The Other Half (The Other Half)

Underworld: Rise of the Lycans fills us in on all the important little details that were set up in the first Underworld movie. It suffers ALL of the issues that come with prequels. Every single one. This is why people are skeptical when prequels are announced. We don't want to see backstories about something we heard in passing during a previous movie. We want to see NEW ideas and places where the franchise should go. We know how each character's arc ends! In fact, in this movie, they just recreate a flashback from the first movie and do it wrong. This angers me. (Ethan) Is this enough to halt the progress of the Underworld movies? Are we at the "can't" part of Watch Till You Can't?

Hellraiser: Inferno brings Hellraiser back to its roots, by keeping Pinhead as a little treat instead of the main course. Instead, they feed you a budget version of Seven. Directed by the same director as Sinister and Dr. Strange, Scott Derrickson, Hellraiser: Inferno doesn't quite feel like a Hellraiser movie. All of the pieces to a great movie are there, but unfortunately, it doesn't seem like anyone knows how to put them together.

We're starting Spooktacular month with a throwback, Who Slew Auntie Roo? A horrifying spin on Hansel and Gretel, where the witch is just a sad American lady who is extremely lonely.

Pinhead was upset we didn't have an opinion on the meme Pinocchio movie, so we had to watch Pinocchio: A True Story to be released from the cenobite's grasp. Unfortunately, we may just want to go back in because this is truly one of the worst movies. Even Pauly Shore and Jon Header can't save what is clearly a mess of the script. Also, they literally took out all the good parts of Pinocchio!! There's NO WHALE OR PLEASURE ISLAND?! Why even bother?

In this sequel month episode, we check out another reboot from the '80s, Top Gun: Maverick! This is the last episode so we hope Tom Cruise isn't a little stinker and ruins the movie! Well, I already know the answer because I am writing this after I edited the podcast, but you, my dear listener, have to listen to find out!

For Sylvester Stallone's birthday, we went Over The Top and watched a movie that even he hates! How could it be bad? It's the most manly movie around! It's all about arm wrestling, driving your truck, and being a pretty bad dad! Can we get a heck yeah for Sylvester Stallone only agreeing to be in this movie for the money and the fact that "no one will see it anyway"? Looks like you were wrong Mr. Stallone!

The sixth entry in the Leprechaun series and technically a sequel to Leprechaun in the Hood, Back 2 tha Hood takes a much more serious tone than its predecessor. Weirdly enough it may have the best acting in the entire series. But is it enough to balance the total shift the movie makes?

Mr. police I gave you all the clues! The Snowman is a movie set in Norway about Micheal Fassbender having one of the most bully-able names in human history while also trying to solve murders. This movie has so many scenes in it where it just doesn't make a lick of sense. It's one of the weirdest bad movies we've seen in quite some time.

The Meg is here to continue our train of summer-vibe horror movies! Jason Statham stars in this massive blockbuster hit from 2018. Some people are here just to watch big sharks eat things, and nothing is bigger than a Megladon. Is this blockbuster worth the hype? Or is it just more chum that Hollywood is releasing to the masses?

The movie is set in a future where the polar ice caps have melted, covering the Earth in water and leaving humanity to struggle for survival in makeshift floating communities. Dryland is what they're searching for and Denis Hopper's villainous character, Deacon, is obsessed with finding it. Does this movie sink or swim all these years later?

Tommy is THE pinball wizard, that people somehow devote their lives to worshiping. This is probably the first musical we watched based on a band and what better choice than The Who. Like most things from the 1970s, certain aspects of this movie don't age well. But holy cow is it a sight to behold. We're going to be explaining some things in this episode that honestly don't make much sense, but in the moment of the movie, it feels completely natural. Sort of.

In this sequel month episode, it's time to take on David Fincher's first movie, Alien³! This is the controversial Alien movie that some people love while others despise. Where do we fall on this film? David Fincher hated working on this movie, but he does make a few wild choices with the character Ripley. There's only one way to find out if this film can be saved.

The Head Hunter starts off our Halloween Spooktacular! A quiet minimalist horror movie epic fantasy that is absolutely dripping in atmosphere. The reason it's minimalist is that its budget is almost as tiny as Paranormal Activity. Grab a hot cup of cocoa and turn down the lights as the boys describe a horror movie from the same director as Thankskilling.

