09 Apr 2024342: How to find + recruit great talent - with Kelly Simants00:41:06

Switching gears, we’re now focused on simplifying topics for those who work in all aspects of HR, human resources next. Recruiters - are you struggling to find and recruit great talent these days? Word on the street is that recruiters are inundated with hundreds of applications for open roles but that doesn’t always mean they are qualified candidates. The result? It’s making it really hard to source the right people, like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

My special guest today is senior HR consultant and career coach, Kelly Simants and she’s simplifying how to find and recruit great talent. Here’s a peek behind the curtain to see how smart recruiters are sourcing great talent as she shares her very best tips.

Here’s how.

My special guest today is Kelly Simants and she’s simplifying how to find + recruit great talent.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • Her take on what’s going on in the job market right now and why it seems so different in 2024.

  • With the influx of candidates in the market and AI making it easier for them to submit applications faster (but might not be qualified for the role), how smart recruiters are weeding through the stacks of resumes to find the very best talent for the role.

  • How to review a resume quickly to see great potential, especially if the candidate has a non-traditional career path. What she looks for.

  • How recruiters can freshen up the interview process to improve the candidate experience.

  • …and ultimately, she shares a couple of tools that she is using as a recruiter to help shorten the “time to fill” for a role.

Q: Are you ready to learn how to find + recruit great talent? If yes, this one is for you.

19 Nov 2021206: How to become a BOLD woman - with Caytie Langford (PART TWO)00:26:46

Earlier this week, we shared part one of this conversation, all about how to become a BOLD woman and it got me thinking… really, I think we are all bold at different seasons in our lives. Heck, our boldness might change by the hour, or even by the email we open in our inbox. It fluctuates given the situation and that’s completely normal. Yet, if you’ve found yourself not recovering as fast as you used to, my hope is this conversation helps you get back to center once again.

Now, if you haven’t heard part one, go back and listen to that one first. But if you’re ready to continue on, let’s pick back up here with my conversation with executive coach Caytie Langford as she simplifies how to become a BOLD woman.

It’s time to simplify…

Here’s how.

My special guest today is Caytie Langford and she’s simplifying how to become a BOLD woman.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • In her mind, what it means to be “bold” - especially these days as a woman
  • What the underlying problems are that keep women from being bold and equally, what the antidote is
  • How to cultivate more confidence in our work and lives
  • Culture says we must be “meek and mild” - she talks about “acts of rebellion” - what that means and how we can do it in simple ways every single day
  • …and ultimately, if overachieving and striving was our old ways of doing things, what a better alternative is to find your calling and take action.

It’s another week of our new way of podcasting, splitting the weekly episode up into two parts… We've been getting lots of positive feedback from you on this!

If you haven’t heard yet, we are releasing the first half now and part two on Friday this week. That way, the content is in a smaller, bite-size portion for you to listen to now, simmer on this entire week and be intentional with integrating what you learn into your everyday life.

We are simplifying our episodes to be shorter in length, easier to listen to, on-the-go.

Things have changed with the pandemic, including our old ways of listening to podcasts (either on our commute or at the gym)…and we’ve listened. Now you get shorter episodes, split into two for simpler learning.

Q: Are you ready to become a BOLD woman? If yes, this one is for you.

It’s time to #DoTheThing

03 Aug 2021181: How to improve your digestion - with Tyler Mayoras00:46:53

Today, we are talking all about how to improve your digestion. Are you feeling a bit bloated, and well, clogged up? Aha, this one is for you!

My special guest today is Cool Beans co-founder Tyler Mayoras and he’s simplifying how to improve your digestion. There’s nothing worse than having tummy aches and feeling like your body isn’t working right. Tyler believes that with a few simple shifts in what you eat, all of this could improve fairly quickly.

Here’s how.

My special guest today is Tyler Mayoras and he’s simplifying how to improve your digestion.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • Why focusing on your gut health and digestion is so (darn) important these days for whole body health and wellness
  • What the big secret is behind beans as a superfood… and how to incorporate more beans into your meals, in a simple way
  • How to have more food diversity in what you eat weekly and why so many people are going plant-based nowadays
  • With new food innovation these days, there seem to be more plant-based choices in our grocery stores than ever before. How to avoid the “vegan junk food” craze and make better choices when grocery shopping
  • …and ultimately, I asked him about his take on “The Carnivore Diet” (aka. only eating meat) that seems to be the latest fad and is it good for your body or not?

If you’ve been contemplating making a shift towards a plant-based diet or going vegetarian, you’ll definitely enjoy this conversation. And it might start small like doing “Meatless Monday” or taking the time to read the labels when you shop for groceries. Remember, you’re looking for items made from whole food, minimally processed ingredients. Less packaging and added chemicals/preservatives, more plants is best. You’ll find your brain fog disappears, the bloating melts away, and your skin is clearer. Yes, yes, and YES!

Q: Are you ready to improve your digestion? If yes, this one is for you.

19 Mar 2019057: How to manage screen time with your kids - with Arlene Pellicane00:47:24

If you’ve got kids, you know how frustrating it can be to peel them away from their screens these days. I mean, at times, it seems like they are total zombies who can’t take their eyeballs off the blinking lights and ridiculous cat videos… wanting more, more, MORE! (Note to self: have I just described myself or my kid? Carry on.)

As a parent of children who’ve grown up in this tech-driven, digital age, how do we manage screen time without losing our own (darn) minds?!

Arlene Pellicane is back to simplify how to manage screen time with your kids.

Note, the operative word here is “with” - not “for” as Arlene believes this is something you do together, as a family… not top-down management. If what you’ve been trying lately isn’t working with your kids, this episode is for you.

Arlene Pellicane, is the co-author of Growing Up Social: Raising Relational Kids in a Screen-Driven World and author of Calm, Cool, and Connected: 5 Digital Habits for a More Balanced Life.

In this episode, you will learn:

  • The average amount of time a child spends in front of a screen per day, and how (exactly) this affects their brain and emotional development
  • What the five “A+ emotional skills” we could instill in our kids that will help them break the addiction
    • The Skill of Affection – How do you show real love to another person?
    • The Skill of Appreciation – How do you cultivate a grateful heart?
    • The Skill of Attention – How do you focus and be a good listener?
    • The Skill of Anger Management – How do you express anger in a productive way?
    • The Skill of Apology – How do you mend a relationship after you make a mistake?
  • Additional ways you can take back your home from an over-dependence on screens. This includes:
    • How to set healthy boundaries
    • Ideas on how to create meaningful family time together
  • What to do when you’re working from home or just need to get stuff done
    • Arlene shares healthier ideas to engage and entertain - without a screen

Arlene co-authored the book, Growing Up Social: Raising Relational Kids in a Screen-Driven World, with Dr. Gary Chapman, so I’m sure you’ll see undertones of The 5 Love Languages woven into our conversation today, as well.

It’s not about banishing screens from your household… but rather, becoming screen savvy as a family, and learning how to raise relational kids in a screen-driven world.

24 Nov 2020145: How to systemize your business - with Monique Malcolm00:45:58

What does it mean to systemize your business? Great question… it’s all about automating the recurring tasks, creating structure where there is chaos, and ultimately, doing less. Doesn’t that sound nice? Well, it’s totally possible and all within your grasp, too.

My special guest today is Monique Malcolm and she’s simplifying how to systemize your business. If you’re feeling like you’re constantly spinning your wheels and pulling late nights to get everything accomplished, it’s time to level up and put in place a few systems and processes. We break it all down for you in simple, easy to follow steps.

Here’s how.

My special guest today is Monique Malcolm and she’s simplifying how to systemize your business.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • First off, why this is important and the reasons why even a solopreneur really needs a training manual, as well
  • What the difference is between “systems” and “processes”... and “tools”
  • Where to begin - what’s the first step when systemizing your business
  • How to determine your “D/W/M/Q” tasks and how to begin to document the steps out
  • …and ultimately, decide which project management tool you need to stay on track.

I really want to encourage you to take the next six weeks as a time to focus on your business. As we move into the holiday season, it’s easy to take the foot off the gas pedal and wind things down. Look, slowing down is fine and necessary, periodically.

However, in that space of rest and reflection, vow to take tiny, baby steps towards systemizing your business. Get yourself in a place where you feel confident moving into the new year as an entrepreneur. It’s time to simplify!

Q: Are you ready to systemize your business? If yes, this one is for you.

20 Jul 2018B019 - One Simple Thing to Lose Weight00:05:37

Today, I want to talk about one simple thing you can do to lose weight.

Are you ready for it?
Drum roll, please.

Up your water consumption.

No really, simply drink more water.

When you become dehydrated, your body actually confuses thirst for hunger. You will reach for a snack because your body thinks it needs food for energy. This is just one of your body’s many cries for water.

I’m willing to bet in the summer months, you’re totally, utterly dehydrated and depleted and don’t even know it. How do I know this? Well, I was the same exact way until I did something about it.

Other symptoms of dehydration to look out for:

  • Fatigue and weakness in your muscles
  • Dry skin
  • Dark colored urine
  • Headaches
  • Tingling in the limbs
  • …and duh, dry mouth.

When your body doesn’t have enough water, it literally hangs on to all you have given it. This can make you look and feel bloated, heavy and lifeless. The antidote is to drink more water, so your body can relax and let the water flush through, cleansing and revitalizing your body and mind along the way. Did you know - feeling hydrated helps improve mental alertness too?

Let’s #DoTheThing guys… let’s drink more water!

Simple tricks to drink more water:

  • Carry around a reusable BPA-free water bottle everywhere you go. (And if you’re in the UK, be the envy of the office with a customized Love Island one!)
  • Track how much you drink... you might be surprised how little water you are actually drinking. Get the 5 ★ ‘Drink Water’ app on Apple iOS and Android.
  • Have a water challenge at work. Who can drink the most in the work-week? Maybe offer a reward to the person who blasts through their goals?
  • Remember, “if you pee clear, cheer!” What you’re trying to do is flush your system. So the more water you drink, the more diluted your pee gets. And that’s a visual cue that you’re on the path towards healing once again.
  • Boost your mood, give yourself this gift. Instead of reaching for sweets or another cup of coffee, what about a nice, cool refreshing glass of water with fresh cucumber or mint or lemon in it. Doesn’t that sound nice??

But of course, go see your doctor for professional advice on your nutrition and health. As it gets hotter in the summer months, you’ll need to drink more than you think, especially if you do lots of exercise.

And if you reach for a snack…

Snack on fruit and vegetables which have a really high water content to help you hydrate. Cucumber, lettuce, celery, watermelon, strawberries, grapefruit are just a few. Try a lucious salad or even fruit salad with your cool glass of water rather than that sandwich or bag of crisps. You’ll be dropping poundsand loving how you feel and lookin no time.

And just one final whisper, just from me to you, dear friend… come in closer.

Our bodies are made up of water.

It’s time to fill your tank once again.

It is the ultimate sign to your soul that you love her, you want to nourish her and if you’ve got running water at home—it’s 100% free.

This one simple thing could change everything.

Give yourself this gift right now.

You can do this, I believe in you.

My special guest today is Stephenie Zamora and she’s simplifying how to reorient after a big life transition.

27 Dec 2019B094: How to create a strategic plan for the year ahead00:15:52

Ready to create a strategic plan for the year ahead? Now, my focus in today’s talk is primarily on your business, but honestly, the principles ring true if you want to put a simple plan together for your personal life, as well.

Earlier this week, I spoke to Dr. Daniel all about how to improve your gut health and it really inspired me. He reminded us that when it comes to your health, you don’t necessarily need to make big, sweeping changes like throwing the baby out with the bath water. (Guilty, as charged… I find that’s my knee-jerk reaction, as well.) But rather it all comes down to the 80/20 rule. Keep the 80% that’s working, refine the 20%.

And I find that when I’ve got a plan in place that maps out (in broad brushstrokes) where I’m headed each month, it’s like having a steady north star for the journey ahead.

So, let’s talk about the 5 things to consider while mapping out your plan for the year ahead. It all boils down to:

  • 12 months, 12 challenges, 12 sprints
  • Laser focus in HIGH
  • Set a clear financial and non-financial goal
  • Track your results
  • 3 weeks on, 1 week off to reflect

Let’s simplify that…

04 Dec 2018042: How to Simply START - with Kristy Dickerson00:36:46

The new year is right around the corner, and it’s a great time to start something. You may be thinking, ‘well, I’ve got time… I’ll do that later’ or ‘oh, I’m super busy right now, I couldn’t add another thing to my plate.’

I feel ya. I’ve said those things myself over the years too.

But why do we do that?

It baffles my mind - we know what we need to do to root in a new, healthier habit. Or to get a new initiative off the ground… but something seems to always stops us. Makes us pump the brakes. Or keeps us from even taking the very first step.

What’s that about?

I wanted to get to the bottom of this and decided to invite a friend and CEO of four brands onto the podcast to talk about what she’s learned over the years.

My guest, Kristy Dickerson shares how to simply start a new idea, project or initiative as a business owner.

In this episode, you will learn:

  • The most important step when starting something new
  • How to overcome the fear, instead of letting it paralyze us from getting something off the ground
  • Why you need to STOP some things in order to make room for something new…

Kristy shares the key lessons she’s gained over the years as an entrepreneur.

PLUS, she shares her personal health story. Finding her health slipping away from her in 2017, Kristy had her implants removed. It’s an incredible story. If you’ve got breast implants and a few inexplicable health problems right now, you’ll definitely want to listen through to the end of this episode.

As it’s the holiday season, we’re keeping this episode short and sweet for you. We know you’re darting to and fro, so I hope this episode inspires you to get your new business idea or shiny new project off the ground in the coming months.

Remember, sometimes all it takes is the courage to keep going and take the very next step. You can do it, I believe in you!

