I’m excited to welcome Russell Brunson to the show. If you're not familiar with who Russell is, he started his first online company while he was in college and within a year of graduating he had sold over a million dollars worth of his own products and services from his basement.  Not too shabby. For over 10 years now Russell has been starting and scaling companies online including a software company, a supplement company and a coaching company. He’s the founder of Clickfunnels and he’s also the author of a brand new book called DotComSecrets which is all about growing your business through sales funnels and email marketing.

21 Mar 2018How to Sell Products With the FB Ads “Trifecta” Funnel with Mike Jackness01:02:31

Listeners have been asking for more shows about e-commerce, specifically what are some ways that we can be selling physical products online with Facebook ads.

 ‍‍

‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍

I asked a bunch of my friends to see who is doing some really cool stuff in the e-commerce space (that I had to have on the show!) and the name Mike Jackness kept coming up. Mike’s on track to do 8-figures this year between his four brands, and even if you don’t have an e-commerce business at the moment, you’re going to get a ton out of really smart ways that he’s marketing and selling his products with Facebook.

Today we talk about everything from how to create an e-commerce business, ways to come up with product ideas and what’s working for Mike now when it comes to his Facebook ads strategy. We’ll also talk about what are some pitfalls you absolutely need to be aware of if you’re getting into the e-commerce space, and he shares what his Facebook ads “Marketing Trifecta Sales Funnel” looks like. Mike also explains why he clears his email list on a daily basis, and a whole lot more!

02 Nov 2015Case Study: Simplifying Your Facebook Ads Strategy with Bryan Harris00:47:27

On today's episode of The Art of Paid Traffic Bryan Harris from videofruit.com joins me to talk about a Facebook ads experiment that he did where his goal was to: Primary objective: Get 500 new email subscribers for less than $1 each. Spend $500 on ads in 14 days. Make sure all new subscribers were interested in the topic of list building (his core topic).Get 50% of them to install his List Goal browser extension. Bryan loves doing experiments in his business. In fact, over an 18-month period, he's performed over 100 different marketing experiments. He then reports the results back to his audience with detailed case studies on how you can use the learnings from his experiments in your business -- something he likes to call "Learning Out Loud." Today Bryan shares his strategy for using Facebook ads to get 500 new leads for less than $1, the funnel he started out with and then the one he moved into, how he came up with his ad copy, images and his targeting.

06 Sep 2017The Perfect Storm of Facebook Ads Problems (Behind-the-Scenes of My Recent Launch)00:31:58

On today’s episode of The Art of Paid Traffic, I’m sharing with you lessons learned during the July launch of my FB ADvantage LOCAL program.

 ‍‍

‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍

We had a perfect storm of technical issues like we’ve never had before and I want to share with you what happened and the lessons I learned in the hope that it can help your business -- particularly when it comes to the big problems we had with our Facebook ads.

In addition to the Facebook ads issues, we had also major problems with our Infusionsoft email campaign AND my site got hacked just as the launch was about to close. Good times, indeed...Even if you’re not doing launches in your business right now, hearing about what happened and the lessons I learned are still going to be super useful for you, so don’t wait on diving into the episode.

15 Oct 2021Why Launching Is Doing You (And Your Potential Customers) More Harm Than Good00:26:50

Many of you have known me as the “Facebook Ads guy” for so many years, so you might be surprised why I’d say something like that.

 ‍‍

‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍

Well, I’ve seen a lot of people asking how they can maximize Facebook ads to kickstart their lead generation and get those leads into their funnel...Yet, they miss checking first where their target audience consumes content. We often hear so much about Facebook ads…And that’s sort of where our brain goes immediately.

14 Aug 2020Quick Tip: My #1 Mindset “Hack” for Scaling My Business00:11:04

I am back with another quick tip episode.  These episodes have tips or strategies you can use to help you grow your online business so you can have a bigger impact and increase your revenue in the process.

 ‍‍

‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍

In this episode, we are talking about the one thing that allowed me to shift my mindset.  It’s the idea of playing your business like you’ve already achieved your goal.  And you can do this whether you want to have a six-figure business or you want to be a seven-figure CEO.

Rather than acting and making decisions based on past results or experiences, what if you started showing up and making decisions in your business right now as if you’ve already achieved what you’re going after. When you start something and immediately think you will accomplish your goal, you’ll start showing up as more powerful, more confident, and more decisive in your decision making.

You’ll be more efficient with your time and more strategic, all of which contribute to your success. I encourage you to think about what it would be like if you ran your business like success was inevitable? What actions would you take? What would you do? Is this something you already do?

18 Jan 2017Case Study: How One Simple FB Ads Strategy Sold $400K of Christian Planners00:31:38

On today’s episode of The Art of Paid Traffic you’re going to learn how an entrepreneur and former Air Force officer, musician, and youth pastor launched two successful planner/journals over the past year and a half -- one is a Christian planner and the other a Catholic planner…...and how his Facebook ads strategy helped him get each of these businesses to multiple 6-figures in a very short amount of time.

