08 Feb 2022 | How do you determine what to focus on as a creator or influencer? | 00:23:46
One of the hardest things about starting out as a creator, is to figure out what to put your attention on. There are so many things to learn as a new influencer or content creator. It can feel overwhelming to navigate the world of content creation. Today, we're breaking down how to figure out what you should focus on as a creator. Not every influencer is on the same chapter or page of their journey. There are creators just getting started and there are influencers who are more mature in their journey. No matter that stage you’re at, understanding where you’re at as a creator can help you determine what to focus on in 2022. Here are the 4 Creator Life Stages: Seed: As a seed, you’re a new influencer. You just started your TikTok, YouTube or Instagram. Questions you’re asking as a Seed: · Who am I as a brand? · How do I take photos or videos? · Do I like creating content? Sprout: As a Sprout, you’re a new-ish influencer, but you’ve already started or established your social channel and platform like an Instagram, blog, or TikTok. As a new-ish influencer, you understand the importance of hashtags and you’ve built up your audience. But you might be focused on learning the business side of the influencer industry. Questions you might be asking as a Sprout: · What should be my content pillars or niches? · How do I build community and trust? · How do I work with brands? Daisy: As a Daisy, you’re a mature influencer with one or more established social media channels and/or platforms. As a mature content creator, you’ve established your brand and you’ve experienced making money off your side-hustle or full-time creative career. You know who you are as a brand. You know exactly who your audience is. You know the value you bring as a creator. Here are questions you might be asking as a Daisy:
Sunflower: As a Sunflower, you have established your brand across multiple platforms. You know who you are, who your audience is, the value you bring, and you’re consistently making money as a creator. Questions you might be asking as a Sunflower: · What’s next for my career? · What products and services should I expand next? · What can I do next to expand my audience? Today, we want to encourage you to take a mental inventory of where your life and creative career are at. It’s important to take a step back and reflect how you’re feeling about your life and creative passions. Understanding where you are helps you decide where you want to go and what goals you want to achieve. · What areas in my life am I looking for clarity? · What does growth mean to me? · Am I happy with my work-life balance? Why or why not? · If I’m not satisfied with my work-life balance, what would MY ideal situation look like? · What needs to change or adjust to allow myself to have a better experience? · How have I taken care of my mind, body, and soul? · Am I prioritizing my health alongside my career, family, and relationships? 10 Mar 2022 | Mini-sode: 3 Lessons I Learned from My 20s | 00:18:54
Today, we’re sharing a few lessons I’ve learned in my 20s. I recently celebrated my 30th birthday and I thought it would be fun to pass on a few lessons to anyone going through the roaring 20s. One of the biggest lessons in my 20s was realizing that I could own my financial narrative. After I graduated from college in 2014, I learned that I had a negative relationship with money. I spent most of my life living in financial scarcity, as my parents’ lived paycheck to paycheck and I struggled to figure out how to pay for college each year. Even though I interned full-time for two summers (I used my internship money to pay for housing), I felt shame having to pull out $30,000 in student loans to finance most of my education. For me, improving my financial literacy helped me improve my relationship with money. The more I understood money, the more I felt in control. Tune in for the next two lessons! 17 Mar 2022 | Mini-sode: 5 Things You Can Charge for in Brand Partnerships | 00:24:39
Today, we’re discussing 5 things you can charge for in brand partnerships. We want to remind everybody that your price is not determined solely by the number of followers or your engagement rate. There are a variety of things you can include in your price as a creator. You can charge for the number of deliverables The more posts, stories, reels, etc, the more you can charge. Some influencers will bundle a few Instagram stories with an in-feed post in one rate. Other creators price out per deliverable. If a brand asks you to refrain from working with a competitive brand or list of brands for a period of time, you can charge for it. 26 May 2022 | Mini-sode: 4 Ways to Improve Your Hashtag Strategy on Instagram | 00:10:59
Today, we’re sharing a few ways to update your hashtag strategy on Instagram. If you’re looking for ways to update or improve your hashtag strategy, this episode is for you. First way to improve your hashtag strategy on Instagram is to shift your mindset on how to use hashtags in 2022. What hashtags do: 1. Hashtags are fundamental way to label and categorize your content. By using relevant hashtags, you allow your posts to be showcased to relevant users on Instagram. Example: #coffeeshopvibes lets Instagram know that your post is related to a coffee shop. 2. Hashtags fuel the search results page on the Instagram explore page. When your selecting hashtags before you post, make sure that the hashtags are directly related to the content in your post. If your post is in Seattle, you can use #seattlewashington. But using #portlandoregon when your post is in Seattle is not a great way to use that hashtag. 09 Jun 2022 | Mini-sode: 4 Ways to Get More Views on TikTok | 00:13:12
Today, we’re sharing 4 ways to drive more videos on TikTok. If you’re new to TikTok and want to understand how to get more views on your page, this episode is for you. Before we dive into the ways to get more views on TikTok, we want so to share that “a view” is considered a view once your video has been played for one second. But watching your own video does not increase your views to your account. Tip 1: Use trending audio and effects We recommend taking a trending audio and effects, then making it relevant to your page and niche. Tip 2: Prioritize shorter videos Remember, TikTok is an entertaining platform which means you have seconds to capture your audience’s attention. We’d recommend being focused on creating shorter videos with the hook towards the beginning of your video. TikTok wants you to keep scrolling and consuming more videos. So creating shorter videos and increasing the volume of videos is a key strategy in getting more views on TikTok. 14 Jun 2022 | 3 Ways to Improve Your Content Plan & Strategy | 00:19:09
Today, we’re discussing ways to improve your content plan and strategy. No matter what platforms you create content for, it’s important to outline your content plan and strategy. What is a content plan? A content plan includes your topics – aligned with your niches and content pillars, your content types – photos, videos, audio, or copy, and your platforms – where your content will be published. Your content strategy guides the creation and deliverable of useful or usable content. For content creators and influencers, content strategy means creating content with your mission, audience, and business goals in mind. It means delivering content within context to your platforms. For example, if your main platform is Instagram, you’ll be creating photos, videos, and copy that are aligned with who you are, who your audience is, and your mission. This also means selecting the appropriate hashtags that are related to your brand, your audience, and your mission. As creators and influencers, we manage a lot of tasks. From posting on TikTok to writing captions for Instagram, there are lots of tasks to do on a daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis. It can be easy to feel overwhelmed by all the things you need to do. I’ve found that understanding how to prioritize your tasks is critical for your sanity and longevity as a creator.
Step 1: Write down all your tasks Personally, I start my week writing down all my personal and work tasks. I get them all down. I encourage you to also write down your tasks and then start to sort them by daily, weekly, and monthly tasks. If you haven’t seen tasks broken down before, here’s a quick guide to daily, weekly, and monthly tasks: Daily tasks: emails, meetings, posting on Instagram stories, tagging up with your virtual assistant, etc. Weekly tasks: project related tasks like submitting a concept to brand partner or attending a weekly meeting with your podcast editor or VA. Monthly tasks: tasks related to long term goals and projects – like writing out podcast outlines for the next month. Follow us on Instagram: @creativeeditionpodcast |