The Worst Person in the World follows Julie, who is having a quarterish life crisis. She hasn't found what she wants out of her life! Maybe it will take some people in her life to help her understand what it is she truly wants. Then she won't exactly be the worst person in the world anymore. Renate Reinsve, who plays our titular character, won some awards for best actress, and the movie itself was nominated for best screenplay at the Oscars.

No other movie we've watched for Streisand on the Beach was on the Criterion channel until Funny Girl! This is the big movie. Streisand's breakout moment. She stars as a woman who wants to be a singer and a comedian! But back in the '20s, women were only supposed to look a certain way and be pretty. She does it, though, with the help of her friend and potential lover, Omar Sharif. I don't feel like I'm selling you on this movie, but Barbera has unbelievable charisma in this movie, which is impossible to describe.

Meet The Deedles is a movie about two white surfer dudes (Paul Walker and the guy who voices Maxi in Soul Calibur 6) from Hawaii who find themselves as park rangers for Yellowstone! Okay so Lerepchaun: Origins we somehow missed. We apologize for this error and we're being punished for it by actually watching this abomination of a movie. Someone thought it would be cool to reboot the franchise and remove all personality from the Leprechaun and make his design so bad that he could be a monster in any other movie you've ever heard of. This is a seriously upsetting movie from a quality perspective. This may be the final episode of our podcast at this rate.

You can't stop us. This is now a Pinocchio-only podcast! Not really, but after seeing so many high-quality movies we had to get into the muck of Drew Carey's Geppetto. This episode turned out to be more of nostalgia-filled ones where we talked about commercials from the '90s for an exceptionally long time.

"Practical Magic" is a 1998 film that is a blend of romantic comedy and magic! The plot centers around the Owens sisters, Sally and Gillian, who come from a long line of witches with a family curse that causes any man who falls in love with an Owens woman to meet an untimely death. Things get wacky! But the question is, what's the most practical form of magic? Is it using a spoon to stir your coffee? Or using magic to revive your toxic ex instead of just getting rid of the body?

We bring Summer Screaming to a close with Lake Placid. It's a movie about a giant crocodile that made it to Maine. It's a miracle of nature! But it did kill some people, so maybe they should kill it. Or capture it to study it! Either way, this weird little cast of characters will all come together and deal with the aftermath of what Betty White has caused. Yes, that's right, Betty White and crocodiles. How could this movie not kick ass?

What's the Matter with Helen is a horror exploitation movie set around two moms who are trying to escape from their murderous son's past. Shelly of course plays a conservative woman while Debbie Reynolds plays someone willing to change themselves completely to have a leg up on life. Ethan and Mike even bring the cosplay out for this special episode!

Did you know two horror movies with the same premise and name were released two years apart? That's right, Speak No Evil, whose trailer has greeted movie theaters for most of 2024, was based on a Danish film of the same name. We had to know what changes were made between the two, so naturally, we watched two halves of the movie each! So, we know the whole story regardless of whether it was intended for a European or American audience. This is easily our longest podcast yet, but you get the plot of two movies for the price of one podcast! What a deal.

Honestly, we had a fantastic time recording this, and maybe we'll do it again in the future. I hope you enjoy it, listener!

So in a drunken rage, he starts writing a book that goes against everything he believes in while using a fake name. The book sells like crazy and hilarity ensues! A strange Oscar movie choice, but hey it calls out previous Oscar winner Green Book so maybe the nomination is another attempt to say the Oscars are not that white after all.

Whew, we're back with Leprechaun 2! What will the sequel hold? Is this even the same Leprechaun? There's no star power in this, so here's hoping this lives up to the original. Also, this was the last Leprechaun movie released in theaters. That doesn't quite bode well. Hopefully, we get some good rhyming in it though!

Cocktail is all about showmanship and being a flashy bartender. It doesn't matter if your drinks taste terrible; people love the pizzaz! Tom Cruise brings the pizzaz in one of his earliest roles. We had expectations for what this movie would be about, and let me tell you in advance, it is not what we thought it would be. There's a lot less talk about cocktails than we hope there will be. Regardless, it was a huge hit when it was released in 1988!

