22 Jun 2021 | The Next Generation (Best Steam Next Fest Demos, Chicory Review, Everwild) | 01:58:00
Alright, all the big budget AAA games had their day with E3. Thanks to Steam Next Fest, it's now time to have a look at what indie games we'll be playing in the future. It's not just Sable.
To be fair... we do talk about some of those big budget AAA releases in this week's Headlines & Hot Takes. Now that The Weekspot has someone that's shown a bit of interest in Elden Ring, it'd be a shame not to chat about those interviews Miyazaki did after E3. We also discuss the recent rumours around Everwild and why it wasn't present at Microsoft's big show. And, of course, Tech Corner returns so that we can chat about windows.
But, getting back to what I was saying... THE FUTURE OF INDEPENDENT VIDEO GAMES. Matthew had a look at the Steam Next Fest demos, and came away with a few to stick on the wishlist. So, keep these four on your radar: The Plane Effect, Thief’s Roulette, Grime, and The Rewinder. Meanwhile, I have been splashing paint about the place in the absolutely smashing Chicory: A Colorful Tale.
This week's Mystery Steam Reviews is all about video games that launched out of Steam Early Access. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on games that terrified us as children, our approach to E3, and rocket cars.

29 Jun 2021 | Isaac The Lad (New Dead Space Game, Scarlet Nexus Review, Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One Preview) | 01:44:42
After eight years on the shelf, many are saying the smart money is on EA announcing a new Dead Space game at the upcoming EA Play in July. Given the fact that EA have gone back to Mirror's Edge and they're in the process of reviving Skate, it's not a bad shout.
So, obviously enough, this week's Headlines & Hot Takes contains some chatter on whether we'll see a new Dead Space pop up at EA's notE3 event. We also get into our thoughts on what a new Dead Space looks like in 2021. We also discuss the rumblings around WB Games Montreal making a new game (that might be Superman-related). And, of course, we give our in-depth analysis on that Windows 11 livestream during Tech Corner.
Scarlet Nexus gets the once over in Show and Tell. While the combat is really good fun, I wasn't that gone on the story. Meanwhile, Matthew's had a chance to play a bit of Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One. Young Holmes looks very One Direction.
This week's Mystery Steam Reviews is all about video games that explain what you do in their name. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on whether we cheat, our favourite comedies, and what we do to de-stress.

27 Apr 2021 | Grimoire Weiss City (Nier Replicant Review, RE: Verse impressions, Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion Review) | 01:55:54
While the original didn’t garner much fanfare over 10 years ago, the success of Nier Automata had people excited about Nier Replicant. And, by all accounts, the general public has enjoyed it much more this time around than they did back in 2010.
Thank god for the update of the old game, because we didn’t have tons to discuss for Headlines & Hot Takes on this episode of The Weekspot. However, the announcement of The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles did get Matthew all excited, and rumours have been floating around about a Metal Gear Solid remake, and Colm got to talk to my co-host about his new drum kit, so it’s not like we didn’t have anything to discuss.
But, yes, this was a Show and Tell-heavy episode of the podcast, with Nier Replicant ver.1.22etc taking centre stage. While Matthew isn't quite as hot on it as some others are, he still recognises that this is the definitive edition of a pretty decent video game. The boy of the Castles also continues to be a bit unsure about Resident Evil Village after giving last week’s timed demo a go. Meanwhile, Colm jumped into the RE:Verse beta and had an adequate time; he had much more fun with the sweet and funny Turnip Boy Commits Tax Exasion. And Before Your Eyes is the best narrative-driven, blinky game he's ever played.
This week's Mystery Steam Reviews is all about games that are based on mythology. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on emergency foods and burning people.

10 Aug 2021 | Undead To Me (Back 4 Blood Preview, Marvel XCOM Rumours, Death Trash Impressions) | 01:56:03
Colm’s never played a single second of Left 4 Dead. So, he can't properly compare the new game to the source material. However, he can say that he had a ball playing the Back 4 Blood beta with other members of the RPS treehouse. It's good, old-fashioned zombie killing funtimes!
While Turtle Rock's upcoming game dominates this week's show, Headlines and Hot Takes is full of chat on what could be next from 2K. Apparently there's an "exciting new franchise" coming, so we get chatting on the rumoured Marvel XCOM, and the Hangar 13 game that's apparently a little Cthulu, a little Saints Row. We also talk about different coloured Steam Decks for a minute.
As already mentioned, Show and Tell is full of chatter on Turtle Rock's new horde-slaying game. While Colm isn’t going to be breaking down the minute differences between the two games, he does say he had a lovely time playing Back 4 Blood with Team RPS. To be fair, he also had quite a nice time playing Death Trash on his lonesome. Meanwhile, Matthew's been cutting some grass in Lawn Mowing Simulator.
This week's Mystery Steam Reviews is all about video games with romance options. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on mobile games, skateboarding, and feeling horrible.

07 Sep 2020 | #06: Tony Hawk The System | 01:54:45
Welcome to The PC Gaming Weekspot, Rock Paper Shotgun’s weekly recap on the last seven days in PC video gaming.
In Headlines and Hot Takes, we discuss Nvidia's new RTX cards, the Prince of Persia remake rumours floating around, Hello Games working on a game that's "ambitious like No Man's Sky" and loads more.
In Show and Tell, Colm praises Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, while Matthew chats about returning to Kingdoms of Amalur and playing the campaign of Marvel’s Avengers.
On top of that we’ve got Mystery Steam Reviews, Burning Questions, and everything is set for The Weekspot's biggest ever interview... definitely, this week.

06 Jul 2021 | OOPs, They’re Doing It Again (Control Co-op Spin-Off Announced, The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles Preview, Doki Doki Literature Club Plus Review) | 01:44:27
I don't think many were betting on Control getting a co-op spin-off. Some Remedy fans might be a bit put off by the studio focusing on a multiplayer game, but we're a little more positive.
It's more of a Headline & Hot Take this week as we focus the majority of our news chat on the upcoming four-player PvE game. All we've had so far is a bit of concept art for the game that's codenamed Condor, but that doesn't stop us speculating on what we can expect. We also talk about painting during Tech Corner.
Matthew brings one of his most anticipated games of 2021 to Show and Tell, this week, as he's had the chance to play a bit of The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles. It's not the final verdict, but he's liked what he's played so far. And I've played Doki Doki Literature Club Plus over the last seven days, and while it loses a bit of its lustre if you played the original, it is still a quality game.
This week's Mystery Steam Reviews is all about video games that have been adapted for movies. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on what we wanted to be when we were older, Stadia, and overrated chocolate bars.

12 Oct 2020 | #09: Like A Dragon Kart | 02:03:37
Welcome to The PC Gaming Weekspot, Rock Paper Shotgun’s weekly recap on the last seven days in PC video gaming.
In Headlines and Hot Takes, we discuss xCloud on PC, Crystal Dynamics’ promise to pull back Marvel's Avengers players, Her Story developer Sam Barlow on a Silent Hill: Shattered Memories-like game, and we enter tech corner to discuss -- in-depth -- AMD's Ryzen 5000 CPUs.
Colm’s spent a few hours in Yokohama, in Yakuza: Like A Dragon, and has come with opinions on the new RPG combat, as well as all the new mini-games. Meanwhile, Matthew’s booted up Genshin Impact to see if it is the Breath Of The Wild-like people claim.
On top of that we’ve got a 2014 edition of Mystery Steam Reviews, we take your Burning Questions, and the biggest interview in PC games is definitely going to happen.100 percent… if Steven’s internet holds up.

Welcome to The PC Gaming Weekspot, Rock Paper Shotgun’s weekly recap on the last seven days in PC video gaming.
In our news segment, Headlines and Hot Takes, we discuss Halo Infinite's free-to-play multiplayer, the possibility of a Fable MMO, Epic Games Store mods and achievements, the Splinter Cell anime, The Avengers' Hawkeye DLC and more.
As well as that, in Show and Tell (our segment where we discuss what we’ve been playing), Matthew talks about how much he’s loved his time with Microsoft Flight Simulator, while Colm gives his impressions of Obsidian’s new survival game, Grounded.
Plus, what is a video games podcast without some sort of quiz? So, you’ll get to listen to the first ever edition of Mystery Steam Reviews, we take Burning Questions from the live chat and we finish the show with a big interview featuring a Hollywood director. How nice.

