dance has been a lifelong journey, beginning with ballet during her early years and evolving into a love for Latin American partner dances during her teens. Her dance background laid the foundation for her to study contemporary dance for three years in Munich, where she delved deeper into the art form and discovered a desire to work harmoniously with the body.

Seeking a holistic approach to healing and movement, Isabella pursued studies in osteopathy in the UK. This path not only enriched her understanding of the body's mechanics but also inspired her to develop her movement workshop, SoulContact. This unique workshop has been a highlight at festivals across Europe, attracting participants eager to explore the nuances of movement and connection.

Driven by her insatiable curiosity about the connection between body, mind, and spirit, Isabella embarked on a journey to study the Liberato Method with her mentor, Xandy Liberato. This transformative experience further fueled her passion for exploring body flow, connection, and the profound beauty of listening through the body.

Today, Isabella Kilian is dedicated to creating workshops that empower individuals to embrace their body's natural flow, deepen their connections with themselves and others, and discover the joy of truly listening to their bodies. Through her teachings, she continues to inspire others to explore the interconnectedness of movement, mindfulness, and personal growth.

In this conversation with Bella we talked about:

  • Bella journey from Ballett to Osteopathy, back to dance and into her very own work
  • The importance of sensuality …
  • … and why we need to let go of control to find freedom in movement.
  • Her own work "soul contact"
  • And why you don't need to commit to a morning routine to be in flow with life :-)

How to connect with Isabella:

  • You can find all about Isabella's current work and offers on her instagram page (@bellas.body.poetry)

I hope you enjoy this episode and I am looking forward reading your thoughts and comments.

Love,

Flurina

20 Nov 2024Let's talk about ovaries. A wildly poetic exploration of the ancient landscapes of the feminine. 00:43:38

Welcome to The Soft Rebellion Podcast, I am so happy that you are here.

In this episode I invite you onto a journey exploring the wildly poetic anatomy of your ovaries, `wombscapes` and the body of the egg. Yes, you knew and sensed ovaries before anything else, ovaries have been your first human experience, your first melting and meeting point with the feminine and its physical expression and they shaped first land you travelled upon …

… your ovaries are a temple of deeply grounded wisdom. And the home of the body of the egg, she who reminds us to own our size, to nurture body and enjoy rebellious rest.

We talk so often about the menstrual cycle, the inner seasons, the blood, the bleed, ovulation, but we don`t really take a deep dive into the world of the ovaries and the body of the egg do we? Do you know where your ovaries are in your body at all? What does ovary mean to you? And when did you last place your hands onto your lower belly, just above your pubic bone and allow your attention to meet your breath and your breath to bring you to the mind of your ovaries and allow their voice to speak to you ... what does she has to tell you? What does she need from you?

This episode comes to you from the center and joy of my womb, it is an amalgamation of the science and theory I learnt about the human body, my lived experience, and the ocean of poetry awaiting to be freed.

Welcome to the first solo episode of The Soft Rebellion of 2025! In this moment of transition—from my personal wintering season into spring—I’m sharing an intimate look at my journey as I step back into the creative flow of this podcast and my life’s work. Over the last two weeks, I’ve navigated feelings of overwhelm, fear, and self-doubt, only to receive a simple but profound gift: a message from within that said, “You are enough. You’ve never not been enough.”

From that place of clarity, I embraced a theme for my year—and for this podcast season: An Abundant, Trustful Yes. In this episode, I explore what it means to say a courageous yes to life, to creativity, and to ourselves, even when the path feels uncertain. I invite you to join me in making this theme your own and to discover how this mindset can help us navigate transitions, honor our cycles, and step into the fullness of our power.

What you’ll hear in this episode:

- The challenges of stepping out of rest and into action after a season of wintering.

- How the menstrual cycle mirrors creative cycles and offers wisdom for transitions.

- The power of saying yes to your enoughness - and what it can unlock.

- Why 2025`s theme for The Soft Rebellion is an ABUNDANT TRUSTFUL YES.

This episode is an invitation to you. How can you embrace this year’s theme of An Abundant, Trustful Yes in your life? Listen in for my reflections, and let’s walk this path together. This podcast invites you to meet your body - in a deeper and more meaningful way and to find your way back home. We explore tools and practices, share stories and experiences about how we can say YES to the body we inhabit: This is is the most beautiful project life has to offer.  I call it self-love.

Today's episode is all about chocolate, fascia and the spark of life - yes, this is a deep, magic and mysterious conversation - just how recovering from eating difficulties can feel like or did feel for me.

About Joanne:

Joanne Avison is an author, illustrator and specialist in fascia, myofascial movement and manual therapy. The 2nd edition of her book "Yoga Fascia Anatomy and Movement" precedes a new illustrated series including "Myofascial Magic in Action", "Fasciategrity – the Magical Interface", "The Heart-centred Embryo" and "Somatic Archetypes". Through archetypal awareness, Joanne teaches how fasciategrity redefines the unified nature of human form and self-expression through everyone's unique movement patterns. An ordained minister, Joanne's doctorate in Spiritual Science includes study and practice as teacher / practitioner of Restorative Yoga, Surat Shabd Yoga, Structural Integration and Sacred Contracts - archetypal patterns and the movement of magical inner awareness. Joanne invites us to tune in to ourselves and understand our own biomotional intelligence from the inside out.

During our conversation Joanne shared how she spends most of her time travelling the world working mainly with  practitioners teaching her work and how she witnesses her students get confidence that «there is nothing wrong with me, I am embodied, I am.» She described this as «watching lightbulbs go on, a process of bringing ourselves home - where the magic happens». And of course this is exactly what this podcast is about and what healing is about - coming back home and acknowledging the wholeness you are and have always been!

In this conversation we talked about:

15 Nov 2023Surrendering to the unknown - where intuition unfolds. With Delia Rosenboom.01:04:30

Hello and welcome to another episode of the podcast «The breathing body». My name is Flurina and I am your host -  and I am so happy that you are here.

This conversation was very meaningful to me as I have been talking to another wonderful Alexander Technique teacher, Delia Rosenboom. Delia found to the Alexander Technique with 14 years of age, the age with which I had my first Alexander Technique lesson too, in Switzerland. It deeply resonated with me  when Delia shared how the Alexander Technique opened a doorway to «this other experience of life» - a world where sensation and feelings are welcomed and where one is encouraged to follow the path our own curiosity and excitement is carving - and a world where we receive touch which enables us to dive even deeper into sensation and feeling - which then opens doors for change and healing.

Yes, another conversation about the power of  being, listening and following our intuition - which is our greatest gift and our best teacher. Delia s work was born purely out of her own life journey, and experience and her body, not from books or degrees … and that in itself is so inspirational.

About Delia:

Delia`s interest in self-transformation began at 14, which was the age she discovered the Alexander Technique and since never looked back! She trained as an Alexander Technique teacher with 17 and graduated from Don Burton’s Fellside Alexander School in 1989. Following personal experiences she became a pioneer for a more sensitive, intuitive and ‘listening’ approach to the Alexander work in relation to clients experiencing shock, trauma or grief.

Delia also trained in the psycho-neuro-immunology-based healing method – ‘The Journey’ and has expanded on this work through trainings in Neuro Linguistic Programming and also with the Positive Intelligence’s Mental Fitness training . In 2017 Delia created The South East Alexander School, a professional Alexander Technique teacher training program, holistically addressing the physical and also the emotional, energetic and psychological aspects of Alexander work as an integrated part of the training.

Delia also offers regular  ‘HeartSong Acappella singing’ workshops, choirs, vocal trainings and breath work, all underpinned by Alexander work and positive psychology and she also works with bioresonance to optimise health and raise energy levels.

In her own words she says «I love to work creatively, with people who are ready and eager to change, grow and further develop! My specialities are in working with individuals post-surgery, with those experiencing life changing events, grief or trauma… and with anyone truly ready to dive deeply into a process of self-discovery!»

In the conversation with Delia we talked about …

  • Delia`s journey to the Alexander Technique and her ongoing inquiry into self-transformation
  • How the most challenging experience in her life - deep bereavement - unfolded into greatest insights still nurturing her work daily
  • The importance of taking responsibility for oneself  and giving responsibility back to client we work with:
  • The more we learn to listen, the less we need to do and the more change can happen!
  • These moments when we don't know which carry all the potency of surrendering to the unknown
  • To thrive we need touch - how Delia uses touch and her hands to facilitate change and healing
  • The wonders of embryology: A field which is not about learning something new but rather allowing the body to do what it always did and is best at: Epansive and well organised growth

29 Jan 2025Menstrual activism: Indulge the impulse to resist & let your anger guide you home. Dr.Breanne Fahs. 00:53:20

How do you meet resistance and anger in your lifeCheck if cnava left account twice ? How often do you say yes when you mean no? And how often did you betray yourself by neglecting the power of your female body to fight back?

I am so excited to have had the amazing Breanne Fahs as guest on the podcast. Breanne is professor of Women and Gender Studies at Arizona State University, where she specializes in studying women's sexuality, critical embodiment studies, feminist histories, and political activism. She has authored many books, including most recently Unshaved and Burn It Down! Feminist Manifestos for the Revolution. She is the founder and director of the Feminist Research on Gender and Sexuality Group at Arizona State University, and she also works as a clinical psychologist in private practice.

Together we explored all about Menstrual activism and why the world needs (menstrual) activists for the collective healing of the female body and women’s voices.

What a liberating conversation - wild and so true. Enjoy.

In this conversation we explored:

- Breanne`s experience of growing up in a menstruating body, how she met this strong narrative and what protected her from seeing her body as an object but a powerful individual.

