Jenn Drummond “had it all” - success as a financial services entrepreneur, fulfilment as a mother, and a fresh start in a new city. She was living what some would call a dream life… though in reality, she felt bored. Flat. Passionless. Lacking excitement… although that was about to change.

As her car flipped over and over, she had a strange sense of calm… a realization that if she made it out alive, she would take advantage of life. She would TRULY live.

And that’s exactly what she did…that was the moment she realized that you don’t get to choose when you leave this life—but you can choose how you live it.

After being challenged by her 8-year-old to climb Everest… she decided to go ahead and do it.

Now, as a world record setting mountaineer, business owner, and mom of seven, she inspires millions of people to be resilient, lead yourself first, and set goals that push you to grow and do more than you ever thought possible.

22 Jul 2024Jesse Israel | How Anxiety at Coachella Led Me to Tour with Oprah00:44:52

While most of Jesse Israel's buddies at NYU were out drinking at keg parties, he had his sights set a bit higher. Jesse started a music label... from his dorm room... and then signed the band MGMT. 29 Apr 2024Nev Schulman | How Getting Catfished Taught Me Empathy00:41:36

Television host and producer Nev Schulman is the walking embodiment of one of our ethos here at The Gratitudeology Podcast: turning pain into purpose. Chances are, you’re aware of the now famous cautionary tale about the time he was lured into an online relationship by means of multiple fictional internet personas. After all, this whirlwind of deception and heartache entered the term Catfish into the modern lexicon, giving way for the award-winning documentary Catfish and, later, the renowned follow-up MTV docu series Catfish: The TV Show.

But there’s a reason Nev has transcended his origins as a victim of an online scam to become one of American television’s most beloved hosts. Nev’s unique experience has served as an engine of empathy, allowing him to get to the bottom of real life stories of internet schemes with a comprehensive understanding of both the victim’s experience and the perpetrator’s motivation.

Tune in to hear about his unlikely background in dance (yup... ballet!!), the origins of the name Catfish, the story of "the punch that changed everything," his view on the evolution of the internet as a social tool... and so much more.

[25:42] Nev shares Angela’s reaction to him wanting to share her story and speaks about the

birth of Catfish

[29:56] Jamie and Nev talk about being grateful for not just the good things in life, but also the

Nev’s Bio:

In a world where everyone is constantly connected digitally, social media has made communicating easier but this digital world might also complicate relationships. According to MTV “Millenials” 18-24 years old, 1 in 4 has online dated, 1 in 2 has “a friend” who does it and, in the past three years, traffic to top 10 online dating sites has tripled. Now hear from the star and host of MTV’s hit series CATFISH: THE TV SHOW, Nev Schulman, about his experiences and perspectives on this evolving medium.

Following the success of Rogue Pictures and Relativity Media’s critically acclaimed 2010 documentary-thriller CATFISH, MTV’s new hit series CATFISH: THE TV SHOW tackles the mystery and complexities of dating in a digital world. The series follows host, Nev Schulman, whose own online love drama was the subject of the “Catfish” film, as he takes viewers on a deeply personal journey that goes inside the stories of young people as their online-only romantic relationships collide with first-time, real-life encounters.

In late 2007, filmmakers Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost sensed a story unfolding as they began to film the life of Ariel’s brother, Nev. They had no idea that their project would lead to the most exhilarating and unsettling months of their lives. A reality thriller that is a shocking product of our times, Catfish is a riveting story of love, deception and grace within a labyrinth of online intrigue. The film was produced by academy award nominated filmmaker, Andrew Jarecki and was executive produced by Brett Ratner.

Prior to CATFISH, Schulman was a New York City photographer and filmmaker, and the youngest member of Supermarché. His photography has appeared in magazines and newspapers such as Vogue, The New York Times, Lucky, New York magazine, the New York Sun and Dance Magazine. He now resides in Los Angeles.

27 Jan 2025Ryan Dusick | Leaving Maroon 5 Helped Me Find Myself00:57:47

What if you got everything you thought you always wanted… then lost it all? How would you move forward? Would you live in regret? Depression? Victim mentality? Or would you find that maybe, just maybe, it would spur you to find the TRUE key to happiness in learning to let go, pivot, and reprioritize your life?

This is exactly what happened to Ryan Dusick, founding drummer from Maroon 5.