 ‍‍

‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍

Vinny Delacruz breaks down everything he’s done to get his business to where it is today, including his simple yet super effective Facebook ads strategy that’s generated massive returns.

I first met Vinny when he came to my FBA LIVE in December in San Diego and he’s now part of my 6-month Small Group Coaching Intensive.  I was immediately impressed in how Vinny’s a take action first kinda person, figuring things out as he goes.

25 Sep 2019Strategy Session: How to Increase Revenue by $25K/mo with Jasmine Shea00:52:03

For today’s show I wanted to share with you a strategy session I recently had with a member of my Accelerator Group Mastermind who is looking to increase her monthly revenue by $25,000 – in addition to what she is generating right now in her business.

 ‍‍

‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍

Jasmine Shea is the founder of Your Dinner Is Planned, the easiest and most affordable way to cook healthy dinners for your family. Her thriving online membership brings brand-new, healthy recipes to its members each week, along with organized and portioned grocery checklists, and much more.

Jasmine is very active on Instagram, and right now she is doing her launches on that platform. She’s been launching quarterly, where the doors have been open for 3 days, and then she builds a waitlist for her membership. Very recently she closed the cart on a $1 trial where new members get access to her content for 7 days, and she signed up 218 new members, with an impressive 74% of those people staying on for full payment after the 7-day trial.

Jasmine’s launches have been consistent, as last quarter she saw 206 new members join, but her top priority now is getting new members and seeing a significant increase in these numbers the next time she launches. We also talk about some other priorities for her, including how she wants to enhance her customer experience, and further improve her already strong retention numbers (and lifetime customer value).

24 Oct 2018How Realtors Can Grow Their Business with Facebook Ads00:51:59

This is an episode that’s been a long time coming, and it’s a topic I get asked about a lot. Today’s episode is for real estate agents as well as people wanting to manage Facebook ads for realtors.

 ‍‍

‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍

If you fall into neither category, don’t turn this off, because there are so many principles in this one that will be relevant for multiple types of businesses. So why did I want to do this episode? I think real estate agents tend to be stuck in the ways of traditional marketing, and they often aren’t open to hearing about new and more effective ways to market their real estate businesses.

You’ll be hearing lots of strategies for positioning yourself as the “go-to” real estate professional in your area, or if you have a Facebook ads business, the person who is best suited to help real estate agents sell their listings and attract buyers to list with them.

Jennifer Myers is a Realtor in the Washington, DC area, and she owns an extremely successful real estate brokerage there. She’ll be revealing the three phases of marketing your real estate business and her formula for repeatable, consistent growth for real estate professionals. Jennifer is also sharing the 5 big mistakes that she sees people in this industry doing wrong when marking their business, so this is definitely an episode you’re going to want to listen to!

27 Apr 2016How to Create High Converting Instagram Ads00:32:30

On the show today we're talking about a topic everyone's been asking about -- Instagram Ads.  And joining me to talk some IG ads is Ethan Sigmon from Social Insight. I ran a bunch of Instagram ads during my recent re-launch for The FB ADvantage and they actually performed well for me. And one thing I found interesting was the ads that performed better were from warm traffic.  Not that this was a super surprise but the cold traffic ads were really bad. I’ve heard about similar results from several people over the past few months but as you’ll hear today, Ethan shares his own results when it comes to targeting cold and warm traffic on Instagram. We also get into the size and types of images that are getting the best results with Instagram ads.

18 Sep 2020Quick Tip: The Quickest Way to Predictable $5K Months00:18:13

Do you want to start making a consistent income from your online business?

 ‍‍

‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍

Today I want to share with you the quickest way to predictable $5K months in your business, because let’s be honest, we all want it. I want to share my own experience from my business over the past seven years, as well as that of the hundreds of students that I've worked with over the years as I've helped them optimize, grow, and scale their online businesses.

What have I learned? The quickest way to predictable $5K months is by having a flagship offer. A flagship offer is what you’re known for, or what you’re becoming known for if you're still in the very early stages of your business.

The big mistake that I see so many online course creators making when trying to grow and scale their business is that they have too many offers. Their mindset is that the more offers that they have, the more money they’re going to make. I want to flip that and tell you why I believe that the fewer offers you have, the more money you’ll make and the faster you’ll grow.

What I see happen all the time is that when a course doesn’t sell well, the course creator decides that nobody wants their program and they say “hey, maybe I should create a membership instead.” This just leads to more and more offers, but doesn’t address the root of the problem. So let’s address it together today.

02 Dec 2020“Best Of": [Case Study] How to OWN a Niche Slow & Steady w/ Kate Dillon01:02:07

Today’s episode is going to be a “best of” replay of one of the most highly downloaded episodes in 2020.

