Ben certainly hasn’t been idle in life. A couple of years out of college and he started doing things and going places he never would have expected. From traveling to personal growth to marriage and child to divorce and parenthood to entrepreneurialism and inspiring others. Ben has flown an airplane on his own and has been scuba diving in the Galapagos. He has seen the animals of Tanzania and has traveled all over Europe with a 6-month-old child in tow. He has performed improv for over a decade, acted in several plays, and even a movie.  He has owned several businesses.  His biggest passion is exploring the mind. In all of his personal growth work, the one constant was that it all stems from the mind. Between personal growth and improv, he found this weird realm called expectations. Based out of Athens, GA, Ashes to Omens formed in late July 2017 as a 4 piece and have influences from Breaking Benjamin, Nothing More, Audioslave, Iron Maiden and more. Not long after their formation, vocalist James Branton was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer and underwent treatment for it.     The band quickly released their debut single “The Screws”, in August of 2017 and accompanied by a music video in February 2018. After overcoming cancer, Branton added a 2nd guitarist to the band and they became a 5 piece. Their self-titled indie album hit the indie charts in June 2018 and catapulted them to the number one position for Rock on Reverbnation in Athens, GA where it remained for 13 months.  Not long after the release of their ep, they began work on their official full length album.   The first release was "The Conflict Within". It was featured in Georgia Music Spotlight as being “energetic, straight ahead hard rock”. Full of monolithic mid-tempo hard rock riffs, anthemic (Slash-esque) guitar solos, and gritty, commanding vocals with the ideal level of attitude and energy for the genre. As well as getting a stellar review of their most recent single, "The Conflict Within" in Rawckus Magazine.  In July-August 2018, the band opened for legendary Cinderella frontman, Tom Keifer to a sold out crowd at Innovation Amphitheater to an over-welmingly positive response and left with the crowd on their feet.   They have also shared the stage with several national acts, including REHAB, Hallowpoint (Missouri) and Demon In Me (Cali). They are currently tracking their 2nd album with the incredible Led Belly Studios in Dawsonville, GA with engineer, Matt Washburn. Ledbelly is responsible for several releases from national acts, Mastadon, Artemis Pyledriver, Legion X and many more. The album will be produced by Billy Grey of Fozzy fame and mixed and mastered by Justin Davis of American Music out of Seattle, Washington. Justin is known for his amazing work with Lullwater’s most recent album.     Powering through 2020 they released "War Cry", a song about overcoming depression and ptsd during difficult times which was hosted on several hundred radio stations. Their upcoming single, "Speaking my mind" will be live June 11th, 2021 and will be the last single prior to their debut album release in October.

