1981 was a golden year for slasher movies -- Friday the 13th Part 2, Halloween 2, The Burning...but there's one really good slasher film that got lost in the shuffle: Joe Zito's The Prowler. JUST BEFORE DAWN (1981) Directed by Jeff Lieberman sees a group of young people – among them Gregg Henry, Chris Lemmon, and Deborah Benson – heading into the Oregon mountains to check out some property one of them has inherited. Why was Terminator Genisys so bad? So, the prom turned into an apocalypse, almost everyone died in Carrie’s vengeful telekinetic slapstick bloodbath. Carrie went home to her mother, and the house caved in on them. At that point, Carrie is over. We’re waiting for the closing credits. Then Sue crouches down at Carrie’s grave site,  And that’s when the scary thing happens.  Brian De Palma’s adaptation of Stephen King’s tale of a bullied girl taking revenge was both empowering and troubling, with nearly all female main characters. The Dorm That Dripped Blood, also known as Pranks and once upon a time as Death Dorm in its original uncut form, is a slasher that is remarkable for its ending as well as being banned and making the Video Nasties list back when it was still in full force.  One could say that if you have seen one slasher you have seen them all, but if there is one thing a person could definitely say about this genre or any other, it is that sometimes a film can surprise the viewer and that is just what this particular movie does. Revisit the original Candyman before watching its “spiritual sequel” with us live!  While the original Candyman has had two other sequels — Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh (1995) and Candyman: Day of the Dead (1999) — DaCosta’s film seems to be a direct continuation from the first rather than building on the other films of the franchise. Although Predator is truly a masterpiece, PREDATORS (2010) does what Predator couldn't do!! This film returns to the original Predator format, and borrows heavily from the first 1987 Predator film.   The original Predator movie was a classic, largely because of its simplistic plot, but naturally helped along by the presence of Mr Schwarzenegger up against a cool alien.  Then came Predator 2 - the same cool alien, but no Austrian counterpart. Then came those Aliens vs Predator movies and the less said about them the better. Unfortunately, these three misfires left the Predator franchise a bit dead in the water.  Enter 'Predators.' As a kid I became a horror movie fan. I happened to watch Halloween 3: Season of the witch and hated it. Years later, I have come to appreciate and enjoy it. Please join the discussion.

The film takes place during the war with the machines and shares no ties to Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles; while it references both Terminator 2: Judgment Day and Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, it keeps those references vague. Phantasm (also released as Never Dead in Australia) is a low-budget "cult classic" horror film produced in 1977 and released in 1979. The film was directed, written, photographed, co-produced and edited by Don Coscarelli. Wes Craven's Scream (1996) re-invented the Horror Genre by breaking every horror movie rule before it. Its characters often reference real well-known scary movies and actors, and meanwhile they slowly realize they themselves are in their own slasher movie.   Among the best elements of “Scream” is that it doesn’t take itself too seriously. It’s a dark comedy, rife with humor and fantastic irony, garnering just as many laughs as it does screams. Despite all the jumpscares, the violent twist ending and the intense blood and gore on screen, it still manages to be comedic — and that’s what keeps people watching it again and again. It’s a favorite for many because you go in expecting terror, but you’re always pleasantly surprised by the level of wit that Wes Craven weaves into the movie.