25 Feb 2022220: How to rediscover yourself after grief + trauma - with Michele Neff Hernandez (PART TWO)00:22:36

Earlier this week, we shared part one of this conversation, all about how to rediscover yourself after grief and trauma. And let me just say, this profound conversation has stuck with me ever since. So many things that Michele shared so far have come up in my dreams, in my conversations with others, and in my thoughts this week. I hope the same is true for you.

Now, if you haven’t heard part one, go back and listen to that one first. But if you’re ready to continue on, let’s pick back up here with my conversation with author Michele Neff Hernandez as she simplifies how to rediscover yourself after grief and trauma.

It’s time to simplify…

Here’s how.

My special guest today is Michele Neff Hernandez and she’s simplifying how to rediscover yourself after grief + trauma.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • When a life-altering loss or trauma has happened, so many people just wish things would “go back to normal.” Why this is not a good idea.
  • How to grieve who you used to be before this big change happened without getting stuck holding on to the past.
  • What “integration” is and the role it plays when you’ve experienced loss and are on the path of rediscovering yourself.
  • Why she recommends thinking of yourself as “a goldfish in a fishbowl” as a way to simplify and filter out what doesn’t help on the road to recovery.
  • …and ultimately, what is needed in order to dream a new dream and (as she says) “own your phoenix.”

All this month, we’ve been focused on simplifying different aspects of our body for better understanding on how our body, mind, and spirit are inner-connected. This powerful conversation tackles it from a slightly different angle and I’m so thrilled to share it with you.

Take it slow, take deep breaths along the way, and more importantly, talk to someone about this episode.

Just one person to help you remove some of the burden off your shoulders and slowly move forward on your path. We were never meant to tackle life alone. You’ve got me, heart wide open, running alongside you as well. Just breathe, my friend.

Q: Are you ready to rediscover yourself after grief + trauma? If yes, this one is for you.

Earlier this week, I spoke with Sarah Jackson all about how to simplify your wardrobe & personal style, which reminded me of the power that can be found in a great outfit. 14 Aug 2018026: Breaking Up with Busy - with Yvonne Tally00:53:32

We are continuing on with our focus this month, all about self-care and self-love…and well, today’s topic is a huge, HUGE part of my own journey towards healing.

We’re talking about Busy… with a capital B.

I feel a bit vulnerable (and scared) to say this out loud but one of the biggest stories that I’ve believed in, since I was a very little girl is…

Accomplished = Loved.

And if you just did MORE, you would achieve more. And so when people ask, “how are you?” and you unconsciously say, “oh, I’m sooooooo busy!” - maybe it’s time to pause and reassess if--like I had to--you need to break up with being so busy.

My guest, Yvonne Tally shares her story of being overscheduled, hitting rock bottom, and rebuilding her life to thrive.

In this episode, you will learn:

  • Why is BUSY a badge of honor these days, and how bad is it?
  • What's behind the brain chemistry of WHY we are so addicted to our phones and social media
  • How to diagnose if you're an OSW (aka, an Overscheduled Woman) and if so, which of the 5 types are you
  • What is the 5-step "Super Solutions" process and how to implement it
  • How to shift your mindset in a big, transformative way and stop being so darn BUSY

This one hit me to the core.

It wasn’t an easy conversation but it was a necessary one. I hope that as I share more about my personal story (and especially my fumbles along the way), it’ll spark new ideas of tiny changes you can make in your life, to get back to center.

Let’s #DoTheThing.

09 Aug 2022248: How to make BOLD decisions - with Josefine Wanner (PART ONE)00:28:26

Sometimes life requires you to know how to make BOLD decisions… in fact, that’s where the greatest leaps, the greatest triumphs, the greatest joy can be found. So what stops us from doing it? Let’s explore that.

My special guest today is Josefine Wanner and she’s simplifying how to make BOLD decisions.  She believes that when you get clear on your core values and intentionally create time to rediscover your joy, you become a better decision maker. Someone who sees the opportunity, navigates the risks wisely, and boldly steps out of your comfort zone. In fact, your work and life depend on it.

Here’s how.

My special guest today is Josefine Wanner and she’s simplifying how to make BOLD decisions.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • Why she believes that some people (women in particular) stumble on making bold decisions in their careers and what the first step is to change that immediately
  • How to begin to clarify and identify your core values
  • What role self-confidence plays in being a more bold decision maker and how to build yours up once again
  • How to get buy-in from your family and the key people in your life on the decisions that you are considering making, professionally
  • …and ultimately what the 4 core steps are that you need to implement in order to show up for yourself:
    • Commit to yourself being important
    • Block out the “me time” in your agenda
    • Add recurring “emergency time” blocks in
    • Be kind to yourself

You can do it, I believe in you… it’s time to simplify!

24 May 2022B119: How to deal with disappointment00:20:14

Let’s talk about how to deal with disappointment, so you can bounce back faster. This is a continuation from last week’s episode where I talked about how to hold things loosely. And my goodness, that one hit a chord for many of you listening… thank you so much for reaching out and letting me know!

So yeah, last week, I talked about how to keep your jitters and your emotions in check when you’re in the in-between… you know, that space in time where you’ve made an offer or invitation to another party and you’re waiting for their response back.

For example: you’ve presented a proposal to a prospective client… or you’ve put your best foot forward while interviewing for a dream job… or maybe you’re dating and you’ve just revealed another vulnerable piece of your heart to someone. It’s that split second moment where you’re nervously waiting to see or hear their response.

Either they volley back with a “yes please” or a “thank you, but no thank you”… or worse, you hear NOTHING at all.  Which lets be real… that’s an answer all onto itself, right? But let’s talk about the NO.

Said more succinctly, you wanted something. You don’t get it. There’s a moment of yuck… so, how do you recover?

I’ve got some ideas.

Here are 3 ways to deal with the disappointment you might be feeling and help you to figure out a way to bounce back faster.

You can do this, I believe in you.

08 Nov 2019B087: How to bring the joy back to your work00:10:23

Not feeling the joy in your work these days? Lord knows, it’s time to bring it back. If it feels like you’ve been slogged through a mountain of to-do’s and your weekly tasks are starting to lose their initial lackluster and shine, I hope today’s episode sparks something new for you.

Earlier this week, I spoke with India Jackson all about how to tell your brand story. And one point she raised was that “people can’t see you if you’re not ready to be seen,” meaning you could do all the work in the world to craft the perfect marketing message but if you’re not ready mentally to truly put yourself out there and be visible… it’s all for nothing.

And I think part of that mindset shift is all about shaking things up. Focus on three things to bring the joy back into your work and then, you’ll be ready:

  • plan your week ahead
  • reflect and celebrate
  • bring back that fizzy, electric feeling

Here’s how to bring the joy back to your work

You can do this, I believe in you.

It’s time to SIMPLIFY.

03 Oct 2023323: How to harness your inner power - with Wendy C. Williams (ALL-STAR)00:58:45

Today, we are talking all about how to harness your inner power - what it is, how to tap into it and how it’ll help you gain more confidence no matter what situation you are in. And I mean, really… who doesn’t want more of that, right??!

My all-star special guest today is leadership coach Wendy C. Williams and she’s simplifying how to harness your inner power. She advises businesses all around the world, training leaders to tap into their own source of personal power. Through this practice of understanding that “everything is energy” - her clients have gained confidence, learn how to show up with authenticity and as a result, they build and lead highly productive teams.

Here’s how.

My all-star special guest today is Wendy C. Williams and she’s simplifying how to harness your inner power.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • How she defines what “inner power” is and is NOT - she busts the misconceptions some have about power and goes much deeper than surface level

    • spoiler alert: authentic power is not about dominating others… it’s time to deprogram the patriarchy, friends!

  • What she means by “acquiring energy eyes” in order to read the room and also read yourself, energetically and how you show up in a space

  • One super simple, practical way you can harness your inner power when you are about to do something big and scary in your work, such as a big pitch meeting or having a tough conversation

  • …and ultimately, what the difference is between your ego and your soul and how to communicate between the two for greater alignment and a foundation of inner strength.

This conversation was such a delight! And about halfway into it, she led me through an exercise where I needed to get a bit vulnerable and share a question I’ve had on my heart for a while now to gain deeper clarity in my own work trajectory…

I decided to leave this bit in because well, we’re all human and I hope seeing a little bit behind my “Wizard of Oz” curtain was of value to you, especially if you’re contemplating the same. Friends, we learn together and so, if you’re here now, it means you and I were put together in perfect, Divine timing. So, I hope this episode provides a fresh perspective for you, especially if you’ve been feeling a little stuck lately or have lost your mojo somewhere along the way.

Q: Are you ready to harness your inner power? If yes, this one is for you.

30 Jun 2020124: How to strengthen your relationships through COVID-19 - with Dr. Gary Chapman00:48:53

Q: are you feeling like your relationships need a bit of strengthening right now, especially through COVID-19? For many of us, we’ve been in lockdown with our partners, children, and roommates, spending more time with them than you’ve likely spent in years! Things are getting frayed at the edges, to say the least. Welp, time to bring in the big guns!

My special guest today is author Dr. Gary Chapman and he’s simplifying how to strengthen your relationships through COVID-19.  I phoned up Dr Gary wanting to get his valuable insight on things, especially given his 5 Love Languages wisdom. Lord knows, things have changed significantly since we last spoke and I knew that Dr Gary would have the words to help us calm our hearts and build bridges in our relationships.

Here’s how.

My special guest today is Dr. Gary Chapman and he’s simplifying how to strengthen your relationships through COVID-19.

We tackle all aspects of it, including:

  • How to avoid going stir-crazy during lockdown and how we can give each other a little space and a whole lot of grace
  • How to improve your relationship if the other person doesn’t want to make the effort. There’s still things you can do to take responsibility for your part in the relationship
  • For many, deep rooted issues are getting uncovered right now. He shares simple, practical tips on how couples can tackle issues as a team, rather than resorting to the “blame game”
  • Why he believes we are seeing an increase in domestic violence during this time - how it starts and what can be done to prevent it
  • …and ultimately, how couples can begin to tear down emotional walls and become stronger together

I think of Dr Gary Chapman like Dolly Parton or Betty White… an absolute national treasure who should be wrapped in bubble wrap and protected, at all costs during these times. He’s a delight to chat with and is overflowing with wisdom and love.

My hope is this conversation sparks a new idea in you, too.

11 Jan 2019B044 - How to Create Collaborations (as a Core Value)00:09:48

This month, we are taking the core values of The Simplifiers, breaking one down each week in our Friday bonus episodes. This is so you can understand what we believe in and why... and how you can incorporate the practice of core values in to your own work this year.

The next core value I want to shine a spotlight on is…

Collaboration

We can do great things together… alone serves no one.

Earlier this week, you learned that I was terribly shy as a child, which may totally be a surprise to most of you. Bottomline, it was a fear that I had to overcome, in order to truly thrive in life.

And through that lifelong process of finding my own voice, I discovered my creative strengths, and what I can offer the world through my work. What I’m good at and what makes my heart sing.

The very best part of the work I get to do is when I’m working in collaboration with other brilliant people. There is only so far you can take an idea, all on your own. You need other people to breathe fresh life into it. To add skills or connections that you lack. To build on it, enrich it, and help you soar to new heights.

Plus, it’s a heckuva lot more fun to do things with others than all by yourself.

Listen in for my 3 simple tips to help you create new collaborations in the year ahead: Discover, Ask and Take Flight.

No man or woman is meant to live a solitary life. Neither are you. And while it might be scary to reach out to others or pitch a new idea for collaboration for fear of rejection, I encourage you to give it shot.

If they say NO, it’s not a ‘no’ to your character… it’s simply not the right timing or not a match for them. Move on and keep asking. Keep dreaming up new collaborations that can breathe new life in to your work.

And hey, a ‘no’ over here might result in a ‘heck yeah!’ over there!

The world needs your super powers. We need you to show up, shine bright and serve others. Alone serves no one… including yourself. We are better together because I can help you… and ultimately, you can help me, too.

Together, we are unstoppable.

You can do this, I believe in you.

It’s time to SIMPLIFY.

23 Feb 2021158: How to cultivate joy through resilience - with Dr. Eva Selhub00:58:15

How resilient is your heart right now and do you feel like you’re in a space to cultivate more joy? If you’ve been following the news, you’ll know that the majority of our listeners in Texas are dealing with the aftermath of a massive winter storm right now. One that has left many of our friends in Austin without power, heat, and running water for 4-5 days straight whilst the outside temperatures dipped down to 0F (that’s -18C)… the lowest they’ve been in decades. Yikes!

It was one of those “once-in-a-century” snowstorms that left people shook to the core. And its moments like these that build resilience and character. You find your true friends and strengthen bonds in your local community and your neighborhood.

My special guest today is Dr. Eva Selhub and she’s simplifying how to cultivate joy through resilience. No matter what hard season you’re going through right now… like those in Texas (or hello, pandemic!), she shares the secrets to shift your mindset now, so you can get back to center and back to finding your joy faster.

Here’s how.

My special guest today is Dr. Eva Selhub and she’s simplifying how to cultivate joy through resilience.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • How she defines the concept of ‘resilience,’ especially for entrepreneurs and small business owners
  • Like a high performance athlete who trains their muscles, how to build your resilience through mindset work
  • What the 6 pillars of resiliency are and a deep dive into how to practice ‘emotional equilibrium’
  • How to avoid the ‘victim’s mindset’ when things seem to be spiraling out of control
  • …and ultimately, we talked about stress. It’s inevitable, right? So, how to use stress to our advantage in business and in our lives the next time it happens.

My heart goes out to everyone in Texas that are recovering from it all right now. And if that’s you, I realize that you might want to blip off this episode, thinking…

“I’m nowhere near being in the mindset to think about joy right now… I’m boiling water, I’m still in survival mode!”