- Breanne`s very rebellious writing and research, how she became a menstrual activist and how this path changed her understanding and meaning of the cyclical body.

- What menstrual activism actually means, namely to no longer fragment ourselves, to recognise our bodies needs and address them, to fight back against shame and stigma, against over-medicalisation of menstruation and the hatred for cycles all together.

- How we can all be (menstrual) activist by starting to recognise and acknowledge our anger and indulge the impulse to resist.

19 Jun 2024Back to the roots & How to live a bloody brilliant life! Part 2 - with Josianne Hosner01:02:31
Hello and welcome to The Breathing Body Podcast - My name is Flurina and I am your host, and I am so happy that you are here. In today's episode I welcomed Josianne Hosner back on the podcast, and this time we answered YOUR questions - and the result is such a deep and meaningful and joyful conversation. This conversation is for YOU if you would like to diver deeper into the magic, mystic and power of menstrual cycle awareness and how you can use it to enhance your life! Nature lives through four seasons year by year, and so do we women cycle through four inner seasons month by month. We are not always in the same mood and many challenges in daily life lose their scarce if we learn to understand WHY our energy levels aren't always the same. To get to know your inner spring, summer, autumn and winter supports us to connect to ourselves, our body and inner wisdom. And in that way we feel less at mercy of our mood and we can use the knowledge about the menstrual cycle to bring lightness and joy into our life. About Josianne: Josianne is a menstrual-cycle-mentor , «Menstruationskundige» and author. Since more than 10 years she is supporting women to learn to understand their body and menstrual cycle und to create a bloody brilliant life in harmony with the knowledge about the menstrual cycle. Her book «Back to the roots» - sadly only existing in German - all about cyclical living with huge joy, has been sold more than 10`000 times. In the conversation with Josianne you will learn about: Josianne`s fascination and inspiration for the menstrual cycle and how she came to work in that field The cyclical nature of all aspects of our life What the inner seasons are and what it means to live a cyclical life Why living a cyclical life connects you to your true inner self and connects you to your body as your greatest teacher Why saying yes to my cycle is saying yes to myself leading to a much more fulfilled and happy life I hope you feel as energised and inspired as I did after listening to the interview with Josianne and that it encourages you to explore more deeply the nature of your menstrual cycle and how its wisdom can enhance your daily life! 08 May 2024The power of moving into the place of unspoken knowing - With Gary Carter. 01:00:44
Hello and welcome to The Breathing Body Podcast - My name is Flurina and I am your host, and I am so happy that you are here. Today's episode is another one of my `root teachers`- series: In 2017 I went to Goa to participate in a Scaravelli-inspired yoga teacher training with Helen Noakes, who was guest on the podcast too (see episode 4). During this training I met Gary Carter, who taught us anatomy and movement - and I can't put in words what happened with me when I sat there on the sandy Shala ground and witnessed how my own horizon got pulled wide open and I came to acknowledge that my body is so much more I would ever have thought. Yes, studying with Gary is breath-taking and so is this episode. This episode is for YOU if you would like to explore how studying the miraculous nature of your body changes the way we move and use our body - and is a direct invitation to heal. About Gary: Gary Carter brings a wealth of experience to this world with his over 35 years of experience in physical training, anatomical study, and bodywork practices. He created a movement Training called ‘Myofascial Movement Training’ and founded the Natural Bodies Centre
in 1991 to teach, train and encourage kinaesthetic awareness, ease of movement, efficient body use in exercise, sport, and many movement disciplines, and is one of the first people in the UK to bring tensegrity and fascial aspects to yoga and training systems. Gary trained and taught with Tom Myers (Anatomy Trains) and studied yoga with teachers such as Mary Stewart and John Stirk and after a brief time with Vanda Scaravelli. He also studied in Shiatsu, Chi Kung & Chi Ne Tsang, CranioSacral Therapy. Gary has been and is teaching nationally and internationally for various organisations and universities and recently  has been lead dissector and designer with the Fascial Net Plastination Project, Germany with Gunther von Hagens team, creating the world’s first plastinated fascial human. Gary lives and teaches in Brighton in the UK and is consistently exploring, studying, and practicing with talented and inspiring people from all backgrounds of movement research and manual therapy. In this conversation we talked about: ✨ How Gary`s understanding of the body evolved on his journey … ✨ … from working as a graphic designer to become a leading dissector in the `fascia world ✨ How learning about our body transforms the way we use our body and the way we move! ✨ The power of the mind - body connection and how we can use visualisation to access a place of … ✨ ... innerness, that mysterious place where no words exist … ✨… and we move into the power of unspoken knowing. 23 Jan 2025This is my vision. Will you join me? 00:19:33

In this short solo episode, I share my vision — the why behind all the work I do, from writing and coaching to research and teaching. This is more than just a declaration; it’s an invitation to join me on this softly rebellious quest to expand this vision into a larger energetic container where it can truly grow - thank you for being a witness!

I`ll read my vision three times:

As my personal vision.

A vision for the world.

As YOUR vision, imagining it is your own - power talk gift for you!

This episode is also a space for reflection and conversation. I’ll offer journal prompts to explore your own visions, and I warmly invite you to share your softly rebellious vision with me. Who knows? Perhaps your vision could find a place on this podcast!

Let’s dream boldly, reflect deeply, and co-create our visions together.

✨ Journaling Prompts for Reflection:

• What is your most heartfelt vision for yourself or the world?

• What softly rebellious steps can you take to honor it?

• How does my vision resonate with you?

I can’t wait to hear how this lands for you. Reach out and share your thoughts — or your vision — because this is a conversation we’re building together.

16 Oct 2024How to reclaim your feminine fire & connect with the source of creativity - with Lucy H Pearce.01:10:08

In this episode I am talking to Lucy H Pearce, the author of the amazingly powerful book Burning Woman. I still feel my soul shimmer thinking back to this meaningful conversation!

Burning Woman is a breath-taking and controversial woman’s journey through history — personal and cultural — on a quest to find and free her own power. And so is this episode a wake-up call to the Burning Woman within you, a reminder. We live in burning times and they call for Burning Women. This is our time to come out of the shadows and burn brightly.

The Soft Rebellion is my expression of Burning Woman and I hope that this conversation inspires and encourages you to bring your version of Burning Woman into your life too, uncover her voice and no longer let your fears take your power.

Lucy H. Pearce is the author of multiple life-changing non-fiction books, including Nautilus Award silver winners Medicine Woman, Burning Woman, and Creatrix. Her newest books is Crow Moon: reclaiming the wisdom of the dark woods and The Kitchen Witch Companion, which she illustrated and co-authored with Sarah Robinson. Her writing focuses on women’s healing through archetypal psychology, embodiment, historical awareness and creativity. An award-winning graduate in History of Ideas with English Literature from Kingston University, and a PGCE from Cambridge University, Lucy founded Womancraft Publishing, creating paradigm-shifting books by women for women, in 2014. She is the host of the Creative Magic podcast, where she interviews contemporary creative women.

The mother of three children, she lives in East Cork, Ireland.

In this conversation we explored:

- How to connect with the source of creativity. We explored how the writing process looks for both of us and what we need to let the writing pour out of us. Lucy shared how writing feels like a journey through spaces which are portals for voices coming through her.

- Why we must connect with our sensual body if we want to reclaim our feminine fire and Burning Woman. Before Burning Woman safes the world, she has to save herself, which means to recognise her subconscious desires so that the fire within becomes the fire without and a guiding light for the world!

- How fear invites us to work with our energy wisely. Rather than denying or resisting it, we can transmute fear, meaning to express it and give a voice to what is ruling us and to what has never been expressed.

- How by transmuting the energy of fear, we free the power within it. Fear, Lucy shared, is trapped energy turned against us and fear asks for inquiry, otherwise we back off and keep serving patriarchy.

11 Sep 2024How to step into the responsibility of your own healing - with Amy Wilding. 00:59:49

Do you know these moments in life when you struggle to meet your own needs, your whole being feels out of alignment as if there is a mismatch between body, mind and spirit and you are trying (maybe too hard) to weave those gaps back together?

I feel honoured to have had Amy Wilding on the podcast and together we leaned into such an intimate, raw and pure conversation.  We explored what healing means for both of us and Amy shared the steps she had to take on her own path stepping into the responsibility for healing her body - the recurrent realisation that she can't longer abandon herself.

There is so much Soft Rebellion energy in Amy's story, who wild and wisely came to a point in her life where she stopped purely relying on other medial professionals and started to do her own research - a process which allowed pain to be a doorway to clearly feel what the next step is and emerge into the strength of her body. Yes now is the moment to develop love and care for our future self, she needs us and is awaiting for us. The Soft Rebellion is she who decides to no longer abandon herself and this decision marks the beginning of her journey to heal herself. I hope you will enjoy this conversation as much as I did and reclaim your own Soft Rebellion as you step into the responsibility for your own healing.

Amy Wilding is a queer and inclusive feminist, author, educator, advocate, and international speaker. A National Board Certified Integrative Women's Health Coach, she has been leading sacred women’s circles, mother-daughter circles, and rite-of-passage ceremonies for well over a decade. With a deep passion for empowering women by helping them to reclaim their inherent sovereignty and wisdom, Amy has answered the call to service through circle and retreat leadership, workshops, one-on-one mentoring and coaching, conference presentations, guest facilitation, podcasts, interviews, and women's circle leadership training. Amy's first book, Wild & Wise: Sacred Feminine Meditations for Women's Circles & Personal Awakening, was published in 2017, and her next book is in the works.