 ‍‍

‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍

My guest on this episode is Kate Dillon.  Kate is in a very niche market.  In fact, she’s known as the “Girl Who Sells Race Car Parts” and she has an e-commerce business that at the time of this recording back in January, was projected to break 7-figures in 2020.

In this episode we cover her journey in starting and growing her online training business in 2019, and all the lessons that she’s learned along the way. Kate initially created an online course for race car drivers, which she turned into a membership site in the latter part of last year.

Kate uses a ton of videos in her business and is super effective at using Facebook groups in her overall marketing strategy.  Kate knows her target audience very well, which allows her to drive all of her messaging and marketing to an audience that isn’t used to purchasing online course offerings. I got so much insight from what she had to say in this conversation so I am excited to bring it back in case you missed this episode the first time!

10 Nov 2017(Case Study) How a Non-Profit Cooking School for Kids is Growing with Facebook Ads00:48:57

For today’s episode, I’ve got another great conversation with a student of mine.

 ‍‍

Her name is Tiffany Cavegn, and she’s the founder of The Kids Cooking School, which is a non-profit cooking school for kids based in Minnesota. Earlier this year, Tiffany was brand new to Facebook ads, and she’s been learning how to use them to grow her cooking school over the last several months.

I’ve been tracking her progress really carefully and I wanted to have her share her story because I feel so many of you will get a ton of values from the lessons that Tiffany has learned along the way when it comes to Facebook ads.

23 May 2018Strategy Sessions: Reaching Target Customers, Creating Offers & Leveraging Content with Sarah Young00:32:38

On today’s show, I have another strategy session call, this time with Sarah Young of BizTemplateBabe.com, which was just started in January of this year.

 ‍‍

‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍

Through her site, Sarah offers fully editable designer templates and her clients simple, fun and affordable branding options. You’ll hear how last year Sarah was actually doing completely something different through a blog for moms. This blog had a big following but she decided to transition when she was feeling burnt out and looking for a change. Sarah’s background is actually in interior and graphic design, and she’s found a way to use her skills and experience to help other business owners with their branding.

What she’s discovered though is that she’s targeting a much different audience now and starting from scratch, so our call today focuses on how she get qualified business owners as clients of her new venture. If you go to Sarah’s Etsy store you’ll see that she’s already created a large amount of content and suites of products, and the strategies and ideas that we discuss in this episode are really just ways to use the content she already has and is creating on a regular basis, to really grow her business.

This is mainly aimed at product based businesses but will also be really helpful if you’re advertising on the platform from basically now through the end of the year.

But first, I’m super pumped up to announce details for my upcoming live Facebook ads implementation workshop here in San Diego.  FBA Live is going to start on Thursday evening, December 7th with an opening night happy hour and then we’ll go Friday and Saturday, December 8th and 9th. As I mentioned this is an implementation workshop so we’ll be actually working on your Facebook ad campaigns together over the two days and we’ll be having conversations around strategy and areas for improvement for your campaigns.

14 Aug 2019From Hobby to THRIVING Online Business with Hallie Sherman00:50:05

My guest today is a member of my current Accelerator mastermind group, and she has been crushing it in just the short time since we started working together!

 ‍‍

‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍

Hallie Sherman is a speech-language pathologist who works full-time in the public school system in New York, and for the last 8 years she’s also been selling digital resources for busy speech-language pathologists online, and I’m sure that her story will resonate with many of the listeners of this podcast.

Hallie began selling her resources on a website called Teachers Pay Teachers back in 2012, and after realizing that she only had so many hours in a week, she has now shifted her focus to creating her own “mini-courses” to sell on her own website. Her products are reasonably priced, about $30 for one and $75 for a bundle, and

Hallie recently had a very successful launch, generating 5-figures in revenue in just 5 days. In this episode you’ll hear how Hallie has made the transition from “hobby” to a true online business, and what really showed her that her audience wanted more digital offerings from her. She reveals how she built her email list, which now has over 15,000 subscribers, and the way she launched her first online course to generate those 5-figures in revenue.

From listening you’ll note that Hallie is an action taker who always has an open mind, and she doesn’t overcomplicate the process or try to re-invent the wheel. The way she launched is actually the opposite of what I usually teach my students, in that she created the course first and then sold it, but it worked really well for her since she already had the content ready and knew what she was going to have in her mini-courses.

Hallie has created amazing momentum in her business so far, and I truly believe the sky is the limit for her when it comes to what she can create in her life and business!

08 Nov 2017Creating Your Ideal Facebook Ads Business from Scratch with Salome Schillack00:48:30

I’m excited today to welcome one of my students to the podcast. Her name is Salome Schillack and her website and business is called ShineAndSucceed.com.