Born #Kel’Leiah McCarthy, Kai #Rose knew early that she was born to make music and to spread the message of #peace and #harmony that her chosen moniker means. The middle child in a family that was actively pursuing rap careers, #Kai followed her own path, penning #poetry and producing beats for others. However, it was the trying times of her youth—moving from home to home and living in a hotel room—that helped build strong character and made her ready to branch out. At 15, she was scouted by an artist and repertoire representative/indie filmmaker who brought her to #Charlotte, NC, to record beats for his films. Together, they also built a youth radio and television network called Next Kids Worldwide.     The exposure led Kai to be invited to travel independently as a #motivational speaker for at-risk boys and girls. In her messages, she encouraged audiences to practice discipline, finish their education, take care of their physical health, and follow their dreams. That was also when she began interviewing other young artists and seeing the possibilities for her own future. Kai’s dream included becoming a philanthropist someday in order to have a bigger platform to encourage and support people.    Returning to #Michigan, Kai began writing music again (some of it with her talented father, James McCarthy III). However, it wasn’t until early 2019that she felt ready to record. To that end, she started a record label called DA WAV LLC (an acronym for “Detroit Artist We Are Vibes”) with the intent of putting forth her own songs, as well as those of other rising stars in need of opportunity.     While some fans describe Kai’s music as pop or R&B, she calls it “chameleon funk” because “none of my songs sound like each other, even when they are in the same genre.” The artist, whose debut single was called “First Of All,” has been featured on Detroit’s FOX 2 News, Hot 107.5Underground Summer Jamz and My TV20, The Mother Love Show on LA Talk Radio, and more.    Currently, she’s partnered with Parallel Sound Studios, which has collaborated on her other popular releases like “Truth Hurts,” “Pinky Promise,” and “Playa 2.” Kai has also released music videos via partnerships with #HBkwan, Wesley Snipes, and GM #Entertainment. Leland Bruce Sklar (born May 28, 1947) is an American electric bass guitarist and session musician. He is a member of the Los Angeles-based instrumental group The Section, who served as the de facto house band of Asylum Records and were one of the progenitors of the soft rock sound prevalent on top-40 radio in the 1970s and 1980s. Besides appearing as the backing band on numerous recordings by artists such as Jackson Browne, Carole King, Phil Collins, and James Taylor, the Section also released three solo albums of instrumental rock. Both in The Section and separately, Sklar has contributed to over 2,000 albums as a session musician. Southern California alternative pop-rockers Iglu & Hartly are back after more than a decade, with a super catchy new single titled "Cooler." ++++ The track premiered earlier this week during the band's Spin Magazine Twitch live stream and is now streaming on all digital platforms: https://linktr.ee/Igluandhartly Watch the new music video for "Cooler" here: https://youtu.be/LUZLr0Su13Y. ++++ Originally formed in the foothills of Colorado by college friends Jarvis Anderson (lead vocals, production), Sam Martin (vocals, keyboards), and Simon Katz (guitar), the band moved to Los Angeles after dropping out of school. Luis Rosiles flew from Jarvis' hometown of Chicago to join the band as their drummer, and LA local Michael Bucher joined as bassist. The band paid its dues in the glitter and grime of seedy Hollywood nightclubs before being adopted by Hermosa Beach, a Los Angeles sea-side community with a strong punk rock heritage, which identified with their synth-heavy, sweaty and wildly packed shows. The love the band felt from the small beach town served as inspiration for the song "In This City" which became a worldwide hit in 2008. NME called it "an anthem in the making" while naming them one of "Twenty Bands Making America Cool Again." In their review of the band’s debut album “& Then Boom’, The Guardian called it “crisp electro-rock with a big hook in every tune...” while Q Magazine wrote, “This kitchen-sink hybrid works remarkably well.” As the “In This City” single grew massively, the synth-pop group rose up the UK pop charts (#5) and US alternative charts (#35). The band toured the UK, Europe, and North America at a non-stop pace (SPIN included them in their "Best of Bumbershoot Festival 2009" and called their performance "absurdly successful") which resulted in a strain on the group’s interpersonal relationships and by 2010 the band was dropped by the label, and the members went their separate ways. Iglu & Hartly lay dormant in an extended hiatus for 10 years, until last summer when the band reunited for California’s Hermosa Beach Summer Series festival in August of 2019. The audience response from that show prompted the guys to go back in the studio to record new music and this is the first single from those sessions. winterforever is a post-hardcore band from Boise, Idaho. What started as a small side project in 2018 quickly grew into something much bigger than it was ever supposed to be. The band has just released "inadvertently," the first single off their upcoming debut LP 'LÆVITAS', which is set for release on May 28. The single and album was produced, engineered, mixed, and mastered by Nathan Hussey of All Get Out. After spending their formative years in the regional circuit, Set For Tomorrow found their definitive lineup in Autumn 2019 with vocalist Patrick Ryan, guitarist/founding member Mikey Canoy, and bassist Brendan McGlathery. The group was later completed by drummer Deej Virtudazo and guitarist James Lovato the following year. During the 2020 pandemic, the band released multiple singles, and a concept video trilogy that includes ‘What Made You Stay’, ‘Purgatory’ and ‘Orphic’. It’s a story about loss and succumbing to the dark side of the supernatural. In April 2021, they released their first EP with their new lineup. ‘Dreaming in Analogue’ was met with high praise, and the band released two music videos to support its release with ‘Hearts in Doubt’ and ‘Hopeless’. Once COVID restrictions had been lifted, they quickly began playing shows again, including dates at Launch Music Conference and Blue Ridge Rock Festival. With nearly 40 years of experience between them, the band strives to put on the most memorable live performance possible. Set For Tomorrow is all about working towards being the best version of yourself, and that is what they aim to convey through their music.

