This is not to fault doctors, I do feel doctors are good people who took an honorable oath to help people heal. Regardless of where this started, disease being for profit, there is a lot you can do to help yourself navigate the health care system and potentially explore alternative options.

If you are dealing with chronic pain, you are incredibly strong AF already.

In this episode, I don’t go deep into that part. Instead, I want to start to get you looking at other places where you can see your strength without the pain. It’s common for pain to become part of your identity when you have to deal with it day in, day out, without any relief. You can be proud of yourself for, however, you are handling it today. I know that without seeing it firsthand. The dangerous part of that is that you must have an idea of who you are without pain, or you won’t be able to let it go fully.

Life can be quite traumatic, and a lot of that will be unavoidable.

There were so many ways I could take this episode, but I wanted to keep it simple and just introduce the concept for now. In a later episode, we will take a closer look.

Thankfully, not every traumatic incident results in PTSD though and there are a lot of steps you can take if you have experienced trauma.

Dr. Morrell completed her undergraduate education at Wesleyan University, with a BA in Neuroscience & Behavior.  She received her degree in Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington.  She then completed a two-year residency in naturopathic primary care in Shelburne, Vermont after which she practiced naturopathic primary care in Burlington, Vermont. 

In her free time, Dr. Morrell can usually be found in the mountains or in the ocean with her husband.  She loves skiing, biking, and hiking.  She also enjoys creative time including yoga, painting, and making jewelry.  She is proficient in Spanish and has spent time abroad at clinics in Nicaragua and Guatemala.

Magic’s life changed when she faced multiple life-threatening conditions. She then decided to find the root cause of her health issues and that set her on a path of life-changing learning. Magic helps mainly women aged 45 to 65 who feel unheard or misled by mainstream medicine or anyone who wants to bring their health back to basics by treating root cause and the systems of the body. 

Not chasing symptoms, reconnecting to the environment, and overcoming their past trauma and that of previous generations through healing the PNEI which stands for psycho neuro endo immune pathways of the body. She is also a Master Practitioner in mold toxicity recovery. Personally, she is a mom of two amazing humans and two gorgeous furbabies, grower of organic food for her family, and a passionate native gardener.

  • While at the Dr’s Office, ask questions. Ask why you are having certain symptoms. 
  • If you are prescribed antibiotics, ask the following:
    • Why will I feel better?

    • What can I expect? I don't want to be chasing symptoms.
    • What happens if I don’t take this?
  • The medical field definitely serves a great purpose and is truly so helpful but may not always be your end all, be all solution to healing your pain.

In this week’s episode of The Pain Changer, I speak with Hugh Sadlier, a certified hypnotherapist. Hugh worked 22 years in counseling settings, the bulk of which was spent as a secondary guidance counselor and director.

He was also a recreation specialist for emotionally disturbed boys, an employment interviewer, and a vocational rehab counselor. Hugh was then certified in hypnosis in 1991 and became a board-certified hypnotherapist in 2008. As a practicing hypnotherapist in Maine since 1991, he has worked with over 4000 people on over 300 separate issues.

Hugh demonstrates a very deep understanding of the workings of the subconscious mind and is highly skilled in guiding his clients to find what is available to shift and change. I’ve personally done a session with him and I was very pleased with my results. Hugh is excellent at not only the hypnosis itself, but with integration of the messages and deeper understanding found within the hypnosis session itself.

Without integration…the experience will not be as powerful, so to me, being given the keys to integrate the messages in the days and weeks following our session was very helpful!

In this episode, you will learn: 

  • Hypnosis is being in a state of deep relaxation
  • You’re in control during hypnosis sessions, you can come out of the state whenever you want
  • During the hypnosis state/session, you will only do what you are open to and what is available to you in that moment, not anything that you are not open to doing
  • The 4 R’s of hypnosis:
    • Recognizing the roots
    • Releasing the impact
    • Replacing them by projecting ahead
    • Come up with an affirmation that Represents all of that

  • About 99% of the news we listen to or read we cannot control. So by listening to and/or reading the news, especially in massive quantities, it can bring us anxiety due to the negative nature of most of it and knowing the fact that we cannot control it.
  • You can already save yourself some time and get less sucked in by your phone by following these next couple tips:
    • Scheduled Summaries
    • Disable the Raise to wake for iOS, Always on Display for Android
    • Disable notifications for each app:  Go to settings and then notifications, go down the list of each app, and then decide if you want the notifications enabled or not.

One of the things that really stood out as I spoke with Dr Lenz, is how much he notices! He really picks up on a lot of body language cues that help him get a deeper understanding of what is going on with his patient.

  • Everything is connected. Symptoms you had as a baby and during your years growing up are correlated with Fibromyalgia or any autoimmune disease you may currently have.
  • The first symptom of chronic pain syndrome is Colic
  • 90% of babies who have Colic, one of the parents has restless leg syndrome or some kind of chronic pain issue such as IBS, constipation, etc.
  • Movement, eating to nourish, and doing things you love are what will help ease your pain but these things must be done in baby steps rather than going from 500 steps to 10,000 steps a day, etc

Are you someone who struggles with judgment? Either fearing judgment…or finding yourself judging others? You aren’t alone in that…society tends to lead you towards judging others. You can flip the script on judgment though.

