If you're feeling frustrated and defeated by irregular periods, unpredictable mood swings, and unexplained weight gain, then you are not alone! You may have already tried various birth control methods, changing your diet, and exercising more, but these solutions haven't improved your menstrual health. Instead, you're left feeling helpless, hopeless, and ashamed that your body isn't functioning as it should. It's time to break the cycle of disappointment and take control of your health by understanding what a 'normal' cycle truly is and how to achieve hormonal balance.

In this episode, you will be able to:

  • Discover the crucial connection between the menstrual cycle and hormonal balance for optimal health.

  • Uncover the ideal length of a menstrual cycle and its significance.

  • Learn about the consistency, colour, and flow of menstrual fluid, and how it can reveal important health insights.

  • Get insights on emotional symptoms and pain during menstruation, and what they're trying to tell you.

  • Realize the benefits of tracking your menstrual cycle for overall wellness and its bigger impact.

There's no period without ovulation. - Monique Dickson

  • Track your ovulation using a thermometer with two decimal places.

  • Aim for at least three to seven days of bleeding for a healthy period.

  • Consult a healthcare professional if your period lasts longer than seven days or if you experience spotting.

  • Maintain a healthy menstrual cycle length of 25 to 35 days.

  • Monitor the consistency and color of your menstrual fluid, aiming for a consistency like maple syrup and dark red blood in the middle of your cycle.

  • Use at least 30 to 50 mils of menstrual fluid during your period, equivalent to six to ten regular-sized pads or tampons.

  • Consider using a menstrual cup to easily monitor the amount of menstrual fluid lost.

  • Seek medical advice if you experience symptoms of low estrogen, such as dryness in the vagina, painful sex, low libido, joint pain, anxiety, or disturbed sleep.