02 Nov 2020 | #12: Cyberpunk 1210 | 02:03:59
Welcome to The PC Gaming Weekspot, Rock Paper Shotgun’s weekly recap on the last seven days in PC video games.
In Headlines and Hot Takes, we discuss the Cyberpunk 2077 delay (and everything that happened around CD Projekt Red in the last week), Ubisoft delaying Far Cry 6 and Rainbow Six Quarantine, the Final Fantasy 16 protagonist being called Clive and we have an in-depth report on the Radeon RX 600 graphics cards.
In Show And Tell, Colm and Matthew discuss their time playing Ubisoft’s big London hack ‘em up, Watch Dogs Legion. And, on top of that, Colm’s been playing the latest game from developer Supermassive Games: Little Hope. Spoiler: it wasn’t the Until Dawn-like he so desperately wants.
As well as that, Mystery Steam Reviews is (almost timely) and revolves around scary games, and we open The Weekspot mailbag in Burning Questions.

17 Aug 2020 | #03: Halo Today, Gone Tomorrow | 02:22:37
Welcome to The PC Gaming Weekspot, Rock Paper Shotgun’s weekly recap on the last seven days in PC video gaming.
In Headlines and Hot Takes, we discuss the Halo Infinite delay, Epic Games suing Apple because of Fortnite, the next BioShock game not being set in Rapture or Columbia (maybe), new details on the Dead Space developer's cancelled Star Wars game and much, much more.
As well as that, in Show and Tell, Colm and Matthew have been playing the Marvel's Avengers beta and are surprised by how alright it is, Matthew thinks you should play indie delight There Is No Game: Wrong Dimension, while Colm thinks you should probably pass on Fast & Furious: Crossroads.
Plus, everyone's favourite quiz, Mystery Steam Reviews, returns, and we take Burning Questions from the live chat. And, of course, a big interview at the end of the show...

19 Oct 2020 | #10: Diamond In The Ruffian | 01:49:05
Welcome to The PC Gaming Weekspot, Rock Paper Shotgun’s weekly recap on the last seven days in PC video gaming.
In Headlines and Hot Takes, we discuss Rockstar Games snapping up Crackdown developer Ruffian Games, Phil Spencer’s had some thoughts on the Bethesda purchase and the whereabouts of Banjo-Kazooie and Conker, and we enter tech corner to discuss -- in-depth -- AMD's Ryzen 5000 CPUs… again.
Following on from last week’s Yakuza: Like A Dragon chat, Colm’s played Streets of Kamurocho (one of Sega’s 60th birthday freebies). He’s also had a go on Golden Axed, which leads to The Weekspot boys chatting about a recent Twitter thread from the prototype’s programmer. Matthew’s been scratching his Desperados-shaped itch with some Partisans 1941, and while it may not be up to the standard of the Western from earlier this year, he still enjoyed his time with it.
On top of that we’ve got a 2013 edition of Mystery Steam Reviews, we take your Burning Questions, and the biggest interview in PC games is definitely not going to happen this week. But Greta pops by (via email).

08 Dec 2020 | The Signing Of Isaac (Metal Gear Solid movie, Twin Mirror, Unto The End) | 02:05:04
On this week's show, we discuss Oscar Isaac in the Metal Gear Solid movie, the departures at BioWare, we've got a Twin Mirror review for you and loads more. It's time for your recap of the last seven days in PC video gaming.
In Headlines and Hot Takes, we discuss Star Wars actor Oscar Isaac being cast as Snake in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid movie (and we cast the rest of the film ourselves), there's some chat on what the recent departures at BioWare could mean (the answer is maybe nothing?) and Colm tells a very sad story involving the Nvidia 3060 Ti in Tech Corner.
In Show And Tell, Colm goes in on his time with the very underwhelming, and times a bit funny, Twin Mirror. He had a much nicer time with wholesome stealth game, El Hijo - A Wild West Tale. Meanwhile, Matthew's been playing the Playdead-inspired, combat-heavy Unto The End.
Because of the Dragon Age talk in the last few days (and the news we anticipate coming from The Game Awards), this week's Mystery Steam Reviews is all about western RPGs. It results in maybe the oddest MSR ever. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag in Burning Questions.

24 Nov 2020 | #15: Bond, Games Bond | 02:03:44
Welcome to The PC Gaming Weekspot, Rock Paper Shotgun’s weekly recap on the last seven days in PC video games.
In Headlines and Hot Takes, there’s plenty of speculation on what Hitman developer IO Interactive might do with the recently announced Project 007, we wonder what audience is The Game Awards serving, and we wonder what dead celebrities almost showed up in Cyberpunk 2077.
In Show And Tell, Matthew talks about his time with the PS5 controller, the DualSense, and what it could potentially do for PC players. Meanwhile, Colm’s been having a lovely time in Giant Squid’s pretty exploration game, The Pathless.
Given all the chatter around the new video game boxes, Mystery Steam Reviews focuses on PC ports of once console exclusives, and we open The Weekspot mailbag in Burning Questions.

20 Apr 2021 | Merc Ethic (Resident Evil Village Mercenaries announced and Demo Impressions) | 01:54:20
We hope your interest in Resident Evil Village goes beyond the tall woman with the pale face, because we're going deep on the next big game of 2021, on this week's episode of The Weekspot.
The latest Resident Evil Showcase was always going to dominate this week's Headlines & Hot Takes. Firstly, we chat about the Mercenaries comeback and how we think that'll play out in the upcoming Resi. Also, Matthew's played the first half of the demo that PC players will get to play in two weeks time, and he has some thoughts. As well as that, we discuss the Mass Effect Legendary Edition trailer that split the crowd. And this week's Tech Corner revolves around the creepiest webcam you'll ever come across.
Matthew's been taken back to simpler times by playing the recently released Shadow Man Remaster for Show And Tell. He's also had a go on that Darkside Detective: A Fumble In The Dark and has come away quite pleased. Meanwhile, Colm enjoyed his time watering people from the sky in Rain On Your Parade. His three hours with Don't Forget Me weren't quite as fun, sadly.
This week's Mystery Steam Reviews is all about critically acclaimed belters. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on novels that should be video games and the most annoying things we've lost.

03 Aug 2021 | Outer Wilds Card (Annapurna Interactive Showcase Recap, The Ascent Impressions, Omno Review) | 01:50:16
Annapurna really stretched the limits of notE3 by putting on their inaugural showcase so late in the day, but I’m glad they did. They showed off a lot of cool things, like Neon White and Stray. We even got the briefest of looks at the upcoming Outer Wilds DLC.
Headlines and Hot Takes is full of chat on what the publisher packed into a half an hour last week. And, yes, while the cat looked decent, and the first-person card shooter-thing looked intriguing, Echoes Of The Eye definitely takes up most of our time. We’ve also renamed Tech Corner, because you and I both know it’ll be Steam Deck from now until December.
It’s been a bit quiet when it comes to new releases, but Matthew found some time to have a go on twin-stick shooter The Ascent. While the couple of hours he played didn’t blow him away, it’s definitely worth a look via Game Pass. Xbox’s subscription service also gave me a chance to play some of the very pleasant Omno.
This week's Mystery Steam Reviews is all about video games that were made by studios that have since closed down. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on indie games, Olympic sports, and Mog.

22 Dec 2020 | The Spotty Awards 2020 (Game Of The Year) | 01:36:46
We're pretty confident that all developers that released a game in 2020 would see that as their proudest moment. Just launching a video game during a pandemic is an incredible achievement.
However, the second proudest moment for them, of course, is being recognised at the most flash and prestigious video games awards ceremony of the year: The Spotty Awards!
No expense has been spared for this year’s awards show, which celebrates the best that video games had to offer, and only very briefly mentions what video games will be offering in 2021. We couldn’t nab any world premieres, so we thought we’d leave off the trailers and announcements, this year.
So, with The Spotty Awards, we don’t recap the last seven days in PC video gaming. Instead, we celebrate the video games we enjoyed more than other video games over the past year. Colm and Matthew have both chosen four of their favourites, as well as their outright games of the year for 2020. There are laughs, there are tears, but it’s mostly just them chatting about the PC games they liked.
There is always time for a trip to the MSR arena, and given the time of year, this week’s Mystery Steam Reviews is all about Christmas-themed video games. But, ya know, there aren’t loads of them, so we’ve also opened it up to snowier games, too.
If you’re celebrating something in late December, we hope you have a lovely time doing it. If you’re just planning on eating and drinking loads, we also think you should enjoy yourselves, too!
Thanks very much for listening / watching. We'll see you again in the new year!

