08 Feb 2022How do you determine what to focus on as a creator or influencer?00:23:46

One of the hardest things about starting out as a creator, is to figure out what to put your attention on. There are so many things to learn as a new influencer or content creator. It can feel overwhelming to navigate the world of content creation. Today, we're breaking down how to figure out what you should focus on as a creator.

Tip 1: Figure out what Creator Life Stage You’re On

Not every influencer is on the same chapter or page of their journey. There are creators just getting started and there are influencers who are more mature in their journey. No matter that stage you’re at, understanding where you’re at as a creator can help you determine what to focus on in 2022.

Here are the 4 Creator Life Stages:

Seed: As a seed, you’re a new influencer. You just started your TikTok, YouTube or Instagram.

Questions you’re asking as a Seed:

·      Who am I as a brand?

·      How do I take photos or videos?

·      Do I like creating content?

Sprout: As a Sprout, you’re a new-ish influencer, but you’ve already started or established your social channel and platform like an Instagram, blog, or TikTok.

As a new-ish influencer, you understand the importance of hashtags and you’ve built up your audience. But you might be focused on learning the business side of the influencer industry.

Questions you might be asking as a Sprout:

·      What should be my content pillars or niches?

·      How do I build community and trust?

·      How do I work with brands?

Daisy: As a Daisy, you’re a mature influencer with one or more established social media channels and/or platforms.

As a mature content creator, you’ve established your brand and you’ve experienced making money off your side-hustle or full-time creative career. You know who you are as a brand. You know exactly who your audience is. You know the value you bring as a creator.

Here are questions you might be asking as a Daisy:

  • How do I grow and scale my brand and business?
  • How do I diversify my platforms and increase my reach?
  • How do I consistently make money as a creator?

Sunflower: As a Sunflower, you have established your brand across multiple platforms. You know who you are, who your audience is, the value you bring, and you’re consistently making money as a creator.

Questions you might be asking as a Sunflower:

·      What’s next for my career?

·      What products and services should I expand next?

·      What can I do next to expand my audience?

Tune in for the rest of the tips!

10 Feb 2022Mini-sode: Have you taken a mental inventory of your life and creative career?00:26:24

Today, we want to encourage you to take a mental inventory of where your life and creative career are at. It’s important to take a step back and reflect how you’re feeling about your life and creative passions. Understanding where you are helps you decide where you want to go and what goals you want to achieve.

Here are a few leading questions if you’re looking to evaluate your life and career:

·      What areas in my life am I looking for clarity?

·      What does growth mean to me?

·      Am I happy with my work-life balance? Why or why not?

·      If I’m not satisfied with my work-life balance, what would MY ideal situation look like?

·      What needs to change or adjust to allow myself to have a better experience?

·      How have I taken care of my mind, body, and soul?

·      Am I prioritizing my health alongside my career, family, and relationships?

Tune into the episode to hear us pick and answer one of these questions!

24 Feb 2022Mini-sode: Help! A Brand GHOSTED Me After I Shared My Rates00:14:00

Today, we’re talking about what you can do if a brand ghosts you after you share your rates. Every creator has been ghosted at some point. It’s a common experience many influencers have and we’re here to talk about why it’s not a bad thing to be ghosted.

Tip 1: If you’ve been ghosted by a brand, remember, the influencer industry isn’t a BILLION DOLLAR industry.

There are brands casting, hiring, and looking for influencers and creators they want to partner with every season! My biggest tip for creators struggling with “being ghosted” is to start shifting your mindset from LOSS to OPPORTUNITY.

15 Mar 20225 Important Things to Consider Before You Take Your Side-Hustle Full-Time00:33:34

Today, we’re discussing 5 very important things to consider before you take your side-hustle full-time. If it’s your goal to take your side-hustle full-time in 2022 or in the next 1-3-5 years, this podcast episode is for you.

We want to remind you that everyone’s journey to taking their side-hustle full-time is different. Everyone is balancing different priorities, juggling family and financial obligations, and more. There is not one right way to take your side-hustle full-time.

#1 Your risk tolerance

There are risks in every career. Moving from a stable corporate job with two paychecks a month and full health benefits to freelance requires some level of risk. When you move into freelance work (working for yourself), it’s up to you to make sure you bring a revenue and profit in to cover your lifestyle.

