21 Jan 20241.0 The Nature of Invisible Things with Astrologer & Mystic Erin Kelley00:56:12

In this introductory episode of The Nature of Invisible Things (TNIT), I talk about the origin story of this podcast and how it intertwines with my own origin story. I hope you enjoy it!

Erin Kelley (she/her) is a writer, ceremonial astrologer, and mystic with a feral heart. Her intuitive gift of right timing is the essence behind her work, affectionately called Slow Magick. Erin believes desire is holy, change happens when it is time, and eros is the driving impulse connecting this moment to the next. With an 8th house stellium, Erin is known for helping others find and effectively utilize their resources. She especially loves using astrology and ritual to assist cycle breakers to build new beliefs, experience more satisfaction, and create space to thrive.

Before leaping into her second act, Erin spent more than a decade creating award-winning go-to-market strategies for some of the world’s biggest names. She now uses her intuitive and results-oriented analytical skills to develop practical and effective recommendations for working with the subtle realm in everyday life. When not ensconced in enthusiastic communion with the more-than-human world, you can find her on the internet at slowmagick.com and on Instagram @slow.magick, and follow her writing at The Nature of Invisible Things on Substack.

In the second episode of The Nature of Invisible Things (TNIT), I am pleased to share my conversation with Natasha Levinger (She/Her). Listen as we talk about the importance of reframing the connection to one’s intuition as something that is not a gift but an everyday thing everyone can access with practice. Also, Natasha shares her intuitive journey and how she came to work with the inner child. In addition, we talk about getting comfortable with not being liked by everyone and how nerve-wracking it can be to come out of the broom closet. And if connecting to your intuition is something that is new to you, Natasha shares some very accessible ways to begin this practice.

I am pleased to welcome Natasha Levinger.

07 Feb 20241.3 Practice is the Path with Artist & Mystic Jonathan Koe01:26:21

In the third episode of The Nature of Invisible Things (TNIT), I am pleased to share my conversation with a devotee of mystery, Jonathan Koe (all pronouns). I had the pleasure of meeting Jonathan in 2021 when they were the 13th reader in my Magician’s Table cohort, and I have been in their enchanted orbit ever since.

We talk about the nebulousness and transformation on the path, what it’s like to carve your own way, and how that is a type of leadership. To put it in Jonathan’s words, “leadership is born of necessity.”

And I love how Jonathan answers my big open-ended questions because their answers so beautifully illustrate my desire to create this podcast. There is no one right way, and much magick is available in the mundane with a shift in perception.

Welcome, Jonathan Koe.

14 Feb 20241.4 Beholding the Incarnate Soul with shayde01:02:34

In the fourth episode of The Nature of Invisible Things (TNIT), I am pleased to share my conversation with shayde, the beholder (he/him). shayde and I met in Britten LaRue’s Vulture Coven, a sibling container to The Magician’s Table.

Our conversation explores what beholding is and what it is like to be beheld. We also share what it was like to be in the container together, making connections with other folks and participating in a cooperative exchange. You’ll also get to hear what shayde says about his offering and how it materialized through being present and available to what shows up in community. We also get into authenticity, liberation, how spirituality needs frameworks for shadow work, and how sitting with discomfort creates space for radical acts.

Listening to shayde is such a delight, and I appreciate his joy and love of our human experience.

Welcome, shayde.

shayde’s Bio

shayde is a beholder. His gift is crystal vision. Through symbol, speech, and story he turns the soul kaleidoscope to conjure the realms of possibility, proclaim the glory of the incarnate soul, and share the gift of wonder. 28 Feb 20241.6 The Beauty of the Present Moment with Astrologer & Artist Mariola Rosario01:11:13

In the sixth episode of The Nature of Invisible Things (TNIT), I am pleased to welcome artist and astrologer Mariola Rosario (she/her). Mariola and I met at The Magician’s Table in 2021 when we were both experimenting with spending more and more time out of the broom closet. We reunited again in Vulture Coven 2023, and I was reminded of the gorgeous depth of her offerings and our love of the macabre.

In our conversation, we talked about our love for researching occult studies, the difference between being a scholar vs. a practitioner of magick, and how important it is to ground the self and the practice of astrology in the present moment. We also discuss the power of disconnecting from the world's noise as creatives and how that impacts our relationship with social media.

Welcome, Mariola!

+++

Mariola’s Bio

Mariola Rosario (she/her) is a bruja, astrologer, teacher, artist, researcher, and flâneuse from Borikén, the land known today as Puerto Rico. She is currently living and experiencing our global collapse from the shores of Paris, France, where she sits on her throne, overlooking the legendary Père-Lachaise Cemetery, an endless source of inspiration, devotion, and daily walks. In her practice, she melds astrology with visual arts and mythopoetic meanderings. She is the proud steward of a powerful Scorpio stellium in the first house. It is from this swampy helm that her sun sends light beams in all directions, with special luminosity towards that which is hidden in the dark, nocturnal. This has given Mariola plenty of deep-diving, underworldly curiosity, a ghoulishly contagious sense of humor, and a psychopomp quality in most of her creative pursuits and obsessions. She likes to walk with people in these mysterious realms, as a friend at the crossroads and an extended hand to those who wander through liminal landscapes. Her Pluto, Sun, Saturn, Mercury, Rising & South Node all ride the plutonian chariot together, sometimes cloaked, sometimes blazing brightly through the darkest of nights.