In this conversation we talked about:

  • Why we are responsible for healing ourselves and have to take responsibility to become our own inner mother! We explored what healing means to Amy, namely the journey of accepting what is out of alignment and let your body guide you to your next steps.
  • How to meet resistance towards our own bodies and how this resistance is where the gift lies. Amy shared about her history of autoimmune disease and what she did to facilitate change in the state of her health and life.
  • The initiatory phases of motherhood and peri-menopause and how both require a new approach to address the reality of our bodies.
  • Amy's journey to become an advocate for sacred feminine, why she set up the red ent in Louisville and why we are all yearning for sisterhood, meet in circles and share the information and knowledge patriarch holds away from us.

06 Mar 2025The joy of dropping it all & tasting waves of homecoming.00:33:30

How often do you hide the truth of your female body and neglect her cyclical rhythm (and the magic that comes with it)? When was the last time you completely let go, dropped your bundle, and surrendered to the need to rest—unexpectedly, out of the blue—because your body was asking for it in that very moment? And when did you last fully surrender to your desires, with a big smile in your heart, without judging yourself for it?

In this episode, I invite you to join me on a walk along the Ravensbourne River in South East London. Let’s sit together on a bench as I share the story of my recent experience on day 25 of my menstrual cycle, which unexpectedly transformed into a day 1 experience. In that shift, I turned shock and frustration into profound surrender, unveiling golden nuggets of wisdom along the way (which I can’t wait to share with YOU). It felt like waves of homecoming, and I want you to taste that, too.

P.S.: I’m so excited to be back with a solo episode! I’ve missed connecting directly with you, my wonderful, softly rebellious community. I can’t wait to hear your takeaways from this short episode and learn where you are on your Soft Rebellion journey, and how she's showing up in your life right now.

This episode is so wildly poetic and so bloody real. Like the Soft Rebellion.

09 Jan 2025How to turn 2025 into a radical act of Self-care - with Valentina Thayer. 01:12:05

Imagine a world where women meet with other women as the year comes to an end, together they reflect, process and collectively lean into their dreams and wishes for the new beginning, and because they do, the collective space holding and honoring awakens and plants the seed of their greatest vision and desire.

This is today’s conversation. A radical act of self-care. Intimate. Inspiring.

I am joined by my friend Valentina Thayer, a menstrual cycle coach & fertility awareness educator. Living in a world where the female body is often misunderstood in her natural rhythms, Valentina helps women reconnect to the pulse of their health and vitality - the menstrual cycle - so that they can live in alignment, harmony and Power. Valentina is based in Vietnam, offering in person workshops and online 1:1 coaching.

We share many things in common and most recently the shared experience of having followed the softly rebellious call to winter. In this conversation we explored:

- How both our wintering times unfolded, what filled and nurtured us during this time of turning inwards, what commitments we took and how we navigated fears and feelings of shame or guilt that arose with it.

- What we harvested during the past weeks: We share our greatest insights and inspirations - how wintering allowed us to (re-)align with nature and drop into the power of darkness.

- Why wintering in the season of winter is particularly profound … and that it is unnegotiable not to do it again this year!

- The invitation of our monthly bleed and inner winter to carry those gifts into the new year and beyond …

We wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR, may you be with the people you love, immerse yourself into the hunger of your female body and say YES to your unique version of the Soft Rebellion.

23 Aug 2023The potency of listening - a conversation with Mary Bolingbroke 00:57:20

I feel so grateful and blessed for all the wonderful Osteopaths and Osteopathy teachers I have met on my journey so far and who shared their experience and wisdom with me. One of them is Mary Bolingbroke! Mary keeps inspiring me on such a profound and I am honoured to have her as my guest on the podcast! Welcome, Mary.

In this episode she shares with us important parts of her journey and her understanding of health and the role of us Osteopaths … and yes,  if you keep listening, I am sure you will feel and hear what I mean and why it is actually so hard to describe this wonderful teacher in words.

About Mary: Mary Qualified from the British School of Osteopathy in 1992 and then worked and trained with Stuart Korth at the Osteopathic Centre for Children in London until 1997. She co-founded the Irish Diploma in Paediatrics with Ian Wright in 2009 and she is on the Biodynamics of Osteopathy faculty, and regularly teaches on Biobasics (James Jealous) courses in the UK. Mary has a great interest in teaching as well as treating people of all ages and animals including horses, dogs and the occasional parrot.

In this conversation with Mary we talked about …

  • Marys` long and convoluted path and what brought Mary to study Osteopathy
  • Why our body always tries to seek health!
  • A simple (and so profound!) practice you can do to learn to get in touch with the stillness (and wisdom) within your body - the place from where so much wisdom is ready to be revealed!
  • Marys` understanding  of how our body stores both physical and emotional events within its tissues and how this build up can lead to the experience of pain or mental exhaustion …
  • … and how Mary uses touch and the potency of listening to guide the body back to health

31 Jul 2024Is art ever not healing? A deep dive into why we dance and create with Hagit Yakira 00:54:58

Hello and welcome to The Breathing Body Podcast - My name is Flurina and I am your host, and I am so happy that you are here.

In this episode I am talking with dancer, researcher, movement therapist and choreographer Hagit Yakira. Together we embarked on a journey to explore so deep and meaningful questions, is the artistic process ever not healing? Why do we dance? What does freedom mean? And how much freedom can we give and live in any given structure? The end result is a conversation, so raw, pure and humble, it brought tears to my eyes whilst we recorded it and is still moving in and through me. This is the breathing body.

About Hagit Yakira:

Hagit is an award winning Israeli choreographer and director of her own company Hagit Yakira Dance which she founded in 2007. Besides working with professional dancers she leads performance projects for the community and non-professional dancers as well. Alongside her work as a choreographer Hagit is a teacher. She has been developing a personal style and way of teaching and her workshops for professional dancers and the community are constantly in demand around the UK, Europe, Scandinavia and Israel. Hagit received her PhD from Trinity Laban/City University. Her thesis is titled: Relational Autobiographical Choreographies - on a new choreographic practice. At present she is an Associate Professor at the University of Stavanger in Norway. Her approach in general, as well as to the movement research, is based on autobiography, and different physical exploration of emotions; she is being informed by her background as a dance movement therapist alongside her background as a performer and a choreographer.

In this conversation we talked about:

  • The intimate relationship between the artistic process and healing and the potency of art to reflect back to us what we otherwise might not see, and call out of us all the voices we forgot to express.
  • The balance of structure and freedom in dance teaching and how becoming a dance therapist brought meaning and generosity in Hagit`s life.
  • Fear as a channel to guide us home to ourselves and how it opens the space to trust what we love.
  • How giving birth and becoming mother of twins "landed something" in Hagit`s live and invited her to land into who she truly is.

This is how you can connect with:

I hope you enjoy this episode and I am looking forward reading your thoughts and comments.

03 Jul 2024The four faces of the feminine psyche - with Dr. Anita Johnston01:01:06
Hello and welcome to The Breathing Body Podcast - My name is Flurina and I am your host, and I am so happy that you are here. In today's episode I welcome Dr. Anita Johnston back on the podcast and together we explored how by tapping into the timeless Archetypal Feminine energies flowing through each of us, you can: discover what soul nourishment means for you, experience the power of the multifaceted feminine psyche - the 4 faces of the feminine psyche -, find new ways to be at peace in your body and learn to use your inner strength to heal and grow. Yes, what are the 4 faces of the feminine you might wonder: They are archetypes that correspond to four significant phases in a woman’s life (maiden, mother, queen, crone) and also correspond to the four seasons of the year (spring, summer, fall, winter), four cycles of the moon (waxing, full, waning, dark), four directions (east, south, west, north), four times of day (dawn, noon, dusk, midnight) and four elements (air, fire, water, earth). These archetypal energies are available to the conscious woman for personal growth and healing – regardless of her chronological age. About Anita: Anita Johnston, Ph.D., is a Clinical Psychologist, Certified Eating Disorder Specialist, and author of Eating in the Light of the Moon, which has been published in seven languages.  She is the co-creator of the Light of the Moon Café, an online resource with interactive and self-study courses for women around the world.  A pioneer in the field of eating psychology for over thirty-five years, she is currently the Founder and Executive Clinical Director of Ai Pono Hawaii Eating Disorder Programs, which has a residential eating disorder treatment program on Maui.  Dr. Johnston provides virtual individual consultations and conducts workshops internationally.  She is best known for integrating metaphor and storytelling into her training as a clinical psychologist to explain the complex issues that underlie struggles with eating and body image.  In this conversation we talked about: ✨ The arrival of the feminine in a patriarchal world ✨ The meaning of the feminine and masculine principle as archetypes … ✨ … and how they relate to the experience and meaning of our life ✨ The 4 faces of the feminine psyche and how to embody them ✨ Anita's discovery of the 4 faces or phases of the feminine ✨ And how we can all access those and enjoy their gifts This is how you can connect with Dr. Anita Jonston: - Visit his webpage: www.dranitajohnston.com I hope you enjoy this episode and I am looking forward reading your thoughts and comments. 07 Nov 2024Don't give up. 3 powerful ways I've turned worries & doubt into joy & confidence. 00:26:27

Welcome to The Soft Rebellion Podcast, I am so happy that you are here.

This episode is a powerful reminder that giving up is not a solution. And I record this as much for myself as for all of you! I got to know this place too well recently when waves of doubts and worries seem to override what once felt like a burning fire committing to a deep-desired project. Yes, those waves seem to override our fire, but do they really? No, I experienced they do not, if, we have the right tools at hand to meet the situation and ask this one so important question … don’t give up and keep listening :-)

This episode is for you, if you are curious how I meet worries and doubts and transform them into joy and trust with 3 magic tools and inspirations I gathered on my path recently. This is a power talk, a reminder, with great love and a cheeky smile, an episode you can listen to over and over again when you need it, when this gunky voice is telling you a come on just give up, but your heart screams no keep going ….