26 Oct 2020 | #11: One Last Death Stranding | 02:04:38
Welcome to The PC Gaming Weekspot, Rock Paper Shotgun’s weekly podcast about the last seven days in PC video games.
In Headlines and Hot Takes, we discuss Kojima Productions’ next game (and whether it might be Death Stranding 2), the former StarCraft 2 devs at Frost Giant Studios and their mission to bring RTS to the masses, Alex Hutchinson arguing that streamers should pay developers, Gears 5 DLC and we go in-depth on Intel and their 7nm CPUs!
In Show And Tell, Matthew chats about his time with the vicious Mirror’s Edge-ish Ghostrunner. It’s quite hard. Meanwhile, Colm’s been enjoying an early build of the creepy Little Nightmares 2.
On top of that we’ve got a water-based edition of Mystery Steam Reviews, and we open The Weekspot mailbag in Burning Questions.
Our little show began life as a weekly YouTube livestream, so some things may be lost in the audio version of this The PC Gaming Weekspot episode, but we hope you still enjoy it!

18 May 2021 | Mako And Play The Whole Thing (Mass Effect Legendary Edition, Shin Megami Tensei 3, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla DLC) | 01:53:53
Do you like Mass Effect?... If you answered, “I, SPACEMAN,” then you probably already own the Legendary Edition and may find the conversation that happens in this week's Weekspot redundant. If you checked the box that said, “the only renegade I know of is one-time WCW Television Champion, The Renegade, but I'd love to hear some chat on a remaster of a celebrated RPG trilogy," then I've got just the podcast for you.
But, before we get onto BioWare, you can hear us chat about Ubisoft's plan to make moves in the free-to-play market, and we also discuss the price of the Vive Pro 2 and whether we’ve spent upwards of £1300 on anything in our lives.
But, yes, this is a Show and Tell-heavy podcast this week. Mass Effect isn't the only remaster we talk about on this episode, though. Matthew's played the PC port of Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne, and he's come away pleased with the game but underwhelmed with the remastering. We also discuss Wrath of the Druids (the Assassin's Creed Valhalla DLC set in Ireland), a stock market game called The Invisible Hand, and a 2D platformer called Sockventure that's about – you guessed it – the rise and fall of the European Super League... no, sorry, it's about socks.
This week's Mystery Steam Reviews is all about single player games that have multiple playable characters. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on our favourite developers and games we finished before they finished.

16 Mar 2021 | Can You Repeat That? (Loop Hero, Microsoft and Bethesda, Square Enix Presents Speculation) | 01:55:13
I knew Loop Hero was going to click with a decent number of people, I just didn’t expect that I’d be one of those people talking about builds with high vampirism and what cards combo best.
While we dedicate a fair bit of time to the game of the moment in this week’s episode, we do go through some of the bigger news stories of the last fortnight first. Headlines and Hot Takes is full of chat on Microsoft and Bethesda making their relationship official, as well as what Square Enix might have planned for their upcoming Square Enix Presents showcase. Also, in Tech Corner, we discuss some nightmare facial tracking in virtual reality.
But, yes, Show and Tell focuses on Four Quarters hit new game, Loop Hero. It’s a tough one to describe, because there aren’t many others like it, but I give it a go on this podcast. The main thing you need to know is that it is one of this year’s best games, so far. Also, I bring the Prince Of Persia-like from a few months back, Olija, to the table.
This week’s Mystery Steam Reviews is an easy one to explain, as it’s all about games with female protagonists. A simple theme doesn’t mean this one isn’t rife with arguments. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on funny games, how we pronounce words, and whether we prefer this or that.

02 Feb 2021 | Smells Like Lean Spirit (The Medium Review, Hitman 3 DLC, King Arthur: Knight’s Tale) | 01:56:27
Bloober Team’s latest seemed to split reviewers when the embargo lifted last week. Some hailed it as a game of the year contender, whilst others claimed it was the drizzling poos. The name of the game perfectly sums up Colm’s feelings on The Medium.
But, before we turn our attention to The Medium, there’s the little matter of newsy-news. Now, because our knowledge of the stock market stops and ends with things like The Big Short and Billions, we’ve decided to focus on things that we can talk about for longer than 40 seconds. So, Headlines and Hot Takes this week has chatter on what IO Interactive might do when it comes to Hitman 3 DLC, and there’s also some talk on what they said about James Bond in some recent interviews. And, as well as that, we discuss what live service games Warner Bros. might have up their giant, publishing sleeve. Tech Corner obviously leads to us discussing how you can actually bet on wrestling.
Show and Tell is full of talk on the mediocre game involving all the dead people. The story is just there, the puzzles are merely fine, and the scares are non-existent, but there is one pretty decent thing in the game: the dual-reality system. It works surprisingly well and is reason enough to give it a go if you have Xbox Game Pass. While Colm's been communicating with spirits, Matthew's been checking out medieval XCOM, King Arthur: Knight's Tale. It's early, but he likes what he sees.
We decided to focus on games with playable characters that have psychic abilities for Mystery Steam Reviews this week. Our definition of psychic abilities is both fast and also loose. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on bad games we liked as kids, maps, and Christmas biscuits.

20 Jul 2021 | The Gabe Gear Is Real (Valve Steam Deck, Death’s Door Review, Cris Tales Impressions) | 02:00:14
WonderSteam, N-Gabe, Valvita: you can call it whatever you like because Valve have made their intentions clear. They’re keen to elbow their way into the handheld market with the Steam Deck.
Of course, Headline & Hot Takes has loads of chat on Valve’s Switch-like handheld. We chat about who this is for, we speculate on whether or not developers are going to be taking the Steam Deck into consideration when making their games, and we chat about how it looks. We’re very superficial. We also discuss the chatter around Netflix moving into video games, and we’ve got some EA Play predictions for you, too.
For Show and Tell, I brought Death’s Door to the discussion. It’s a little Zelda, a little Dark Souls, and loads of crow. I think this game is brilliant, and you should play it. Matthew wasn’t as hot on the first few hours of JRPG Cris Tales, but the time-travelling mechanic definitely has him intrigued. I also played a little bit of the new Streets Of Rage 4 DLC. It’s Streets Of Rage 4. So, I like it.
This week's Mystery Steam Reviews is all about video games that have AI-controlled companions. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on Cyberpunk 2077 and Miami in the ‘80s.

15 Dec 2020 | Symphony Of The Night City (Cyberpunk 2077, The Game Awards 2020) | 02:03:41
On this week's show, we recap The Game Awards 2020 and review Cyberpunk 2077. It's time for your recap of the last seven days in PC video gaming.
In Headlines and Hot Takes, we discuss all of the news coming out of Geoff Keighley’s Night Of Trailers And Announcements, like the official reveal of the new Perfect Dark, we chat about the very Dead Space-y The Callisto Protocol, and we wonder what's in store for us after watching the new Mass Effect trailer. But, even with The Game Awards 2020 recap, there’s still time for Tech Corner.
And, yes, Cyberpunk 2077 dominates Show And Tell. Colm's played around 20 hours or so, and Matthew's absolutely rinsed the thing, so The Weekspot Boys go in-depth on CD Projekt Red's futuristic GTA. The guns, the story, the unsettling adverts scattered around Night City: we don't leave a single cyber stone unturned.
Because cyberpunk is on everyone's minds lately, this week's Mystery Steam Reviews is all about the genre of cyberpunk games. The only problem is that we probably should've figured out what that meant beforehand. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag and answering your Burning Questions.