Founding the group “Kara’s Flowers” in 1994 (yup, that was the band’s name at first!) with best friends Adam Levine, Jesse Carmichael, and Mickey Madden, Ryan and his bandmates worked tirelessly for a decade before the group changed its name to Maroon 5 and finally recorded its first multi-platinum album Songs About Jane. Multiple hit songs, two Grammy awards, and 20 million albums sold later, Ryan found himself suffering and without direction, when his career as a performer came to an end, just as it was taking off.

After years of struggling with physical and mental health challenges, Ryan finally turned a corner in 2016, when he began his journey of recovery, culminating in a new life path full of meaning, purpose and fulfillment.

Curious about what he’s up to today? We sat with him on the heels of releasing his book, “Harder to Breathe: A Memoir of Making Maroon 5, Losing It All, and Finding Recovery” to hear more about his journey from aspiring pop star to global superstar to heartbroken alcoholic to thriving mental health survivor and messenger of hope, recovery, and a new take on GRATITUDE.

19 Aug 2024Clinton Sparks | From Crime to Collabs with Lady Gaga, Pitbull, and DJ Snake00:40:57

Clinton Sparks grew up tough in Boston, robbing houses and having numerous run-ins with the law... so his life today as a Grammy-nominated music producer, award-winning DJ, and entrepreneur was a surprise... even to him. He's a DJ, producer, and entrepreneur who has collaborated with icons like Lady Gaga, Pitbull, and Akon, and is known for discovering DJ Snake.

So how did this Bostonian -- with no industry contacts -- take his childhood dreams of breaking into the music business and make them into a reality?

"Get Familiar" is Clinton's tagline, a way in which he would encourage fans to "lean in and learn more" about the interesting artists whose careers he would help launch on the radio... so today, we turn that "get familiar" mentality back on Clinton himself.

As one of the most well-loved, well-respected, and hugely successful people in the music industry, Clinton takes us through his journey to greatness and leaves us with some of the best in-your-face advice we've received on this show so far -- ideas on:

1) how to overcome imposter syndrome, 2) how to get out of your own way and smash limiting beliefs, 3) how to become well-liked in any industry, 4) how to stand out and get noticed, 5) and how to overcome the trauma of your past to stand in the light of your future.

Plus you don't want to miss his epic behind-the-scenes stories... like how DJ Snake almost quit before his big break... or the drama behind his song with Lil Jon, “Turn Down for What” ... trust us, you won’t want to miss this one!

[02:43] Jamie describes her visit to Clinton’s home outside of Los Angeles.

[21:32] Clinton talks about making connections during his time in the radio business.

[24:09] Clinton describes what it’s like to produce music with major artists like Lady Gaga, Pitbull, and DJ Snake.

[25:40] Clinton reveals how DJ Snake almost quit music and spills the drama between DJ Snake and Lil Jon.

31 Mar 2025Infamous; Mean Girls: The Real Regina George Speaks For the First Time00:40:17

Today, we're doing things a little different here on Gratitudeology... we've done an "episode swap" with our pals over at the Campside Media crew and will be bringing you an episode of the show they produce in partnership with Sony, called Infamous. I'm personally a huge fan of the show, and this particular episode is a fun one that may just reframe the way you think about high school...

In this episode, Vanessa and Natalie talk to Zoe Nightingale, the original Regina George, about high school. They also talk to Zoe’s sister, Rosalind Wiseman, a sociologist who wrote Queen Bees and Wannabees, the deeply-researched sociological tome that inspired the movie.

14 Apr 2025Tony Hoffman: Getting Stabbed, Going to Prison, & Going to… the Olympics? How He Changed His Life Through Gratitude00:54:12

On December 13th, 2008, Tony Hoffman was paroled by the California Department of Correction after serving a two-year sentence for a drug-related robbery. While incarcerated, Tony set four goals: Race BMX professionally, go to the Olympics, start a non-profit called the Freewheel Project, and become a professional mental health and substance abuse speaker.

Today, he’s done it all… and so much more.

Tony’s youth was riddled with the dichotomy of athletic success mixed with substance abuse.

During his senior year at Clovis High School he was featured on the cover of BMXer Magazine, and was sponsored by Fox Racing, Spy Sunglasses and Airwalk Shoes.