Everyone has a different risk tolerance. The idea that you might bring in a different revenue amount each month might really freak you out. But if you’re confident in your ability to make money as a content creator and you’re ready to take the next step, you might be ready to take on that risk.

03 Mar 2022Mini-sode: Don't let perfection paralyze your passions00:14:15

Today, we want to discuss how to not let perfection paralyze your passions. We’re here to encourage you to let go of “perfection” and to keep sharing your passions.

We  want to remind you that experience builds confidence.

And if you don’t allow yourself to step out of your comfort zone, to learn how to create because you’re focused on “perfection”, you don’t allow yourself to grow as a creator. You have to try new things to allow yourself to grow.

Let go on perfectionism in 2022. Allow yourself to learn. Post the photos. Post the videos.

10 Mar 2022Mini-sode: 3 Lessons I Learned from My 20s00:18:54

Today, we’re sharing a few lessons I’ve learned in my 20s. I recently celebrated my 30th birthday and I thought it would be fun to pass on a few lessons to anyone going through the roaring 20s.

Lesson 1: Own your financial narrative

One of the biggest lessons in my 20s was realizing that I could own my financial narrative. After I graduated from college in 2014, I learned that I had a negative relationship with money. I spent most of my life living in financial scarcity, as my parents’ lived paycheck to paycheck and I struggled to figure out how to pay for college each year.

Even though I interned full-time for two summers (I used my internship money to pay for housing), I felt shame having to pull out $30,000 in student loans to finance most of my education.

For me, improving my financial literacy helped me improve my relationship with money. The more I understood money, the more I felt in control.

Tune in for the next two lessons!

17 Mar 2022Mini-sode: 5 Things You Can Charge for in Brand Partnerships00:24:39

Today, we’re discussing 5 things you can charge for in brand partnerships. We want to remind everybody that your price is not determined solely by the number of followers or your engagement rate. There are a variety of things you can include in your price as a creator.

You can charge for the number of deliverables

The more posts, stories, reels, etc, the more you can charge. Some influencers will bundle a few Instagram stories with an in-feed post in one rate. Other creators price out per deliverable.

You can charge for exclusivity

If a brand asks you to refrain from working with a competitive brand or list of brands for a period of time, you can charge for it.

Tune in for the rest of the things you can charge for as a creator!

22 Mar 2022Where can you find ideas for your photoshoot?00:21:20

Today, we’re sharing with you where you can find inspiration for your next photoshoot! So, if you’re stuck in a content rut, or just looking for new places to find inspiration, this podcast episode is for you.

Idea 1: Shopping for Props & Wardrobe

Shopping is a great source of inspiration! You can try to go into every store with an open mind, and look at each item wondering how it could be used in a photoshoot.

Typically this means either an hour or so in the store, or hours browsing online, but we’ve found that trying this exercise has really helped us get our creative juices flowing.

Idea 2: Social Media
Social Media is an amazing resource for photoshoot inspiration! Some of my favorite content creators on apps like Instagram are constantly inspiring me to go out and take photos.

24 Mar 2022Mini-sode: How do I find my voice and stand out in social media?00:16:44

Today,we’re sharing a few tips on how to find your voice and stand out in social media. With millions (if not billions) of users across Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, blogging, YouTube, and more, it can feel intimidating to start a new platform. You might feel wary about finding your own voice and standing out the sea of other creators.

Tip 1: Reflect on how you want to present and share content online:

 ·      Are you a natural teacher? Does it make sense to embrace a more educational voice?

·      Are you funny? Do you like incorporating your humor into your content?

·      Are you an expert in your field? Do you like presenting information in a specific format?

Tip 2: Brainstorm a few words on how you want you/your brand to be perceived

What words come to mind when you think of your brand?

·      Relatable

·      Funny

·      Approachable

·      Smart

·      Edgy

·      Cool

21 Mar 2022Mini-sode: Preview of Teachable Talk: How to Market Your Course on Social Media00:13:39

Today, we’re sharing a preview of Emma’s talk: How to Market Your Course on Social Media.

