Scott Ballew is a filmmaker and songwriter from Austin, TX. With over 15 years commercial, documentary, and film expierence, Scott's collaborations with various filmmakers, musicians, adventurers, and entrepreneurs has led to a unique point of view and voice. In addition to branded short films and commercials, Scott has also directed the independent feature documentaryon the iconic artists and musician Terry Allen, and was a producer on the feature documentary "Charged".

His first album "Talking To Mountains" was released in 2021. A quick follow up album called "Leisure Rodeo" was released in the fall of 2022, followed up by a 4 song cover EP entitled "Middle Age Crazy" released in the winter of 2023. A third full length album of 10 original songs called "Rio Bravo" will be avaible soon, which was produced by Michael Nau of Cotton Jones.

Born and raised near the Bay Area alongside his brother, Presley was influenced by a plethora of different moments in culture, music and the arts. From hip-hop to punk and hardcore, it was in the mid to late 90s that Presely began his career in music with early outfits such as Model American and The Nerve Agents. Wanting to shape-shift, in the mid 2000's he put a new band together called Darker My Love and from there White Fence was born. Presely is also an acclaimed visual artist and poet and can be found demonstrating his craft in various exhibits all around the world. Enjoy!

Born and raised in Kansas City, Lowe was first hit by music with an introdiction to The Bad Brains in the mid to late 80s. From there, the young musician played in such groups like Secular Theme, 90 Day Men and later OM before fully immersing himself in the world of sound and music with his outstanding career as a solo musician. Releasing a wide range of albums that transcend countless genres and atmospheres of philosophy, Lowe eventually branched into composing music for films like Candyman, Grasshopper Republic, Netflix's Power and most recently Nadia Latif's new film entitled "The Man In My Basement". Long running pal and musical partner of the great Jack Johnson, Gill has been on the scene with his group ALO and the Jack Johnson band for over two decades now! Having met in college, Gill and Johnson set out together to bring their influences of the island sound to the masses. In this episode of the podcast we explore his upbringing, meeting Jack in the early days, setting out for an incredibly unique music carrer, the philosophy of life, George Harrison and much more!

Born and raised in Pasadena, CA, Hanson grew up with a very influential mother, who is also a songwriter, making this the perfect base for a career in music himself in the years to come. With the growing skateboard scene at the time, Hanson soon found himself gravitating towards the arts and the creative individualism that comes with the territory. He would later go on to form Wand, releasing titles such as the band's 2014 debut "Ganglion Reef", "1000 Days", "Perfume" and "Spiders in the Rain". In 2016 Hanson released his solo debut "The Unborn Capitalist From Limbo" and has since released two more albums with 2023's "Western Cum" putting a particularly interesting light on the musician. Hanson, along with Wand, have a very productive year planned as they gear for a tour with the legendary RHCP, which Hanson says is just insane to fathom. I have no doubt the guys are working on new material and have something up their sleeves. Enjoy!

I've been such a huge fan of Hill's ever since discovering his remarkable debut album "Payador" this summer. Immeditaley I was inspired by his poetry, his vibe and couldn't wait to pick up a guitar again. On this episode we talk about his father, who is a music teacher, and how he influenced Tim's later love and passion for classical music and jazz, playing bass during most of his schooling, writing and recording his gorgeous debut, becoming a helping hand on a local ranch tending to horses, his new EP that will be released in mid October and much more. This week's episode of the podcast is a great pleasure to share. The very talented and incredibly inspiring Rain Phoenix is our guest this week. Born and raised in the countryside of Ohio, Nashville, TN based musician and visual artist Michael Ruth (Rich Ruth) saught creative refuge in a more music driven community with like minded people as his horizons began to expand. Eventually coming into his own as a musician, Ruth connected with locals such as Spencer Cullum Jr. and the folks over at Third Man Records and since been on journey that only just begun. His most recent album entitled "Water Still Flows" is an exploratory narrative driven by poetic textures and atmospheric rythms and in Ruth's own words is his 'greatest effort yet'. Enjoy!

Born and raised in the UK, Nick Saloman saw the rising influence of the psychedelic movement first hand and it forever changed his life. Having first formed a variation of The Bevis Frond back in '68 called "The Bevis Frond Musuem", Saloman was in the middle of one of the most influential times in music and was eager to be a part of it all. Influenced by groups such as The Pretty Things/Twink and The Creation, Saloman would later form his long-lasting legacy of music under the now revised titled, The Bevis Frond in the 1980s. Since then he has released a prolific body of work and more recently a new LP on Fire Records entitled "Focus on Nature" out March 1st.