Mariola offers one-on-one astrology consultations in English and Spanish, online, in Paris, or wherever she may be.  She also offers walking tours of Paris to those interested in oddities, sandwiches, and astrological and mystical symbolism throughout the city.

In May 2024, Mariola is co-hosting a very exciting and unique Astrology and Yoga retreat in Palairos, Greece, with our mutual friend Megan Frye. Limited spots are still available. Join them under the Gemini skies.

13 Mar 20241.8 The Return to Beauty with Astrologer & Teacher Amanda Moreno01:11:53

In the eighth episode of The Nature of Invisible Things (TNIT), I am pleased to welcome Amanda Moreno (she/her), one of my first astrology teachers.

I studied with Amanda for four years, 2020-2023, and appreciate her grounded approach to astrology. We discuss several things, but one of my favorite sections is her studies of apocalyptic imagery on the human psyche and using astrology and ritual to help folks process and make meaning from it. Amanda's perspective offers us a thoughtful invitation for the times we’re in and the times to come. She also shares a rite of passage she experienced when moving into astrological client work and teaching as a full-time practice.

We also talk about the importance of self-care in addition to community care, the need for connection, and slow ways of processing.

Welcome Amanda!

Amanda’s Bio

Amanda Moreno is an astrologer, soul worker, witch and educator based out of Seattle, WA. She obtained her Master’s Degree in depth psychology in 2012 with a focus on how astrological ritual can help folks transition through apocalyptic rites of passage. Amanda’s blend of astrology is evolutionary, queer, psychological and socially conscious. Her practice centers the relationships not just between practitioner and client but between humans and the lands, waters, spirits, ancestors and other beings.  She practices a form of cathartic past life regression work, somatic psychosynthesis and teaches courses that help folks lean into their own ways of knowing. Amanda’s greatest joy is supporting clients and students in their process of connecting with their spark of genius for the sake of healing the soul of the world.

20 Mar 20241.9 Exploring Chiron as a Teacher with Astrologer & Bodyworker Kelsie Hammitt01:26:49

In the ninth episode of The Nature of Invisible Things (TNIT), I am pleased to welcome astrologer, bodyworker, and fellow Portlandian Kelsie Hammitt (she/her). Born with Chiron on the ascendant, Kelsie shares her experience of Chiron as a teacher and much more than the wounds we accumulate through betrayals, choices, and accidents.

We also discuss the thrill and anticipation of attending NORWAC each May and the beauty of the unexpected things that find us. Plus, we get into the embodied experience of learning astrology, the magick of the moment, and how, when one is present, everything can reflect the influence of the cosmos. As Air suns & moons, we share a love of birds and discuss their symbolic representation and connection to the element of Air and life force. Kelsie also shares the gift held within the hard-edged advice she received from her colleagues and peers that changed her career trajectory.

We also explore what our nervous systems can actually handle and process in these times and how that may shape social media use. This is a gem for these times if I ever heard one.

Welcome Kelsie!

Kelsie’s Bio

Kelsie Hammitt (She/Her) is a Professional Astrologer and Licensed Bodyworker in Portland, Oregon. Alongside her work in Western Astrology and Biodynamic Cranial Sacral bodywork, Kelsie has been studying Classical Chinese Medicine since 2018 and will graduate with her Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine license in 2025. With the combination of therapeutic touch and astrological interpretations, she helps people integrate the many layers of their experience to ultimately find greater ease and clarity. Outside of her work with others, Kelsie is a devoted writer, offering weekly newsletters on current Astrological transits, and behind the scenes is working on writing a synthesis of her three realms of study to be used together in practice. Kelsie came to her studies through traditional mentorship and credits the foundation of her work to her mentor, teacher, and great friend Bill Frazier.

27 Mar 20241.10 Navigating Rites of Passage with Artist & Storyteller Lara Vesta01:11:50

In the tenth episode of The Nature of Invisible Things (TNIT), I am pleased to welcome artist, storyteller, and my spiritual mentor, Lara Vesta. She shares how she came to her spiritual path growing up in rural Southern Oregon. We discuss listening to Spirit and how we are always invited into deeper alignment and trust. Lara also shares how the pontification of spiritual practice isn’t enough and how important it is to weave webs of connection because we are not meant to do life, this human experience, alone. She also shares what she would do if someone gave her a magic wand and a challenging lesson learned through resistance.

Overall, this episode is a life-affirming conversation about death and much more.

Welcome, Lara!

And just a heads up, there were two instances where the audio cuts out during our recording that I didn’t catch until production. So, around minutes 21-22, you’ll notice some choppy audio.