Emma will be speaking at the Creator Experience: A Teachable Summit on March 23rd, 2022. So today, we wanted to share a preview of why I created this talk for Teachable and what’s coming in that 45 min presentation + Q&A.

In this talk, Emma discusses tips and tricks in:

·      Establishing Your Brand

·      Building Your Audience

·      Marketing Your Course

One of the sections Emma is most excited for is the last section: Market Your Course

She shares content plans and ideas for your:

·      Pre-Course Launch

·      Course Launch

·      Post Course Launch

What does it mean to market your course on social media?

Social media marketing is not sales. But social media marketing can help you drive sales by:

·      Sharing relevant content

·      Developing and deepening a relationship with your audience

·      Connecting with prospective clients

Posting once on Twitter or Instagram isn’t going to magically drive your next $1,000 in courses sold but being intentional, consistent, and strategic can help you sell your next course.

29 Mar 2022How You Can Use Trello for Your Content Strategy00:20:34

As content creators, we all have different ways of planning and preparing our content! Maddy personally have tried a few strategies, including feed planning apps and just winging it. But Maddy realized the more strategic she was with my content, the more her business grew! So when she decided to buckle down and figure out a solid content strategy, she realized using Trello was a great tool.

Trello is a completely free service that I got introduced to a little over a year ago. Maddy’s Instagram manager, Regan, recommended it to her! It’s a way to easily get yourself organized and even collaborate with teams. There is a paid version, but we personally get everything we need with the free version!

Maddy has used Trello for:
● Organizing household chores & upcoming events
● Planning my wedding
● Building out my content strategy
● Planning the Content Creatives Podcast

05 Apr 20225 Ways to Batch Content for Your Social Media Channels00:25:11

Today we’re going to be sharing tips on batching content for your blog, Instagram, and other social media channels. If you’re balancing content creation with a side hustle, school, or full-time job, and want to be able to share new content on a regular basis, this episode is for you.

What does it mean to batch content?

Batching is referred to as “completing a small set of tasks in a period of time”. In blogging, we batch content: which is photos, written content like captions, blog posts, and podcast outlines, to be more efficient with our time.

Tip 1: Spend one hour at the beginning of the week writing Instagram captions for that week.

Tip #2: Plan your feed out at the beginning of the week.

There are great tools out there like Planoly or Unum to help you plan your Instagram feed.

The benefits of planning your feed out ahead of time:

·      You aren’t scrambling that day to find a photo to post.

·      You know that the photo is going to look nice/cohesive with your feed before you post it.

·      You’ll be less stressed knowing what photos are coming up next to be published.

07 Apr 2022Mini-sode: How do I find brands to pitch as an influencer?00:13:57

Today,we’re sharing a few tips on how to find brands to pitch as an influencer. Whether you’re a nano-influencer (under 10,000 followers), a microinfluencer (between 10,000-100,000 followers), or a macro/mega influencer (100,000+ followers), it can be confusing how to figure out which brands you should pitch.

Tip 1: Look at your favorite brands that you use on an everyday basis

 ·      What household products do you use on a daily or weekly basis?

·      What skincare or beauty products are in your routine?

·      What clothing brands are you wearing?

·      What airlines are you flying?

We recommend thinking about your favorite brands because when it comes to pitching the brand, you already have a natural connection and story for the brand.

19 Apr 20223 Limiting Beliefs to Let Go as a Creator00:26:00

Today, we’re sharing 3 limiting beliefs to let go as creators and influencers. We want to identify, discuss, and let go of these limiting beliefs that might be holding you back in your creative career.

A limiting belief is a belief, repetitive thought, or state of mind about yourself that restricts you in some way. A limiting belief is a judgement about yourself – from you.

Why is it important to identify, discuss, and then reframe our mindsets?

Limiting beliefs can keep us from exploring new opportunities, growing in new ways, and keep us in a negative mindset. We want to encourage you to see if any of these limiting beliefs resonate with you at a conscious and unconscious level. Holding limiting beliefs can ultimately keep us from going after our dreams.

26 May 2022Mini-sode: 4 Ways to Improve Your Hashtag Strategy on Instagram00:10:59

Today, we’re sharing a few ways to update your hashtag strategy on Instagram. If you’re looking for ways to update or improve your hashtag strategy, this episode is for you.