28 Feb 2024Following your wild heart, moving through your fears and embracing the business of your life! With Jenny Weber. 01:01:24

Hello and welcome to The Breathing Body Podcast - My name is Flurina and I am your host, and I am so happy that you are here.

This episode I have recorded rather spontaneously when being back in Switzerland at my parents place - I am talking to my dear friend Jenny, a woman of pure inspiration, heart  and successful business - the title says it all!

Note: This episode is in German, if you head over to YouTube (link in shownotes) you can find English subtitles!

About Jenny:

When I asked Jenny to write a short bio about her, the first sentence was so beautiful that I decided to share it word by word: «I am Jenny and I follow the messages from my wild heart in all areas of my life. That means that over and over again I have to step out of my comfort zone, move through my fear to discover the greatest freedom hidden underneath. Exactly that is how I have created my successful online business.»

Jenny grew up in central Switzerland where she is still based, being mother to her son Maro Kaleo and the partner of Scott Alameda, a very talented photographer, yes together they recently started their own podcast too in which they share stories and inputs how to run a family!

After leaving school, Jenny trained as a social worker and later social educator, she trained as a ceremony leader and created many wedding ceremonies in particular.

Jenny is a dreamer and a big visionary, and she so generously spreads the message that we all can make this world to a better place.

Yes, Jenny's heart piece is her own business, she is a spiritual mentor for «power women», for women who really want to move this world as she says.

In this conversation we talked about:

  • How we can all follow the messages of our wild heart, and reclaim our wild heart!
  • How Jenny's perspective and vision changed after she gave birth to her son
  • How Jenny's path to becoming an entrepreneur lead her to find true self-love
  • And has been the most spiritual journey and still IS!
  • If we allow ourself to fully be who we are, this is how we find freedom in each area of our life
  • And yes, we need to surf the waves of feelings and emotions to get there!

Yes, this is a power talk of an episode and just so heart-warming, inspiring and encouraging! Listen, enjoy and then go and follow your own wild heart and do all those things which make you feel alive. This is our birth right.

I hope you will enjoy this episode and I am so much looking forward hearing from you - share with me how listening to Julie inspired and nurtured your yoga practice from anew and what you took from this conversation.

13 Mar 2024From eating difficulties to self-love | My story, part 2. 00:26:16

Hello and welcome to another episode of  «The breathing body». My name is Flurina and I am your host -  and I am so happy that you are here.

I received so much feedback and questions about my latest solo episode so that I decided to share with you part 2 of my own healing journey. Yes, me and my body this is my story. I found healing from disordered eating when I allowed myself to become sensually alive and when I gave her a voice. The power within emotions and feelings became the sweetest song and strongest dance I could ever share. This is my creator force and feminine spirit, I realised, wanting to be awakened and expressed.

Today I share with you what was that last huge game-changer on my path to recovery and what my relationship at this moment had to do with it!

About today's guest, myself, FLURINA :-)

I am an Osteopath, lecturer, researcher, dancer, artist and mother of the podcast «The Breathing Body». And, I am a woman who suffered from an eating disorder for many years - and found healing through movement, body awareness and falling in love with the fascination and miracle my expresses every day - the sweet song of feelings and emotions.

I initially trained as a dancer in Denmark and the Netherlands. During this time, I encountered many somatic practices, in particular the Alexander Technique and … which continuously teaches me as a facilitator the art of creating space and finding ease in movement by using images and imaginations.

The wish of engaging my hands in care for others led me to gain a Masters` degree at the European School of Osteopathy. I am currently practicing in private clinics in Kent and London, as well as training as a paediatric osteopath at the Osteopathic Center for Children in London.

I am fascinated by the physical matter of our body and how we came to be. I am continuously exploring an experiential and poetic approach towards being human and the potential of human touch for healing.

In this episode I share with you:

  • What my eating disorder had to do with my relationship
  • How I used my eating disorder behaviours to justify my misery
  • The power of saying NO during recovery!
  • The role of fear in my recovery and how I learnt to use it as feed-forward force!
  • What, in my experience, true lightness is about and how we can source it
  • The importance of taking breaks and REST in recovery
  • It needs courageous to live a life beyond your wildest dreams!

I am looking forward hearing from you - what inspired you the most? What was most precious for you from today's episode? What would you like to hear more about? I am excited to read about your thoughts of this episode - share it with me on Instagram @flurina_breathingbody.

Lots of love to you,

Flurina

18 Oct 2023Movement is your birth right - Engaging in the dance of your life. In conversation with Anja Gysin. 01:00:36

Yes, MOVEMENT is our BIRTH RIGHT.

What if your life would be a DANCE? If there was no beginning and no end but your whole being yielding into the expression of your body?

I am so touched and grateful to share this episode with you. I had such an organic and moving conversation filled with breath and joy with Anja Gysin. We talked about movement, touch and healing on such a deep level, from such an embodied perspective that … it is hard to describe it in words - go ahead, listen, let it fill all your cells, let it move you!

Few words about Anja. Anja was born in Solothurn in Switzerland and is certified as a movement-teacher-and therapist, Open Floor teacher, dancer, choreographer, and Somatic Movement Educator in Body-Mind Centering. She teaches movement and dance as a healing force, for 25 years. Since 2012 she has led her own Dance Company. In her artistic as well as in her teaching approach, the nature of human being within is in the focus. So she gives room for the unfolding of the individual and at the same time space for the opening to the spirit that connects everything.

In this conversation with Anja, we talked about …

  • Her journey which led her from practicing dance as performance focusing on aesthetics and shapes to what she calls «Medicine dancer» working in the service for healing.
  • That movement IS our birth right!
  • How we can use our breath to get in touch with our inner and outer nature …
  • … and why it is so potent to allow ourselves to be touched - physically and emotionally.
  • What for the two of us are "key ingredients" for healing …
  • … and how we can all find our unique resources to nurture the ground for healing.
  • How life is an invitation to remember who we truly are - and have always been!

I am looking forward reading your thoughts and comments about it on instagram or Facebook or any podcast platform you are listening from at the moment, tell me what did you take from this episode and how did it inspire your path and journey. I would be delighted to hear from you what is your unique resource you engage with, to rejuvenate, to feel safe, to be with you - let us all inspire each other and share - what support you might support him or her as well.

23 Oct 2024How menstrual cycle awareness supports you not to burn out! 00:41:28

In this episode I share with you how discovering menstrual cycle awareness has helped me to not continuously burn myself out. I have always felt so passionate for my studies and work that I often pushed myself too hard as I missed the subtle signs of my body saying “stop, we need a break!”. In fact for the longer time of my life (!) I resisted any type of break: I felt guilty during my holiday, got up at 6 am on Sundays and constantly felt chasen by the fear of not having achieved enough. The result was that I would burn out, over and over again. And I felt so bloody tired of it, but didn’t know how to change this pattern. Does that sound familiar? Meeting menstrual cycle awareness in my mid-20th had a huge impact upon my life, suddenly I had a tool to read the rise and fall of energy which my body goes through every month. And responding to these shifts in energy helped me hugely to maintain the voltage in my own battery and sustain a healthy lifestyle.

This episode is for you, if you are ready to stop pushing against and ignoring your body’s messages, but lean into the breath of your own cycle, surf the waves of rise and fall and emerge into your rest and source of creativity.

14 Nov 2024Effortless effort: Healing and embodied presence through dance - with Lizzy Le Quesne.01:04:21

Welcome back to the Soft Rebellion Podcast. I feel so excited, touched and moved sharing this conversation with you during which I felt like I am arriving in every moment, from anew, and deeper. Thank you, Lizzy.

Skinner Releasing Technique is a somatic dance practice and in this episode you will learn how rich of a container and wholly immersive this practice is to come home to your body, find healing and give voice to your very own version of … the Soft Rebellion. Today's guest is Lizzy Le Quesne, a dance artist and teacher of Skinner Releasing Technique. Together we explored her journey from continuously burning herself out and experiencing performance anxiety and how finding Skinner Releasing Technique gave her permission to sense and play again, falling back in love with dance and keep performing.

This conversation is a deep dive into the power of rest and an exploration of what happens when we rest in a new way so to find effortless effort, spontaneity, creativity, embodied presence and arrive in our physical volume with soft strength.

The big take home message for me was so simple, pragmatic, and so bloody hard namely to allow my body to do what she wants to do most, always, and fully trust that voice, always.

In this conversation we explored:

- What Skinner Releasing Technique is. Lizzy shared how this `wholly immersive experience` allows you to become present without anticipation, surrender to being moved and get in touch with that `deep unconscious self` …

- Lizzy`s story and the path which led her to Skinner Releasing Technique. After many `crashes and burn outs` and immense performance anxiety - Lizzy thought she would stop performing at all - Skinner Releasing Technique was a game-changer, a catalyst and an embodied exploration of what healing might be and how healing might feel like …

- We spoke a lot about transitions and transitioning, the fall and rise in energy, that is always happening and not always easy to lean into and navigate … Lizzy shared how Skinner Releasing Technique supported her to transition in movement and in daily life too, we spoke about the transitioning body and the cyclical body and how to harvest the power of transitions to grow an ever-deeper sensory vocabulary.

