Hosting vendor shopping events at your indoor play space can be a great way for a quick cash boost AND to begin building a relationship with other local businesses owners and makers. However, the success of your first event is CRITICAL when it comes to enticing shoppers and booking vendors for any future subsequent events. So ensure you don't make these very common mistakes (many of which I have lived and learned from myself!) so you can create a smashingly successful Mother's Day event for your customers, your vendors, and your own indoor playground business.

How to tell your brand story on social media and on your website with Mariana Henninger from Brand Magnetic!

Oftentimes when I am researching other indoor playground businesses, I find that ONE thing is sorely lacking from many websites and social media channels--

And that is a captivating and intentional BRAND story.

Normally on the Profitable Play Podcast we talk about how to take care of your marketing, your team members, your sales and your customers, your business partners and vendors,- all that. But today, I want to talk about how we can take care of YOU, the business owner. 

Because while most of us have amazing support systems and teams that help us make our missions possible– we still remain at the center of it. And if we allow our stress and anxiety and overwhelm to impact our mental and physical health- EVERYTHING suffers. 

My guest on the show today is Kelly Hale. Kelly has 25 years experience in the wellness & rehab field as an OT, restorative movement specialist and nervous system regulation expert.  

Her lifelong love of learning is apparent in her numerous certifications in Pilates, Brain Gym, Body Ecology, integrative manual therapy and more. She is continually fascinated by the body’s innate ability to self regulate and heal from within. 

Kelly’s work is sought out for her unique, synergistic approach that goes beyond the diagnosis and functional deficits to examine the true root causes such as “tripped-up” reflexes, cranial-sacral system disruption, and an un-integrated nervous system. This work has inspired her to create many nervous system regulation programs for rehab and movement professionals as well as the curious person seeking a calmer, more empowered life. As a former meditation drop out herself she understands all too well the challenges of finding the peace and calm and is passionate about sharing quick, simple tools to tap into the wisdom of your nervous system.  

Kelly has owned a Holistic Rehab and Pilates practice since 2001, so she has a TON of brick and mortar experience as well. She is a highly sought out presenter at professional conferences and a key note speaker. And today, she is going to teach us how to identify WHEN our bodies are reaching burnout, how to put a stop to it and regulate our nervous system and hormones, and how to actively prevent such imbalances and disruptions in the future– so that we can stay HEALTHY in our minds and bodies- so we can be present both physically and mentally in our businesses, our relationships, and in our various roles in our families and communities.

As entrepreneurs, we are always looking for a way to increase sales, especially during what should be our busiest months. In today’s episode because we are getting into another hot topic amongst families and the play and education industries in general and that is the concept of Microschools. Now by definition, a Micro-shcool is a small, independent learning community that typically serves a limited number of students. These schools are characterized by personalized, student-centered education that is often tailored to the needs, interests, and pace of the individual students.

Sydney Loper, owner of Cultivate Studio is one of my OG Play Cafe Academy– i helped her open her doors was back in 2019- so this interview is even nearer and dearer to my heart than normal. During and after the pandemic, though, Sydney felt like she was being called to a different business model.

In this conversation Sydney is going to share why she made this pivot, how she got started, what needed to change about her space in order to make this shift possible, what her day to day and family life looks like now compared to when she was an indoor playground owner, what this pivot has meant for her financially, how her school and team have grown over the last 3 years of running her programs, what skills were able to really translate from play cafe ownership to Microschool ownership, and what she loves most about operating a Microschool. She is also going to share some of the mistakes she made along the way and tons of advice for anyone feeling Microschool curious or similarly called to this model .