 ‍‍

‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍

Salome lives down in Australia and she’s quickly created an awesome Facebook ads business for herself, while being one of the most positive and passionate people I know who’s trying to help female online business owners.

In this episode Salome talks about the ways she’s been able to grow her Facebook ads business, the mindset you need to have if you are going to do this too and what it’s like to move on from a client that’s draining you (even if you really want the income from that client)!

She also shares her strategy for getting clients when she was first starting out and you might be surprised to hear the number of free campaigns she had to run at first. Salome reveals the real reason why she’s doing what she’s doing, and we look at the “Ripple Effect” that this sort of work can have in the world.

11 Dec 2019How She Did It: From $10K/mo to $30K/mo In 5 Months w/ Ashley Shaw01:02:43

Today’s guest is an Accelerator Mastermind member who has come a long way in her business in a relatively short amount of time, and I’ve really wanted to introduce you to her.

 ‍‍

‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍

Ashley Shaw helps top-tier social sellers and entrepreneurs eliminate the overwhelm in their marketing efforts so they can have the business of their dreams, and doesn’t just show others how to do this, she has taken the actions to create this reality in her own life.

In this episode you’ll hear all about how Ashley’s background has contributed to where she is today, including her first real sales experience selling $1,200 knife sets, her 16 years of fitness and sales experience and her time climbing the corporate ladder to the top of an organization.

Ashley loves teaching others and understanding how to move people to action, and she reveals something I didn’t know in this episode, that she actually has an English Literature degree she now uses in her work creating content and emails for herself and her clients. You’ll hear what led Ashley to create her Fitness Leader Institute online platform, and how she launched her very first $49 course.

She talks about how she realized she was waiting on the sidelines at the start of last year, and the shifts in both her business model and mindset that allowed her to go “pro” as she now offers a muti-tiered membership to her customers. Along the way Ashley has recognized the opportunities available to her, and her business has constantly progressed to a point at which she is now generating her goal of almost $30,000 revenue each month.

She’s achieved her goal of scaling her business while actually working less, and she and her husband recently were even able to travel for 6 whole weeks while Ashley only had to work about an hour each day. I’m so proud of what Ashley has achieved so far, and I know that she’s just getting started. There are so many good lessons you can take from her story if you keep an open mind, continue to try new things and most of all, just take action!

09 May 2018Back to Basics: How to Avoid the Biggest Mistake People Make with Their Facebook Ads00:36:43

On the show today I’m going to be sharing with you the biggest mistake that I see people making, including those new to Facebook ads and experienced Facebook ad managers.

 ‍‍

‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍

This mistake is really keeping them from the results they want to be achieving with their ads, notably inexpensive leads and sales. If you’ve read the book The One Thing by Gary Keller and Jay Papasan, you know that the concept of the book is to determine what is the one thing that you can do, that by doing it everything else will be easier or unnecessary. That’s really what we’ll be talking about here as it applies to Facebook ads.

Specifically, you’re going to hear why taking the time to fully understand your target audience on a holistic level before running your ads is critical to setting yourself up for success with your Facebook ads.

After months of frustrated testing, she finally started getting the results she was hoping for, lowering her cost per lead by two-thirds and also cutting her cost per sale.

Amber shares what she’s doing to get such good results, including a discussion around her offers, the importance of upsells, the challenges her specific business faces in terms of Facebook compliance and a lot more.

31 Jan 20185 Simple Steps to a High-Converting “Challenge” Funnel with Tammy Cannon00:28:18

On the show today I’m joined by one of my students, Tammy Cannon. Tammy owns a business called Cannon Social Media, and she creates online courses and manages Facebook ads for creative businesses.

 ‍‍

‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍

In this episode, Tammy is going to break down a simple automated sales funnel that she created which allowed her to grow her email list and also generate revenue through an Instagram challenge. We’ll look at where she got the idea to run the challenge, what her objectives were with it and why she went the automated route to deliver it. Tammy also shares how she was able to get a 60% conversion rate on her opt-in page and what she did in terms of an upsell.

The big takeaway I want you to get here is the simplicity of it all. You’re going to hear how she started out promoting her challenge to her Facebook group by listening to the members’ feedback and then refined the funnel from there. You’ll notice that Tammy only spent about $300 over two weeks to test it out against cold traffic, and her future plans this year to re-run the challenge with some adjustments. This really is something that anyone can do!

04 Dec 2020Quick Tip: Overcoming the Fear of Hiring00:22:18

Have you ever hired someone for your team that didn't work out?

 ‍‍

‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍

If you're nodding your head right now, you are very likely afraid to hire again because you don’t want to get burned a second time. I get it. I’ve been there. But if you want to truly have a bigger impact with your business, generate more income, and create freedom in your schedule, you cannot scale your business alone. You need help.

