Podcast #1 - Are You A Gifted Neurodivergent?

The Gifted Neurodivergent Podcast is a podcast dedicated to the understanding and cultivating the outside genius found in gifted neurodivergence. In this debut episode it tackles the difference between convergent thinkers and divergent thinkers. A difference that can be defined in a simple test of spatial giftedness. Are you a 2D thinker or a 3D thinker? Listen to this podcast and find out.

Podcast 2 - 100 years of Oppression and the 2D Perspective

In this podcast we cover what it is like to be a 3D thinker in a society that won't let you be one. We also cover what it is like to live in a society that has put everything into 2D thinking, learning and teaching but is now realizing they might just need those pesky 3D+ thinking peeps. That is correct, we are referring to all those deep thinkers they have been oppressing for the last 100 years.  Suddenly society is feeling benevolent and will throw them a bone, maybe even let them come in as 2nd class citizens to work until their hearts give out.  How kind of them!

If you ever felt like nothing is ever in your favor then you are a solid candidate for being a Gifted ND.  Start with episode 1 to find out. Then listen to this podcast to change your entire life perspective.
Tune in next week when we finally deliver the good news.

In this podcast we reference Philosopher John Taylor Gatto.
I recommend the following video if you would like to know more.

People with autism are about 500 times more likely than the general population to have absolute pitch — a savant-like skill that allows an individual to classify pitch completely out of context.
They wrote savant-like because a century of education system wide oppression and  devaluing can't just end with them apologizing for being wrong about the NDs, can it?

Information on this podcast was obtained primarily from the brain of Lillian Skinner and Chat GPT. It if seems like is was nonsense it was AI. If it seems brilliant than it was the human.

Podcast #3 - The 3D Thinker - Giftedness Unrealized

In this podcast we address what it means to be a 3D+ thinker in a world that does not cultivate 3D thinking. We review what makes us gifted, the connection trauma has to increasing our divergent thinking capabilities and the value divergent thinking will have as AI becomes the go to for convergent thinking.

Podcast #4 - Are You A Savant? If You Are A Gifted ND, Most Likely Yes!

Trigger Alert****  I do talk about a childhood trauma experience in this episode. I speak briefly about a domestic violence experience.

On this podcast I talk about how my family's savant skills manifest. I speak of  how intense schedules can prevent the manifestation of our giftedness in the system. I compare and contrast some other savants most people are familiar with. I then ask you to share your savant skills with me.

I am not alone in my belief that there are many more savants than we realize. Just like everything having to do with human intelligence, it is spectrum that everyone falls on. Where do you fall?  Would you like to better understand your savant skills?

If you are interested in talking to me about your savant skills please sign up on my website. I offer a free 20 min. session to discuss your skills and/or see if you are interested in being on the podcast.

Podcast #5 - An Orchid in the Tropics is a Prodigy

In this episode I speak of the book The Orchid and The Dandelion written by W. Thomas Boyce.  I read this book shortly after it first came out. However, it wasn't until I moved to the tropics that I truly understood how powerful the metaphor is. I am not sure even the author understands how amazing orchids are in the tropics. How much they dominate the landscape and how little to zero cultivation is needed for them to blossom into the most beautiful, vibrant, and gigantic flowering plant the tropics has to offer.

I connect this topic to how those with the traits of orchids do well in the settings where life has less system support but is also less hectic. I speak of how prompts activate our Long Term Memory and how we must engage both our conscious and subconscious when learning.  According to Chat GPT the orchid is the only personality type that will thrive in system collapse.  I also mention a wonderful book called Memory Craft by Lynne Kelly.

If you are an orchid this is your chance to really understand how you will function when you find your Goldilocks zone.

Podcast #6 - The Orchid (Echoist) and the Oleander (Narcissist)

On this podcast I talk about the Orchid who is typically an Echoist and the Oleander who is always a Narcissist.  The Oleander is lovely flowering plant that grows in warm climates, it is considered invasive in the USA, and it is also toxic.

If you are not familiar with the term Echoist you will be after listening to this podcast. Echoists are the opposite of the Highly Sensitive Narcissist. I talk about how I healed from growing up surrounded by narcissists that formed my echoism . I reference the excellent book by written by Christopher Lasch in 1979, The Culture of Narcissism.

Check out the You Tube post below if you would like more information on this book.
 https://youtu.be/6dR2ghd8rmg

I also talk about how our capitalistic culture cultivates narcissism and conditions Empaths into becoming Echoists, who support narcissists at the expense of realizing their own full potential.

15 Apr 2023The Importance of Mirroring for Gifted Neurodivergents00:19:08

Send us a text

Podcast # 7 - The Importance of Mirroring for Gifted Neurodivergents

In this podcast we talk about how rare it is for Gifted Neurodivergents to get the proper mirroring they need to develop healthy self esteem.

We are rare and because of this we have fewer opportunities to really connect with others like us. Additionally, our system actively works against our ability to connect with others like us. They divide our sensitive children because they are having to much fun together, choose the same person too often, and/or play with each other with too much enthusiasm.

The lack of healthy mirroring holds back the smartest and most sensitive because it:

  • prevents us from understanding what our "normal" really is.
  • prevents us from finding those who return emotions and connections as deeply as we give.
  • prevents the full cultivation of our social, emotional, and intellectual giftedness.

Our society is currently experiencing a friendship recession, particularly amongst its youngest members. The results of which can be horrifying. The value of friends is immeasurable. In friendships we often find the one place in our society where everyone can truly experience unconditional love. Without unconditional love we can never fully heal from all the trauma the world heaps on us.

Podcast #8 - The Higher Abilities of Neurodivergence

This podcast is the first of a series where I will cover the higher abilities often found in gifted neurodivergence. We are the outliers. We are born wired for higher abilities in certain areas fed by inputs from our higher sensing.

In this podcast I cover our big picture skills and higher abilities in contextualization. I cover how our system not only does not cultivate these skills but how it uses them against us. I also cover how we are uniquely formed to cultivate ourselves and each other.

Podcast #9 Using your Higher Abilities to Create an AI Prompt Writing Career.

This week we address how our higher and deeper context will help us thrive in the AI revolution. I interview Michael Strauss, a career AI professional, who started working with AI development in the last century (1999). Check out his bio on the Gifted ND webpage.

Michael addresses the hype behind AI, gives a realistic view of what AI is and how we can use our higher sensing abilities to take find or make opportunity in the AI revolution. We also discuss how to get started using AI and the value of AI for self-education for those of us who have long been left to educate ourselves in a system that does not recognize our intelligence.

Unlike the mass media we are optimistic about a future with AI technology, especially for the Gifted Neurodivergent population. We recognize that for many AI will not be boon. But, for this demographic it will be the  opportunity we been seeking for many lifetimes.

If you have questions, feedback, or ideas for topics that you would like us to address please contact us at info@giftednd.com. Or click on the link below to go to the Gifted ND webpage

We will have Michael back many more times, so please send us topics you would like him to discuss in the areas of math and science and how we can succeed in these fields as Gifted Neurodivergents.

