Jane met Camille Dan when she reached out to ask if Jane would donate a chapter from her book The Next Room to a “Gathering at the Doorway: An Anthology of Signs, Visits, and Messages from the Afterlife” Camille’s son Aaron passed away and just days after the tragic loss, Camille began to hear him speak to her from beyond the veil. Today I welcome Andrea Kennedy to The Next Room. She considers herself a regular person, like most individuals—you might even call her mainstream. She started off 29 years ago as a total skeptic about Reiki. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics, and continued to be intrigued with the world and how things work. Today's guest is author, speaker, and positive entrepreneur Jesse Brisendine. Early last week I noticed that Jesse was going through a life altering situation with his partner Amanda. I asked him to come on the show to share his story with The Next Room audience.

Amanda recently started to have some headaches. They would come and go and they didn't seem like anything, major. As they persisted they attributed it to stress. Eventually Amanda went to the urgent care, and they said that they too thought it might be stress related and prescribed her some meds. She then started to lose almost like her spatial relationship. As she was trying to write on a whiteboard, she described it as the the pen kind of went all the way away from the whiteboard. She thought it was strange but because it went away quickly she dismissed it. On May 19th Amanda had just finished a hike and afterward as she was standing in line with groceries it felt as through her right leg was giving out. Once she made it back home, the same thing happened again with her whiteboard and pen. After discussing with close family members they knew Amanda needed to get to the E.R. Once at the hospital the doctor put Amanda through a series of tests. He ordered an MRI and a CT Scan. When the doctor came in to speak with them he explained that this was the worst part of his job. He told them that Amanda had a brain tumor. When they asked what that meant for her. The doctor said that it was the start of a very long journey and that her life would never be the same.

Jesse and Amanda's journey will inspire you and challenge you to think differently about being in the moment. Jesse's final observation today is powerful... He said; "Time is not infinite, it is finite, but what I'm really realizing is that when we embrace the finiteness of of time, we create a space for the infinite. And that's really, I think, the magic of life. So, what do you want to do with the time you have left?"

Vix Browne was born and raised in South London, and as a child, she had big dreams of becoming a writer. However, her journey was hindered by dyslexia. At the age of twenty-five, she decided to seek help for her dyslexia and took it upon herself to learn how to read.

I was introduced to Chip Bell as Chipper Bro in Santa Barbara in the early 80’s. The place, East Beach. I was a 20 something DJ on KTYD, and he was a 20 something 12 time World Champion Freestyle Frisbee Champion superstar who made a BIG life out of tossing a Frisbee and surfing. Chipper has had a remarkable career, and he's just getting started. We had not really seen each other since the early days on East Beach…flash forward to last week.

We meet again at a funeral of all places. Our mutual friend Steve’s mother Ardie passed away and here we are at a Catholic mass in Southern California seeing one another for the first time in over 30 years. He looks the same maybe a little bit more gray on his crazy head of beautiful hair, but still the same Chipper Bro, positive uplifting, honest, engaging, and present in the moment. Shout out to beautiful Ardie for reconnecting us. As we sat at the luncheon in the hall after her beautiful service, I knew within two minutes I had to have Chipper Bro on the show. Laing Rikkers is a leader in the field of Obstructive Sleep Apnea, an often hidden - and potentially fatal - medical condition. Though OSA is estimated to affect 75 million Americans, most people don't even know they have it. Tragically, that was the case with her sister who died of undiagnosed OSA. In her grief, Laing sought solace from nature and creativity, and her new book Morning Leaves, provides a path for self-exploration, connection, and healing from loss. Her mission now is to save lives by encouraging people to pay attention to the symptoms of OSA so they can better care for themselves and their loved ones.

After reading The Artist’s Way in the summer of 2020, Laing started writing a journal every morning, but it was months before it became clear that it would lead to a book. The creative process turned out to be a critical step in processing the sudden loss of her younger sister, Ginna. Ginna’s unexpected death, combined with the vulnerability Laing felt during the pandemic, brought into focus the need to ensure that her children truly knew her. What started as a an exercise in typing up poems and journal entries, became the backbone of Morning Leaves. From there, the book took on a life of its own. Laing has found that one of the greatest gifts of the process has been connecting more closely with like-minded people and feeling their support as she engages more artistically.

I invited my friend and the extremely talented artist Steve Burrows to come on the show. I first met Steve through my beautiful friend Rose when she fell in love with him and brought him into my life. In 2006 Steve illustrated my children's book "With a Cherry on Top" and then more recently he drew several cool images for "The Next Room." (All by hand by the way) Steve's mother recently passed away and after I attended her funeral mass and celebration of life I heard her voice tell me to reach out to her son to ask him to come on the show. I did. He responded with a one word text...YES.