And a bit more about Lizzy:

Lizzy Le Quesne is a dance artist and certified teacher of Skinner Releasing Technique (SRT). Trained in dance, fine art and several somatic practices, Lizzy works with spatial and kinaesthetic awareness, sourcing embodied freedoms and understanding the physical and energetic self as a vital presence in our world. Her creative practice embraces dance, site, text and photography for different kinds of historical, political and cultural spaces. She teaches professional dancers and dance students internationally, as well as in arts and health in the community. Lizzy writes widely on dance, art, embodiment and somatics in academic and non-academic formats and she has authored chapters in various books including ‘Skinner Releasing Technique - A Movement and Dance Practice' (2021). She produced the first study on SRT and the autonomic nervous system, analysing how SRT supports optimal function of the ANS, and is currently near completion of a practice-based PhD at Coventry University on SRT, somatic dance and processes of embodied becoming.

06 Aug 2023Your body, your teacher. 00:22:44

Yes our body is our best teacher - and this, I feel, requires a deep connection to it, compassionate listening and the nurturing of a very felt experience of the physical matter we inhabit: The breathing body.

The breathing body to me is a spacious body, a soft body, a receptive body, sensing and feeling body, a body which is alert, has the ability to adapt, has mutability, a versatile body, a strong body, a connected body -  a body in motion, a body in tune with its own rhythm and song, a body which is given the space to dance and sing its very own unique melody. The breathing body is a body connected to below and above and all around, able to receive and share - and reveal wisdom from inside.

In this episode I share with you what the breathing body means to me and how I access it through movement, touch, images, imaginations and what I call a poetic approach to human anatomy. I hope you feel inspired maybe as you listen or anytime after to take a break, pause, lean back, rest into yourself and enjoy a sense of expanding space within and around you as your whole being comes to stillness.

In this episode I share with you,

  • What the breathing body means to me
  • What practices and tools I use on a daily base to connect to my physical body
  • And through that process experience more softness, ease, spacious- and lightness within
  • What it means to me to connect to the support of the ground and Mother Earth
  • Why building a sensory vocabulary is enhancing my own life experience
  • And how an interoceptive practice starts a process through which your body reveals its inherent wisdom to you!

02 Oct 2024The witch' s path: Unleashing your magic through fairytale, folklore & ancient myth - Sarah Robinson00:55:14

What does magic and witchcraft mean to you? And how much of it do you allow there to be in your life? The witch, an ancient archetype, is there in all of us, waiting to be awakened and its powers to be used wisely. The witch is the one who gets things done, magically, meaning in flow whilst she is harvesting the ocean of possibilities. And so did my today’s guest Sarah Robinson get a lot done being the author of a whole world of magical books! Together we explored why it is so powerful to invite fairytale, stories and the old ancient myth into our lives - as they help us to remember our true power and call out of us voices, ideas, visions and dreams which otherwise stay hidden.

This conversation is for you if you are ready for a deep dive into how you can dive into the world of magic and witchcraft and how you can bring it into your daily life - and yoga practice!

Sarah Robinson is a yoga teacher and author based in Bath, UK (once named after a goddess: the ancient Roman town of Aquae Sulis). Her background is in science; she holds an MSc Psychology & Neuroscience and has studied at Bath, Exeter and Harvard University. She loves weaving her love of all things mythic, magic and Goddess - and is passionate about creating work that inspires and transforms. Through yoga, meditation and ritual she aims to help everyone connect with their own unique magic and inner power.

In this conversation we talked about:

- Sarah’s so inspiring story and how she dared to move on in moments when “it wasn’t feeling magic”! And yes, this conversation is a wonderful powertalk and invitation for all of us to do the same, reclaim your magic, sisters!

- What magic means to Sarah and how we can bring more of it into our lives. We talked about how to meet those stuck moments along our creative journeys and how to move through them. Sarah shared some amazing practices and tools with us!

- Fairytale, folklore, ancient myths and goddesses. Fairytales speak to us in a very deep way, awakening older parts of our brain and reflect hidden voices. You will hear how connecting with the story of the goddess means to connect to ourselves, how she is a metaphor for possibility and nurtures us deeply.

- How to approach yoga to connect with our special powers and inner magic!

28 Aug 2024How your body can guide you to live your calling - with Sophie-Jane Hardy. 01:03:52

Are you still curiously wondering what this Soft Rebellion is all about? Well, there are as many definitions of the Soft Rebellion as there are women softly rebelling; the key to the Soft Rebellion is that it looks unique for each of us and the closer we are to our instinctual knowing the closer we are to our Soft Rebellion. The Soft Rebellion is she who gives herself permission to be her weird and unique self, it is the beginning of a magic journey and movement, for me, for you and for this podcast.

I am excited to be joined today by the woman who also mid-wifed the birth of The Soft Rebellion podcast and together we started weaving a web of exploring what the Soft Rebellion means to us and how it often emerges through our so challenging and painful stories which really are an invitation to lean into our calling and dreams.

Sophie-Jane Hardy is a nature and cycle-inspired business coach, writer and podcast host. Her happy place is walking along the Rivelin river in Sheffield, UK where she lives with her husband, son, and Frodo the dog. Her work has evolved over 15 years in the fields of not-for-profit communications, documentary filmmaking, women's leadership and environmental activism. She is the host of the Red School Menstruality Podcast and the creator of the Your Cyclical Business online programme helping purpose-led creatives and changemaker to channel the wisdom of their menstrual cycles to create thriving businesses.

In this conversation we explore:

  • The magic birth of The Soft Rebellion Podcast, what the soft rebellion means for Sophie and Flurina and where this movement might take us and what it invites us to emerge into.
  • Sophie's journey and how her body has guided her to emergence into the feminine and to live her calling as a soft rebellion. For Sophie menstrual cycle awareness is the key practice to embody her expression of the soft rebellion on a daily base and she shares with us what that means and how that might look like.
  • Sophie's work as a cyclical business coach and consultant and how our menstrual cycles can be the incredible life coach and guide - our own tailor-made personal guide - and also be our best business coach, if it is purpose-led and a vehicle for our soul work!

31 Jan 2024The art of breathing. In conversation with Jessica Wolf.00:59:26

Hello and welcome to The Breathing Body Podcast - My name is Flurina and I am your host, and I am so happy that you are here.

In this episode I have a conversation with Internationally recognized Alexander Teacher, Jessica Wolf. Jessica is a pioneer in what she does and the founder of «Jessica Wolf`s Art of Breathing» - YES, there is an art to breathing - in her own words:

«We breathe about 23,000 times a day. Anything we do that frequently, we want to do effectively. Breathing is as fundamental to life as the beating of the heart. Because we usually take breathing for granted, we tend not to realize the harmful effects that faulty breathing have on us, nor the freedom we gain by improving how we breathe. When we give ourselves permission to allow our breath to occur freely – rather than control it – we discover extraordinary vitality.»

About Jessica:

Jessica Wolf has been a teacher of the Alexander Technique for 45 years and is a Professor in the Practice of Acting at Yale School of Drama, where she established the first Alexander Training curriculum in 1998. She is also a certified Laban Movement Analyst.

Jessica is the founder of Jessica Wolf’s Art of Breathing, a certification program for Alexander Technique teachers based in her own technique, which integrates principles and procedures developed from her work in respiratory science and education. Jessica published the Art of Breathing: Collected Articles and created the first three‐dimensional animated film of the respiratory system, which has since been translated into Spanish, Chinese, and German. She is currently in development of her next book.

Other faculty appointments include the Aspen Music Festival, The Juilliard School, and the Verbier Music Festival. Jessica coaches performing artists who appear on‐and off‐Broadway, and in films and television. Her work is recognized internationally and she travels giving workshops to performers, teachers, and healthcare providers.

In this conversation we talked about:

  • What led Jessica to explore the topic of breath in so much depth and become an expert and pioneer in her field!
  • How important it is to be able to let go of breath, and «re-learning» to fully exhale
  • The diaphragm! And why it is such a potent structure in our body
  • How nature always regulates breathing and our job is it to get out of the way!
  • What it means to develop a kinaesthetic awareness of breathing and why this is vital for life
  • AND Jessica is talking us through a wonderful visual meditation - her ode to the art of breathing.

04 Sep 2024Time for a big bleed! Why we need rest to tap into our creative power with host Flurina.00:46:53

Welcome to The Soft Rebellion Podcast, I am so happy that you are here.

This podcast is my expression of yearning to come home to the creative power of my female body and I am so excited to share my lived experience with you and invite you to join this movement. And in todays episode I share with you how, oh Sister, I have been on an adventure called "doing nothing and harvest it all" - yes, a big break, a big bleed was calling me home, it was so bloody hard and so fantastic!

This solo episode is about the power of rest and darkness and how we need to be in our dark spaces to meet our true power!

Our bodies are cyclical, each month we experience an expansive phase and a phase of retrieving back home, an inhale phase and an exhale phase. I dismissed the second half of my cycle for many years, neglecting all desires to rest, to take a break and harvest its gifts. I kept doing, running, always chasing - and joined our common tendency of being what I call an inhale society! I still was quite successful but not very fulfilled, and the more I wondered how can I be successful and fulfilled, the more rest and breaks were calling me home … and I feel to share with you today an experience which for me is the answer to this question. I did my first big bleed and I would love to share with you the gifts I harvest in that time. And also the challenges I met.

In this conversation I share with you:

  • About my first BIG BLEED experience, the gifts I harvested and the challenges I met along the way.
  • Why it is crucial to emergence into our rest as we softly rebelliously reclaim the creative power of our female body and how monthly big bleeds can be the doorways to live a successful AND fulfilled life!
  • About the power of meeting the darkness of our womb and how the time of menstruation can the time where you are the closest to your body and your inner wisdom and intuition!

