BSOD: Team Machine is on the run, and we've split the party! This is a high stakes, high tension episode. Fusco may have crossed the threshold where knowing about the Machine might finally be safer. Remember PS3 supercomputers? A diversion into linguistics.

SNAFU: We get a Freaky Friday! Somehow it works! We continue to stan Amy Acker. We also get a long diversion into the complex dynamics of indoor shoe-wearing.

In which the Babpod Crew is joined by Adira Slattery, who can be found on twitter @AdiraSlattery. “Divided Loyalties” brings us lots of gay shit including discussions of queerbaiting and the narrative parallels between queerness and telepathy, Susan and Talia in wonderful matching silk nightwear, and Ana being wrong about Lord of the Rings.

In which the gang, loopy after too many recordings, breaks the format a bit, much to Justen's distress.

We have to discuss the big death in this episode, and whether we hate it or we just hate how the show makes us have to feel things in our cold hearts. The phrase "implanting apparatus" is uttered, to the dismay of Jude and Ana (and Zathras). A xenobiology moment too disturbing for JUDE is brought up. Spock is compared to a scruffed cat. Pike is Space Daddy, AGAIN. We want to thank all the fanzine writers and rabid Spock/Chapel shippers who worked for the past 55 years to make Chapel a principal character in this show.

The benefits and down-sides of a prequel that has some better characterization than the show that comes "next"...

23 Feb 2021S1E4 - Virtual Reality Mind Games00:50:34

In which we voice the praises of D.C. Fontana, a true sci-fi TV writing legend, and Jude and Ana definitely don’t plot Justen’s demise. “The War Prayer” begins the B5 tradition of awful exes, plus Vir is better over email and Delenn gives off strong distinguished queer vibes. “And The Sky Full of Stars” prompts Justen to ask if Sinclair is a Minbari plant, Ana to question why they’re using VR to go into someone’s mind when there’s perfectly good telepaths right there, and Jude to marvel at Doctor Franklin not being awful.

13 Dec 2022S2E28 - This episode is 80 smoots too long01:09:53

Show notes not written by a GPT3. For some reason the crew decides to discuss their future plans for thanksgiving during an episode scheduled to air THREE WEEKS LATER.

Lethe: John is off drinkin' and fightin' and not gettin' therapy in this episode, so Shaw handles the number. VIGILANCE is looking for something in the cancer patient's memory. Samaritan??!? Saul Rubinek carries this episode on his shoulders. Jude slanders the good name of Warehouse 13. Last time we saw Control she was played by a hand model. Fusco is the sterling example of how this project actually had positive outcomes. Law and Order has gone on WAY too long.

Alethia: Fusco might be the best character, or at least the most likeable. Fusco/Shaw unlikely animal pairings. We actually think John's grief arc is good, if not fully healthy at the beginning. The Control/root conflict is a clash of true believers, in a fascinating way. "Shaw is a hammer and John is a scalpel" is proof that Finch is romantically entangled with John.

25 Jan 2022S1E47 - God Sent Me00:45:52

CW for discussion of end-of-life issues and impact on caregivers. In which we distinguish between "saddest" and "most emotionally devastating" TV moments. "Between the Darkness and the Light" features Lennier showing his snarky side, comparisons of Londo to Uncle Iroh in terms of redemption arc quantity, and the cast wondering if saying "Bester" three times while facing a mirror fixes plot holes. More seriously, Garibaldi is incredibly lucky that he found Franklin; Ivanova, Number One, and Lyta are all stone-cold badasses; and we discuss the creative decision to have President Clark appear so rarely on camera.

12 Oct 2021S1E34 - TWO Lasers01:31:53

In which Garibaldi fights a Gorn. “Walkabout” introduces a new Vorlon who may just be Mr. Sinister, gives the disheartening information that the American medical system persists to 2260, posits that Swedish Meatballs are the carcinization of food, and prompts an in-depth discussion about Foundationalism’s relationship to the concept of “walkabout” and Australian aboriginal people. In “Grey 17 is Missing”, we are sorely disappointed that a great Marcus plot is paired with a godawful Garibaldi plot, that Robert Englund’s physical acting abilities are sorely underused here, and that Franklin is bad enough at computer security that he doesn’t even put his secret files in the “porn” folder.

13 Sep 2022S2E16 - Missing the trees for the forest00:39:21

Shadowbox:

  • Ah yes, John's one weakness--vets.
  • Don't give a dog a bath in a library.
  • Ah, satisfaction, what an unfamiliar feeling.
  • Poor Donnelly, making internally valid guesses but missing crucial variables--not particularly interesting, just tragic.

2piR:

  • Thanks to yet another Donnelly making the right guess but the wrong outcome, the Donnelly Train has left the rails and is now traveling sideways across the East River.
  • Harold's substitute teacher disguise is apparently tweed and watching Stand and Deliver once.
  • Pizza dialogue ensues thanks to pi.
  • Jude and Ana have OPINIONS about longhand code.

27 Dec 2022S2E30 - Dollar Tree Moriarty01:12:02

Jude is sleepy, Ana is a vindictive mathematical hitwoman, and Justen keeps an even keel.

Last Call: Expanding on the word "no". What this episode fails to do is what PoI normally does well--taking a trope and genre-shifting it. Someone knowing how electricity works should not be the highlight of an episode. There's so much they could have done with this episode but nothing works and everyone's characterization feels off.

RAM: Alpha version of John! Kara's back--in a flashback. As is John. And Decima. And Shaw... No Fusco though. In a choice between impromptu dental work and death, we choose death. Decima has ALLLLWAYS BEEN HERE *waggles fingers*. Rick is not quite horrible enough to be convincing.

Root Path: root's POV tells us it's a Very Special root Episode. Cyborg root! This episode is really the pivot point--we know we've said this before, but this one is it. Really. Also very good root/Shaw flirts. Shaw does a Die Hard.

26 Jan 2021S1E1 - Not Quite a Pilot00:51:14

In which we watch the first two episodes of B5 - but not the pilot. Don’t worry, we’ll explain. In “Midnight on the Firing Line”, we learn about Jude’s everlasting love and respect for G’Kar, Ivanova’s philosophy about chins in politics, and just what the heck “spoo” is. “Soul Hunters” brings us the first of many discussions about spirituality on B5, the introduction of running source of facepalms Doctor Franklin, and Ana’s excitement to see W. Morgan Sheppard as a creepy alien.