Steve's connection to the afterlife will amaze you. He shares his magnificent stories of deep relation with not only his mom, but his sister Kim who recently transitioned and his pops who passed 29 years ago. His dad gave him the best advice ever after a dream visitation. Steve was distraught and trying to come to terms with running his dad's contracting business after his dad's heart attack. During the visit he asked his dad what to do about all the stress, decision making, and responsibility that came with becoming the man of the family. In his powerful message Steve's dad told him, "None of this matters." He also talks about a mic-drop moment with his mother Ardie in the hospital and her last words to each of her children (and sweet Rose) before she transitioned. The words were, "I love you." This story is about divine energy, dream visitations, messages from beyond, and visitors from nature. My guess is that you will be filled with hope after listening to my conversation with the brilliant Steve Burrows.

In the fall of 2009, Catherine Gourdier and the other members of her family were happily gathering for a surprise horror-themed birthday party for their youngest member, Julie, when the unthinkable happened.

As Julie and her parents were walking home from church, they were hit by a car driven by an eighty-four-year-old woman. While Catherine’s father somehow escaped without harm, Julie and her mother were rushed to hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries. The family was still reeling from the tragedy when, several weeks later, Catherine’s father died suddenly, most likely from a broken heart.

Breathe Cry Breathe is the story of Catherine’s journey through grief, as she tries to come to terms with the traumatic loss of three close family members. In the ensuing weeks, months and years, Catherine realizes that “grief doesn’t vanish so quickly. It packs a suitcase and moves into your heart and head.”

To help overcome and accept her loss, Catherine seeks alternative healing therapies and throws herself into practical diversions—trying to get a crosswalk installed at the site of the accident; advocating for organ donation and mandatory road tests for elderly drivers; and hosting fundraisers for Special Olympics. After years of struggle, it is these pursuits that finally help her to move beyond her devastating grief.

In this show, I will introduce you to an old radio buddy and friend of mine Jim McInnes. Jim and I met in the 90's when we worked at the classic rock legendary radio station in San Diego the KGB. Jim McInnes is one of the most respected broadcasters in Southern California. As one may assume our friendship was based on music, radio, and mutual respect. What we did not realize all those decades ago is that we were also aligned in many other ways.

During today's podcast Jimmy shares a fascinating story with me about his mother. His mother Jeanne was extremely spiritual and when he was just a young man she would often talk to him about the afterlife. She even told him she would be sure to visit him when her time eventually came when she died. Well, that day did arrive.

Jeanne crossed over on December 8th, 1997 with Jimmy and his brother at her bedside. As promised she did indeed visit him. It was the following March while he and his wife Sandi were visiting his family heritage in Ireland. During her brief visitation, his mother appeared so lifelike, that Jim actually reached for her. She had an important life message for him. She told him to never, ever be afraid, especially of death and dying and that she would see him again one day. From the moment his mother visited him in a hotel room in Dublin on Jim felt an easy peaceful feeling wash over him about this life experience. From that day forward Jim stopped fearing anything and taking everything in stride

I invite my new friend Jim McCarty back on The Next Room. Jim just released a beautiful song called "Breath of Wind" written for his wife Lizzie who transitioned three years ago. His book "She Walks in Beauty" is also available through Amazon. Born James Stanley McCarty is an English musician, best known as the drummer for The Yardbirds and Renaissance. Following Chris Dreja's departure from the Yardbirds in 2013, McCarty became the only member of the band to feature in every lineup. McCarty has performed and recorded with the Yardbirds, Together, Renaissance, Shoot, Illusion, the Yardbirds reunion band Box of Frogs, Stairway, the British Invasion All-Stars, and Pilgrim, as well as under his own name and as the Jim McCarty Band. Jane welcomes Gabrielle Jimenez on the show this week. Gabby is a hospice nurse, an end-of-life doula, and a conscious dying educator. She has written four books, over 200 blogs, and has a hospice FB page which has 127,000 followers. Her focus is on trying to change the culture relative to death and dying; helping others to feel more comfortable talking about death and normalizing the conversation. And while she sees a lot of death, what she really finds joy in, is her lessons, which are about love, life, culture, tradition, and faith. Jane speaks to Jessica Marie Tatro this week. She is the Founder of Jadens Way and Jadens Way Speaks. She is the mother to three children on earth and a son in heaven. Her son Jaden is number three out of four children. He was born on September 22, 2001, with down-syndrome, autism and numerous medical complexities from birth requiring a permanent tracheotomy and feeding tube , 30 + surgeries and two open heart operations. Jaden was non- verbal all his life and used some very basic American Sign Language along with Picture Exchange Communication in attempt to ask for basic needs.

Jaden passed away at 10 years old on January 7th 2012 from medical complications.