03 Apr 20241.11 The Path to Fearless Self-Acceptance with Writer & Astrologer Gina Piccalo01:17:48

In the eleventh episode of The Nature of Invisible Things (TNIT), I am pleased to welcome writer and astrologer Gina Piccalo. We met in 2022 and reconnected in 2023 when I was moved by an article she wrote with Sam Reynolds in The Mountain Astrologer about exploring race on the Taurus-Scorpio axis and how astrology may provide a gateway for understanding and connection. You’ll hear Gina share what that process was like during a very polarized time for our country. We also talk about our love of studying astrology, in Gina’s words, as “the joy of endlessly peeling an onion.” She also shares how she came to astrology and how being on the receiving end of some not-so-great readings strengthened her resolve in what she had to offer as an astrologer. We also discuss the opportunity to have challenging signatures in our charts and much more!

Welcome, Gina!

Gina’s Bio:

Gina Piccalo's first career was in journalism, eventually landing on staff at the Los Angeles Times. She studied astrology in secret for 20 years, before earning her certifications at Kepler College in 2014. Today, Gina works one-on-one as a counseling astrologer, lecturing monthly at SoHo House Nashville, where she is the house astrologer, and recently founded the Nashville Astrology Club. Her astrology research has been published in The Mountain Astrologer and Evolving Astrologer magazines. She uses astrology to help people cultivate self-compassion and align with their true path.

10 Apr 20241.12 Purposeful Escapism with Astrologer & Tarot Reader Chels Holmes01:05:04

In the twelfth episode of The Nature of Invisible Things (TNIT), I am pleased to welcome astrologer and tarot reader Chels Holmes. We met in 2022 at The Magician’s Table and then had the exciting opportunity to connect at NORWAC that same year. We talk about our experiences with Neptune, the desire for freedom in our non-traditional work lives, and how a little bit of structure helps to make that happen.

With Uranus on the ascendant, Chels shares about the tendency to set everything on fire in times of change and how she created a model of what success looks like, or rather feels like, for her. She also shares her love for the goddesses of Greek mythology and the magick of the mountains of Appalachia. Chels describes her approach to sharing the effects of capitalism in the readings and how her exposure to economic disparity as a young child shaped her worldview. We talk about all of that and much more.

Welcome, Chels!

We met in 2021 in Britten LaRue’s Soft Strength, and I was enchanted by her proficiency and devotion to the tarot. Cole shared a Yes/No divination spread with us, which I continue to use today. In our conversation, we discuss discovering your reading style by building a relationship with the tarot and the work of embodiment. Cole also shares her story of her first encounter with the tarot and how choosing a deck for a reading is an intuitive exercise in its own right. We talk about our approaches to learning the meaning behind the cards and developing intimacy with how the cards show up in our lives. Cole also gives us a behind-the-scenes look at her personal practice, favorite decks, tarot pulls, and so much more!

Welcome, Cole!

Cole’s Bio:

Cole (she/her) is a word weaver, tarot traveler, and magic maker. A Virgo Sun and Gemini Rising, she finds Mercury fascinating and confounding in blissfully unequal measure. Cole spent her 20s and early 30s pursuing a career in psychology as a family therapist, rediscovering her love for tarot just before her first Saturn return. In the decade since this rekindling, she has embraced her role as a lifelong student and seeker, standing now at the crossroads of wisdom and mystery, knowing there are more trails to uncover. Perhaps you will show her a path you have found? In the digital realm, you can find Cole on Instagram and SubStack as Rosie Cole Reads. On the physical plane, she is often surrounded by open books, iced coffee, candles, and her 2 cats. In either dimension, she will try to make you laugh.

There are so many gems in this episode, and I look forward to sharing more of my personal experiences in the future, but I thought it best to have this conversation first. Enjoy!

01 May 20241.15 Living Beyond Shame with Astrologer & Teacher Britten LaRue01:20:27

In episode fifteen of TNIT, I am joined by astrologer, writer, and teacher Britten LaRue. We all have those teachers who give us hard lessons; in my yogic path, we called them Saturnian teachers, and Britten was one of mine. Britten helped me learn one of the hardest lessons in my life, although it didn’t happen in the way one might expect. My time in her transformation container was very activating and, at times, frustrating. Still, her trust in me to figure it out made all the difference in how I emerged on the other side, and I can say it was 100% worth it. In this episode, we talk about it.

Britten also shares what it is like to experience pride as someone with Saturn in Leo and how that is different from success. We also discuss the connection between shame and boundaries and what it is like to live beyond shame. Britten shares her experience of midlife transits, a mystical experience from her youth, and one of her most helpful self-regulating practices.

Welcome, Britten!

Britten’s Bio:

Britten LaRue, MA, is a public astrologer, author, teacher, and intuitive guide. A self-described “recovering academic,” she left behind a twenty-year career in art history to reinvent herself at mid-life. Britten is known and loved by her community for modeling what it looks like to live from one’s dream field. Creator of Emergence Astrology, Britten’s deepest calling is to be a midwife for those in the process of birthing their own inner knowing, healing from shame, and learning to trust themselves again with the reckless freedom they deserve. Her first book, Living Astrology: How to Weave the Wisdom of the 12 Signs Into Your Everyday Life, was recently released in March 2024. She’s a Pisces Sun, Capricorn Moon, and Aries Rising.