In memory of Mira Furlan

13 Jul 2021S1E23 - In the Arms of the Vorlon00:43:46

In the arms of the Vorlon

flying through B5

a Centauri tried to explode you

so you jumped to perhaps stay alive

Delenn told Kosh to save you

the crowd saw him take flight

Now you're in the arms of the vorlon

May you find some answers here

“The Fall of Night” brings us Ana screaming about gravity, Justen speculating about similarities between Vorlons and Asari, and also... *fire bad*. In the season wrapup, the cast discuss the high and low points of the season, and answer burning questions including “how would you prepare your spoo?” and “who on B5 would make the best blind date?” (it’s G’Kar).

25 Oct 2022S2E21 - Homoerotic Chess Metaphor00:37:06

Trojan Horse: Jude, for the third time, claims that these are the last episodes of POI v1. Shaw is a better operative than John. The abject failure of "look, the nerds are talking" technobabble. Bear/Shaw fun. Feel free to introduce a villain before you know what you want to do with them, if they can vamp like Greer.

In Extremis: A "ripped from the headlines" polonium poisoning plot. Fusco's past comes home to roost. A long diversion into snow and ambient temperature.

In which B5 throws a victory party, but no one is really having a great time, as we discuss "Epiphanies". Then Jude pitches a fit about having to watch another journalism episode in "The Illusion of Truth". Topics (relevant and otherwise) in this episode include: G'kar body cavities, Garibaldi's lack of fashion sense, Sailor Moon Villains, Franklin Sucks, Franklin Sucks Again, and the uncomfortable similarities between ISN and Fox News.

02 Aug 2022S2E11 - Backstories and stiletto heels00:48:43

In which Justen murders the rest of the crew with a joke, and a lot of dirty water was cut out for your convenience.

No Good Deed: Season one denouements, some tragic Finch backstory, and secrets are revealed. Jude has doubts about Nathan's regrets. Too many generic white guys figure out about the Machine for the gang to keep track.

Firewall: ROOT. The end of the Parent Trap plotline. Amy Acker is playing the role you think Amy Acker is there to play, but then the technotheist terrorist turn. Ana theorizes about uncomfortable women's shoes and their signaling value.

Stay tuned for Ana's bold predictions about future plot points!

21 Feb 2023S2E35 - Haberdashery and Firearms00:33:22

Justen hates auto-zoom.

Wingman: Which PoI writer has written the most Fusco F*cks episodes? John isn't allowed to do his favorite things (kneecapping) any more now that he's a cop. Bear is the best boy, yet again. Harold gets to buy an anti-tank weapon. Jude admits he's wrong. Fusco looks good in purple, but why can't they tailor his jacket right? The wingman guy isn't pickup artist 2.0, he's genuinely a nice guy? You forget that Harold isn't a helpless dweeb, but this season reminds you that he's an extremely talented field agent.

Brotherhood: ELIAS! Winston Duke in a guest role. You can gauge how murderous a woman in the PoI universe is by the height of her heels (Control being the exception that proves the rule). We don't enjoy the Brotherhood stuff, and it's also the least fun "kids in danger" episode so far. Poor Bear. There's some wrestling discussion that Zathras sort of started ignoring after a while, sorry.

13 Apr 2021S1E11 - B5 Gets a New Boss01:05:38

In which the phrase “real honest-to-god hot water shower” is first spoken. “Points of Departure” brings us a Minbari experiment with the latest in mall ninja fashion, Keffer challenging Fred Jones for the title of “sexy ascot man”, and our extreme enthusiasm about Sheridan’s dork dad energy. In “Revelations”, Sheridan’s sister is a huge buzzkill, Ana rants about the costumers’ choices for Delenn’s hair, and we are all deeply disappointed by Garibaldi’s survival.

30 May 2023S2E49 - I don't fuck with ET01:25:02

S5E10: The Day the World Went Away

S5E11: Synechtecy

YES WE ARE EXCITED ABOUT THE B5 NEWS.

The Day the World Went Away: Nobody really dies while the Machine is there? Minigun shenanigans. More needle drop appreciation. The ultimate mundanity of death. Fusco gets a yellow box. Dark Harold. Root and Shaw flirting during a gunfight is pretty much the peak of their relationship. Every teacher has had THAT student. "If we're just noise in the system, we might as well be a symphony.

Synecdoche: Rest in peace, cocoa puffs. Poor Shaw. The President--irrelevant? New Machine Team! Only fictional billionaires are good. It's nice to know that what you're doing matters. A side trip into hating ET for some reason. Far too long of a discussion about bombs in fridges.

29 Mar 2022S1E55 - The only email that should have been a meeting01:08:20

Genre-aware Centauri architects, a Doctor Who crossover?, G'Kar and Londo doing NOTHING to dissuade the shippers, Jude yells at John Sheridan for a while. The story challenges of making a surprise season 5 are discussed at length.

29 Nov 2022S2E26 - A Totally Legal Firing Squad00:41:01

David Zaslav is our eternal enemy, and piracy in the service of the preservation of media is an unequivocal good. Justen goes on a VERY long Gundam tangent.

The Perfect Mark: Jude and Justen disagree on whether the main plot is good or just chaotically enjoyable. A friendship is put to the test over Dune. The Inverse Ninja law is invoked. HR should have had a Yakkity Sax leitmotif in this episode.

Endgame: 38 NUMBERS?! Carter's fully absorbed John's tactics at this point, even getting John's music. Messing with food to express dominance. Carter and Finch have the same red-string board? Harold definitely has shopped for tweed vests for Bear.

16 Feb 2021S1E3 - All (Psi)Cops Are Bastards01:34:16

In which the cast delves into critique of both music and bulk goods food concessions. In “Parliament of Dreams” we admire G’Kar’s magical pipes and Michael O’Hare’s memorization skills, and deeply regret the lack of romantic chemistry between Sinclair and Sakai and its accompanying soft porn soundtrack. “Mind War” brings us WALTER KOENIG as our new favorite villain, a Zathras-abusing number of Stargate SG-1 references, and the unfortunate knowledge of just what it’s like when telepaths make love.

11 Jan 2022S1E45 - Enough is Enough, Dr. Kelso00:53:34

In which Jude refuses to admit that Season 4 Franklin is an OK character. "No Surrender, No Retreat" features some epic bedhead from Vir, G'Kar surfing Reddit while Londo attempts to admit that he's made some bad choices, and speculation on whether they had to use a maintbot with a tattoo gun to put the station logo on the White Stars. In "Exercise of Vital Powers", Garibaldi goes full QAnon and meets his creepy new boss, and goes above and beyond his brainwashing to be an awful human being, and we discuss the various merits of growing oranges on Mars vs. B5.