The boys continue the Underworld franchise with Underworld: Evolution. In this sequel, we get to learn what became of Micheal and Selene who need to tell the original vampire about Kraven's treachery! At least that's how the movie starts out. From there it's a mess of events that just keep on happening. "Needlessly complicated" as Mike would put it.

The Spooktacular season returns with The Watchers. It's time for M Night Shyamalan's daughter, Ishana, to direct a movie featuring Dakota Fanning! Would she craft her horror style, or will it fall into the same trappings as her father? The movie revolves around a forest in Ireland where no one can escape. Yet the watchers are always observing the people inside of a box every single night. Who are they, and what do they want? And most importantly, will there be a major twist?!

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is our first, and probably last, Indiana Jones movie for the podcast! Harrison Ford, once again, picks up that whip and starts fighting Nazis all over again. Turns out you can't keep Nazis down. Joined by his goddaughter, Wombat, Indy gets sad about his old-man-life and goes on one final quest for the final piece of the Dial of Destiny! What does the dial of destiny do? Does it summon aliens again? You'll have to listen to this episode or watch the movie to find out!

What's Christmas without a romantic comedy? Well, how about one with a premise so stupid I guarantee you won't be able to figure it out until you listen to our podcast. Enter No Sleep 'Till Christmas. The surest sign that Christmas movies are absolutely running out of ideas. At least the two leads have some chemistry. Perhaps it's because they're married? Now if only they could be in slightly better movies.

Violent Night is the first action movie that no one can argue if it's a Christmas movie or not! Starring David Harbour as the real Santa, John Leguizamo and his criminal friends try to rob a rich family of their Christmas and their money. And they may have gotten away with it if they didn't happen to plan the heist on Christmas Eve when Santa may have been around. A Violent Night follows indeed.

We're watching The Fugitive for the podcast, but you don't care. This blockbuster hit movie starring Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones is a classic in American cinema, but does the movie from 1993 hold up? Or should we not care about it anymore?

The Adventures of Pinocchio is one of the many adaptations of the story of Pinocchio, which is also called The Adventures of Pinocchio. This adaptation though has the power of Jim Henson's creature shop to bring our favorite little boy to life. They never asked if they should have a complicated animatronic puppet as it's perhaps one of the most nightmare-inducing parts of the movie. That being said, the sets in the movie are immaculate...until they're not.

What's a better movie to add to the Spooktacular list than a movie about a haunted pool? Night Swim follows a family who just recently bought a house with a brand-new pool. The dad is suffering from MS, but with the miracle of swimming, his disease is basically gone! But then scary things start happening. Creepy dudes start appearing in the water, scaring the two children of the family. Will the children be able to alert their family to the dangers of swimming without a lifeguard?

For our final Bombs Away, we're checking out Ryan Renold's movie Green Lantern. Don't worry we love comic books and will respect the source material as best as we can. This movie came out right before DC decided they wanted an extended universe of their own so it sits in kind of a weird timeline among WB's slate of superhero films. Ryan Renolds is Hal Jordan, a talented but reckless test pilot who is chosen by a dying alien named Abin Sur to inherit his ring and become a Green Lantern. None of the other Green Lanterns like him. The cast also includes Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, Mark Strong, Angela Bassett, and Tim Robbins. 

FLASH! UUUUHHHH! It's time to watch pivotal Sci-Fi movie Flash Gordon! For better or for worse, they don't make them like they used to. Much to Ethan's surprise, Flash Gordon doesn't have any super powers. He just happens to be in space from Earth! That's wild. Did you know they based Star Wars off of this stuff?!

It sounds like 80 for Brady is right up Ethan's alley. Ethan is satisfied with just an all-star cast of comedic women actors thirsting for Tom Brady in a movie that Tom Brady produced. This follows four ladies, most of whom are over 80, trying to find a way to make it to the Super Bowl. It's a cozy movie! Only one of them has any significant problems they have to work through, and in the end, is it even a problem?