And I get that… but my hope is that you stick with us and give today’s conversation a listen. Let it be a balm for your heart as it might spark something new inside you, that’ll help in the healing process. And help you recover emotionally, too.

You can do it, I believe in you!

Q: Are you ready to cultivate more joy in your life? If yes, this one is for you.

29 Aug 2023317: How to level up by doing less - with Kate Northrup (ALL-STAR)00:57:39

What if I told you it was possible to level up by doing less? Would you give it a go? So many of us have been conditioned over the years that MORE is the answer. More hours in front of your computer. More hustle, more grind, more exertion equals more success. So, umm… how’s that working out for you? For me… not so great. So, let’s talk about doing less, instead.

My all-star special guest today is Kate Northrup and she’s simplifying how to level up by doing less. She taps into the wisdom gained by studying regenerative farming and gardening and it turns out, these lessons learned can be applied to your work and life, just the same.

Here’s how.

My all-star special guest today is Kate Northrup and she’s simplifying how to level up by doing less.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • Which areas of your business that you’ll want to examine first, in order do less and simplify

  • What the 4 best practices of ‘regenerative farming’ are and how they can be applied to creating a ‘regenerative’ business, rather than a  just ‘sustainable’ one

    • composting

    • mess less

    • no spray

    • planting cover crops

  • How to create a repeatable, provable marketing system without chasing after the “new, shiny object” or subscribing to the “hustle harder” mentality

  • When you want to simplify to amplify your revenue, how to do it - spoiler alert: it’s all about creating a symbiotic ecosystem of offerings

…and ultimately, we talked about the ways she found healing and growth after experiencing a year like 2020. What big shifts she made that helped her and her husband to level up.

21 Jul 2023310: How to relax your mind - with Peter Russell (PART TWO - ALL-STAR)00:34:56

Earlier this week, we shared part one of this all-star conversation, all about how to relax your mind. Now, I’m not talking about numbing out or escaping from the stress and overwhelm but actually getting to a state of peace about where things are at, personally and professionally for you. Is it possible?

Now, if you haven’t heard part one, go back and listen to that one first. But if you’re ready to continue on, let’s pick back up here with my conversation with Peter Russell as he simplifies how to relax your mind.

It’s time to simplify…Here’s how.

My all-star special guest today is Peter Russell and he’s simplifying how to relax your mind.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • For many “Type A control freaks,” it’s hard to let go… Peter shows us a better way, letting in and letting be

  • In a culture that glorifies BUSY, how to return to a natural (relaxed) mind, yet still get things done

  • What the parable of the rope is and how it applies to our minds

  • If we release our thoughts, feelings, interpretations, beliefs and expectations, what’s left? What you could hold on to that creates a sense of identity and safety

  • …and ultimately, how this practice of relaxing your mind helps to improve your relationships both personally and professionally.

01 Feb 2019B047: How to Fire Someone00:10:53

This is a really tricky subject for most of us, especially if you lead teams or own your own business. Let’s talk about how to fire someone.

Okay, so… before you press pause, say NOPE and move on to another episode, hear me out! This isn’t all doom and gloom and I dare say, these skills might help you in other aspects of leadership, communication and catching the warning signs when things, projects or people are about to go awry.

Earlier this week, we chatted with business coach Kelly Roach and she shared everything she knows about building an unstoppable dream team. And this got me thinking…

Before you make your first hire, you get really, really good at storing EVERYTHING up in your brilliant brain.

The buck stops with you. You handle sales and invoicing, pitching, social media marketing, designing, creating and delivering your products and services to your beloved clients.

It’s all you - all of the time.

And then something happens… you become wildly successful and you’ve got to scale (and FAST) in order to keep up with the sheer amount of work on your plate now.

That’s a good problem to have. But if you’ve got ZERO experience managing people, this can be a tricky transition to navigate.

And let’s face it… your first one or two hires (or fires!) might be where you cut your teeth on things, make a few mistakes and gain some massive lessons learned.

So, here we are… the wheels have come off the bus. Your team member is consistently showing up to work late, missing deadlines, is distracted at meetings, or acting a bit off.

When the time calls for it, you’ll need some guidelines to follow. Listen in for all the details:

5 simple steps on how to fire someone

1) Assess the situation
2) Put your listening ears on
3) Take corrective action
4) Follow-up, fire or refine
5) Set next steps accordingly

Getting fired is no fun for anyone. But there’s a way to do this with professionalism and a certain level of kindness.

You are brave.

You can do this, I believe in you.

29 Nov 2022268: How to have a clutter-free Christmas - with Kathi Lipp (ALL-STAR)00:50:53

Do you want to have a clutter-free Christmas this year? Let’s face it… Christmas and the holiday season is here and there’s no stopping it now. For some, just the thought of all the to-do’s and hanging with the in-laws gives you the hives. For others, the frenzy is exhilarating but by December 27th, you always seem to come down with flu-like symptoms that (totally) flatten you for days. Raise your hand if any of this resonates. But what if this year was simpler? What if this year could be different? And to that, I say YES!

My special guest today is author Kathi Lipp and she’s simplifying how to have a clutter-free Christmas. With a bit of humor and a little sass, she’s written the book on almost every aspect of the holiday season, helping us decide what to keep, what to scrap, and how to not totally lose your mind along the way. Here’s how.

My special guest today is Kathi Lipp and she’s simplifying how to have a clutter-free Christmas.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • How she defines what a “clutter-free” Christmas could look like, not only talking about the physical stuff but your schedule and your mental wellness
  • Why we tend to get caught up in the holiday frenzy in the first place
  • What a “Holiday Mission Statement” is and how to create one with your household
  • How to apply 3 of the 21 projects from her book, ‘The Christmas Project Planner’ in to your life over the coming weeks in simple, practical ways, including:
    • How to create your Christmas prep space with a “Magic Christmas Box”
    • How to schedule your time for the holidays
    • How to refresh yourself and carve out some YOU time

As with most all topics we simplify on the podcast, one core principle certainly rings true here:

It’s not about doing more, but actually doing less.

When we release the white knuckle grip of control and perfectionism on our lives and learn to say “no, thank you” to the obligations, tasks and unnecessary to-do’s, we ultimately will find peace, joy and a heck of lot less anxiety. I encourage you to think about what you might let go of this year as you’re listening to our conversation ahead. Kathi is funny, irreverent, and my kind of girlfriend who’s saying “enough!” to the insanity and helping us all get back to the real reason for the season.

Q: Are you ready to have a clutter-free Christmas? If yes, this one is for you.

20 Dec 2022271: How to say NO to hustle culture - with Jamie Varon (PART ONE - ALL-STAR)00:36:03

It’s time to decide… is it time to (finally) say NO to hustle culture running and slowing ruining your entire life? I know I am… but you might not even be aware of the insidious undertone that is happening around us and inside us on the daily, that is totally driving the bus. It reinforces the lie of “not enough” and “you’re doing it wrong” because like any virus, it needs a host to feed on. And if that’s you I dare say, I’m willing to bet that it’s not only affecting your physical health, but your relationships, your sense of belonging, and your mental well-being. Let’s unpack all of that so we together can make a change.

My special guest today for this all-star episode is author Jamie Varon and she’s simplifying how to say NO to hustle culture. She believes you are totally capable of building a satisfied, contented, and happy life for yourself that gently opts out of the societal “shoulds.” There is an infinite wisdom inside you that knows what will make you your most vibrant self and she just wants to help you unlock your truth.

Here’s how.

My special guest today is author Jamie Varon and she’s simplifying how to say NO to hustle culture.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • How she defines what ‘hustle culture’ is/isn’t and what the consequences and warning signs are that you might be caught up in this trap
  • What it means to be “radically content” - in a real, authentic and lasting way
  • When society tells us we are “not enough” - we remain stuck… how we can squash this old story and begin to unlearn what we’ve been taught us over time
  • Why it’s potentially dangerous to be in the constant pursuit of our “best” lives and ideas on what’s better
  • …and ultimately, she shows us how to reduce the negative self-talk that keeps you dissatisfied and feeling unworthy of happiness and deep contentment.

I believe it’s the 1000 daily choices that make up my lifetime.

When I choose wisely, my little light inside shines brighter and brighter.

And equally, when I get overwhelmed or exhausted, have a slip or hit the big red F-it button in the sky, well… that’s a choice too. Either way, I hope you know that you’re never too far gone. When you are rooted down in the present, surround yourself with healthy people and life-giving communities, all it sometimes takes is the courage to take the very next step.

You can do it, I believe in you… it’s time to simplify!

02 Mar 2021159: How to level up by doing less - with Kate Northrup00:57:43

What if I told you it was possible to level up by doing less? Would you give it a go? So many of us have been conditioned over the years that MORE is the answer. More hours in front of your computer. More hustle, more grind, more exertion equals more success. So, umm… how’s that working out for you? For me… not so great. So, let’s talk about doing less, instead.

My special guest today is Kate Northrup and she’s simplifying how to level up by doing less. She taps into the wisdom gained by studying regenerative farming and gardening and it turns out, these lessons learned can be applied to your work and life, just the same.

Here’s how.

My special guest today is Kate Northrup and she’s simplifying how to level up by doing less.

  • …and ultimately, we talked about the ways she found healing and growth after experiencing a year like 2020. What big shifts she made that helped her and her husband to level up.

I feel it in my core… Now is the time to do less and simplify, especially as we start to re-emerge throughout 2021 in a post-pandemic world. This is not only a year for healing but also a year to reexamine how we structure our lives and how we run our businesses. If 2020 was a year for reflection, then 2021 is a year for rebuilding. So I encourage you to take out your journal and pen, jot down some notes, and spark a conversation with someone after listening to this one.

Not that you need my permission, but I bet you’re totally ready to level up and do less. So, let’s make TODAY the day we do it.

Q: Are you ready to level up by doing less? If yes, this one is for you.

19 Jun 2018018: How to Overcome Your Love/Hate Relationship with Money - with Meriflor Toneatto00:54:02

Can we talk about money? Is that taboo? Does the thought of this topic give you the heebie-jeebies? If so, PERFECT.

Because let’s face it, a few of us have a love/hate relationship with money and wouldn’t it be nice to shake that off?!

My guest today is Meriflor Toneatto and she is the author of the new book: “Money, Manifestation & Miracles.”

Stop. Pause. Just imagine those 3 words together for a second.
Money - Manifestation - Miracles.
Doesn’t that SOUND nice together??

She is going to simplify how to overcome your love/hate relationship with money and get you back to thriving in this area of your life. It’s time to stop yearning and start earning.

IN THIS EPISODE, YOU WILL LEARN:

• Why do women (typically) struggle with money?
• Why is money an “emotional currency” and she shares the 4 driving forces behind it - fear, guilt, anger, shame… that keep us playing small, not charging enough and/or not have a right relationship with money.
• How to simply and practically heal from your money issues… and how to become a Difference Maker in other people’s lives

Her wisdom really taps into a truth that is worth bringing back into the spotlight: We as women are natural community builders. When we lean in to each other, abundance grows. When we share what we learn with each other, the tide rises for all. When we become Difference Makers, we all win.

I hope you find this conversation incredibly inspiring and that it helps you approach money with a different set of lenses.

21 Sep 2021189: How to relax your mind - with Peter Russell (PART ONE)00:35:48

What would it take to relax your mind? Now, I’m not talking about numbing out or escaping from the stress and overwhelm but actually getting to a state of peace about where things are at, personally and professionally for you. Is it possible?

My special guest today is Peter Russell and he’s simplifying how to relax your mind. Spoiler alert: it’s all about letting go of your mindset as holding on creates tension and unmet expectations. Peter shows us that what we get hung up on are generally not the tangible problems we face in the present… but rather, the thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and expectations that we have about them. This is what trips us up, yet they aren’t actual things… they only exist in our mind. So, when we learn to strip them of their power, we relax our minds and gain greater peace of mind, no matter what turbulence might be happening around us.

Here’s how.

My special guest today is Peter Russell and he’s simplifying how to relax your mind.

Yet once again, we’re trying something new this week, splitting up the episode into two parts. So we are releasing the first half now and part two on Friday this week. That way, the content is in a smaller, bite-size portion for you to listen to now, simmer on this entire week and be intentional with integrating what you learn into your everyday life.

We are simplifying our episodes to be shorter in length, easier to listen to, on-the-go.

I know we all are on-the-go these days and our old ways of listening to podcasts (either on our commute or at the gym) have changed since COVID… let us know if you like this new way of listening to The Simplifiers Podcast. Shorter episodes, split into two for simpler learning.

22 Feb 2019B050: How to Hire Your First VA (Virtual Assistant)00:14:08

If you’re drowning in admin work and your to-do list never seems to get done, you’ll want to pull out your pen and paper and take notes.

The topic is about how to hire your first VA (psst, that stands for Virtual Assistant!)

I’m going to simplify it all down for you, demystify what to look for, how to ensure a good fit, and how to know the difference between which tasks to delegate, and which you should hang on to.

There comes a time where your small business hits a turning point… where you MUST grow your team, or else agree to stay small forever.

The GOOD NEWS is that it’s never been easier to build your team without massively growing your payroll. A virtual assistant is NOT a 40-hour a week employee, and that’s a good thing. Here’s why:

  • They get the work done faster. No downtime, no paying someone who’s just scrolling through Instagram while on the clock.
  • They are highly skilled talent who are specialists in 2-3 areas.
  • And since you hire them for a small handful of hours per project or task, you’ve now got access to this talent without blowing the bank. You don’t have to pay for insurance, benefits or vacation pay.

I have to be honest, the first time I hired a Virtual Assistant, it was a wee bit scary.

Bottomline, I have trust issues. “Who can really do it as good as me?”, and “I’m the one who turns the crank on this business, I’ve got to DO IT ALL or something will drop.”

