057 The Power Of Fashion Influencers With Vivien Tang
00:36:54
Back at the start of 2020 I began working with Vivien & I loved that she had some big dreams of where she wanted to take her UK made slow fashion brand inspired by 90’s/00s fashion. Alot has happened since then & I don’t think either of us could have predicted how quickly the brand grew
Vivien had been dreaming of creating her own clothing label ever since she opened up her Depop shop when she was just 15 and has been sourcing and selling items ever since. It’s such a clever way to start because you get a good idea of what your customer likes and what sells well before you even start designing!
Vivien always found ideal pieces that weren’t her size or they were just not the item she envisioned , so she decided to alter the items to her own style. The essence of VIVI WEI grew from her love for finding 90’s/00s style clothing and how there isn’t a slow fashion brand that emulates that perfect Y2K look that is so rare to find.
In this episode we discuss :
starting a business during a pandemic
how depop was the perfect launch pad for her business
how vivien has worked with influencers to grow her brand in a short space of time
what the first few months of launching a brand actually looks like!
Are you ready to discover what it takes to become a 6-figure fashion brand? Or maybe you're already there & looking for ways to improve!

079 - Selling 1 Collection For 1 Year With Celia @ Junk London
00:41:03
Celia @ Junk LDN spent most of her 20’s travelling Asia & Australia spending many months living & working in little bars across Cambodian beaches for local families. It was here she began to see first hand the effects of plastic waste on the ocean
After learning that the fast fashion brands she had been buying her bikinis from were exploiting their workers & destroying the nature she loved so much, she decided to start her own swimwear brand. One that was ethical & planet - friendly but still colourful & tons of fun!
Being able to support a developing country was close to Celia’s heart after her time spent in Asia. After visiting Bali several times, she found the perfect factory that treated their workers well & specialised in eco - friendly fabrics made from recycled bottles and fishing nets
Together they have created a playful beachwear brand that doesn’t harm the planet
In this episode we discuss :
Celia’s first launch of swimwear during a worldwide pandemic & travel restrictions
How the launch felt behind the scenes vs online
The power of your language when talking about your brand in a negative or positive way
What kept Celia motivated in the height of winter

Season 2 Episode 010 - Sell Out TikTok Launches with Katie @ Katharina Lou
00:47:57
Welcome to another episode of The Fashion Brand Clinic with me,Elizabeth Stiles!
KT Mildren launched ‘Katharina Lou,’ her fashion business in 2021 after having lots of spare time (& creative ideas!) in lockdown.
Since then she has grown a cool community online of fashion followers and has also become best known for her hit Olly Rose dress!
Starting with bold feminine pink pieces which were all made to order, since then it has evolved into a more grungy aesthetic.
KT shares her tips for pivoting, creating sell out launches, how to find the right influencers for your brand and how to get out of a negative cycle which so many founders face.
💫 Don't forget to hit that follow button and stay tuned for more episodes sharing exclusive BTS content
In this episode we discuss :
The 80/20 rule: 80% of your sales will come from 20% of your products so ‘If it’s ain’t broke, then don’t fix it.’ If you have a best seller, relaunch it in different colour ways and styles, don’t try to always reinvent the wheel.
The importance of going to see your manufacturers in person: you get things done quicker, you can build relationships, you can check that they fit in with your values and they are likely to work harder for you after you’ve made the effort to come and see them.
The power of taking a break and space from your business: sometimes the most productive thing you can do is pausing and taking a holiday to reignite the creativity in you and help you get out of a negative cycle.

021 - Sewing from Scratch With New Craft House
00:34:18
Hannah and Rosie popped up on my insta feed via a post that Heart Zeena shared about DIY sewing & I loved that New Craft House was making sewing cool & accessible to everyone!
Friends since school, they’ve always been obsessed with crafting (girls after my own heart & I had to go to Hobbycraft straight after we met as I felt so inspired!)
After having a successful blog & also struggling to find fresh and exciting craft products they set up The New Craft House in 2013. Using traditional crafting techniques in modern and stylish products, their range of kits and workshops inspire everyone to be creative.
They run workshops from the studio on Broadway Market, East London with Hannah’s beautiful dog who was napping behind us whilst recording!
We lost the first recording after 10 minutes but they were so patient with my crappy laptop & were happy to start again from the beginning - thankyou!
In this episode we discuss :
How to get into sewing if you’re a complete novice
What the New Craft House workshops look like
Why they started buying ex - design fabrics to sell on their website
Common starter sewing mistakes to avoid!

