Ahead of the 'Best Weekend of the Season'™️ (Scottish Cup 4th Round!), we chat to Drumchapel United's co-manager Adam Hopes, as his side prepare to take on Elgin City in the biggest game in the club's history.

Everything looked amazing in the stands at Hampden last weekend with some incredible pyro displays, but the pitch sadly couldn't match the high standards. We ask if it's time to look to alternatives to the national stadium for cup semi-finals.

And with yet ANOTHER weekend with "controversial" VAR decisions, we attempt to understand where the confusion for officials, managers and players lies, and ask if there is a need for the current rules to be addressed.

24 Jan 2023The Biggest Shock in Scottish Football History00:48:16

West Ham’s senior producer Laura Brannan is joined on the show by Sky Sports duo Andrew Dickson and Anthony Joseph in the closing stages of the winter transfer window.

But before that, they focus on the only story in town…

Darvel rocked the Scottish Cup history books, sinking struggling Aberdeen in the fourth round of the competition, making them the biggest giant killers of all time.

Does this spell the end for Jim Goodwin? The Dons boss has been under pressure for a while now following a spell of bad results, time will tell if he will be the first Premiership managerial casualty of 2023.

Josip Juranovic has departed Celtic following his third-place finish with Croatia in the World Cup, but they’re closing in on the signing of Hyeon-Gyu Oh.

Across the city, Rangers have also been active in the transfer market, welcoming Todd Cantwell on a long-term deal.

And what about the life of an agent at this time of year? Quorum Sports’ football agent Adrian Brennan lifts the lid on a lesser-spoken-about but hugely important role in the industry.

18 Apr 2023Who Wants To Be A Football Manager?00:49:28

As yet another top flight manager loses his job, the team ask if the panic button is being pushed too hastily these days.

BT Sport’s Andrew Slaven is joined by West Ham video producer Laura Brannan and football editor Findlay Marks for yet another week of the biggest, the best and the downright ugliest stories across Scottish football.

Eight Premiership managers have been sacked so far this season, with Callum Davidson the latest to depart St Johnstone. But is it justified?

Meanwhile, Dunfermline manager James McPake joins the team to reflect on not only winning the League One title but also how he’s grown as a manager a year on from being hastily let go himself, from Dundee.

Who actually wants to host Euro 2028? The SFA unfortunately. They seem happy with Hampden being the only Scottish stadium as the UK and Ireland "dangerously join forces" with a bid to host the tournament.

And is it socially acceptable to listen to the football on the radio when you’re at a wedding? We're asking all the important questions this week.

RUNNING ORDER
00:42 - PART 1 - News & Funnies: Jurgen Klinsmann in Kilmarnock, hating on the Team GB Euro 2028 bid, and listening to 'Open All Mics' at a wedding.
15:58 - PART 2 - Sacking Managers: As Callum Davidson became the eighth manager to lose his job in the top flight this season, we ponder if managers are getting enough time in the job these days.
26:52 - PART 3 - SPFL Round-up: Dundee United are coming in to form at just the right time, Stirling Albion are tantalisingly close to League Two glory, and does anyone actually want to win the Championship?
33:38 - PART 4 - James McPake: In a hugely candid interview, Dunfermline boss James McPake chats to us about his side's title win, the ignominy of getting the sack, and why he's loving life in Fife.

How it feels to be sacked as a manager

Listen to the full, unedited chat with title-winning Dunfermline manager James McPake.

Just days after clinching the League One championship, the 38 year old joined the team to reflect on the club’s achievement and how he has grown personally, as a manager.

At a time when the role is proving to be so precarious amid poor runs of form, McPake describes the emotional and mental toll that comes with being sacked and how he’s used that to his advantage.

Give him a listen and let the team know if you agree Dundee’s loss is Dunfermline’s gain at @TSFSpodcast on Twitter.

25 Apr 2023Thou Shalt Not Pitch Invade00:42:31

BT Sport’s Andrew Slaven, West Ham’s Laura Brannan and football filmmaker Findlay Marks are back again for the latest helping of Scottish football’s news and funny stories.

You might have noticed you could watch the FA Cup semi finals on TV at the weekend, but not any of our own exciting fixtures that were playing at the same time. We look at why the English FA broke their own blackout rules and how it’s impacting the Scottish game.

Meanwhile, the Premiership split saw St Mirren and Hibs bag the spots in the top six, while Livingston missed out again. But could more be done to market this stage of the season?

Stirling Albion finally made it over the line and clinched the League Two Championship, hear from manager Darren Young on the achievement.