13 Jul 2021 | Taking Their Talents To South Beach (GTA VI Vice City, Assassin’s Creed Infinity, King’s Bounty 2 Impressions) | 01:37:56
I can picture it now: cruising down Vice Point, behind the wheel of a Cheetah, giving off big divorced dad energy as W.A.S.P. bellows from the car stereo. How brilliant would it be to head back to Rockstar's Miami? If you believe what's been said over the past few days, we'll all get the chance to revisit one of video game's great locations in a few years time.
Headline & Hot Takes is full of chat on Grand Theft Auto VI: Vice City. Nothing's set in stone – expect confirmation of what GTA VI actually is somewhere between now and whenever – so listen to this to hear some juicy, totally unfounded speculation. One thing we can be a little more sure on is Assassin's Creed Infinity. Well... we can talk with a little more confidence when it comes to Ubi's live-service stabbing, because we know it's actually happening. But, in truth, we also don't know what that is. Everyone enjoys a bit of conjecture!
For Show and Tell, Matthew's brought King's Bounty 2. While he was expecting something more Witcher-y, he was relatively pleased with it after a limited time with the game. Meanwhile, I played that first-person flinger, Boomerang X. It's a pretty enjoyable, throwaway (and catch again) fun.
This week's Mystery Steam Reviews is all about video games that have one word titles. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on Bounty bars, the first game we finished, and sounds.

25 May 2021 | Fur Fur Two (Biomutant Review, Timesplitters is Back, Knockout City Impressions) | 01:53:03
I was really looking forward to being a furry little animal in Biomutant. Running around a gorgeous world, shooting and slashing everything that moved sounded like a delightful time. And while it can sometimes be fun, the game often finds a way of bringing everything to a screeching halt, sadly.
But, before we broach the topic of this week’s Big Game, we’ve got some news to talk about in Headlines & Hot Takes. On this episode, the conversation is dominated by Timesplitters. Yes, Timesplitters. Deep Silver are getting the band back together to work on a new entry in the beloved FPS series. We also talk about what Gearbox could be up to, and whether or not it’ll be something wildly different to Borderlands. And, of course, we stop by Tech Corner to chat about the Gamecube.
As already mentioned, Biomutant leads our Show and Tell discussion, this week. It’s been a long time coming, which is maybe why it feels like a more old-fashioned open-world game. Jumping about a very pretty environment, unleashing your Super Wung Fu skills is occasionally enjoyable, but everything around that is a bit of a slog. A game that delivers on its promise – its promise being frivolous fun – is Knockout City. Whether or not it’ll have legs remains to be seen, but it’s worth a go if you have Xbox Game Pass For PC. Meanwhile, Matthew’s been playing the weird and wonderful Mind Scanners.
This week's Mystery Steam Reviews is all about games that are set in Japan. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on big life decisions, the perfect PC and console hybrid and abandonware.

15 Jun 2021 | One Ring To Rule Them All (E3 2021 Recap and Review: Elden Ring, Guardians Of The Galaxy, Forza Horizon 5 And More) | 02:00:40
It was a weird E3. A lot of video games we already knew about, and more CG trailers than we might like, but there were still some notable announcements and gameplay reveals. While Kevin Hart didn't seem too pleased with his involvement in the festivities, those watching at home had an alright time.
Rather than breakdown every livestream for this week's Headlines & Hot Takes, we've decided to pluck out the things we liked the look of, and have a nice chat about them. The Elden Ring trailer has made a believer out of Matthew, which is something no one was expecting. And even if it went on a little long during Square's chaos-filled showcase, I quite liked the look of Guardians of the Galaxy. We also dedicate some time to that Forza Horizon 5 gameplay, the Redfall announcement, and whether we really need 77 different shows
We've actually played some games, too. Matthew’s brought Overboard to this week’s Show and Tell. He compares it to Hitman, so I know I'll be playing it as soon as possible. One thing I likely won't be playing again is Backbone. That gets the old skip stamp, kids.
This week's Mystery Steam Reviews is all about video games that were announced at past E3 press conferences. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on podcast games and hugging developers.

11 May 2021 | All Lycan Eat (Resident Evil Village Review, Info Coming Out Of Epic Games vs Apple) | 01:53:33
We’ve been doing The Weekspot for the best part of nine months now. In that time, there’s been weeks where either the big releases have dried up, or the news has been lacking a little oomph. But, I think we’ve been able to cobble together a podcast you can enjoy, regardless of the previous seven days in PC video gaming. This week, there was zero cobbling.
Headlines & Hot Takes revolves around one topic: Epic Games vs Apple. The amount of information coming out of that courtroom has been wild. Epic have shelled out close to $12 million on those free games you’ve been downloading every time you remember to login, and the figure they've spent on Epic Games Store exclusives is staggering. We also now know that Fortnite has made them lots and lots of money. An especially surprising one, that. Also, we stop by Tech Corner for a look at a super shiny Mario 64.
Like the news, Show and Tell also centres on one thing. A big thing. A scary thing. Well, scary in parts. Resident Evil Village is finally out, and both myself and Matthew have finished it. So, click that play button and you’ll hear some chat on the Metroidvania-ness of the village, the frightening but also terrific puppet named Angie, and the shift from scares to shooting about half way through. And the comedy, of course. Who knew Resi 8 would be such a hoot?
This week's Mystery Steam Reviews is all about games that have multiple endings. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on seminal games we haven’t played, good date night games, and wild publicity stunts.

19 Jan 2021 | He Belongs In A Video Game (Indiana Jones, Hitman 3 Review) | 01:47:05
After an extended Christmas break, video games are most definitely back. All it took was for The Mouse to remember that there's money in these here hills.
How could Indiana motherflipping Jones not lead this week's Headlines and Hot Takes? It's been a long time since we've had a video game featuring a wisecracking treasure hunter not called Nathan, so this is very exciting. We go back and forth on what MachineGames' Indy game might actually turn out to be. Lucasfilm Games didn't stop there, as it was also revealed during the last week that The Division devs are working on an open-world Star Wars game. Even with all this movie video game chatter, there's always time to stop off at Tech Corner, though.
Show and Tell focuses on one game this week, but it's 2021's first biggie: Hitman 3. Colm's played through it once, while Matthew's devoured the thing, so The Weekspot Boys go in-depth on the final entry in Ian Hitman's World of Assassination trilogy.
Given the hoopla surrounding both the Indiana Jones and Star Wars announcements, it was only right that this week's Mystery Steam Reviews would revolve around video games based on movie properties. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag and answering your Burning Questions.

17 Nov 2020 | #14: Fuser Generated Content | 02:00:56
Welcome to The PC Gaming Weekspot, Rock Paper Shotgun’s weekly recap on the last seven days in PC video games.
In Headlines and Hot Takes, we discuss the Elden Ring mention in the big Phil Spencer interview, Yakuza producer Daisuke Sato saying that he’d like to get involved with a Sonic The Hedgehog game, streamers suffering from DMCA takedowns, and we’ve got an important Tech Corner for you that revolves around vaping into electronics.
In Show And Tell, Colm’s overjoyed to be discussing a great music game! Harmonix’s Fuser has totally blown him away. Meanwhile, Matthew’s been enjoying the melodies of the wonderful Tetris Effect: Connected.
As well as that, Mystery Steam Reviews goes faux-retro as we look at modern games that use pixel art. And we open The Weekspot mailbag in Burning Questions. And, after a few weeks of limited updates, we’ve got Greta Surname on the show to discuss whether or not Mr. Spielberg will ever appear on The PC Gaming Weekspot.
Our little show began life as a weekly YouTube livestream, so some things may be lost in the audio version of this The PC Gaming Weekspot episode, but we hope you still enjoy it!

Often your recap of the last seven days in PC video gaming, this week's show is a little different as you'll hear us mainly chatting about all of the lovely video games we'll be getting our hands on over the course of the next twelve months.
While not necessarily news, we've decided to lump our chat on our most anticipated games of 2021 in the Headlines and Hot Takes bit. Everyone's been off for the last two weeks, so there hasn't been much in the way of newsy news. So, from Far Cry 6 to Ghostwire: Tokyo, Hitman 3 to Gotham Knights, if it's out this year, and one of us saw it on Wikipedia's 2021 in video games page, we chatted about it on this week's episode of the podcast.
For Show and Tell, Colm decided to revisit the big, burly lot in Gears of War, as he fired up the recently released DLC for Gears 5. He enjoyed Hivebusters because it reminded him how much he enjoys shooting manky-looking maggot men. Also, in an attempt to feel young again, he's had a go on 2020's biggest 2018 game, Among Us.
As we look forward to 2021, we decided to reflect on the year that was 2020 for this week's Mystery Steam Reviews. We also thought picking games that came out only a few months ago would mean we'd actually get some right. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag and answering your Burning Questions.