103 - Lessons Learned from Launching with Helen Perry
00:41:52
This week’s guest is Helen Perry who I’ve collaborated with before on a couple of IGTV videos & I’ve also been on her brilliant podcast called Just Bloody Post It! (if you like this, you’ll love that too!)
Helen shows creative businesses how to do marketing on the internet. Wherever you are showing up online (and you will need to show up) - on Insta, emails, TikTok, podcasts - you’ll need to learn the skills that allow you to communicate what’s great and valuable about what you do. Then people will buy it. This is what Helen teaches in her courses and workshops.
In this episode we discuss :
how Helen plans her launches including waitlists & lead magnets
what it feels like to be very visible online when selling for an intense period of time
other measures of success other than just the monetary figures

064 - Building An Iconic Cult Brand with Gareth @ Hunsnet
01:02:10
My guest this week is the brains (& beauty!) behind Hunsnet, Gareth Howells!
For anyone who doesn’t know Hunsnet started off as a meme page back in 2017 because he wanted to build a community of good time guys and girls who had a shared interest in Hun Culture.
Through social media, community and live events they celebrate your journey as a tacky teenager who didn’t fit in to fun-loving, meme addicts who want to meet other like minded legendary huns. They’re obsessed with all things popular culture, celebrity nostalgia & generally laughing through the irony of every day life.
In this episode we discuss :
How Hunsnet was created
The point in which Gareth knew he was onto something major
The secret to creating a cult brand that makes people feel a part of something
What makes a meme so shareable
Plus tonnes of noughties X-factor chat ;)
Are you ready to discover what it takes to become a 6-figure fashion brand? Or maybe you're already there & looking for ways to improve!

014 - Lucy Hitchcock @ Sassy Digital on How to Launch a Fashion Brand With a Small Audience
00:52:44
Episode 14 of The Fashion Feed podcast is with Lucy Hitchcock of Sassy Digital. I met Lucy in a networking group called The Coven where I saw she’d launched her podcast ‘Winging It’ which is great!
She runs Sassy Digital which is a marketing ‘agency’ designed to be an extension of your team, and one of their strengths from the beginning has been fitting seamlessly into client’s businesses.
Sassy Digital has been managing social media accounts, building brands and websites since 2014 and in that time they’ve worked with plenty of talented people and extraordinary brands.
Lucy has built the websites for some big players such as Sarah Ashcroft’s SLA label and Stay Wild Swim so has since accrued a number of up and coming fashion brands as clients!
It’s great having a big audience to sell to but I wanted to speak to her about how to launch a fashion brand with a relatively small following.
I went to meet Lucy at a co-working space where we recorded an episode for her podcast followed by me interviewing her for The Fashion Feed which was her first ever podcast interview as a guest! I’m sure you’ll agree that she was a natural & gave away so much advice for new brands

025 - The Box London - Extending the Life of Designer Clothes
00:35:32
The BOX is a multifaceted sample sale space located in the heart of Hackney & is designed to accommodate and support a range of retail events; from its’ signature sample sales to pop-ups and product launches.
The Founder and Director is Natalie Yaffe, who came up with the concept having been an avid sample sale shopper herself. The idea was born out of a frustration that sample sales weren’t enjoyable experiences; evoking ideas of unwanted product, bad merchandising and frantically rummaging through boxes or rifling through rails.
Yaffe saw a gap in the market for a premium space, to shop the best brands at affordable prices, whilst feeling like a full price boutique. With a fashion and retail background, having previously worked at Mr Porter as well as the in-house sample sales team at the Net-A-Porter Group, Yaffe started planning a space that would combine a carefully curated edit of product from only the best brands.
From the music played to the lighting used she has created a relaxed and enjoyable customer experience.
The BOX are not only providing a more comfortable experience for the sample sale shopper but also striving to offer an alternative to fast fashion. The aim is to give people the opportunity to buy from designers who produce the highest quality, most covetable pieces that will last; and all at a similar price point to fast fashion brands on the high street. It's a responsibility to the planet, whilst also giving those who don't want to or can't pay designer prices the opportunity to buy into premium product.
In this episode we discuss :
Natalie’s experience in the fashion industry
How she’s changed the face of sample sales
Which brands Natalie works with
What happens to the stock if it isn’t sold at sample sales
The teething problems she faced when setting up
Advice for people who want to grab a bargain!
Tips on working in the fashion industry & how to get ahead