Producer, engineer, mixer... If your into music, the chances of you having heard a project that Taveniere has been involved with in some way is very likely. Having worked with the likes of Anna St. Louis, the late David Berman, Shannon Lay, Woods, James Toth, Whitney Real Estate and so many other wonderful artists. On this episode we talk about Jarvis' youth growing up, getting into music, playing with the likes of Wooden Wand and Woods, his masterful techniques  beind the scenes and so much more!

Born and raised in Chapel Hill, part of the the sacred triangle of North Carolina, Garrison has been a respected staple in the ever growing and influential scene for over thirty years. Having been the original drummer for Superchunk, also inspiring the name, Garrison participated on the band's grounbreaking first two albums, "Superchunk" and "No Pocky For Kitty" in the early 90's. After departing the group in '92, Garrison joined in on some local outfits such as Pipe, Evil Weiner and Small. All three groups would go on to record a number of albums as well as singles all throughout the 90's. Today Garrison is a family man and still plays drums and tours when he can. This was a great episode about a very special time and place in the punk/indie rock scene of 1980s and 90's North Carolina. Enjoy!

Born and raised in Wales, Moxham grew up with his brother and future YMG bandmate Philip Moxham during the late 50s and into the 60s with influences such as The Kinks and The Beatles. picking up the guitar on a cosmic whim, starting the incredibly infleuntial and acclaimed Young Marble Giants, signing with Rough Trade, the legend and legacy of the band,  his solo career and most recently his new album entitled "fabstract" that was released earlier this week. 

Born and raised in Smyrna, TN, the states largest town as of 2020's census, Spencer grew up with a younger brother and two very supportive parents. A teen in mid 2000's Nashville, Spencer was influenced by the explosive hardcore scene that was sweeping across America at the time. With bands that occupied the local community and headlining festivals such as Van's Warped Tour, it was here that he realized something special was happening all around him. His influences stretched across an ever-changing horizon that consisted of punk, folk, rock n' roll, hip-hop and many others. I first met Dan around 2014, immediatlely hitting it off, he would soon meet all the locals in our area shortly after forming the great Pumpkinseed, an incredible collective consisting of Nashville/Cookeville based muscians/artists. With alot of changes in life and tides beginto change, Spencer has once again found himself in a very unique place as he's recently joined the Post Malone camp. Something he's still trying to fathom, but feeling blessed and thankful for. WIth this being our very first "in person" podcast episode, we couldn't have picked a more special guest to be on the show as well as close out Seaon 5 this month. Dan is true blue, a dear friend, an increasingly creative giant and we're very excited for you to hear this one. Enjoy!

The Ohio-born, North Carolina-based singer-songwriter and poet, Wes Tirey has been releasing music for well over a decade now with such titles like "O, Annihilator", "Black Wind", "No Winners in the Blues" and his most recent effort entitled "Wes Tirey Sings Selected Works of Billy the Kid", that came out on Sun Cru earlier this summer. Based on the 1970 novel by Michael Ondaatje, Tirey successfully manifested the timeless spirit of Billy the Kid, while simultaneously narrating the landscape of an old American legend that is both infamous and melodically told. On this episode of the podcast we expore Tirey's past, present and future in music, iconic influences in the arts, his career in coffee culture, our mutual obsession with Dylan, literature and its romantic impact on society, his writing and recording process and much more. 

Born and raised in Coppenhagen, Ronnenfelt grew up with his classmates and future bandmates of Iceage before setting out on a music journey that has since launched an incredible career dating back to 2008. LA based musician, multi-instrumentalist and producer Chris Cohen has been involved in the forever changing and challenging music scene for nearly three decades now. Having participated in groups such as Deerhoof, The Curtains, Natural Dreamers, Cryptacize, as well as contributions to Cass McCombs and Weyes Blood albums, Coehn released his accalimed debut back in 2012 entitled "Overgrown Path" and has since gained great attention for his incredible process for songwriting and unique abilities to conjure up certain elements that make him the outstanding the musician he is. With much anticipation since the release of his self-titled album in 2019, Cohen has made an epic return with "Paint A Room" and we couldn't be more excited. Enjoy!

