14 Nov 202334. Permaculture, Homesteading, Blogging and YouTube with Sean Jennings of Homesteadin’ Hawaii and PINA00:48:28

Sean first found Permaculture as a way to design a simple life. He went on to develop his own off grid Homestead from the ground up at the age of 23 (44 now!) and continued to do the same for others across California & Hawaii for 15 more years. During that time, he developed his online skills as a way to market the work that he was doing. That work included community activism projects such as the 2010 & 2011 One Hundred Garden Challenge that took place in Los Angeles in which he led over 800 volunteers to install over 100 edible gardens across the city in a single weekend. He was also lead organizer of the 2011 Southern CA Permaculture Convergence. Eventually, the back breaking work of installs led him to focus more and more on online marketing strategies that can help eco-based organizations get their message out into the world. When he’s not helping get the word out for PINA, you might find him coaching his son’s soccer team, catching some waves at his local surf spot or out in the garden, working on content creation projects of his own for his blog and YouTube channel, @homesteadinhawaii. www.vinepermaculture.com PDC to Professional Course Information https://vinepermaculture.com/PDC2pro/ The Permaculture Vine Newsletter Sign Up! https://vine-permaculture.ck.page/newsletter Book A Free 30 minute Consult or Chat with Vine Permaculture https://koalendar.com/e/meet-with-vine-permaculture

31 Aug 202326. Urban and Rural Permaculture Homesteading with Kerry Brown of Strong Roots Resources00:50:46

Kerry Brown has made it his mission to teach others how to understand their landscape and to create a productive property of any size, including urban and suburban lots. Over a 13-year period he turned a small urban lot into a productive space that included edible, medicinal and pollinator gardens, small livestock and wildlife habitat with ponds, various composting systems and rainwater catchment. Over time, all of these elements were integrated into a closed loop system. In October 2020, he moved to a larger space and is expanding his production plans on several acres of property. He is taking the lessons learned from urban homesteading and scaling it up for larger regenerative practices to include tractor systems for livestock, animal fodder systems, wildlife habitat management and invasive removal while applying processes that regenerate the soil. www.strongrootsresources.com https://www.facebook.com/strongrootsresources https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCv_CS6b13O8PLB9M0uZwKvQ PDC to Professional Course Information https://vinepermaculture.com/PDC2pro/ The Permaculture Vine Newsletter Sign Up! https://vine-permaculture.ck.page/newsletter Book A Free 25minute Consult or Chat with Vine Permaculture https://koalendar.com/e/meet-with-vine-permaculture

20 Apr 2023Digital Permaculture Design with Leszek Frankiewicz: The Permaculture Vine Podcast Episode 600:46:14

Leszek Frankiewicz is a permaculture designer and owner of a farm in Beskid Wyspowy. He graduated from permaculture studies with Geoff Lawton, receiving a PDC designer diploma. He then deepened his knowledge with Daniel Halsey, and since then he has been using advanced IT tools for designing. He is a member of the United Designers team, created by Dan Halsey, a team that has been doing advanced permaculture projects around the world for many years. Being part of this team allows him to use the knowledge and resources of this group, which also carried out advanced projects in Poland. He gains practical skills at home, 'on the field' near Limanowa. In his opinion, this is the best combination of activities to become an increasingly competent designer-practitioner. 14 Feb 20245 Permaculture Life and Education with Rakesh ”Rootsman Rak”: The Permaculture Vine Podcast Episode 500:58:28

Cormac Harkin from Vine Permaculture chats Rakesh "Rootsman Rak" about Permaculture teaching and some of his projects. An experienced Permaculture designer, teacher, forest garden specialist, yoga teacher, homeopath and reggae DJ. Rakesh has been designing and teaching permaculture to individuals and communities since 2009, and has taught over 500 permaculture, forest gardening, eco village design and related courses. His permaculture design portfolio ranges from large scale forest gardens in eco villages through to many urban community food growing gardens, private farms and back gardens as well as designing collaborative businesses, urban water retention systems and even computer software and documentation systems. Rakesh is also passionate about building communities, and the social side of permaculture, hence using sociocracy, dragon dreaming and other great tools and processes to create strong social bonds with clear ideas of how to creatively meet your needs in a project or community. His own journey of self empowerment (learning how to make all the things you need for yourself rather than relying on the system to provide for you), includes eco architecture (low impact housing); capturing and storing energy (electricity, heat, lighting, etc); fuel efficient heating systems (rocket heaters and stoves); water capture, purification and recycling systems, natural beekeeping and so on. All of these inform his teaching ability. He is one of the founders of the Children in Permaculture project (CiP), Youth in Permaculture (YiP) project, Roots n Permaculture Teachers Community, as well as the Roots n Permaculture Learning Community (for all his students). So be prepared to go off on inspirational tangents occasionally. Further information at: http://www.rootsnpermaculture.com/ http://childreninpermaculture.com/