Unfortunately Jade couldn’t retrieve her account so I thought it would be a good idea for her to come on the podcast to hopefully reconnect with her old followers & share her story about having her account deleted. It’s a really inspiring story because some exciting opportunities have magically come her way since starting a new account with a smaller following!
In this episode we discuss :
Jade’s mission to build a sustainable brand without compromising on her aesthetic
A step by step guide on what to do if your account gets hacked
The positives of what can come from building a new audience from scratch
Are you ready to discover what it takes to become a 6-figure fashion brand? Or maybe you're already there & looking for ways to improve!
I have a really fun quiz for you to try out today! It's just 21 questions that will determine a score from 0-100 and you'll automatically receive a personalised audit of how your business is doing.
As a fashion brand owner, it can be challenging (to say the least!) to stand out in a crowded market and drive consistent sales.
However, with the right marketing, product development, sales channels and pricing strategy, you can take your fashion brand to the next level!
In under 2 minutes, ask yourself these carefully selected set of questions to determine if your fashion brand is on the path to success.
For example …
*Do you regularly update your website and analyse your competitors' pricing?
*Do you frequently update your website's content and product offerings to keep customers engaged?
*Does your fashion brand have a content marketing strategy?
Once completed, you'll receive an e-mail with a fully personalised audit on how you can scale with success - it's honestly so cool, you have to try it to see for yourself…

102 - How to Bounce Back from a Sales Slump
00:45:25
For anyone that missed the live I did with Rebecca @womenwillcreate, we were talking all about how to bounce back from a sales slump!
We talked about the change in mindset needed as well as making sure you are engaging with your customers and showing your brand.
In this episode I share with you 5 ways to bounce back from a sales slump :
1️⃣Accept that January is a slow month, for a lot of people it’s a month of reflection and detox so it won’t be about your brand 2️⃣ Make a point of reflecting on what you learnt in this time, taking a step back and put it all down on paper 3️⃣ Reconnect with your passion and your purpose. This will mean you will have a great energy which is much better for pushing yourself and sales 4️⃣ Find a good blend of features and benefits to your brand and what you sell 5️⃣ Make a promise of what you can consistently do in February. Perhaps a piece of content that’s recurring (it doesn’t have to be every day!)

During the BLM movement, I came across Kayleigh’s page via Katie Ramsingh’s instagram & couldn’t be happier about it! Kayleigh’s positive energy & vibrant motivation on her crowdfunding page was contagious so I got in touch about her being on the podcast.
She was frustrated when shopping for headwear & the fact there wasn’t anything for her hair type on the market so she created her own.
Bind London is a culturally inclusive headwear range includes two bands, a head scarf, head wrap, hijab and durag which is currently in production due to launch this summer!
In this episode we discuss :
How Kayleigh came up with the idea for her business
Her Power Hour each morning
Which products Kayleigh’s launching
The Natwest Back Her Business Crowd Funding process
How she used LinkedIn to reach her target
Launching a business during a world pandemic & racial movement

02 - Diversity, Controversy & Transparency in Fashion with Sophie Slater @ Birdsong London
00:51:07
My second guest on The Fashion Feed podcast is Sophie Slater of the eco - fashion brand Birdsong London.
Sophie started the brand with Sarah in 2014 as they were inspired by the great skill and creativity in women’s community groups but frustrated by their financial insecurity in the context of budget cuts and rising rents. With the fashion industry addicted to Photoshop, and wholesale exploitation of millions of female garment workers worldwide, an ethical fashion brand championing women from worker to wearer was born. With Designer & Head of Production Susanna on board, the team is on a renewed mission to create beautiful, sustainable clothes that empower the wearer, the worker, and the community that binds us together.
Starting with just a couple of grants in the bank, and the experience of the Year Here programme for social entrepreneurs, Birdsong has to date channelled tens of thousands into women’s organisations in London, whether funding retirement home improvements in Enfield, or sewing classes in Bow.
We met in their eclectic office off a quiet side street in Euston & in this episode we cover :
Diversity, transparency & controversy within fashion
Getting nerdy about ethical sourcing in London
Building a company around your own personal values & beliefs
Starting from a point of feminism & how that shaped the brand
Charity projects that the brand has supported since 2014
Poverty & exploitation in the UK manufacturing industry
Sophie gives some epic advice in this episode and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! :)