27 Sep 2022S2E18 - An Exhale00:41:57

One Percent: John gets abducted by not-Mark-Zuckerberg, somehow. We love Jimmy Simpson, frequent Nolan favorite actor. Jude is old. Justen sneaks in some excellent cross-promotion for Compleat Discography (check out our Going Postal episode on September 27). $10M is not petty cash, John. Ana posits a theory.

Booked Solid: Let's not think about the penthouse suite. There's a LOT going on. We speculate wildly about security clearance disqualifications. ACTION FUSCO. Finch is a master of second-screening.

15 Jun 2021S1E19 - A Station Full of Balls01:13:34

In which we coin the true name of the Shadows: the Z’Ha’Doomed. “In the Shadow of Z’Ha’Dum” features Garibaldi’s excessive use of velcro in his outfit, a top-10 GIF-able moment, and Justen explaining that the Coventry story is really just a myth. In “Knives” (out) Jude explains the mechanics of a swordfight while Ana explains the mechanics of baseball in an Allen cylinder, Franklin auditions for the role of “small town doctor on Supernatural just before the monster attacks”, and we contemplate precisely what “swords” were crossed in that Centauri duelling club.

06 Sep 2022S2E15 - Descent into Deviant Behavior00:43:26

'Till Death: Which is cheaper, a marriage counselor, two divorce attorneys, or two hitmen? Finch is meet-cute-batman? Mark Pellegrino radiates Florida Man energy. SO much coupling energy in this episode.

COD: Jude derails the summary with an impassioned defense of the 1995 classic Hackers. Finch is a baseball person but doesn't know there are two NY teams? Maybe he's such a Yankees fan that he doesn't acknowledge the existence of Mr. Met.

21 Sep 2021S1E33 - Podcast Without End01:42:27

In which the rate of Justen Headphones Moments is drastically reduced. This is it. The big one. This is PODCAST WITHOUT END. In the first half of War Without End, we discuss the principle of Occam’s Razor as applied to “time travel or deepfake”, question what Sinclair sees in Garibaldi, and threaten to call pest control for an infestation of Zathrii. In the back half, we give an important PSA about talking about time travel with your romantic partner(s), rename octopi as “Terran Octo-Dick Fish”, and realize that Marcus operates on D&D player logic and rolls 20s. More seriously, we discuss the role of this episode in the broader narrative arc of the show and as a send-off for both Sinclair and O’Hare, what makes a time travel episode work, and moments of transition vs moments of revelation.

08 Jun 2021S1E18 - Warcrimes and Filmcrimes01:03:30

In which we hold the first meeting of the General Hague Memorial Court. “There all the Honor Lies” features Sheridan and Lennier pretending to be in a Dirty Harry movie, Delenn perhaps being more aware of John’s personality than the writer, and our wondering whether humanity has evolved beyond Karens. In “And Now for a Word” the show tries to emulate Fox News but comes a lot closer to modern CNN, although with a reporter who gives off strong TERF vibes.

CW: Eye trauma

Honestly we probably should just cross-brand this with Athrabeth.

We talk a bit about the philosophy of RPGs and our personal histories. Jude claims Jenga mastery. We all have seven sets of math rocks, minimum. How do you pronounce "Geas"? tell us in the comments. Jude gives a portal fantasy declamation. We were all shitty teens once.

31 Aug 2021S1E30 - A Very Satisfying Thump01:46:33

In which the cast are joined by Josie for some extensive discussion of Centauri dicks. This episode is dedicated to the post office. “Sic Transit Vir” features Sheridan showing off his extremely dubious cooking skills, the introduction of new cuisine to the station staff breakfast table, and Londo facing off against his two worst enemies: customer service hell and an insect. In “A Late Delivery from Avalon” we learn that Narns get absolutely tanked on Yoohoo, Karen Garibaldi takes on the post office, Jude goes deeeeep on sword taxonomy and realizes that roman numerals are hard, and we realize that in the B5 universe the British are basically Klingons.

28 Sep 2021ISN Exclusive: Catherynne Valente talks Mass Effect01:30:33

In an ISN/IPM exclusive, friend of the show and multiple award-winning SFF author Cat Valente returns! In her previous appearance we briefly discussed how the video game epic Mass Effect liberally borrows from Babylon 5, and so when the Legendary Edition of Mass Effect dropped we knew we had to have her back to dive deeper into the canon that she has actually significantly contributed to.

We discuss Cat's books, our approach to the games, and why Garrus fits a friend-shaped hole in our lives. Oh, and also how Picard is literally just Mass Effect.

31 Jan 2023S2E32 - A Truly Evil UI00:48:22

You know software is evil if it doesn't have Dark mode.

Death Benefit: The Rules Committee does... something, we think? root asks Shaw out on a murder spree--sorry, date. John reverts to his CIA training. AI murder, the sexiest ethical dilemma. No, actually, it's not sexy, it's fascinating to watch Harold finally come to grips with what he's created. "I've sort of gotten used to saving people" is a banger of a line. We discover another cultural k/t boundary.

Beta: Harold's gone missing, Samaritan has evil UI, and the Machine Team is worried. New Jersey is where you go when you want to lay low? The first "cocoa puffs"! This is a VERY tense episode.

This episode nearly broke us. It's almost too much that we get an episode on par with Trials and Tribbilations, featuring a nonbinary pirate captain and the first trans director of a Trek.

Oh dear lord are we fighting about Muppet Treasure Island vs. Treasure Planet again... Jude gushes about Captain Blood and Errol Flynn. We put Captain Angel firmly in the tier of Lore, Khan, and Dukat in terms of best Trek villains. Jesse James Keitel deserves all your love and fan-art. 28 Feb 2023S2E36 - It's time we had a talk...00:40:49

Prophets: This episode hits different in 2023. John's sexytimes sad motif means a recurring character, and John is a terrible spy. Samaritan is taking active measures. AIs don't understand morals, in Finch's view. Root is great in this episode. Has John ever voted? No one mock Ana for her bravery in this episode.

Pretenders: John has a fanboy. Elias and Dominic meet. Good nerd-flirting. Surprisingly good vigilante, if unironically wearing a trilby.

12 Apr 2022S1E57 - Walter Koenig is Bae01:40:38

We're joined by David Gordon Buresh to talk about one of the standout episodes of Season 5, "The Corps is Mother, the Corps is Father"

After some reminiscing about growing up in similar frozen tv deserts...

