With the drive to close those gaps for all children, she has worked as a founding teacher, instructional coach, curriculum content specialist, adjunct professor, and educational consultant. Dr. Askew has a Bachelor of Science in Human and Organizational Development, a Master of Education in Organizational Leadership, and a  doctorate in Leadership and Learning in Organizations,  all from Vanderbilt University's Peabody College.

She is a graduate of the inaugural cohort of the New Orleans Stand for Children Education Leadership Institute (ELI). She is a graduate of the Urban League of Greater New Orleans' Urban Leaders for Equity and Diversity (ULEAD) 2016 Cohort. With a committed founding team, she is humbled and driven towards the opportunity to open an excellent K-8 school that provides a quality option rooted in the voices of the community of New Orleans.

Craig Randall received his Bachelor’s degree, yes in English, from the University of Washington, his Master’s in Education in Guidance and Counseling from Saint Martin’s University, and his principal certification from Western Washington University. 

He has worked as an elementary and middle school counselor, including one intense year in the classroom with students with severe behavior issues. In addition, he has served as an academic advisor at the college level. He has worked as a collegiate basketball coach. He has worked as a teacher at the elementary, middle, and high school levels as well as in college. 

And, of course, Craig has worked in the job of his passion and calling: assistant principal and principal. Craig has done his work at schools both in the US and overseas. Now, as the author of the book and founder of the business with the same name: Trust-Based Observations, Craig’s goal is to transform the world of teacher observation and evaluation. Sharif El-Mekki is the Founder and CEO of the Center for Black Educator Development. The Center exists to ensure there will be equity in the recruiting, training, hiring, and retention of quality educators that reflect the cultural backgrounds and share common socio-political interests of the students they serve. The Center is developing a nationally relevant model to measurably increase teacher diversity and support Black educators through four pillars: Professional Learning, Pipeline, Policies, and Pedagogy. So far, the Center has developed ongoing and direct professional learning, mentoring, and coaching opportunities for Black teachers and other educators serving students of color. 

The Center also carries forth the freedom or liberation school legacy by hosting Freedom School sites that incorporates research-based curricula and exposes high school and college students to the teaching profession to help fuel a pipeline of Black educators. 

Prior to founding the Center, El-Mekki served as a nationally recognized principal and U.S. Department of Education Principal Ambassador Fellow. His school, Mastery Charter Shoemaker, was recognized by President Obama and Oprah Winfrey, and was awarded the prestigious EPIC award for three consecutive years as being amongst the top three schools in the country for accelerating students’ achievement levels. The Shoemaker Campus was also recognized as one of the top ten middle school and top ten high schools in the state of Pennsylvania for accelerating the achievement levels of African-American students. 

In 2014, El-Mekki founded The Fellowship – Black Male Educators for Social Justice, an organization dedicated to recruiting, retaining, and developing Black male teachers. El-Mekki blogs on Phillys7thWard, is a member of the 8 Black Hands podcast and serves on several boards and committees focused on educational and racial justice.

Dr. Kristilynn Turney served in public education for 20 years in the Greater Cincinnati and Dayton areas before starting her own company in August 2019. Rachelle Dené Poth is an edtech consultant, presenter, attorney, author, and teacher. Rachelle teaches Spanish and STEAM: What’s nExT in Emerging Technology at Riverview Junior Senior High School in Oakmont, PA. Rachelle has a Juris Doctor degree from Duquesne University School of Law and a Master’s in Instructional Technology, and earned a second doctorate, focused on Educational Technology.

I was selected as the 2017 Outstanding Teacher of the Year by PAECT (the Pennsylvania Association for Educational Communications in Technology, the PA affiliate of ISTE) and by the NSBA as one of the "20 to watch" educators.

In 2016, I received the Presidential Bronze Award for Volunteer Service to Education, the Silver in 2017 and in 2018, I received the Gold Award, for having done over 500 hours of volunteer service in education as part of ISTE.