Judgment is actually a mirror. If you are fearing judgment, there’s a reason. If you are judging someone else…there’s a reason. And that reason has nothing to do with the person you are judging…judgment is ALWAYS about us. Always.

In this episode of The Pain Changer™ podcast, EFT Practitioner Lauren Fonvielle came back to tell us more about EFT and how it can help you change your pain. Lauren is an Integrative Energy Practitioner, specializing in EFT/ Tapping for stress, anxiety, and trauma. She guides her clients on a journey of self-healing to break through obstacles - physical, mental, or emotional - that are keeping them stuck and holding them back in life or business.

She believes we all have the answers within,  and sometimes we just need a little help accessing them.

This episode was recorded after 3 of the 8 sessions I booked with Lauren for EFT. I highly recommend working with her. We started with adrenal fatigue and how I felt about it. Then as that cleared…I found all these other blocks with my business and my romantic partner…and Lauren helped me work through those and release them. She meets her clients with zero judgment and a compassionate smile…creating a very welcoming place to safely explore what’s inside.

In our last session which was focused on my left shoulder, which had been bothering me more and more…we found some fear of rejection. My shoulder noticeably leveled out during that session! With every session, I could feel a big difference in my body, and I have started to integrate more EFT into my Cognomovement sessions with clients.

In this episode, you will learn: 

  • We have many layers to our patterns and unhealthy habits. So even if we’ve worked on a pattern previously and thought we dealt with it, there is most likely more depth to these patterns/unhealthy habits that need to be released and let go of. EFT can help with this
  • For most of us, fear will take over/control what we do and prevent us from doing the things we want to do in life. EFT tapping can help us release this fear.
  • Give yourself a moment, even for just 5 minutes, to just pause, sit, be, do absolutely nothing. “The pause will pay off.”
  • Making note of where you are starting and measuring your progress is the key to “seeing” success. Whatever that looks like for you, lessened pain, fear, judgment, or a block or stuckness you’re going through for your business.

In this episode of The Pain Changer™ podcast, I’m diving into a fear of rejection that I found within a pesky shoulder issue that’s been nagging me for years. As I examined this fear within life…I couldn’t unsee all the places it was affecting me: in business. In relationships.

Fear of rejection was keeping me small, and scared. So I did a Cognomovement session after recording the first part of this episode…to compare how I felt before and after. I had NO idea whether I would be able to delete a layer in one session or not…but I was willing to try.

In this case…I took away a massive layer of fear of rejection, and immediately things shifted in my business and relationship, within minutes. It was amazing! I walked away really wondering whether rejection is even a real thing. Are we being rejected…or does rejection actually have nothing to do with us??

With his nutrition coaching certifications, he specializes in low-carbohydrate lifestyles, including ketogenic and carnivore diets. He has helped thousands of clients over fourteen years learn how to achieve their best lifestyle through movement, lifestyle management, and proper diet.

Together with Bethany, they created Boundless Body LLC during the 2020 pandemic. He is the host of two podcasts, Boundless Body Radio, and The How To Make a Podcast Podcast. He lives in South Jordan, Utah, with his wife Bethany, and their two dogs Rex and Tucker and their cat Lily. In his free time, he loves to cycle, play hockey, and paddleboard.

This diet was completely counterintuitive to me, and Casey clearly has the education to be able to teach you about this diet…so I had to know more! Casey makes it really easy to understand the science behind it, and he did a great job of answering the ethical questions that come up with a 100% animal based diet, as well as sharing experiences he’s seen with clients reporting fewer body aches on the carnivore diet. I’ve even started to follow this diet myself and I share my results on this show. The one result I totally forgot to share, because my focus was on health, not weight…was that I lost 5 pounds in 2 weeks!!!!!!

In this episode of The Pain Changer™ podcast, I speak with Dr Christopher Boyhan about chiropractic and a specific branch of chiropractic called chirodontics. This was a new term for me, and I am officially fascinated by what chirodontics can do to help you!

Dr. Boyhan was born and raised in Northern New Jersey where he was a competitive student-athlete in both football and wrestling. He went on to play football for the University of Massachusetts only to have inconsistent health derail his athletic career. But, he learned at a young age to not accept no as an answer, and it's this mindset that helped him learn to overcome the many obstacles life presented to him on his journey.

It is his mission in this life to help people learn how to solve their own problems by building a bridge from health care to personal development. He has narrowed the essential elements of health down to nerve flow, exercise, and water.  Simple and oh-so-important!

Boyhan earned his undergraduate degree in Sports Medicine from William Paterson University with honors and was awarded honors at Sherman College of Chiropractic where he earned his Doctorate degree.

Prior to becoming a chiropractor, he worked as an athletic trainer for ten years at the collegiate and high school level, and also worked as a medical devices sales representative for orthopaedic trauma and spinal surgery in the Northeast region of the U.S.