14 May 202315 Years On: Rangers’ Road To Manchester01:12:25

In the second of three stand-alone shows this month we’re celebrating the incredible achievements of Scottish sides reaching major European finals as they mark landmark anniversaries this year.

There was success for Celtic as well at the weekend, as they enjoyed breaking a world record, clinching their eighth treble. But the real story is the future of their beloved manager Ange Postecoglou as he looked destined to be appointed the new Tottenham Hotspur manager.

And it’s a victory for the fans, and just about every club in Scotland, as the SFA shelf plans for their controversial Conference League. The motion to create a new fifth tier and allowing four B teams to compete has been met with a resounding no from almost everyone involved.

20 Sep 2023Calling at Depression Parkway & Misery Central00:48:43

The European group stages get underway this week but some of the team are giving off negative vibes… or are they just being realistic?

Join Andrew Slaven, Findlay Marks and Laura Brannan for the latest round up of the weird and wonderful stories across Scottish football.

We have a very special guest this week as St Mirren boss Stephen Robinson joins us with his side sitting pretty in second place in the Premiership.

At the other end of the managerial success scale though, Billy Dodds and his assistant Barry Wilson have departed Inverness Caledonian Thistle after a poor start to the season.

Could Scotland be given automatic qualification to Euro 2028 if they fail the traditional way? Perhaps, if the UK & Ireland win their bid to host the tournament, it looks like there will be a safety net for some of the home nations.

And what’s Gary Caldwell’s latest training regime? Gone are the days of army kidnapping, he’s now moved on to TikTok trends.

26 Sep 2023Stuart Kettlewell's Force Ghost00:50:35

A week of firsts in the SPFL; a first win of the Premiership season for Aberdeen, a maiden home victory for Nick Montgomery in his second game charge of Hibs, and record-breaking first appearances for a couple of young Hibs & St Johnstone players.

It's not all plain sailing however in the top flight. Three wins in a week for Rangers but many fans are irked by what they're seeing at Ibrox under Michael Beale, including the manager himself.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle have announced Duncan Ferguson as their new manager. Caley  fan Andrew Young from The Wyness Shuffle Podcast joins us to reflect on what's been going on at the Highland club.

And is it ok for a child to run onto the pitch to meet their heroes, or are we glorifying this behaviour too much?

03 Oct 2023Bye Bye Bealeball01:03:00

There were a few ‘mares over the weekend.

Aberdeen’s 3-1 win at Ibrox proved to be the final nail in the coffin for Michael Beale who will now be replaced by Steven Davis in the dugout.

The host broadcaster chose not to televise any game… which is a shame considering there were a couple of classics in there.

And the SPFL’s League Cup semi final ticket allocation is controversially denying Hearts a 50/50 split of Hampden.

But in more positive news, we’re joined by commentary royalty as Derek Rae and Rory Hamilton tell us about how they got into the industry, some of their most iconic moments and what actually goes into their pre match preparation.

Andrew Slaven, Laura Brannan and Findlay Marks are back with the 10th episode of the season, giving you the lowdown on all the Scottish football stories.

It’s one year since VAR was introduced to Scottish football, have you enjoyed the journey so far?

Join Andrew Slaven, Findlay Marks and Laura Brannan as they catch up with former referee Des Roache from Get Involved Referee! Podcast again to assess how smooth he thinks the process has been.

There’s trouble in Paradise as tensions rise between Celtic and their supporters. They’ve locked out the Green Brigade from away games indefinitely.

And we look back on Scotland’s defeat to France, and the images that came out of the players celebrating qualification to Euro 2024 in Blue Lagoon… which led to the revelation Laura does not like chips.

31 Oct 2023Red Bull Killie00:59:28

There could be a dramatic change ahead for Scottish football. The rules around dual ownership of clubs could be relaxed, which might see some sides snapped up by the likes of Red Bull and City Group in the future.

Laura Brannan, Findlay Marks and Andrew Dickson look at whether this injection of cash would benefit our game or if it’s too raw and honest for the plastic route.

We also ask why Celtic, Rangers and Motherwell are getting annoyed at the festive fixtures, and how Christmas impacts the playing squad.

07 Nov 2023A New Pencil To Paint With00:47:33

After the incredible display by Rangers away in Dundee, pyro has been a hotly debated topic again across our game.

While most of the coverage has been incendiary (no pun intended), we wanted to try to move the conversation forward and look at whether safe pyro can ever be introduced in Scotland, so Andrew Slaven and Laura Brannan caught up with Tommy Cordsen, a Danish expert on pyrotechnics who invented Tifontaine; a form of cold pyro.

Andrew Slaven, Findlay Marks and Andy Bargh discuss all the latest happenings on the park as well, as Aberdeen and Rangers booked their places in the first Cup Final of the season.