But eventually, Tony’s mental health eventually deteriorated to a point where he could no longer thrive in sports and he took to life on the streets. He battled addiction, violence, and homelessness, and at one point, was even the victim of a robbery and stabbing.

His life of crime eventually led him to prison… and that’s where everything changed. A chance encounter with an unexpected mentor would change his understanding of spirituality forever, and flip the switch on his outlook on life.

Since parolling from prison, Tony has tirelessly worked towards achieving his goals and the dreams he’d set out for while incarcerated. He raced BMX professionally for several years and continued on to coach Brooke Crain to a 4th place finish at the Rio Olympic Games, accomplishing his dream of going to the Olympics. The Freewheel Project was very successful for many years helping thousands of youth through action sports before moving on to pursuing a very demanding national speaking career. Today Tony is an author, an owner of pH Wellness drug and alcohol treatment facility, and one of the world’s most requested mental health and substance use speakers.

It took a recession, being laid off, and ending an engagement for Stella to hit rock bottom—but in that challenging time (when many would give up) she managed to find her light and start anew… and it inspired her to help the rest of us do the same.

Tune in as she discusses how to rediscover joy in your work, overcome burnout, and use life's toughest moments as stepping stones to a more fulfilling career and a more meaningful life overall.

From playing Annie on stages for children's theaters… to becoming a Heavy Metal radio host… to stepping into her “Fitness Barbie” era…… to becoming one of the most well-known and prolific speakers of our time… yup, it’s safe to say, Jen Gottlieb has done it ALL. And the one thing that underscores her journey… is an unquenchable desire to BE SEEN.

Jen Gottlieb had to lose it all before she could rebuild her dream life from scratch. An international speaker, powerhouse entrepreneur, and co-founder of Super Connector Media, Jen never doubted that she was meant for center stage, but she also never could have predicted the journey that an early passion for theater would take her on. From one leading role in the Broadway National Tour of The Wedding Singer to another on the hit VH1 TV series That Metal Show, Jen realized that achieving what she thought was her purpose had only left her feeling like a stranger to herself.

Before long she knew that it was time to publicly inhabit her most challenging but fulfilling role yet on some of the world’s biggest stages: her true self.

We hear about Jen’s days as a Hooters’ girl (yup, that happened!), the harsh behind-the-scenes realities of touring a Broadway show, how daily ice baths taught her to make fear her friend, the prescient first four words her husband ever said to her, the unexpected night Jerry Seinfeld showed her the power of being seen as a beginner, and how everything had to fall apart before she could build her dream life and become the most authentic and grateful version of herself.

[25:20] Jen begins to explain how she got her start as a public speaker.

[32:04] Jen talks about how she manifested/“created” her husband and ideal relationship.

[43:38] Jen describes her advice to manage fear and find the strength to take action.

[46:17] Jamie asks Jen to talk about her weekly ice plunge and why it’s an important part of her routine.

[52:03] Jen explains the intention of her Instagram “lives” every morning.

[56:32] Jen speaks about her methods before going up on stage for her Keynote Presentations.

KEY TAKEAWAYS:

03 Feb 2025Jessie Buttafuoco | My Mother Was Shot in the Head; The Crime That Came to Define My Family Will Not Define My Life01:01:21

Imagine you’re 9 years old, living your best life. You have what feels like the perfect family. You live in the suburbs. You go to dance classes for fun. Everything is… perfect.

And then… BOOM. A horrific crime throws your family into the center of the biggest true crime saga the nation has ever seen. You go from relative anonymity to having dozens of news stations camped out on your front lawn… all while your parents are nowhere to be seen…

Because one is in the hospital, fighting for her life…

and the other is under suspicion for attempted murder.

This was the life of Jessie Buttafuoco, the daughter of Joey and Mary Jo Buttafuoco… the latter of whom was shot in the face at point blank range by Joey’s underage mistress, Amy Fisher.

Amy would come to be known as “the Long Island Lolita,” and the case would gain global attention. Drew Barrymore and Alyssa Milano would play her in subsequent made-for-TV movies.

It was all… a lot.

And so much of it focused on the wrong person: the perpetrator.

Jessie’s story is one of taking the narrative back, working to see life through a new lens, and helping the public do the same.