09 Feb 2021 | The Good-looking Shepard (Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, Persona 5 Strikers Review, Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Earthblood) | 01:51:49
All BioWare had to do to garner some love from their dejected fanbase was partially remake the first Mass Effect, and also remaster its two sequels. Stick with what works.
Obviously, Headlines and Hot Takes is full of chat on all the Mass Effect: Legendary Edition news that's come out in the last week, like the DLC they've included (and omitted), the fact Mass Effect 3 won't have multiplayer, and the questionable framing shots that they've worked on sorting out. On top of that, we discuss Embracer Group's plan to acquire every video game company they can, as news of their Gearbox acquisition broke in the past seven days. There's always time to stop off at Tech Corner, of course, and this week it's all about fire.
Show and Tell features loads of chat on the Persona 5-Dynasty Warriors mash-up from someone who has very little history with either series. If you're a turn-based purest, then you might baulk at the entire idea of Persona 5 Strikers, but Colm is here to tell you why you'd be silly to do so. Meanwhile, Matthew's been embracing his inner wolfman in Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Earthblood. Mainly because playing as any of the other forms are a bit meh.
We decided to do something a little different for this week’s Mystery Steam Reviews: we let you choose the theme, and you decided to see if we know our video games with playable animal characters. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on our reviews being off-the-mark and whether or not we’re less invested in games if we haven’t parted with cash to play them.

24 Aug 2021 | A Beautiful Mind (Psychonauts 2 Review, Twelve Minutes Review, Saints Row Reboot News) | 01:58:58
Double Fine did it: they made a sequel to Psychonauts that's great. And different, too. It's a follow-up with modern day sensibilities that plays much better than the original. Given that it was one of our most anticipated games of the year, it's fair to say we're quite pleased.
Another enjoyable thing is that news happened over the last week. Great for anyone that does a podcast that revolves around current events in video games. While Volition haven't officially announced it yet, Geoff Keighley appears to be gearing up to reveal a Saints Row reboot at Gamescom, so we go into what we imagine that might look like. And Sledgehammer Games is going to World War II with Call Of Duty: Vanguard, but it sounds like they haven't totally concerned themselves with historical accuracy.
Psychonauts 2 chat takes up most of the runtime on this week's show, though. It's not like we didn’t have issues with the game, but those quibbles pale in comparison to how much we enjoyed it. It's a cracker that you should most definitely play. Another game we talk about that you could probably skip is Twelve Minutes. A cool idea, but not marvellous in execution.
This week's Mystery Steam Reviews is all about video games that are either set on the moon or have a moon level. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on underrated gems, conventions, and cartoon games.

05 Oct 2021 | The Spotty Awards 2021 (Game Of The Year… So Far) | 02:20:04
This week, you get the second ever Spotty Awards as we look at our game of the year 2021 (so far) picks, it’s time for the last ever Mystery Steam Reviews, and we’ve got a load of Burning Questions to get through. The PC Gaming Weekspot was the only PC video games podcast you needed in your life if you were looking for some lovely PC gaming news and some wonderful PC gameplay. Thanks for listening and watching.
After countless Xbox Game Pass plugs, a lot of Dooming, and the arrival and subsequent disappearance of Greta Surname, The PC Gaming Weekspot is coming to an end. But, before we go, there's time to highlight some of our favourite games of 2021.
While our very fancy awards show makes up the majority of this final episode, it would be a shame not to include Huw Edwards. This week's Headlines & Hot Takes focuses on all the rumours surrounding some Konami comebacks. Silent Hill, Metal Gear, and Castlevania are all slated to be returning, so we chat about that for a bit. And then we talk about being used... Tech Corner really is a haven for hardware news.
Because we won't be around at year's end, the second ever Spotty Awards has been brought forward a few months. So, listen to us chat about some of our favourites from the last nine or ten months.
This week's Mystery Steam Reviews focuses on video games that were released in 2021. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on loads of stuff. But it's mainly you lovely listeners and viewers saying nice things.
One final note: if you did happen to listen or watch any episodes of our little podcast, thank you very much. It's been a pleasure to record over the last year. Go raibh maith agat agus slán go fóill.

21 Sep 2021 | Bridge Of Spies (Deathloop Review, Kena: Bridge Of Spirits Review, The Leaked GeForce Now List) | 02:06:53
After getting a taste last week, both myself and Matthew have spent the last few days in Blackreef. We've been enjoying doing the same things over and over. Yeah, Deathloop is pretty good.
Before we chat about our looping adventures in Arkane's FPS, we discuss the recently leaked Nvidia GeForce Now list. You're not going to win any prizes for guessing that some of these games will come to PC, but the prospect of others is a little bit more exciting. I mean, I know I could really go for some Titanfall 3. But, it is all pure speculation at this point. But, everyone loves a bit of that, anyway, don't they?
For the second week in a row, the game that makes up the majority of our conversation is Deathloop. We've both played it now and mostly agree it is a belter. There are a few minor caveats, but overall it's one you should definitely make time for. Also, I've been playing Kena: Bridge Of Spirits. And, yeah, The Rot are definitely the highlight.
This week's Mystery Steam Reviews focuses on video games with robot protagonists. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on comfort food, games we replay, and fursonas.

02 Mar 2021 | Javelin Throw Down (Anthem, It Takes Two, Valheim) | 01:36:34
There comes a point, regardless of your interest in a particular video game, where you can't ignore the popular one. Valheim has been dominating the charts since it came out last month, so I recently decided to jump in and see what all the fuss was about. And, after a couple of hours, it seems the fuss relates to that sense of accomplishment after you've constructed a terrible house. At least that's my experience with it.
But, before we chat about the viking game on this episode of The PC Gaming Weekspot, Headlines and Hot Takes is full of chat on BioWare's last couple of days. First of all, EA cancelled the big Anthem Next push to No Man's Sky the online RPG, so we chat about what could've been. And, while not confirmed yet, the cold response Anthem has garnered since launch is reportedly part of the reason the next Dragon Age isn't going to have multiplayer. Also, PlayStation boss Jim Ryan recently revealed that the mediocre Days Gone is the next PlayStation exclusive coming to PC. Hooray? And, of course, there's always time to stop off at Tech Corner to discuss the cryptoboys and girls again.
So, yeah, Colm took it upon himself to head out into the wilderness to bludgeon goblins and build huts for Show and Tell. He hasn't been able to sink loads of time into Valheim, but he was quite pleased with the beautiful home he built for himself. Colm also recently had the chance to play the new co-op game from A Way Out developer, Hazelight Studios, It Takes Two. If you like playing nicely with others, you should definitely keep your eye on this one.
Mystery Steam Reviews is all about advertising, this week. So, it's games that feature products and services your can purchase in the real world. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on jobs and console games.

01 Dec 2020 | #16: Fenyx Nice | 01:42:23
Welcome to The PC Gaming Weekspot, Rock Paper Shotgun’s weekly recap on the last seven days in PC video games.
In Headlines and Hot Takes, we discuss the recently announced Hitman 3 location, Chongqing, and what that the future might hold for Ian Hitman. As well as that, CD Projekt Red’s CEO has said that Cyberpunk 2077’s multiplayer will be a standalone thing, so there’s some speculation on that. Plus, some chatter on Marvel’s Avengers sales and a Microsoft Flight Simulator update that might interest UK-based players.
In Show And Tell, Matthew and Colm chat about Zelda-like, Immortals: Fenyx Rising. Ubisoft’s latest open world game doesn’t hit the heights Matthew wants from something that feels so inspired by Breath Of The Wild, but both still agree that they want to see more games like it.
In tribute to our American cousins and their recent celebration of food and drink, Mystery Steam Reviews centres on video games that have a large food and/or drink element. Naturally enough, things get a little heated. And we open The Weekspot mailbag in Burning Questions.
Our little show began life as a weekly YouTube livestream, so some things may be lost in the audio version of this The PC Gaming Weekspot episode, but we hope you still enjoy it!