NEWS-FLASH MARY: when you tried to do it all, you DID in fact drop super important balls! How silly was I!!?!

Don’t be like me.

Well, don’t be like OLD me.

Simple guidance on how to hire a VA:
(Listen in to hear all of the details on these 3 VERY important guidelines)

1. Define what you’re delegating

2. Qualities to look for in your VA

3. How to ensure you’ve got a good fit

Bottomline

When you hire a FT employee, you sink tons of cash, training and resources into one person. That’s why so many dread having to hire an employee… it’s a pain to have to find a new person, you waste cash and most importantly, you waste your time. And say it with me… ain’t nobody got time for that!

Schedule a FREE 15-minute call with The Simplifiers. Let’s jump on a discovery call and chat about your upcoming tasks and projects. I’ll give you my advice of how many hours you’ll need, and if we’ve got someone on our team that can help you. If there’s a better resource out there, I promise to point you in that direction. 14 Sep 2021187: How to reduce anxiety naturally - with Dr. Rochelle Calvert (PART ONE)00:31:23

If you suffer from anxiety, did you know there are ways to reduce it naturally, without medications? It’s no surprise many of us struggle with anxiety from time to time… the news is overwhelming, stress is rising, our adrenal glands are shot, and we’ve stopped wondering when it’ll get back to “normal” but rather just hoping that life would just CHILL for a second. Girl, I feel you.

My special guest today is Dr. Rochelle Calvert and she’s simplifying how to reduce anxiety naturally. Through our conversation, you’ll awaken into a new way of being- no longer being held to the reactive and unconscious patterns of past trauma, but rather, learning how to release them by rekindling your relationship with nature once again.

Here’s how.

My special guest today is Dr. Rochelle Calvert and she’s simplifying how to reduce anxiety naturally.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • The pandemic has been a traumatic experience for so many - how she defines ‘trauma’ and why it can cause anxiety as a response in the body
  • How getting out in nature can help us process our trauma and what the research says about mindfulness when we are outdoors
  • What somatic healing is and a few simple ways we can try it today through breath, sensory, body, and element awareness
  • When we integrate these practices, we cultivate a deeper sense of wholeness - Dr Calvert shows us how to do this
  • …and ultimately, we learn that by being present in nature, we reduce our anxiety naturally over time… what some pitfalls are that we might experience along the way and how to cope with them when they arise.

Based on feedback from you in our recent listener survey, we’re trying something new these next couple of weeks. We are splitting up the episode into two parts, releasing the first half now and part two on Friday this week. That way, the content is in a smaller, bite-size portion for you to listen to now, simmer on this entire week and be intentional with integrating what you learn into your everyday life.

25 May 2021171: How to launch a fashion brand + drive sales - with Jacki Bresic00:48:21

Have you always dreamt of launching a fashion brand, but had no clue on how to make that dream a reality? If so, this one's for you!

My special guest today is brand strategist Jacki Bresic and she’s simplifying how to launch a fashion brand and drive sales. No matter if it’s clothing, jewelry, purses or perfume, Jacki shares the basics you need to know for a product-based business so you can get started.

Here’s how.

My special guest today is Jacki Bresic and she’s simplifying how to launch a fashion brand + drive sales.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • What the very first step is for someone who wants to launch a fashion brand. Where to begin:
    • Define how you will determine success
    • Define your core values and mission
  • The breakdown of the basic elements of having a product-based business - design, manufacturing, stock, channels to sell, and more
  • How to determine how much inventory to hold at any given time, using the wisdom of the roulette wheel
  • Which is better - “print-on-demand” vs. “pre-buying inventory” each season. What the pros and cons of each approach are as it relates to fashion
  • …and ultimately, what the first steps are to creating a digital strategy for your fashion brand.

I’ve been a small business owner for nearly 18 years now and I’ve always offered a service-based business… first starting off as an event producer, then moving into online education, and now business coaching and keynote speaking. Product-based businesses were never my jam, but I learned in this conversation how many parallels there are to both types.

It’s simpler than you think.

I teach my clients how to productize their service-based businesses when I coach them through making a simplified business plan. So it was a fruitful conversation to learn how simple it can be to launch a fashion brand and drive sales with a few key elements in place as Jacki shares. If this has been a dream of yours for a long time, I hope this episode sparks greater confidence to help you #dothething!

My special guest today is author Nancy Levin and she’s simplifying how to set healthy boundaries. She is known for helping  overachieving people-pleasers live life on their own terms. Here’s how.

My special guest today is Nancy Levin and she’s simplifying how to set healthy boundaries.

We tackle all aspects of it, including:

  • Why some women struggle to define and uphold their boundaries, personally or professionally
  • How to begin the process of defining your boundaries by writing “boundary script”
  • What to do if you’re attempting to conquer codependent behaviors

06 Nov 2018038: How to Be a Feminist - with Renee Powers00:48:21

Today, Tuesday, November 6th, 2018, the day this episode is released is a very important one in US history. Midterm elections.

No matter where you sit on the political spectrum, the impact of the midterm elections today are incredibly significant. As CNN Politics puts it…

“President Donald Trump isn’t on the ballot, but the results [of today’s election] will be a referendum on the polarizing US leader and his policies… President Trump could have more power or less in Washington by the end of Election Day.”

All 435 seats in the House of Representatives will be voted on, plus 35 seats in the Senate and 36 governors will be decided on November 6th.

Bottomline, the party that ends up in control of Congress can sway how (and what) policies are written and passed in the next two years. And ultimately, this affects women’s rights in the United States.

So, health care, the US economy, immigration, women’s reproductive rights. You name it… it’s all at stake here.

There’s also a historic number of women appearing on the election ballots in congressional and Senate races… 256 women, to be exact.

So please. I’m begging you. Each and every American that listens to our podcast MUST vote today. No matter what. Girl scout promise… you’ll go #DoTheThing, okay?

And if you need more reasons why…

My guest, Renee Powers, is going to simplify how to be a feminist.

While the world feels like a bit of hot mess at times (girl, I feel it too) Renee shares hope and simple, practical tips on how one person (ahem, YOU!) can ripple out and change the world.

In this episode, you will learn:

  • What is “feminism” and why now?
  • In what ways can I make a positive impact on women’s issues (big or small)?
  • How to handle the backlash or “mansplaining”
  • Where do I find other feminists like me in my community?
  • What is Renee’s hope and vision - in her lifetime?
  • What does it mean to be a “feminist life coach?”

Gone are the days of thinking that feminists are some radical group of people on the fringe. To be a feminist in my mind, is to be a humanist. It’s gender non-specific, really. It’s time to speak up, speak out, stand up and be brave.

Take a stand and let your voice be heard today with your vote.

We need you. You need you.

Let’s do this together.

26 Nov 2021208: How to tackle mansplaining in the workplace - with Dr. Kimberly DeSimone (PART TWO)00:28:43

Earlier this week, we shared part one of this conversation, all about how to tackle mansplaining in the workplace. My goodness, what a HOT TOPIC that one was for y’all! There is nothing more cringy than when it happens to someone nearby, huh? And it’s no fun to be on the receiving end of it either. Not an easy topic to simplify but one worth examining as a collective to dismantle it for good.

Now, if you haven’t heard part one, go back and listen to that one first. But if you’re ready to continue on, let’s pick back up here with my conversation with gender equity expert Dr. Kimberly DeSimone as she simplifies how to tackle mansplaining in the workplace.

It’s time to simplify…

Here’s how.

My special guest today is Dr. Kimberly DeSimone and she’s simplifying how to tackle mansplaining in the workplace.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • First things first, she defines the term ‘mansplaining’ and how it’s different from someone being condescending or just interrupting. She tells us a bit of the history behind this phenomenon, culturally, especially in American culture
  • Why some people discount mansplaining when it occurs and what a better response might be
  • What the three things you can do to interrupt this bad behavior either when it happens to you or someone on your team
    • Acknowledgment
    • Amplification
    • Allyship
  • How to respond when mansplaining happens to you from a prospective client vs. your vendors/suppliers vs. your team members/subordinates
  • …and ultimately, she shared some clever strategies to help you be prepared and avoid getting flustered when it happens.

Thanks again for being such a devoted listener to The Simplifiers Podcast. You know me, I don’t shy away from the hard topics to simplify… I find they make for the most challenging and engaging conversations!

16 Aug 2022250: How to adopt a healthy mindset - with Toks Aruoture (PART ONE)00:28:39

Are you ready to learn how to adopt a healthy mindset? Because the truth is, when you get your mind in a healthy place, everything else starts to (like magic) slot into place. Have you noticed this?  Opportunities open up, people pop into your mind and when you reach out to them, collaborations get sparked and life begins to unfold in beautiful ways. Abundance is found where there was once scarcity. So again, the question really is… are you ready?

My special guest today is Toks Aruoture and she’s simplifying how to adopt a healthy mindset. She believes that when you realize and understand that everything that has happened and will happen in your life is 100% directly related to your mind, your whole reality changes. And so she poses a very simple question for you to ponder while listening to our conversation, “what healthy seeds will you plant in your mind today?”

Here’s how.

My special guest today is Toks Aruoture and she’s simplifying how to adopt a healthy mindset.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • Why the “back-to-school” season is a particularly great time to refresh your mindset
  • Her beliefs on why “everything that happens in your life is directly related to your mindset”
  • What roadblocks and hindrances that you might have (consciously or unconsciously) that are keeping you from having a healthy mindset
  • How to “play big” in life and (as she says), unwrap your gifts that’ll help you thrive

…and ultimately, why she believes authenticity is the key ingredient to a healthy mindset and how to be more authentic in your work and life.

You can do it, I believe in you… it’s time to simplify!

13 Apr 2021165: How to cook lighter with an Instant Pot - with Jeffrey Eisner00:44:10

Let’s talk about cooking, more specifically, let’s simplify how to cook lighter with your Instant Pot! It’s happened, I too have jumped on the bandwagon of cooking with an Instant Pot… and can I say, I LOVE IT. It makes batch cooking a cinch and the versatility of what you can make, my goodness, I feel like I’m just scratching the surface!

My special guest today is celebrity cookbook author, Jeffrey Eisner and he’s simplifying how to cook lighter with an Instant Pot. While yes, you could make super gooey, creamy and decadent meals like mac-n-cheese in your Instant Pot, Jeffrey is also going to show us a way to lighten it all up, cooking to your specific eating lifestyle. Whether it’s Keto, Paleo, Gluten-free, or vegetarian and vegan, it’s all about eating wholesome, real food that raises your vibration rather than ones that sink you into a food coma and total brain fog… but here’s the caveat: he promises we won’t lose any of the flavor along the way.

Here’s how.

My special guest today is Jeffrey Eisner and he’s simplifying how to cook lighter with an Instant Pot.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • For those just getting started using their Instant Pot, the 2-3 tips that would help you feel less intimidated, so you can get going with experimenting, playing and cooking food with it this week
  • What “cooking lighter” looks like for him these days and which recipes he’s enjoying making right now, which might give you a few ideas on what to cook tonight
  • Which must-have staples you need stocked in your pantry, specifically for pressure cooking
  • How to cook for kids or picky eaters with an Instant Pot - he shares his best advice for parents without much time to cook, but want happy bellies around the dinner table
  • …and ultimately, he shared a little bit about his own wellness journey - what he wished he knew earlier on when it comes to eating lighter and maintaining his weight.

Like Jeff, I’ve struggled with my weight since I was a little girl. The number on the scale would go UP and it’d go down in waves. 20 lbs here, 30 lbs there… ugh. And like Jeff, recently I’ve started to really pay attention to the food I put into my body. Ask yourself: what is life-giving food for me and my lifestyle? And what isn’t?

I hope that wherever you are in your health and wellness journey, you’ll find this lighthearted interview inspires you to try something new with your Instant Pot cooking this week.

19 Jul 2019B071: How to set better boundaries00:09:43

What if being unproductive is partly caused by us not setting clear boundaries? (Or allowing people to cross them). Let’s get productive and talk about how to set better boundaries in your work and in your life.

Earlier this week, I spoke with Anne Adametz about how to revolutionize your to-do list, and it sparked this new idea for me.

There are times when we are putting out other people’s fires instead of staying laser-focusing on what is truly most important. Sound familiar?

Let’s talk about three ways you can create better boundaries that will help you get back to thriving. It’s all about:

  • Your time
  • Your clients
  • And when you’re on the go

Listen in for a few simple tips on how to set better boundaries.

21 Apr 2020114: How to create deeper connections with people - with Adam Wilder00:41:29

Q: as we start to define our “new normal,” how do we begin to create deeper connections with people in our work and life as we reemerge once again? My guest today believes the answer is simple: empathy.

My special guest today is Adam Wilder of the Togetherness movement and he’s simplifying how to create deeper connections with people through empathy. He reminds us that this work starts from within, creating deeper empathy for ourselves first and then rippling out from there.

Adam is a trailblazer in the world of human connection and I hope you find this conversation inspiring as you start to redefine and reframe how you approach the important relationships in your life, both personally and professionally.

This pandemic is a real opportunity for us to reimagine what life could look like from this point forward. Prior to it, many of us were stuck in a hamster wheel of exhaustion, disconnection, greed, scarcity, busy-ness, and inequity.

But what if life could NOW be focused on something greater, something simpler but more profound? A life and a pace that was rooted deep in togetherness, with gratitude for mother Earth and greater empathy for each other and for ourselves?

What would that feel like?

I believe everything is unfolding in perfect timing… and I have great faith in what we are cultivating together.

My special guest today is Adam Wilder and he’s simplifying how to create deeper connections with people through empathy.