She’s appeared on Dr. Oz (2018), was featured in a 2-hour ABC 2020 special titled “Growing up Buttafuoco” (2019), and was a featured speaker on behalf of ABC News for CrimeCon House Arrest. In 2021, she appeared on The Doctors, talking about the mental and emotional effects of her childhood experiences.

Today, she is focused on helping to change the narrative around true crime in the media, and the way victims are portrayed, exploited, and often re-victimized. Our conversation on today’s show sheds a new light on her life, her recovery from addiction, and her plans for the future.

Tune in for a major dose of inspo from a bright light who didn’t let the darkness dim her sparkle.

27 Sep 2024Nev Schulman | How Getting Catfished Taught Me Empathy (FBF)00:45:21

On August 5th, Nev Schulman broke his neck. His C5 and C6. Thankfully, he's expected to make a full recovery.

Nev is many things - the creator of MTV's Catfish, a fan-favorite contestant from Dancing with the Stars, and - most important (to me, anyway) - my friend.

He’s also a past guest on the podcast, so in celebration of Nev’s triumphant recovery journey, please enjoy this re-air of his original episode.

To check-in on Nev’s recovery journey, follow him on Instagram at @nevschulman.

**********

Original Airing April 29, 2024: Television host and producer Nev Schulman is the walking embodiment of one of our ethos here at The Gratitudeology Podcast: turning pain into purpose.

It is, indeed, a fitting location for this free spirit who has been on-the-go for his whole life. Seb’s Bio:

Seb is a best selling author, top keynote speaker and he also loves surfing!

Having ticked off 77 goals from his own list of 100 things to date, Seb shares his constant evolution, learnings and insights with organizations and associations around the world, creating a ripple effect of inspiration, connection and transformation.

Today his journey continues…

Moving countries several times in his formative years, Seb finally found a home in Sydney’s Northern Beaches. Harboring a lack of confidence and self worth, he blended in to most scenes unnoticed but always hoped of finding himself.

Conforming to others expectations, he graduated university with a generic degree before then setting off to backpack the world on a shoestring budget, drifting. A few years into his travels he received a call in the middle of the night; one of his childhood friends, Chris, had tragically passed away. This was the moment Seb realized everything needed to change.

Grabbing a pen and paper, Seb began to write the list of things that he hoped would propel him towards a sense of happiness and purpose in life. This list took the shape of 100 things and it would go on to transform his life forever.

Now 15 years on, Seb’s journey has not only changed his own life, but has gone on to change (and even save) the lives of many people around the world. Based in LA, California, Seb blends masterful storytelling with unique insights and comedy to help individuals and organizations leverage passion as a driving force for mental health, connection and transformation.

18 Nov 2024Anneke Beerten | A Crash Course (literally) in Passion: The Wild Ride of World Champion Cyclist00:38:24

Anneke Beerten is a mountain biking powerhouse. At just 14, she made her childhood dream a reality by going pro and winning World Championships in BMX and 4-Cross. With sponsorships from top brands like GoPro, Oakley, and - our sponsor for today’s episode, Boiron - Anneke’s journey has been nothing short of legendary from the very start.

Growing up in the Netherlands, Anneke was fearless, racing around BMX tracks while her other friends her age were just ditching their training wheels.

After moving to the U.S. to compete professionally, Anneke was living her dream… but one sunny day, driving down a California road, a series of events would take place that would change everything.

Forever.

Today’s episode brings us into the life and mindset of this top athlete, who beat the odds time and time again to remain a champion. From her commitment to wellness, which began as a child when her parents instilled a deep appreciation for homeopathic remedies for those gnarly cycling bruises (thanks Boiron!) – to the optimized mindset she coaches into other athletes today, her path to the top is largely underscored by the idea of turning pain into purpose

Instead of giving up, she used her resilience and mental strength to overcome life’s toughest obstacles. She’s as bad*ss as they come, and this episode will motivate you to chase your purpose or find clarity if you’re feeling stuck.

Jessica’s Bio:

I am a multifaceted force fueled by a good cup of coffee, resilience, joy, and an unyielding drive to make a difference. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother of three, I wear many hats; I'm a speaker, coach, philanthropist, entrepreneur, author, and self-proclaimed live wire. Beyond these titles, my true calling lies in serving others—a natural helper and challenger at heart, embodying the traits of an Enneagram Type 2 and 8.