We met while attending the Portland School of Astrology, have similar astrology placements, and even have the same alma mater! Note for listeners: while trauma and physical abuse are some of the underlying topics in this episode, no specific details are mentioned.

15 May 20241.17 Love Notes from My 12th House Profection Year00:44:51

Surprise, it is a solo episode! After recording the episode intended for this week, my guest, esthetician, and artist Yooseon Hwang, and I had another idea that will unfold in its own time in the future. So, I am offering a check-in from a little over halfway through my 12th house profection year. A lot has changed, and in large part, thanks to the creation of this podcast and the wisdom of the 16 guests who have joined me on the pod so far.

This adventure has allowed me to go within and sit with my shadow self. It’s been a real ‘having tea with your demons’ experience, for which I am really grateful. I have practiced following my gut instinct for a while now, which logically doesn’t usually make sense for many reasons. One of my gifts is that of right timing, and I have half a lifetime of data at this point, so I am excited to see how this plays out. It is no easy task to face life's darkness with courage and hold oneself while in the liminal spaces. While I cannot see the end of this story yet, it is being written at this very moment. It’s an honor to have you along for the ride.

My Bio:

I am a writer, devotional astrologer, and mystic with a feral heart. My intuitive gift of right timing is the essence behind my work, affectionately called Slow Magick. I believe desire is holy, change happens when it is time, and eros is the driving impulse connecting this moment to the next. With an 8th house stellium, I help others find and effectively utilize their resources; I especially love using astrology and ritual to assist cycle breakers in building new beliefs, experiencing more satisfaction, and creating space to thrive.

Before leaping into my second act, I spent over a decade creating award-winning go-to-market strategies for some of the world’s biggest names. Now, I use my intuitive and results-oriented analytical skills to develop practical and effective recommendations for working with the subtle realm in everyday life.

22 May 20241.18 The Present is a Liminal Space00:46:50

It is another solo episode this week where I share an idea I’ve been marinating on for some time: The present is a liminal state, and multiple realities are available anytime. Kronos is our experience of this as linear time, but the moment is Kairos or sacred time.

This may be a difficult concept for some of you because of what is happening in the world right now. And I want you to know that is OK. We can be a world embroiled in conflict, and the present as a liminal space is still a possibility I’d like to consider as true.

Here are a few assumptions I am working with; note that they are always subject to change. This comes from my POV, which is currently a recovering people-pleaser in relation to healing their wound of co-dependence through unmasking in order to experience the gift of choosing myself over and over again, the result of which is authentic expression and creativity.

You have a different POV and life experience and are in your own perfectly timed relationship with your understanding of who you are, which means we might not agree. And that is OK.

Assumption #1: The power of the mind is severely underrated and often misunderstood.

Assumption #2: Our behavior and choices are driven by unconscious beliefs or embedded thought forms.

Assumption #3: We can change our experience by choosing differently at the moment, but it is more challenging to do so if we are running an unconscious program.

Join me for this discussion in this episode, and let me know what you think!

05 Jul 20241.20 When you don't get what you want01:19:13

In episode 20 of The Nature of Invisible Things (TNIT), I share an invitation for the Cancer New Moon, or, ‘what to do when you don’t get your way.’

I often know the most efficient route from point A to point B. My years as a consultative business strategist provided me with numerous opportunities to solve complex problems while aiming for a mutually beneficial solution.

That said, I didn’t always get my way, and recently, I haven’t been getting my way either. So tune in for this episode and hear about what I am doing instead.

12 Jul 20241.21 Astrology interpretations of hope00:48:37

In this episode of The Nature of Invisible Things (TNIT), I look at a difficult conjunction between Mars, Uranus, and the fixed star Algol, which is exact on Monday, July 15th, at 7:04 AM PT.

Join me as I share some historical information informed by Bernadette Brady’s book on fixed stars, Austin Coppock’s class on Algol in his Fundamentals of Astrology course, and my own interpretation of this conjunction. I also look at how this conjunction will fall in the natal charts of public figures Biden and Trump because it feels relevant to me.

This episode contains challenging subject matter, so feel free to skip it if you are not in the mood. Ultimately, I view this cosmic event through a lens of hope and opportunity.

Note: At 19 minutes 48 seconds into this episode, I state this conjunction will be trine the Sun in Cancer, which is incorrect; this aspect is a sextile. Both aspects, trine and sextile, are supportive but have differences in strength and nuances in blending the planets they connect. My overall interpretation would not change.