Today I’m chatting to Lisa Johnson, a business strategist specializing in using passive income to scale businesses. I wanted to chat to her because she’s bold & straight talking telling people the practicalities of how they increase their earning potential!
In this episode we discuss :
How Lisa turned it around for herself going from £30k in debt to a £6 million turnover in just a few years
The power of making money with integrity & not sacrificing your values
The mindset shifts needed to go from a 5 -> 6 -> 7 figure turnover

029 - 12 Tips to Overcome Self Doubt
00:10:37
This podcast was based on a blog post which I wrote a while ago
Self doubt has got to be one of the biggest things that hold us back as creatives.
It can block all your creative flow as these thoughts have the ability to take over and override any positive ones
Your brain is wired to look out for danger and keep you safe, so to try something new or pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone feels really scary!
Therefore to reach those ‘scary’ places in life, you have to go against that primal instinct in order to succeed
In this episode I share 12 tips to overcome self doubt

What even is manifesting
Some CRAZY stories that Claire has manifested

NOT THAT DEEP® is a spiritual streetwear brand focused around manifesting, law of attraction, spirituality and mindset. 'It's not that deep' became Sarah & Jason’s life mantra during the dark times which we touch on in this episode
The brand speaks to a community of people who want to enjoy the short time that we are here on earth by connecting with our spirituality, trusting the universe and not taking any of this shit too seriously - whilst wearing cosy AF, bold and colourful garms.
NTD is co-founded by husband and wife team Sarah and Jason Akwisombe.
In 2015, they began an online education business NO BULL BUSINESS SCHOOL, where they helped thousands of women start small businesses. After a wildly successful but rocky 2020, they decided to make their way back to creativity and found a way to combine their two loves - Streetwear and spirituality.
I worked with Sarah 1:1 back when I was too nervous to take the leap from the corporate world of fashion buying & sales! I loved her no bullshit attitude to giving advice so I thought if this is a shit idea - she will 100% tell me straight! She was incredibly supportive & encouraged me to go for it & I can honestly say I’m not sure I would have my own business today if it wasn’t for her!
Fun fact - the first time I ever met Sarah IRL in a cafe in Croydon (circa 2018) she told me she wanted her own streetwear label one day and here we are telling the story of how it came about!
In this episode we discuss :
Sarah’s varied career from music to beauty to coaching to streetwear
What the transition looked like going from a service based business to a product one whilst facing a PR drama (reminder not to believe everything you read online!)
How creativity can pull you out of a dark place

082 - Recycling Gold with Catch Rhys
00:49:30
Welcome back to another episode of The Fashion Feed podcast & we’re talking about jewellery but not as you know it! It’s been a couple of years now since I’ve stopped buying bits of jewellery for £5 or £10 & started to invest in better quality gold vermeil or gold plated pieces to save my skin from going green!
I can confirm that straight after recording I went on Catch’s website and treated myself to a couple of pieces that I know will last me a lifetime (quite literally) & they arrived today!!!
On this week’s episode I’m introducing Catch Rhys who’s a jewellery designer inspired by her mum’s solid gold rings which she’s worn consistently for over 40 years! Although Catch quickly realised that the options were limited; mass-produced and low quality (or wildly expensive and inaccessible!)
In this episode we discuss :
Catch’s accidental entrance into the world of fine gold jewellery
The benefits of solid gold vs gold vermail
How Catch has overcome sustainability challenges in an old fashioned jewellery industry
Are you ready to discover what it takes to become a 6-figure fashion brand? Or maybe you're already there & looking for ways to improve!

03 - Improve the Cashflow in Your Fashion Business with Catherine Erdly
00:42:24
My third guest on The Fashion Feed podcast is Catherine Erdly of Future Retail
She has over 19 years experience working with product businesses of all sizes from high street names (such as Laura Ashley, Coast and Paperchase), all the way down to brand new businesses with just a handful of customers.
Catherine is your go - to woman if you want to get more organised and make more money.
I first met Catherine in the spring of 2018 and it seemed like fate that our paths had crossed! Catherine previously worked as a merchandiser and I was in buying which are complimentary jobs in retail. Merchandisers work very closely with buyers to give them a budget to spend and a framework of how to spend it and this is similar to what Catherine does now with her clients.
Since our first meeting we have worked on a number of projects together and often pass client recommendations depending on the specific knowledge they need advice on. I focus on design trends & manufacturing whereas Catherine focuses more on time management and cash flow.
I knew I wanted Catherine on the podcast because she has so much knowledge to share and breaks down the topic of money into manageable and actionable advice so you can implement it into your own brand strategy with confidence.
We decided to meet in The British Library thinking it would be quiet but no such luck, there’s a lot of plate rattling and coffee making so apologies for the background noise, I’ve reduced it as much as I can
In this episode we cover :
How to make more money within your fashion business
The one number you need to know to ensure your business is a financial success
Minimising risk with your cash flow
The one and only place where money comes into your business - do you know what it is?
How to spot trends within your sales and using that information to determine future decisions
Catherine and I also discuss the workshops that we run together with Joanne Griffin and if you’d like to come along on 18th May 2019, you can grab a ticket here!
We're also running it in September and the link to buy tickets is here
Spaces are limited & both workshops have sold out previously so I’d recommend booking in soon!