Podcast #10 Our Higher Abilities in Relationships

This week's our topic of discussion is relationships, and unfortunately, there is a widespread misconception that neurodivergent individuals struggle in this area. However, this could not be further from the truth. In fact, empathic individuals, or "Orchids," who are neurodivergent, make exceptional partners in relationships. Both men and women who are in a relationship with a neurodivergent individual, provided that the neurodivergent person is not a narcissist, often have nothing but praise for their partners.

Gifted Neurodivergents in love share a special kind of bond that can only be described as awe-inspiring. This type of relationship goes beyond physical appearance or financial status. It is rooted in unconditional love, and it feels as natural as breathing. It is a relationship that provides stability, trust, and security, and negative emotions are replaced by positive emotions that dominate the partnership.

If you have ever met a couple who may appear physically mismatched but are deeply in love, you may have unknowingly encountered a pair of gifted neurodivergents. In this podcast, I reference a video on "Earning Your Parents Love," which can be found at https://youtu.be/bELfHs1kaQA. Podcast #11 Gifted Neurodivergent's Higher Abilities in Social Intelligence

In this podcast I continue to discuss the higher abilities found in Gifted Neurodivergence. I disagree with anyone that claims we are socially inept. I believe what we really are is socially more aware. We live in a society where everyone is strongly influenced to stay within the boundaries laid down in our childhood conditioning. Because we are less able to be conditioned, we will stick out as different.

I share a new theory I have on the real value of the labels we are given for learning disabilities or differences. That these labels can be valuable because they indicate how I encode information to my long-term memory. When I see them simply as differences, they can be used to show me how I learn. I also believe that my mood disorders are the opposite side of the spectrum for learning disorders/differences. Mood disorders are how I retrieve information from my long-term memory. My moods deliver the sensory information of the situation I am in.

When I worked for others my moods very clearly communicated that I was not being told the whole picture and I had to worry about the something that could result in a change to my future stability. My moods delivered information that was overwhelmingly accurate.

I am not an expert, I am not credentialed by the system on neurodivergence. I am a certified futurist, independent researcher of gifted neurodivergence, former techie, parents of gifted neurodivergent children and a gifted neurodivergent myself. The experiences that I am sharing may not reflect how your brain works or how you move through the world. I am sharing them with the hope that they will be a benefit to you, and you might consider returning the favor and sharing with me how you move through the world. The only way we can know how we really work is if we share what we notice about how we are uniquely wired to move through the world.

29 May 2023Gifted NDs' Higher Abilities in Emotional Intelligence00:48:00

Podcast #12 - The Higher Abilities of Neurodivergence in Emotional Intelligence

In this podcast I cover Emotional Intelligence (EI). EI has been co-opted by our workplaces. EI should focus on you and how you use your emotions to navigate the your life. EI should focus on how you use your emotions to better understand the world around you. EI should focus on getting you to the best place you can be for you. Instead we have made it into another Narcissistic tool to control those of us with higher empathy. However, the Gifted Neurodivergents (NDs) are born with enhanced EI functioning. Gifted NDs possess Embodied Cognition.  Our science recognizes that children and animals have this ability. But it claims adults have two separate kinds of intelligence, EI and CI (Cognitive Intelligence).

My emotions and intellect work as one. I have embodied cognition. It is not a bad thing. It is a great thing. It is an advantage that will be highly valued in our near future. I believe many neurodivergents posses this and it keeps us from ever being fully conditioned by our system. It will also be a huge benefit as the amount of change in the world start to increase. We will be apart of the few who will be able to get ahead of what is coming if we embrace our embodied cognition.

In this podcast I reference the book, A Primate's Memoir by Robert Sapolsky
 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Primate%27s_Memoir

A great set of articles can be found on Neuroclastic explaining why people with autism can not be indoctrinated.

Here's how the recognition of emotions can relate to the highs and lows associated with emotional intelligence in the context of Brené Brown's books:

"The Gifts of Imperfection: Let Go of Who You Think You're Supposed to Be and Embrace Who You Are":

  • Low Development: Difficulty recognizing and accepting one's own emotions, particularly difficult or uncomfortable ones like shame or vulnerability. May suppress or ignore emotions, leading to disconnection and lack of self-acceptance.
  • High Development: Increased awareness and recognition of emotions, including difficult ones. Able to acknowledge and accept a wide range of emotions, cultivating self-compassion and authenticity.

"Daring Greatly: How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead":

  • Low Development: Limited understanding and recognition of others' emotions, leading to challenges in empathy and connection. Difficulty in perceiving and responding to the emotional needs of others.
  • High Development: Heightened empathy and emotional recognition of others. Able to attune to and understand others' emotions, facilitating deeper connections and meaningful relationships.

"Rising Strong: How the Ability to Reset Transforms the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead":

  • Low Development: Struggles with recognizing and processing emotions associated with failure or setbacks. May have difficulty identifying and expressing emotions, hindering the ability to learn and grow from experiences.
  • High Development: Enhanced capacity to recognize and navigate emotions related to failure or setbacks. Can effectively process and regulate emotions, allowing for reflection, learning, and resilience.

"Braving the Wilderness: The Quest for True Belonging and the Courage to Stand Alone":

  • Low Development: Limited emotional awareness and recognition of the impact of social dynamics on emotions.

08 Jun 2023There is Power in Authenticity00:19:04

Send us a text

In this episode, we tackle authenticity. When you live life without authenticity, you leave behind higher access to your subconscious. Authenticity is the first step for connecting your thinking and feeling to access the genius potential each gifted neurodivergent has.

Authenticity is easier once you find a place in the world that allows you to be you—the you that doesn't care what others think, the you that doesn't care what others do. Because you are surrounded by those who respect and appreciate you.

Why would anyone not want you to be authentic? Because they want to prevent you from accessing the big picture, they want to keep you from accessing your full potential. They want to keep you trapped serving everyone but yourself.

For gifted neurodivergents, living authentically is the first step in your journey of positive disintegration. Find out in this podcast how the USA went from an authentic culture to a culture of group-think and how leaving that behind will put you ahead now and for the future.

16 Jun 2023Gifted ND's Higher Abilities in Creative Intelligence00:27:40

Send us a text

This podcast marks the first part of a series that will explore the connection between the creative intelligence and spatial intelligence of gifted neurodivergents.

We, the advanced multidimensional thinkers, have had our abilities stripped away due to the denial of emotions in the learning process. This loss has affected everyone, but it is the gifted neurodivergents who have suffered the most.

On your journey, you must understand the significance of your emotions in comprehending the bigger picture. Your emotions are not adversaries; rather, they deliver your genius insights and ingenuity. By harnessing them to your advantage, you unlock your full potential and perceive the world with a clarity previously unimaginable.

This podcast deserves your attention above all others.

20 Jun 2023ND Executive Management Dysfunction Debunked00:26:43

Send us a text

In this podcast, I aim to challenge the notion of Executive Management Dysfunction and flip it on its head. It's crucial for you to understand that it is not you who is broken, but rather the system that is broken.