Resources I mentioned:

  • Book: Wild Power by Alexandra Pope and Sjanie Hugo Wurlitzer
  • Podcast episode from The Menstruality podcast about big bleed, episode number

26 Feb 2025The embryo in us: A deep dive into questions about the meaning of human existence - Jaap van der Wal01:01:25

In this fascinating episode, I am joined by Dr. Jaap van der Wal, Ph.D., a medical doctor and renowned expert in embryology and anatomy. Gradually, he developed into a teacher of philosophy of science and medical anthropology and today he calls his teaching “Embryosophy” as he finds in the embryo tentative answers to questions about the meaning of human existence.

Jaap van der Wal has been a teacher of mine in the past and I follow his work with deep respect, admiration and fascination. Whilst feeling very nervous (and aware of the vastness of this topic and my yet little “knowledge”) it was such a delight to talk with him about the Embryo. We were all embryos once, right? This episode guides us to really deeply appreciate that!

The Soft Rebellion is she who awakens to the embryo within her, acknowledges that her being is an embryonic way of life, her adult body a process, always, and allows those forces to keep shaping her being. And dreams.

Enjoy!

04 Dec 2024The softly rebellious call to winter - see you in January!00:20:18

Sometimes we just need to let go. For the time being. And trust that the arising emptiness will birth effortlessly what we have been working towards so hard.

I am feeling tired. I have a strong calling to invite women home to their soft healing power of their bodies … and reclaim their very own version of the Soft Rebellion, their unique, weird and wonderful self. Over the last months I have been playing in various ways how to do that … and I wish to be in a deeper conversation about this, with you. And right now, I don’t know how. So I follow my own softly rebellious knowing and I am going to rest for a month, let it winter and see what arises.

In this episode I share with you how I came to the decision to give myself permission to winter and why it feels so bloody good to go for it!

I am looking forward being with you again in January 2025!

Love,

Flurina

29 Nov 2023Embodiment, Self-care & Healing - With Bonnie Gintis. 00:56:16

Hello and welcome to another episode of the podcast «The breathing body».

My name is Flurina and I am your host -  and I am so happy that you are here.

The body is a process and not an object, not a thing - we can't learn about it, but only experience and live through it - experiencing a living process. And this is what it means to engage the movement of life. This is embodiment …

… Embodiment, Self-care and Healing - we talked about all of that and so much more, explored wonderful, nurturing and inspirational insights and ideas - and equally will leave you with ongoing questions - which's reflection upon is equally nurturing too.

Let me further introduce this episode by telling you about my guest, Bonnie Gintis:

Bonnie Gintis, DO lives in in northern Vermont. She has taught worldwide, addressing physicians and all people interested in exploring embodiment. She retired from Osteopathic private practice in 2009 and now devotes herself to teaching, writing, and exploring new ways to foster health and wellbeing. She is the author of Engaging The Movement Of Life: Exploring Health And Embodiment Through Osteopathy And Continuum.

Bonnie studied Continuum extensively with its founder Emilie Conrad and taught in collaboration with her for a long time. She was authorized by Emilie to teach Continuum herself, and now teaches a synthesis of all her areas of exploration and expertise. Continuum is an exploration into the fluid dance of life as it unfolds through our being and the world around us - a practice where movement is the teacher.

The practice of meditation is and has been fundamental on Bonnie`s journey as well. She trained to be a teacher of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, and has explored many approaches to mindfulness within and outside of Buddhist traditions.

AND, together with her husband she is the host of her own podcast called Osteopathy unplugged - through which they are creating a comprehensive "textbook" of Osteopathic Clinical Philosophy based upon the 21st century oral tradition of podcasting.

In the conversation with Bonnie we talked about …

  • Bonnie`s journey which led her to experience the importance of learning anatomy and physiology from the inside out rather than outside in
  • Why our body is our best textbook!
  • The practice of continuum, an approach for embodied experience
  • What it means to engage the movement of life
  • What the body needs to heal …
  • … and what it means to orientate yourself as a practitioner to the health in the patient
  • The true language of the body - silent felt sensation
  • What you can do to start tapping into and using the potential of your body's true language …
  • … which is self-care!

18 Sep 2024How fear is calling you home to your true power - with Lisa Lister.00:58:22

Do you sometimes (or often) find yourself wondering how to tap into your own magic and how to bring it into physical creation? And do you ask yourself how the h* to tackle all the fears and self-doubts trying to throw you off along the way? I know all these questions so well and I feel so grateful to have had the opportunity to let the one and only Lisa Lister share her wisdom about it.

In this conversation you will learn that in order to do more you have to BE more of who we are. All magic starts with your body. To source from yourself is an expression of pure self-love which is nothing else than a deep and delicious relationship to your own body.

Today's guest Lisa Lister, spent a `hot minute` developing exactly that, coming home into her body, sensing and feeling through all its tastes, colour and rhythms of the experiences and events life offered her. And the result, well, start reading her books … this woman is pure awesomeness indeed!

The Cooler magazine crowned Lisa ‘the defender of female awesomeness’ , Lisa is a bestselling author, visionary artist + women’s wellness practitioner. She offers support, space, remembrance, spiritual guidance, astrological insight, cyclic maps and counsel to women who are exploring, navigating and wanting to heal their relationship with their body, power, sex, creativity, pleasure and passion.

Lisa took the decision to dedicate her life to create art to help other women to reclaim their power. And in this conversation she shares with us her journey and what process she committed to be able to shine her unique magic into the world today. We also talked about the fear she met and you might meet along the way and how to reclaim the power within.

In this conversation we explore:

  • How our bodies are the vessel to uncover our unique magic within and to share it with the world. Lisa shares practices and routines which emerged from her personal story and shares so many lush inputs and insights to lean into the wisdom of your body right now! Warning: This episode is very infectious!

  • How to meet fear and comparison and how those experiences really are calling us home to our true power and can be gateways to remember that we always have a choice - it is just not always comfortable - and to take decisions which are aligned with our calling.

  • That we are all creatrixes and being creative is our birth right, Lisa talks about the power of sharing our lived experience, pure, raw and humble, and how if we all do this we strengthen the collective voice of the sacred feminine in the world.

17 Jan 2024 Healing from eating difficulties through storytelling and metaphor - and living a life beyond your wildest dreams - PART 2 with Dr. Anita Johnston00:58:48

It is with great intention that the second episode of this year is with today's guest Dr. Anita Johnston. As I shared with you in the last episode me and my body, this is my story. I found healing from disordered eating when I allowed a dialogue between my body and me and when I gave her a voice. The power within emotions and feelings became the sweetest song and strongest dance I could ever share. This is my creator force and feminine spirit, wanting to be awakened and expressed.

And along my healing journey the work and book from Dr. Anita Johnston was such a fundamental and important part and it means the world to me to share her work with you today!

… and by doing this curving the path and direction of this podcast a bit deeper - may this podcast be a source of inspiration for all of us to be awakened to the miraculous body we are and inhabit and may it be a platform for women who are going a similar path like I did to find inspiration and support to heal from disordered eating and awaken to their feminine spirit.

Let me introduce my guest, Dr. Anita Johnston:

Anita Johnston, Ph.D., is a Clinical Psychologist, Certified Eating Disorder Specialist, and author of Eating in the Light of the Moon, which has been published in seven languages.

In the conversation with Anita we talked about …

  • What led Anita to become an expert and pioneer in the field of eating disorder recovery
  • The feminine archetype and why eating disorder recovery invites us to find a balance between the feminine and masculine
  • Why the moments we experience eating disorder behaviour are windows of opportunity to heal and meet yourself!
  • How to «crack the hunger code» and why the foods we struggle with the most are the keys to deepest understanding of yourself
  • The healing power of giving a voice to hidden feelings and emotions
  • How to take first or further steps on your recovery in order to live a life beyond your wildest dreams and shine your gift into the world!

I hope you enjoyed this episode and that you gained a lot of new insights and inspirations and feel encouraged and motivated from anew to explore how you eat and why you are doing what you are doing with food.

Please leave a comment, a review and share it with your friends and family - it is the dialogue with you, dear listeners which hugely supports my work and keeps this podcast going, so thank you thank you thank you for all your support.

12 Mar 2025The power of menstruality to dismantle inequalities within ourselves and the world. Dr. Cre Dye01:05:02

What does social justice and inclusion mean to you? What stories of your past make you to notice, sense and feel racial injustice? Where in you does personal injustice live? And how do you feel you can use your practice of menstrual cycle awareness to dismantle inequalities within you and the world?

In this episode I am embarking on a racial injustice inquiry with Dr. Cre Dye, a dear friend, teacher, mentor, sister and such an incredible woman! Yes, we are the daughters of our stories and the stories that inform who we are, are the seeds of our revolutionary work. So let us look deep within and do the work! I am truly excited and honoured to share this conversation with you.

About Cre:

The theme of social justice and inclusion is a red thread in Dr. Cre`s Soft Rebellion journey and is how she is guiding herself and others back to the body, back home to belonging, and how she helps us understand how can be be together and support each other as a community and as human beings.

Dr. Cre is an Associate Professor,  Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and Supervisor and Registered Yoga Teacher/Trainer – 500. She has served her local, national, and international communities with heart, mind and body activism for over 25 years as a mental health therapist, yoga teacher / trainer and university professor. She is also part of the Red School team as a Menstruality Justice and Inclusion Educator, facilitating inner change for social change on our Menstruality Leadership Programme, supporting us all to work with the power of the cycle in a way that is just and inclusive.

In this conversation we explored:

- Dr. Cre Dye`s journey of being born into a family of a black mother and a white father, how she grew into a world of difference and how this work (of social justice and inclusion) has birthed her. We explore how the environment we grow into shapes our believes about the world around us and how the concept of cognitive dissonance helps us to wake up from veils of illusion.