Ian Snow is a handmade and fair-trade company selling contemporary ethnic products.
Since being established in 1977, they’ve helped creators and makers find remarkable pieces from around the world with story, character, and colour.
Behind every piece lies a story. A tradition, a way of doing things, carefully preserved through the generations. As a family, they want to share these stories with you – and for you to make them part of your own.
In 1969, Ian travelled to India on a journey of exploration & over the next two decades, he returned to India time and again to meet some of the country’s finest, most original artisans. Then later on, his wife Jakki, grew the business into a team of twenty odd people, united by a passion for unmistakable style, made by hand and with consideration for people and planet. Daisy is now in charge & making some really cool changes which she shares in this episode!
In this episode we discuss :
The brand story of Ian Snow Ltd
How she thrives on the chaos of living and working from their family farm in Devon
What the brand stands for & how it’s evolved over the decades
The relaunch of Scrap Scrap - a project started by her mum over 25 years ago

04 - Amy Fuchsia on growing an engaged fashion community on instagram
00:53:16
My fourth guest on The Fashion Feed podcast is Amy Fuchsia of Fuchsia Shaw
Amy Fuchsia is the ultimate definition of a ‘multi - hyphenate’ - she’s a fashion influencer, stylist, content creator and designer for her own brand Fuchsia Shaw. Her career started in costume design and on- set styling but it didn’t fulfil her creative drive so she slowly transitioned into creating her own designs on swimwear.
After having one of her swimsuits accidentally go viral on Pinterest, she noticed the power of social media and started to grow her own Instagram account sharing outfit posts that her mum had taken of her
At a first glance on Amy’s Instagram feed you may not realise she’s quite shy so I was extra grateful when she agreed to come on the podcast & tell her story! I admire her because she pushes through her insecurities, works hard & puts herself out there to create her own opportunities which have really paid off!
I first came across Amy as she’d done some influencer work for a brand I was working with at the time. I’m now a fashion brand consultant & work with brands on their design, sourcing, manufacturing & marketing. After noticing she had her own brand, I reached out to Amy in September 2018 to see if she wanted to have a chat about Fuchsia Shaw & how I might be able to help.
I remember being SO excited when she replied & since then, we’ve worked together on trend forecasting, inspiration shopping & a launch plan for her AW 18 collection. We visited a knitwear factory in Leicester & also did a fabric sourcing trip in Paris (not quite as glam as it sounds… we met at St Pancras station at 5 am and got home at 10 pm the same day!)
Amy came over to my house to record the podcast and my cat Vinnie was sat in the corner listening to the whole interview. She was wearing dad jeans, a grey sweatshirt an oversized black denim jacket, white sports socks and chunky trainers (I looked a mess as usual!)
In this episode we cover :
How to grow your account by creating content & telling stories that resonate with your audience
An honest account of her struggles with manufacturing & how she overcame them
How she sold out her first bag collection in 15 minutes
Her insecurities about the brand & how it’s perceived
How to create a manageable collection within your capabilities
Trends we’re excited to see launch in 2019
Are you ready to discover what it takes to become a 6-figure fashion brand? Or maybe you're already there & looking for ways to improve!
I have a really fun quiz for you to try out today! It's just 21 questions that will determine a score from 0-100 and you'll automatically receive a personalised audit of how your business is doing.