The current system in place was designed to stifle creativity, which poses a challenge for Gifted Neurodivergents who resist conforming to it. This is why we face difficulties within the system. Instead of merely regurgitating information, you are wired to create something new. The system is lagging behind the demands of our rapidly approaching future, while you are ahead of the curve. Thus, you should not be the one forced to change.

Your creativity holds immense value in today's world. At a time when creativity is more crucial than ever, your unique perspective and creative abilities are essential in driving innovation and progress. By embracing and staying true to your creative nature, you can achieve success and inspire others to recognize and appreciate the significance of all neurodivergent individuals in our swiftly evolving world.

27 Jun 2023The Secret to Savant Learning and ND Creativity00:36:16

Send us a text

On this podcast, I want to share with you how the concept of savant focus operates differently from what our conventional system suggests, and why this is actually a wonderful thing.

First and foremost, there is absolutely nothing wrong with neurodivergent learning, thinking, or simply being. In fact, there is an incredible amount of untapped brilliance within it. When we delve into the understanding of how we learn, suddenly our distinct focus starts to make perfect sense. Our inclination towards chaos, jumping from one project to another without completing them, and our heightened need for downtime to process and create all become logical.

To illustrate this point, I reference the artistic savant Stephan Wiltshire as an example. By exploring the similarities between the savant brain and the neurodivergent brain, I aim to demonstrate that they are essentially one and the same. This podcast is packed with information that will revolutionize our perception of giftedness and shed light on the importance of embracing and harnessing the full potential of neurodivergence.

08 Jul 2023The Purpose of Overexcitabilities and Synesthesia. A Novel Theory00:30:23

Send us a text

In this podcast, we delve into a new theory—my theory—regarding the purpose of overexcitabilities and synesthesia. I provide a big picture, top down perspective on the value and purpose of overexcitabilities and synesthesia.

The current definition of overexcitabilities acknowledges that they involve heightened responsiveness and sensitivity in various domains of human experience, it doesn't provide a comprehensive explanation on why. Nor does it explain why some individuals, particularly neurodivergent people, have these traits while others do not.

The current definition of synesthesia identifies it neurological phenomenon in which the stimulation of one sensory or cognitive pathway involuntarily and automatically leads to experiences in a different sensory or cognitive pathway. In simpler terms, it's a condition in which the senses mix or cross over each other. Again science has defined it without explaining it's purpose and why some individuals, particularly neurodivergent people, have this trait while others do not.

Many of us with overexcitabilities have spent a significant portion of our lives trying to suppress them, which only resulted in exhaustion, burnout, and avoidance of the areas where we were most gifted. This not only hampers the development of individuals who are outliers but also holds back everyone from pursuing their true passions and talents. With Synesthesia we have only recently been able to open up and talk about them without being labeled insane.

If we truly desire to tap into the brilliance of unconventional thinkers, we must let go of the notion that being "extra" or having heightened sensitivities is a negative attribute. By doing so, we can unlock the potential of individuals and foster an environment where everyone is free to pursue what they love and excel in their unique abilities. If this episode resonates with you, I invite you to reach out via email and share your experiences with synesthesia or overexcitabilities at info@giftednd.com.

18 Jul 2023Higher Sensitivity is the Future00:31:06

Send us a text

Being highly sensitive has both negative and positive aspects. However, we haven't been taught how to utilize our heightened sensitivity to navigate the world more effectively. But that is about to change. We must now learn.

With an increasing number of "1000-year weather events" that defy statistical explanations as mere anomalies, we can no longer deny the changing nature of our world. It is changing, and unfortunately, not in our favor. We are confronted with the realization that the weather and our ability to survive it may be far more terrifying than dealing with an old narcissistic boss. We may finally understand why our ancestors believed that angry gods controlled the weather.

Most of us have been stripped of the knowledge about the incredible gifts that accompany our heightened sensing. We have been taught to devalue and perceive it as a weakness. However, science has consistently shown that "the meek will inherit the Earth," and by "meek," they mean the highly sensitive. Nature consistently selects for intelligence and heightened sensitivity above all else.

It is time to reframe how we view our heightened sensitivity. It is not just something some of us have to contend with; it is something all of us will need to survive.

25 Jul 2023How Shame Destroys Giftedness00:42:08

Send us a text

In this podcast, I discuss how shame can undermine the giftedness of neurodivergent individuals. Our entire system fosters a culture of shame, which drives capitalistic over consumption. The system is designed to instill shame in its citizens, encouraging comparison and competition instead of connection. For the most sensitive among us, this experience can be truly debilitating. To break this harmful trend, we must educate ourselves about shame and take action to stop it in its tracks. Our future hinges on our ability to nurture and support the sensitive individuals, as they are best equipped to address the rapid changes we face. Their creativity and ingenuity are essential in developing the innovative solutions we need to survive in a world where mother nature poses significant threats. We cannot afford to let another day pass without confronting shame and safeguarding the well-being of the most sensitive individuals.

30 Jul 2023Reframing Rumination and Procrastination. It's Spatial Giftedness00:20:01

Send us a text

It's the 20th episode of The Gifted Neurodivergent Podcast. Yay!!! (Excessive Self Back Patting Session.) Alright, enough of that, now onto the podcast topic.

"In this episode, I reframe the negative perspectives we have been told about procrastination and rumination. I have been told for most of my life that it was some moral failing that caused this in me. More recently, other theories came up that this was emotionally driven, as if my emotions were the issue. I don't believe any of it, not even for one moment. Why? Because my brain simply sees this as an extension of my spatial giftedness.

You know the saying: the simplest reason is the most likely one. Here, then, is the simplest reason. My brain is spatially gifted. Because of this, I see many perspectives. My brain creates complex patterns of people and my interactions with them in multiple dimensions—as many dimensions as I have sensing. I know that my ruminating is my brain adding my sensing data to the memory of the initial interaction I had. I know because my sensitive brain is aware of the memory as the extra data is added. I can watch my memories become more complete while I gain a deeper understanding of the context of the interaction. Procrastination is the other side of the same spatial giftedness coin. Procrastination is my way of creating with those multiple perspectives that I have stored as patterns. Everything I have ever created, I first modeled in my mind's eyes before I created it in real life. That does not mean I don't also learn while I create in real life. It just means I do it in both manners.

Are you like me? Could your understanding of your spatial giftedness reflect mine?
Find out when you listen to this podcast."

09 Aug 2023What Drives the Communication Gap between ND and NT? Spatial Giftedness!00:38:04

Send us a text

In this podcast I cover what drives the difference between communication styles of the neurodivergent (ND) and neurotypical (NT). Once again it is spatial giftedness that drives this difference. The ND's spatial giftedness requires a greater understanding and level of detail because they create mental models of the world around them. Their brains build such complexity they simply can not be assimilated into the mass culture due to their unique and detailed way of learning. This also prevents them from seeking communication on a superficial level. Their communication is driven by their emotions and need to learn and grow.