The cover and the trailer seem quirky, but Blow Dry is a serious movie about a silly hair-styling competition. Alan Rickman stars as Phil, a distant dad to Josh Hartnett, who looks like he's from Dumb and Dumber. He returns to town for a massive hair competition that his ex-wife Shelly, played by the late Natasha Richardson, is entering. Shelly faces fierce rivalry from Bill Neighy, who has a daughter played by Rachael Leigh Cook. He wants to win, so he plays dirty! Also, Shelly previously ran away from her marriage with Phil to be with her hair model, Sandra. What shenanigans! Oh, but Shelly has cancer, and that's no laughing matter.

Leprechaun 4: In Space actually may have broken us. Just like NASA, the budget is gone. There are people you recognize, but no one you love. Everyone is just a little bit horny. They've given up on the Leprechaun costume. Things are looking dire for this franchise. Sometimes movie franchises can have a correction period, let's see if the boys decide it's worth riding this franchise out until the end.

Mike and Ethan meet with Bloody Mama, also known as Ma Barker a real-life crime lord! Ethan wants out immediately, but Mike is sympathetic to Ma and her boys. Ma Barker loved her boys maybe a little too much and they all became psychopaths and wreaked havoc on whatever local communities were nearby. Will this crime family have a happy ending?

Shelly Winters plays Ma Barker. She originally played a parody of Ma Barker in Batman 1966. She was known as Ma Parker and also toted a machine gun. This may have gotten her this role.

Anyway here's the first shot of Shelly Winters as Ma Barker. It sets the scene for the rest of this movie.

Guarding Tess was recommended by Pedro Pascal's character in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. "In the Nic of Time" continues with Nic Cage guarding an ex-first first lady named Tess. It's an odd movie all about the dynamic between secret service agents and ex-politicians. Is it as good as Pedro Pascal says it is?

Rocky V is the last Rocky movie before a long break in the series. It's an odd way to end the series. In this movie, Rocky takes Mick's place and starts training Tommy Gunn, who starts doing really well at boxing! He is so proud of him that he forgot to talk to his very own son! Rocky wants to get back out there. But he's too old. So now it's time to live vicariously through a guy with a mullet. Meanwhile, his son is trying to hitchhike to the weird store while smoking cigarettes with his bullies.

The boys ring in a new year with the New Year movie, Holiday! Starring Katherine Hepburn and Carey Grant, Johnny and Julia meet on a holiday in Lake Placid and fall quickly in love. They get engaged, much to the delight of Julia's family! However, when he meets them for the first time, things get weird when Julia's sister, Linda, starts revealing her worldview more aligns with Johnny's while Julia and Johnny don't quite mesh. But they're in love so they're going to find a way to make it work! Also, a surprising lack of holidays are present for a movie titled Holiday.

St. Elmo's Fire is about a group of friends navigating adulthood after college. It's a shame all of the men are trash people. Joel Schumacher directs a box office hit that didn't land with critics, but maybe after all these years, it will have aged better than you expect. It is from the '80s after all!

Hachi: A Dog's Tale never was released in American theaters, but was instead relegated to the Hallmark channel because of how sad the movie is. Richard Gere got the deal of a lifetime when he made a movie all about playing with a cute dog! He doesn't even really have to act much. Other people are in it too including Jason Alexander and three different dogs. Three different dogs play Hachi in the many stages of this dog's tale. Also, A Dog's Tale is way better than the title "A Dog's Purpose", because of the excellent pun.

Michael Bay is getting back to his bad-boy roots with Ambulance. No wildly-looking transformers here. It's about driving around L.A. with two criminals who stole a hospital (ambulance) and simultaneously have to keep a man in the back alive after they shot him. Jake Gyllenhaal and Yahya Abdul‑Mateen II take Eiza González, an innocent EMT, on the ride of her life against her will. Hopefully, she doesn't get attached to the patient she has to keep alive, a cop, because that would be any EMT's nightmare. Does this bring Micheal Bay back to his glory days?

But the actual plot of this podcast is, Mike and Ethan are two criminals who steal a podcast and have to keep the listener interested while explaining a Micheal Bay movie.

Mike and Ethan kick off Oscar month with Maestro! Bradly Cooper stars and directs a movie about the life of famous conductor and composer Leonard Bernstein and his wife Felica! It's a biopic about someone related to the movie industry so you know Hollywood went crazy for it! Is it worth the nomination though?