068 - The BTS Reality of Selling Online With Sophie French
01:00:28
Today’s guest is my dear friend and business partner Sophie French!
Sophie specialises in supporting women to switch their crippling self-doubt for unshakeable self-belief and swap their inner critic for their inner champion. Her talks have been described as: ‘captivating, inspiring and engaging’ so after listening today expect to feel: energised, uplifted, shifted, educated and pulsing with passion!
I run a course with Sophie called the Self Belief Sessions and we’ve just closed the doors for the third round of intake! The course is all about busting your limiting beliefs which is quite ironic as a lot of our own limiting beliefs start showing up when we put the course on sale!
Every time we run it we always do a full debrief of how it went, what went well and what we’ve learnt for next time! This time we thought, why not record it as I bet it would be interesting for other people who are selling something online
In this episode we discuss :
the preparation that goes into launching a new intake for the self belief sessions
how we felt when fewer people signed up compared to last time
the brutally honest feelings that come up for us both when selling online
Are you ready to discover what it takes to become a 6-figure fashion brand? Or maybe you're already there & looking for ways to improve!

Meg runs a slow fashion advocacy business; she’s an eco conscious stylist, writer, designer & workshop leader in Wales.
After having worked for Gucci and giving birth to her daughter India, her outlook on the fashion industry completely changed… for the better!
We found each other on Instagram as we both talk about slow fashion regularly & I shared an image from ink thimble which Meg loved and we got chatting! She’s the perfect guest to have on the podcast because she’s worked in lots of different areas of the fashion industry & also pushing it in a brand new directionMeg Pirie
In this episode we break down a lot of jargon that’s being thrown about including :
the differences between linear fashion & circular fashion
the differences between ethical fashion & sustainable fashion
the differences between eco - fashion & vegan fashion
We also cover :

00:52:12
I met Heather through LinkedIn and couldn’t believe what an incredible platform she’d created with Sourcing Playground.
Having been a buyer herself, she knew there was a problem in the industry through connecting manufacturers to retailers and vice versa. After spending a fortune on travel going to different sourcing shows around the world, she thought ‘why is this not online’ ?!
With Sourcing Playground, she has flipped the traditional model on it’s head so that the retailer uploads a project and the manufacturers effectively bid for your business - it’s like match.com but for factories and retailers!
Heather is also the sponsor of the podcast so it totally made sense for her to be guest of honour and share her wonderful knowledge of the sourcing industry & how to work best with manufacturers!
In this episode we discuss :
Heather’s career history to date
Why she launched Sourcing Playground & how you can use it
Best practises when working with a factory
The huge topic of sustainability!
The podcast will be taking a short break over Christmas and New Year but will be back in January 2020!

109 - There's Riches in the Niches with Sharmadean Reid MBE
00:30:46
This week I had a pinch me moment speaking to the iconic businesswoman Sharmadean Reid! Fun story, when I was working for a start up brand, I actually packaged up a PR gift to send to Sharmadean in the hope that she would wear it (she did of course!) and then fast forward 4 years I’m interviewing her for the podcast & collaborating with her on The Stack World!
The Stack World is for the entrepreneurial community of innovators and changemakers. With five distinct content pillars - BEAUTY / WELLNESS / BUSINESS / CULTURE / SOCIETY, The Stack is about achieving higher ground and higher purpose through knowledge sharing. They’re creating spaces for intelligent, ambitious mission driven women who see themselves as infinite learners.
Sharmadean talks us through her career which spans from a brand consultant and fashion stylist for Nike & Asos to launching WAH, a hip hop magazine for girls in 2006 which then evolved into the WAH Nail Salon. She was actually awarded an MBE from HRH Queen in 2015 for services to Beauty and Women!
Just before Christmas, I received a message from Rhea (actually a previous guest on the podcast!) who now works at The Stack World telling me she had an exciting opportunity for me & it was to create a membership club in collaboration with The Stack World for people who are early on in their journey to becoming a fashion brand owner! Sharmadean’s values align so closely with my own to help creatives make more money so it was an immediate YASSSS!
The Fashion Brand Clinic is an accessible way to work with me when you’re still in the early stages & budget might be tight! You can absorb as much information as possible & learn from my 15 years of industry experience & apply it to your business! Every Thursday I host something called Thursday Therapy & you can ask me anything that’s playing on your mind! Plus I host monthly live workshops exclusive to club members, share retail news, industry insights & trend information! If that wasn’t enough you also join a cool micro community (away from social media) of other fashion creatives who know exactly what you’re going through :)
You can join the club in 3 simple steps : 1. Download The Stack World App (link in the show notes) 2. Create a free profile 3. Search The Fashion Brand Clinic & join!
In this episode we discuss :
Sharmadean’s impressive career in beauty, wellness & technology
Building The Stack World through the pandemic
Finding your place within a competitive industry