16 Aug 2023Unleashing the Creative Genius and Multi-Potentiality00:53:59

Send us a text

Prepare to have your perception of neurodivergence, creativity, and multi-potentiality completely transformed! We're going on an enlightening journey that will change how you see and interact with the world around you. We'll be exploring the power of spatial giftedness as a driving force in multi-potentiality. And even more! we'll be discovering why our world seems to only reward small picture giftedness, denying creatives the chance to fully shine.

Here's a provoking thought: What if our traditional education systems are hindering our children's creative genius rather than nurturing it? Let's dive into the world of individualized homeschooling and discover how it can free our children to learn in their own unique ways, allowing their creativity and intelligence to fully bloom. Plus, we'll investigate the true essence of non-linear thinking and its immense power. Get ready to understand why the typical late nights and early mornings may not be everyone's ideal creative space, and how your brain wiring could actually be your latent creative advantage.

Finally, we'll challenge societal norms and biases, revealing the importance of unconditioning ourselves to truly unlock our creative genius. We'll discuss intuition as a guiding force, the marginalization of individuals and their unique talents by oppressive systems, and the power of embracing individual potential. So, let's redefine the understanding of neurodivergence, multi-potentiality, and creativity together. This is not just another podcast episode; it's an adventure of self-discovery and an exploration of the extraordinary potential within us.

30 Aug 2023The Gifted ND Career Path00:28:11

Send us a text

The Gifted ND career path is not an easy one. In the system, we are marginalized. We are not allowed to learn in the manner we naturally learn. We are not allowed to work in the manner we naturally work. We are not allowed to create in the manner we naturally create. This exhausts us mentally and emotionally. We end up disillusioned, mentally and physically damaged and we all to often die younger for it.

In the past, we left the system for self-employment, coming in as outside consultants, specialists, and subject matter experts. But this is increasingly becoming harder to do. In order to compete with large companies and their substantial advertising budgets, we must become one ourselves. I propose we create a guild, a guild that will represent our creative best interests. Much like SAG (The Screen Actors Guild), we must create one for Gifted Neurodivergent intellectuals and artists alike. Only then will we finally be able to have the power that allows us to live and function in a healthy manner. We need an organization that recognizes our different ways of being and doing, one that provides us with basic human needs such as insurance, supports living wages for us, and protects our right to a work-life balance. We keep hearing that creativity is the future, but it won't be for those most creative unless we figure out how we function best and start making sure we are allowed the space to do so. We have been separated from each other for far to long. Now is the time to change that.

08 Sep 2023Introspection Cultivates Your Giftedness00:22:28

Send us a text

Introspection is biggest indicator of spatial giftedness. How do I know this? I know because it the embodiment of my spatial giftedness in action. The ability to see all those different perspectives in whatever area you are gifted is spatial giftedness being honed and strengthened.

But, we live in a society that doesn't recognize it as having any value or purpose. Instead we are forced to focus on the outside perspective to such a degree we loose touch with your own natural perspective and pervert our introspection to only focus on the average perspective at the expense of our mental and physical health. Leaving us without self actualization and the ability to see ourselves as who we really are to ourselves and others. The more of an outlier you are the more this occurs.

19 Sep 2023Use the Future of Education Now!00:30:05

Send us a text

If you read about the projected future of education it seems like we will have finally created the ideal learning environment sometime within the next 100 years. An education that focuses on the individual and how they learn. One that uses their strengths to cultivate all their abilities.  A system that will make learning a joy.

It sounds ideal. But I am not holding my breathe. My experience with the our education system shows a system more interested in conditioning rather than educating. I don't know why this would change. I don't know why it already hasn't. So I propose we simply make this learning environment for ourselves right now.

I did it and you can do it too. It is not that hard. Technology makes it very easy. The information on how to do this is freely available. If you are a gifted neurodivergent or parent of one you have the ideal candidate for a successful outcome for this effort.

We have so many things working against us in the current education system. They have labeled us in recognition that we learn differently. Yet they refuse to change to accommodate those differences. Their labels have meanings and they are not kind or constructive. They hurt rather than help.  We are labeled as disabled. It's the same as saying we are broken or defective, when the opposite is true. We are the spatially gifted. We have more to offer not less. Why put yourself or your children through that. This is your chance to learn how to change that.

I made an error when I mentioned the CEO of Ford's UAW interview. She is actually the CEO of GM.  Here is the video.

Did you know there are 2 types of intuition?

I first discovered this when I read the book Thinking Fast and Slow. A book I promptly chucked across the room because it violated all of my sensibilities. But it also kept me trying to understand why my intuition worked so well now and didn't work so well when I was a kid. I figured it out and now you can too.

11 Oct 2023Unmasking Higher Sensing Driven Giftedness00:24:42

Send us a text

We have an educational and medical system deeply rooted in the behaviorism model of psychology, a methodology pioneered by B.F. Skinner. Regrettably, our education system is more inclined toward training and conditioning rather than true education. Thanks to Skinner's influence, we've all been shaped by a system that assumes uniformity and expects us to learn prescribed information and conform to predefined roles.

In neurodivergent communities, I often inquire why we continue to strive for integration into a system and society that doesn't truly embrace us. With our heightened sensory perception, we are uniquely equipped for the future, but our society neglects to nurture or comprehend these abilities.

Our future is poised for significant changes across economic, ecological, and technological landscapes, yet we persist in adhering to outdated educational paradigms that ill-prepare us for what lies ahead. I find this approach illogical. I believe we must explore the full extent of human potential. We've trained animals to utilize their senses for our protection and care. Why aren't we doing the same for ourselves?

19 Oct 2023Even "Normal" Is Now Dysfunctional00:23:35

Send us a text

We have come full circle. I have been saying that the creatives will be the future for a while. Every day, I see more people joining me in this perspective. To the extent that even 'normal' is being questioned in how it navigates the world. 'Normal' is being called dysfunctional in some situations. But if 'normal' is now considered dysfunctional, what is 'functional'? What criteria are they using to distinguish good functioning from bad functioning?

Perhaps that is the wrong question. Maybe I should be asking whether there ever was one and, if so, what was it?

It appears the focus on deficits is increasing. No one seems to have a clear message on how to address it. There is just an abundance of information on how not to address it.

This is a positive development for the spatially gifted because there is a void emerging regarding what steps to take next and who to follow. Everyone is realizing that there might not be a leader who knows what to do as things deteriorate. I believe we are those leaders, and we should step up to this opportunity to lead. We understand what struggle feels like. We comprehend how challenging it is to function in an environment that is working against us. We are the most sensitive, which means we are the most prepared."

24 Oct 2023Interview with a Creative - A Young Multipotential Polyglot00:48:59

Send us a text

We rarely get a glimpse into what it looks like to be a healthy creative. But here is such an opportunity. Allow me to introduce Abby, a young polyglot.

Abby is a Korean interpreter who decided she wanted to learn Korean. She achieved this without taking any formal classes or using a language app. In just six months, Abby became a proficient interpreter.