First way to improve your hashtag strategy on Instagram is to shift your mindset on how to use hashtags in 2022.

 What hashtags do:

1.     Hashtags are fundamental way to label and categorize your content. By using relevant hashtags, you allow your posts to be showcased to relevant users on Instagram.

Example: #coffeeshopvibes lets Instagram know that your post is related to a coffee shop.

2.     Hashtags fuel the search results page on the Instagram explore page.

When your selecting hashtags before you post, make sure that the hashtags are directly related to the content in your post. If your post is in Seattle, you can use #seattlewashington. But using #portlandoregon when your post is in Seattle is not a great way to use that hashtag.

07 Jun 2022Know Your Worth and Understand the Value You Bring00:23:30

In today’s episode, we’re going to dive into knowing your worth as a content creator. It can be so easy to doubt ourselves as creators and we hope this episode will remind you of everything you bring to the table!

As cheesy as it sounds, one of the most important things to recognize when understanding your own value is your uniqueness and style. There is only one of you!

You may feel confused right now, uncertain of who you are and who your brand is. You may be growing and experimenting and trying to figure out your niche. But the bottom line is no matter where you are in your journey, you are on a journey. You have an awesome, unique, story to tell that nobody else can replicate, and brands want to share in being part of that story with you!

09 Jun 2022Mini-sode: 4 Ways to Get More Views on TikTok00:13:12

Today, we’re sharing 4 ways to drive more videos on TikTok. If you’re new to TikTok and want to understand how to get more views on your page, this episode is for you.

Before we dive into the ways to get more views on TikTok, we want so to share that “a view” is considered a view once your video has been played for one second. But watching your own video does not increase your views to your account.

Tip 1: Use trending audio and effects

We recommend taking a trending audio and effects, then making it relevant to your page and niche.

 Tip 2: Prioritize shorter videos

Remember, TikTok is an entertaining platform which means you have seconds to capture your audience’s attention. We’d recommend being focused on creating shorter videos with the hook towards the beginning of your video.

TikTok wants you to keep scrolling and consuming more videos. So creating shorter videos and increasing the volume of videos is a key strategy in getting more views on TikTok.

14 Jun 20223 Ways to Improve Your Content Plan & Strategy00:19:09

Today, we’re discussing ways to improve your content plan and strategy. No matter what platforms you create content for, it’s important to outline your content plan and strategy.

What is a content plan?

A content plan includes your topics – aligned with your niches and content pillars, your content types – photos, videos, audio, or copy, and your platforms – where your content will be published.

What is a content strategy?

Your content strategy guides the creation and deliverable of useful or usable content. For content creators and influencers, content strategy means creating content with your mission, audience, and business goals in mind.

It means delivering content within context to your platforms. For example, if your main platform is Instagram, you’ll be creating photos, videos, and copy that are aligned with who you are, who your audience is, and your mission. This also means selecting the appropriate hashtags that are related to your brand, your audience, and your mission.

21 Jun 2022How to do a Content Audit for Instagram00:17:36

Today, we’re sharing how to do an Instagram content audit. If you want to learn how to look at your Instagram analytics and determine what content is performing best, this podcast episode is for you.

What is a content audit?

A content audit is the process of collecting and analyzing your content across your platforms (blog, YouTube, podcast, etc.) and social media channels.

A content audit keeps track of all the content you've created on social media and your platforms. A content audit helps give you insights to improve content that is not resonating with your audience and shows you what your high performing content is.

Step 1: Outline your goals

Before you jump into analyzing which posts performed well and didn't perform well, think about what you want to accomplish.

  • Do you want to produce content that's in line with your brand and your content pillars?
  • Do you want to create brand clarity across all your posts? (example: if you're a fashion account, you can see fashion reflected in all your posts)
  • Do you want to learn what type of content your audience responds to?

Tune in for the rest of the steps!

28 Jun 2022What do I do when my Instagram engagement is down?00:22:46

Today, we’re discussing what to do if your engagement is down on Instagram. If you’re feeling down about your engagement, this podcast episode is for you.

Tip  1: Take a step back and deep breath.

There are a million reasons why engagement can be down. Maybe you’re in a busy season of life, maybe you’re in a transition, or maybe you haven’t changed your posting schedule at all, and engagement is just down.

