But she’s mostly unpacked and so excited to be back this week! After a longer-than-expected break, Diana is back just in time for a holiday episode.

03 Jan 2023023: Clutter is Stealing Your Time00:16:48

It’s the new year's first episode, which means it’s a fresh start! Diana is excited about 2023 and all her ideas to help you this year.

As a busy mom, having excess creates more challenges in many ways you might not think of right away. And when you declutter, you see benefits in more areas of your life than just your home.

In this episode, Diana discusses three ways clutter is stealing the little free time you have as a busy mom.

We’ll also discuss:

  • What happens to your home when someone in your family is sick
  • How much time do you spend looking for things because stuff doesn’t have a dedicated spot in your home
  • The amount of time you spend picking up all the time
  • Clutter causes us to be overwhelmed, and then we tend to get stuck in a paralysis mode

We have the biggest decluttering challenge starting January 1st! It only happens twice a year, and the January challenge always has the most progress.

It’s not too late to register for the FREE 5-Day Decluttering Challenge from January 1st - 5th

All the duplicates, blurry photos, random screenshots, and similar photos can add up! Then there are so many photos we don’t do anything with because the great pictures get lost in the clutter.

In this episode, Diana shares two simple methods to help you declutter your digital photos.

We’ll also discuss the following:

  • Our 5-Day Decluttering Challenge was the biggest we’ve ever had! Get $100 off until midnight on Thursday, January 12. Visit www.dianarene.com/jan23 for all the details.

Have you ever wondered what to do with the sentimental items you decide to keep after decluttering? When we talk about decluttering, it doesn’t mean getting rid of everything. In this episode, Diana shares two types of memory boxes she uses in her family.

We’ll also discuss:

  • Using photo boxes for each member of the family
  • What type of things Diana has in her memory box
  • School memory boxes for the kids

24 Jan 2023026: Mindset in Motherhood00:14:00

When people talk about mindset shifts, it can be great, or it can be a little toxic. If we start thinking that everything in our life needs to be perfect and we always need to be positive, it could bring up a negative view of ourselves when that doesn’t happen. That isn’t real life! You can apply a mindset shift in a way that is healthy, and that will benefit you and your family.

In this episode, Diana discusses a favorite mindset shift that she applies to motherhood to help slow down, appreciate, and be present in the moment.

We’ll also discuss:

  • How Diana approached her life and business in the past.
  • The switch from “have to” to “get to.”
  • Why talking about mindset relates to decluttering.

07 Mar 2023032: Growing Out of Your Comfort Zone00:29:50

This episode is longer than usual, and the topic is a little different than a typical episode, but Diana wants to share an important lesson that was helpful in her life.

It’s really tempting to stay in our comfort zone, especially in the past few years, and not add anxiety, worry, or fear to our lives. Diana was told years ago by business coach James Wedmore, “Growth happens out of your comfort zone.” Challenging yourself to be okay with being uncomfortable, whether with something big or little, once a month or once a year, can help you grow. We all want to grow, whether in a business, personally, in parenting, or marriage. Try and think of an area in your life where you can take a tiny uncomfortable step and just sit it in for a while and see how it feels.

In this episode, Diana shares times when she went out of her comfort zone in order to grow.

We’ll also discuss:

  • Learn more about Diana’s story in Ep001: Meet Diana Rene
  • What Diana did at the beginning of creating ‘The Decluttered Mom’ to grow so she could better support moms with her business
  • Diana talks about a significant investment she made early on in her business and how it led to a recent opportunity
  • How being accepted to a mastermind group for a business forced Diana out of her comfort zone

14 Mar 2023033: Declutter Your DMs00:21:35

The Decluttered Mom’s Instagram account has steadily grown over the past five years to almost 140,000 followers, which is mindblowing! Instagram is a creative outlet for Diana that she enjoys. It’s also where she connects with all of you in stories, reels, and comments. And she loves connecting with this community in her DMs.

There is success in having an Instagram Reel go “viral” in that more moms can find The Decluttered Mom, relate to the content, and get some tips on how to make their lives easier. However, it can become negative and draining when those viral reels reach people that aren’t the target audience.

In this episode, Diana shares a new process she’s implementing to protect her energy while continuing to communicate with this community.

We’ll also discuss:

  • A little background about Instagram and when The Decluttered Mom started
  • The good and bad of having your social media content seen by the masses
  • How the people you follow on social media affect your mood in a positive or negative way

14 Nov 2023068: Laundry 101 with Melissa Dilkes Pateras00:35:31

On this week’s episode, Diana chats with laundry expert and author Melissa Dilkes Pateras all about laundry myths, best practices, and so much more.

You can find her on TikTok here: Laundrytok | Melissa Pateras (@melissadilkespateras) Official | TikTok

You can find her new book here: A Dirty Guide to a Clean Home: Housekeeping Hacks You Can't Live Without

In this episode, we cover:

Homemade laundry detergent is not effective and can damage your washing machine. The guest explained that commercial detergents are specifically formulated for high-efficiency machines and properly cleaning clothes. Homemade detergents often do not clean well and leave residue on clothes. As the host said, “Homemade laundry detergent is often not effective and can leave residue on your clothes. It's best to stick with commercial detergents that are specifically formulated for high-efficiency machines.”

  1. Look for natural, eco-friendly detergent options if you want to avoid harsh chemicals. Many major brands like Tide and Persil offer fragrance-free, dye-free options that work well. Check the ingredients to find simple, natural options.

  2. For most stains, pretreat with liquid laundry detergent and let it sit before washing. Dish soap like Dawn also works great for grease and oil stains. Hydrogen peroxide is excellent for whitening and brightening stains on white clothes. These methods avoid the need for most commercial stain removers. As the host recommended, “For most stains, pretreat with liquid laundry detergent and let it sit before washing. Dish soap like Dawn also works great for grease and oil stains.”

  3. Hot water is not necessary for most loads and can fade and damage clothes. Use cold water for the majority of loads to prolong the life of your clothes. Hot water is only needed for whites and when using oxygen bleach. According to the host, “Hot water is not necessary for most loads and can fade and damage clothes. Use cold water for the majority of loads to prolong the life of your clothes.”

  4. Disinfecting and sanitizing clothing is usually unnecessary and the products are often used incorrectly. Only disinfect when someone in the household is ill. Be sure to follow the directions carefully regarding water temperature, sit time, and rinsing. For general cleaning, hot water and detergent are sufficient. As the host explained, “Disinfecting and sanitizing clothing is usually unnecessary and the products are often used incorrectly. Only disinfect when someone in the household is ill.”

09 Jan 2024076: No Minimalism Needed00:11:44

After the new year, many people start thinking about decluttering their homes. And this is when we tend to hear how decluttering and minimalism go hand in hand. When you hear the word minimalism, what do you picture? It can look like a lot of different ways for different people. But it’s not decluttering. You can’t have a minimalist lifestyle without decluttering, but you absolutely can have a decluttered lifestyle without being a minimalist.

In this episode, Diana explains how she's considered minimal-ish and why you don't need to become a minimalist to feel the benefits of decluttering.

We’ll also discuss:

  • What’s minimal-ish?