Boston legend Rick Maguire has been writing and recording music under PILE for nearly two decades now. With the projects '07 debut entitled "Demonstrated" initiating Maguire's distinctive career, the musician has gone on to to release an outstanding body of work with titles such as "Dripping", "Magic Isn't Real", "A Hairshirt of Purpose", "Green and Gray" and 2024's "Hot Air Balloon - EP". Born and raised in New York, Brokaw caught alot of the of the mighty greats that came through the local scene at the time before deciding to relocate to Ohio for college and a new direction in life. Eventually he worked his way up to Boston, met the Allin brothers and briefly joined their outfit, GG Allin and The Aids Brigade. As the 90s rolled around he would soon meet Stephen Immrwahr and John Engle, joining their group Codeine. As a newly formed trio, the band would go on to record their 1990 masterpiece, "Frigid Stars LP". Shortly after departing from Codeine, Brokaw formed the band Come, releasing a number of great LP's on Matador throughout the remaining 90s. Brokaw still plays with Codeine and Come to this day. LA-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Sam Blasucci was first introduced to music by his father, who was a prominent musician during Blasucci's childhood. Eventually learning to play himself and some influential relocating over the years, he soon connected with local friends and together formed Mapace, while he was still attending high school. With a number of incredible releases from the band that explore various themes on culture, cosmic community, elements of vibration, Blasucci makes an epic return with his highly anticipated follow-up to "Off My Stars" entitled "Real Life Thing", which is set for release in early November.

Born and raised in TX before relocating to NYC in later years, Max grew up with his older brother Andrew with influences from the punk and post punk groups of the 1970's and 80's. Along with two other members, they formed the amazing Parquet Courts and have since made a name for themselves amongst the greats of our generation. Today Max resides in DC and plays in another group called MaxBand and have released two albums and are currently working on a new LP! It was a totAL pleasure speaking to Max as PQ is one of my favorite contemporary groups. Enjoy!

I've been a huge fan of Bachman's work for a number of years now and was completely excited to not only see he was back on the socials sharing his vibes, but that he has a new record coming out in November on Three Lobed Recordings entitled "When The Roses Come Again"! It was wonderful sharing space with Dan where we talked about him growing up in VA with his sister Sara, his love and unique fascination with the local history of his home state and its musical roots, skateboarding and being youthful, his decade long relationship with Corey over at Three Lobed Recordings, his new album and so much more. Pro skater for companies such as Toy Machine and RVCA, husband and father to three boys, Harmony is a special cat in the skateboarding world. Born and raised in California, Harmony relocated on a few different occassions with his family before relocating back to the west coast for good. It was then he met his long-time friend and boss man, the great Ed Templeton. With classic parts in vidoes such as "Good and Evil" and "Suffer the Joy", Harmony made a name for himself in the skate world, but that comes with a price for some. After a serious hip injury, Harmony found himself focusing more on music and art to get him through the healing process and has since released a number of albums. On this episode of the podcast we talk about youth, inspirations in as well as outisde of skateboarding, faith, working for Vans, hope, family and so much more. Enjoy!

A legend and all around wonderful person, Larry Schemel has been on the scene for over 30 years and has no intention of ever stopping. Brother of Patty Schemel, drummer of Hole, the Schemel's became of age during the mid to late 70s and saw the crucial punk/hardcore scene come out of the intensity of the Reagan era chaos of the early/mid 80s. It was completely mind boggling to travel through Schemel's outstanding memory of the late 70s rock god phenomenon, the 1980s righteousness and hardcore energy and into the 90s where he saw bands like Nirvana, Bratmobile and Earth come out from under the mist and into the stratosphere of finance and fantasy. History and cosmic hemisphere. Schemel has survived and thrived and his insight into music, culture, film (specifally horror) are nothing but inspiring and modivating. It was a pure joy speaking to the legend and really getting to know him through this in-depth interview and conversation between two people. Enjoy!

Timothy Williams is a composer that moved to LA in the early 2000s to pursue his craft as well as his love for music. Having worked on projects for Disney, it wasn't until Williams got his big break, along with friend and colleague Tyler Bates, on the film 300. Since then Williams has worked on projects such as "Get Out", Jordan Peele's debut masterpiece, "Deadpool 2", "The Swear Jar" and here mostly recently, the Ti West film "Pearl". It was great speaking with Williams about his love and passion for music, sailing, his family and what it takes to be an artist in this decade. Enjoy!