She's accomplishing this in an era when most people are relying on AI for translation. However, Abby possesses something that AI lacks—emotions and the ability to perceive nuances in a way that AI cannot. Abby has also embarked on learning Japanese and hopes to become an interpreter for that language as well. In addition to her linguistic talents, Abby plays multiple musical instruments, sings, composes music, and is a working artist. She's currently attending college and has a strong affinity for the humanities. Abby is truly amazing.

Abby openly acknowledges that she doesn't quite fit into the conventional mold. She grapples with her sensitivity and can sometimes become overwhelmed. Fortunately, her brothers share a similar disposition, and her mother, recognizing their challenges, chose to homeschool them. Abby was nurtured in an environment that allowed her to grow into the person she was meant to be – beautiful, talented, sensitive, and kind in every way.

30 Oct 2023Triangular Learning and Thinking Drives Our Creative Intelligence00:31:36

Send us a text

In this episode, I delve into the concept of Creative Intelligence. Our current educational systems predominantly emphasize a linear approach to learning and thinking. However, individuals with gifted neurodivergence leverage their sensing intelligence to branch out from the linear learning path and subsequently connect these branches back to the main path, thus fostering novel thinking. This phenomenon is what we refer to as creative intelligence.

Unfortunately, creative intelligence is not effectively nurtured within our existing educational systems. These systems are structured in a way that inhibits the development of sensing intelligence. Students are often confined to dull classrooms, instructed to keep their hands in their laps and maintain a forward-facing posture. Moreover, the teaching pace is typically slow and lacks the flexibility to accommodate individualized learning or in-depth exploration. Subjects are taught in isolation, devoid of their broader context, resulting in a significant reduction in the student's cognitive potential. Consequently, students tend to become mere tools for their teachers or employers, gradually losing their capacity for autonomy and the ability to forge their unique path in the world.

By exploring the interconnected facets of our knowledge through the triangle links of understanding, we can unlock innovative concepts that have the potential to reshape the world.

10 Nov 2023Extrinsic vs. Intrinsic Burnout00:25:43

Send us a text

If you have not yet noticed, I see the world in 2 flavors - Extrinsic or Intrinsic.

Extrinsic burnout is like everything else extrinsic; it is externally driven.
Intrinsic burnout is, like everything else intrinsic, internally driven.

Extrinsic burnout can literally kill you. It is the kind driven by everyone around you, and if you have reached burnout, it is obviously to your detriment. We know we have hit it when you return from vacation and don't feel relaxed at all. Instead, you feel like you spent the entire vacation dreading your return. This is not healthy! It will slowly and painfully kill you!

Intrinsic burnout is a warning. It is your body and emotions coming together to let you know you've pushed them too far. Now, it is time to take a break and recover. You will do this because you want to come back to it, and you know rest is needed. Your time off will renew your energy, and going back will be a joy."

"Find out which one you are buried under and which one will set you free. Never mind; I know you can figure that part out. Find out how you need to change your life to reach your outside genius.

16 Nov 2023Interview with a Creative Writer - Joanna Acevado00:37:10

Send us a text

Until AI became mainstream this year, I had to rely heavily on writing coaches. Why? Because my brain operates differently, making it challenging to pinpoint the best perspective form the multitude my brain offers simultaneously each time I attempt to communicate through writing.

My spatially gifted savant brains has one gift. The gift of perspective taking, so much so it is nearly always overwhelming me. I can see things from the viewpoints of everyone I've met—understand their thoughts, navigate their worlds through various lenses like professions, historical periods, talents, neurodiversity, and sexual identity. When emotions merge with these perspectives, it exponentially expands the ways I perceive how different brains influence thoughts and actions.

I'm certain I'm not the only creative or neurodivergent thinker capable of this. My also children possess this skill. It drives their exceptional self-learning ability. I recommend that fellow neurodivergents struggling with this seek guidance from coaches to navigate their learning journey. Even neurotypicals probably should consider this too.

Frankly, the one-size-fits-all approach to learning is terrible. It's not genuine learning; it's conditioning. My struggle with schooling wasn't about learning—it was having so many perspectives when we are only allowed to have one, their chosen one. This forced me into to self-teach everything I desired or needed to know. The issue lies in systems built upon the assumption that there are only two answers to every question. It's astonishing how people claim autistics have they are simply reacting to the very clear black-and-white thinking enforced by our systems and hierarchies. Which offer only a 1 right and all others wrong option for understanding. Especially if you are someone with heightened senses who is very aware there's so more complexity.

Among the coaches I worked with, Joanna stood out. She didn't dictate how I should write; instead, she allowed me to explore how she approached it. I learned from her that a creative's highs, lows, or overexcitabilities serve as intrinsic guides, providing the energy and perspective necessary to convey the intended message.

This podcast is the first of two focusing on overexcitabilities and their link to the development of our outside genius. This episode is an interview, while the second delves into how overexcitabilities can serve as a direct measure of intelligence, nurturing the various perspectives forming the bedrock of our creative intellect.

24 Nov 2023How Overexcitabilites Foster Gifted Knowing00:33:08

Send us a text

This episode will offer you an entirely new perspective on the value and purpose of our overexcitabilities.

While many are familiar with Dabrowski's Positive Disintegration Theory and its associated overexcitabilities, the way it is commonly presented lacks practical relevance for individuals living with high overexcitabilities.

I have found the research on overexcitabilities to be deficient, describing them from an external standpoint and treating them as almost optional. This mischaracterization overlooks their true nature and the significant role they play in contributing to our giftedness. Understanding our overexcitabilities is key to unlocking and maximizing our gifted potential. It allows us to comprehend how heightened sensitivity generates more inputs, and our overexcitabilities process these inputs to cultivate knowledge.

I have yet to encounter any representation that captures the experience of being a gifted neurodivergent individual as I have lived it. It is evident to me that there is a distinct purpose behind how my sensitivity and overexcitabilities function and how they drive my gifted knowing, and I can't fathom why this insight is not more widely available.

I strongly believe that suppressing our overexcitabilities is a root cause of many mental illnesses and chronic conditions prevalent in our society, as well as a reason why genius seems to be missing. I think we have built a myth around giftedness and how it works. I did not choose to positively disintegrate but was rather compelled towards positive disintegration as a matter of survival.

I delve into how heightened sensitivity-driven giftedness provides us with unique perspectives that will fuel the development of humanity with the latest versions of CHAT GPT 4/5. I also express concerns about the potential misuse of this technology by individuals without good intentions.

05 Dec 2023Proof That Learning Disorders Are A System Construct00:44:21

Send us a text

This episode is the third and final podcast of the "Overexcitabilities" series.

In the last podcast, I shared how my overexcitabilities played a crucial role in fostering my learning. They emerged when I was either exhausted or excited to aid me in subconscious or immersive learning. In this podcast, I delve into the challenges posed by overexcitabilities in the classroom. I illustrate how teachers and educational systems suppress highly sensitive learners, actively hindering their potential growth. I highlight the disregard of current scientific data around the needs of profoundly gifted students, subjecting them to standards they simply cannot sustain and a learning environment that prevents them from learning.