I am proud to be involved in several communities including being a Buncee Ambassador, Edmodo Certified Trainer, Nearpod Certified Educator and PioNear, Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert, and Google Certified Levels I and II.

I am the author of 'In Other Words: Quotes that push our thinking," "Unconventional," and "The Future is Now: Learning and Growing Together," published by Edugladiators. As a contributing author, I wrote chapter 6 of the Edumatch book “Snapshot in Education 2016” focused on Blended Learning, Chapter 3 on Project Based Learning in Edusnap 17, and on Power of PLN in Edusnap 18. Maximus Wright is a proud Yazoo City, Mississippi native and father of four, Jaime, Jeremiah, Zacharius, and Jordan. 

He is a 1997 graduate of Tougaloo College, where he majored in Philosophy and Religion with an emphasis in English. 

Maximus has been mentored and trained by “Mamie Brown's Baby Boy”, Les Brown, as a motivational speaker and has traveled the country speaking and conducting seminars.

Dr.  Bryant is a pro-active community activist. She sits on many community and collegiate boards such as Los Angeles Harbor College. She volunteers her time providing community care, inspirational speeches, lectures, mentoring, and resources to youth state facilities and at-risk youth programs. In 2014, Dr. Bryant founded the “Dr. Bryant Team” which created and provided employment opportunities. The “Dr. Bryant Team” focused on providing food, hygiene, clothing, programs, and resources to the disadvantaged communities in Los Angeles County all of which Dr. Bryant solely funded. As a result, of her impact on the community, Dr. Bryant founded the Dr. Bryant Foundation; a 501c3 non-profit that provides school supplies, clothing, computers, and exposure to the underprivileged, and implements needs and resolutions to the community to advance the inner-city youth, and families.

Dr. Kendrah Underwood is a Global Education Consultant and the founder of Level Up Education Consultancy. She has worked in schools across inner-city, urban, suburban, and rural communities, including both traditional public and charter schools. Dr. Underwood’s guiding principle is straightforward: “I prioritize what’s best for kids, not what’s easiest for adults. 

She has served in traditional public, private, and charter schools in cities such as Atlanta, Chicago, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Tampa, St. Louis, and Houston. Dr. Underwood also taught college-level courses for four years and has held roles such as principal, assistant principal, grade team leader, content leader, and new teacher mentor. As a 12th-grade advisor, she guided all 23 of her advisees to college acceptance, with two achieving valedictorian and salutatorian honors. 

In addition to her educational leadership, Dr. Underwood initiated "Bridging the Divide," a community outreach program in partnership with the Chicago Police Department, and created several viral videos showcasing her passion for learning and engagement. Dr. Underwood defines success as the positive impact one can make on others’ lives and believes that one’s story is not a fortress but a source of fuel.

Hans Appel is an educator, speaker, and writer deeply committed to inspiring the whole child. Will Deyamport, III, Ed.D. is a District Instructional Technologist for Hattiesburg Public School District, serving grades K-12. He is also a digital transformation strategist, writer, and podcaster. Dr. Barnes has facilitated countless, engaging professional learning opportunities, throughout the nation, focused on the improvement of teaching and learning. She has created College and Career Readiness (CCRS) lesson plans for Alabama’s early childhood educators for Alabama Learning Exchange (ALEX) and has served as a grant proposal evaluator for the Alabama First-Class Pre-K Grant. 

LaTonya is an active member of several professional organizations, including serving as a founding member of the Alabama Alliance of Black School Educators (AL-ABSE) and the National Board Network of Accomplished Minoritized Educators (NB-NAME). Dr. Barnes is proud to serve on the Board of Directors for the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS). Dr. Barnes has received many awards, including receiving the 2016 Outstanding Service Award from Alabama State University – Central Alabama Regional Education Inservice Center and earning the distinguishment of 2015 Educator of the Year from Junior Achievement of Alabama. Christian Howard is a licensed professional counselor with certifications as a national board-certified psychotherapist and certified clinical mental health counselor. She is a mental health advocate and behavioral consultant originally from Los Angeles but raised in San Bernardino, California. Overcoming the odds from her environment where it was plagued by gang violence. She decided to attend Clark Atlanta University as a Psychology major postponing her dreams of being a medical doctor to understand why individuals behave the way they do after experiencing a traumatic event with the death of her high school sweetheart. After graduating from undergraduate school, she joined the U.S. Army to become a Civil Affairs non-commissioned officer. Joining the military forces to provide those in her community an outlet and resources outside of gang affiliation and leading by example that there is a pathway out generational trauma. 