- Why inner change equals social change. Dr. Cre Dye shared with us why feeling guilty for being privileged isn’t the way forward but becoming conscious about differences in our lives and using our privileges to “fill the gap” and and create opportunities for others, thereby fostering a more equitable and compassionate society.

- How we can use the practice of menstrual cycle awareness to dismantle inequalities within ourselves and the world. Our menstrual cycle is our greatest guide to become aware of the different aspects within ourselves and perspective around us, empowering us to challenge the societal norms that perpetuate imbalance.

Enjoy!

27 Nov 2024Unlocking the mysteries of the female body: An evolutionary perspective. Dr. Deena Emera01:02:02

What’s the story of the women’s bodies? And what can the evolutionary biology of the female body teach us about our health, agency, and creative power? The functions of the female body have always been shroud in mysteries, and often myths and misconceptions. As our understanding of our own anatomy and physiology evolves we still have such big questions such as why do women go through menopause? Why do we have periods unlike other mammals? What’s the function of the female orgasm? Why are we in the midst of a fertility crisis? And why is reproductive choice a vital instinct?

In this episode of The Soft Rebellion, evolutionary biologist, author, and teacher Dr. Deena Emera joins me to explore exactly that: The mysteries of the female body through an evolutionary lens. Her research on the biology of pregnancy in mammals and the deep history of our female bodies reveals powerful insights into how we can better understand and reclaim our innate feminine wisdom.

Talking to Deena expanded what the Soft Rebellion means (to me) so much: The Soft Rebellion is she who knows that her body is her own, she who knows its power, she who knows that reproductive choice is at the core of being a female mammal and a deeply ingrained and vital instinct.

This episode is for you if you are ready to let the ancient science and evolutionary biology of the female bod, change your view and experience of your own body, and to follow its invitation to slow down in a world where we are caught in a struggle between our bodies and cultural evolution.

In this conversation we talked about:

- Deena’s journey to dedicating her life’s work to study the evolutionary biology of the female body, unlock its powerful mysteries and share her work with the world.

- Deena’s research about the evolution of pregnancy in mammals, how studying our evolutionary history can change our understanding health and disease and what this lens taught Deena about mothering and the meaning of motherhood.

- The cultural vs. biological evolution of the female body and why this tension shapes our modern experience of health and wellness, we explored reproductive choice as an essential act of female agency, rooted in the evolutionary biology of mammals, and why it’s at the core of women’s fight for bodily autonomy.

About Deena:

Deena Emera, PhD, is an evolutionary biologist, author, and teacher. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Integrative Biology from UC Berkeley, a master’s degree in Physical Anthropology from NYU, and a PhD in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Yale. She currently serves as a senior scientist at the Buck Institute’s Buck Center for Healthy Aging in Women. Her current work is focused on the genetic basis of reproductive longevity in mammals. In her recent book A Brief History of the Female Body, Deena draws on her expertise as a biologist and experience as a mother of four to explore the mysteries of the female body through an evolutionary lens.

20 Mar 2025From silence to connection - the power of talking about the menstrual cycle in public. 00:21:47

What if the journey of homecoming to the female body begins with sharing our experiences of inhabiting a female body?

In this solo episode I share with you a recent so magical, joyful and bloody powerful encounter in my favourite coffee shop in South East London in which a “business” meeting transformed into a circle of connection with another woman. We openly and shamelessly discussed menstruality, inspiring the women around us to do the same. This experience is giving birth to a new, deeply meaningful definition of the Soft Rebellion. Enjoy!

19 Feb 2025How to navigate being highly sensitive. With Jo Sheppard. 01:02:11

How can being highly sensitive be a gift rather than a burden, and how do we learn to embrace and navigate that sensitivity in our lives and work?

In this episode, we dive into the world of bodywork and healing. Jo is an experienced Osteopath whose journey has taken her beyond physical health and into the realms of emotional and spiritual. We explored how we can create a safe space for ourselves - and our patients - to surrender, trust and come home to our bodies. Jo shared how she navigated and still navigates her path as a highly sensitive being and it can be a gateway for deep transformation.

If you’re someone who identifies as highly sensitive or if you’re curious about how shamanic practices can be integrated into modern therapeutic work, this episode is for you. Tune in to hear Jo's powerful insights and learn how you can navigate your own healing journey with more softness, trust, and confidence - and meet the fear of being “weird” or “witchy”!

Read more about Jo:

Jo initially earned a degree in Fine Art before retraining as an Osteopath, inspired by her own positive experience with osteopathic treatment for back pain. She has been a practicing Osteopath for over 17 years. In addition to her clinical work, Jo lectures at the European School of Osteopathy and serves as a personal tutor and student mentor.

Jo’s specialist interest lies in working with the effects of trauma and stress, whether stemming from physical or emotional causes. During her exploration of trauma responses, she encountered the shamanic concept of "soul loss," which sparked her interest in shamanism and indigenous healing practices. Since 2019, Jo has been training in psycho-spiritual and therapeutic shamanism, focusing on integrating shamanic techniques into modern therapeutic settings.

Jo is also deeply committed to supporting her fellow osteopathic colleagues in leading happy and fulfilling professional lives. She is currently training to become a supervisor, aiming to guide osteopaths towards a more confident, joyful, and fulfilling practice.

In this conversation we talked about:

* Jo's journey from Fine Art to Osteopathy: How her personal experience with back pain led her to explore the healing arts — and why understanding that sensitivity doesn’t equal shyness has been key.

* Exploring sensitivity as a strength: Jo shares her own healing journey as a sensitive person, coming to understand her emotional and physical sensitivity as a powerful tool rather than something to be "fixed."

* How Jo meets trauma and stress in her clinical practice: Jo introduces shamanic practices and explains how she integrates these ancient techniques with Osteopathic treatment to address trauma and emotional blockages.

- And so much more … :-)

06 Aug 2023Back to the roots - How to live a bloody brilliant life! - with guest Josianne Hosner01:02:01
In this episode I am talking to the wonderful Josianne Hoesener. Josianne is a menstrual-cycle-mentor , «Menstruationskundige» and author. More information about Josianne`s work and book: You can find all about Josianne on her webpage: www.quittenduft.ch More links about the episode: Books in ENGLISH (recommended by Josianne!) about menstruation and living a cyclical life: «Code red» by Lisa Lister and «Moon time» by Lucy H. 09 Oct 2024The wild and poetic anatomy of your calling - and how to navigate feeling confused. 00:36:37

In this episode, we delve into the journey of discovering and nurturing our true calling. Together, we explore what it means to feel called, how to reconnect with that inner voice, and find our way back home — even when the path seems clouded by confusion and overwhelm.

Have you ever found yourself in that uncertain space, wondering, “How the heck will I ever know what I’m meant to do?” When your heart yearns for something that feels just out of reach, it can create a tumultuous internal struggle. I share my own experiences from the past few weeks—navigating feelings of confusion and being pulled in multiple directions by a whirlwind of options and emotions.

Through my reflections, I discuss how important it is to stay connected to our true calling and to listen to our bodies, which serve as vessels for our deeper knowing. I’ll guide you on how to cultivate this relationship and summon the courage to take the next steps, even when the path ahead feels unclear.

In this conversation I share with you:

- The power of resting on your back!

- How to set your inner compass and what to align it with - what would your Soft Rebellion follow?

- What the embryo has to do with finding your calling.

- How to balance being and doing when navigating your path whilst feeling confused.

Hello and welcome to another episode of the podcast «The breathing body». My name is Flurina and I am your host -  and I am so happy that you are here.

YES we live in a world in which electronic devices rule our days and overstimulation often is our normal state! A high percentage of our society is suffering with various anxiety disorders, including the very young children - it seems that we lost our natural rhythmic connection to nature, inside and outside us, and rather than celebrating our connection to the wholeness we are, we despair in separation.

And YES, this is a world in which self-empowerment is so important and we need tools and resources which support us to change this state of overstimulation and anxiety. And this is what today's episode is all about:

Ian and I talked about his newest book «Healing anxiety» and how we can actively and consciously use our breath to rewire our brains and heal anxiety - and even more and deeper find back and reorientate to your own health - which means to connect to the natural process of unfolding - a force and gesture which was and is always present in all of us, right form the start of our journey as a conceptus in our mother s womb.

My colleague and friend Ian graduated from the British School of Osteopathy in 1992 and has been practicing as an Osteopath since. He studied and later taught at the Osteopathic Center for Children in London - he has further been involved in teaching Osteopathy in the Cranial field for the Sutherland Cranial College as well as the British School of Osteopathy. Today Ian is based in Ireland where he set up his own clinic and established the Irish Diploma in Paediatric Osteopathy whilst he continues to teach internationally. The Irish diploma in paediatric osteopathy involved setting up «The Daisy clinic trust» - a charity with the dual purposes of treating children with special needs and training osteopaths in paediatrics. For more than 10 years Ian has also been teaching a course called «The Dynamics of stillness» which teaches osteopaths and non-osteopaths a sequence of meditations, contemplation practices and exercises designed to deepen sensory awareness. Behind each technique, he describes, is a process of developing a deeper and deeper connection to the stillness in and around us, alongside connection with the deep fluid tides of nature and, importantly to the expression of our underlying potential for deep Health.

In this conversation with Ian we talked about:

  • … how we can use our breath to restore our fundmental connection to health …
  • … and experience empowerment about our own health through this healing experience.
  • … what the job of an osteopath is which is to support a patient to access their own health potential
  • … what healing means to Ian
  • … Ian`s new book «Healing anxiety» and what happens with your brain structurally if you suffer anxiety for a long time …
  • … that anxiety is born from a sense of disconnection and separation from wholeness
  • … and the self-empowering practices Ian is teaching offering an active practices to rewire  the brain and reorientate ourselves to health

I am looking forward reading your thoughts and comments about it on instagram or Facebook or any podcast platform you are listening from at the moment, tell me what did you take from this episode and how did it inspire your path and journey.