In a straightforward manner, I demonstrate how our educational systems can break the brightest and most sensitive children. Even those, like myself, who were mild-mannered and exhibited limited psychomotor overexcitabilities.

Using 20 classroom rules of conduct that are found in a typical elementary classroom (in the USA) I illustrate how 19 of these rules appear almost perfectly designed to stifle the learning experiences of those with high sensing intelligence. I discuss the different focus of creatives (the highest sensing) and how this distinction is used against them in traditional classroom settings. The combination of the classroom environment and teaching methods often forces twice-exceptional (2e) and gifted sensing intelligent children to exert much more effort than their peers. This creates a situation where these children are pushed into a state of overexcitabilities every day, only to be repeatedly punished and demeaned for their inability to control their behavior.

I propose redefining "2e" (twice exceptional) from its current meaning—learning differently and cognitively gifted—to giftedness in both sensing and cognition. I argue that the reason our systems struggle to accurately test 2e intelligence in their most gifted areas is that the IQ of these individuals falls above the testing range of our quantitative tests, which typically tops out at a 145 IQ. The hard is simple and simple is hard rule for autism indicates complex spatial giftedness that is going uncultivated by our current system. I believe the key distinction between 2e giftedness and "normal" giftedness lies in the sensing intelligence.

I posit that our current system definition of giftedness is confined to cognitive intelligence and introduce a giftedness found in sensing intelligence (higher sensing) that can manifest without high cognitive giftedness. I specifically identify this giftedness in individuals with high empathy but I believe it occurs in various other ways as well. Ways I have discussed in previous episodes of this podcast and ways that I plan to explore in future podcasts. I advocate for recognizing high sensitivity as a form of giftedness, just as much as high cognitive giftedness, and stress the importance of cultivating creative education with every available tool.

27 Dec 2023Interview with a Researcher of Profound Giftedness - Dr. Linda Silverman00:44:36

Send us a text

Gifted Neurodivergent Podcast
Dr. Linda Silverman's Notes
December 13, 2023
1. Variation of ways I have seen spatial giftedness manifest.
All endeavors in which the right hemisphere has major involvement.
Creativity
Imagination
Intuition
Empathy
Mathematical and scientific interests
Big picture thinkers in all fields
Thinking outside the box
The ability to predict trends
Understanding customer needs
Design
Fine arts
Photographic memory
Spiritual awareness
The ability to grasp non-duality
Psychic ability
2. In how many areas does spatial giftedness manifest?
Countless
3. What are the highest and lowest manifestations of math, music and emotions?
In mathematics, the highest manifestation might be grasping the mathematics of the universe.
The lowest might be an attraction to numbers and counting.
In music, the highest manifestation might be the ability to compose inspiring music.
The lowest might be appreciation of music.
In emotions, the highest manifestation might be the ability to deeply feel what others are feeling.
The lowest might be emotional intensity without the ability to direct it compassionately.
4. Life-changing aspects of spatial abilities.
As visual-spatial abilities are innate, they are part of the life path of the individual. VSLs see the
world differently from birth. As they are capable of going beyond duality, they are likely to forge
unusual lifestyles, outside the norms of society (e.g., bisexuality, being nonbinary, etc.). Their
sharp intuitive abilities also make them excellent salespersons.
5. What were my first indications that things were not as the education and medical system
said they were?
One of my earliest memories, at around the age of 4, was hearing my older sister say to our
parents, “You made me the way I am!” “I didn’t ask to be born!” I was certain that she was
wrong. I knew that we create our own realities. At 19, I married a man who became a psychic

healer. I lived with miracles. Once I told my Statistics instructor that I didn’t believe in chance.
Education tends to be highly competitive, and the prevailing viewpoints on giftedness are highly
competitive. I have always believed that each of us has a unique mission, and that we don’t
compete with anyone for our destiny. As for medicine, many doctors seed fear in their patients
on the assumption that they are “protecting” them, when they are actually acting out of self-
interest, trying to protect themselves. When the field of medicine finally understands the mind-
body connection, there will be a major shift in medical practice and more effective outcomes.
6. What is the self-motivated journey I went on to where I am today?
I don’t believe I have been self-motivated. The field of giftedness is a calling for me. I was called
to it when I was 17. I believe I am continuing the work of Leta Stetter Hollingworth, who passed
away shortly after I was born. There are so many uncanny connections between us—even our
stubby thumbs!
7. What surprised me the most on my journey? The least?
I was shocked that the testing industry actually listened to me. I was least surprised that the
competitive achievement mindset of the field stubbornly persists.
8. How are empathy and intuition connected with the development of spatial giftedness?
Visual-spatial abilities, empathy and intuition are all connected through the right hemisphere. I
don’t see any of them as “developing”; rather, I believe that they are innate gifts. Individuals
with high visual-spatial abilities can manifest the

30 Dec 2023Free Will, The 3D+ Perspective with Robert Sapolsky00:47:39

Happy New Year, Everyone!

It's 2024, and this year, instead of making resolutions on how you can improve yourself, I want you to do the opposite. I want you to radically accept yourself exactly as you are. I would like this year to be the best year of your life. I want you to see only the amazing things you can do and all the potential you have.

In this podcast, I cover Robert Sapolsky's book, "Behave." This voluminous book covers all the reasons why we do not have free will. There are many. For some reason others find this disheartening. I personally find this liberating. If we don't have free will, why are we all working so hard to do what others want us to do? Why are we worrying about the future? Why worry about making the right or even best choice? If we have no free will then why not spend our life focused on what makes us feel alive and the rest should fall into place.

As a gifted neurodivergent, I have come to realize there is so much in place in our system that actively thwarts my success. I worked very hard trying to fulfill the potential they said I had—the potential to be slightly better than average, the potential to make other people a lot of money. When I finally gave up, left the system, and pivoted to what I wanted to do, everything got so much easier. I was no longer working against myself; I was working for myself. I was working in a manner that seemed like I was always supposed to work. I was doing exactly what I was always meant to do.

Every minute I spend working on the things I was told I was not supposed to work on because I was here to be productive and serve the system, I have been happier. I want this for you too. I want your life to get better each year. The rest of the world may be falling apart, but we are finally getting the chance to be freed enough to pull ourselves together.

04 Jan 2024Free Will, The 2D perspective with Daniel Dennett00:25:30

Send us a text

It's another episode on Free Will, this time from the system perspective or 2D perspective. Using the viewpoint of Daniel Dennett, I review the 2D perspective of Free Will, illustrating how it contrasts with Robert Sapolsky's perspective and my own.