Christian later found herself receiving a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2015 (Licensed Professional Counselor track) from Argosy University, which led to her being inducted into the Chi Sigma Iota Honor Society. Shortly thereafter starting the program she transferred to the DC campus, where she was able to work under Mayor Vincent Gray and Michelle Obama’s mission to end homelessness which affected individuals, families, and teen moms in Washington, DC area. Currently, she works at the Department of Human Services as an appointed Special Assistant to the Family Service Administration. She operates a private practice, Gracefully Fulfilled Counseling and Coaching Services transforming individuals and families through neuroplasticity. She owns CL Enterprise, LLC a company geared to transform marginalized communities domestically and internationally by applying 14 years of experience she has working in underserved communities using culturally competent best practices from an indigenous perspective. We must advocate, coordinate, and enhance sustainability for the populations we serve. 

Christian has done several speaking engagements for example The inaugural Build Your Own Brand Retreat conference participating in a panel discussion on mental stability and emotional intelligence. She co-created Proof-The Live show to curate a safe space for individuals to discuss mental health and entrepreneurship. She was a guest speaker for the annual Women Who Boss Youth Summit and Mental Health Mondays by BTF Clothiers. She continues to partner with Get Home Safe that brings the community and mental health professionals together to break the stigma and normalize therapy. She has partnered with DC Now Virtual Brunch during the pandemic to bring awareness to mental health resources. Starr Sackstein started her teaching career at Far Rockaway High School more than sixteen years ago, eager to make a difference. Quickly learning to connect with students, she was able to recognize the most important part of teaching: building relationships. Fostering relationships with students and peers to encourage community growth and a deeper understanding of personal contribution through reflection, she has continued to elevate her students by putting them at the center of the learning.

Currently, Sackstein is the Director of Humanities (business, English, library, reading, social studies, and world languages) in West Hempstead, New York. While in her first year of leadership, she completed her advanced leadership certification at SUNY New Paltz. Taking what she learned in classes and applying her classroom leadership to a team of teachers, Sackstein was able to start growing as a new school leader, building relationships and demonstrating the kind of leadership she would have liked from her own past administrators.

Prior to her current role, Sackstein was a Teacher Center teacher and ELA teacher at Long Island City High School in New York. She also spent nine years at World Journalism Preparatory School in Flushing, New York, as a high school English and journalism teacher where her students ran the multimedia news outlet WJPSnews.com. In 2011, the Dow Jones News Fund honored Starr as a Special Recognition Advisor, and in 2012, Education Update recognized her as an outstanding educator. In her current position, Sackstein has thrown out grades, teaching students that learning isn't about numbers but about the development of skills and the ability to articulate growth.

In 2012, Sackstein tackled National Board Certification in an effort to reflect on her practice and grow as an educational English facilitator. After a year of close examination of her work with students, she achieved the honor. She is also a certified Master Journalism Educator through the Journalism Education Association (JEA). Sackstein also served as the New York State Director to JEA from 2010-2016, helping advisors in New York enhance journalism programs.