My journey toward this purposeful path was sparked by profound loss—the passing of my father-in-law and then just 18 months later the  heartbreaking loss of our son, Lewiston. Their departures, one after the other, served as stark reminders of life's fleeting nature. The average person gets 30,000 days to live, their short time with us urged me to go all in and pursue my dreams, regardless of the challenges.

17 Feb 2025Dr Adi. Jaffe | The Day I Woke Up to a SWAT Team… and How it Led Me to Become “Un-Hooked”00:51:18

Adi Jaffe grew up as a privileged kid, first in Israel, then in Southern California. So how did he go from being a “good little jewish boy” (as he describes himself!) to finding himself up with a SWAT team in his face one day after waking up from a crystal-meth and GHB induced haze?

Adi’s story is a cautionary tale of getting caught up in addiction… of trying to “escape” living in reality… of trying to “fit in.” Once he began selling drugs, his life devolved quickly… he went from being a typical college student to finding himself literally banned from Beverly Hills, and living a life he likens to the one depicted in the movie, Scarface. He’s been hogtied and robbed. He found himself carrying a sawed-off shotgun.

His life - to put it simply - was a mess. And it only got worse with that SWAT team, which was followed by an arrest that landed him in jail for over a year.

Fast forward to today: Adi has a beautiful life. He lives with his beautiful wife and adorable children in the Hollywood Hills. He helps people fix their lives, using the Ph.D. he earned from UCLA's top-rated doctoral program in psychology (where he graduated with honors!). He’s a best-selling author with his first book The Abstinence Myth, and just released his second book Unhooked: Free Yourself From Addiction Forever.

So how on earth did this powerhouse move from POINT A to POINT B with such drastic improvement? And could he help YOU do it too?

Tune in to hear the whole story… and why he believes that gratitude played a central role in his transformation and daily glow-up.

Jennifer’s Bio:

Today, with over 18 years in the mortgage industry, Jennifer Hernandez ranks in the top 1% of loan officers nationwide, recognized as the 'Strategic Partner of the Year' by the Women’s Council of Realtors Chicago, is a Top Woman Originator, and holds the #1 position for FHA lending in Illinois. A devoted single mother of four, her life is dedicated to helping people in low-income communities achieve and maintain homeownership, because she herself was once homeless and struggling.

At just nine years old, Chicago native Jennifer Hernandez encountered horrors typically found in fiction – discovering her home unlocked and maliciously vandalized, and all of the blame unfairly placed on her innocent shoulders. This life-changing event marked the beginning of a tumultuous path through parental abandonment, homelessness, early substance use, teen pregnancy, and a deep search for belonging within the gangs of Chicago.

However, from the shadows of adversity, Jennifer has emerged as a testament to the transformative power of both the human and holy spirit. With the help of positive motivation, reclaimed faith, and guided mentorship, Jennifer has channeled the anger and pain of her past into a source of profound personal growth, integrity, and invaluable knowledge.

Jennifer’s combined faith, passions and personal experiences have equipped her with the tools to make a positive impact and contribute not only to the healing of her family for generations to come, but to her own community.

In her memoir, "NO ONE CAN STOP ME BUT ME," Jennifer shares her journey from trauma to recovery, aiming to empower others facing hardships. Her story demonstrates that anyone courageous enough to help themselves can change their narrative and positively impact the lives of those around them.

Today, Jennifer is an expert in:

  • Credit Guidance to rebuild and reestablish your life
  • Home Loan Financing in low to moderate income areas
  • Renovation home loan financing
  • Healing from Trauma
  • Success in Single Motherhood
  • Manifesting the life of your dreams

21 Oct 2024Andre Norman | From Prison to Purpose: One Man's Journey from a 100-Year Maximum Security Sentence... to Harvard University01:01:01

For Andre Norman, it just seemed like the odds were stacked against him.

When he was just a little boy, he got a big dose of reality when the school bus he was riding in was bombarded by people flinging rocks and racial slurs.

From that moment on, he learned to live in survival mode, whether by selling drugs or getting caught up in gang violence. Yet all the while, there were angels... people and moments along his journey that gave him little bits of confidence and hope... and would end up being his catalyst for change.

After being sentenced to over 100 years in a maximum security prison and trudging a dangerous path in and out of solitary confinement, Andre made a life-altering decision to transform himself.

And transform he did...