In the summer of 2020, BLiND DRiVE’s grungy quintet reunited in the small dusty shed outside Timslizz’s (drums) house in the south shore. They already established chemistry and an aggressive stage presence from past projects. This time their goal was to create a dynamic, original sound inspired by diverse punk/post-hardcore/rock influences; fused with their trademark bouncy, emotional flare. Aaron (vox), still fresh off a cross country van trip, linked up with Jack (guitar), Joe (guitar), Nick (bass) and Timslizz with the goal of becoming their lead singer. His prolific songwriting and work ethic won the band over and their mutual wanderlust bonded them in their dreams of touring. BLiND DRiVE currently practices at Kennedy Studios in Burlington, MA. They recorded their first 2 songs with Aaron’s mentor Matt Blanchette at Revelry Studios in Manchester, NH. She was born October 13, 1978 in Orange County, California  Sadie Katz is best known for playing Sally Hillicker in Wrong Turn 6: Last Resort. Half Past Two is a 9-piece blend of ska, rock, reggae, and pop punk from Orange County, California. Their most recent EP “Something Blue” was released to acclaim this past summer and was produced by David Irish (Reel Big Fish, Suburban Legends) at Pot O’ Gold Recording in Orange, California. The band is now back with a new single "Shine" set for release on November 13, 2020. The song is the first single from the band's upcoming full-length due out in Summer 2021. Previously featured on the 'Ska Against Racism' compilation (Asian Man Records/Bad Time Records/Ska Punk Daily), the track has special meaning to the band, and frontwoman Tara Hahn in particular, who says, "Shine” is very personal and writing and releasing it has been cathartic. I penned it at the time my family found out that our daughter has Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), a neuromuscular disease. I didn’t write the words to share, but my bandmates really encouraged me to evolve the song, and we raised some awareness for SMA when we released it acoustic. But we thought it was pretty powerful and wanted it to be an energetic and exciting Half Past Two song like we're known for. Then the opportunity came; “Shine” belonged on Ska Against Racism because it’s about our responsibility to the future. Releasing it in this way, with a passionate feeling and full band for SAR is still very uplifting, and I’d just like people to rally for that if they can."

Semper Acerbus is an American metalcore band from Del Rio, Texas . Formed in December 2016 as part of Nelson Pou’s vision, the group consists of vocalist Nelson Pou, guitarists Miguel Martinez and Jerry “Shai” Garza, bassist Luis Valentin, and drummer Alex Arneson .

Since their formation, Semper Acerbus released their first EP in summer of 2017 and the have released 4singles from their upcoming first album, that will be available in early October l, in all platforms available.

Semper Acerbus primarily plays heavy metal and metalcore combining sounds from extreme metal and hardcore. Like some modern metalcore bands, Semper Acerbus vocally combine singing, screaming vocals, and growls. Semper Acerbus music mixes solid punched riffs, double bass drum patterns, power chords, dual-guitar harmonies, often punctuated by guitar solos and breakdowns.

According to the American foundation for suicide prevention, in 2017 alone, almost 50,000 Americans died by suicide.  In that same year, there were over 1 million suicidal attempts.  What can we do about this?  For the past 30 years, number one best-selling author, counselor and Life Coach David Essel has been helping people in the throes of depression, addiction, high anxiety, trauma and more… That can be some of the destabilizing factors in one’s life that leads to suicide attempts.   Here are a few tips that could help you, or someone you know, to help prevent long-term addiction, suicidal thoughts and eventually suicide:  

Number one. Speak to a professional. When you’re going through outrageous doubt, anger, resentment, fear… And more… Please find a minister, priest, Rabbi, counselor and/or Life Coach in order to lift yourself up and to see what is available to help you get your life back on track.  

Number two.  Women’s shelters, can be extremely helpful for women that are going through abuse in their relationships, to find support that is absolutely necessary and needed at this time.  