Remember engagement isn’t going to be the same year over year or even month over month. There are ebbs and flows and you have to factor in life!

Tip 2: Accept that Instagram engagement is down for everyone.

As a friendly reminder, Instagram engagement is the number of interactions your content receives on social media. Interactions are:

·      Likes

·      Comments

·      Shares

·      Saves

·      Views

·      Link clicks

Instagram engagement has dropped in 2022 because Instagram is prioritizing Reels, including Suggested Content in the Main Home Feed, and Average Time Spent on Instagram has dropped to 30 minutes a day.

You can’t give 100% if you’re not at 100%!

12 Jul 20225 Reasons to Schedule Time Off Work and Social Media00:19:44

Whether you’re creating content as a side-hustle or as a full-time career, it’s important to take time off from work and social media. Today, we’re discussing 5 main reasons why scheduling time off is a great idea. If you’re listening to this and feeling burnt out, this podcast episode is for you.

Before we jump into today’s reasons on why should schedule time off work and social media, we want to share a few major signs you need a break:

·      If you’re having a hard time concentrating

·      If you’re getting sick more often or experiencing physical symptoms like headaches or stomachaches

·      If you’re feeling frustrated, a lack of energy, or lack motivation

·      If you’re feeling unfocused

These are all signs you might need a break.

Reason 1: You need a mental reset.

Whether it’s one weekend, one day, or one week off, we advocate scheduling time off ahead of time give yourself time to reset mentally. Don’t wait until your body breaks out in hives or your next anxiety attack to finally take time off.

You have to give your brain a break. Your brain needs time downtime. Our brains are like sponges and can only soak up so much information at one time.

Lesson 1: You aren’t going to LOSE the partnership if you ask for more.

26 Jul 2022Own Your Time Series: 6 Ways You Can Be More Intentional with Your Time00:21:03

Today, we’re sharing 6 ways you can be more intentional with your time. It’s important to be intentional with our time because at the end of the day, we want to feel good about our experiences and how we spend our time. When we’re intentional about our time, we’re aware of what we choose to focus on.

What does it mean to be intentional with our time?

 ·      This means we move through each segment of our days with purpose, a clear vision, and with alignment with our goals and values.

·      We actively participate in each choice.

·      We know or are on the path of figuring out what happiness, success, love, achievement, etc. looks like to us.

Tip : Learn to focus on one task at a time vs. multitasking

Focusing on one task at a time allows you to set one intention at a time and focus your energy strategical.

Multi-tasking is not a productive or intentional way to spend your time. It takes more energy to multi-task. It takes more energy to start answering emails, then try to write a blog post, then scroll on TikTok.

02 Aug 2022Own Your Time Series: How much time does it take you to do a brand partnership?00:26:04

Today, we’re discussing the 12 steps that goes into a brand partnership. We want to break down all these steps to help you figure out how much time you spend to produce a brand collaboration.

Each content creator will probably spend a different amount of time on brand partnerships depending on the amount of content their creating and the campaign timeline. Regardless, we hope breaking down the steps of a brand partnership can help you envision how much time it takes you to do a brand partnership.

What is a brand partnership?

A brand partnership or brand collaboration is when an influencer/creator and a brand decide to produce goods and services together. Typically, a brand will ask a creator to produce content (photos, videos, copy or written work) to share on the creator and/or the brand’s channels.

18 Aug 2022Mini-sode: How to Write a Strong Headline for Social Media00:14:38

Today, we’re sharing a few tips on how to write a strong headline for social media. Whether you’re writing a blog post or the first sentence of your tweet, writing a strong headline can help you capture your audience’s attention.

What is a headline? A headline is a heading at the top of a website, blog, newspaper, or magazine.

When do we create headlines in social media? As creators, we create headlines for our blogs, YouTube channels, Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, etc.

Tip 1: Name who you’re writing to

When you know your target audience is, you’ll write stronger headlines. Here are a few examples of potential target audiences for creators:

·      Real Estate: aspiring new homeowners

·      Beauty: established make up gurus

·      Fashion: bargain hunters, moms on a budget

23 Aug 202210 Best Photo Spots in Seattle to Check Out00:25:51

Today, we’re sharing 10 spots to take photos in Seattle. If you’re planning a vacation or content trip to Seattle, this podcast episode is for you.