Daniel Dennett is known as the "Father of Modern Philosophy." He is a neuroscientist and the head of the Philosophy Department at Tufts University. In this podcast, I reviewed the following documents covering Daniel Dennett's perspective on Free Will:

I'll be very honest with you; I am not a fan of Daniel Dennett. I find his writings and lectures to be like climbing a very tall ladder, with many different concepts all precariously stacked on top of each other, yet never connected. I love learning, except from him. When I listen to or read Daniel Dennett, I am reminded of all the professors I had that did not want students to ask questions.

He does not explain his thoughts in a manner that makes them accessible but rather in a way that makes them inaccessible. I think this is the sign of a highly cognitive thinker who lacks empathy for his audience.  He forces the listener to do mental gymnastics to understand his thoughts. I believe he is indicative of issues we see in all the current humanities, except for anthropology. The American universities are are staffed by people who believe the masses are stupid and unable to think for themselves. They have turned the humanities into a religion, with only those who agree being right and those who disagree being wrong. This has contributed to our country's mental health crisis. It seems to me that those who run the humanities are educated but have not lived. They do not know how to reach their audience, and they do not care to do so. They think the audience should simply do as they say and not think for themselves.

09 Jan 2024Creative Intelligent Perspective Taking00:25:41

Send us a text

In this episode, I delve into the concept of creative intelligence and its impact on our perspective-taking. Using tutoring as an illustrative example, I demonstrate how the variance in learning experiences often boils down to differing perspectives.

Our educational systems are designed to instruct as if everyone's IQ falls within the range of 80 to 120. Those outside this range, whether above or below, tend to face difficulties. Creative thinkers, in particular, often find themselves far beyond this standardized spectrum. The higher one's capacity for intuitive intelligence, the greater the struggle. The typical response to academic challenges is seeking a tutor. However, tutors frequently fail to address the underlying issue.

A long time ago I decided to stop enrolling my kids in tutoring, a choice that saved both time and money. The root of their struggles wasn't a lack of comprehension but rather an understanding surpassing the system's two-dimensional perspective. The challenge lay in deciphering the specific viewpoint desired by the teacher, test, or educational system. By analyzing test questions or sample papers, we identified the perspective sought by the instructor, and suddenly, the struggle ceased.

As I age, I have found decreasing value from our education systems. My knowledge has expanded to a point where there is no value in conventional education, even from the most prestigious institutions worldwide. The answers provided by artificial intelligence hold little significance for me. Instead, I've learned to use these generic perspectives as a starting point for effectively communicating my own viewpoint to others.

Individuals with diverse perspectives will contribute increasing significant value to our future. Recognizing and comprehending this dynamic is crucial for shifting our culture towards a healthier state. The sooner we grasp this concept, the quicker we can guide our society in a direction that embraces and capitalizes on the unique value offered by differing perspectives.

20 Jan 2024Is Obesity Driven By Neurodivergence?00:39:54

Send us a text

I believe the obesity epidemic signifies a sensitivity to the schedules imposed by our systems on everyone. Obesity, in my view, is a consequence of the struggle to conform to increasingly restrictive and demanding systems, coupled with a diminishing nutritional quality in our food supply. The choices we make regarding nutrition are driven by the need for increasing dopamine rewards, which, in the short term, help us adhere to our schedules.

Obesity rates are on the rise across all Western societies. While it was initially observed in the most sensitive individuals, it now appears that either sensitivity is increasing or our societal systems breaking down are pushing everyone into a situation where fitting into the schedules we first learn in school is no longer feasible. I am concerned that as our society approaches its end, we may find few individuals healthy enough to bring about the necessary changes for a successful transition.

The research landscape in this area is still evolving, and recent insights suggest that others are also discovering connections between neurodivergence and obesity. You can explore this in the following supporting papers.

The ongoing journey to comprehend the intricate interplay between higher cognition, neurodivergence, and obesity has given rise to another theory.

One I am asking for your feedback on. Do you find this to be true for you? Please let me know at info@giftednd.com.

In neurotypicals the cognitively mind breaks before the body does. This is the purpose of boot camp. To break the mind and build it back as a no thinking enlisted body for war. (NT)

In neurodivergents the sensing body breaks before the mind does. This is what college is for. It breaks our body to make it a slave to the needs of the mind. (ND)

In the 2e, those of us with both high sensing and cognitive intelligence, there is a constant battle for resources between the two. For us the emotions and intellect must connect for us to be mentally and physically healthy.

For the 2e it is mental agony to have them separate and everything in our society insists they be separated. This only serves the powerful not the individual or the society. Separation manifests illness in both mind and body. But when your emotions and intellect connected your syndromes, your sensitivity and your highly aware neurodivergent brain functioning help you find your optimum functioning. (2e)

Send us a text

In this podcast I speak with Irene Gottlieb about the Trifecta of syndromes that impacts many of the most sensitivity individuals. Irene is profoundly gifted, runs a school for the profoundly gifted and has three children who are profoundly gifted. She has a lot of day to day experience with individuals who possess the trifecta of: Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS),  Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS).

Irene has a lot of experience researching the Trifecta. First as the mother of three children who have have the trifecta and second as the founder of a school where it is quite common. I originally heard Irene talk on this subject over the summer of 2023. I went to the talk knowing my family had two of these syndromes and left knowing we actually had all three of these syndromes. There is very little information on these syndromes, particularly MCAS, and Irene is one of the most knowledgeable people I know on the subject. I asked her to join me on my podcast and she graciously gave me 7 hours of her time during which we recorded this multi-part podcast.

24 Feb 2024Sensitivity: The Link Between Intelligence, Insanity, and Chronic Illness00:52:13

Send us a text

In this episode, I explore the detrimental effects of societal expectations on highly sensitive individuals. I argue that the most damaging aspect of the relationship between sensitivity, intelligence, and insanity arises from societal institutions, especially education. These institutions often favor psychopathic and narcissistic traits at the expense of highly sensitive individuals, leading to frequent chronic mental and physical health issues.

I present examples of renowned geniuses throughout history who have suffered due to their heightened intelligence and sensitivity in American and European societies. This highlights the harsh reality that our society often fails to properly value those who make significant contributions, treating them instead as disposable resources.

I stress the need for paradigm shifts that more effectively support sensitive individuals. I suggest creating specialized environments dedicated to and for sensitive people, where their unique values and talents are acknowledged, understood, and fostered. Neglecting to make these changes risks losing those most equipped to develop solutions for our future challenges.

19 Mar 2024Redefining 2e as Cognitive and Somatic Giftedness00:45:47

Redefining 2e as Cognitive and  Somatic Giftedness

In this episode of The Gifted Neurodivergent Podcast, I propose redefining "twice exceptional" from its current understanding, which combines disability and giftedness, to a new definition emphasizing "twice giftedness" in both somatic and cognitive domains.

I contend that disabilities in this context are caused by the education system's suppression of somatic intelligence. Our systems tend to cultivate a singular type of intelligence, often at the expense of those who possess alternative forms. The more sensitive an individual is, the more they are likely to be undermined by these systems.