In the 24th episode of The Nature of Invisible Things (TNIT) podcast, I am joined by Caroline Durlacher, whom I met at The Magician’s Table this year. Tune in to hear us talk about her online business aimed at creating a new reality. Caroline’s current work is based on her Embodied Knowledge Practice approach, developed during her Ph.D. program at UC Berkeley. Initially disappointed that higher education as structured today wasn’t suitable for her divergent way of being, she was inspired to build something different. Now, Caroline is invested in creating and exploring adaptable business structures that work for a wide range of wants, needs, and desires. Rather than simply sharing established business models that work, she explains the reasons behind certain practices and provides a space for integrating and experimenting with these systems in her business incubator. 14 Aug 20241.26 The Power of Small Steps feat. Esthetician Yoo Seon V. Hwang01:17:23

In episode 26 of The Nature of Invisible Things (TNIT), I am pleased to welcome esthetician Yoo Seon V. Hwang, who has been so helpful on my health journey. Sometimes, we find the help we need in unexpected places, and for me, that was lying on a treatment table in SE Portland in Yoo Seon’s very capable hands.

Originally from Korea, she started Yoo Be Skincare after almost 20 years as a fabrication artist working in stop-motion animation in Los Angeles. In this episode, Yoo Seon shares her story of growing up in Korea and her journey to becoming passionate about skincare and taking care of folks. We also talked about the challenges of changing careers and starting her own business and the identity shifts that came along with that.

Yoo Seon’s origin story is one of having faith and finding confidence in herself, which ultimately allows her to continually choose to do what she loves and enjoys. Tune in to hear how small steps lead to something greater, the value of forming good skincare habits, the importance of mineral SPF, and the technology behind glass skin.

It started with a Korean spa with the family, then graduated to daily multi-step skincare by the time she was 13 years old. Going to the spa in Korea is still one of her fondest childhood memories. It was where she felt at ease the most.

21 Aug 20241.27 Embracing Creative Joy feat. Artist & Nonbinary Witch Hannah Hunt01:42:40

In episode 27 of The Nature of Invisible Things (TNIT), I am joined by artist, tarot reader, and nonbinary witch Hannah Hunt. I met Hannah through The Magician’s Table this year and received a profound reading from them when it felt like my creative muse was running dry.

Hannah’s story is a beautiful reminder of the wonder and creativity available in the present moment. Growing up as a competitive athlete, we hear how Saturn stationing direct in their progressed birth chart changed their trajectory from future Olympian to one of “bringing more joy and love to their life and the people around them.” We discuss themes of following the heart, resisting urgency, and being gentle to oneself. Hannah also shares how creativity is a channel, the beauty in revisiting past work with fresh eyes, and how “making something is always worth it.”

Additionally, Hannah advises on claiming one's identity as an artist, the liberation of quitting and listening to one's body’s intelligence. You’ll also hear Hannah’s wisdom around themes of regret, limiting beliefs, and escaping black-and-white thinking. As a bonus, you’ll hear occasional doggy snores and about our shared enjoyment of reality TV.

Welcome, Hannah!

Hannah’s Bio:

Hannah Hunt (they/she) is a nonbinary human from Greenville, SC, who currently resides in Portland, OR, with their spouse and family of rescue animals. Art has been Hannah's lifelong healer and what keeps them anchored here on Earth. Hannah's illustrations are artifacts from their underworld journeys of living with dynamic disabilities and exploring the depths of her shadows and mystical life. Since the pandemic, tarot, astrology, and witchcraft have become the devotional practices that support Hannah's well-being and are woven into their art and creative expression. Other than their inner child and spirit guides, Hannah's primary magical teachers are Britten LaRue, Lindsay Mack, and Amanda Yates Garcia

In episode 28 of The Nature of Invisible Things (TNIT), I am joined by holistic practitioner Leah Lubin. We met in 2015 while in New Mexico and recently reconnected as Leah was the recipient of my astrology reading giveaway, celebrating the first anniversary of my newsletter. During our time together, I was reminded of Leah’s beautiful presence and thought you would enjoy spending time with her, too.

Join us as we discuss her path to becoming a hands-on healer, from studying psychology to starting her career as a licensed massage therapist, which ended up being a gateway to practicing acupuncture. Also, in this episode, Leah reflects on the end of a professional working relationship, which was pivotal in aligning her with the next step on her path. We explore the impact of childhood experiences on life as an adult who struggled with feelings of inadequacy and doubt. We also share many Venusian moments of how she finds wonder and beauty in everyday moments and what it is like to court The Star card in the tarot and discover the safety, peace, and joy within herself.

Welcome, Leah!

Leah’s Bio:

Leah is a holistic practitioner living in Tampa, FL, integrating acupuncture, herbalism, yoga, qi gong, spiritual guidance, and energy healing. She is an artist, auntie, cat mom, magic maker, and booty shaker. Leah is passionate about creating spaces for others to experience the deep well of peace and safety within their own being, to claim their power, and to embody their Essence. She is especially adept at leading others to the heart of the matter as well as energizing self-compassion, trust, and protection so they are able to move through life with greater ease, clarity, and joy.

Leah loves being a bridge between Western minds and Eastern energy concepts and teaching the multidimensional nature of energy medicine in the human body.