The seventh entry in the Leprechaun series is a sequel to the very first leprechaun movie! Although Warwick doesn't return as the leprechaun, other characters from the first movie do! This is exciting. This is what's been missing from the leprechaun franchise. We just need a little continuity and we finally have it. What a great movie to end the series on! :)

"Sweet Home Alabama" is a 2002 romantic comedy film starring Reese Witherspoon. The story is about Melanie Smooter, a successful New York City fashion designer who is about to marry the city's most eligible bachelor, Andrew Hennings, played by Patrick Demsey. He's honestly a catch, but actually, there's a catch to her soon-to-be marriage. She has to go down south to finalize her divorce with her ex-husband! Hope he's a real winner.

Finally, we come to the last Pinocchio movie in the Pinocchio trio. This is the most recent movie starring Roberto Benigni this time as Gepetto instead of Pinocchio like in the previous movie. Critics call Pinocchio 2019 the definitive Pinocchio story. This time Mike has finally read the original Pinocchio story originally published in 1883 so comes in with the knowledge to know what's faithful and unfaithful to the source material. Not that sticking to the source material is a particularly good thing, but it's a curious exercise on the many different ways to adapt such an old story.

Happy Hanksgiving everyone! What's better than gathering around the table with friends and microphones and chatting about Tom Hanks? Almost Plausible's Tomas joins the boys to talk about the movie sendup of the TV show Dragnet. It's a comedy-mystery film from the late '80s that follows two mismatched detectives, Sgt. Joe Friday (Dan Akaroyd) and his new partner, Pep Streebek (Tom Hanks), as they investigate a series of weird crimes in Los Angeles done by P.A.G.A.N.s.

Most important though was the Dragnet music video featuring Dan Akaroyd and Tom Hanks rapping. It has to be seen to be believed.

The Spooktacular season continues with a mouthful of a title: Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II. This Canadian horror film is a sequel to Prom Night in name only. It follows the wonderfully evil Mary Lou as she possesses a teenager to acquire the title of prom queen. It's the most '80s slasher flick we've seen in a while. It checks all the corny boxes you'd want and has pretty shockingly solid visual effects!

It's our 400th episode so let's watch a famous depressing movie with the same number in it, The 400 Blows! François Truffaut was hugely influential in the 50s and we can see why. Also, he had a cameo in Close Encounters From Outer Space! How much more influential could you get? Ethan watched this movie ages ago but doesn't remember anything. Maybe instead of having to watch it for school and now just watching half of it for a podcast, he'll finally appreciate it more!

We're now on to the third movie in the Hellraiser series and things are looking a bit grim. The noticeable dip in quality is now apparent and the makeup effects are worse, but budget isn't everything, right?

Hellraiser: Hellworld is the movie we've been waiting for. It's the one where Hellraiser finally goes online. Unfortunately, old Pinhead wasn't surfing the web as much as we were hoping for. Instead, we a not very Hellraiser-like film that's still somehow a tribute to the Hellraiser series. Plus we got young Henry Cavil so you know it's a winner.

My Date With The President's Daughter is the movie that Disney wants to forget. Maybe because nowadays the president isn't just some goofy guy that people love. The world is too real for a film like this now. So take a back seat and enjoy some '90s nostalgia about what it's like being a President's daughter and how your dad's biggest flaw is that he's just too busy! It's Disney Channel Original Movie time! (DCOM for short)

Belfast is an intensely personal take about growing up amongst massive political unrest from Kenneth Branagh. The Oscars love a personal story so we can see why it was nominated. Although, it feels like the Ford V. Ferrari for this Oscar season. Please forgive us for not knowing our Irish history.

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is apparently Nic Cage! So let's dedicate a whole month to him with "In the Nic of Time" where we'll be going through a majority of his newer movies. The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent stars Nic Cage playing Nic Cage. Some aspects of his life were changed, but his filmography has not. It starts off as a nice quiet movie between Pedro Pascal and Nic Cage bonding over movies, but then the stakes are raised when there's a kidnapping involved! Don't get made while listening to this!