So today I want to get into the mindset around hiring, particularly reframing it for those of you who have been burned before. Remember, there is no failure. You can always learn from a situation that didn’t go the way you hoped.

If you hired someone and it didn't work out, how can you use that experience to improve your next hire? Don’t let it stop you from ever hiring again. Let’s talk it through together in this episode.

And a great way to convert leads into sales is through email marketing -- something most all of us can be better at. On today’s episode of The Art of Paid Traffic, email marketing expert Andre Chaperon joins me to share how to write emails that people WANT to read and gets them to take action.

04 Aug 2021The Critical 4 Financial Metrics of Your Business with Michael King00:45:26

You need to understand your financial metrics when it comes to your business.I say this ALL the time, so we are actually getting into the details of it in this episode.

 ‍‍

‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍

I am joined by Michael King to talk about the critical four financial metrics of your business: revenue, gross profit, net profit, and cash. Michael is a business money coach and the CEO of KFE Solutions. After spending the first 11 years of his career in the military, Michael ventured into the world of business. He quickly learned that he needed to level up his financial IQ to survive.

The big problem he found was the fact that most financial “experts” couldn’t explain business money concepts in a way that could be quickly understood and easily applied to real-world problems that entrepreneurs encounter.

Michael decided to bridge that gap. In 2016, he created KFE Solutions with the mission of helping business owners understand their numbers so they can make better decisions. Since then, Michael and his team have worked with hundreds of entrepreneurs to help them scale their businesses profitably.

01 Aug 2018Strategy Session: Basic Sales Funnel Breakdown + Targeting New FB Ads Audiences00:33:28

I haven’t done a strategy session episode in a while, but the feedback I’ve gotten is that you want to hear more of them, so today I’m bringing you a conversation with one of my ROI Club membership students.

 ‍‍

‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍

Larissa Maclemon serves salon owners in the hair and beauty space through a membership program and a done-for-you service at her site, SalonOwnersCollective.com. Her program teaches members how to market their businesses and it helps take the overwhelm out of the tech side of marketing their salon businesses.

As you’ll hear, she’s currently running warm traffic into a sales funnel, beginning with an opt-in that leads to an email sequence and eventually to a 3-day special offer to get 50% off the first month of her membership program.

In this strategy session, we’re going to be breaking down Larissa’s funnel, which is pretty basic at this time and talking about the need to really know your numbers so that you have an accurate picture of how your funnel is performing. A lot of what we cover today is about building warm audiences to target with Facebook ads, as well as expanding her Facebook ads into cold targeting interests.

In just a few months, his business is doing 6-figures a month selling high-ticket services to cold traffic. Chris has been “behind the scenes” building funnels and driving paid traffic for the past 7 years while working with several very successful online entrepreneurs. His experience recently led him to co-found his company at TrafficandFunnels.com.

Chris’s company coaches experts to market their offerings systematically and optimize ROI on paid traffic -- specifically cold traffic. I was pumped to bring Chris back on the show because his recent business moves have been, well, bold.  And also brilliant. 27 Dec 2017Strategy Sessions: Improving + Scaling Your Webinar Funnel with Denise Schmeichler00:39:32

For today’s show, we have another Facebook ads strategy session, this time with Denise Schmeichler.

 ‍‍

‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍

Denise has created a content marketing course that’s in Spanish, and she’s looking to scale her Facebook ads for her future campaigns - without increasing conversion costs. We’re going to break down her webinar sales funnels to see where we can make improvements to increase her overall revenue. You’ll hear me asking Denise a lot of questions to get an idea of how effective her funnel is at the moment, and this is because we don’t want to be pushing more leads through a broken funnel!

We look at the stats from Denise’s webinars, and let me tell you, she came to this call with her numbers ready. I share with her how I would approach her situation, including which levers to focus on that will really push the results that she is looking for. I love these types of conversations and even if you’re not doing webinars, you’re going to find a ton of value here that you can apply to your business.

09 Jan 2019Strategy Session: Troubleshooting Facebook Video Ads, Webinar Funnel & Audience Targeting00:31:48

Today’s episode is a strategy session with one of my students, Alan Beckley. Alan is an entrepreneur whose mission is helping inventors and entrepreneurs to achieve their dreams more quickly.

 ‍‍

‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍

Alan has been running video ads and testing short versus longer copy, but he’s now wondering how he can see better results from his Facebook marketing as it’s not working quite as well as he would like it to. He’s also hosted multiple webinars for How to License Your Invention for Royalties, and is looking for ways to reach his ideal audience of inventors (and people who want to become one), and have more registrations and attendees.

In this episode we break down his current ad campaign and webinar funnel, analyzing the numbers while I look for a “red flag”, or reason for why he’s not seeing the results he’s after. I don’t feel that Alan needs a large budget for running ads, but he does need more traffic. As you’ll hear, his clickthrough and conversion rates are pretty strong, so I share my recommendations for how he can get more traffic into his funnel to drive sales of his products. There are also things that he can do in terms of testing at the front end of his funnel, in order to hopefully lower that cost per lead while raising the relevance score of his ads.

05 Aug 2018How Scaling Back Actually Grew Her FB Ads Business with Rachel McMichael00:46:45

Today’s guest on the podcast is Rachel McMichael, someone who is also a member of James Wedmore’s Inner Circle Mastermind with me and a former student of my Facebook Ads Manager Program.

 ‍‍

‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍

In this episode, Rachel really opens up about the evolution of her business, and I can say that I haven’t seen her happier than she is right now. Not to mention, her and I have something in common as she just found out she’s pregnant, this time with her second child!

Rachel now has an online web design and Facebook ads agency serving coaches and online course creators that has really taken off. In fact, Rachel is fully booked and has a waiting list of at least 6 months at the moment, but getting to this point wasn’t without some struggles, which she talks about today.

Rachel really had the tech and ads part down, but she joined my course looking for tips and strategies for growing the business side of things while getting overwhelmed in the process. The most exciting takeaway for listeners of this episode is hearing that there will never be a shortage of work for good Facebook ads managers!

27 Jul 2015How to Use Web Psychology and Online Persuasion to Improve Your Online Advertising with Nathalie Nahai00:32:46

On today's episode of The Art of Paid Traffic I’m really excited to welcome "the web psychologist", Nathalie Nahai.Nathalie is the best-selling author of 'Webs of Influence, the Psychology of Online Persuasion', and I invited her on to the podcast to talk about how understanding some simple web psychology can go a long way in improving your online advertising efforts.

18 Jul 2018Flipping the Mic: A deep dive into my Mindset, Money and Motivation01:02:18

Today’s a very special show, as it’s the big 200th episode of The Art of Paid Traffic! We’re doing things a bit differently today too, as I’m being interviewed in this one by my good friend, Amy Porterfield.

 ‍‍

‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍

You’ll hear Amy get down to business and ask me to share what my middle name is, the first concerts I attended and how I’m a coffee snob now (but wasn’t always), and much more. You’re going to hear the crazy story again of how I met my wife Amy, and what’s going through my mind as I’m getting set to become a dad for the very first time, as well as the influence my own dad has had on my life.

I give the behind-the-scenes of starting a Facebook ads business, including what my motivation was back then and what my real motivation is now. I also open up about a health issue that’s brought me down in the past, and the story I made up in my mind about it, as well as my ongoing struggle with anxiety and perfectionism.

10 Feb 2021Apple's iOS Privacy Updates and Your Ads: What You Need to Know00:47:42

Are you trying not to freak out about the Apple iOS privacy updates and how they are going to affect your ads? Don’t panic. We’re getting into everything you need to know in this episode!

 ‍‍

‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍

First, you need to understand what’s going on here. Things are going to change, but it’s not the end of the world. As long as you understand what’s going on, you’ll be prepared. To help us with that, we’re going to sit down with a good buddy of mine, Terrell Brown.

Terrell is a Veteran of the Facebook Ads world. Having started paid digital media in the social space starting in 2008, he has spent over $100 Million in ad spend over the course of his time.

As a Co-Founder of Ecomm and Coffee and a member of Mobius Media Solutions, he works daily with e-commerce companies, course creators, and more to scale and grow businesses through Facebook ads.

He’s a brilliant Facebook Ads Manager. He also has great contacts at Facebook, so he has been getting a lot of information directly from Facebook about the iOS update, how it’s going to affect our ads and what we can do to prepare for it.

26 Jul 2016How a Local Roofing Company Increased Business by 40% with FB Ads00:40:05

Have you ever thought about the type of information your potential customers might need before they: Decide to start shopping for what it is you offer; Decide they’re ready to buy what you offer; And/or actually decide to buy from you?

 ‍‍

‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍

Adam Sand, co-owner of a roofing company in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and my guest today on The Art of Paid Traffic, has seen massive growth in his business recently. Growth that really started when he started using Facebook ads with a value-first marketing approach. Meaning, he leads with (free) valuable and helpful information for potential customers.

Think about it…Roofing is a several thousand dollar expense.  If you own a roofing company, or sell any high-ticket product or service, you’re not going to sell directly from your ads. You have to build trust and be seen as an authority first before people will want to work with you.

Using this education-based marketing approach with Facebook ads, Adam has grown his business by 40% in three months.  40% in three months selling several thousand dollar roofs!  And, he’s attracting more business now than he can handle. Not a bad problem to have, if you ask me This is why I wanted to have him on the podcast -- to learn more about Adam’s super smart approach to using Facebook Ads to grow his business.

14 Feb 2018How to Use Google's Ad Offerings to Diversify Your Online Marketing with Mike Rhodes00:56:37

Today I’m welcoming the owner of WebSavvy, Mike Rhodes, to The Art of Paid Traffic.

 ‍‍

‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍

WebSavvy provides services that drive performance on the channels that most directly impact digital ROI, such as Google AdWords. We’ve talked about Google AdWords on the show before and awhile back I began asking around for the go-to person when it comes to this topic to bring on the podcast. Mike Rhodes is a name I kept hearing, and you’ll he’s the perfect person to share more about the massive opportunities with Google AdWords (that I know are being overlooked by a lot of people).

Mike gives some great tips on these opportunities and which businesses AdWords are for - and who maybe shouldn’t be spending money on them. He talks about the changes he’s seen in online advertising the past several years, the keys to remarketing, and he also takes us through how he would market a hypothetical business that I ask him about. You’re going to hear Mike explain why when it comes to Google AdWords, you really don’t need to make it difficult but you do need to understand your limitations and know when it is the right time to get help from a team of experts.

10 Jul 2015How to Increase Conversions Using Emotional Triggers with Talia Wolf00:37:17

On today's episode of The Art of Paid Traffic, Talia Wolf, founder and CEO Conversioner, joins me to talk about using emotional triggers and user behavior to grow your business.

 ‍‍

‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍

This whole episode comes down to really understanding your customers or your target customers better so that you can appeal to them on an emotional level with email writing, ad copy, landing pages - basically how you communicate with them to sell your products or services. Talia and I discuss how you might look at solving your customer's emotional needs and then using these triggers to split test different points in your sales funnel based.

When it comes to paid traffic, we talk a lot about not focusing on the features of what your service or product can do but rather focus on the benefits for your customer. As you'll hear today with Talia, she talks about taking it beyond benefits and addressing the emotional needs of your customer that your product or service can solve.

10 Jul 2019How to (Affordably) Legally Protect Your Online Business, with Bobby Klinck00:56:58

With the exception of one episode about GDPR, we haven’t really covered any legal topics here on the podcast.

 ‍‍

‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍

Well, that’s about to change today, because I’m joined by Bobby Klinck, a student of mine who says he’s “not your typical lawyer!” Bobby has a law degree from Harvard and he now considers himself an entrepreneur first. He’s been in the online space for about 5 years now, beginning by using online marketing to build his own law firm and now focusing on helping online entrepreneurs spot potential issues in their own businesses.

In this episode Bobby shares what the transition from practicing to what he’s doing now looked like, as well as some of the early struggles he had in his online business, including a failed launch where he spent $10,000 and made only one sale.

Bobby says he really started getting traction last year when he began to really listen to and understand his clients, as well putting into practice what he has learned from this podcast.

After starting by offering online courses related to legal issues, Bobby now gives training and charges for his templates. He also helps online entrepreneurs build the foundation for their business and their fan bases, so they can launch their products successfully.

We talk about a lot here and it can be overwhelming to hear about the legal stuff that comes up in business, but the key thing Bobby says is to not it stop you, and there are steps you can take now to make protecting yourself easy.

In addition to all the great advice Bobby gives in this episode on how we can protect ourselves as online entrepreneurs, I think what makes Bobby so relatable is that he is open to sharing his own journey, and the struggles he’s faced while building his personal brand.

As you’ll hear, Shannon is the ideal person to have this discussion with. As she earned her PhD, she discovered that our brains are able to change, and that we can actually hardwire new ways of thinking, acting, and being.

When she dug into this internal work and combined it with the strategies she had been relying on for years, she was finally able to integrate her life and her business. She now is able to take time away to spend with her kids, increase her impact through my nonprofit, Mosaic Vision, and grow her revenue.

The best part is that it’s not that difficult to remove the mental blocks that are holding you back, and in this episode Shannon provides tactical tips and action steps you can start taking today to do this, along with access to her free daily brain priming audio series – that just takes minutes a day!

In this episode we cover self-worth, our subconscious, money beliefs and the science behind what makes someone successful, in whatever way you define success. What Shannon shares today shows that it all really comes down to the realization that we are the creators of our thoughts, and we really do have the choice to get where we want to go.

04 Sep 2020Quick Tip: 3 Essential Questions For Clarity In Your Business00:15:10

Do you want to grow your business more quickly and attract your ideal client?

 ‍‍

‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍

In today's episode, I want to help you uncover a basic marketing blind spot that so many people have in their businesses, and that I had for a long time too. Whether you’re early on in your business and you're just trying to get traction or you have a successful business and you're trying to scale to seven figures, this is going to be relevant for you. The marketing blind spot that I want to talk to you about is getting clarity on three things. Who you serve, what problem you solve for them, and how you solve that problem. This is something that I want you to always be thinking about refining. Consistently asking these three questions and getting answers to them is going to help you grow and scale your business more quickly, attract the type of audience that you want to be serving, and scale your business for a bigger impact.