01 Jun 2021 | Oh, You’re My Best Friend (SteamPal, Dying Light 2: Stay Human, Final Fantasy Origin) | 02:00:33
Many have tried to muscle in on the Nintendo-controlled market of video games, but smaller. And, if the rumours are to be believed, Valve are gearing up to be the latest to give it a go.
As we enter E3 season, Headlines & Hot Takes gets beefier and beefier. But, yes, we start off discussing the recent rumblings that there's a Switch-like handheld called Steampal coming from Valve. We also discuss last week's reintroduction of Dying Light 2, during the brilliantly named Dying 2 Know presentation. And we chat a bit about Final Fantasy Origin, the FF spinoff that's supposedly in the works at Team Ninja.
We recorded this a little ahead of time, because of the UK bank holiday, so neither of us had loads of time to play games for Show and Tell. But, I gave Erica – the FMV game that first launched on PlayStation in 2019 – a go, I and wasn't overly impressed. I have a fondness for FMV games, but this one didn't hit the mark. Meanwhile, Matthew played through the beautifully grim point-and-click adventure game Strangeland.
This week's Mystery Steam Reviews is all about games RPS awarded with a Bestest Best. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on interviewees, rage-quitting and summer plans.

12 Jan 2021 | Travel, Agent (Hitman 3, Super Meat Boy Forever, Harvey Smith’s new game) | 01:35:27
The tree is in the attic, there isn’t a scrap of chocolate left in the house, and those that took annual leave at the start of the year — the people we were all jealous of — are now back. 2021 is well and truly underway. Well... sort of.
Video game news is still warming up, so Headlines and Hot Takes isn’t packed with massive stories or anything, but we do have a few things to talk about. Deus Ex lead designer Harvey Smith is working on a new game, so we discuss whether that could be a new Dishonored or something entirely different. Also, it may be nothing, but there’s a rumour floating around that Ubisoft Plus is coming to Xbox Game Pass. And we were obviously going to give that a mention.
In Show and Tell, Matthew comes with opinions on Hitman 3 after getting his hands on a preview build. He hasn’t been able to play the whole thing yet, but the first two levels have given him a hankering for more murderings. Meanwhile, Colm’s been playing Super Meat Boy Forever, and now he just wants Super Meat Boy 2.
Agent 47 is arguably the greatest bald protagonist in all of video games, but there are a few others. So, for this week’s Mystery Steam Reviews, we’re looking at games that have hairless, playable characters. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag and answering your Burning Questions.

06 Apr 2021 | Nier, There, Cyberwares (Nier Replicant Preview, Cyberpunk 2077 Multiplayer Cancelled, Monster Hunter Rise) | 01:40:00
This is a slightly different episode of The Weekspot. We had to record a little earlier because of the Easter weekend in the UK, and Matthew wasn’t able to come on because of prior commitments.
So, instead of talking to himself for an hour and a half, Colm drafted in two lovely guests: Josh Wise of VideoGamer and Rich Walker of Xbox Achievements.
It’s good he was able to call on some old pals, too, because a surprising number of things happened between last week’s episode and recording this one. Headlines & Hot Takes is full of Cyberpunk 2077 (remember that?) and Witcher chat, as CD Projekt Red published a big strategy presentation video, last week. And, the boys chat about the possibility of Alan Wake 2 after some rumours popped up online in the past few days. Also, they obviously had to celebrate the recent World Backup Day in Tech Corner.
Given the fact Colm had no time to play new games for today’s show, he was extra delighted to have Josh and Rich on. Show and Tell is all them. Firstly, Josh was able to play the first 10 hours of the upcoming Nier Replicant, so he outlines how that one is shaping up. And, while we’re bending the rules a little here, Josh recently played Monster Hunter Rise on Switch, so he gives PC players an idea of what they can expect in 12 months. Also, the two guests couldn’t contain their disgust, so there’s more Balan Wonderworld chat on this week’s show.
With an extra body on the pod, Colm decided to play quizmaster for a special remix edition of Mystery Steam Reviews. And they round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on forgettable games they played for a very long time and Easter eggs.

28 Sep 2021 | Eye And Mighty (Outer Wilds: Echoes Of The Eye Review, Sable Review) | 01:38:28
So, the main point of discussion on this week's podcast is the Outer Wilds: Echoes Of The Eye DLC. Talking about it is tricky, because saying pretty much anything about it feels spoiler-y. Christ, I'm trying to be careful writing this blurb in case I say something that I shouldn't. But, somehow, I think we managed to talk about it, without talking about it. Know what I mean?
We're thankful for the Outer Wilds DLC, because it sure was a quiet news week. There's a bit of chatter on the Deathloop stuttering issues, and whether Titanfall 3 will be a thing or not, but it's all a bit muted until the Donkey Konga bongos are brought up, really.
So, Matthew's put a decent few hours into the Echoes Of The Eye DLC, and as already referenced, is able to tell me what he thought of it without telling me much about the game. In return, I tell him about my time with the very stylish Sable.
This week's Mystery Steam Reviews focuses on video game spinoffs. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on microtransactions, critically acclaimed games we don’t like, and the best biscuits.

23 Feb 2021 | Dodgeball Guys (Knockout City, Silent Hill, Hellish Quart) | 01:34:53
Like a lot of people, Colm saw that announcement trailer for Knockout City last week and thought, "that seems like a game I will never play, but I hope the people that do end up getting it have a lovely time with it." Then he ended up playing this past weekend's beta for about three hours.
But, before we get onto the topic of EA's play for the Rocket League crowd, Headlines and Hot Takes is full of chat on all the Silent Hill rumours that have been floating around. Some folks seem to think that The Medium developer Bloober Team might be cooking up a new Silent Hill, while others are a bit more sceptical. Also, this week's Tech Corner features some discussion on actual tech, as Nvidia have said they're releasing graphics cards for cryptoboys and girls. Wild.
Show and Tell has loads of talk on both the surprising quality and accessibility of EA's new dodgeball game, Knockout City, as well as whether or not it will be able to squeeze itself into an already crowded market. Meanwhile, Matthew's been swiping swords into the faces of others in Hellish Quart, which recently launched on Steam early access.
Mystery Steam Reviews is all about horses, this week. Horses you can mount, horses you can shoot, horses you can befriend. Just horses. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on crime fiction and eggs.

23 Mar 2021 | Night Knights (Gotham Knights Delayed, Square Enix Presents Recap) | 01:51:13
Warner Bros haven’t specified why they’ve decided to delay their co-op Arkham-like, Gotham Knights, but I’m sure a global pandemic didn’t help development.
With this in mind, a chunk of Headlines & Hot Takes is dedicated to discussing some games that have suffered COVID delays, and there’s some speculation on what games may see their launch dates moved into next year and beyond. Also, we recap a relatively mediocre Square Enix Presents that gave us a look at Life Is Strange: True Colors and Forspoken. Also, in Tech Corner, we chat about paying for things after they’ve increased in price.
A quiet March has given us some time to go back and play some smaller indies for Show and Tell. I’d heard a bit of buzz about Everhood – some said it was a Guitar Hero and Undertale hybrid – but after playing it I wasn’t overly impressed. Blind Drive, however, is a nice audio-based game I’d recommend to those who enjoy that sort of thing. Meanwhile, Matthew wasn’t totally taken by the discussion between a pig farmer and a hitman in Adios.
While last week’s Mystery Steam Reviews still lingers, this week’s edition focuses on games with a Metacritic score of 60 or lower. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on hardware, clunky game design and hot drinks.