Number three.  The national suicide prevention lifeline is one 800.273.8255, an amazing resource that we should take advantage of when we’re having suicidal thoughts and potentially looking at taking suicidal action.  

Number four.  Please don’t give up. I let my addictions, depression, go on for way too long, part of the problem was that I am a male, and men traditionally refuse to ask for help, the other problem I had was that I was a motivational figure, a public speaker, a counselor and Life Coach, and I let my small ego get in the way of asking for help. Please don’t give up. Please.

Huntress is an American heavy metal band. It was founded in the underground music scene of Highland Park, California when lead vocalist Jill Janus moved to Los Angeles where she met an underground metal band called 'Professor' in 2009. Huntress was signed by Napalm Records in November 2011. A debut EP Off with Her Head was released in 2010. On December 27, 2011, they released their first single, "Eight of Swords", to promote their debut album, Spell Eater.

In October 2015, Janus posted a now-deleted note on Facebook announcing the band would finish its activities, but that she would continue to make music. Lead guitarist Blake Meahl, however, dismissed her statement as a consequence of her health and mental issues, and said the band would continue to perform.

On August 14, 2018, Jill Janus died by suicide.

We try to keep the episode lighthearted as well by talking about food, George Carlin and a certain body part. However it is done to break up the subject of suicide to keep you invested in what we say next.

Forged in 2002 out of a “necessity to scream, blast, and create emotions and get on stage to exchange them with an audience,” Greece’s W.E.B. have steadily forged a path to becoming one of the premier European symphonic extreme metal bands expressing darkness and death through adrenaline and poetry. An output that’s both candid and theatrical, W.E.B.is here to move you, provoke you, and invite you on a journey through raven dark and starless nights. With four albums already under their collective belt, 2021’s fifth full-length, Colosseum, is inarguably the band’s greatest and most direct work to date.

“We wanted this album to be as straightforward as we could make it. We wanted it to be aggressive and to the point, and at the same time we have pushed literally everything, higher, faster, louder, harder. It is our most metal album,” states guitarist/vocalist Sakis Prekas.

With Colosseum, the band welcomes two new members: drummer Nikitas Mandolas, who joined following the recording of 2017’s Tartarus and whose playing is perfectly suited to the music W.E.B. make, and bassist/vocalist Hel Pyre. “Apart from the great lyrics and the perfect bass performance, she offered her brutal and clean vocals on many parts of the album, leaving her own mark of fire. This is a completely new element for W.E.B. that really gave a unique character to the material.”

With the lineup solidified, writing commenced in early 2019, sending ideas back and forth to one another, subsequently honing each song over many pre-production sessions. “With no references, when we make music, our only thoughts are that we want to make it sound as awesome as we can,” states Sakis. The dramatic orchestrations are of course a large part of that, with Christos Antoniou of Septicflesh handling this aspect of the sound as he has on previous W.E.B. releases. “Metal is the most revolutionary music genre ever to exist; adding to it symphonic orchestra makes the experience even more epic and emotional in a massive way. We want our music to inspire the senses, thus we aspire to make it intense from our perspective.”

In titling the record Colosseum, W.E.B. draw comparisons with the past and present, in typically brutal style. “The Colosseum was the famous gigantic arena in Rome to give the people ‘food and spectacle,’ whereas what it truly did was to quench the mob’s thirst for blood and violence and keep their minds away from thinking; kind of an ancient TV-brainwash machine,” notes Sakis. “People nowadays seem to be thirsty for blood more than ever. They seek violence in almost everything. You can see it in social media, in the streets – even a simple fight between kids in a schoolyard attracts the other kids, not to separate but to watch. Humans miss the Colosseum and what it gave to their violent nature, even though they will never admit it. The title Colosseum is the irony of giving them what they secretly desire. Maybe then they will start to understand what they see in their mirror and hopefully it will bother them.”

Blue Ridge Rock Fest has come to a close and so have our review of this fantastic event. Yes there were many issues, but they were resolved for the most part and almost everyone had a magical weekend. Band performances were something that were very memorable and the feeling of the brotherhood and sisterhood of the metal family was something that was missed by all. Here is to many, many more!