030 - Hosting a Podcast & Coronavirus' Impact on the Industry with @fashionoriginatorspodcast
00:53:51
Stephanie is the first person I connected with once I took the leap into consulting and asked to be a guest on her podcast Fashion Originators & I was genuinely shocked when she said yes because her guests have been INSANE! (The founder of Lulu Lemon & the founder of AntiBad to name a few!)
It’s taken me just over a year and a half to return the favour to Stephanie because I wanted to speak with her about something juicy and what’s more juicy than something which is affecting the global economy?
I’ve been steering clear of the C word on the podcast so far but this episode is focused around Coronavirus & the impact on the fashion industry.
In this episode we discuss :
Stephanie’s career in the industry
Why she started a podcast, her top tips for starting one & pitching to be interviewed
The opportunities for small businesses during this time
Why the mediocre brands have fallen into administration
How the fashion calendar might re-align to people’s spending habits

063 - The Netflix Effect With A Virtual Vintage Market
00:55:55
This week we have 2 guests for the price of one with Georgie & Emily! Together they founded A Virtual Vintage Market, an online fashion platform that champions vintage and sustainable fashion.
Georgie is the owner of Margate vintage shop Peony Vintage and a freelance stylist; Emily owns vintage & own label brand Medley Vintage and used to work in Fine Art & Interiors.
They launched AVVM in April 2020 with the simple intention of helping fellow vintage traders during lockdown as many had lost access to their physical trading spaces.
Fast forward 9 months - they launched a Reworked Market championing contemporary upcycled fashion brands & an online premium vintage rental agency. They have an online community of almost 22.5k followers, have hosted over 10 markets and worked with over 100 small fashion brands (and counting!)
Their platform has six core values - to promote vintage fashion as part of a modern wardrobe; to make vintage fashion accessible to as many as possible; to help vintage traders grow their online brands; to encourage shopping with small fashion businesses; to cultivate an inclusive online community & to champion vintage fashion as a sustainable choice.
In this episode we discuss :
Promoting vintage as part of a modern wardrobe
Encouraging shopping with small fashion businesses
Making vintage accessible
Helping vintage sellers grow their online brands via Instagram
Championing vintage as a sustainable choice
Plus how Netflix has had an impact on the clothes we wear!

035 - Killer Copy Tips By Fashion Writer Katie Ramsingh
00:35:58
As alot of my previous guests, Katie and I met on instagram and hit it off straight away in the DM’s!
She is a copywriter helping fashion and beauty brands to succeed by getting their content spot on.
Katie began her career in fashion journalism and whilst it was fun attending press days and eating tiny fashion week canapés, she was itching to get out and explore the world, so packed in the 9-5 and went to live in the rainforests of borneo for a bit.
What started out as a small trip of self-discovery quickly turned into several years of travelling while also trying to establish herself as a freelance copywriter.
She now has 9 years industry experience under her belt and ready to help you with all things copy related!
In this episode we discuss :
What Katie’s experience has been in the industry so far
Her favourite part of her job
What a typical day looks like for a copywriter
Common mistakes she sees people making in their copy
Some top tips on how you can add some personality into your website!
PS Katie’s mic is hitting against her jumper at the beginning so we have a quick outfit change after a couple of mins
She also recently launched her 99 killer copy tips for fashion & beauty brands which you can sign up for on her website!
Are you ready to discover what it takes to become a 6-figure fashion brand? Or maybe you're already there & looking for ways to improve!

042 - Creating Window Displays With Katie Brew
00:59:01
Katie and I went to uni together to study fashion retail buying but our careers have gone in different directions! I thought it would be fun to speak to Katie and share her story about how she left buying and transferred to a completely different role! Katie is actually living in Germany at the moment as she works for a large retailer out there (we can’t name it otherwise she has to fill in loads of boring paperwork and tbh she cba!) haha!
Her stories that she shares in this episode are so honest & I’m super grateful to her for that! I know that whenever she says ‘for example’ that its actually something that she’s had to do for a wacky boss or client!
In this episode we discuss :
How Katie moved out of the buying industry due to not enjoying it
The resilience needed to get into an industry you know nothing about
The crazy projects she’s been asked to work on for brands such as Harrods, Selfridges, Dior & Nike (to name a few!)
The skills needed to work in a job that has so many moving parts
What the process is to go from an idea to an installation
What a critical path is & why it’s the key to success
Are you ready to discover what it takes to become a 6-figure fashion brand? Or maybe you're already there & looking for ways to improve!

