Today's episode celebrates one year of the podcast and one year of considering myself a homesteader! Today I reflect on the past year about what I learned and what it means to be a homesteader. I talk about how homesteading is about being self reliant, closing loops in the systems that you take part of, and how it's not for everyone, because it's definitely not cheap up front and takes a lot of time, work and trial and error to be efficient and eventually save money. I also talk about how we choose to homestead because we love food and know the difference that local fresh product makes in our cooking. 10 Jan 2022 | Welcome! Here's an Introduction to my "Homestead" | 00:22:01
Hello and welcome to the very first episode of The Girly Homesteader Podcast! My name is Laura and I live on 7 acres in Xenia Ohio with my husband, 10 chickens and 2 beehives. This episode is an introduction of myself and our homestead to you, along with our goals for this year. I definitely did not grow up as a country girl, but I love the life I live now. I do not consider myself an expert in any way, so the first season and first year of this podcast will be documenting our transition into "true" homesteading life. I'll be sharing with you my homesteading experiments, research, successes and failures. This episode is especially helpful for the beginner homesteader, confirming the fact that you do NOT need tons of acres, tons of animals or a picture perfect garden to consider yourself a homesteader. You didn't even need to grow up with the intention to live this life. LINKS:
