19 Nov 2021 | S1E16 - What is Breathwork? How is Burnout Driven by Fear? Interview with Carolyn Green PhD, Holotropic Facilitator - Overcoming Loss & How can the Power of Breath Heal You? Remembrance Day Tribute | 01:02:13
Carolyn Green, BSc(PT), PhD, has facilitated over a thousand non ordinary sessions using holotropic breathwork in workshops and individual sessions in BC and Alberta and co-founded thesecretofbreath.com. Carolyn’s research includes areas of pharmaceutical safety and policy. She is a non-practicing physical therapist with decades of experience and has worked in volunteer capacities in China, Africa, the Caribbean and Nepal, training the first Nepalese physical rehabilitation workers. For Carolyn the Holotropic paradigm is powerful and valuable because it blends the best of the western scientific scholarly traditions with the practical wisdom of long standing world spiritual traditions to provide rapid access to the power within. This episode also pays tribute to Remembrance Day traditions old and new, as we continue our way through this pandemic, and find ways to overcome what we have lost. Carolyn also shares some profound insights on where burnout comes from, how burnout relates to our own fears, and why Holotropic breathwork can help us through these difficult times. If you've never heard or tried holotropic breathwork and are dealing with loss, daily work anxiety, or extreme stress, this is your must listen to episode from Season 1!

04 Oct 2021 | S1E11: Interview with Debbie Chan, Daughter of a Forgotten Chinese Canadian Olympian Chun Hon Chan, Rewriting Canadian History & Finding Your Way to Shine | 00:44:33
*In this episode we rewrite a missing piece of Canadian Olympic History!* "Sound Mind. Sound Body." This was the late Chun Hon Chan. A Chinese Canadian immigrant who arrived in Montreal, Canada at the age of 19 with little money, he took whatever jobs he could, cleaning bathrooms in restaurants. Years later, learning the business, he'd become a restaurant owner himself, get married, raise a family, and then one day, become an unlikely but fully deserving and pioneering competitor in the Olympics, representing Canada in the 1968 & 1972 Summer Olympics in weightlifting. Chan set five Canadian weightlifting records, breaking stereotypes and barriers placed in his way. This is my interview with his daughter, Debbie Chan, who shines bright in her family's tribute to her late father. Chun Hon Chan is a Canadian who hasn't been recognized yet, but he was the FIRST Chinese-Canadian to represent Canada in the Olympics in mens weightlifting, and the First Chinese Canadian to represent Canada in the Olympics (I did some digging)! This podcast is all about bringing to light a piece of Canadian history that must not be forgotten and something more...because this is not just a Montreal story about loving life and living it to the fullest. It's a Canadian story in being welcomed into a nation, a sport, and community without racial biased. It is a fathers story, a family's story, and also an underdog story in unwavering determination, despite all odds. But ultimately this is a human story which proves, the improbable is possible. This is a story about setting big audacious goals, staying true to yourself, and finding a way to shine. 01 Nov 2021 | S1E15 - Overcoming Post-Pandemic Depression, Racism in Canada, and How Sharing our Lunches Can Help Heal the World! | 01:36:28
In today’s episode we interview Cassius Khan, an award winning and JUNO and WCMA nominated Canadian Indian classical musician and maestro known for playing the Tabla while singing Ghazal, a gift predestined for only a few souls every millennia. This is by far one of my favourite interviews of Season 1 because Cassius Khan is a man who shares his story, his journey, with a deep, meaningful and poetic view of life. And because we get into so many important topics like overcoming depression during the pandemic, ways to reduce post-pandemic burnout, tactics to become more resilient, where inspiration actually comes from, plus reincarnation, racism in Canada, Maslow's Hierarchy of needs, the problems with the Canadian and international music scene and music classification system, and just how sharing our lunches can help reconnect and heal the world!