From Harlem to the holy land of music majesty, Chris Stein is a household name when it comes to being one of the founding members of one of the most infleuntial bands of the last 21st century, Blondie, but did you know he is also a world renowned photographer and writer? Stein captured some of the most iconic figures and their historical situations of the last century, from William S. Burroughs, The NYC punk/new wave scene, his longtime friend and bandmate, Debbie Harry, Andy Warhol, as well as a day in the life of a New Yorker during its monumental era in the 1970s.

With a new memior entitled, "Under A Rock" and new Blondie material on the forseeable horizon, we had the blessing of speaking to Stein about his love for all things music, art, film/photography, comedy, and above all, the creative cultures throughout histroy. His book is both radically revealing, incredibly moving and detailed, as it teleports its readers to an undeniably special and viseral time and place in history for the ones who were there and don't remember all too well, to the ones that were yet to be born. 

The Jackalope Joe, arguably has one of the most extensive and intimate collections of the late - great Dr. Hunter S. Thompson in the world. Starting his collection in the early 2000's, Joe set out on a mission to build the life of someone that lived mad and wrote even madder. A person so special, so ludicrous that he simply could not be contained in just the pages he wrote, but in the objects and relics he collected and aquired throughout his life. it was a pleasure speaking to Joe about HST's legacy, the way he chose to live his singular life and so much more. Some Folks you feel you've always known. I've experienced this dozens of times, especially on the podcast with various guests and Riley is just one of those people. Super down to Earth, a great talent at everything he stes hismind too, buut above all, his own person. I've wanted to do an episode with him on the podcast since I first started as we both share similar interests and passions and figured it would be like meeting an old friend! If you know Riley, you know he's a killer both on the board as well as off the board. This episode focuses on those many talents and passions, but more so we found ourselves explore the age of youth, shedding light on mental health consciousness, the small things and being intentional with your time. Rob (Eclectic Mud) is a homie from the So-Cal area that has a passion for all things rock and roll both from the underground as well the above ground sounds. Born and raised in Connecticut, Rob moved to NYC just after the 9/11 attacks and actually when this conversation took place a few weeks back After many years living in the East Coast and a few journies inbetween, Rob found himself in Southern California in recent years where he is now married and spends his days spinning records and enojoying his wife and child's company. Born and raised in Iowa, Davies would soon begin playing music and finding inspiration as to what kind of art he wanted to create and make a mark with and that would eventually become TFULC282! On this podcast Davies tells us about his growing up in Iowa listening to the powerful groups coming out at the time, touring with Sun City Girls and releasing a record with them, TFULC282, being one of the earliest bands to sign to Matador Records in the 90s, his solo work and much more!

Born and raised in Santa Barbara, CA, McMahon immediately fell in love with music once Elivs. hit the scene and years before The Beatles and the rest of the British Invasion took over the world. Having played in bands during his school days, McMahon, like most men in our country during this time, were afriad of being drafted into the Vietnam war, so McMahon inlisted in the Air Force. Stationed in San Fran, McMahon saw the greats of his generation during their humble beginings and quickly realized somethig deepley spiritual was taken place in America. Having spent 11 months in Asia, it wasn't until his return to the states that he felt lost and isolated from his community. Thus the dawn of his legendary album, "Spirit of the Golden Juice". Recorded live in studio in 1969, McMahon shopped his record all over town for the next couple of years before realizing that a career in music wasn't in the cards. Nearly 50 years, his legacy and audience has only grown and now McMahon is a legend among legends and celebrated all over the world. 

Born and raised in Coldwater, Michigan with his brother David, Fair grew up listening to the rising Michigan scene that included bands such as the MC5, Alice Cooper, and Iggy and the Stooges. Having been influenced by such groups Fair and his brother set out to start their own unique group, Half Japanese, and the rest is history! In this podcast we talk about his youth growing up in Michigan, playing music with his brother, starting Half Japanese, relocating to the country, playing music with people such as Daniel Johnston, Mo Tucker, members of Yo La Tengo, and so many more. Ending this two Part series with the legendary Randy Holden was something cosmic and spectacular. This is the most intimate betrayal of the guitar god's life as we explore beyond the music! Holden eventually stopped playing music all together, if you can imagine, and move to Hawaii where he fell in love with commercial fishing before buying his own boats and becoming his own captain! Holden really held on for dear life as things unfolded for him over the decades with loss, heart ache and existentialism all around him, but he never gave up! Relocating back to California he began to play again and with an old friend from Blue Cheer, the late Paul Whaley that recorded one last album together. Holden's brainchild "Population 2" got it's proper release on Riding Easy Records a few years back and has since then gained a whole new audience and generation for Holden's groundbreaking work!