043 - Building A New Brand With Your Best Friend with @shopfleuri
00:52:53
Hilary & Kirsten reached out to me on instagram to come on the podcast & wanted to discuss building a new brand with your best friend which really caught my attention!
Fleuri was born in the heart of Los Angeles by Hilary & Kirsten who worked together at the same fashion company. One had a knack for business while the other was skilled in design, but their shared passion was collecting timeless jewellery pieces.
They spent hours each week after work in the jewellery district of L.A., asking for advice, researching gems, and trying not to feel intimidated by the giant man-run jewellery companies that seemed to be the only successful operations in the area. While both struggling to pay rent in the expensive city and living pay check to paycheck, they thought of the women before them that had taken an ounce of courage and turned it into a triumph. With only $200 in hand, they jumped head first into creating Fleuri.
Fleuri’s pieces are not meant to be trendy or temporary. Kirsten and Hilary wanted to make jewellery pieces that could be heirlooms for years to come. Each piece is made by hand, using locally sourced materials to create the pieces they had always dreamt of. They name each piece after a historic woman that has inspired them to follow their ambitions and take a leap of faith.
In this episode we discuss :
How Hilary & Kirsten met (it’s a funny story!)
The story of how they both left their jobs in fashion to start a brand
Running a business when they now live 16 hours away from each other
The experiences they encountered starting in a male dominated experience
How BLM & Covid have affected their business
Where they take inspiration from & what they have planned for the future!
BTW you can hear Hilary’s dog at the beginning as she has a cone on but we fix it after a couple of mins!

00:15:12
This solo episode is me reading my article that was featured in The Delicate Rebellion magazine! I was incredibly excited when Hannah asked me to write this in my natural tone of voice and keeping it light hearted!
The Delicate Rebellion is a beautiful print publication to challenge the mainstream media's portrayal of women and to bring your peepers back from screen to print.
Last year, Hannah launched The Collective, an online community that pairs the wild ones featured in the mag with the readers to provide a community with the added benefits of mentorship, online workshops, support and encouragement.
With collaboration at the heart of everything, she also runs workshops and meet-ups across the UK to bring the community together for real life hangs, because there's more to life than social media #PRAISEBE.

105 - The Story of How I Left My Job in Fashion to Go Self Employed
00:22:15
For anyone that missed the live I did a while back, here’s the story of how it took me around 6-9 months to work out a plan to hand in my notice!
Last year, in one of my many lockdown clear outs I discovered all the notebooks I used to carry around with me full of notes, hopes and plans about how I was planning to leave my job! It was so fascinating to see that actually ... it had all come true!
I know during this period that many of you will be toying with the idea of leaving your job to work freelance and I honestly couldn't recommend it more!
Here's a look into how I did it - it felt VERY scary to put this out as I've literally never shown these to anyone!!! I hope this helps you and if you have any questions about working together on this topic I'd love to hear from you!

046 - Are You Emotionally Ready To Become Richer? With Jen @ The Money Medium
00:57:26
Jen MacFarlane, otherwise known as The Money Medium, is both a money mentor and a master of the subconscious mind. I first met her through Sarah Akwisombe when she launched her Money & Manifesting course about 3 years ago & fell in love with her messages!
She works with women who want to transform their beliefs about money and shift the physical, emotional and energetic blocks that stand between them and their ability to manifest the lives they desire.
Through her work, Jen uses a rich mix of hypnosis, mindfulness, meditation, reprogramming, self-mind control, the laws of the universe, online business creation and financial intelligence, combined with her innate gifts of empathy and intuition to clear her clients’ energy and help them reprogram their wealth paradigms.
In this episode we discuss :
A piece of advice Jen gave me to help leave my job
How Jen works with her clients to increase their wealth
Common mistakes people make in blocking their own financial growth
How resistance may be showing up in your life & how to overcome it
A little sprinkle of magic too!

100 - An Exclusive Interview with the Team @lifeofabaa
00:14:14
If you have worked in fashion buying then I’d be very surprised if you haven’t heard of the meme account @lifeofabaa! Some of you may know about it and some of you may not but it’s a super niche instagram profile that started off talking about the day to day life of a buying office! It very quickly grew in popularity and actually escalated into something more serious when it exposed sexual allegations at different companies such as cough cough ASOS.
For many reasons, the people behind the account have decided to remain anonymous so I sent over some questions via email and I’ll be reading out their replies! I wanted a really fun & special guest for episode 100 so here it is!
In this episode we discuss :
what it looks like to run an anonymous account & the challenges they face with it
the scandalous activities BTS and in their DM’s
the plans & goals for the future of the account