We tackle all aspects of it, including:

  • The fact that we are living in unprecedented times and are learning how to thrive through a pandemic and social isolation - Adam shares his initial thoughts on what the possible fallout effect of this will be in the coming weeks ahead

  • What “sovereignty” is all about and how you can be more sovereign over your own life
  • How to become a better listener so other people really feel heard and foster a deeper connection with you
  • Simple ways you can ripple out the love in your local communities to create more togetherness, globally

01 Nov 2022B126: How to express your gratitude (guided visualization)00:15:39

Time for a guided visualization exercise: I want to simplify how to express your gratitude and give thanks. The autumn season is upon us and as we roll into Thanksgiving and the holidays, it’s a perfect time to step back and recognize all the goodness in your life, currently.

Therefore, I’ve chosen the theme of GRATITUDE + GRACE for the month ahead. That will be our focus for all episodes on the podcast this month. As the outer world is slowly amping up the pace for the holidays, let’s intentionally slow down this month and give thanks to all things that are so good in our work and in our lives. Let’s do the radical thing and consciously choose to do less, express our gratitude in an authentic way and do it all with grace.

So to kick off the month, today is another guided visualization episode, which we’ve decided to release on the first Tuesday of every month this season. How does it work? Simple! Let my voice be a guide for you as you focus inward to help you tap into your inner wisdom and Intuition for answers.

Listen and participate in a guided visualization exercise: how to express your gratitude and give thanks.

You can do this, I believe in you.

26 Mar 2019058: How to master the art of thoughtful gift giving - with John Ruhlin00:52:32

Thoughtful gift giving is a way to both nurture relationships with new prospects, and strengthen existing client relationships. Author John Ruhlin calls it ‘Giftology’ and he’s here to simplify how to get it right as a business owner. You’ll never send someone a shirt with your logo on it, ever again.

Today’s episode builds on two previous conversations we’ve had on the podcast, one on How to Simplify the 5 Love Languages - with Dr. Gary Chapman and the second was with How to Apply the 5 Love Languages in the Workplace with Dr. Paul White.

John Ruhlin, author of Giftology, simplifies how to master the art of thoughtful gift giving

In doing this, you’ll learn how to cut through the noise, increase referrals and strengthen your client relationships that’ll ultimately, help you grow and scale your business.  All of this, simply by developing (what John calls) a ‘Gifting & Relationship Strategy’ plan.

John believes there’s a better, simpler way… and it’s all about having a gifting strategy.

04 Aug 2020129: How to boost your immune system - with Dr. Uma Naidoo00:50:09

Q: are you feeling run-down, exhausted, stressed, and wish you could boost your immune system? I don’t blame ya! Life is wacky right now and you might be feeling the effects of it all, physically and mentally.

My special guest today is Dr. Uma Naidoo and she’s simplifying how to boost your immune system. And surprisingly enough, it’s simpler than you think… Bottomline, when you understand how the foods you eat directly affects your brain, (which then affects every other aspect of your body), it’s a total game changer.

Here’s how.

My special guest today is Dr. Uma Naidoo and she’s simplifying how to boost your immune system.

We tackle all aspects of it, including:

  • Why it’s so important to focus on boosting your immune system, especially now through a pandemic and through big, big change
  • What she believes are the 5 key areas to better brain health, broken down in simple, easy-to-understand terms:
    • neuro-oxidative stress
    • neuro-inflammation
    • neuro-plasticity
    • emotional immunity
    • the gut-brain connection

  • The very best foods to embrace and which ones to avoid to build a stronger immune system
  • How to adopt ACTUAL habit change - what does it take to make healthy changes stick?
  • …and ultimately, what foods you should stock in your pantry to help cut brain fog, fatigue and stress.

I’m willing to bet you’ll learn at least a couple of new, simple things to try out after listening to this one. It’s just simple, small shifts that’ll stack up and help you get back to thriving over time. Enjoy!

18 Jul 2023309: How to relax your mind - with Peter Russell (PART ONE - ALL-STAR)00:33:44

What would it take to relax your mind? Now, I’m not talking about numbing out or escaping from the stress and overwhelm but actually getting to a state of peace about where things are at, personally and professionally for you. Is it possible?

My all-star special guest today is Peter Russell and he’s simplifying how to relax your mind.

Here’s how.

Ok, let’s roll the tape back to September 2021 when this conversation originally aired and simplify how to relax your mind with author Peter Russell.

10 Aug 2021182: How to transform culture + smash the patriarchy - with Dr. Robyn Henderson-Espinoza00:50:42

Friends, we’re going there - let’s talk about how to transform culture and smash the patriarchy. But first, let’s define what the patriarchy is… it’s a social system in which men hold primary power and they predominantly hold roles of political leadership, moral authority, social privilege and control of property. This affects us all… including men, as well. So surely, there is something better.

My special guest today is Dr. Robyn Henderson-Espinoza and they are simplifying how to transform culture and smash the patriarchy. Their work in the world is all about helping folks understand their role in all of this and show us the way to lean into deeper connections, greater understanding, and most importantly, get into relationship with others who are nothing like us.

Here’s how.

My special guest today is Dr. Robyn Henderson-Espinoza and they are simplifying how to transform culture and smash the patriarchy

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • Their take on “cancel culture” - what it is and what it does to shunt productive conversations and true action towards positive change - also, how to create safe spaces for sometimes awkward conversations
  • “Diversity and inclusion” are such buzzwords these days… How can small business owners make positive change in their workplace and company culture that actually will move the needle forward
  • What two questions you need to ask yourself first when considering your own identity and the positive changes you want to see and create in the world next that will transform the culture around you
  • How to get into deeper relationships with people who are different than you and how to move past the fear of getting out of your comfort zone to (actually) do it
  • …and ultimately, learn how the patriarchy is affecting our society in ways that may NOT be seen on the surface… And how to begin to dismantle it, in big or small ways.

If you’ve been listening to The Simplifiers Podcast for awhile now, you know we don’t shy away from hard conversations.

And this is not an easy topic to simplify, but one well worth having.

My hope always is to help us all spark new ideas, new questions to ponder around the work table, and to help create positive change in the world. Thank you for tuning in and being open to consider new viewpoints that might be challenging to your current beliefs. We learn together - we grow together… it’s time to simplify!

03 May 2019B060: 5 lessons from Brené Brown @ Mom 2.0 Summit00:10:18

I've learned a lot from Brené Brown. Today, I'll share the top 5 lessons from Brené's speech at the Mom 2.0 Summit 2019.

What an incredible conference!

If you’re a content creator of any sort (blogging, podcasting, vlogger or otherwise), you’ll definitely want to put this one on your radar for 2020.

I have to admit a little bit of a secret… my inner 8 year old self was a bit scared to be there.

I was invited to speak on a panel, sharing what I know about podcasting. That part wasn’t the scary bit. Instead, it was the fear that “I don’t belong here.”

I wouldn’t call myself a 'Mommy Blogger' - (prior to attending the conference). The phrase alone made me shudder a bit.

I was afraid I wouldn’t fit in; I wasn’t wearing the right clothes, my selfie game was the equal to my 3rd grade school photo, I would stick out like a sore thumb.

The good news - I was flat out WRONG.

And one of my favorite bits of the conference was when Brené Brown was on stage.

Listen in to get all of the details of:

My top 5 lessons learned from Brené at Mom 2.0 Summit

1. You belong
2. Be brave
3. “Everything is a debit or a credit”
4. “Expectations are resentments waiting to happen”
5. The 5-C’s in decision making

You can do this, I believe in you.

29 Dec 2023334: How to be loving - with Danielle LaPorte (PART TWO - ALL-STAR)00:24:25

Earlier this week, we shared part one of this conversation, all about how to be loving. Her latest book takes a deep dive into seven virtues that are at the root of this work: Divine Love, compassion, forgiveness, wisdom, loving kindness, resiliency, and radiance. We touch on quite a bit of this today, too as we unpack what Love really is with a whole new perspective.

Now, if you haven’t heard part one, go back and listen to that one first. But if you’re ready to continue on, let’s pick back up here with my all-star conversation with author Danielle LaPorte as she simplifies how to be loving.

It’s time to simplify… Here’s how.

My all-star special guest today is Danielle LaPorte and she is simplifying how to be loving.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • How she simplified her life over the last few years to clear the way and find her way home to Love

  • What it means (to her) to lead a “heart-centered life and how to have self-compassion

  • Where her belief systems have evolved from writing “The Desire Map” to where she is now, focused on embodiment

  • Why she sees healing as a non-linear process, especially as it relates to forgiveness

  • …and ultimately, how to trust the heart intelligence of Love (rather than fixating on a guru) to make wise decisions, calm your nervous system, and experience greater peace.

As always, ping me over on Instagram @thesimplifiers - and tell me your thoughts:

  • What new ideas did this conversation spark for you?

  • What does Love mean to you?

Q: Are you ready to learn how to be (more) loving? If yes, this one is for you.

20 Aug 2019079: How to be a minimalist through intentional shopping - with Miranda Anderson00:46:30

Have you ever wondered what it’d be like to be a minimalist? To live with less clutter, less stuff, less things holding you down and holding you back? I don’t know about you, but simplifying down sounds pretty good to me. Clearing out, letting go, and decluttering once a quarter - that’s right up my alley. Count me in.

But could you sustain being a minimalist every single day? Especially if you have kids who seem to need a mountain of stuff? Could you go an entire year without buying anything new? My guest and her family went an entire year without buying stuff and the experience transformed her household completely.

Miranda Anderson simplifies how to be a minimalist through intentional shopping

In this episode, you will learn:

  • How Miranda defines ‘practical minimalism’ and how it influences how she runs her business and home
  • Why cultivating gratitude is a critical step in being a minimalist
  • The (surprising) lessons Miranda learned from a year of not shopping
  • How she taught her children (and herself!) the power of patience through this experiment
  • How Miranda determines whether to buy something… or not
  • How to replace ‘retail therapy’ with something healthier, as a self-care practice

Miranda’s memoir, More Than Enough: How One Family Cultivated A More Abundant Life Through A Year Of Practical Minimalism, a fascinating read. After reading it I just knew I had to chat with her on the podcast all about it. She shows us how we can be minimalists, but in a practical and more realistic way.

21 Feb 2020B102: How to be a kind person (more often than not)00:13:54

In a world that feels a bit broken at times and totally in a rush, what is the best way to be a kind person (more often than not)?

Great question. If you’ve ever read the book, “A Course in Miracles” written by Helen Schucman, you know that kindness is key to live a life full of Love and not one dictated by Fear. But well, sometimes it’s easier said than done, right?

Earlier this week, I spoke with Jess Weiner all about how to create social change & a sense of ‘belonging’ in your work and that reminded me of how critically important kindness is in all of this.

Kindness builds bridges and forges stronger relationships built on trust and integrity. How else was Jess able to help shift global brands like Mattel’s Barbie to see that little girls (and their moms) wanted toys that better reflect who they are and what they want to be when they grow up?

Also, kindness requires patience and really good listening skills, as well… asking the open ended questions that get people talking, thinking, and creating a new reality for themselves and the world around us. Social change doesn’t happen overnight.

Trust and safety (to change) is created through a thousand little moments where your kindness helps others see it’s safe to break down their walls, brick by brick… and step into the Light.
Therefore, how do we cultivate more kindness in our lives?

I think it starts inside us, individually. Here are 3 simple things to consider in order to be a kind person (more often than not) in life:
• be the ripple
• don’t take anything personally
• look for the “white trucks”

You can do this, I believe in you.

12 Oct 2018B031 - 5 Ways To Make Friends With Other Parents00:09:45

Today, I want to simplify something that I feel in my own life as a parent… UGH, how to make friends with other parents! You guys, I know, I know… it feels like dating all over again. Some of you guys have messaged me on Instagram recently, asking me to simplify this topic on the podcast. So, here we go...

Keeping the names and identities 100% confidential… you’ve shared that this is “painful, awkward” and one person even said, “Mary, I’m more inclined to have a root canal than have to talk to other parents at the morning school run.”

GIRL, I feel ya.

But how do we make friends with other parents in our community, so that we can build our village and support network? I mean, an article in the the Independent newspaper recently states  “loneliness is on its way to becoming Britain’s most lethal condition”. The Office for National Statistics published that 2.4 million adult British residents (of all ages) suffer from chronic loneliness.

Bottomline… isolation is killing us. And I’m willing to bet, it’s having an affect on you right now. First and foremost, it all starts with you.

Listen in for my 5 simple things you can do today to make a change and to build a parent community.

To gain a friend, you’ve got to be a friend first.

But don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Just take the leap and see who smiles back on the school run today.

You can do this, I believe in you.

10 Aug 2018B022 - Let's Talk: Body Shame, Body Dysmorphia and #selflovespo00:12:08

Today, I want to talk about something that I’ve been exploring myself. Can we talk about our bodies?

If we haven’t met in person yet, here’s the best way I can describe myself.

I’m 5’10” inches.

I am strong, healthy and well... a bit squishy around the midsection.

Tummy rolls, extra skin from birthing two awesome kids. Stretch marks.

Yup, I’ve got all of that.

At the time of this recording, I weigh ~195 lbs. That’s 88 kg or 13.9 stones, if you live in Europe.

My Body Mass Index (aka. my BMI) is hovering around 28 and the scales say I’m “overweight”, teetering towards “obese.”

I eat fairly healthy… fruits, veggies, proteins, legumes, nuts and all of that stuff. I don’t really drink at all. I work out 3-4 times a week, consistently. And I’m learning to slow down, take the time to prep my lunches beforehand, not eat in front of my computer screen, and really slow down to chew and taste my food.

The reason I share all of this is because my body and I haven’t been friends for a very, very long time now.

I think my earliest memory of being aware of my weight was right around age 6, when I was in a ballet recital and everyone else’s tutu on the costume rack was tiny and mine was much, much bigger. Or at least, so I thought.