Today, Andre is a global force for good. Serving as a Global Violence Interrupter for the United Nations, a 3x TEDx speaker, and an Innovation Learning Instructor at the London Business School, Andre didn't stop there... in 2015, Andre got a fellowship at Harvard Law School.

A shining example of gratitude in action, Andre delivers us a dose of hope, inspiration -- and a gentle (much needed) kick-in-the-pants! -- on today's very special episode.

************

[3:14] Andre begins to talk about where he is from and life growing up with an abusive father and how accustomed he became to it

[7:20] Andre is taken out of the ‘dummy’ class and finally given the opportunity to learn when a teacher gives him a chance

[10:55] Andre told he has a gift and is sent to a different high school to practice music, but pressured to choose between his ‘cool’ friends and his trumpet. He gives up the trumpet because he wants friends

[18:10] Andre finally feels like he belongs when he went abroad because he was identified as ‘the American’ rather than all the other hurtful things people called him at home

[24:20] Andre talking about how he was arrested for the first time, seeing all of the kids he was in ‘dummy class’ with in prison, and how he joined a gang

[38:48] Andre telling the story of how he was given the opportunity to attend Harvard

[43:00] Andre tells the story of how he accidentally started practicing Judaism in jail and the life changing lessons he learned

[54:40] Andre tells the story of his experience in Ferguson, how he went to help his friends and made a difference by creating relationships and giving people the opportunity to listen to each other

Key Takeaways

[5:00] Andre reflects on encountering racism for the first time at 8 years old when kids started calling him names and throwing rocks on his way to school

[30:40] Andre reflected on when he finally came to the realization that he was justifying his situation by telling himself he was winning and he had hit rock bottom.

[01:01:15] Andre gives advice on what he would tell to someone who doubts the power of being grateful despite wherever one came from

03 Jun 2024Rabbi Sherre Hirsch | How Nearly Dying Brought Her Back to Life00:27:28

Rabbi Sherre Hirsch has always been eager to push boundaries. As a woman, getting the gig as Rabbi at one of Los Angeles’ biggest Conservative synagogues was not guaranteed. When she got there, the podium she was meant to stand behind was not built for her… figuratively and literally. At 5’2, she had to stand on a box to see over top.

She was never going to acquiesce to what a Rabbi “should” look like. She likes yoga, surfing, the outdoors. She shuns pantyhose.

And most importantly, she believes in all people finding their own connection with religion and spirituality.

Many parts of today’s episode may surprise you – Including the Rabbi’s admission that even her faith is shakable – and what we all can do to stay aligned with our highest sense of spirit and walk through life a little bit lighter.

IN THIS EPISODE:

[00:54] Jamie introduces Rabbi Sherre Hirsch.

[04:15] Sherre talks about her childhood interest in religion, pushing boundaries, & story of becoming a Rabbi.

[09:09] Sherre recounts announcing her pregnancy to the congregation and the realization of the elements in Judaism she wanted to teach.

[10:24] Sherre describes what it was like raising an autistic child.

[15:16] Sherre begins to talk about how her family gained a fifth child in his teens.

[17:45] Sherre explains her heart-attack experience and all of the realizations that came during and after.

[21:14] Sherre talks about antisemitism and reckoning with hate in the world.

[22:05] Sherre describes her shakeable faith and challenging religion during hard times.

[23:52] Sherre explains her personal rituals.

KEY TAKEAWAYS:

[18:06] Sherre on the importance of feeling but also on taking action

[20:53] Sherre’s belief that we should all be engaging with those questions that are “beyond us”

[22:17] Sherre’s perspective is that to stay grounded, believing in God isn’t necessary,

but believing in something other and greater than yourself is.

09 Dec 2024Rewind: Teddi Mellencamp | From Real Housewives to Battling for Her Life00:48:32

Today we're revisiting a past episode with none other than Teddi Mellencamp.

Many people know Teddi Mellencamp as rock n’ roll royalty, the daughter of iconic American musician, John Mellencamp. Others know her as a star from the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Still others know her as the entrepreneur and health coach behind All In by Teddi, or as the host of her #1 iHeart Podcast, Two Ts in a Pod.

What many people don’t know is the side of Teddi that I know… Teddi has been one of my dearest friends since childhood. We grew up riding horses together on the national equestrian show jumping competition circuit, and from it we grew a special bond.