In a house in the woods about 40 miles west of Cleveland, Hooked Like Helen began as the musical brainstorms of husband-and-wife, Jon and Nikki Stipp. Experimental home recordings quickly developed into an alt-pop vision; within a year of the project's inception, Nikki and Jon had shaped a new sound that reflected their truth and their influences in a seamless blend of organic and electronic production. The band recently released a five song EP 'Tragedy Of Physics', co-produced by Nikki and long-time friend and collaborator, Grammy-winning lsha Erskine. The EP boasts several singles: The music video for the angsty-beautiful piano ballad 'Liar ' was premiered on Radio Disney and was released Oct 4th as part of the soundtrack for the movie High Strung: Free Dance starring Thomas Doherty (Disney's Descendants 2 and 3). 'Liar ' is featured prominently in a ballet dance sequence in the film, choreographed by Tyce Diorio (So You Think You Can Dance.) Track 2 from the Tragedy Of Physics EFI 'No Turning Back ' premiered on CLASH Magazine who praised it as "a soaring, vastly uplifting piece of bouncy, addictive alt-pop". The song was then used in the official movie trailer for High Strung: Free Dance, making it the 5th song in total that Nikki and Jon wrote or co-wrote to be included on the film's soundtrack. The band's single 'Fear This Place Apart ' premiered on the highly inHuentia UK-based I'he Line Of Best Fit ' and received rave reviews from the publication. Previously, the band had music placed on MTV's Unlocking The Truth and included in the shows ofhcial Spotify playlist. Hooked Like Helen is now preparing for a mini-tour this November, with Jeff Martin (Trevor Hall Band) joining them on drums. The band's kick-off show will be at The Study in Hollywood on the 22nd. Hooked Like Helen's sound embodies a unique vein of pop music; Nikki's haunting, layered harmonies and lush vocal arrangements create a surreal atmosphere of simultaneous melancholy and hope, dissonance and resolve. Dark lyrics and themes of existential pondering provide an eerie contrast to HLH's melodic sensibilities. This episode is by far the most emotional I have ever been on a show. I won't lie, but I break down and I do very hard. However thanks to Dying Oath, the moments got easier. Dying Oath may be new to the scene, but it has been in the works for quite some time...

The band originated with many different members.  Through time and tryouts, they finally managed to put together the right musicians with the right amount of heart, drive, and dedication to push the project to new heights.

Originating from Rural Retreat, a small farm town in Southwest Virginia, the band has seen its share of hardships and struggles.  Just finding members who met all of necessary criteria took over a year to accomplish.  Nonetheless, Dying Oath has proven that although the area is dominated by Country and Bluegrass, that Metalcores crunchy rhythms and sweeping melodic leads accompanied by a combination of delicate clean and hardcore vocals, can indeed succeed to some extent.

In an effort to showcase some of the material that the band had been working on meticulously for the past several months, Lead Guitarist Josh Hagee decided to pick up the gear necessary to make rough recordings of their tracks and jump on a local event happening in Rural Retreat.  Although the tracks were much less that studio quality, the fans of the local scene really connected with what they heard.  This combined with a performance at "Rock Retreat III" hosted by DMP Presents and organized by Adam Seelbach (Inferior Design), launched the band into a status they never expected.

Dying Oath continues to push the envelope of the local metal community with the support of many other local acts and endorsements from Maverick, Hellfire Radio, Alloy X and Alloy Radio, Dirtbag Clothing, an Artist Development program with Will Baker of Eye to Eye Records and Hollow Intent, and an unheard of partnership with a Haunt Scene podcast known as Haunted Honeymooners.

