18 Mar 2020How not to buy a sailboat! Episode 100:11:10

Sailing away from our corporate life was one of the best things we ever did. Brokers want to sell you a big boat. Don't listen to them! It's totally unnecessary and  we'll explain why.

Honestly getting sailing for free (or almost free) is easy and it will be far more enjoyable if you follow these few steps.

21 Mar 2020How To Provision For An Ocean Crossing (Or A Pandemic!) Episode 200:22:15

Provisioning in these times of panic is very similar to provisioning for crossing an ocean. In this episode we talk about the lessons we learned the hard way!

24 Mar 2020How to sail with your partner and not end up divorced! Episode 200:24:20

Moving from a life on land where you see your partner/ husband/wife for only a few hours a day to living on a boat 24/7 takes some adjustment. We have seen marriages in utter meltdown, tatters, & ruins from this level of proximity. We struggled in the beginning but learned to adapt.
Now our relationship is stronger than it has ever been, but how do you live with your partner on a boat and still get to enjoy your long term cruise?

26 Mar 2020"Watchkeeping is Easy" said No one ever! Episode 400:33:54

How do we keep watch on Ruby Rose? What has worked best for us over the last 7 years? In this episode we discuss this and other ways we keep our boat and crew sailing safely across the oceans.

07 Apr 2020Sailing Across Atlantic Ocean During Covid-19 Pandemic- Interview With A Cruiser. Episode 500:26:11

In this episode we interview Elena and Ryan from popular YouTube channel, Sailing Kittiwake and discuss how they got into sailing, why they decided to go from living on a catamaran to buying a monohull (when it's usually the other way around) and why they love the cruising lifestyle. Interestingly, they recently completed an Atlantic crossing on their 37 foot Tayana and while they were at sea the Covid-19 Pandemic broke out. They had no choice but to continue to sail on, not knowing where and when they'd be making landfall as countries around the world suddenly closed their borders.

07 Apr 2020Boat life during Coronavirus- It’s not easy! Episode 600:26:54

In this week's podcast we interview Yosh and Bonita from popular YouTube channel Sailing Nandji who are stuck on their boat in Malaysia. We also discuss their recent grounding upon a reef in Thailand and how they managed to save their boat and repair the damage. For a video of this interview, please click this link.

16 Apr 2020The Great Debate: Catamaran vs Monohull. Episode 700:27:56

For all 19 catamaran reviews on our YouTube channel click here.

For 3 years worth of monohull sailing videos on our beautiful 38 foot monohull click here.

Welcome to one of the most hotly debated topics in the sailing world: monohull or catamaran?
We're going to discuss four general categories during the podcast and compare monohulls and catamarans within each category: cost; safety; liveability; performance.
Hope you enjoy this one!
Cheers,
Nick & Terysa

18 Apr 2020What Are We Looking For In A Catamaran? Episode 800:47:46

While we have reviewed 19 catamarans over the past year, we have never specifically discussed the features that are most important to us in a catamaran- our 'wish list' if you will. While we've made reference to the features that we'd like to see in our new catamaran, this is the first time we've actually sat down and listed them with an in depth discussion.
We follow the same categories as our reviews: Safety, Build Quality, Liveability, Performance and Price.
We hope you enjoy this podcast!
Cheers,
Nick & Terysa

20 Apr 2020Family of 5 Living On A Boat For 10 Years! - Interview with Sailing Totem. Episode 900:47:18

Behan and Jamie Gifford have been living on their 47 foot sailing yacht for over a decade with their 3 children. Over those years they have become one of the best resources on the internet for cruising with children- indeed, Behan literally wrote the book on this very subject. Having completed their circumnavigation only a couple of years ago, they are now in Mexico planning a return to the South Pacific- until, that is, the Covid-19 pandemic caused them to change their plans.

Fitting out a boat, whether it is a catamaran or monohull, new or used involves a lot of decisions.
One set of decisions we all need to make relates to those items that cost a fair amount of money that we hope we never use.

In this episode we discuss those "hidden items", the thought processes behind them and what we eventually decided on to keep us as safe as possible, both at sea and while docked.