In his free time, Boyhan does his "neurology homework" and learns powerful new health and wellness additions to his practice like chirodontics, the best water systems, and more!

I really enjoyed this conversation with Chris! He is entertaining, insightful and very passionate about his work. You’ve heard me say it before and I will say it again: that passion is something to look for in a provider, as they will be giving you more of themselves with that drive to help you.

In this episode, Chris Chandler-Yates shared with me his personal experience as a police officer and how that rebuilt his life after a career of trauma. Being a former police officer has really influenced him a lot into doing what he does now. Chris joined the NZ Police in 2011 and after a seven-year career, he experienced severe burnout that caused him to leave the job he once loved.

After a journey of self-care, recovery, and personal development, he's now hyper passionate about helping officers take charge of their mental health and significantly reduce the chance of burnout. He lives to ensure others learn to see themselves so they don't go through the pain he once experienced.

Chris speaks very vulnerably and openly about the personal challenges he faced from burnout, such as almost breaking his marital vows, as well as some of the tough cases that led him there, and the impact they still have on him today, such as losing his sense of smell after one particular case. Chris is incredibly real, and I know he’s not the only officer who has struggled to this degree…but he is one of the few who are courageous enough to speak about it in a public forum.

In this week’s episode of The Pain Changer®, I chat with Michael Allard who for 30 years has been practicing Dzogchen Meditation on a daily basis on & off the cushion, as revealed to him by his Tibetan Buddhist Dzogchen Masters.

I met Michael during my latest Ayahuasca retreat, and immediately respected him. He chose to do a 3 day fast on top of the vow of silence during ceremony! In full disclosure, I wasn’t ready to fully let go of food as well as my words, and I admired him for doing so! 

Michael and I have a deep conversation in this episode about the power of meditation, what led him to meditate, as well as what Ayahuasca has given us both.

In this week’s episode of The Pain Changer®, I chat with Michael Sugrue. Michael began his law enforcement career in the United States Air Force as a Security Forces Officer in 1998. Michael served all over the United States, Europe, the Middle East and South America. He was also a Security Forces Phoenix Raven with the unique identifier of #1173. Michael honorably separated from the Air Force as a Captain in 2004.


Michael ultimately medically retired in 2018. He is now a Peer Volunteer at the West Coast Post Trauma Retreat (WCPR) and an Ambassador for Save A Warrior (SAW). Michael is a dedicated advocate for awareness, prevention, education, training on Post Traumatic Stress Injury (PTSI) and First Responder Suicide Prevention. 


Michael continues to speak at law enforcement agencies all over the United States. In his International #1 BEST-SELLING book, RELENTLESS COURAGE: Winning the Battle Against Frontline Trauma, along with Dr. Shauna Springer, PhD, they tackle the complexity of trauma within the law enforcement community, uncovering the unspoken barriers, and outline a path to healing. RELENTLESS COURAGE released in Spring 2022 and has been described by Lt. Col. David Grossman, best-selling author of On Killing and On Combat as “one of the most important books of our time” and “the natural successor to On Combat.” 


I met Michael at a Wellness Conference for First Responders and I was very moved by what he shared with us. I then purchased his audible, Relentless Courage, and I was riveted! The book gives such great detail into his own experience, as well as a professional perspective to help the reader understand what was happening beneath the surface.

In this week’s episode of The Pain Changer®,  I have a special guest join me: Mark DiBona. Mark is a Retired Police Sergeant who spent 33 years in the field of law enforcement.


Mark and I were connected on LinkedIn and after one zoom call with him, I knew I wanted him to share his story with you. He is dedicating his life as a former police officer to the mental health and wellness of first responders. He does this through public speaking events, as well as through a company he co-founded: Protecting the Guardian.


Mark’s story is gripping, I found myself having emotional responses to it as he shared his experience, including a failed suicide attempt. Andrew Levander, LMFT, M.A.C., is a California and Nevada Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who holds National certifications as: Master Addictions Counselor, Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor, Certified Bereavement Counselor, Certified Cognitive Behavioral therapist, Certified Internet Addiction and Web Psychology Specialist and is a Workplace Mediation Specialist. He has over twenty-four years of experience in adolescent, adult and family psychotherapy and fifteen years of national/international teaching in the field and study of addiction, social work, counseling, family systems and social service management. 

Andrew was the recipient of the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health Service Innovations Festival Award; “Enhancing Treatment Quality through Program Innovation”. He was featured on Oprah, The Dr. Phil Show, The John Walsh Talk Show, NBC News, CNN, and a special on E! Entertainment as well as featured in Time Magazine, The Boston Globe, The Los Angeles Times and many other national media outlets.  In 2002 and 2010, a documentary on Andrew’s unique treatment program aired on the Discovery Channel.  

Andrew’s twenty-five years of clinical experience, knowledge and dedication to those in need, the profession of Marriage and Family Therapy, substance use disorders and education have made him a skilled clinician, educator and leader in the field and study of mental health care and social service.