10 Aug 2020 | #02: Robots And Fall Guys | 02:06:51
Welcome to The PC Gaming Weekspot, Rock Paper Shotgun’s weekly recap on the last seven days in PC video gaming.
In Headlines and Hot Takes, we discuss all the news coming out of Cyberpunk 2077 Night City Wire episode 2, the Baldur's Gate 3 delay, Rocksteady revealing their next game (which may be a Suicide Squad game) via a Superman image on Twitter, Activision using Call of Duty Warzone to potentially announce Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and much, much more.
As well as that, in Show and Tell, Colm talks about murdering machines in Horizon Zero Dawn, Matthew chats about new FMV game Death Come True, and both Weekspot boys have thoughts on the phenomenon that is Fall Guys.
Plus, everyone's favourite quiz, Mystery Steam Reviews, returns, and we take Burning Questions from the live chat. And, of course, a big interview at the end of the show...
Our little show began life as a weekly YouTube livestream, so some things may be lost in the audio version of this The PC Gaming Weekspot episode, but we hope you still enjoy it!

16 Feb 2021 | Rule Of E3 (E3 2021, Little Nightmares 2 Review, Six Days In Fallujah) | 01:36:26
Developers and publishers adapted last year. Instead of announcing their games on a big stage, they turned to Zoom calls. In lieu of an all-encompassing mega event, some decided to highlight their wares on their own special livestreams. So, is E3 pointless in 2021?
Headlines and Hot Takes is full of chat on the ESA's rumoured plans for E3 2021. EA, Microsoft and everyone in between were able to peddle whatever they needed to last summer, so we discuss whether E3 serves a purpose while we're all indoors. Also, 12 years after it was first binned, the controversial Six Days In Fallujah is coming back in the form of an FPS. A far less sticky Tech Corner is able to lighten the mood as we end up chatting about Valentine's gifts.
Show and Tell has some conversation on terrifying adults, like stretchy-necked teachers and wall-walking doctors. While the trial-and-error nature of Little Nightmares 2 can be a bit of a pain, the atmosphere is a delight. Because we're in a quieter period, Matthew's taken this opportunity to go back and play Astrologaster, which he missed when it was first released.
Mystery Steam Reviews revolves around video games with famous people in them. But, not just their voices; we focused on those games that feature blemish-free celeb heads, too. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on cloud gaming and the live-action Tetris film.

04 May 2021 | Stir Of Echoes (Outer Wilds DLC Leak, Insurmountable Review, Microsoft Store News) | 01:54:24
I don't need to remind you how good Outer Wilds is. Two years ago, everyone was raving about the 22-minute time loop. The most incredible video games website in the world even declared it the bestest best game of the year.
So, of course, Headlines & Hot Takes was full of chat on what exactly the rumoured Outer Wilds DLC might turn out to be. If Echoes Of The Eye is happening, it's fair to say that anything we can dream up will pale in comparison to what the big brains at Mobius Digital make. As well as that, we chat about Microsoft's aim to deliver a top-tier PC version of Halo Infinite and their plans to give developers a larger take of games sold on the Microsoft Store. And Tech Corner obviously focuses on Sega's choice to get into the NFT game.
Insurmountable isn't an indie Death Stranding. But, as you'll hear during Show and Tell, Matthew thinks this flavour of mountain climbing is a hoot, too. in the past week my co-host also found some time to check out android interrogation game Silicon Dreams. This week, my offering for the S & T table is the new OlliOlli-ish skateboarding game Skate City.
This week's Mystery Steam Reviews is the very wishy-washy theme of games that are spiritual successors. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on the next James Bond, hats, and games we regret never finishing.

26 Jan 2021 | My Fair Vampire Lady (Resident Evil Village, RE: Verse) | 01:49:08
The Tetris-style inventory system is coming back; you’re able to craft items, as well as buy and sell them; and you can block attacks from those nasty sword-wielding zombie lads. I almost forgot to mention the giant vampire woman that everyone is super horny for. She’s here too.
Headlines and Hot Takes is dominated by Resi, as Capcom dropped a ton of Resident Evil Village info on us last week. Also, slightly less exciting than that — and a bit perplexing — we got the announcement of RE: Verse, which is a multiplayer game that appears to strip out all the best parts of the series. And, rounding out the Resident Evil news blast, development on the unannounced Resident Evil 4 remake has been a tad turbulent. Even with all this Resi-flavoured chat, there’s always time for a bit of Tech Corner! Especially when it's about shoes.
We’re being a teeny bit cheaty on this week’s Show and Tell, as Matthew’s bringing a PS5 demo to the table. In our defence, it is the Resident Evil Village demo, so it’s good to get an idea of what’s in store for PC players. Meanwhile, Colm’s been playing two wildly different games: Cyber Shadow (a 2D action-platformer in the vein of Ninja Gaiden) and Nuts (a first-person squirrel surveillance game) Variety is the spice of life and all that.
I’m sure you’ve heard, but if you haven’t: America has a new commander-in-chief now. To mark this occasion, this week’s Mystery Steam Reviews is all about video games that feature real and fictional U.S. presidents. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on esports, speedrunning and DLC.

27 Jul 2021 | Necromorph Code (Dead Space Remake, The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles Review, The Forgotten City Review) | 02:01:03
Everyone knew it was coming, dulling the surprise somewhat, but it’s still pretty cool to get confirmation of a Dead Space remake. Well, we've decided that it’ll be good if EA takes a page out of Capcom’s book and goes the Resi route with its Isaac Clarke revival.
EA Play Live 2021 didn’t have much apart from EA Motive’s new game, really. The Dead Space 202? speculation dominates this week’s Headline & Hot Takes. We still make time to talk about PES (now eFootball) going free-to-play and whether we might see more games going this route. And Tech Corner has some Steam Deck chat… it will likely be Steam Deck Corner until December, in truth.
It’s a big Show and Tell, as Matthew’s most anticipated game of 2021 is here: The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles. While his preview from a few weeks ago probably gave you a decent indication as to his thoughts, you get to hear him praise the latest entry in the series on this week’s show. Meanwhile, I’ve been playing the delightful time loop detective game, The Forgotten City.
This week's Mystery Steam Reviews is all about video games that break the fourth wall. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on mansions, game announcements, and reunions.

08 Jun 2021 | Let It E3 (E3 2021 Predictions: Xbox, Bethesda, Ubisoft, Square Enix And More) | 01:53:40
Yes, it’s that time of the year when everyone speculates wildly about what kind of products companies will peddle to potential customers during livestreams rife with forced banter and lols. E3 is exciting, isn’t it?
We’re only a few days from the beginning of the festivities, so of course E3 2021 dominates this week’s edition of Headlines & Hot Takes. We break down all of the scheduled press conferences / media briefings / snazzy advertisements and what we might see at each of them. Microsoft need to go big with Halo Infinite to wash away the memory of Craig, it’d be lovely to get some gameplay of Starfield, Eidos is apparently set to reveal a Guardians of The Galaxy game: there’s a lot discussed on this week’s show, so get it listened.
This week's Mystery Steam Reviews is all about games set on spaceships, space stations, space bases and all sorts of space buildings. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on Resident Evil Village’s funniness and the origins of usernames.

01 Sep 2020 | #05: Lay Of The Wasteland | 02:04:13
Welcome to The PC Gaming Weekspot, Rock Paper Shotgun’s weekly recap on the last seven days in PC video gaming.
In Headlines and Hot Takes, we discuss the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War reveal and everything that came with that, a Left 4 Dead 2 update (yeah), Netflix's Resident Evil TV show that focuses on the Wesker kids and loads more.
In Show and Tell, Matthew goes deep on Wasteland 3, and gives his thoughts on the first episode of Tell Me Why. Meanwhile, Colm chats about one of his favourite games of the year, Spiritfarer.
On top of that we’ve got Mystery Steam Reviews, Burning Questions and a huge interview at the end of the show… fingers crossed...

17 Aug 2021 | Joy Parisian (Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: The Siege Of Paris Review, Road 96 Review, Alan Wake 2) | 01:44:13
Yes, another Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla DLC has been released. And, again, it’s a tad like the base game. But, not totally, because Ubisoft have remembered to put some sneaking in this one. It still has a pebble-stacking minigame, though. You can’t have it all, I guess.
Apart from The Siege Of Paris launch, the past seven days have been relatively quiet, all things considered. There has been rumblings of a few things – and we love to speculate as much as the next person working in games media – but it’s all been a little wishy-washy. So, this week, the line between info snack and headline meal prepared by Huw is effectively transparent. We chat a bit about Alan Wake 2, Stringer Bell as Knuckles, the GTA remasters, and more.
As mentioned above, Assassin’s Creed: The Siege Of Paris is the main event on this week’s show. Matthew’s a bit conflicted on it, as it shows promise in some Hitman-like missions, and the villain is decent too, but it’s still ultimately more Valhalla. Meanwhile, I’ve played through the enjoyable Road 96. I went into it thinking the procedural-generation was ambitious, and I’ve come out the other end thinking the game would be far less interesting if the story was told in sequence.
This week's Mystery Steam Reviews is all about video games that have other real video games in them. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on the best campaigns, strategy games on Steam Deck, and our beef with Company Of Heroes 2.

