I'm so grateful to Holly for sharing her story today, I know it wasn't easy for her but she wants to use her voice to educate people.

29 Nov 2020S7 Ep9: The Good Glow with Michaela O'Shaughnessy (Life of a Lady Bear)00:47:51
I'm so excited to speak to Michaela O'Shaughnessy this week. You may know her as Life Of A Lady Bear on Instagram. Michaela is from Galway and moved to New York 6 years ago.

A real Irish success story, Michaela has worked for MTV. Teen Vogue, Glamour and now Instagram.

I really wanted to do a podcast this week that reflected how Irish people abroad may be feeling right now, missing home and unsure what lies ahead for Christmas.

It's been a long year for us all, but everyday I have felt so lucky to have my family just around the corner.

I get messages every week from Irish people living abroad who listen to my podcast - in Australia, Dubai, Canada and the US and i know many of them miss home so much.

I wanted to do something this week to let them know that I hope they are not too lonely and manage to get home this festive season.

Michaela has a fascinating life. She lives on the Upper East Side of New York, she speaks about fellow Irish woman Samantha Barry who hired her and was so supportive.

We speak about the madness of this year, how it made her love New York even more and her advice to people who have a dream.

Rosie's story is really important. It's important for us to know that not all lumps are cancerous, that we need to know what our normal is when it comes to our bodies and most importantly that you shouldn't be afraid to check yourself. Rosie knows she's incredibly lucky and me too and my thoughts this week are with anyone who is having a tough time or waiting for results this week. Rosie also speaks to me about her amazing fundraiser for Crumlin and Temple Street hospitals and her new brand 4thARQ. she tells me all about the reason behind its name and all the hard work she's put into it this year.

This week on The Good Glow podcast I speak to Roseanna Ruane. Roseanna and her daughter Saoirse captured the nation's heart when they appeared on The Late Late Toy Show this year.

After being diagnosed with cancer when she was just 7 years old, Saoirse and her family have been on a very difficult journey over the past year. Not only having to endure 9 months of chemotherapy, Saoirse had to have her leg amputated which was a devastating blow for them all.

It's still very raw, but today Roseanna bravely tells me about what they have been through. She shares her story too, things about her life that she's never discussed publicly before. She tells me her husband Ollie was diagnosed with cancer when he was 30 and how they tried for years to conceive their second daughter Farrah Rose who is turning 2 in January.

Caner didn't take Saoirse's love of life and her beautiful personality. Roseanna tells me how much of a boost the Toy Show gave them, why they decided to give so much of the money raised for Saoirse back to the charities that helped them and how after a very painful year that music has found its way back into their lives.

14 Mar 2021S8 Ep8: The Good Glow with Ciara O'Malley00:45:28
This week I speak to Ciara O'Malley. Ciara and her boyfriend David Gavin moved to Canada from Mayo in 2017. They were childhood sweethearts, madly in love and excited to start a new adventure together. A few months after settling into their new lives, David travelled to a GAA match with his teammates. They stopped at a lake to cool down but tragedy struck when David was pulled under the water and never resurfaced. This is a heartbreaking story but Ciara bravely tells me about what she went through that year as they searched for David's body. This story will be brought to you over two episodes.

21 Mar 2021S8 Ep9: Ciara O'Malley - Part 2 - Searching For David 00:43:18
This week on The Good Glow podcast I continue my conversation with Ciara O'Malley. This is a 2 part episode. Last week Ciara spoke to me about her boyfriend David Gavin. They moved to Canada in 2017 and were settling into their new life in Vancouver. They made lots of friends and David joined a local GAA club. On the weekend of Ciara's birthday David travelled to a game and on the way the team stopped by a lake to cool down. David jumped into the lake, briefly came back up to wave to his friends before he was pulled back under and never resurfaced. Ciara rushed to the lake to help in the search for David and soon she was joined by her family and David's family. We pick up the story days after David went missing. His friends and family have gathered at the lake as they desperately search for his body.

10 Jul 2021S9 Ep7: The Good Glow with Louise Thompson00:51:40
Louise Thompson is my guest on the podcast this week. Wow. Where do I begin? I had no idea what to expect from this conversation. Just after I asked her team if she’d consider speaking to me she announced her pregnancy. Her announcement was so real and so refreshing. She said it wasn’t an easy journey for her, that she was scared, unsure and felt vulnerable.
What I got from Louise during this conversation was more than I ever expected. We hit it off, she opened up and we spoke at length about what she’s been going through and how she navigated her fertility journey. She spoke about healing from being on reality TV for so long (Made In Chelsea) and how she keeps herself well. She really speaks from the heart and there is something so special about her. I hope you enjoy it.

17 Jul 2021S9 Ep8: What Does Mount Everest Sound Like?00:39:03
Damian Browne is a former professional rugby player and adventurer from Galway. Damian has rowed across the Atlantic Ocean and completed many more challenges. This year, climbing Mount Everest was top of his list. A couple of months ago, I started to follow his journey and listen to his podcast, Deep Roots, which he was recording from the mountain. I was so intrigued by his journey and loved listening to him speak about the challenge, his fears and how he felt every day (it sounded like a rollercoaster of emotions). It was one thing for another for Damian, and today he tells me the story in full. It’s fascinating. I asked him what Everest sounded like? His answer gave me GOOSEBUMPS. And just wait until you hear all about the challenge he is taking on next year. He's one incredible person.

Where do I start with the beautiful Anna Lee Dowling. I first came across Anna Lee after a tweet she posted went viral, earlier this year. She tweeted that she was found in a train station in China, and went on to be adopted by Irish parents. I was beyond excited when I reached out and she agreed to be a guest on The Good Glow. Today, Anna Lee tells me how she ended up with the most loving parents in Ireland, her deep rooted connection to China and how revisiting the train station where she was found brought up so many emotions. Anna Lee is a bright young girl who I have no doubt will go on to do wonderful things. Her approach to life and the ups and downs we endure along the way is inspiring.