And when I hit rock bottom in my life… Teddi was there for me.

Today on the pod, we “go there” and talk about it all, the good, the bad, and the ugly. Teddi has been through the ringer, from America trying to tear her down during her time on RHOBH, to her battle with Anxiety and Extreme OCD, and eventually to a scary skin cancer journey. 07 Apr 2025(Rewind) Nadia Ali | Dance Music’s Unlikely Superstar Reveals All, and… the Story Behind This Podcast’s Theme Song!01:11:17

If you’re a dance music fan like I am, you may have had your eyes (and ears) on the fact that last month brought us the Ultra Music Festival in Miami. I was actually floored to learn that it was the 25th anniversary of the festival.

Ultra has become THE benchmark for all things EDM - or electronic dance music - so when something special happens during one of the DJ sets… the world is watching.

Well… last week… something special DID happen.

Grammy-nominated dance music legend, Nadia Ali, took to the stage for the first time in 10 years with Alesso… and it. was. everything.

The response from the fans and EDM social media was bananas… and the whole thing was made even more special, because Nadia… is not only a friend, but she has a …very special connection to this podcast...

Every week, people comment on how much they love the theme song for this show. If you’ve been listening and wondering who sings the hauntingly beautiful lyrics… it's Nadia.

Nadia Ali grew up sheltered, sneaking out of her house to hit the nightclubs of New York City in her teens… but not to imbibe, like most kids her age. No, she was there for a different intoxicant: THE MUSIC.

Enamored by rhythm and sound, she vowed that one day it would be her voice emanating from the speakers. What she couldn’t have imagined was that when she finally achieved that dream, it would be SO MUCH BIGGER than she ever could have imagined.

Nadia’s career took her to some incredible places, and she shares her journey and insights today on the show, including her advice for stepping into your greatness and having confidence even when it seems impossible.

And, most excitingly (for us here at the pod, at least!), she’ll fill us in on the story behind the theme song that has taken us all by storm: the beautiful tune called MAZE which opens and closes this very podcast each and every week.

Dr. Nadine’s Bio:

As a 22-year-old, Nadine never could have understood what she was committing to when marrying Jordan Belfort, the fraudulent stockbroker infamously known as the Wolf of Wall Street.

Their eight-year marriage began as a fairytale, filled with romantic dinners, expensive gifts, and lavish parties. But once they were bonded, Jordan’s ‘mask’ began to slip and acts of infidelity, narcissistic abuse, insatiable greed, and uncontrollable drug addiction became Nadine’s living nightmare. Nadine naively believed that their connection was real, and that her love could save him, so she remained trauma-bonded until the pain of their relationship became too much to bear. It would be decades before she realized her story resembled thousands of other women’s relational experiences.

At 30, Nadine packed up her kids and her curtains and left Jordan, relocating to Los Angeles, California.

She began a transformative process of intensive therapy and deep self-reflection, which required facing her pain, admitting, and owning her mistakes, and reconnecting with the authentic self she’d lost due to Jordan’s abuse. Through her own healing, a passion for helping others was born. She returned to school at 39 to become a psychotherapist, and ten years later, graduated with a PhD in Counseling and Somatic Psychology.

Dr. Nae’s private practice quickly flooded with women recounting an all-too-familiar story of abuse with a pathological partner.

Her goal of helping people develop healthy relationships took on a life of its own as she realized that trauma bonds were increasingly prevalent and destroying the lives of hundreds of women. Nadine embarked on a twelve-year journey of learning about domestic violence. She combined her academic background with her experience and that of her patients’, eventually leading her to become an industry expert in narcissistic abuse, trauma bonds, and complex PTSD.

Danny Seo was just 19 years old when the Washington Post wrote an article about him, rhetorically asking their readership: “Is this the next Martha Stewart?” At the time, the comparison felt lofty and overwhelming to Danny… but the reality is, over the past twenty years, Danny has created a new space all his own as a sustainable style expert and eco-living consultant for celebrities and major national media outlets.

Danny shares insider secrets from his recent star-packed trip to Boiron’s French HQ, and why aligning with brands who you believe in is so important in today’s world.

Danny is smart and successful, humble and hilarious… so come along as he spills his secrets to making it BIG in business by doing things on your own terms, and remaining authentic and aligned with your belief systems.