Our final entry for Scream Kings is the 1986 film Maximum Overdrive, which was written AND directed by Stephen King. It's also the last film he ever directed. The plot is about the Earth passing through the tail of a comet, which has an evil effect on machines, gas pumps, and electronic devices. They in some way revolt leading to widespread chaos and destruction. A group of people finds themselves trapped at a truck stop in North Carolina, including Bill Robinson (Emilio Estevez). The machines outside the truck stop start coming to life and turning against the humans. The group realizes they gotta do something to survive. Who will be the hero of this rag-tag group of folks??

King Richard is all about Venus and Serena Williams's dad, Richard Williams. We apologize, we don't know a dang thing about tennis, but we do have families, work, and a heart.

The Family Stone feels like a Hallmark movie if it had actual star power behind it. You got Diane Keaton, Racheal McAdams, Claire Danes, Sarah Jessica Parker and more! Let's see what happens when a fun free-spirited guy brings home a conservative girl for Christmas. The drama is like a real Christmas movie because all of the actors sell the drama.

Housebound doesn't have anything to do with Southbound. No this is a horror movie about a lady who is confined to her house for being a criminal and there's a ghost in it! It's also a horror-comedy from New Zealand not created by Taika Waititi.

Darby O'Gill and the Little People is a documentary made by Walt Disney all the way back in 1959. It stars a host of Irish folks living it up. But Darby O'Gill is convinced he's seen a leprechaun and in fact, he captures one! That's when the antics ensue. Happy Saint Patrick's Day everyone!

This Spooktacular season continues with another recommended, so bad it's a good movie, Cathy's Curse. Her dad's dead sister curses poor little Cathy, I think? This movie's motivations are also a mess plus goofy production issues. For example, an old man tries barging into a door, and the actor accidentally opens the door and closes it to try again. The cut is left in the film! This cheap exorcist knockoff does try and do its own thing, but it still has some of the strangest line readings in all cinema.

Jeanne Dielman, 23 quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles is the number one rated movie presented by the British magazine Sight and Sound that's conducted once a decade. Does a movie about a woman doing chores for her crappy son while trying to make ends meet as a sex worker deserve top honor? Well, let's find out. Honestly, you probably haven't seen a movie like this before. Well unless you watched YouTube cooking videos.

I'm looking this up now and this movie won the critic's poll's top spot. The director's poll winner was the normal movie 2001: A Space Odyssey.

For our second Bombs Away, we're diving into The Adventures of Pluto Nash! It's an attempt to make Eddie Murphy a dang action hero! It wasn't successful. This 2002 American science fiction action comedy film is set in 2087 and follows former smuggler Pluto Nash, who now runs a nightclub on the Moon after buying it from Paulie from the Rocky movies. Despite a star-studded cast including Randy Quaid, Rosario Dawson, and Joe Pantoliano, this movie is considered one of the biggest box office bombs in cinematic history. Is it worthy of all the hate?

Remember Me came out at the height of Twilight. Robert Pattinson was quickly getting painted into a heartthrob weirdo instead of just an indie movie weirdo that we all know and love! But we know Twilight is bad in a fun way, but what about the other romantic movies he's in? Well lucky for us we also get Chris Cooper and Pierce Brosnan in the film as well! Plus we have Belle from a show Mike and I binged through the pandemic, Once Upon a Time. Now I'm realizing her face is almost completely obscured by Robert Pattinson's on the poster.

Men in Black: International is a reboot sequel to the famous movie, Men in Black and it's the perfect way to kick off our Sequel Month! This time we got Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson, Liam Neeson, and Kumail Nanjiani. Sound like the cast of a Marvel movie right? It's clear this is an attempt to reboot a movie series into a franchise everyone can love. Marvel did it why can't Men in Black? Aliens are great! The boys dive in and see if this movie is the first good sequel to the original Men in Black.

In a land full of boring cliche Christmas movies, Menorah in the Middle decides to be different by being a boring cliche Hanukkah movie. This movie is one of the most poorly produced movies we've watched for the podcast, even by holiday movie standards. Even Sara Silverman doesn't want to have her name on this monstrosity. The movie fluctuates between a fever dream and a movie where you wonder if the main character's fiance Chad is going to at some point become a serial killer. Hulu, what are you doing??!