01 Jul 2020Overcoming Mindset Blocks to Create a Business You Love w/ Melissa Webb00:38:49

Do you feel like you need permission to say that you have an idea worth committing to? Are you trying to prove to yourself and others that you have value?

 ‍‍

‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍

Imagine how free you would feel if those thoughts weren’t holding you back. Today’s guest, Melissa Webb, felt like she needed permission. She even asked for my permission, and you know what I told her? Of course you have my permission but you don’t NEED it. Lifting that mindset block changed everything. She went from trying to please everyone and doing way too much, to offering a simplified service to an audience she truly wanted to serve.

Melissa Webb creates online writing communities to support and encourage families in home education. She is the owner and creator of Write On! Melissa is a published children's book author and a co-host on The Mel & Kel Show podcast. Melissa is a former teacher who left the classroom to start an online business teaching writing to home school teachers.

I asked her to join me today to share her journey from making money as a side hustle to going full time with her business, and the struggles that she's faced along the way. From mindset blocks to moving beyond referrals and creating a predictable stream of leads in sales.

11 Aug 20215 Reasons a Personality Quiz Should Be Your Next Lead Magnet with Linda Sidhu00:44:58

Do you use any type of quiz as a lead magnet in your business?

 ‍‍

‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍

Some business owners ask me if quizzes are dead. My guest in this episode, Linda Sidhu, is here to share with us her expertise on quizzes (specifically personality-based quizzes) and tell us why they aren’t at all dead!

We're breaking down exactly why it's important to have a quiz that allows you to learn as much as possible about the person taking the quiz, how to use their responses to serve them in the best way possible, and how to make it really fun for them. Linda Sidhu is a list-building expert and strategic partner with Interact (the quiz platform), who helps entrepreneurs create irresistible personality quizzes that bring in hundreds of new subscribers on autopilot.

As a former top ten pharmaceutical sales representative, she had extensive training in personality types. She took the same methods that worked for selling products face-to-face and turned them into a personality quiz framework that converts views to leads at 70% and helps craft personalized marketing for her customers. Linda has been featured in Interact’s quiz marketing podcast and the #prettyawkward entrepreneur podcast.

26 Jun 2020Quick Tip: 3 Simple Steps to Optimizing Your Funnel00:12:08

Today we are talking about how to optimize your funnel by working smarter, not harder. So many people think that the more they offer in their business, the higher their revenue will be, but that could not be further from the truth.

 ‍‍

‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍

The key is to simplify. You really want your business to be focused on one primary offer. We are looking at the example of an evergreen funnel belonging to accelerator student Kerry, and how we were able to pinpoint where he was losing sales and fix it. If there’s one thing I want you to take away from this episode, it’s that you need to use the data, not your emotions, to make decisions and drive your business.

19 Sep 2018How to Use Challenges to Grow Your List & Make More Sales with Zach Spuckler00:51:57

I’ve been talking about having today’s guest on the show for a long time now, so I’m very excited to welcome Zach Spuckler to The Art of Paid Traffic.

 ‍‍

‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍

When I think of challenges Zach is the person who comes to mind, and he’s here today to dive into the framework he has created that not only has worked for him but so many of his students. Zach’s been doing challenges for a few years now, and a challenge actually gave him his first 6-figure launch, but you’ll hear how he started out online doing everything from paid surveys, to freelance writing, to direct sales and then running a food blog.

Zach has a love of systems, marketing and making things simple. In fact, when I have questions around getting processes in place in my business, he’s the person I ask, and he’s brilliant when it comes to this stuff.

04 Dec 2019Overwhelmed In Your Business? You’re Not Alone, with Greg Hickman01:05:21

My guest today is my good friend Greg Hickman, who is the founder and CEO of System.ly.

 ‍‍

‍‍ ‍‍ ‍‍

Their mission is to enable and support entrepreneurs to amplify their best so they can spend their time on the things that matter most. Why I really wanted to have Greg on the show today is because a couple months ago he posted something on his Facebook page that really caught my eye, and it’s something that I’ve felt and experienced in the recent past.

Today you’ll hear me read Greg’s entire post, and what he said is something that doesn’t get talked about enough. This is a wide-ranging conversation on what it’s really like to build and grow an online business, and we reveal it all in this episode. We talk about things like why’s it’s actually ok to feel overwhelmed, and how the problems and challenges that you face in business won’t magically disappear as you grow your business.

Greg shares what happens when you let someone else’s definition of a “successful” business guide your actions, and how you don’t always need to be climbing a mountain and playing the comparison game with others. This conversation is one that might happen over coffee, or behind closed doors, but not openly on a podcast. We both share our experiences and I think it’s going to provide a lot of value to listeners, which is why I wanted to bring this episode to you today.