Arrival of Autumn started as a band with a mission to play music without compromise and carve their way through the music scene on their own terms. Coming from a small city in Northern Canada, this was a necessary strategy, since the band didn't come up in a big city scene with regular promoters, venues and attendees. The band had to learn how to make their own opportunities, and did this by putting on their own shows, playing the roll of booking agent, finding the venues to play at, and promoting to every possible person in every possible way. This work ethic paid off, as every show was a lesson learned, and each new show came with a bigger audience than the last; more people were introduced to the band, and other bands from other cities began to take notice. ​​ With the band’s reach growing, they began to consistently play shows and festivals in the surrounding cities. The thirst for the road was strong. Recorded, mixed, and produced at Vudu Studios in Long Island, New York by Mike Watts (The Dillinger Escape Plan, Glassjaw, Hopesfall, Tides Of Man), SHY, LOW’s Snake Behind The Sun pulls from elements from previous eras of the band, but also pushes into new territory. The result is a slicker, more modern, layered three-dimensional sound. “The recipe for achieving that began with a lot of pre-production on our end,” comments guitarist Zak Bryant. “We demoed the entire record at home prior to entering the studio, reworking some songs several times before calling them done. From there, it was Mike [Watts]. After hearing his work with bands like O’Brother, Lume, Glassjaw, and others, we grew very fond of the drum sounds he got, and his ear for overall mix balance and production.”

The other important ingredient was drummer Dylan Partridge -- who at the time of recording, was a commissioned drummer and is now a fix band member -- and the phenomenal drum room at Vudu Studios. These two elements were crucial in creating the overall vibe and atmosphere for the record. “Holing up in the studio for three weeks to track the record was extremely beneficial and something none of us had done in the past -- it gave us the ability to really fine tune the songs alongside a producer, and the ability to experiment with various gear not normally at our disposal,” recalls Bryant.

The album title is a metaphor for the notion that darkness and negativity can remain hidden even among seemingly positive forces and positive beings in one’s life. As a matter of fact, the snake crawled out from behind the sun, while the band was in the studio recording the album: “By week three, there were talks of New York state locking down; with one day left before the lock down was alleged to go into effect, it became a mad dash to finish tracking the record so we could book it home to Richmond, Virginia,” says bass player Drew Storcks.

Vancouver, BC pop-punks Chief State have just released their new single "Metaphors" via Mutant   League Records.

The standalone single serves to tide fans over until their debut full-length, which is due out in 2022.

Nik Pang of Chief State says, “Metaphors is about being in a really dark place, but not knowing how to communicate   that to your loved ones. Instead of saying what you mean, and exactly how you feel, it’s easy to gloss over it and be super generic and vague.”

This is the first new music from the band since the release of the band's 2020 breakthrough 'Tough Love", which resonated with media and lovers of the genre alike.

The Suicide Notes ooze gutter-trash rock n' roll. Low-slung buzzsaw guitars and raw nicotine-soaked vocals, rock 'n' roll swagger, and whiskey on the rocks; the illegitimate sons of punk and sleaze, conceived on a bed of red wine, cigarettes, and back alley attitude.

Born under the bad sign of guttercat rock n’ roll in 2019, the band swiftly secured management and a sponsorship deal with Cloven Hoof Rum before launching two acoustic singles - which have had continuous radio play since their release in July 2019. These were soon followed up with a third well received single 'Momma Sang The Blues' and the release of their debut acoustic and electric 'Pleasures Of Despair' EPs. These gained rave reviews across the board and the band were No.1 on Only Rock Radio in Spain, and No. 16 across all stations on the Radio Indie Alliance Top 40.

The gig calendar for 2020 was all-but wiped out by the Covid 19 pandemic, but not before the band had garnered stellar reviews for their debut gig at London’s Hope & Anchor, and for performances at the Dublin Castle, Camden’s Unicorn, and Dementia Aware Fest in Wolverhampton. Securing a new management deal with Forge A.M.P and adding the extra sonic assault of second guitarist Danny Gould, the Suicide Notes were widely acknowledged as one of the Day 1 highlights of the rescheduled HRH Sleaze 2021, along with a number of festival appearances, support slots with Last Great Dreamers, Healthy Junkies ans a bunch of headline shows.

2022 sees a return to Hard Rock Hell with a headline appearance at HRH AOR, a support slot with ‘Greatest Rock n’ Roll Band In The World’ Supersuckers, and festival appearances at RoadRage, CC7 XIII Shades of Black, Mayors Fest, and a third Punk n’ Roll Rendezvous, plus a return to multiple Dementia Fest 2021 events.