Jude has a very short episode summary (LIAR), we learn what a PsyCorps internship looks like (spoiler: be warned), what a PsyCorps procedural would look like (yikes), and Bester is surprisingly not horrible. We give Walter Koenig a generous helping of our love for his consistently stellar portrayal of the best human antagonist of the entire show. Jude also claims to be an expert on bad wigs, briefly.

WHAT IS IN A PAK'MA'RA's HUMP? Wait, I'm sorry I asked.

David Gordon Buresh is a journalist, activist, author, and creative consultant with a lifelong love of gaming, science fiction, and storytelling. Located in New England, he has written and consulted for several games and journalism outlets. He is most famous for his Dave of the Five Rings blog on Cardboard Republic, a monthly blog coverring the popular card game and setting Legend of the Five Rings. Presently, he has taken a sabbatical from games journalism to further his education in political science, with a focus on indigenous rights. He can be found on Twitter at @SndWurks, and would like to remind you to support indigenous causes and to decolonize your media as the first step to decolonizing your mind. #LandBack #DefendICWA #TheFutureIsDecolonized

26 Apr 2022S1E59 - A good pair of snakeskin boots01:02:54

And All My Dreams Torn Asunder, in which we discover Justen's numeralogical quirks, Jude's distaste for loafers, and there are big questions about SheriDelenn as #relationshipgoals.

And then in Movements of Fire and Shadow: Wait, Lochley is still on this show? Don't go to Garibaldi for hotel recommendations because you're guaranteed to have some goons come over your balcony. Lyta has big Emma Frost energy, and we beg Sheridan and Delenn to not talk in public about their sex lives. Finally, Justen asserts that the entire Minbari species are never-nudes.

This episode is not sponsored by, but instead actively disavowed by Taco Bell.

In which OH MY GOD THAT’S JEFFREY COOMBS’ MUSIC! “Grail” features the introduction of Centauri Dickmonsters, and prompts us to speculate about both whether the Babylon Project is a massive money laundering scheme, and whether male pattern baldness makes Centauri more aerodynamic. In “Eyes”, Ben Zayn rivals only Bester in sheer punchability, Harriman Gray is the universe’s slimiest kicked puppy, and Lennier builds a sex symbol.

03 Aug 2021S1E26 - Brad Dourif Appreciation Hour01:12:11

CW for discussion of serial killers, capital punishment, graphic violence, body horror. In which we all cry over “Passing Through Gethsemane.” This episode brings us the return of the pixel art squid ship, discussion of the Telepath Haircut and its relationship to the Wolverine Haircut, plus Lennier, Delenn, and Brother Edward pulling an all-nighter. Most of the discussion is devoted to the heavier themes of the episode, though, including mind-wipes as a utilitarian death penalty; the relationships between memory, responsibility, morality, faith, and forgiveness; the framing of the episode as a tragedy rather than a thriller; and the cinematic effectiveness of showing the results of violence rather than the violence itself.

26 Oct 2021S1E36 - Might As Well Jump01:43:44

In which the question “how long can one of Jude’s summaries go?” is asked and answered as we discuss “Z’ha’dum”, featuring a lengthy debate about Sheridan’s love of warcrimes. We meet both his and his actor’s wife, and dive into the extremely shallow waters of the Shadows’ moral and political philosophy. Jude rants about the origin of telepaths, Justen expounds about 90s neoliberalism, and the gang talks about the toll that writing two seasons of TV in a row took on JMS.

04 Jan 2022S1E44 - To Sleep, Perchance to Yeet a Delenn01:09:04

This week, Delenn and John are dealing with their own respective brewing civil wars in their own special ways: self sacrifice and dubious hijinks! In "Rumors, Lies, and Bargains" we discover that John has lost ALL ability to function like a civilized adult without Delenn around, and turns into a chaos goblin to get the League to do what he wants. Meanwhile his better half travels to Minbar to sort out the war with the Warrior Caste, where (almost) everyone acts like a damn fool. In "Moments of Transition" she wraps up the war with a traditional Yeeting, while Bester shows up at the station to buy a corpse.

22 Mar 2022S1E54 - Zooty Zoot Zoot!01:37:27

CW GENOCIDE, and also a detailed discussion of a sex scene. Skip from 6:00 to 56:45 to skip Secrets of the Soul.

We're joined by Richard Kreutz-Landry @rkreutzlandry! Lightbulb tweetstorm here.

Descent into Midnight: @DIMrpg

Secrets of the Soul: In which we discuss tentacle-to-glowing-ball ratios, telepath power creep, nurses in adverse working conditions (pak'ma'ra and telekinetic), telepath ORGIES and the least sexy sexposition ever, and some very questionable infosec policies. And then Ana murders Jude. And then they talk about the sex scene some more. Zathras suffered.

A dramatic revelation about the director ensues.

Day of the Dead:

Written by Neil Gaiman?!? Jude agrees with Lochley, exactly once. G'Kar is rendered temporarily homeless by magical realism. For that matter, everyone gets visited by ghosts from their past. A crispy critter comes back to visit, making exactly zero people happy--Morden is upgraded from low-rent John Travolta to evil John Mulaney. Richard comes up with the dead-ex Ghostbusters corollary. Jude gets quite angry about the "humor". Much discussion of what could have been done with the Reebo and Zooty airtime instead. Jude politely requests "G'Kar/Picard on Risa" fics.

Zooty zoot zoot!

In which we all love wizard shit so much that it gets its own standalone episode. In the B plot, the Drazi have a very strange notion of natural selection, and all look stunning in purple. In the beef, nay, the turducken of the episode, technomages make LARPing cool, Michael Ansara sticks the landing with his charisma and acting chops, and the cast speculate on whether technomages are the carcinization of magic.

In which we learn that both Jude and Ana hate truffle oil (Zathras would like to note that truffle oil is GARBAGE). “Severed Dreams” features Karen Mollari being flagged for extra customs screening and wanting to talk to a manager, G’Kar carrying a Minbari like he carries the whole goddamned show, and our many feelings about Sheridan’s emotional range. In “Ceremonies of Light and Dark”, Marcus wonders if there’s a reason he’s still alive / when everyone who loves him has died, Garibaldi meets his ultimate nemesis New Jersey Clippy, Londo borrows a bottle of poison from a Vin Diesel movie, and we all love Delenn’s fantastic mom energy.

06 Dec 2022S2E27 - If you give a mouse a glock...01:03:53

MAJOR SPOILER WARNING FOR THIS EPISODE

The Crossing: We discuss the big casting change. It's not fridging but it smells freezer-burned. The utterly pointless kiss that turns this from drama into our trauma. Carter is the linchpin keeping PoI as a procedural.

