12 Jun 2024Exploring Our Attachment Styles With Kat Weed | 01301:22:18

Let’s look at our attachment styles from a different perspective! I invite you to join Kat Weed and I as we share both our professional and personal experiences regarding the patterns we can find ourselves in when it comes to work, relationships, and dating.

Attachment patterns can fall on such a wide spectrum, and as you’re listening, I invite you to reflect on how you navigate relational experiences. Are you someone who avoids and moves away? Are you someone who easily becomes anxious? Do you find yourself disorganized and all over the place? Maybe you experience a mix of all the above!

Be sure to take the time to pause and notice what’s going on for you throughout our conversation!

About the Guest:

Kat Weed, MA Psych, is a therapist, speaker, guide & overall shit-disturber in her industry. She is also a highly-relatable human who has walked her own twisty & turvy path in this life. She works with growth-oriented, high-functioning women who feel stuck & frustrated because they keep repeating unhelpful patterns over and over, no matter how hard they've tried to change or how many self-help books they have stacked next to their bed. She helps them to uncover who they *actually* are underneath all of their "baggage" (aka their brilliant survival & attachment strategies just masquerading as baggage!), so that they can live their lives based on *who they are*, not who they learned they had to become. She currently works one-on-one with these women, but also has a highly-curated, transformational, BS-free 12-week small group program coming out in September 2024.

03 Apr 2024The Principles - Part 1 | 00200:58:25

This is part 1 of the 2 part series where I guide you through my principles and share some practices for you to explore how to deepen your experience of yourself.

I’d like to invite you to pause and notice! Are you ON and alert? Disconnected and shutdown? In an exploratory state? In this episode I speak to the threat response cycle and how our state is often a reflection of our trauma and us stuck somewhere in that cycle. By understanding your autonomic nervous system you’ll also be able to more clearly reflect on the way you move through your day to day. Lastly, I invite you to consider when you’re exploring from more of a top down or a bottom up perspective. By paying attention to when you use your resources and coping strategies you’ll be able to notice when you’re directing your experiences versus when you’re staying with your experiences and discovering what else is possible!

This is Part 1 of a 2 part series that can be used as a resource as you explore what comes up for you in the Experiential Podcast. Be sure to download the Experiential Guide to support you in reflecting and inquiring. And remember, less is more. Pause often to digest and integrate what you’re learning here. And I encourage you to come back to this episode again and again!

This episode is for those of you who are curious about the deeper layers of the human experience, explored through the understanding of our own patterns and of those around us.

In this episode, Nicole invites listeners to explore the deep layers of the human experience by reflecting on the patterns and behaviors that often govern our lives. Nicole dives into the power of interpersonal dynamics, discovering how connection and safety in our relationships can impact our lives. Join us as we get more attuned to our own patterns and those of others!

24 Jul 2024The Illusion Of Control | 01901:15:58

What is your relationship with control?

In this episode, I'm joined by Rae Haddow who has been a client of mine since 2019. We delve into the multifaceted nature of "control" and its profound effects on our lives. We explore how control manifests through personal power, self-discipline, and the delicate balance between holding on and letting go. Rae shares her own experiences with the swift reactions driven by the need to control and the underlying fear of relinquishing it. Control can lead us into a false sense of safety that can lead to stagnation and unresolved issues. Through patience, pausing and giving ourselves grace we can foster deeper connections and relinquish the illusion of control. Join us as we create space to understand the nuances of control and its impact on our lives.

03 Apr 2024The Principles - Part 2 | 00300:44:46

This is the second part of the 2 part series where I guide you through my principles and share some practices for you to explore how to deepen your experience of yourself.

In this episode we explore our survival patterns. By recognizing how you experience yourself while in these patterns you can start to get curious about why they are there, how it is that they protect you, manage and control things, and keep you distracted from being in your experiences, and you can start to recognize what else is possible!

You’ll also explore how you get in our way of transforming out of your patterns by trying to fix things and coming at things from more of a top down approach. And you’ll discover how to support yourself from a place of wholeness and as an empathic witness.

Remember, this series is a way for you to lay a foundation for all the future episodes to come! There’s a lot to take in here. Let whatever nuggets landed be digested. I’ll be coming back to these principles and these ways of working again and again. Be sure to download the Experiential Guide to support you in reflecting and inquiring. And remember, less is more!

17 Jul 2024How Judging & Getting Annoyed Is Helpful! | 01800:39:08

Judgement and getting annoyed are a part of being a whole human!