Along her own sacred journey, Leah has learned the profound healing that can come from the pure act of allowing our heart and soul to be nurtured.

And whenever she can, she stops to smell the flowers.

04 Sep 20241.29 Life After the 8th House01:12:34

In episode 29 of The Nature of Invisible Things (TNIT), I explore the richness of making mistakes and taking the emotional charge out of failure.

This morning, I discovered one of my own in my Virgo New Moon forecast, much to my chagrin. Long story short, I’ve been experimenting with batching my work as it increases, and clearly, my QA process needs another step. 🤓

Tune in as I reflect on my past learning opportunities and how examining them has shaped my future by creating space for change. CW: I went into unplanned territory with this episode, and I touched on my emotional trauma, religious trauma, and abortion. So feel free to skip this one. 😅 I don’t go into any medical details but look back on the mistake of not sharing it with anyone out of shame.

My Bio:

Erin Kelley (she/her) is a writer, devotional astrologer, and esoteric strategist with a feral heart.

She especially loves using astrology and rituals to assist cycle breakers in building new beliefs, experiencing more satisfaction, and creating space to thrive.

Before leaping into her second act, Erin spent more than a decade creating award-winning go-to-market strategies for some of the world’s biggest names. She now uses her intuitive and results-oriented analytical skills to develop practical and effective recommendations for working with the subtle realm in everyday life.

11 Sep 20241.30 Breaking the spell of the past00:58:26

In episode 30 of The Nature of Invisible Things (TNIT), I wrap up Season One of the podcast by reflecting on my experience since its launch in January 2024, and then I look ahead at the theme of Season Two.

To say this podcast impacted my life would be a massive understatement, so much so that I thought about calling this episode ‘Podcasting as a Spiritual Journey.’ I feel more myself than ever, and my heart is full of gratitude for everyone who guested and tuned in each week.

Because I am in the process of launching my first long-form transformative container, I share more about my dreams for its inaugural cohort in this episode, as well as how this podcast was very much a part of its inception.

18 Sep 20242.01 Curious Conversations feat. Astrologer & Diviner Jana Barrett01:39:15

Welcome, friend, to episode one of Season Two of The Nature of Invisible Things (TNIT)! This season's theme is moving through change, encompassing many different topics. I am thrilled to welcome my friend and fellow astrologer and diviner, Jana Barrett, back to the podcast.

In this episode, we share our experience engaging our emotional flexibility in online and offline spaces to connect with those with different beliefs or viewpoints. We discuss that while curating your online space can be great, it can also be isolating by creating echo chambers that impact our day-to-day offline lives. The content of this episode was inspired by one of Jana’s social posts, which also happened to be something I was contemplating.

We discussed how the tendency to want to ‘win’ in a conversation creates competition rather than mutual understanding. We share some personal experiences experimenting with a more curious and playful approach. Jana also shared some insightful perspectives regarding privilege and how it is a privilege not to engage with folks who believe differently than we do, plus an invitation to look at the motivations behind wanting to close ourselves off.

And, of course, we also meander through some astrology, both personal and collective. We talk about our profection years, retrograde Pluto’s ingress into Capricorn for the last time in our lives, plus a bit about Neptune and projection, and what happens when we give a reading that feels more Uranian, uncomfortable or activating in some way.

Welcome back, Jana!

Jana’s Bio:

Jana Barrett (they/them) is a humanistic & evolutionary astrologer, diviner, writer, activist, and witch based in the so-called Pacific Northwest. They offer 1:1 and group services to support people through courageous transformations. A keen depth explorer, Jana acts as a steady guide through Plutonian times, helping folks alchemize shame into power to rediscover their magic and joy. As a certified Somatic Parts Work practitioner, much of their work centers on reconnection — bringing people into compassionate relationship with the parts of themselves they've forgotten or denied. They see this work as a personal pathway to pleasure and fulfillment, and a stepping stone to collective liberation and healing. You can learn more about their background and offerings at feelingloudly.com, and find them on social @feelingloudly. Jana also offers low-cost monthly events, group readings, and exclusive content through their Patreon.

25 Sep 20242.02 Metaphysical Mutations feat. Archetypal Interpreter shayde01:21:40

In episode two of season two, I am joined once more by one of my magical siblings and fave Aquarian Suns, shayde. We met in Britten LaRue’s Vulture Coven in 2023, and both moved through The Magician’s Table this spring.

Join us as we discuss what it feels like to explore the possibility of a different world filled with “radical, love-based humans.” We chat about shayde’s evolution from Word Mage, Beholding, to Wonderchild and what happens when your life becomes a “lucid dream.”

We also discuss the mutability of our astrological axes, building a life on shifting sands, living in constant metamorphosis as magical humans, claiming accountability for our complicity in the circumstances in which we find ourselves, and discovering the authority within. Plus, using all of that to lead others in building the world they want to live in.

shayde shares their POV on Pluto’s ingress back into Capricorn, the archetypal symbolism of deer, and we wax poetic about debilitated Suns and experiencing eclipses in our personal astrology. And so much more!