Further, I argue that our societal structures are tailored to favor those exhibiting psychopathic traits. This emphasis on the absence of emotion alienates most individuals, but it particularly benefits psychopaths, who generally lack emotional depth and often operate ruthlessly. I suggest that the rise and fall of societies are intricately linked to the promotion of narcissism and the preferential treatment of individuals with psychopathic tendencies, as opposed to those who are highly emotional.

I present two examples: one illustrating cognitive giftedness and the other showcasing somatic giftedness, both within the neurodivergent spectrum but not classified as twice exceptional (2e). Additionally, I explore how individuals identified as 2e often share many traits with both groups but also possess a unique blend of these attributes, which sets them apart as creative intellectuals. This distinct combination in 2e individuals reflects a synergy of cognitive and somatic gifts, contributing to their unique intellectual and creative capacities.

06 Apr 20242e High Cognitive Intelligence - Anshar Seraphim01:27:06

Send us a text

In the realm of cognitive brilliance, the stories that resonate most are those that challenge conventional perceptions and unfold the rich tapestry of human intellect and emotion. Lillian Skinner, the host of the **Gifted Neurodivergent Podcast**, introduces us to Anshar Seraphim—a figure of remarkable cognitive intelligence and a testament to the extraordinary capacities of neurodivergent individuals.

Anshar's journey from being predominantly nonverbal, with autism, to becoming a beacon of insight and empathy is nothing short of inspiring. Navigating through the challenges of a late autism diagnosis, sensory processing issues, and synesthesia, Anshar illuminates the intricate relationship between neurodiversity and personal growth. His story underscores the importance of understanding and accepting one's neurodivergence as a unique asset rather than a limitation.

An essential theme that emerges from the conversation is the profound role sensitivity plays in shaping one's intellectual and emotional landscape. Both Lillian and Anshar share how their heightened sensitivities have been pivotal in their journeys. This sensitivity, often seen as a hindrance, is reframed as a powerful tool for creativity, learning, and adaptation.

The dialogue takes a critical turn as it questions the traditional educational system's ability to nurture neurodivergent individuals. Lillian and Anshar explore the notion that the system, in many ways, stifles creativity and forces conformity at the expense of personal and intellectual freedom. They advocate for a society that values and cultivates the unique abilities of neurodivergent individuals, allowing them to contribute in ways that align with their innate strengths.

A recurring motif in the discussion is the transformative power of finding community—a group of peers who reflect and understand each other's experiences. For Lillian and Anshar, connecting with like-minded individuals has been instrumental in their personal and professional development. This sense of belonging and mutual understanding fosters a nurturing environment where individuals can thrive and explore their potential without fear of judgment.

As the conversation draws to a close, Lillian and Anshar contemplate the future of neurodivergence in an evolving world. They touch upon the potential impacts of artificial intelligence, environmental challenges, and societal shifts on neurodivergent individuals. The discussion points towards a need for adaptive strategies that leverage neurodiverse talents and sensitivities to navigate the complexities of the 21st century.

The insightful exchange between Lillian Skinner and Anshar Seraphim shines a light on the intricacies of neurodivergence and the untapped potential that lies within. It challenges us to rethink our views on intelligence, education, and societal norms. By embracing and celebrating the diversity of the human mind, we can foster a world that appreciates the full spectrum of brilliance and enables everyone to find their path to success and fulfillment.

The conversation between Lillian and Anshar serves as a powerful reminder that in the journey toward understanding and valuing neurodivergence, we are not just uncovering new ways of thinking; we are rediscovering the essence of what it means to be authentically human.

Trigger Warning: This episode contains brief references to attempted suicide.

In this episode of the Gifted Neurodivergent Podcast, I interview Ethan R. Gibson, author of 'Nonchalant Perfectionism'. You can find his book here: https://a.co/d/c9fnsTs.

At just 21, Ethan wrote this book reflecting on his journey from addiction and an attempted suicide to his experiences working in a group home for young sex offenders—a journey that offered insights into the therapeutic potential of fostering emotional resilience and self-awareness from a young age.

Despite having no prior writing experience or formal training, Ethan wrote, edited, and published his first book. We discuss how intense emotions fueled his creative process. It might be more accurate to say that his emotions galvanized his intellect to create this book. We also explore how somatic giftedness manifests and how Ethan did something our educational systems often claim is impossible: he created without being instructed. Being twice-exceptional with pronounced somatic giftedness is why this was possible. In other words, Ethan is a savant.

Ethan shares his personal struggle with perfectionism, the pressures of societal expectations, and his journey towards understanding and constructively using his emotions. He highlights the value of negative emotions as a catalyst for creativity and profound change.

03 Aug 2024Changing What We Value As Intelligence : Infracognition00:23:55

Send us a text

This episode of the Gifted Neurodivergent Podcast introduces the concept of infracognition, a form of cognition that involves understanding and using emotions alongside traditional thought processes. It is contrasted with metacognition, or thinking about thinking. Infracognition is oppressed in our current educational systems, which favor linear, factual learning. But that infracognition is more suitable for our change we face in the near future. Infracognition will provide the skills we need to work best with AI.

This podcast illustrates how our systems are failing all students using a comparison between two types of students, Emily and Alex. Highlighting how what we value is the wrong type of intelligence. Infracognition is the intelligence our children need to prepare them for the future. Not just neurodivergent children but all children. Lillian emphasizes the need for an educational paradigm shift to adapt to rapid societal changes and the role of infracognition in fostering true understanding and mental health. She concludes with a call for educational reforms that respect and utilize both metacognitive and infracognitive abilities.

In this Halloween episode of the Gifted Neurodivergent Podcast the discussion revolves around how societal misconceptions create 'monsters' out of those with neurodivergent intelligence. The podcast delves into how supernatural figures such as vampires, werewolves, and witches symbolize different forms of neurodivergent abilities—autism, somatic intelligence, and integrated intelligence, respectively. Through passionate anecdotes and observations, Skinner highlights how society’s isolation, misunderstanding, and exploitation of these individuals lead to their 'monstrous' portrayal. She calls for societal change to recognize and nurture neurodivergent talents rather than marginalize them, emphasizing the need for empathy and acceptance to uncover these hidden gifts. The episode concludes with an urge to turn negative labels into positives, fostering a community that appreciates and values outlier strengths.

30 Jan 2025The Tower of Babel - Fragmentation of Language00:22:00

Send us a text

In this episode of the Gifted Neurodivergent podcast, delves into the Tower of Babel story from the Old Testament, exploring its deeper meaning through the lens of holistic intelligence and societal fragmentation. Initially puzzled by the story as a child, I now interpret it as a metaphor for the division of human intelligence into cognitive and somatic parts. I argue that modern society overvalues cognitive intelligence, leading to a dismissal of big-picture, holistic thinking and the marginalization of creative individuals.
The discussion covers the historical and modern implications of this fragmentation, the importance of holistic intelligence, and the role of neurodivergence in maintaining a blended cognitive and somatic perspective. It concludes by emphasizing the need to nurture holistic intelligence in the face of societal and technological changes, urging listeners to reconnect with their innate capacity for empathy, creativity, and multidimensional thinking.
