Silicon Valley Insider host Keith Koo and guests Hob Khadka, Founder and CEO of Xceltrip and Kumar Pandey, Founder and CTO of iBriz.ai discuss how Xceptrip is creating a decentralized (i.e. Blockchain) Travel Ecosystem to disrupt the travel industry as we know it. Xceltrip intends to cut out the many intermediaries involved in a travel booking such as air flights and hotel bookings. Xceltrip uses a network of IMPs (Indepedent Marketing Partner) which is analogous to an "uberlized" travel agent with the benefits of not needing to belong to an agency and share the revenue. Better than the Uber business model, the IMP also gets to share in all future revenue with the rental locations they bring into the eco system. Hob also discusses his vision to continue to sign up IMPs as well as move into other travel related use cases. Keith, Hob and Kumar discuss the technology behind blockchain and how the Xceltrip team did not conduct an ICO or pre-sale. The project was entirely self funded. Hob talks about Xceltrip's airdrop* and Kumar explains the mechanics behind an airdrop. Keith explains some best practices to stay as safe as possible after receiving tokens from an air drop. Listen to the podcast to find out the location of their airdrop* For more information: Xceltrip.com

It's getting easier every year to invent a product that can disrupt a longstanding industry, a phenomenon I call "thin tech." And yet, legacy enterprises are finding it harder than ever to innovate. Stop chasing shiny tech objects (e.g. blockchain, AI, etc.) and find your "what"--the product that will help you take control of the future of your industry." On an earlier episode of SVIN "Disrupt or Die" https://omny.fm/shows/the-silicon-valley-insider-show/svi-3-16-18-podcast-disrupt-or-die-with-jedidiah-y Jed discussed how many of the followed innovation books and models don't always work or yield the expected results.

30 Nov 2018 | Eliminating Costs of Risk Assessments with Thomas Nimmo, CEO of Cyberfense | 00:39:11 | |
On this week's Silicon Valley Insider, host Keith Koo speaks with Thomas Nimmo, CEO of Cybefense, a company transforming how technology risk assessments are done and how they are paid for. As regular listeners know, Keith Koo is an expert on Technology Risk and speaks frequently on the need for companies to completely and accurately risk assess their vendors, partners and other third parties. Cyber risk assessments can easily start at $10,000 USD for a customer to evaluate whether a third-party (or vendor) meets minimum risk standards. For many small and medium businesses the cost of risk assessments are cost prohibitive and they simply forgo doing them even when mandated through laws and regulations (banking, financial services, healthcare, automotive, insurance, etc...) These small businesses take a gamble that they won't have a devastating attack on their critical infrastructure and vendors. However, as we often hear in the news data breaches and cyber-attacks are indiscriminate and can affect organizations large and small. Small and medium businesses who lack the resources and investment in systems can be taken down quite easily without the proper controls. Cyberfense's approach is to make the cost of risk assessments free to the end customer by providing incentives for the third-party (or vendor). This approach empowers small and medium businesses (such as insurance brokers) to get the information they need to protect themselves. Listen to the show to hear all the details on how you can get 1) free risk assessments and 2) get your third-party (or vendor) to respond to the risk assessments.