The Devil's Share: Fusco is so good. The value of a well-executed trope (see also: rampage!!! and Hurt performed by Johnny Cash). Does survivor's guilt go away if everything was your fault? Shaw. Just Shaw. We love Shaw. And Root!Shaw. Elias is a messy, messy bitch.

20 Dec 2022S2E29 - Concerned Frequent Flyer00:50:49

In which Jude is tortured by the memory of Elmo.

4C: Holly, the flight attendant, carries this episode on her shoulders. The offer to bribe John in bitcoin is perfection. John can't ignore the fact that half of First Class is unconscious. The Machine knows that the ISA might be the cause of the Number, and thus cannot hand him over. Really, a flight attendant f*** buddy makes a lot of sense for John's complicated work schedule. John has operative macros.

Provenance: We have notes about overused tropes with Interpol agents. Jude confesses to enjoying The OC. We have a very long discussion of guest actor Gene Farber. Justen has a selfie with the other guest actor, Christopher Neal Jackson. The peak homoerotic trope of tying another man's bow tie. Actually, Jude tells us a lot of things that embarrass him.

15 Mar 2022S1E53 - No Sugar Tonight01:26:19

In which Jude has strong opinions about seated meditation, the implications of stuffing 5 years of plot into 4 years and ending up with less-than-enlightened centrism and n*zis, vigilante justice by way of diplomatic immunity, real-live free-range criminals as training dummies, and the problems implicit in hiring your ex to captain the space station you currently use as your seat of power for an interstellar alliance. Bester returns to his favorite corpsicle mall for fresh telepaths, Garibaldi exudes more sleaze-oil than the annual production of OPEC, and we ask an important question: does JMS actually want us to like Lochley?

Also, so much coffee talk.

In which Justen valiantly attempts to get through summarizing the end of the Shadow War in "Into The Fire" with a minimum of interruptions from Jude about Sheridan's love of war crimes, theories about Morden's origins, and how John and Delenn christen the White Stars. We also complain about depictions of telepathy and compliment B5's prop department.

cw: monster fucking

Loooong deviation on the White Rat series. A big ol' dotted line between the horrors of war and Warhammer 40k. The inverse-Spider-man power question of "with great power comes great moral hazard." Charlotte Bronte??? Are all wizards nasty?

Yeah, ok, this is just an Athrabeth episode. Jude talks at length about subcreation and how well DIE reflects this.

Fictional gangs, questionable dining habits, and badly sold plots! John's first yellow box notation from the Machine, a ton of guest stars, and a brief diversion into suspension of disbelief about gunshot wounds. We're so glad the judge wasn't ****ing the nanny.

Our first outing with Zoe Morgan is productive, and Harold gets vicious with his money. Jude narrates his BSOD upon realizing a Zoe-April connection. We get sidelined by arguing about Treasure Planet vs. Muppet Treasure Island--leave your favorite in the comments.

S5E12 .EXE

S5E13 Return Zero

A discussion of the principles of rewatches.

.EXE: It's A Wonderful Life time. Tesla dunking. Greer tries to convince Finch YET AGAIN that Samaritan is the right choice. Jude hates the locked room scene. Ana scores a prediction win.

Return Zero: What a series finale, especially considering their season order cut. Reese's long-standing deal (GNU Jarold). Shaw gets to be everything Team Machine wants her to be--but is still Shaw. Fusco knows how good he has become. It takes a cruise missile to take out John.

17 Aug 2021S1E28 - Arts and Crafts is my Love Language00:56:37

In which Justen nearly ruins our hatred of Franklin. “Messages from Earth” is the start of this season’s quadriptych (yes, we had to look that up), and is definitely not a Star Trek: Voyager plotline. In the episode, Marcus proves that he is as adept with a glue stick as he is with a fighting stick, we learn that Minbari do not sleep as we humans do, and we all wonder what happens when you put a chicken into an O’Neill cylinder. In “Point of No Return”, NightWatch gets its comeuppance in a plot that revolves around Zack’s stupidity, Majel Barrett delights Ana with more Centauri prophecy shit, and Ta’Lon reminds us that while all Bajas Blast, not all blasts are Baja.

30 Aug 2022S2E14 - The Bracebridge Dinner00:47:57

The High Road: FAKE MARRIED! It's time for some hot suburban action with John and Zoe. The number this week is Roy from The Office, which might be a fact some of you are interested in. Thank you, Paige Turco, for carrying all the sexual tension on your own shoulders. Has John never gotten a parking ticket in New York? Justen blows Jude's mind with a #Dunefact and then the gang narrowly averts getting into John Deere Discourse.

Critical: LEON IS BACK YAY! How much of this hitman story is reworked in a later character? Unsure. There's a lot of related tv talk in this episode, so buckle up. Jude thinks meat is a mistake.

03 May 2022S1E60 - Drakh Tiddy00:59:46

In which we spend way too long avoiding the episodes in question.

In The Fall of Centauri Prime, we discuss the poorly animated hentai dick monster and how it should have been a muppet, the number of repeat actors typecast for prosthetic tolerance and believable assholery, and we mourn the end of Londo's redemption arc and the damp thud of Lennier's arc.

In The Wheel of Fire, we get one of the last Jude summaries of the series, Zathras keeps a running count of the torched "intervention" banners, we get One More X-Men Reference, the phrase "space Argentina" is uttered, and we fantasize a little too long about what Lyta and G'Kar get up to.

28 Mar 2023S2E40 - Monsters love small towns01:00:40

The gang reconvenes after an extended recording hiatus (it shows...), discusses the weather, and then...

MIA: This is a d&d plotline. Just a reminder--torture does not work. Ana goes on a rant about New York. The Californians counter with a nuanced discussion of west coast cartography. Tweet the show with your opinions about geography, please, Zathras begs you. The slimmed-down team feels like season 1 again a bit. We like Dani and wonder if she was possibly a Shaw replacement. Some weird cyberpunk experiments that don't go anywhere. the Reese/root team-up is fascinatingly deadly.

Guilty: Evil 5G that gives you headaches? Fusco, zero to hero. Too much info, Jude. Also, Zoe! It may not be a metaplot episode but it's still fun. If Zoe says "hey, wanna bang", why would you ever say no.

This episode is so unhinged.

18 Oct 2022S2E20 - John can't say MJ00:49:13

CW: extended discussion of COVID, flying anxiety, Jude making fun of film students,

Proteus: Sneaky Agatha Christie reference tells you the whole plot in plain sight. It's a little surprising that this is the first serial killer number? John is the squarest square.