I'm beyond excited and honored to share this beautiful and intimate ending to the legendary guitarist story. Enjoy!

West Texas born artist Hayden Pedigo wields a broad defining axe in the world of music, art and human expression. Having been home-schooled and raised in a rather religious enviroment in his youth, Pedigo not only had to search high and low for his passions and interests, but bridge a tremendous gap that would eventually connect him to the outside world of music and like minded people. Having gained nation-wide attention through his unique campaign runnning for City Council back in 2018, Pedigo has recently signed with Mexican Summer, giving him the oppurtnity to tour, play live shows for the first time and doing something he thought he never would. Pedigo has one hell of a story and on this episode of the podcast we break through some of those realms. Enojy!

One of the first bands I was turned on to from the ever growing, deep rooted underground sound that is the 1970's. I feel like I should mention that I find myself not so much motivated to listen to a live record. But this... This is pure insanity! Having never played live before and with only a short time to practice and rehearse, this band truly made magic that evening in Hawaii and Dale is here to tell the story and set the record straight! It was a pleasure not only meeting Dale, but to hear his amazing story and career in music. Paul Anthony Gurvitz 6th july 1944 High Wycombe Buckinghamshire England is a multi platinum song writer
who's musical journey started at the age of 15 . He bought his first guitar in a local store for 12 pounds and signed his first publishing contract at the age of 16 and has since written countless hits for many artist's including his first hit Race With The Devil with his band "GUN' which some say was the beginning of what they call metal music today.

In 1964 he embarked on his touring and performing career as a guitarist with his bands The Londoners , The Knack , Parrish & Gurvitz which was produced by the infamous Sir George Martin and then switched to bass with Gun , Three Man Army , The Graeme Edge Band and The Baker Gurvitz Army which featured Cream drummer Ginger Baker. Now living in Arizona Paul is still an active song writer and has released several solo albums and is now embarking on another journey with his new band The New Army..

It all started back in the early sixties. I was listening to Elvis, Buddy Holly, Cliff Richard & The Shadows and at the age of 15 I bought my first guitar. My father at that time was the Road Manager for the Shadows, so I started to get a taste of the music scene. I taught myself to play a few chords and it wasn't long before I was playing in some local bands. My first professional gig was in France playing on US Army camps. From there I came to to England with the same band and started to play gigs around London, that group was called The Londoners.

We were then booked to play the Star Club in Hamburg, Germany. After spending six months in the Star Club we began playing all over Germany at different venues.

Once again I returned to London with The Londoners and decided to change the name of the group to The Knack. The Knack was signed to several different labels and recorded several singles for Pye and Decca. A short while after, the psychedelic era started and once again I changed the name of the band to The Gun. The Gun started to slowly get noticed around the London clubs and by 1968 had their first hit record, that was "Race With The Devil". It went to number 4 in the English charts and number 1 in most European charts. The Gun recorded 2 albums "Gun" and Gunsight". In 1971 The Gun broke up and I started a group called Parrish & Gurvitz, which was produced by George Martin. There were two albums recorded but only one was released called "Parrish & Gurvitz". That band toured the US and the UK. At the same time I was recording with my brother Adrian with "Three Man Army". After Parrish & Gurvitz broke up Three Man Army became a touring band and recorded three albums in all, "A Third Of A Lifetime", "Mahesha" and "Three Man Army Two .

Three Man Army was getting ready for a fourth album but the drummer (Tony Newman) was asked to join David Bowie. That left my brother and I with no drummer, but not long after we teamed up with Ginger Baker and started a new group. This was "The Baker Gurvitz Army". B.G.A. (as it was called) recorded the first album titled "Baker Gurvitz Army" and then took on two more members for touring. The second B.G.A. album recorded was "Elysian Encounter" and the third was "Hearts On Fire". During the recordings of B.G.A., my brother and I teamed up with the drummer of the "Moody Blues" Graeme Edge, and recorded two more albums. The band was called "The Graeme Edge Band". The first album was "Kick Off Your Muddy Boots" and the second was "Paradise Ballroom".

In 1976 the manager of B.G.A. was killed in a plane crash and that was the end of "The Baker Gurvitz Army".