Welcome back, shayde!

shayde’s bio:

shayde is the creator of Wonderchild, a spirituality brand that centers self-exaltation and revels in the marvel of creative control. shayde speaks the languages of astrology, human design, and tarot, but his professional tool of choice is Wonderchild’s quintessential framework: The Divine Fundamentals. shayde brings a fantastical and lyrical flare, as well as a practical and scrutinizing sensibility to helping others dissolve internal barriers and re-engage with possibility. His presence has been described as “air in neptunian water space,” “pop culture archetype interpreter,” and “for highly creative people who are not afraid of their minds.” shayde is a cis male, proudly queer, with Black American, White Italian, White French, and Native American lineage. 09 Oct 20242.03 When you don't know what to do00:57:30

In this episode of The Nature of Invisible Things (TNIT), in honor of Jupiter stationing retrograde, I share one of my favorite tales of transformation and change told through the descent of Inanna, a Sumerian fertility goddess. I offer it as another way of exploring your experience of moving through change and how surrendering the more solar parts of self makes space for the lunar knowing to emerge.

Also, in this episode, I talk about Venus’ cycles, Saturn & Neptune’s ingress into Aries, and the experience of initial midlife transits, Pluto square Pluto and Neptune square Neptune, along with advice for anyone feeling confused.

16 Oct 20242.04 The Subversive Sensuality of Fat Bodies feat. Samar Jade01:27:50

In episode four of season two of The Nature of Invisible Things (TNIT), I am pleased to welcome back Samar Jade, my first guest when the podcast launched in January earlier this year. After a brief update on the astrology of the moment, we quickly moved into the subject matter at hand — the subversive and sensual joy of having a fat body. While the focus is sharing our experiences of moving through a change in the acceptance of our fat bodies, this episode has many provocative moments for ALL body types.

Join us as we discuss what it feels like to fully inhabit and accept one’s body after being at war with it for a long time and the overindulgence of being both joyful and fat simultaneously. In addition, Samar shares the work of Sabrina Strings, which connects fat phobia in the United States to white supremacy.

We reflect on where our body shame started, our first taste of diet culture, and discuss the connection between desire, distortion, and the commodification of our shame. Bodies are personal, and yet our culture feels entitled to comment on and objectify them. Tune in and hear about our experiences of both joy and pleasure in our fat bodies.

Welcome back, Samar!

Samar Jade’s bio:

Samar Jade is a Black, queer, and gender-expansive human whose work is rooted in helping others to deepen their capacity to hold space for their complexities. Through the use of astrology, archetypes, and somatic practice, Samar helps support human beings in their underworld journeys. In addition, they are also a writer. Their first full-length publication, Blue Violet: Haint Spaces, will debut in the fall of 2025.

25 Oct 20242.05 The Inconvenient Unconscious Arrives: Honoring the Pluto Square01:13:28

In episode five of season two of The Nature of Invisible Things (TNIT), I am fulfilling a promise to deliver the first in a series of episodes on midlife transits: the Pluto square. But first, I reflect on my Solar return and how I marked the transition.

Pluto is a planet with themes of power, transformation, and change. When we experience a Pluto square, we are confronted with our attachment to past patterns and beliefs that activate the ways we experience psychological wounding. It is a time when we are called to leave behind outdated ways of being.

This won’t be a class on Pluto or Pluto through the signs but rather an exploration of the Plutonic transit experience. However, given the timely relevance, I will speak about Pluto in Aquarius and Pluto in the Libra (1971-1984) and Scorpio (1983-1995) generations.

Join me as I meander through this transit, share the story of my Pluto square in 2014, and invite you to create a re-birth plan if your Pluto square is on the horizon.

I am pleased to welcome Lisa Quigley, the Glitch Witch, in episode six of season two. Tune in and hear how Lisa's reading helped me launch my first community container and how I discovered just how impactful it was post-launch! I adore synchronicities like this one.

We then discussed the theme of season two, moving through change in our lives and work. We start by exploring a pivotal moment of vulnerability on our path, where we first revealed more about ourselves and our work publicly and what happened when our work began to change and shift. We also discussed what it feels like to continually choose authenticity and how that goes hand in hand with letting folks have their opinions about us or our work.

Lisa is another wonderful human with a significant Aquarian assignment (Aquarius Rising, Sun, Mercury with a Leo Moon), so we had to talk about aliens and the distortion that comes with that.

Welcome, Lisa!

20 Nov 20242.07 Operating Under the Influence: Honoring the Neptune Square01:31:36

Hello friend! The podcast is back! In this episode of The Nature of Invisible Things (TNIT), I continue my mini-series honoring mid-life transits by sharing my experience with the intoxicating Neptune square Neptune, which folks experience around the age of 42.

Neptune in the chart shows us how we engage with mysticism and spirituality and connect to the cosmos beyond the self. Still, it is also the planet of illusion and confusion. Join me in this exploration, and we’ll go through the looking glass together.