One of the things we want to start doing on the Content Creatives Podcast is share locations to help you create content. We’re so excited to start our home city of Seattle. And in the future, we’ll share best photo spot episodes for San Francisco, Oahu, Austin, and more.

Location 1: Pike Place Market

Pike Place Market is practically synonymous with Seattle. It’s also one of the best photo spots in Seattle to check out.

There are over 500 small businesses in the 10-level market. I recommend taking your time through the levels and eating your way through the market. The iconic Gum Wall, the very first

Starbucks store, and the Fish Market are all within Pike Place.

Location 2: Space Needle

Built for the 1962 World’s Fair, the Space Needle is a defining landmark on the Seattle Skyline. It’s an iconic Seattle landmark with beautiful views of the city, Mount Rainier, and the Cascade Mountains.

If you’re heading to Seattle for the first time, I recommend adding the Space Needle to your list. The top of the Space Needle offers incredible views of the Puget Sound.

06 Sep 20228 Best Photo Spots in San Francisco to See in a Weekend00:21:14

Are you heading to San Francisco for a weekend? Here are 8 best photo spots in San Francisco to see in a 2 or 3 day trip!

One of our highlights last summer was our 3 day trip to San Francisco. We had so much fun exploring the city and taking photos. There is so much to see in San Francisco, but we wanted to highlight 8 spots that you could check out in San Francisco over a weekend.

One of our favorite spots was seeing the Golden Gate Bridge from Baker Beach

Address: Baker Beach, San Francisco CA

While there are many spots to see the Golden Gate Bridge around the city, one of my favorite spots to see the bridge was from Baker Beach. While there is a parking lot at this beach, it was quite full when we visited (we took a Lyft from our hotel).

08 Sep 2022Mini-sode: 3 Mistakes New Creators and Influencers Are Making00:12:15

Today we're chatting through new mistakes new creators and influencers are making. We share the mistakes we've made as a creator as well as three more to be aware of (and hopefully avoid).

One mistake new creators are making are: not creating a mission statement or stating their purpose.

If you’re interested in becoming a creator OR if you’ve started posting content online and you’re ready to start taking content creation more seriously, we recommend establishing your mission statement.

When you figure out your purpose, you’ll figure out your DIRECTION. So many creators create WITHOUT purpose, and this causes confusion for both YOU and your potential audience.

13 Sep 2022Outsourcing 101: What can you outsource as a creator?00:28:19

Today, we’re breaking down what it means to outsource a set of tasks or statement of work as a creator. If you’ve never heard of outsourcing before or are interested in starting to outsource tasks within your business, this episode is for you.

Definition of outsourcing: business practice of hiring an outside person or party to perform a service or create products that were formally done within your company.

What can you outsource as a creator or influencer?

Whether you’re a full-time creator or a part time influencer, you might consider outsourcing:

·      A manager or agency to manage brand collaborations. You can choose to pay your manager or agency 15-20% of all brand partnerships you bring in.

·      Pinterest manager: You can choose to bring a Pinterest manager on to automatically schedule your pins, create idea pins, and drive traffic to your blog or website.

·      Virtual assistant: You can choose to hire a VA to do email management, create graphics for social media, and engage on social media for you.

15 Sep 2022Minisode: How to Outsource Tasks as a Creator00:17:52

Today, we’re continuing the conversation about outsourcing as creators and influencers. We’ve shared an introduction to what outsourcing is and what you can outsource as a creator. So today we want to give you a step-by-step breakdown with how to outsource as a content creator.

If you’re trying to figure out how to outsource a set of tasks or statement of work for the first time, here are 5 steps you can take to outsource:

Step 1: Document your processes and factor in the time it takes to complete tasks

Write out everything you do to create, produce, and publish content from start to finish.