Today, I explore the complexities of judgment and annoyance, and invite you to examine your own perspectives and values as you tune in. It is important to recognizing when judgment stems from a place of survival or alignment with one's values. Throughout the conversation, I invite you to create some space to see and understand where judgement and annoyance is coming from, to create more connection to self and others.

19 Jun 20243 Reasons Why You’re Getting In The Way Of Your Own Healing | 01400:33:11

If you feel stuck in your healing journey, chances are that you're engaging in one, if not all, of these three patterns. You might be preoccupied with searching for the "why" behind your feelings and seeking a detailed, step-by-step process for healing. This often leads you to looking outside yourself for answers, instead of accessing and trusting the wisdom and knowledge within you.

You’re likely in conflict with yourself because you’re trying to live or be a certain way, while another part of you is stuck in survival, determined to protect you from experiencing the intensity or threat of what it feels like it’s protecting you from.

Additionally, you might not be accustomed to being fully present with your experiences. Paying attention to “what is” isn’t something we’re taught to do!

To gain new perspectives and explore how to move past these obstacles, I encourage you to listen to this episode. It could help you get out of your own way and advance on your healing journey.

Receiving praise has always been challenging for me, but I’ve noticed how it's starting to shift, and I want to help you get curious about how you handle compliments or recognition.

I also give you a tour of my Discover program, a journey I’m incredibly proud of, as I prepare to run it again. Whether you’re navigating your own entanglements with praise, pride or simply interested in learning more about Discover, I hope you find something meaningful in this episode. Let's dive in and see what shows up for you!

17 Apr 2024The Journey With Freeze | 00501:16:51

In this episode I am joined by some of my clients and program participants to discuss our journey with freeze. We share what it was like to begin to recognize that we were living in freeze and how our explorations and relationship to ourselves and our survival patterns continue to evolve over time. You’ll notice that the common theme is that we’re all still navigating aspects of freeze! The key lies in noticing how we’re feeling towards these ways we’re showing up because this is where we often get caught thinking there’s something wrong with us, we spiral into trying to find the ways to fix and change what’s happening when all that’s doing is creating conflict for our reasons for freezing! The importance lies in learning how to create space and witness ourselves in these experiences while being curious about what’s at the core of it all and what else may become possible.

My hope with this episode is that you gain more of an awareness of your own experience of freeze and the kinds of survival patterns you find yourself in due to having to disconnect, numb, dissociate and shut down.

I’d love to know what pieces you can relate to in this and what’s helpful! Feel free to share with me on social media.

19 Sep 2024My Experiences With Staying Small | 02700:26:35

Lately, I’ve been reflecting a lot on my relationship with self-promotion and marketing, and how I tend to "stay small" when it comes to talking about myself or what I offer. I share my own experience of hiding when I needs to promote my work, while feeling completely alive and connected when I’m actually with clients, doing the work I loves. That contrast really hits home for me—the joy and flow I feel when I’m in the middle of supporting others, versus the fear and hesitation that comes up when I have to be seen more publicly.

I am tying this pattern to deeper fears, like being ostracized or betrayed, and it makes me think about how these old wounds can quietly shape our choices today, keeping us from reaching more people or fully stepping into who we are. It’s a reminder for me of the importance of grace, awareness, and community in helping us move through these patterns. I’m also realizing how vital it is to really pause and inquire into our own needs and values—especially when we’re being marketed to or considering different programs.

I’d love to invite you to reflect on this too. How much do you trust the unfolding of your own path? What do you feel might be holding you back? I’d love to hear what you discover about yourself in this process!

10 Jul 2024Daydreaming & Theta States with Deanna Lankin | 01701:34:00

Do you remember a time where you got lost in a daydream?

The state in which we can access a deeper part of ourselves through daydreaming is the theta state. In this episode I am happy to be joined by Deanna Lankin as she shares her journey to tapping into the healing power of the theta state. Deanna shares how, in her younger years, she had seen her guides, was frightened by them and felt that she needed to cloak herself to "fit in" to society instead of listening and being guided. Through healing from a spinal injury using hypnotherapy, Deanna was able to dive into a dream-like state where she shifted her perspective on what was possible for letting go of old patterns and welcoming the change.

If you’re interested in learning about accessing your theta state to connect to your inner potential, I encourage you to have a listen!