I’ve always known I was different.

Only recently have I realized that there’s a term for this disorder:

Body Dysmorphia

Body Dysmorphia is basically a mental health condition where you think a part of your body is much bigger or flawed when compared to others.

See, the thing is… I’ve not overcome this yet. I’m a bit of a work-in-progress.

When I hear that this is a “mental health condition” - my brain instantly thinks, “um, this isn’t a mental thing… this is a FACT. Facts are facts, America! Look at my tummy rolls in the mirror. BLEH.”

Body shame is not something you overcome overnight.

This healing work takes time but it also requires me to slow down and make the time to listen to my body, connect with it once again and ask the all-important questions:

Is this serving me still?

And if not, is there a better way?

What would nourish me, right here, right now?

And, finally,

While I haven’t figured it all out yet, I wanted to share a few ideas of what’s helping me these days. So, if you’re struggling with this issue, this episode is for you!

05 Jul 2022B121: How to be a vibrant person (guided visualization)00:24:38

Time for a guided visualization exercise: I want to simplify how to be a vibrant person. You know, the vibrant person that you innately are, deep down inside. All this month, we are focused on the theme of radiance… that glow, that shine, that juicy essence of your soul that naturally oozes forth when you’re in your element. It’s that expansive space of Love when you’re in the flow, connecting with people who light you up, or you’re doing the work that energizes your spirit.

And I believe that it’s your being’s natural state, if you allow it… if you give yourself permission to step up and into the light. That undeniable vibrancy will show up in photos of you when you’re having fun, when you’re doing your best and when you let your true spirit shine through. So yeah, let’s talk about that!

So to kickoff the month, today is another guided visualization episode, which we’ve decided to release on the first Tuesday of every month this season. How does it work? Simple! Let my voice be a guide for you as you focus inward to help you tap into your inner wisdom and Intuition for answers.

Listen and participate in a guided visualization exercise: how to be a vibrant person.

12 Oct 2021193: How to generate sales from social media - with Mike Yan (PART ONE)00:33:40

Are you looking to generate sales from your social media accounts? Let’s face it - things have changed on social media recently, especially through the pandemic. People are using it differently and brands (like yours) also need to approach it differently as well.

My special guest today is the CEO of ManyChat, Mike Yan and he’s simplifying how to generate sales from social media. When we strip back the many layers of why people are so attracted to using social media, especially on their phones, we realize one common truth: we all seek connection. Mike presents a compelling argument for why so many small businesses are using social media (completely) wrong these days. But rather… there's actually a simpler way to deepen client and customer relationships on these platforms without allocating more time, money, or effort.

Here’s how.

My special guest today is Mike Yan and he’s simplifying how to generate sales from social media.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • What’s changed with social media marketing nowadays, due to the pandemic or how people use social media now
  • Why he believes that Instagram is the one to focus on and build right now
  • He defines chat marketing (as in, focusing on DM messaging as a marketing approach)… and how to create a chat marketing strategy that will generate sales
  • How to track the metrics to ensure your efforts are converting social media fans into paying clients
  • …and ultimately, if you’re feeling like, “ugh… not another new thing to learn!” - here’s how to overcome any resistance to learning new technologies.

We are going strong with our new way of podcasting, splitting the weekly episode up into two parts… so we are going to keep it that way for now!

I know we all are on-the-go these days and our old ways of listening to podcasts (either on our commute or at the gym) have changed since the pandemic began… let us know if you like this new way of listening to The Simplifiers Podcast. Shorter episodes, split into two for simpler learning.

Q: Are you ready to generate sales from your social media accounts? If yes, this one is for you.

02 Apr 2019059: How to reclaim your time & energy - with Kate Northrup00:45:54

It’s all about tapping into our inner feminine wisdom. Women run on a 28-day cycle, rather than the male 24-hour cycle. Instead of pushing, hustling, and grinding it out like men do, here’s how to do less, to reclaim your time and energy.

Let me guess… your day ahead is jam-packed with back-to-back meetings. You dart here, there, and everywhere, and you’re nervous about how to get it all done.

(Not to mention, when in the world are you gonna squeeze in lunch, amirite?)

Girl, I feel you.

But what if there was a better way?

My guest today is Kate Northrup, author of Do Less: A Revolutionary Approach to Time Management for Busy Moms.

Kate Northrup simplifies how to reclaim your time and energy, in a brand new way.

In this episode, you will learn:

  • Why we as women (who own their own companies) tend to addict themselves to busyness
  • How you can take back control of your schedule and start to set effective boundaries in your work and home life
  • The four phases of a woman’s menstrual cycle, and what type of work you should focus on each week, to be most effective
  • What the ‘Upward Cycle of Success’ is, and how it all comes down to four phases:
    • Emergence
    • Visibility
    • Culmination
    • The fertile void
      • This might crop up when you’re on the journey towards launching a new project (a book, a product or a big sales push.)

In Kate’s book, there are 14 simple experiments that you can apply immediately in your life. We take a deep dive in to Experiment #4 (Check Your Vitals) and Experiment #7 (Simplify).

Kate shares a couple of simple, practical tips that will help you save time and boost your energy.

So, if you’re ready to get off the “I’m so busy” train, and want to have enough time for the things that matter most in your life, this one is especially for you. I’m here to tell you, it’s possible, and Kate is going to show us how.

It’s time to simplify!

06 Sep 2022B123: How to refresh your outlook on life (guided visualization)00:18:28

Time for a guided visualization exercise: I want to simplify how to refresh your outlook on life. Here in Texas, the air is getting crisp and cool on my morning walks and the leaves are slowly fading from green to a brilliant display of reds, yellows, and browns. Yet once again, everything is changing ever so slowly… Do you feel it, too?

Therefore, I’ve chosen the theme of “Refresh” for the month ahead. That will be our focus for all episodes on the podcast this month. That feels right in my heart, especially as things are changing around us (the weather, the trees, the garden). I feel pulled to also reflect on what’s changing inside of me, as well. It’s a time to open up the windows, let in some fresh air, release whatever isn’t serving you any longer, and refresh your outlook on life. This is also a time for deep reflection into our values, habits, patterns, routines and choices. And then, do something about it.

So to kickoff the month, today is another guided visualization episode, which we’ve decided to release on the first Tuesday of every month this season. How does it work? Simple! Let my voice be a guide for you as you focus inward to help you tap into your inner wisdom and Intuition for answers.

Listen and participate in a guided visualization exercise: how to refresh your outlook on life.

You have the power to change things and that power sits inside of you now.

I hope this visualization sticks with you the entire week through. Do it again and again if you need clarity or fresh ideas to help your spirit feel refreshed once again… because when you tap into your deep inner knowing, you’re accessing the Divine. That electric energy that can be found inside all of us that connects us all together. It knows. You know. We all know if we are brave and we open ourselves to it.

You can do this, I believe in you.

05 Oct 2018B030 - Which Type of Group Mastermind Should You Join?00:08:37

Today, I want to talk about masterminds. Maybe you’ve heard this word thrown around here and there, but secretly, you don’t have a clue about what they’re talking about? Yeah, I know, it all sounds a bit Pinky and the Brain, at first. Or if you live in the UK, then you’re probably thinking about Mastermind, the British game show that’s well known for its super difficult questions, Gestapo-esque set design of intimidation and an uncanny air of seriousness.

In short, it’s none of that. I thought I’d do a quick solo episode all about online group masterminds, in case you’re thinking about joining one in the near future.

Basically, it’s a collective of like-minded professionals led (typically) by a business coach. It’s somewhere you can find a combination of education, brainstorming, peer accountability and support in a group setting.

Participants learn from each other in a safe environment of mutual respect. We celebrate each other’s wins and boost each other up when someone’s faced with a business challenge.

Listen in to learn my Tips to find a mastermind.

My mastermind

I lead a group coaching program called the Super Mentor Academy, which is an 8-week online group mastermind, created specifically to help business owners and solopreneurs learn how to:

  • simplify their workflow,
  • find new clients that they LOVE to work with,
  • overcome the overwhelm, and
  • smash their financial goals.

We will teach them how to simplify and optimize the operations side of their business. So things like cash flow, sales, hiring/firing, time management and more.

It’s like getting an MBA in 8 weeks but a heckuva lot SIMPLER - in short, you’ll learn how to run your business better.

Join a mastermind. And be amazed how far you’ve come in a year from now.

You can do this, I believe in you.

07 Aug 2018025: When Food is Comfort: How to End Emotional Eating - with Julie Simon00:56:22

All too often, we go, go, go in the summer months from vacation to hauling the kids to/from summer camp, to this and that and before you know it, it’s back-to-school tornado time and we forget to take a hot second to nourish ourselves. We run ourselves ragged and tend to everyone else’s needs before our own.

So, this month’s episodes are all meant to be moments just for you, to slow down, pause and ponder one aspect of your life that might need deeper exploration.

For me, one of those areas is all about emotional eating.

My guest, Julie Simon, simplifies how to nurture yourself, rewire your brain and end emotional eating, once and for all.

In this episode, you will learn:

  • What is “Emotional Eating” and why do we (really) do it?
  • How to cultivate the “Inner Nurturer” inside you and why
  • How to re-define “self-regulation” to be a positive thing, a GIFT we give ourselves
  • Seven powerful mindfulness skills that help strengthen your Inner Nurturer and rewire your brain

I’ve shared a little bit of my personal story in past episodes as I’m recovering from body shame and getting comfortable in my own skin. We went there in today’s episode as well.

So if this is a tricky topic for you, please know you are not alone. I hope my open and honest conversation with Julie today helps you begin to heal as well.

22 Nov 2022267: How to sleep better at night - with Shae Leonard (ALL-STAR)00:45:02

Do you wish you could sleep better at night? Insomnia, anyone?! Welp, relief is on the way because we’re talking all about sleep on today’s episode!

My special guest today is health coach Shae Leonard and she’s simplifying how to sleep better at night. Whether it’s stress or something else that’s keeping you up at night, Shae leads us through seven simple steps to course correct that’ll have you sleep like a baby in no time at all.

Here’s how.

My special guest today is Shae Leonard and she’s simplifying how to sleep better at night.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • How she defines “sleep hygiene” and why it’s so important to focus on this right now
  • What the first step is to improve your sleep hygiene to help you sleep better tonight
  • What the 7 fundamentals for great sleep hygiene are and how these simple shifts can make a positive impact in the long run
  • Everything we need to know about “full-spectrum light” - what it is and why we need to avoid it 1-2 hours before bedtime, plus she shares a few healthy alternatives
  • Why we need to avoid amping up our brains at night and those sneaky ways we do it without even knowing it
  • …and ultimately, why it is important to “quiet your digestion” at night - how to do it, starting tonight.

It’s crazy to think that the majority of people are going to be fast asleep at 2am tonight in your neighborhood and city. Like the whole world powers down to rest, all at once. If you’re someone prone to late night brain whirling or you seem to be tossing and turning for no reason at all, I hope today’s conversation really gives you some tools to try out tonight.

And let us know what worked! I’m always keen to hear from listeners on what you’re learning from the podcast, testing out in your own life, and seeing results in simplifying… reach out on Instagram @thesimplifiers, tag us, DM me… I’d love to hear from you!

20 Oct 2020140: How to build resilience in an uncertain world - with Carrie Montgomery00:47:25

How do you build resilience? I mean, would you consider yourself a resilient person? The visual that immediately comes to mind is a boxer who can dip, duck, dive, weave and jive, no matter what punches are thrown her way. She keeps going, never giving up. (Come to think of it, that makes a lot of sense, considering my sympathetic nervous system typically chooses to fight 9 times out of 10 over flight. What about you?)

My special guest today is Carrie Montgomery and she’s simplifying how to build resilience in an uncertain world. She’s a dynamic entrepreneur that’s certainly had to dip, dive and keep going through a series of debilitating chronic illnesses… most recently a viral brain infection. Through a pandemic, no less. You see, resilience is built in the little moments when no one is looking. And she shares what she’s learned along the way to becoming a stronger, more vibrant and whole person.

Here’s how.

My special guest today is Carrie Montgomery and she’s simplifying how to build resilience in an uncertain world.

We tackle all aspects of it, including:

  • What’s changed in her business and in her life since we last spoke in season one - and what happened in late 2019 that made her dramatically shift how she runs her online business
  • How she defines “resilience” and what helped her build her resilience through tough and uncertain times
  • What role ‘discipline’ plays in becoming a more resilient entrepreneur and all-around human
  • Why being “unattached in life” is so important
  • What was learned when she took a step back from social media and actively marketing her business online for 10 months, in order to give herself space to heal
  • …and ultimately, how to begin to “reclaim yourself” after trauma or big change

I hope you find Carrie’s story just as inspiring as I do. I know it helps me to remember that no matter what you’re grappling with in this moment, there are others around the world that stand beside you on that journey. Their courage to tackle their walls gives me strength to take on my own. Brick by brick, day by day… really, choice by choice, we each are learning to reclaim and restyle our lives.

And bottomline, we’re better together. You can do it, I believe in you!

Q: Are you looking to build your resilience as an entrepreneur? If yes, this one is for you.

17 Jan 2020B097: How to define your core values00:07:57

How would you define your core values? What’s that?? You haven’t written these down yet? No biggie, I’ve got you covered.

It’s been a really fun process to take all six core values of The Simplifiers and break them down, one by one, into six episodes on the podcast. I hope this gives you greater insight into what we believe in as a team, as a brand, and how this translates in everything we do to serve our customers, clients, and audience. People just like you!

Just a reminder…

  • your mission statement is your WHY… why do you exist in the marketplace, who do you serve and what problem do you aim to solve.
  • your vision statement is your WHAT’S NEXT… where do you see your brand heading in the next 5 years ahead and the vision of how you’re going to make a positive impact on the world in a bigger way in the years to come.
  • …and your core values are WHAT you believe in… if done right, this drives all decision-making in every aspect of how you run your business. It’s what you stand for and is at the heart of everything.