Celtic, meanwhile, extended their lead at the top of the table in the Premiership. The Parkhead club's decision to extend their ban of the Green Brigade to home matches as well has gathered much attention off the park, but are they justified in their actions?

How long will it be long before we see him return to the game, if at all?

19 Dec 2023Derek Adams' Naughty List00:51:16

The festive spirit is strong as we approach Christmas, but not in Scottish football.

Derek Adams has put every single one of his players on the naughty list after their stoppage time defeat to Dundee.

And his post match comments weren’t the only ones raising eyebrows this week. A lump of coal is firmly on it’s way to Barry Robson as well after some wild post cup final remarks.

And what about Santa himself? He was booed off the pitch at Celtic Park and ripped his hair off in front of the shocked children.

Ahh, Scottish football.

There was also a cup final this weekend, with Rangers securing the first silverware of the season.

And as we approach the 16 year anniversary of Phil O’Donnell’s death, and just days after Luton Town defender Tom Lockyer suffered a heart attack on the pitch, we speak to Hearts’ club doctor, Dr Michael Campbell about what clubs are doing to to spot and prevent these issues.

RUNNING ORDER:
0:22: Introducing Andrew Slaven, Laura Brannan and Findlay Marks

4:37: The best funny stories this week including Santa being booed off the pitch and Willie Callum refereeing in one shoe.

9:21: The biggest news stories this week including Motherwell’s Chairman and CEO stepping down and B teams are here to stay.

16:27: What procedures are in place to help detect heart conditions in players?

28:40: James Tavernier strikes again to win Rangers the League Cup.

39:19: A round up of what happened in the SPFL at the weekend, including Dundee’s last minute winner and Raith Rovers moving five points clear.

14 Feb 2024What Are SPFL Bosses Hiding?00:49:56

Criticism of the SPFL has swung around and hit the headlines again after half of the Scottish Premiership clubs expressed their collective concern on how the game is being governed.

The independent review is analysed by Andrew Slaven, Laura Brannan and Findlay Marks, along with (arguably more importantly), their own independent review of pancakes, penny sweets and cajun crepes.

Dundee's medical staff defied the referee when Michael Mellon suffered a head knock, running onto the pitch during play. Are officials not taking potential concussion injuries seriously?

And would you still go to the football if you were blind? The team speak to Jon Attenborough, who explains what clubs can do to help their partially sighted supporters.

Meanwhile, the Scottish Cup quarter final and Nations League draws have thrown up some tasty fixtures. Scotland, in League A, will face Portugal, Poland and Croatia.

Raith Rovers are keeping the title challenge alive in the Championship, there was a goalie goal in League One and is there any stopping the truly exceptional Lawrence Shankland?

Celtic fans were locked out of Ibrox again at the weekend, this time for a women's game. But is women's football right to deter fans from going?

27 Feb 2024Stenny Artois and Buddiesweiser00:57:04

What would you call your club's own beer? St Mirren have brought out The Saints Are Coming but we thought we'd get creative.

Andrew Slaven is joined by TNT Sport’s Laura Brannan and Melbourne City’s Findlay Marks as they review the weekend’s biggest stories across the SPFL.

Raith Rovers are continuing to defy the odds, pushing favourites Dundee United all the way in the Championship, so we sat down with the Chief Executive, Andrew Barrowman, to find out what's been going on behind the scenes at Starks Park.

There's a big vote at Fir Park this week as members of the Well Society are asked if they'd consider giving up their majority shareholding and ultimately end Motherwell's time as a fan owned club.

And there were two huge results at the weekend, with Rangers steamrolling Hearts, one of the most in-form teams in Europe, aside. And bottom of League Two Clyde running riot over league leaders Stenhousemuir.

Also, join the team as they play through the rather brilliant Derek Adams management simulation game to see if they could have done at better job in charge of Raith Rovers.

Why was FIFA President Gianni Infantino at St Mirren Park, and did he witness the latest comeback in Premiership history?

The Scottish Cup is back this weekend, with some mouth-watering quarter-final ties.

Kilmarnock are looking to net their fourth straight win over Aberdeen and book their place at Hampden.

19 Mar 2024Kate Middleton or Aberdeen’s New Boss, Who Will We See First?00:53:06

The nation is waiting with bated breathe, the conspiracies are hot on social media and the press are going strangely quiet. But enough about Aberdeen still not appointing a new manager, where is Kate Middleton?

Laura Brannan is joined by Findlay Marks and John Blaesdale to asses the latest in the Pittodrie saga and look ahead to the international break.