All In: LEON'S BACK! Nigerian Prince Scam? A hilariously complex money laundering scheme. The dessert of magic. Copaganda, or lack thereof. Justen hates Baccarat.

27 Jul 2021S1E25 - Fascism Isn't Sexy01:13:46

CW: discussion of substance addiction

In which we establish the official show motto. “A Day in the Strife” features a very well-done addiction plotline tacked onto a character who is awful for other reasons, a menacing alien pinecone that threatens to blow up the station if the B5 staff flunks the SAT, Sheridan’s new Narn boyfriend, and the introduction of the Minbari Sacred Dremel and Ritual Belt Sander. In “Voices of Authority,” G’Kar gives Garibaldi homework (but doesn’t threaten him with death by pine cone), the First Ones get a CGI upgrade an exciting new Bionicle look, and Justen, as Professor of Himbology, rules that Zach Allen is not a himbo but Musante still shouldn’t be mean to him. Pour one out for another maintbot.

19 Jul 2022S2E9 - John does not party00:33:35

Identity Crisis: Jude starts out the show with an EXTREMELY detailed revenge fantasy, and then expresses a complete lack of interest in Identity Crisis aside from some fun bits and one crystal clear moment of characterization for Finch and Reese. Oh, and Finch apparently invented social media. Don't talk to cops without a lawyer present.

Flesh and Blood: Buckle up, Elias is making his move. It's hard to hate Enrico Colantoni, even as Elias is _clearly_ a bad guy. Justen has notes on the particular weapon that Reese gives Carter. Does Finch technobabble John just to save time?

09 Mar 2021S1E6 - Londo Makes a New Friend00:50:56

In which we reach the eponymous episode for the first season. “Signs and Portents” features the fabled Centauri bedazzled MacGuffin, Delenn moonlighting as Sting (sword, not musician), and our first sighting of, in Justen’s immortal words, “That John Travolta-Looking Motherfucker”. “TKO” has truly the highest highs and lowest lows of the season, but reassures us all that Zima’s popularity persists to the 23rd century.

31 May 2022S2E2 - Boring White Dude Doing Something for a Girl00:46:31

Mission Creep: In which we get the most concise Jude summary yet, Justen categorizes a wad of S1 numbers under this episode's label, and the Elias arc kicks off. John gets some rare characterization--a soft spot for vets--while Fusco starts to think about John's safety.

After some discussion of Harrison Ford shipping...

Cura te Ipsum: Lots of sound design talk, a villain with the worst affluenza ever seen on tv, we realize we haven't talked about Bluejacking yet, and there's some B5 contamination in the feed.

08 Mar 2022S1E52 - B5: Down Below Decks!00:57:21

What do Hamlet, Animal Crackers, The West Wing, and the best Star Trek series (don't @ justen) have in common? This week's BabPod episode!

In "The Paragon of Animals" we have principles, war crimes, telepaths, and Garibaldi owning up to his disreputability, while in "A View from the Gallery" Jude dunks on SOMEONE for not knowing how to pronounce Ares, Justen has some x-wing/starfury thirst, and Ana defends Claudia Christian's Honor.

21 Mar 2023S2E39 - Schrodinger's Rocket Launcher01:03:25

Yet again, Star Trek talk. And then we get a 10 minute tour of Justen's bedroom furniture. IKEA, sponsor us--this podcast resembles one of Jude's bookcases, for sure.

If/Then/Else: It's Remedial Chaos Theory! The show played with the format of broadcast tv to emotionally whiplash you, and it doesn't come across as well on streaming, but that doesn't make this any less of an amazing episode... Shaw's exit(?) was because of real-life things, not conflicts, and was a character choice. Only Fusco seems to be mispredicted by the Machine. Even the Machine knows root is the Queen.

Ctrl+Alt+Del: The difference between the Machine and Samaritan is further explored, including bottom-up and top-down methodologies. Fusco is a hockey man, and is ride or die for Team Machine. We love to hate Control. Bio-informatics defined. Schrodinger's Rocket Launcher.

14 Dec 2021S1E42 - Model of a Modern Minbar Warcriminal01:13:26

This week, Jude doesn't want to ask how Justen is doing, we debate whether a propensity to fuck aliens is a feature of human souls, and if alien fucking is the path to ascension.

And also show tunes.

In "Atonement", Delenn contends with Minbari traditionalism and wraps up a number of Minbari plot lines, and we get the start of a storyline that's going to turn Justen into a goblin in "Racing Mars" where Marcus and Franklin head to Mars under the cover of being a married couple.

23 Mar 2021S1E8 - The Planet... It’s Alive...01:01:43

In which Justen sings the Hokey Pokey and we are all reminded that Ivanova is God. “Legacies” features Delenn being surprisingly bad at corpse heist planning, MedLab peons drawing straws for Pak’Ma’Ra stomach-pumping duty, and Jude contemplating throwing cold spaghetti at Neroon. In “Voice in the Wilderness,” Londo pilots a shuttle like a small child playing Mario Kart, the introduction of Draal cosmically balances out Neroon, and Jude’s consolation prize for no G’Kar content is a discussion of Tolkein.

18 Jan 2022S1E46 - 500 Gigs of Centauri Porn, or the Passion of the Sheridan00:56:33

Content Warnings: Intersections is focused around a detailed torture sequence, and includes discussion of such.

In which we find out the Judas price of our hosts. In "The Face of the Enemy," Garibaldi sells out Sheridan, we FINALLY get the payoff of Garibaldi being an asshole, and Jude and Justen lose it over JMS writing an X-Men plot. Then, in Intersections in Real Time, we get Wayne Alexander (again!), an episode with just one set, and we have to unfortunately compare this to a Star Trek episode.

08 Nov 2022S2E23 - Ariana Grande was right00:53:06

Liberty: GUI changes. The gang takes down numbers like it's their job. Carter's got Elias stashed in her basement. The Machine is acting beyond just dumping numbers now. We get the start of the best odd-couple pairing for the rest of the series. Falafel stands replacing inconspicuous park benches for secret meetups. 3.5 star secret.

Nothing to Hide: Aaron Burr? Revolutionary War imagery? A new secondary plotline that has Anonymous vibes, neat. A worse number than the bad hitman. The Palo Alto PD has a very narrow range, apparently. Ana makes another prediction. Justen yells about elevators.

21 Jun 2022S2E5 - A Xerox Alto00:42:25

Warning: 5 minutes of pet talk.