Here are 3 simple things to consider when you define your own core values:

  • What values are essential to your work and life?

As in, what kind of a team and company do we need to be to serve our clients and deliver our world-class products and services?

  • What values were necessary when you attained your most recent big accomplishment?

Whether it was determination or grace, grit or discipline, think about the last three greatest accomplishments you’ve had as a company and what key traits you and your team needed to possess in order to achieve these milestones.

  • And alternatively, what values were pushed aside in your most recent failure?

You can do this, I believe in you.

15 Jun 2018B014 - How to Love Yourself, Really, Truly, Simply00:06:55

Today, I want to talk about self-love. Do you love yourself? I mean, like really, truly, madly in love with yourself?

Or are you like me and you wake up, pinch at the softness around your midsection and feel a bit…bleh.

What’s that about, you guys??

It’s funny, when I look back at pictures of myself, 5, 10, even 20 years ago, I think, “dang, I looked pretty good!”

But when I look at the reflection in the mirror today, right here, right now, all I can muster up is a big, fat UGH.

Never pleased, never satisfied.
Never feeling like enough.

If you had an illusion in your head that my life was perfect, I’m sorry for popping that bubble. There are definitely areas where I feel like my life is soaring and I’m doing my life’s work.

But in this aspect of my life, the struggle is real.
And I’m still on the path towards healing, right there with ya.

So, how do you love yourself, really, truly, simply?

Here are three things I’m committed to doing this week:

Get moving - When I work out, dance, walk, and sweat it out, I always feel stronger, more aligned and centered, afterwards. It’s as if my body is screaming to me, “hey, let’s get moving! This sitting at a desk thing really isn’t your BEST LIFE. I gotta move and stretch!!”
Get still - And ironically, the same is true when I slow down and just BE. Take a blanket to the park nearby and lay down flat on the ground. Sink my toes into freshly cut grass, smell the warm sunshine replenishing my soul. Take time to pray, meditate and just simply listen. What is your Intuition trying to tell you right now? (PS> put your phone away…not everything needs to documented on social media. This is sacred time.)
Get connected - I’m willing to bet your girlfriends are silently struggling right alongside you, but no one is talking about it. Gather the troops for a cup of tea and be brave. Have an honest conversation about this stuff, what you are really, truly feeling underneath, peel back the curtain and start healing. Remember, the people who know you best admire and respect you on levels beyond your understanding. It’s time for you to see what so many others see in you.

And just one final whisper, just from me to you, dear friend…come in closer.

You are so beautiful. So fierce. So graceful. So gentle and wise. Your body is trying to whisper to you right now what it really, truly needs. Be brave, ask her to speak. Tell her she can trust you to deliver. You don’t need external validation to BELONG in this world, this city, this community.

You are already connected to the Source.
To Love.
To yourself.
It’s time to come back home.

You can do this, I believe in you.
It’s time to SIMPLIFY.

13 Nov 2018039: How to Be a ‘Slow Family Living’ Household - with Bernadette Noll00:55:40

Hey parents, can I ask you a silly question? Is your life zooming by on a wing and a prayer these days? I mean, c’mon… between…

  • shuttling the little ones to football or after-school activities,
  • beating the rush hour traffic without having a panic attack,
  • wrangling the 80 billion things on your to-do list, AND
  • remembering to order groceries so you’re not just ravenously feasting on rice crackers, peanut butter and leftover Halloween candy tonight for dinner…

Can I just say… Girl, I feel ya.

Life these days feels like it’s going lightning fast and there’s no stopping (or even slowing down) the crazy train.

Or is there?

My guest, Bernadette Noll, is going to help us slow down, reconnect, and re-find center

Author Bernadette Noll is the co-founder of Slow Family Living.

In this episode, you will learn:

  • What is ‘Slow Family Living’ and what does it look like, in the everyday messiness and busyness of parenting and life?
  • How ‘Slow Family Living’ can work with little ones and how it evolves as they age
  • How to create a ‘Family Mission Statement’ and why it’s so important
  • How a ‘Creative Family Journal’ can capture your family memories
  • How to be more intentional about the things we bring in to our household - the 3 important questions to ask

As cliche as it sounds, time flies by SO FAST, and our children are only children for a such a short time.

What if you could slow down time a little? Learn how to sit and savor the tiny moments together? What we do now (while they are little) is potentially forging lifelong, loving relationships. Modeling a different way of parenting and living that I’m guessing is WAY different from how you were raised.

Just imagine what life will be like 20 or 30 years from now when our littles are all grown up and not so little anymore. What would it feel like to have rich relationships with these incredible adults. I have a feeling THAT will be one of life’s big rewards.

Let’s do this together.

23 Jun 2020123: How to live a life of substance - with Maaria Mozaffar00:44:27

Q: how do you live a life of substance in an artificial world? For so long, we’ve been a society that ranks celebrities over charities and pretty over profound, especially in women.   This has led us to overworking, a constant dread of “not enough-ness,” and a never-ending yearning to consume. It’s toxic, vapid, and I dare say, it’s starting to break us wide open.

My special guest today is civil rights attorney Maaria Mozaffar and she’s simplifying how to live a life of substance. One that isn’t built on Instagram filters and amassing a storage unit full of useless stuff or a mountain of debt… but instead, a life worth living. One where you feel empowered as a vital part of your local community and you’re creating change (not only for yourself but for others), built on a foundation of deep purpose.

Yes, I want this too. Here’s how.

My special guest today is Maaria Mozaffar and she’s simplifying how to live a life of substance.

We tackle all aspects of it, including:

  • Why it feels like the human race is so polarized and disconnected from one another, now more than ever before and what she believes is a better way
  • Her take on George Floyd’s murder and the US government’s response to it. People are angry and hurting right now, Maaria shares her ideas on how we can collectively become part of the solution and rebuild together
  • Why she started ‘The SkinLess Project,’ a hub that provides women with role models of empowerment globally and how the core tenets of this project can help us all live a life of substance and be “more than pretty”
  • How it’s critically important to break through your echo chamber and start to talk to people who are nothing like yourself to create real change
  • …and finally, she shares the difference between being “nice” and being “polite” - which is better for women, especially now.

I’m inspired by Maaria’s work and I know you will be too. In fact, her new digital series called 'A Way Forward' is definitely one to bookmark as she has one-on-one, impactful conversations with people of all walks of life, helping us navigate difficult conversations. 29 Oct 2019089: How to help your child get better sleep - with Gitte Winter Graugaard00:43:57

Raise your hand if you’ve got a child at home that refuses to sleep? There is a reason terrorists use sleep deprivation as one of their tactics… it messes with your mind, it wears down your body, and you start to unravel slowly.

My special guest today is author Gitte Winter Graugaard and she’s simplifying how to help your child get better sleep. If you’re exhausted from the nightly bedtime struggle or simply just want to make the experience a wee less stressful, Gitte shares her tips that’ll help soothe your child to sleep and create a strong bond between the two of you.

Gitte Winter Graugaard simplifies how to help your child get better sleep.

In this episode, you will learn:

  • Why sleep is so important and what the consequences are of not getting enough quality sleep
  • How the connection we have with our kids affects how we run our businesses, as well
  • If your child isn’t sleeping well at night, where to begin that will help them (and yourself)
  • How the 4 elements (fire, water, earth, air) apply to how we react and respond when we are triggered and this relates to our sleep quality
  • How to create sacred space in our bedtime routines at night that will help our children feel safe, calm and loved
  • What the “love mountain” visualization is and how it can help your child sleep better at night

If you’re at your wits’ end when it comes to helping your child get better sleep, girl, I feel ya. My youngest didn’t sleep all the way through the night until he was a year and a half old! That’s well over 500 days of getting 3 hours of sleep wherever I could!! (Gosh, I sure could’ve used Gitte insight way back when.) I hope today’s episode brings you a new perspective on sleep and helps you both to connect and calm down together tonight at bedtime.

We are simplifying our episodes to be shorter in length, easier to listen to, on-the-go.

Things have changed with the pandemic, including our old ways of listening to podcasts (either on our commute or at the gym)…and we’ve listened. Now you get shorter episodes, split into two for simpler learning.

13 Jul 2018B018 - What No One Tells You About Your Pricing00:08:13

Today, I want to talk to the business owners in the room and chat about your pricing.

Lord knows, no one is talking about this stuff and we need a bit of a keke.

If you’re a creative business, I’m willing to bet you got into this line of work because you’re passionate about the art you make… whether that’s graphic design, planning gorgeous weddings or creating tasty vegan snacks.

And let’s be honest, it’s super hard to put a price on your art. But in order to make a business a business (and not a hobby), you need to have a solid pricing strategy in place... or things will flop.

11 Jan 2022B109: How to visualize a new path for your life00:11:37

Let’s do a guided visualization exercise together: here’s how to visualize a new path for your life. Something that I love doing with my coaching clients is to lead them through guided visualization exercises and the thought occurred to me, “why not do these on the podcast, as well?!” So in today’s mini episode, I’m going to lead you through a guided meditation and visualization that’s going to help you tap into your inner wisdom and Intuition for answers.

Listen and participate in a guided visualization exercise: how to visualize a new path for your life.

One final whisper

This year, I want to encourage you to remember… most answers that you seek are already inside you now. Whether you believe in God or a higher power or something else at play here, just remember this deep inner wisdom can be found inside you now… and any time you feel lost, overwhelmed or stressed.

Just slow down, tune in with your body and your breath, do this visualization exercise whenever you need it, and ask.

Gone are the days of looking outside yourself for a magic pill or a guru on a pedestal to fix us.

This year, consider the simple idea that your Intuition knows. Your body knows. Your brain and your heart know. And it’s all waiting for you to simply ask, trust, and then decide to take daily, imperfect action by making Bold Asks.

To visualize a new path for your life, it’s just a matter of slowing down and listening to what your soul truly wants and where Source truly needs you next.

You can do this, I believe in you.

It’s time to SIMPLIFY.

20 Sep 2019B080: How to overcome your fear of public speaking00:13:16

No shame... most people feel nervous whether they’re faced with the daunting task of speaking up in the boardroom, or getting on-stage in front of 300 people. (There is no difference!)

Public speaking can be especially scary if you’ve been 'volun-TOLD' to do it, a la 'Oh, could you just say a few words?' and you’ve not prepared anything at all. Who enjoys that?? Very few people.

Earlier this week, I spoke with Koya Webb all about how to overcome obstacles in your life, and learn how to face your fears. And one thing I started to realize when we were chatting was how much power we (okay, let’s be real… I) was giving the things I was most afraid of doing in my life.

In my mind, to overcome your fear of public speaking, you need to practice (with a whole lotta repetition) these three core things:

  1. Cultivate your courage
  2. Give yourself grace
  3. Own your voice

Let’s simplify that…

You can do this, I believe in you.

16 Jan 2024B134: What’s next for The Simplifiers Podcast - season 700:10:15

On today’s episode, I wanted to share what’s next for The Simplifiers Podcast and how it will look and feel moving forward. As you know, we’ve been featuring the very best of our all-star episodes recently on the podcast as a way to take a walk down memory lane and showcase some of my favorite conversations. I’ve spoken to quite a few brilliant people including Danielle LaPorte, Naz Beheshti, Dan Millman, Jovanka Ciares, and so many more since 2018… And we are only just getting started!

It’s hard to believe that we are entering into season 7 on the podcast this year!

We’ve released 334 full-length interview episodes and 133 bonus, shorter form episodes so far. So if you’re a new listener, my goodness, you’ve got a treasure trove of a library ready for you to explore

The premise has always been simple.

We take one topic either in work or in life… and simplify it! Breaking it down into easy-to-understand ways, so you not only know the “what” (what is it, why is it important right now) but also the “how” (simple, practical tips on how to test it out in your own work or life.

And we’ve covered a wide range of topics so far… everything from managing your budget to managing panic attacks. Simplifying how to say no to “hustle culture” to how to sleep better at night. And we’ve also covered many topics in business from strategy to leadership development to planning impactful events that drive your greatest goals. There’s so much in our archives to dive into, listen, and learn.

But you might be curious about where we are headed next. Well, here’s what we learned from you, our listeners.

You guys loved the episodes where we focused on one of these four key areas:

  • Time management - How to prioritize and focus on what’s most important and get things done without the overwhelm.

  • Goal setting and vision casting - How to define your goal, create an action plan, and do the thing.

  • Simplified self-care - How to look after yourself when working in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment and avoid burnout.

  • Belonging in the workplace - How to create a thriving employee experience, especially with the rise of AI and automation in the workplace.

And I want to take a deeper dive into that last pillar for the next few months…

23 Jul 2019075: How to do EFT tapping - with Rachel Alexandria00:52:30

Have you heard of Emotional Freedom Technique - EFT? It’s often called 'tapping', and this simple introduction shares what it’s all about, and how to do EFT tapping.

It's easy, doesn't need equipment, and you can use it as an alternative treatment for physical pain, or emotional distress.

As a mixture of Neuro-Linguistic Programming and energy medicine, EFT might be just the thing to help you push past any mindset blocks you’re facing. It's a form of psychological acupressure, which can create a balance in your energy system.

  • How EFT tapping works (Rachel leads us through a quick EFT exercise so you can try it out yourself)

  • How you could use EFT to navigate a big change in your work or life
  • How to incorporate EFT tapping into the wisdom of the Enneagram (this refers to nine different worldviews, or archetypes that resonates with the way people think, feel and act in the world.)

I need to be brave so I can share this conversation with you, as Rachel led me through a pretty vulnerable session. Girl scout honor, promise you won’t tell anyone...

