20 Nov 2023The Science Behind Manifestation & Success In The Beauty Industry00:40:56

In this episode, we're joined by Tracy Jasmin, a former wedding photographer who transitioned into a business coach for female entrepreneurs. Tracy shares her journey and insights into the world of mindset and manifestation. Tracy's transformation from a wedding photographer to a business mindset coach is a remarkable journey guided by intuition and a deep passion for mindset and manifestation.

Our Conversation:

  • Tracy's career began in newborn photography, but she soon realized her passion for weddings, which led her to trust her intuition and embark on her unique journey.

  • Her interest in mindset, manifestation, quantum physics, and the psychology of the brain became a driving force in her life.

  • Despite initial skepticism, Tracy found herself working with a business coach who helped her develop a group coaching program and explore concepts related to the subconscious mind and neurolinguistics.

  • The discussion also touches on the transformative power of books like "You Are a Badass" by Jen Sincero and the pivotal moments when one's perspective shifts dramatically.

  • Tracy highlights the significance of self-recognition, embracing your unique gifts, and shifting your self-perception to achieve success.

  • The conversation delves into the misconception of oversaturation in various niches, using the example of curly hair specialists, and how your beliefs can limit or expand your opportunities.

  • Tracy emphasizes the importance of an identity shift, where your thoughts, actions, and beliefs align with the person you want to become.

  • The concept of manifestation is explored, with a focus on becoming the person who has the desired outcomes, rather than just seeking the outcomes themselves.

  • The discussion touches on the science-backed aspects of manifestation and the influence of thoughts, beliefs, and emotions on one's actions and, ultimately, their reality.

  • It's highlighted that belief in manifestation is not a prerequisite, and people from various backgrounds, including those who are not spiritual, can benefit from these principles.

  • The importance of taking action aligned with your goals and assessing whether your thoughts, feelings, and actions are moving you closer to your desired outcomes is emphasized.

Key Takeways:

  • Manifestation is about becoming, not just obtaining.

  • Your self-perception dictates your success.

  • Your mindset is the key to breaking through limiting beliefs.

  • Evidence and self-recognition are essential in the manifestation journey.

  • The placebo effect demonstrates the power of belief and mindset.

  • The importance of open-mindedness and recognizing the connection between energy and belief.

19 Sep 2022Marketing VS Branding00:23:11

🎉Sign up for the How To Build An Aligned Clientele Masterclass🎉

What is the difference between branding and marketing as a hairstylist or beauty professional?

Ren Jones said this “Marketing is the equivalent of asking someone on a date. Branding is why they say yes”

In other words… when you’re marketing essentially you’re extending an invitation to be a part of your community, your business and your culture.

Your brand IS that culture, how people perceive you and how your values, voice and visuals communicate what you’re all about.

In today’s episode we will talk about both.

You don’t need tens of thousands of followers to build a profitable business by marketing yourself online… you do need the kind of personal brand that makes you irreplaceable in the eyes of your ideal clients.

🌸Get instant access to my FREE masterclass “Building An Aligned Clientele As A Hairstylist”🌸

🌸Learn more about Beauty Biz Brand Academy🌸

In this episode, we discuss how marketing is an essential skill that every business owner should learn. Marketing is not just about attracting new clients, but also about potentially increasing monetization from your existing clients. If you have a solid relationship with your clients and provide them with an incredible guest experience, there are so many ways to monetize your email list in the next couple of weeks.

It's crucial to feel confident that you can pivot with limited drama, even if Instagram ceases to exist tomorrow. You need to be able to sustain the business that you're working to build, and marketing is not a skill you can afford to opt out of. Think about the fundamentals of haircare, for instance. These are foundational skills that you learn once and then continue to develop through continuing education.

You can learn the foundational skills of marketing, too, and I know that you have what it takes to do so. You've learned harder things than this before. It's essential to learn these skills one time so that you have that foundational knowledge when things change in the future, which they will. You can pivot and take what you're doing to the next level.

Having foundational marketing skills will help you avoid reckless decision-making that doesn't align with your brand and could alienate potential clients.

If Instagram were to shut down tomorrow, you would have a deep understanding of your ideal client and where they are hanging out. You would be able to choose platforms strategically and think analytically.

Marketing is the best way to take control over your business and attract clients, but it's also crucial to sustain it. It's not something you should be scared of learning because it's a fundamental skill that every beauty business owner needs to understand… and it’s going to give you the skills to conquer whatever may come in the business world.