Love, Flurina

09 Jun 2024Untangling the meaning of pain as a doorway to reach more fully into yourself - with Peter Blackaby.02:07:21
Hello and welcome to The Breathing Body Podcast - My name is Flurina and I am your host, and I am so happy that you are here. Today's episode invites you to listen to Pete`s journey away from structure and alignment into sensation and movement - and how this transition shaped his lens through which he approaches the concept of pain and chronic pain in particular. This conversation is for YOU if you would like to explore how you can start to untangle the meaning of both physical and emotional pain and how the experience of pain can be a doorway to meet yourself and `to reach into yourself more fully`. About Pete: Peter is an UK based Osteopath and yoga teacher, both teaching regular classes and workshops and training various movement practitioners. His approach is so unique as you will find out in this episode and also influenced strongly by the work of Vanda Scaravelli. Pete continues to explore ways to make yoga accessible and relevant to practitioners in the 21st Century. Over the last fifteen years he has contributed to various teacher training courses both in the UK and abroad, but his central interest has been the development of his humanistic yoga courses which aims to understand yoga from modern understandings of neurology, psychology and biomechanics. He is the author of the book called "Intelligent Yoga" in which he describes his humanistic approach to yoga, firmly rooted in the here and now and underpinned by scientific research. In this second edition, he seeks to distance himself further from the biomechanical view of the body, revealing instead his more integrative perspective, focused on the neurological basis for movement and on the relationships between things. Rather than approaching yoga as an exercise system, it is seen here as a tool for self-exploration and as we explored in tis conversation as a tool to increase the accuracy of our perception - maybe the most important tool we can ever engage with? In this conversation we talked about: ✨ The illusion of our tendency to separate body and mind - especially in relation to pain ✨ How understanding pain invites us to learn to think biologically and what this means ✨ Role of movement in experience of pain and healing - what if feeling arises from bodily changes? ✨ How yoga can be a practice to increase the accuracy of your perception and its role in (chronic) pain ✨ What practice you can do to embark in this process, grow your sensory vocabulary and create space to heal This is how you can connect with Peter Blackaby: - Visit his webpage: www.peterblackaby.co.uk I hope you enjoy this episode and I am looking forward reading your thoughts and comments. 16 Jan 2024Healing from eating difficulties and living a life beyond my wildest dreams. My story. 00:52:11

Hello and welcome to the first episode of  «The breathing body» podcast after the Christmas break. My name is Flurina and I am your host -  and I am so happy that you are here - and I am so excited diving into a new year with you.

It is with great intention - and with a huge step out of my comfort zone -  that the first episode of this new year is a solo episode. Me and my body this is my story. I found healing from disordered eating when I allowed a dialogue between my body me and when I gave her a voice. The power within emotions and feelings became the sweetest song and strongest dance I could ever share. This is my creator force and feminine spirit, wanting to be awakened and expressed.

This story I share with you today.

… and by doing this curving the path and direction of this podcast a bit deeper - may this podcast be a source of inspiration / an archive for all of us to be awakened to the miraculous body we are and inhabit and may it be a platform for women who are going a similar path like I did and do to find inspiration and support to heal from disordered eating and awaken to their feminine spirit.

During this time, I encountered many somatic practices, in particular the Alexander Technique and Ideokinesis which continuously teaches me as a facilitator the art of creating space and finding ease in movement by using images and imaginations.

In this episode you learn a lot about myself, my journey through an eating disorder and the insights I won from it. I talk about …

  • I talk about the pearls of my childhood
  • Why I was convinced for years that  "I am not good enough"
  • And how this lead me to struggle with food
  • What therapies worked for me and which didn't!
  • Why learning about the embryo was a key point on my recovery path
  • What pain means to me
  • My top recovery "supporters":
  • Dr. Anita Johnston`s wonderful book and how it saved my life!
  • How healing through an eating disorder allows you to create a life beyond your greatest dreams!

I hope you can take something with you listening to my story, thoughts, insights, inspirations and action steps which I shared in today's episode - and that it nurtures your journey and healing too.

I am looking forward hearing from you - what inspired you the most? What was most precious for you from today's episode? What would you like to hear more about? I am excited to read about your thoughts of this episode - share it with me on Instagram @flurina_breathingbody.

Lots of love to you,

12 Feb 2025Breaking free from toxic productivity: A journey of healing and renewal. Tamu Thomas. 00:57:23

Do you catch yourself measuring your worth by how much you do, and how much what you do benefits others? If so, you’re not alone. As my guest today, Tamu Thomas, says – it’s not your fault.

Tamu Thomas is the author of the groundbreaking book, Women Who Work Too Much: Break Free from Toxic Productivity. She’s a transformational coach and thought-provoking keynote speaker, passionately advocating for the well-being and success of high-achieving women. Tamu’s mission is to dismantle the societal and systemic barriers that lead to burnout, helping women create work lives that feel deeply fulfilling and aligned with their values.

Through her coaching, speaking, and writing, Tamu addresses the complex relationship between productivity, joy, and well-being. She empowers ambitious women to transition from toxic productivity cycles to lives where rest, self-worth, and authentic ambition coexist.

Join us in this conversation as we explore how to break free from toxic productivity, heal, and become the change the world so desperately needs.

In this conversation we explored:

- Tamu’s journey from growing up in a lineage of women who worked tirelessly and learned early on that hard work was tied to worthiness. We discuss the impact of intergenerational experiences, how these shape our epigenetics and the woman we become.

- How she realised that the struggle to work too much isn’t personal, but systemic. Tamu shares insights on how many of us end up caught in cycles of overwork, the addictive nature of productivity, and the damaging link between rewards and burnout. We also explore why rest often feels shameful.

- Why understanding our biology is key. We’re cyclical beings, we can’t be on 24/7, we must learn to listen to the needs of our body and name our feelings and emotions.

- How we can all break the cycle of toxic productivity, namely by honoring our legacies, healing ancestral wounds, and transforming trauma into power. Tamu shares simple and so powerful practices to navigate overwhelm and turn burnout into a pathway for renewal.

Enjoy!

25 Sep 2024The wild and poetic anatomy of your heart. 01:01:05

Welcome to The Soft Rebellion Podcast, I am so happy that you are here.

By the time your were only four weeks old floating in your mother’s womb your heart was there circulating blood to every cell and organ to become, your heart is still  there 24 hours, 7 days a week, your whole earthy live. It is always with us and yet we so rarely attend to it, only noticing it when we’re out of breath or feeling uncomfortably nervous. Your heart is so much more than an organ, so much more than a pump ensuring the flow of blood in your body. Your heart is a gateway to your creative power! And this is why I dedicate this whole episode to the wild and poetic anatomy of your heart.

By recording this podcast episode I am grounding myself in my sacred medicine, weaving together a decade of experience in dance, anatomy and osteopathy and I explore how the story of the embryo, the story of how your body came to be brings alive its wild and poetic anatomy - she who guides us home to the creative power of our female body.

In this conversation I share with you:

  • Softly rebellious facts and insights about the anatomy of your heart - we explore the wings of your lungs, the dome of your diaphragms, the outpouring of great vessels and the pliability of your lungs.

  • How your heart developed and created itself during your time in your mother’s womb and what this story might have to teach you about the expression of your creative power.

  • How our heart helps us to reclaim space, movement and flow and what practices and questions you can engage with to attend to the story of your heart and let its wisdom flood your life.

14 Feb 2024Being your own scientist: A yoga practice of curiosity and ongoing investigation - where the magic happens. With Julie Martin 01:10:28

Hello and welcome to The Breathing Body Podcast - My name is Flurina and I am your host, and I am so happy that you are here.

Does that sound familiar to you, the more you practiced yoga, the more you realised it is about so much more than the shapes and postures? And you find doorways you would have never thought you would? And it feels like new worlds open up? That is what yoga is about! Yoga asana is not the same as yoga philosophy and the practice isn't in the asana but the awareness - the beauty of the practice lies within the ability of taking our awareness back to the felt sense in the very moment - and then the practice is empowering. And embodied. And magic happens.

I had such an inspiring and refreshing conversation with Julie which made myself fell in love with my own yoga practice again! Yes, movement is our birth right, and silent felt sensation the true language of our body and it is our responsibility to tap into those sources and inspire others to do so too.

About Julie:

Raised as a Vedantist, she grew up immersed in the philosophy of yoga. In her 20's she began to practice asana and research different ways of moving while studying the history of yoga. The resulting discovery is that yoga is EVOLVING and always has, so we have permission to explore these practices, challenge the myths, and move forward with knowledge and awareness. Her mission is to EMPOWER your practice. To help find your own pace, fluidity, and strength in a structure that is an invitation, not a rule. Tap into your curiosity and trust your experience to take charge of your practice on and off the mat.

In this conversation with Julie we talked about:

  • How Julie's upbringing curved her path to yoga
  • How integrating the history of yoga into the physical practice revolutionized the way she uses her body:
  • Julie's practice became one of investigation where curiosity and discovery is the goal and she lost interest in end-results!
  • Yoga asana is not the same as yoga philosophy …
  • And the practice is not in the asana, but in the awareness
  • It is fundamental that we need to let go of a shape-based practice and embrace an embodied practice
  • Communication is key! What language do we need to teach yoga?
  • Julie shared with us how we can start approaching and changing our practice for it to become an embodied and empowered one

I hope you will enjoy this episode and I am so much looking forward hearing from you - share with me how listening to Julie inspired and nurtured your yoga practice from anew and what you took from this conversation.