In the EFT tapping session, Rachel helped me to uncover some blocks in my own life, and how to tap my way through them.

I hope this episode peels back another layer for you, to help bring you closer to understanding me. But more importantly, helping you understand yourself on a deeper level.

17 Oct 2023325: How to write your first book - with Elizabeth Kracht (ALL-STAR)00:49:42

Do you want to write your first book this year?  So do I! I’m knee deep in the process already but when I first got started, I know I had swirling thoughts like, “…umm, how do I do that?!”

My all-star special guest today is Elizabeth Kracht and she is simplifying how to write your first book. If you’ve never done it before, it can be a mystifying and harrowing process. Do you self-publish or not? Do you write the whole book or just start with a rough outline? And where in the world do you meet a literary agent?? So many questions… all the questions! Don’t worry, I asked them ALL for you.

My hope is that today’s conversation spins you in the right direction if you’re just getting started on writing your first book.

Here’s how.

My all-star special guest today is Elizabeth Kracht and she’s simplifying how to write your first book.

In this episode, you will learn:

  • What the very first step is that you need to take once you’ve decided to write a book

  • A few questions that’ll help you define the core building blocks of your book and ensure you stay on track throughout the entire writing process. Ask yourself…

    • What do you most want to say with your work and WHY?

    • How do you want to help people with this book?

    • Who is your exact target audience?

  • How to decide which genre is the very best for the message you want to convey and she shared a few different genre options that are best if you’re writing a non-fiction book

  • What elements you’ll need to include in your book proposal, including…

    • the overview

    • the target audience

    • about the author section

    • your marketing plan

    • your list of competitive titles

    • the chapter outline

    • a couple sample chapters

  • All about the bells and whistles… what are a few additional features that you could include in your book that would make it a richer reading experience and more exciting for your reader? Things like…

    • case studies

    • music playlists

    • worksheets & journaling prompts

    • recipes and more

  • How to format your book, especially if you’re publishing in the US

If you’re anything like me, I bet half of your heart is totally excited about the writing process and ready to dive in… and the other half is utterly petrified! It’s the fact that “you don’t know what you don’t know” that makes the entire process exhilarating.

Just remember… anything new is going to be a wee bit scary at first. Riding a bike, going scuba diving, or even when you take the leap to write your first book.

That’s why most people don’t do it. It’s the great unknown and it’s much, much easier to sit back, instead of taking action on this dream. But if you’re tuning in right now and you hear that Divine whisper in your heart telling you to “write that book!” - my hope is that today’s conversation gives you a little more confidence and a whole lot of spark to go out and #dothething!

30 Nov 2021209: How to cultivate healthy relationships - with Brianne Davis (PART ONE)00:28:09

One of the hardest things to grapple with in life is realizing when you are at the root as to why you are NOT cultivating healthy relationships. Have you ever found yourself chasing unavailable people or constantly welcoming toxic patterns in people, over and over and over again? If so, how do you break the cycle?

My special guest today is Brianne Davis and she’s simplifying how to cultivate healthy relationships, both personally and professionally. If you’ve found yourself in relationships that are flat-out exhausting or ones that make you feel ‘less than’ or never enough, this one's for you. Brianne helps light a way out of that destructive behavior by sharing what she’s learned over her lifetime as a sex & love addict.

Here’s how.

My special guest today is author Brianne Davis and she’s simplifying how to cultivate healthy relationships.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • Maybe the best way to tackle this topic is to define what an UNHEALTHY relationship looks and feels like, first. What the warning signs are that you might be in an unhealthy relationship
  • Brianne’s story when she realized she was a sex and love addict - what that term means and at what point she hit rock bottom in her life
  • What the recovery process looks like for sex and love addicts, and which resources have been most valuable for her along the way
  • Why she has ‘10 rules to live by’ that help her create and maintain healthy relationships - we took a deep dive into 2-3 of them
  • …and ultimately, how to create better boundaries for yourself in relationships, both personally and professionally.

As we wrap season four and 2021, I just wanted to say thank you for being such a devoted listener to The Simplifiers Podcast. I love doing this work and based on the 5-star reviews and feedback we’ve received recently, it sounds like we are headed in the right direction with this podcast.

06 Mar 2020B104: How to squash your limiting self-beliefs00:13:35

Do you have any limiting self-beliefs that are holding you back and are ready to squash? I’ve got one that I’m actively working on right now, in my own life: “Run faster, Mary!!” Here’s what this thing actually means to me.

I’m sure you’ve heard me mention this phrase quite a few times on The Simplifiers Podcast or maybe you’ve heard me say it while speaking onstage at an event:

“Run faster, Mary!!”

It’s one of those stories that happened and got rooted way, way, way down inside me when I was a little girl and I’m (slowly) working to release that anchor now.

Whatever anchors you’ve got in your mind right now, good or bad, just take a moment to review them. Ask yourself:

  • is this thought still serving me?
  • is it bringing me closer or further away from what I really, truly want in life?
  • what would life feel like if I let it go?
  • what new affirmation or thought could I replace it with, instead?

Set a 7-minute timer, make a soothing cup of tea and give yourself space to ponder this stuff. Write it out. You might be surprised at what comes up.

01 Mar 2019B051: How to Set a Bedtime Ritual That’ll Help You Chill Out00:11:34

I want to talk about how to set a bedtime ritual that’ll help you chill out. And I couldn’t think of a more perfect person to help us with this topic than my own daughter, the queen of sleep, Miss Zoe. (Say hello, Zoe!)

In the episode earlier this week, I spoke with Carly Pollack, all about how to make sleep part of your ‘non-negotiable’ self-care practice. Which got me thinking about how kids have such great nighttime routines, why don’t us adults have them, too??

In this episode, Zoe teaches us about what’s working for her these days, and answers her Mum’s questions...

1. Zoe, what are some of your favorite night-time rituals as a kid?

2. How do you feel when you’ve gotten a great night’s sleep, the night before?

3. What about when you DON’T get a great night’s sleep?

4. What am I like when I don’t get good sleep, as your parent?

5. How early do you start your bedtime ritual every night?

Remember, the very best you that you give your clients is one that knows when to have work time, exercise time, play time and yes, good quality sleep time. That’s the secret to get back to thriving.

Don’t get stuck in the work zone for too long and risk burning out.

Earlier this week, I spoke with The Productivity Specialist, Amber De La Garza. She and I agreed… there’s no point in doing more if you don’t have focus on where you actually want to head.

If you follow the 3 simple steps above, and check in quarterly on your progress, it will set you up to continue strong.

You’re likely to accomplish more in less time. And that is the true measure of simplifying!

#Dothething.

You can do this, I believe in you.

24 Mar 2020110: How to structure your 5-hour workday - with Trevor Blake00:49:36

What would life look like today if you had a 5-hour workday? Recent current events have really forced us ALL to rethink how much work we can actually accomplish these days, eh? We’ve had to think fast, pivot on a dime, work from home and for some, all of sudden we’re juggling homeschooling as well! YIKES... wouldn’t it be nice to gain back a little bit of control on things again?

My special guest today is Trevor Blake and he’s simplifying how to structure your new 5-hour workday. Funny enough, we recorded this episode just days before things really started escalating FAST with the Coronavirus... but the simple-to-try-out principles apply now, more than ever before.

So, if you’re cramming in homeschooling or other responsibilities on your shoulders these days, you may only have 5 hours that you can devote to your work today. Guys, it’s no longer a pipe-dream to work less... it’s a necessity to keep sane.

So I hope today’s conversation brings you some new ideas on how to structure it all, especially if the idea of working from home and/or doing things virtually via video calls these days is all new territory for you.

My special guest today is Trevor Blake and he’s simplifying how to structure your 5-hour workday.

We tackle all aspects of it, including:

  • ●  What we can learn from Victorian times “village culture”

  • ●  How to shift from corporate 9-to-5 mentality to working from home and being your own boss

  • ●  The very best ways to structure your 5-hour workday and how to create strong boundaries on your work and home office

We are talking all about data analytics today, specifically for recruiters who work in talent acquisition. You see, the word on the streets is that many talent acquisition teams were downsized last year, yet the workload hasn’t reduced. What if how you tap into your data could help you attract top talent and help you fill more roles, faster?

My special guest today is CEO of HireClix, Neil Costa and he’s simplifying how to leverage better data to improve recruitment. In the world of recruitment marketing, it’s all about filling the pipeline with the very best talent and driving better brand awareness to achieve your business goals.

Here’s how.

My special guest today is Neil Costa and he’s simplifying how to leverage better data to improve recruitment.

  • Why we should care about data analytics in recruitment and what happens if we don’t track or leverage our data.

  • What the 3 most important metrics are that you must track in recruitment marketing.

  • There are two key marketing campaigns you could run to keep your pipeline full of the very best talent. He details them and their objectives, strategies and KPIs to measure success.

02 Jul 2019072: How to get unstuck when brainstorming solo - with Carrie Anton00:55:33

Imagine this… you’ve got a super big challenge on your plate that you know you need to brainstorm out. When you're a solopreneur, this is what happens instead of brainstorming:

  • You put on a giant pot of coffee
  • Pull out the post-it notes
  • Clear off your desk
  • Dust it down
  • Put a load of laundry on (for good measure)

In short, you fall down the rabbit hole of 80 billion other tasks you could do instead. Your inner critic shouts, “ACK! How in the world am I going to brainstorm this out all by myself!!?!”

Our guest today has co-written a brilliant book called Me, Myself & Ideas: The Ultimate Guide to Brainstorming Solo. It helps dispel the myth that you need a big team--or a whole slew of office supplies--to make magic happen. Instead, you can brainstorm solo.

17 Nov 2020144: How to live boldly after unwanted change - with Miriam Neff00:46:43

How do you live boldly after unwanted change? Many of us have been contemplating this very question for a while now. When the things you love the most are stripped away from you and you’re left in a pile, attempting to pick up the pieces… what’s the first step?

My special guest today is author Miriam Neff and she’s simplifying how to live boldly after unwanted change. Let’s face it… if you’re listening to this episode, it’s likely that you’re grappling with a big upheaval in your life and trying to sort out what path to take next, right? The outlook might seem a bit murky or the tasks may seem endless, but don’t give up… there’s hope and the way out (or rather, through it) is simpler than you think.

Here’s how.

My special guest today is Miriam Neff and she’s simplifying how to live boldly after unwanted change.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • When big, unwanted change smacks you across the face… what people typically do as their first reaction that is the WRONG thing to do
  • Why it’s so tempting to fill the void after losing something (or someone) important in your life - what to do instead
  • She believes that “forgiveness not just recommended but required” when we experience brokenness in our lives - here’s why
  • How to cultivate more boldness in your work and life after a big, unwanted change
  • Where to begin when creating a new vision for where you’re headed next, especially when it’s so hard to let go of the past
  • …and ultimately, what the first step is when financially recovering from this unwanted change.

This entire year has been a nosedive into studying change for me. As many of you know, I’m writing a book all about change… how to navigate it and simplify it. So when Miriam’s book came across my desk, it took my breath away.

Her wisdom, her grace, her poise through the unexpected passing of her husband Bob… all of it was incredibly inspiring and brought me hope as well. May her spirit and her story ripple out and inspire your life path this week, as well.

Q: Are you ready to live boldly after unwanted change? If yes, this one is for you.

15 Mar 2019B053: How to run your team meetings effectively00:12:41

I want to talk about how to run your team meetings more effectively. No matter if you manage a few interns, a handful of virtual assistants, or you’ve got a gaggle of people who call you ‘Boss,’ today’s episode simplifies it all down for you.

I mean, there’s nothing worse than sitting in another pointless meeting where nothing seems to get accomplished. And what’s worse, is if you’re the one running the meeting, it feels like a waste of time and money (because you’re paying them to be there).

Surely there’s a better way, right? (Spoiler alert: YES. There is.)

My magic formula in how to run effective team meetings: Prep-Set-Praise

Listen in to get all of the details on each of these steps.

That was my secret formula to keeping my in-house team on-track, feeling supported, and getting stuff done.

08 Oct 2021194: How to buy a house in a post pandemic world - with Joe DiSanto (PART TWO)00:29:22

Earlier this week, we shared part one of this conversation, all about how to buy a house in a post pandemic world. And my goodness, soooooo many people have this as a goal in the next 12 months!

Now, if you haven’t heard part one, go back and listen to that one first. But if you’re ready to continue on, let’s pick back up here with my conversation with Joe DiSanto as he simplifies how to buy a house.

Here’s how.

My special guest today is Joe DiSanto and he’s simplifying how to buy a house in a post pandemic world.

We tackle and simplify all aspects of it, including:

  • What the first thing you must do when you start thinking about buying a house
  • Which two steps you need to accomplish, well in advance, before you make an offer on a house
  • As a small business owner or contractor, how to overcome the challenge of not having W2s for proof of salary with your mortgage lender
  • Why it’s so important to “do the math” and plan your finances out long-term, including your retirement plan and how to make a start at it
  • …and ultimately, when fear comes up in the financial planning work of buying a house, how to calmly and systematically squash that fear with knowledge.

Yet once again, we’re trying something new this week, splitting up the episode into two parts. So we are releasing the first half on Tuesday and part two on Friday. That way, the content is in a smaller, bite-size portion for you to listen to now, simmer on this entire week and be intentional with integrating what you learn into your everyday life.

We are simplifying our episodes to be shorter in length, easier to listen to, on-the-go.

I know we all are on-the-go these days and our old ways of listening to podcasts (either on our commute or at the gym) have changed since the pandemic began… let us know if you like this new way of listening to The Simplifiers Podcast. Shorter episodes, split into two for simpler learning.

Q: Are you ready to learn how to buy a house in a post pandemic world? If yes, this one is for you.