In Get Carter, Jude gets weirdly defensive about his philosophy training, we discuss relevant numbers and machine learning, and John goes full Batman. Mutant? Vengeance demon? Something like that. Fusco is actually a good cop, but also a terrible liar.

In Number Crunch, we see that Jude has learned how to write a CONCISE GODDAMN SUMMARY, Ana discusses the relative merits of an IDE that doesn't auto-scroll, Finch is Sophie, and John can't act his way out of a paper bag. Does every New Yorker just know instinctively how to launder money?

Uh, thanks for the infohazard warning Justen. Also, there's a headphones moment around 13:00 to 14:20 that, if you're watching through for the first time, you might want to skip if you are a die hard spoiler avoider.

Season 2 starts out with a bang. We are deeply confused by the fact that there are A and B plots, but since this is where Leon first shows up, we are willing to let the intellectual challenge to us stand. Oh yeah, and BEST BOY BEAR.

Leon is ranked up there with Zoe, but for VERY different reasons.

19 Apr 2022S1E58 - Double-Spoo Quarter Pounder with Flarn01:00:28

Meditations on the Abyss, in which Jude barely contains his snark over the Lennier plotline, we discuss the logistics of 23rd century fast food localization, we realize that Vir started with regicide and worked his way down to vandalism, and intercultural cuckolding is argued about at length. So many meme references.

Darkness Ascending, where we quarantine the Garibaldi plot, there's a disagreement over exactly what happens behind the curtains in G'Kar's residence, Justen drops an exceedingly spicy take and Jude immediately one-ups them, we dunk on Jude for no longer hating Franklin, and then we realize that G'Kar is the first person on the show to treat Lyta like a person. Horniest b5 episode?

14 Jun 2022S2E4 - A Bag of Juice00:54:55

Witness: metaplot 2! Justen's bad NY accents, John's questionable phone choices, and Charlie--I mean, Elias--teasing the third-act reveal in the middle of the episode. Elias is the Bester of Person of Interest.

Foe: A long discussion of cold war surveillance state methods, Justen goes feral over gun porn, Jude goes even more feral over questionable gun choices, and John/Harold slice-of-life fan fiction is liberally sprinkled across everything.

18 May 2021S1E15 - The Babylon Project Fails01:12:30

In which we learn how many Minbari it takes to screw in a lightbulb. “Race through Dark Places” introduces a spicy new look for Delenn, Bester’s spam filter, and our confusion about what precisely the value of a credit is in this universe. In “Coming of Shadows” we discuss design considerations for ships that are black on slightly darker black, a cameo from Aragorn son of Arathorn (wait, wrong podcast, Jeffrey Sinclair), and the fact that EarthGov… Dome… Force… Alliance… really needs a style guide.

10 May 2022S1E61 - The Sexiest Ethical Dilemma01:00:01

In which we discuss the best song to block a telepath with, and then dive into the stories at hand.

Objects in Motion: Qualitatively the horniest episode of the show? Jude puts out a call for G'kar/Lyta fics, we could have had so much more Number One, and we talk about the relative merits of pure technobabble vs. trying to explain things.

Objects at Rest: In which DragonCobolt is one of the unlucky 10,000 in learning about the full context of the Lennier Plot, we do more dreaming about what might have been with a next iteration of the cast (a new generation, if you will), and we have some pre-final thoughts about everything.

25 May 2021S1E16 - Hereditary Jackassery01:08:35

In which both Ivanova and Sheridan should be more genre-conscious when speaking in C&C. “GROPOS” teaches us what a swagger stick is, prompts resentment from Jude that Franklin gets decent content, and introduces “Alfredo Garibaldi”, the new Olive Garden pasta special. In “All Alone in the Night,” Delenn tells some halloween store Roswell Greys to get back to their mom’s basement, the man in-between is looking for Sheridan (although maybe not because of his official EarthForce resume), and the cast are very excited to see an analogue of nose art on the starfuries.

11 Apr 2023S2E42 - A certain amount of root00:40:11

This is not a star trek podcast. Justen forgets our favorite Telepath. A coughing break was edited out for your convenience.

Karma: 2010 Retro Finch, Digital Vigilante--the Harold version of a rampage. Therapist Listening Posture. We continue to hate the John-therapist plotline and spend a long time decomposing it. This episode does Fusco dirty.

Skip: A really intense Harold/root episode. Discount Natalie Dormer? We wish it had been Shaw instead of Reese. We fantasize about episodes we don't get.

Hello, and welcome to the Babylon Podject. We are not talking about any episodes today, because earlier this week SAG-AFTRA released new guides to podcasters with relation to their strike. The guidelines for this rule defines rewatch podcasts as struck work. This is confusing because as both fanwork and critical content, we would not think this applies to us, but the wording of the statement does not include any exceptions. Another podcast shared communication with us from a SAG representative that states that the discussion of struck productions (including older shows like we cover here) is considered promotional and thus while we are not SAG-AFTRA members, promotional material would be considered scab work.

As we wish to show solidarity with both striking guilds, we encourage you to still enjoy watching and reading what you like, but any release of new episodes will have to avoid struck work until an equitable agreement is reached.

Where that leaves us is in a pickle. There's a number of things that we are excited about, and we have almost a dozen episodes in the can right now for our next series, but those will have to wait until we feel that releasing those episodes would not be a striking activity. Until then, we are going to get ~experimental~ and try covering some non-television and movie properties. We'll see how that goes, and hopefully we'll be back to doing our normal thing before I'm hate-reading bad Avengers comics.

So, until next time...we stand with SAG-AFTRA and the Writer's Guild...be seeing you. And if you want a taste of what we’re doing next, here’s the music for our next series…whenever that happens.

In which Justen blows Ana’s and Jude’s minds. “The Long Twilight Struggle” features both quantum states of Londo’s morality, prompts a discussion of Bruce Boxleitner’s attractiveness in 1995, and provides us with a show moral: don’t play D&D with a Vorlon. In “Comes the Inquisitor,” Jack the Ripper fails upward to Vorlon middle management, G’Kar takes his Cassandra act to the streets (err, halls?) of the station, and we learn that while Justen is a murder fan this does not extend to serial killers.

In yet more evidence that the Strange New Worlds writers LOVE Star Trek, bringing the author Benjamin Russell (played by Benjamin Sisko in Deep Space 9 season 6, episode 13, Far Beyond the Stars) warms our cold, vacuum-dried hearts.

There are so many character moments in this episode where this cast has an absolute field day, in and out of Ren Faire garb. That ending, though. Platonic ideal of bittersweet.