02 Aug 2021Branding Vs. Marketing00:20:07

06 Jun 2022Salon Life Harmony: What does "balance" really look liked for hairstylists and beauty pros?00:35:48

I have a confession to make, and that is that work has always been something that I either tend to over prioritize and even in some seasons under prioritize...

...or at least that is what I thought when I was chasing this unrealistic idea of "work life balance."

I think that for so many of us, the idea of work-life balance is just another goal to hit or something unattainable that we have to chase.

On today's episode, I have brought on Kim Kennedy, who is a stylist and a business coach for hairstylists. And we are going to talk all about what Kim likes to call salon life harmony.

So we're no longer trying to. Achieve some sort of balance. We are honoring ebbs and flows and really working on how we can incorporate boundaries that let us enjoy our lives and thrive in business. I am really excited for this conversation and I think that you are going to love it.

11 Feb 2025Luxury Pricing Myths: Why You Can Build a High-End Salon in a Small Town00:36:13

In this episode of the Hairstylist Rising podcast, host Jodie interviews Casey Taylor, a respected educator in the beauty industry, about building a luxury business even in small towns. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… your visual branding is a vital part of communicating what you do, who you serve & who you are to ideal clients but I still encourage you to do the foundation work first so you can be sure your branding hits all the right notes and speaks directly to those dream clients.

20 Mar 2023Discounting Isn't A Marketing Strategy00:18:50

In this episode of the Hairstylist Rising Podcast, we dive into the topic of discounting and promotions in the hair industry. Our inspiration for this discussion comes from a post by Nina Tulio, a frequent guest on the show.

We are discussing the difference between discounting and well-thought-out promotions. While promotions can be an effective marketing strategy to attract new clients and offer value, discounting can have negative long-term consequences for a stylist's brand and reputation.

Next, we explore the reasons why hair stylists might be tempted to offer discounts, such as slow business or competition. However, we caution against relying on discounting as a long-term strategy and discuss alternative ways to add value without devaluing our work.

We tackle the topic of "charge your worth," a popular phrase on social media.

We are sharing insights on attracting new clients. We discuss the importance of building a strong online presence, delivering exceptional service, and leveraging referrals. We also offer tips for using promotions to attract new clients without sacrificing our value.

Overall, we hope this episode encourages hair stylists to prioritize their value and worth in their pricing strategies and promotions. By focusing on building a strong reputation and delivering exceptional service, we can attract and retain clients in the long term.

25 Sep 2023Are You Giving Yourself Permission To Evolve? A Peek Behind The Curtains Into My Journey As A Beauty Industry Entrepreneur00:42:35

DM Jodie on IG

In this crossover episode of "Hairstylist Rising," hosted by Jodie Brown, and "The Cash Confident Stylist," hosted by Misty Jayne, we delve deep into the world of hairstyling, entrepreneurship, and personal growth.

We, the hosts of these two podcasts, share our experiences and journeys in the hairstyling industry.

Jodie, the host of "Hairstylist Rising," began her journey as an educator, sharing her expertise in building a successful clientele using Instagram. However, her initial foray into education revealed a crucial realization: not everyone possessed our knowledge. This recognition became the cornerstone of her mission, to empower hairstylists by teaching them the ins and outs of marketing themselves effectively.

As Jodie evolved in her career, she transitioned from social media management for brands and educators to establishing a full-fledged content marketing agency, serving as its creative director and strategist. Each step forward required letting go of tasks and embracing change, a process that challenged her ego and self-perception.

Misty Jayne, host of "The Cash Confident Stylist," joins the conversation, sharing our experiences of evolution in the hair industry. Together, we explore the intricacies of recognizing the need for change, even when it means relinquishing tasks we enjoy.

We discuss the concept of zones of competence, excellence, and genius, as outlined in the book "The Big Leap" by Gay Hendricks. Stepping outside of our zone of excellence can be daunting, but it's often the key to unlocking our true potential.

Both hosts emphasize the importance of assessing what truly brings us joy and fulfillment, recognizing that evolution sometimes involves letting go of activities that no longer serve our future selves. The conversation touches on the power of outsourcing, prioritizing tasks, and making conscious choices to align with our goals.

Join us in this insightful discussion on evolving in the beauty industry, embracing change, and finding our zone of genius.