03 Apr 2024My Journey. My Perspectives. My Intention. | 00100:45:35

I’m excited to share some of my story, some of the ways I work, and some of my perspectives with you! My journey has been one that involved being “fine” and having it all together and I’m grateful for these survival patterns because they got me to where I am today! AND. My ongoing explorations involve the edges of not being fine, not having it all together, and being in the vulnerability of my rawness as I slowly thaw and remember the depth of my human experience.

As a Somatic Experiencing and Feldenkrais® Practitioner, I am in constant awe and curiosity of the ways we as humans move through life. The more I see people in their wholeness, the more I also see them in their survival patterns. The amount of grace I experience for this continues to deepen and the level of ease and surrendering it’s leading me to is quite profound.

I look forward to sharing this journey with you in so many ways!

Based on her life history, she was supposed to live a life of pain, regret, and disconnection and have a career that didn’t spark joy, just to make a living. Trauma runs in her family: the Holocaust, violence and war, financial trouble and poverty.

It also runs in her own life: moving multiple times as a refugee, sexual assault, and emotional neglect. And yet, through it all, through pain and working through her triggers, she is able to keep coming back to deep aliveness and presence, build a thriving business and support thousands.

25 Sep 2024Get Curious - Being An Empath - The Gifts & The Challenges | 02801:15:05

Once a month I host a "Get Curious" episode where people like you, who are interested in untangling from their patterns, join in to explore with some guidance.

In this episode, I dive deep into the experiences of being an empath, especially for those who easily pick up on the emotions and energy of others. Joined by Keisja and Stacey, we explore both the gifts and challenges of being highly sensitive. Together, we look at how our developmental experiences shape our empathy and survival patterns. This conversation isn’t just about strategies for self-protection, though we touch on those. Instead, we dig into the core of why we sense danger in certain environments and how that influences our behaviors. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed by others' emotions or unsure where your feelings end and theirs begin, this episode will resonate. I invite you to reflect on your own experiences and explore how healing can shift you from merely surviving as an empath to fully embracing its gifts.

08 May 2024Rewiring Is Possible! Discover The Threads That Are At Play | 00800:38:58

They say that what’s wired together, fires together. Here’s something else to consider. What fires together, ends up getting wired together! This is often a result of trauma and being stuck in the threat response cycle. By recognizing the many different threads that are entangled in the ways you’re stuck in survival, the more you’ll be able to tease apart what’s at play to support a new story to unfold.

Thank goodness for neuroplasticity and the brain and nervous system’s ability to be reprogrammed. Re-wiring IS possible! The key lies in not getting too wrapped up in the story of what happened, but instead bring your awareness and curiosity to what your experiences. Remember, there’s nothing to fix.

See what it’s like to explore in a way where you’re simply deepening your awareness around what’s at play. You may be surprised at how some simple awareness and curiosity can lead to some untangling, more space, and possibly even a shift in what it is you’re stuck in! Be sure to download The Experiential Guide and to refer back to Ep 2 and 3 to support any deeper inquiries!

01 May 2024Having Hard Conversations With Angela Walkley | 00701:17:14

How easy is it for you to recognize and express what it is that you’re feeling and which of your needs aren’t being met? Do you find communicating what you’re experiencing to others challenging!? If so, I encourage you to check out this episode! I’m joined by Angela Walkley, a NonViolent Communication assessor and trainer and the two of us dive into a conversation around the art of recognizing feelings and needs, not making assumptions and catching when we’re blaming, judging and in perceived stories and the importance of empathy. Angela shares a recent situation she was navigating to support us in making more sense of the brilliant ways NonViolent Communication can help in times of conflict and where people may have very different experiences at play. As someone who’s only recently been introduced to the NonViolent Communication world, I’m excited to share this conversation with you because this work has helped me take more responsibility for my own experiences and see the bigger picture more clearly!

About the Guest:

Angela dwells in the beauty of needs that arise in herself and between herself and others. She is an Assessor and Trainer with the international Center for NonViolent Communication. She worked for over a decade leading heart-based decision-making related to land and social justice with indigenous, government, industry and environmental organizations. She meets groups in the space that divides them - to help them hear the depth of what matters to them, to express themselves with care and to find a path forward together. In the more recent decade, she has been offering transformational programs for those that are looking to cultivate a personal and global consciousness of openness, inclusion and connection. Angela lives, works, plays and prays on the unceded lands of the Sahtloot, Sasitla, Leeksun and Puntledge people in western Canada.