07 Mar 2023S2E37 - Fine, we'll commit your felony00:43:24

Jude goes a long way to make a gif. The fundamental warcrimes component of Battletech.

Honor Among Thieves: We hit the warcrimes airhorn a lot. Some of the logistics seem unrealistic here, in a show about godlike AIs. The threat of a pandemic was much more fun when it wasn't a thing we'd actually experienced. Shaw is a bisexual icon. The fundamental differences between The Machine and Samaritan, and the consequences of those differences. Captain Boomerang?! The most eurotrash thief team.

Point of Origin: Bear is SCUBA-certified. The questionable physics of hollywood. The Brotherhood is a kind of an up-and-down antagonist.

12 Jul 2022S2E8 - Jarold. Jarold? Jarold!00:51:18

Blue Code: Are you paid up with HR? Or are you running drugs for the CIA? Why aren't there shirtless police officer calendars, anyway?

Risk: Avoiding talking about the episode by discussing how to name ships is not how you win Zathras over. Canonizing the Jarold ship name... is mildly better. Jarold is Garak/Bashir with the moralities inverted?

Baby Blue: breaking with our categorization schema last episode, this number is a 6 month old baby... uh oh. Is this a recast of Two Men and a Baby but, you know, with a genius and a psychopath? Jude has a significant qualm with allowing a baby to take the place of a ballistic plate on John.

06 Apr 2021S1E10 - Everything Goes to Hell01:03:34

In which we reach our first season finale, and woof it’s a big one. In “Chrysalis”, Delenn evolves into Metapod, G’Kar lays some serious pipe, and the cast questions why the station has a hedge maze. Afterward, we look back at Season 1 and forward at Season 2. Plus, we answer some audience questions, including a broader speculation about alien genitalia and whether it’s truly “pipe” that G’Kar is laying.

16 Jun 2023EMERGENCY TRAILERPOD00:23:05

We're BACK! JMS and Amazon dropped the trailer for the new B5 movie, and Zathras brought out the ceremonial Emergency Podcast button for the gang to press. They recorded a podcast without pressing the button. No one listens to Zathras.

16 May 2023S2E47 - Waiting Impatiently for the Great Filter00:56:42

But first some B5 news.

Shotseeker: Yay Elias is not dead! John's love language is avenging your death. The only thing believable about this technology is that NYC would spend a staggering amount of money on it. This episode really doesn't work in the context of its airing time.

A More Perfect Union: The Great Filter? Shaw's still in a simulation, John's a stripper pimp, there's a wedding, root goes horseback riding. Meanwhile Fusco has to go to a tunnel full of corpses. Michael Emerson's Irish accent is... not good. Jarold shipping intensifies.

QSO: root dress-up episode! 4 Alarm Fire, the best tumblr tag. Our headcanon is that root could burn water. Jude goes on a Powerbar rant. Dollar Store Picardo.

15 Nov 2022S2E24 - Really? Him?!00:34:54

Ladykiller: Even the show doesn't like this week's number, but that doesn't stop us liking how actually realistic his reactions are to the absurd situation he's in. Plus, any episode that has Carter, Shaw, and Zoe working together is an automatic A+. Amy Acker Fan Hour Time!

Reasonable Doubt: This "murderous spouses" plot is better than last season's only because there's the hope they ended up just offing each other. Bear deserves an Emmy. Chardonnay is a skeleton key to white womens' social circles.

23 Aug 2022S2E13 - Two Episodes and a Poop Emoji00:42:40

Masquerade: Who cares about the plot, we only watch it for the Bearold content. Reese goes full Daddyguard, averting the weird gross romance that could have happened in a worse show. Checking in on your buddy who's gone through some stuff is what good friends do. Does Snow get to take off the bomb vest to shower? Probably not.

Triggerman: Sorry for the poop sandwich, but here we are at the filling. Jonathan Tucker is better than this. Kevin Conway is from The Departed while everyone else is in The Godfather. We get what the episode is trying to say, but we wish that someone had, you know, edited it a bit. We need to keep track of which numbers end up shooting John--is there a pattern?

Bury the Lede: Blind Date! Aw, poor Fusco. There's a bit of whiplash as we go from mob action to political thriller. Is blackmail taught in journalism school, or is that more of an on-the-job training? Jarold hijinx are the best.

24 May 2022S2E1 - Improbable Beards00:53:48

In which Ana discovers what it's like to be on the other side of the headphones, there's a fine distinction drawn between war crimes/regular crimes/violations of civil liberties, and we discuss ships we can't discuss.

In the pilot, we question Fusco's frisking ability if he can't find a goddamn grenade on an unconscious Reese, Finch is compared to a surprised owl, Fusco is named the anti-Garibaldi, and we summarize the principal characters. Jude has ISSUES with Hobo John's beard.

26 Jul 2022S2E10 - What's in the briefcase?00:47:49

Matsya Nyaya: Are there codified rules of Dibs in Podcasting? Similarly, no body no death. Ordos is a real place, disturbingly. Even though it's Pablo Schreiber, we care so very little about this week's number... especially compared to the flasback plot. It feels like treading water in the present while they get past elements stacked up for the end of the season. Is knowledge of the Machine an SCP infohazard?

Many Happy Returns: Jarold shippers denied by a key. Jessica's death is probably a fridging. John increases his badge collection. Harold's thought counts, but gosh does he not know what a former operative would want in an apartment's architecture. We go through five or six different metaphors for how Donnely is bad at his job.

Also, the introduction of a new segment Zathras hopes to never hear again, Baja Bits.

10 Jul 2022Stardate: Freaky Friday00:55:30

In which we coin the verb "Gorned" and the warcrimes airhorn is repurposed to be a bodyswap airhorn. Are anxiety dreams part of the human genome?

WHO STABBED ORTEGAS WITH A LIRPA, WE DEMAND THIS INFORMATION.

Also, what would happen if Jude and Justen freaky fridayed?

We also talk about the other episode, which feels like it's an uncredited adaptation of "The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas" by Ursula K. LeGuin.

"Investigate with your tricorder, not with your finger" is very good advice though.

04 May 2021S1E13 - Strange Things from the Rim01:11:46

Haha “Rim”. In which Franklin sucks. “A Distant Star” reminds us that we are all star stuff, highlights the more dubious aspects of hyperspace, and prompts regret that a Earth Alliance exploration ship was named the Cortés. In “The Long Dark”, we have a great performance from Dwight Schultz, an alien monster that really creeps out Ana, and the cast discuss the merits of just spacing Franklin as punishment for gross violations of medical ethics.