She is the author of Teaching Mythology Exposed: Helping Teachers Create Visionary Classroom Perspective, Blogging for Educators, Teaching Students to Self-Assess: How Do I Help Students Grow as Learners?, The Power of Questioning: Opening Up the World of Student Inquiry, Hacking Assessment: 10 Ways to Go Gradeless in a Traditional Grades School, and Hacking Homework: 10 Strategies That Inspire Learning Outside the Classroom co-written with Connie Hamilton. Most recently, Starr has published From Teacher to Leader: Finding Your Way as a First-Time Leader Without Losing Your Mind (DBC), Peer Feedback in the Classroom: Empower Students to be the Experts with the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD). Sackstein has also contributed to compilation works in 2017 and 2018: Education Write Now edited by Jeff Zoul and Joe Mazza and What Connected Educators Do Differently with Routledge.

She blogs on Education Week Teacher at "Work in Progress," where she discusses all aspects of being a teacher and education reform. She made the Bammy Awards finals for Secondary High School Educator in 2014 and for blogging in 2015. At speaking engagements around the world, Starr speaks about blogging, journalism education, bring your own device, and throwing out grades, which was also highlighted in a recent TedxTalk entitled “A Recovering Perfectionist’s Journey to Give Up Grades.” In 2016, she was named one of ASCD's Emerging Leaders.

Prior to starting The Gray Matter Experience, Robbins worked for Honda Financial Services for two years post graduation. Upon leaving HFS, Britney worked for Chicago-based startup, Doggyloot as an Account Executive. It was in this role, she realized her interest in entrepreneurship as the company was a portfolio company under Sandbox Industries, a local
venture capital firm. After Doggyloot, she worked for three years as a Program Manager for Future Founders, a non-profit exposing youth to entrepreneurship. After helping low-income
students across the city learn about entrepreneurship, Britney recognized a gap that needed to be filled, thus The Gray Matter Experience was created.

Britney is passionate about the intersection of entrepreneurship, education and youth and
believes in empowering others to use their passions and strengths to create opportunities for themselves. In 2015, she authored and published her first children's book, The Adventures of Buster & Duval, and is working to release the second in the series this fall. Britney is committed to inspiring youth to reach their full potential and and aims to continue to create channels for them to do so.

“They can take everything away from you, except your education!” These are words instilled by my father since I was a little girl. The child of immigrants, I recall my parents working diligently as business owners and US Citizens, doing everything they could to adapt, learn English, and prioritize education. An unidentified ELL, I grew up in a bilingual home.

In 2004, I graduated from San Diego State University with a  Bachelor’s in Liberal Studies Elementary Education with a Spanish minor and studied abroad in Spaindedicating myself to becoming proficient in my native language, finding a love for being bilingual!

I have had the pleasure of working with students from various socio-economic statuses and ethnic backgrounds. My career began in the historic all-black catholic school, St. Francis Xavier School in Miami. In California, I worked with ELLs in a public school continuing my education at Cal State Bakersfieldearning my California Teaching Credentials including classroom management and Guided Language Acquisition Design AKA GLAD strategies. In 2009, I attended MountSt. Mary’s College- Cleared California Teaching Credentials with a focus in technology and social-emotional learning. I also served as a committee member for the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

By 2011, I moved to New York, teaching in a Charter School with opportunities to advocate for children. By 2012, I earned my Master’s degree in Administration at St. John’s University, and an extension in Bilingual Education at Queens College. Today, I am a 6th-grade bilingual teacher in Brentwood School District, a district-wide committee member of the Instructional Rounds team introduced by Harvard University, and a hand-selected participant for the NY State Next Generation Learning Standards Alignment Educator Review panel.

Throughout my years as an educator, I have always treated and advocated for students as if they were my own. I am a believer in Malow’s law of hierarchy, paying close attention to my students’ physiological, social-emotional, and academic needs. I have also founded clubs, like the OLPH running club, Future Leaders Club to provide positive outlets, and the Financial Education club in partnership with Capital One Bank for students.

Recently, I have been honored as teacher of the month by the NYS TESOL association and Co-Chair of the Long Island, NY region.  Now my desire is to Educate with Love. My mission is to be a valuable resource, helping other teachers thrive, inspire, and LOVE their bilingual students by providing them with easy-to-use tips, effective, research-based activities, a platform to build community, and encouragement to motivate their students and grow together.