I’ve been under the influence of Neptune for some time, and its very nature makes it confusing to bring Neptune into form, so this episode is not a complete analysis but reflective of my experience.

I also experienced transiting Neptune, squaring all my personal planets (Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars), nodal axis, and natal Uranus before experiencing Neptune square Neptune. Recently, I had Neptune conjunct the Ascendant, and presently, Neptune is square my midheaven. That doesn’t mean I am unique, but more so a reflection of the number of times I’ve been around the Sun. It's very likely you, too, have been under the influence of Neptune but didn’t know it at the time.

In addition, I share a few ways I have honored and given expression to Neptune’s lessons and how I surrendered under states of confusion.

Enjoy!

27 Nov 20242.08 Summoning the Unbridled Spirit of Vagittarius feat. Astrologer Britten LaRue01:39:33

No, that is not a typo.

In episode eight of season two of The Nature of Invisible Things (TNIT) podcast, I am pleased to welcome back author, astrologer, and teacher Britten LaRue for an adventurous exploration and expansion of the Sagittarius archetype.

In late 2023, Britten and her boyfriend, Matt, birthed an idea into being or, perhaps, summoned a being back into collective consciousness—as there is something simultaneously old and new about Vagittarius. Together, they pondered, what does embodying the bold and unbridled audacity we associate with Sagittarius look or feel like in different body types or gender identities? And thus, Vagittarius was born.

Tune in and join us as we explore the nature of this wild beastie who refuses to be known wholly and entirely, a shapeshifter extraordinaire combining an uncontainable spirit and voracious appetite for life. The spirit of Vagittarius invites us to reject toxic certainty and fall in love with the story of our lives again and again. And it’s just getting started.

Welcome back, Britten!

In episode ten of season two of The Nature of Invisible Things (TNIT), I am excited to share my reflection on another midlife transit: the Uranian Opposition, which occurs around age 42. This is when Uranus, the planet of disruption and innovation, frees us from Saturn's limitations and restrictions. We move further down the path of individuation and express our unique genius. Mine was a total midlife crisis of values, the impacts of which still play out today as it is when I chose the road less traveled and left behind the career I spent so much time building. Join me as I share my experiences about the challenges and gifts of this powerful transit.

In episode nine of season two of The Nature of Invisible Things podcast, I am so pleased to welcome back astrologer Gina Piccalo for another installment in my series honoring the transits of mid-life. Our conversation explores the Chiron return, which happens at about age 50. My own Chiron return is on the horizon, and I couldn’t think of anyone I’d rather have this chat with, as Gina’s grace and acceptance are so readily apparent in this episode.

Recorded during the Mercury Cazimi on December 5th, this episode offers a beautiful discussion about Chiron beyond the return itself. Gina offers incredible insight into her approach to this sensitive placement in her readings with clients and many avenues of exploration for your Chiron placement as “the original wound we learn to negotiate” through different seasons of life.

In this episode of The Nature of Invisible Things podcast, I am pleased to share my conversation with author, teacher, and Aquarian Sun, Perdita Finn. I first encountered her work in 2020, and it’s been a cornerstone of my personal development since. Her writing, along with that of her husband, Clark Strand, and her daughter, Sophie, was pivotal in helping me find my way home and reconnect to the miracle of my human life.

Join us as Perdita shares her exploration of the "nature of invisible things" and miraculous experiences with her ancestral connections. We discuss the role of the dead in our lives, and Perdita shares the perspective shift that comes when we recognize the long story of our souls—a much-needed balm for these times.

Our conversation explores deep spiritual and metaphysical themes around connecting with our beloved dead, the unseen realms, and our relationship to the earth. You’ll also hear about Whole Earth Animism, a program she and her husband Clark offer in March 2025. This program aims to reconnect humans with the natural world and foster a deeper understanding of our place in the cosmos.

Welcome, Perdita!

Perdita’s Bio:

Perdita Finn is the co-founder, with her husband Clark Strand, of the feral fellowship The Way of the Rose, which inspired their book The Way of the Rose: The Radical Path of the Divine Feminine Hidden in the Rosary. They are currently at work on their next book together Circles Not Lines: Spiritual Community Beyond Patriarchy. To find out more about her devotion to “ecology not theology,” visit wayoftherose.org.

In addition to extensive study with Zen masters, priests, spirit workers, and healers, she apprenticed with the psychic Susan Saxman, with whom she wrote The Reluctant Psychic. Perdita Finn now teaches popular workshops on Getting to Know the Dead. Participants are empowered to activate the miracles in their own lives with the help of their ancestors and recover their own intuitive magic. Her book Take Back the Magic: Conversations with the Unseen World is an intimate journey through her recovery of these lost ways. She speaks widely on how to collaborate with those on the other side, on the urgent necessity of a new romantic animism, and on the sobriety that emerges when we claim the long story of our souls. Her next book is the forthcoming Mothers of Magic: Recovering the Love at the Heart of the World.

She lives with her family in the moss-filled shadows of the Catskill Mountains.