John Wayne stars in a 3D western called Hondo, based on The Gift of Cochise!! When you close your eyes and picture a movie about the Wild West, this is precisely what you imagine. Warts and all. John Wayne is such a curious star in Hollywood. He feels like he's made out of a heavily tenderized steak. Come for our description of 1950s masculinity and stay for the excellent John Wayne impersonations.

It's a brutal movie, so brutal the NFL wouldn't allow them to use their teams. But also this movie has something to say about the sport of football and how we treat all-star athletes.

Porky's is an '80s teen comedy that I'm sure most people are familiar with at least the poster of. Comedies age like milk, but maybe there's a nugget of this movie actually having funny moments. There has to be a reason why it was such a mega-hit back in the day. It wasn't just because there was the possibility of seeing naked women on screen was there?

Logan's Run is a classic sci-fi movie where you live in a utopia, but you'd had to die at 30. Is it worth it? Maybe it's better to live outside where people have great taste in musicals. This is definitely one of the better older sci-fi movies out there.

The Poseidon Adventure is about a cruise ship disaster that happens to take place on New Year's Eve. Imagine the Titanic, but more cynical and with a stacked cast. Also with wild sets where absolutely everything is upside down. What it lacks in plot, it makes up for in characters and amazing set pieces. Hopefully, our New Year will be better than these unfortunate souls.

In this sequel month, it's time to tackle The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride. The Lion King is one of the most beloved Disney movies of all time, but does the sequel hold up? In this movie, adult Simba is a real bigot and it will take his daughter and Scar's "son" to teach him that maybe he shouldn't be a piece of garbage.

Shame Netflix doesn't put out its movies on physical media anymore, because it would be excellent to have someone rent Bird Box from Red Box. We watched Bird Box for the podcast since the new Bird Box: Barcelona was announced. We wanted to see if this movie actually did deserve a sequel. A sequel following someone who isn't Sanda Bullock. Hope she's okay. Depending on how this movie goes maybe she'll have a cameo in Spain!

We made it to the final Underworld movie, Underworld: Blood Wars. What will Selene do when she STILL can't find her lover Micheal AND Eve? Sadly she still has to be stuck with David and go on a Game of Thrones-like adventure! Maybe this final movie will get Mike to turn around on his hatred for this series.

As Pinocchio experts AND because it's the season of Hanksgiving, we had to check out Disney's live-action remake of Pinocchio made just for Disney Plus! This adheres closely to the original Disney animated feature, but with a few key changes and some extra scenes. In fact, the ending is widely different, maybe even for the better! Does that matter though when the actual film looks like garbage?

Step aside Ready Player One, The Lawnmower Man was the original VR movie. Starring Pierce Brosnan as the hot scientist, The Lawnmower Man is a wild ride about chimps, becoming too smart, and of course mind control! It's the perfect way to kick off an entire month of Stephen King movies. Even if this one is barely related to Stephen King. Welcome to the start of Scream Kings!!

17 Again is Zac Efron's big new movie from 10 years ago! This is when he wanted to be taken seriously as a serious actor and honestly, he kinda nails it. This movie could have been so much worse than it actually was.

A Christmas Horror Story tells the tale of four different stories all set around Christmas Eve in the same town. William Shatner is here for some reason and ties all the movies together one way or another. Some are decent, some are bad, but overall this movie has a lot of heart. Mostly because it's Canadian. Gather around a severed elf zombie head on fire and have a listen to this horrifically festive episode.

Happy Hanksgiving, everyone! Like a true podcast family, we invited Thomas from Almost Plausible back to talk about a Tom Hanks film that, basically, no one has seen! What? Does the plot of an American soldier who falls in love with a Jewish woman in Mandatory Palestine not appeal to you?? This is one of Hank's earlier roles coming fresh off of Splash! We learned many things, mostly why this movie has so much Spanish and that dating someone during a world war can be challenging, to say the least.

You think you're out of hell, but Hulu's Hellraiser dragged us back. As we're now expert Hellraiser watchers after suffering through 10 movies, 9 of which you can find on this podcast feed, we had to watch the latest reboot of the series to see if it is anywhere near as good as the originals. We're extremely excited to dive into a Hellraiser movie that Clive Barker actually approves of. In fact, this is one of our longest episodes. We know y'all crave that sweet sweet cenobite content.