Here is an example of the processes we do on and for Instagram:

·      Batch shoot ~3 outfits each week + 1 on trend video a day (5 hours)

·      Film 3-5 videos each week for reels  + Edit 3-5 videos each week for reels (5 hours)

·      Write and Edit 5-7 captions each week for reels and in-feed posts (4 hours a week)

·      Publish 5-7 posts/reels each week on Instagram (2 hours)

·      Engage daily on Instagram (1-2 hours a day) or (5-8 hours a week)

29 Sep 2022Minisode: How did you authentically grow your community?00:12:27

Today, we’re answering a question submitted by @allie.grams through Instagram stories: “How did you authentically grow your community?” Everyone has had a different path in growing their audiences so today we’re going to share what’s worked for us.

#1 Consistency:

If you’ve been a part of my community on my social channels and blog for some time, you’ve seen us grow up through life stages. As we’ve graduated from master’s programs as we’ve gotten married, we’ve continued to create content as we’ve grown up.

We also want to remind you that consistency varies by each person. Sometimes consistency is posting twice a week and sometimes it’s posting 5x a week. It’s up to you to determine what a consistent schedule looks like.

27 Sep 20226 Things to Do BEFORE You Pitch a Brand00:21:25

Today, we’re chatting about 6 things to do before you pitch a brand. There is a lot of pre-work as a creator before you send that initial pitch email. If you’re starting to explore brand partnerships as a creator, this podcast episode is for you.

One thing to do before you pitch a brand is to: get on the brand’s radar.

Before you pitch a brand, we recommend engaging with the brand. Here are a few ways to engage the brand before you send that pitch email:

·      Follow and comment on their Instagram page or TikTok page

·      Create content that organically features the brand – make sure you tag them and use the required hashtags

·      Engage with the brand on Twitter – it’s a great place to start conversations and get on the social media team’s radar

It’s a bonus if you’re able to link to content you’ve already mentioned the brand in your pitch email.

Step 2: In your next introduction post/video, explain why you want to start shifting your niche as a content creator and incorporating other types of content on your Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube channel. You might also want to change your handle to reflect your niche change.

You might want to shift your niche because you’re:

·      Entering the next life stage

·      You’re moving

·      You’ve shifted jobs

·      You’ve found a new passion you’re excited about

For example, you can charge a rush fee

If a brand comes to you with a short campaign timeline, you can charge a rush fee as a creator. Brands and businesses understand paying rush fees for services and products.

You can especially charge rush fees during the holiday season. Brands have allocated budgets to spend for holiday campaigns and if you’re coming up on hard timelines, you can charge a rush fee.

02 Dec 2022REPLAY: 5 Ways to Batch Content for Your Social Media Channels00:25:11

Today we’re replaying episode 156 to reshare tips on batching content for your blog, Instagram, and other social media channels. I'm (Emma) is currently on vacation in Europe so I'm replaying some of my favorite episodes!

Today, we're replaying episode 146. Before we jump into today’s episode, we want to remind you that everyone’s journey to taking their side-hustle full-time is different. Everyone is balancing different priorities, juggling family and financial obligations, and more. There is not one right way to take your side-hustle full-time.

Whether it's your goal to take your side-hustle full-time at the end of this year, next year, or 5 years, here are a few important things to consider.

One thing to consider: Your Relationships

Aside reflecting on your finances, healthcare, and retirement, possibly one of the most important things to consider are your closest relationships.

·      Will leaving your corporate job affect your family?

·      Are you and your partner on the same page about your career goals?

·      Are your friends and family supportive of this career decision?

·      Do their opinions matter to you?

08 Dec 2022REPLAY: How do you determine what you should focus on as a creator (in 2023)?00:23:46

Are you planning your goals and priorities for 2023? We're replaying episode 137 to help you figure out what to put your attention on as you set your goals for next year.

13 Dec 2022REPLAY: What do I when my Instagram engagement is down?00:22:45

Today, we’re revisiting this previous episode about what to do if your engagement is down on Instagram. If you’re feeling down about your engagement, this podcast episode is for you.

Tip: Remember, you’re still growing in other ways!

Instagram engagement is the only thing to value you as a creator. You’re growing in more ways than just your engagement rate or follower count. Growth can also look like:

·      Mastering a new skill like video editing

·      Investing in yourself with a course or business coach

·      Learning who your audience is

·      Developing a new platform like a podcast or Pinterest

12 Jan 2023What do you do when you don't feel like creating content?00:12:52

As content creators and influencers, we’ve all felt the pressure to create new content all the time. We should be documenting, filming, snapping photos, and posting. But the truth is, we aren’t always in a creative mood. And this is probably a good thing. It’s 100% human to not feel 100% all the time.