Cormac Harkin chats with Eléonore Todini.

Eléonore began her journey in "real life" as an energy efficiency engineer, but she transitioned from this role five years ago to fully immerse herself in her permaculture dream. This shift wasn't just a career change; it became a pathway to serenity, joy, creativity, and true well-being for her. Over the past five years, she has traversed the globe, honing her design skills and practical knowledge through various projects. Each destination she visited provided an opportunity to glean insights from local communities and forge connections with talented individuals who share her passion. Presently, Eléonore shares her expertise by offering design services and consultations to landowners, communities, and resorts seeking to establish food forests and self-sustaining systems encompassing food, water, and energy. Additionally, she spreads the permaculture ethos by conducting workshops and classes in corporate settings, educational institutions, and online platforms. Her journey has led her through countries such as France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, the United States, Mexico, Thailand, Indonesia, Mauritius, Ghana, Brazil, and Ecuador (including the Galapagos Islands). And with the support of people like you, her adventure continues!

Mohammad Saleh, based in Jerusalem, has a background in Psychology and Musicology. His journey into sustainability took a significant turn when he lived in and later on managed an off-the-grid ecological educational center in Turkey. Immersed in hands-on learning, he deepened his understanding of sustainable living, alternative education, and regenerative design. This transformative experience led him to establish Mostadam Eco-Design upon returning to his home country, where he has spent the past decade designing, teaching, and implementing ecological and urban gardening systems tailored for the Mediterranean climate.

As a certified Permaculture teacher and designer accredited by the UK Permaculture Institute, Mohammad has trained thousands of people of all ages, empowering them with practical tools for sustainable living. He specializes in Urban-gardening, aquaponics, raised beds, water-saving gardens, water harvesting, Geodomes, earthworks management, rooftop and vertical gardens, greenhouses, dry toilets, mandala gardens, composting, and bioremediation. His designs offer solutions for landless individuals, eco-activists, students, gardeners, and small-scale farmers, blending creativity with ecological resilience.

Beyond design, Mohammad collaborates with organizations worldwide, from NGOs and schools to art centers, companies, and farms. He offers permaculture design courses (PDCs) and works with diverse groups, including teachers, students, professionals, and farmers, guiding them in regenerative practices. His multidisciplinary approach bridges academic knowledge with practical experience, making sustainability accessible to different communities.

In addition to his work in permaculture, Mohammad is also an eco-artist, using nature as his medium to raise environmental awareness. His projects include Refugee camps' Gardens, Upcycled Refuge Garden, healing gardens designed with sound frequencies, bioremediation research for detoxifying land.

From ecological landscapes to immersive learning experiences, Mohammad’s work is a testament to the power of sustainable design in transforming both environments and mindsets.

14 Feb 202585. The Homestead Consultant Ryan Steva01:03:35

Ryan is passionate about building regenerative and resilient homesteads. He first started down the rabbit hole of homesteading when he faced a health crisis in his 20s. At the time, he had to make a choice: either make major changes or live a life of illness, as doctors told him his condition was unavoidable. When he began researching the food system on his path to healing, he realized that modern agricultural practices are damaging both human health and the land. While it now seems simple to him to grow his own food and build a more fulfilling, resilient, and healthy life, that wasn’t where he started. Ryan’s journey from learning how broken our systems are to building his own has not been a perfectly straight line (he’s still building), but it has been a thrilling journey that has taught him so much. He is extremely excited to partner with others on their unique journeys toward greater independence, resilience, and a healthier, happier lifestyle.