Hellraiser: Bloodline may in fact be the most ambitious horror movie we watched for the podcast or ever. It's time to learn about the puzzle box and how it was made in a story told across three different timelines. This movie even guest stars Adam Scott!

HoneyBees is back to discuss The Towering Inferno with Mike and Ethan. The movie depicts a grand opening celebration for the world's tallest skyscraper, the Glass Tower, which sadly catches fire due to bad wiring. The film follows the efforts of the building's architect, played by Paul Newman, and the fire chief, played by Steve McQueen, as they work together to rescue the trapped guests, including the building's owner, portrayed by William Holden. Faye Dunaway also appears along with other notable actors of the time. The movie has it all: romance(?), peril, people cutting corners, awful son-in-laws, big buildings, bad decisions, and, of course, fire!

It's time to watch till you can't with the Hellraiser series! We watched the first hellraiser this Halloween and loved it, but we also noticed there are a lot of movies after it as well! We have to watch them all or at least try to get to the one where hell is (apparently) on the internet. We start off with Hellraiser II, which is a direct sequel to the first movie featuring many of the same characters, but also a WILD DOCTOR who conducts lobotomies! Does it stack up to the first movie? Or does it begin a slow descent into lesser quality movies?

The boys give it their best shot discussing a movie about the choices women have to make in a Mennonite community when faced with the trust about a string of assaults. Honestly, maybe you should just go see the movie, it's actually shorter than most of the other movies we watched for the Oscars!

Ho ho ho! We're here to bring you a rare export: a genuinely good Christmas movie! Rare Exports is a Finnish movie about a young boy and his father who stumble upon a wild project to excavate Santa from a mountain. It's a wild as it seems. It's dark and funny but retains a bit of that Christmas spirit. Also, a surprising amount of old man bits. Thank goodness this is an audio podcast.

Rocky IV is maybe the most iconic movie of the Rocky series. And maybe where the series should have stopped. Rocky faces off against Ivan Drago from the Soviet Union in a battle for American freedom! I'm the unsilent majority here when I say this movie has a killer soundtrack, an amazing robot, Paulie at his best, and of course James Brown. Ricardo returns to guide us through another Rocky movie.

Turn off that Ted Lasso, because Finch is now on hit streaming service Apple+! The story is about a man in the post-apocalypse who built a robot for the only purpose of taking care of his dog when he dies. He then has to teach the robot what it's like to be human. Basically, Tom Hanks creates life. Happy Hanksgiving!

Also this poster doesn't make sense. How is the dog that tall? Maybe Tom Hanks is kneeling, but that massive robot isn't kneeling at all.

CODA came absolutely out of nowhere for us. We'd never heard of it before it was nominated. We also never heard the term for which the acronym represents, Child of Deaf Adults. We were surprised when we watched a movie with the same plot as like 90% of Disney Original movies. Does it deserve an Oscar nomination?

For our third Bombs Away, we're diving into the somewhat successful The Mummy (2017). This movie performed so poorly for Universal that they ended the Dark Universe franchise. It was the beginning of the universe and the end. The Dark Universe franchise was the MCU but for monsters. But if this movie indicates what a franchise full of classic Universal monsters could have been, it would have been blander than a bowl of oatmeal.

The story follows Nick Morton (Tom Cruise), a U.S. Army sergeant and mercenary, who accidentally discovers the tomb of an ancient Egyptian princess, Ahmanet (Sofia Boutella), during a mission in Iraq. Ahmanet, who made a pact with the dark god Set and was mummified alive for her crimes, is awakened and brings with her a malevolent curse. Oh, also, Russell Crowe is there.

This movie is somehow based on the 1999 movie The Mummy. You should watch that instead.

Drive My Car while dealing with one of the worst days of my life. Keep it inside. Don't let anyone know how you're feeling. Be a coward. Oh, the person driving my car? They're also broken but in a different way. Anyway, let's spend 3 hours with them in our last Oscar movie of the season!

Hellraiser: Deader, could this series get any better? We're at number 7 of the Hellraiser series and the boys are barely holding on by a thread. This can't get any worse than the last two movies, right? This movie follows a reporter named Amy who is tasked with investigating *deep breath* the cult known as the deaders. They can't die! Or are they already dead? I'm not sure we'll ever know.