Scotland are away to Netherlands and home to Northern Ireland, but how will Steve Clarke shape up without Callum McGregor?

There was 18 minutes of madness at the weekend as Kilmarnock came from 2-0 down to win 5-2 in the race for Europe.

27 Mar 2024We’re Going To Need A Bigger Badge00:56:33

It’s that time of year when it’s all about the silverware, but we still can’t get away from some classic shithousery at the same time.

Airdrie lifted the Challenge Cup, denying the embarrassing prospect of a Welsh team winning a Scottish competition. And both Falkirk and Stenhousemuir could wrap up the League One and Two titles respectively this coming weekend.

Clyde 1 producer and Bairns fan from the Falkirk Daft podcast, John McInally joins us to chat about the possibility of finishing the season as Invincibles.

It was also another big international week as Scotland played two of their four warm up friendlies for Euro 2024 this summer, but let's face it, after an hour in the Netherlands things just went from bad to worse over the next 120 minutes.

And what about Rangers redecorating the Hearts dressing room without permission? We question whether the badge gate outrage was justified.

As ever, Andrew Slaven is joined by Findlay Marks and Laura Brannan to dissect the latest news and ridiculous stories to come out of Scottish football.

08 Apr 2024No Drug Can Compete With This00:45:18

Drama at the top, drama in the middle and another league title is wrapped up, what a weekend in Scottish football.

15 Apr 2024See You Jimmy00:41:16

Rangers title tilt was trashed by Ross County who, themselves, ended their hoodoo with their first every victory over the Gers. How much does that affect the top and bottom of the Premiership tables?

Motherwell’s equaliser against Hibernian meant that neither club made the top six - the result instead confirming Dundee position in the top half of the table for the final matches of the season.

And could Aberdeen be about to announce Elfsborg Manager, Jimmy Thelin as their new boss?

23 Apr 2024‘Stotland’ Players Are Falling Apart00:59:05

We may not get an Old Firm title decider in the league but Celtic and Rangers will go head to head in the Scottish Cup final for the first time in 22 years.

Laura Brannan and John Blaesdale join host Andrew Slaven for a look back on an incredible semi final between Aberdeen and Celtic and a not-so-dramatic clash between Rangers and Hearts.

The Scotland players are being hit by injuries just a month before the Euros squad is announced, we just can't bear to watch the end of the season anymore.

And Dundee United have all but wrapped up the Championship title. But as well as that, we look back to 40 years ago when they almost won the European Cup.

Maurice Malpas joins us to reflect on a wonderful era at Tannadice and a not-so-wonderful semi final tie with Roma that ended in controversy.

27 Apr 202440 Years On With Maurice Malpas: When Roma Cheated Dundee Utd Out Of European Glory00:30:01

It's all about league title success for Dundee United right now but this time 40 years ago the focus was all on European football.

The Tannadice side could have got to the final of the European Cup if it wasn't for a hugely controversial referee bribery taking place in their semi final second leg away to Roma.

In the story that could have been, United legend Maurice Malpas joins us for a look back on an incredible era in the club's history.

29 Apr 2024An Appointment With A Fish Supper00:46:41

The integrity of the pyramid play-off system is on the rocks as Buckie Thistle gear up for war with the SPFL and SFA.

The Highland League winners have been denied a play-off spot as they don't have the bronze licence needed to enter the league system, but that's absolutely not the end of the matter.

Former Press & Journal writer Dave Edwards joins Andrew Slaven, Laura Brannan and Anthony Joseph to break down the messy situation.

Meanwhile, Scotland's injury worries get worse with Scott McTominay and Kieran Tierney the latest on the treatment table.

And it's all heating up in League Two, will Stranraer survive or is Clyde going to complete a huge comeback?

Dundee United were also crowned champions at the weekend, but the Raith Rovers twitter account didn't enjoy Airdrie's guard of honour BEFORE it was official.

Sacking Season is upon us once again, with Hearts' Steven Naismith the latest manager to get his P45. Just what is it about this time of year that forces clubs to take such extreme measures?

Naivety or arrogance... what's the reason for Rangers & Celtic's European downfall last week?

You can't blame Hearts though, who struck a stoppage time winner in Baku. Who had the side stuck bottom of the Premiership as Scotland's coefficient savours?!

Meanwhile, Craig Levein has shown his rock 'n' roll past admitting he used to sport a nipple ring back in the day.

And it's disturbed Laura so much she's now getting him mixed up with Steve Clarke!

It's good fun and laughs this week as the team look forward to the Scotland double header v Croatia and Portugal. Join Andrew Slaven, Laura Brannan and Findlay Marks for the latest news and stories.