Sometimes our creative juices are at 50%, sometimes our inspiration is at 95%. One of the best ways to prevent burnout is to listen to your body when you’re feeling like you need a break. It’s OKAY to not create content.

If you aren’t feeling inspired right now and you don’t feel like creating content, this podcast episode is for you. I’m sharing a few ways to refocus your energy and attention.

27 Dec 2022REPLAY: How to make rest a priority as a content creator (in 2023)00:18:06

With 2023 just around the corner, we want to remind you to continue to make rest a priority.  For those of you who are in this space, you probably recognize how taxing it can be. As creators we are expected to wear multiple hats in order to be successful in our roles, and we are expected to be “on” and online 24/7.

Why is rest important?

First and foremost, because you and your health should always be your #1 priority. No matter
what anyone else says, taking care of yourself is absolutely crucial to leading a happy and healthy life. But if you’re like me and need a little more encouragement to rest up, it’s also important to realize that you don’t produce your best work when you are exhausted. You can’t give 100% if you’re not at 100%!

29 Dec 2022REPLAY: 3 Ways to Improve Your Content Plan & Strategy (in 2023)00:19:09

Today, we’re revisiting ways to improve your content plan and strategy (in 2023).

03 Jan 2023REPLAY: How to Improve Your Copywriting Skills (in 2023)00:23:46

Today, we’re revisiting about a few ways on how to improve your copywriting skills as a creator (in 2023). As influencers and creators, we’re in the business of creating content. And a big part of creating content is using our writing skills.

What is copywriting?

·      Is the act of writing text for marketing and advertising.
·      Copy or written content is created and published to move customers and consumers through the sales funnel
·      Copy and copywriters can help brands and businesses increase awareness, drive intent, and purchase goods and services

Why is copywriting relevant to creators and influencers?

·      If you’re a creator with a blog, YouTube, Instagram, podcast, etc., copywriting is an important skill to have.

·      As creators, we’re constantly creating new content. We use content to build and engage with our communities. We use content to establish ourselves as authorities in our niches. And we use content to share our creativity.

05 Jan 2023REPLAY: How to Free Up Your Time as a Creator (in 2023)00:24:57

Tip: Ask yourself how you want to strategically spend your time

Once you have a picture of your strengths and weaknesses, where you’re currently spending your time, and your businesses processes laid out, you should take the time to reflect where you want to spend your time as a creator.

If there’s an area in your business that you really do not enjoy doing and you don’t want to learn that specific skill, consider outsourcing it in the future.

26 Jan 2023REPLAY: 3 Limiting Beliefs to Let Go as a Creator/Influencer (in 2023)00:26:00

Today, we’re re-sharing 3 limiting beliefs to let go as creators and influencers. this episode originally aired in April 2022.

A limiting belief is a belief, repetitive thought, or state of mind about yourself that restricts you in some way. A limiting belief is a judgement about yourself – from you. We want to identify, discuss, and let go of these limiting beliefs that might be holding you back in your creative career.

07 Feb 2023How to Prioritize Tasks as a Creator00:12:50

As creators and influencers, we manage a lot of tasks. From posting on TikTok to writing captions for Instagram, there are lots of tasks to do on a daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis. It can be easy to feel overwhelmed by all the things you need to do. I’ve found that understanding how to prioritize your tasks is critical for your sanity and longevity as a creator.

Step 1: Write down all your tasks

Personally, I start my week writing down all my personal and work tasks. I get them all down. I encourage you to also write down your tasks and then start to sort them by daily, weekly, and monthly tasks.

If you haven’t seen tasks broken down before, here’s a quick guide to daily, weekly, and monthly tasks:

Daily tasks: emails, meetings, posting on Instagram stories, tagging up with your virtual assistant, etc.

Weekly tasks: project related tasks like submitting a concept to brand partner or attending a weekly meeting with your podcast editor or VA.

Monthly tasks: tasks related to long term goals and projects – like writing out podcast outlines for the next month.

Tune into the rest of the tips for creatives, influencers, and content creators!