30 Mar 2021 | America's Next Co-op Model (It Takes Two Review, Narita Boy Review, Crash Bandicoot 4, Balan Wonderworld) | 01:59:00
Dr. Hakim gives books a bad name, and the story is quite muddled in places, but It Takes Two is easily one of the best co-op games of the last few years. Probably the last ever years, really.
We owe a great deal of thanks to Hazelight Studios for launching their latest co-op adventure on Friday, because we wouldn't have much to talk about, without it. While our Headlines & Hot Takes are lacking a bit of oomph this week, we did still find some cool-looking indie games that were announced at both the Future Games Show and the id@Xbox showcases. And, Razer are making a silly facemask, and that allowed us to talk about Bane for a bit, so that was nice.
But, this week's podcast is most definitely dominated by Show and Tell. Firstly, I played through the aforementioned It Takes Two, and spoke to Matthew about the incredible creativity in the game. I also got to chat about my feelings for the pretty mediocre Crash Bandicoot 4. Matthew's been enjoying the stylish and substantive Narita Boy, so he brings that to the table. He also chats about the oddity that is Balan Wonderworld.
Shhhh... this week's Mystery Steam Reviews focuses on video games that feature silent protagonists. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on games that we keep restarting and underserved genres.

06 Oct 2020 | #08: Open The Baldur’s Gate | 01:58:16
Welcome to The PC Gaming Weekspot, Rock Paper Shotgun’s weekly recap on the last seven days in PC video gaming.
In Headlines and Hot Takes, we discuss everyone at CD Projekt Red crunching to get Cyberpunk 2077 done, Amazon Luna - the latest cloud-gaming service - has been announced, and The Weekspot Boys return to tech corner to discuss – in-depth, no doubt – Nvidia delaying the launch of the RTX 3070.
Matthew’s been playing his most-anticipated game of the year, Baldur’s Gate 3, and has been loving the mix of Divinity: Original Sin systems and BioWare storytelling, while Colm’s found a roguelite he can fall in love with in the excellent Hades. His feelings on Spelunky 2 aren’t quite as strong, but that’s down the quality of his playing, not the quality of the game.
On top of that we’ve got Mystery Steam Reviews, Burning Questions, and the biggest interview in PC games is definitely going to happen.100 percent… if Steven’s internet holds up.

21 Sep 2020 | #07: Microsoft: The New Colossus | 02:05:06
Welcome to The PC Gaming Weekspot, Rock Paper Shotgun’s weekly recap on the last seven days in PC video gaming.
In Headlines and Hot Takes, we discuss Microsoft buying Bethesda, Final Fantasy 16 and the fact that it might be coming to PC, Hogwarts Legacy and author JK Rowling involvement, Cyberpunk 2077 being shorter than The Witcher 3, The Prince Of Persia remake and much more!
In Show and Tell, Matthew chats about the few hours he got to play of Immortals: Fenyx Rising, while Colm’s been playing detective in Paradise Killer. Oh, and WWE 2K Battlegrounds isn’t great. Yep.
On top of that we’ve got Mystery Steam Reviews, Burning Questions, and everything is set for The Weekspot's biggest ever interview... definitely, this week.

13 Apr 2021 | Enoch Great, Enoch Terrible (Outriders Review, Oddworld: Soulstorm Review, Resident Evil Village) | 01:50:39
Ever since the demo failed to wow people back in February, it was pretty clear that Outriders had a ceiling. Not an outrageously low ceiling, but a ceiling nonetheless. Still, even with launch issues a lack of anything extraordinary, it's actually a pretty decent video game.
But, before myself and Matthew spoke about the surprisingly popular third-person shooter on this week's Weekspot, we discussed all the news of the last seven days in Headlines & Hot Takes. It was a bitty week for news, but we did find time to chat about the upcoming Resident Evil Village showcase and the recent reveal of some locations in the game. We also discussed IO Interactive's mysterious third project and what's next for Ian Hitman. Of course, we chatted about the fact there are graphics cards smugglers now, too.
Show and Tell is full of chat on the aforementioned Outriders, and how it does a lot of things quite well without being incredible. Also, I've put a decent amount of time into Oddworld: Soulstorm, so I tell Matthew about how the modernisation of Abe doesn't include farting. And there's a little bit of time at the end to tell my co-host about all those times I told people to piss off in Say No! More.
This week's Mystery Steam Reviews answers the age-old question: New York or Mars. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on holidays and ini files.

14 Sep 2021 | In The Loop (Deathloop Impressions, The Artful Escape Review, PC at PlayStation Showcase 2021) | 01:32:12
Yes, we all know the game has a very cool look, and all of us enjoy playing a good time loop game, but what actually is Deathloop? Thankfully, Matthew's played the first few hours and is here to enlighten both you and I.
But, before we chat about Colt Vahn's day, we get into the biggest news stories over the last week. The most notable thing, really, is that there was a PlayStation Showcase filled with lovely PC-related tidbits. We're getting a KOTOR remake, Forspoken seems decent, and the two most recent Uncharted games are on their way to PC. Also, Alan Wake Remastered is out quite soon. That's nice.
Deathloop dominates chat in this week's Show and Tell. While Matthew hasn't played through the game yet – the two of us will be playing it over the next week – he's really enjoyed his first few hours. A lot more stealthy sneakiness in this one than the trailers let on. Matthew also goes through his thoughts on musical platformer The Artful Escape, and I chat a bit about my time with pleasant photography game Toem.
No Mystery Steam Reviews this week sadly as the recording went haywire, but we'll have a make good next week. And we round out the show by opening The Weekspot mailbag to answer your Burning Questions on video game soundtracks, Half-Life 3, and Sir David Attenborough.

09 Nov 2020 | #13: The Valhalla Effect | 02:05:54
Welcome to The PC Gaming Weekspot, Rock Paper Shotgun’s weekly recap on the last seven days in PC video games.
In Headlines and Hot Takes, we discuss the Mass Effect 4 (?) announcement from BioWare, EA saying that Battlefield is coming back next year, and we discuss what the launches of the PS5 and Xbox Series X could mean for PC.
In Show And Tell, Matthew going in on his time with one of 2020’s most anticipated viking simulators, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Castle has been a busy boy this week, as he’s also been playing Colm’s most anticipated game of 2020, Yakuza: Like A Dragon. Thankfully – because he’d burst, otherwise – Colm’s also been playing it, so the two compare notes on the JRPG. And, to top it all off, Colm’s been feeding Bugsnax to strangers in the weird and wonderful new game from developer Young Horses.
As well as that, we’ve got a controversial Mystery Steam Reviews for you, as MSR centres on games set in the United Kingdom. And we open The Weekspot mailbag in Burning Questions.

24 Aug 2020 | #04: Suicide Squad Goals | 02:11:41
Welcome to The PC Gaming Weekspot, Rock Paper Shotgun’s weekly recap on the last seven days in PC video gaming.
In Headlines and Hot Takes, we discuss the Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League trailer, what we expect from Gotham Knights after seeing the Gotham Knights trailer, the narrative lead on Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 being fired, a Baldur's Gate 3 release date and loads more!
As well as that, in Show and Tell, Matthew’s jumped into the recently Early Access’d Rogue Legacy 2, while Colm’s been giving the new Battletoads a go.
Also, Matthew is looking for a big win in Mystery Steam Reviews, and we’ve got a HUGE interview at the end of the show… hopefully...
Our little show began life as a weekly YouTube livestream, so some things may be lost in the audio version of this The PC Gaming Weekspot episode, but we hope you still enjoy it!
