Episode 256: Nothing is Sacred! Jozalyn Sharp is a Las Vegas-based stand-up comedian who recently filmed her comedy special at the Comedy Fort in Fort Collins, CO. Performing since she was 12 years old, she’s learned over the years that in order to get better, you have to possess self-awareness. In order to improve you have to be vulnerable, and sometimes that means bombing. Hard. In front of 11 people. Jozalyn shares with Stand up Comic Dan Bublitz Jr the extremes of being a female comedian, getting 1% better as you go, and how a comedy show is an exercise in building trust - and it all starts out at a deficit. Her advice to comics: we bomb because we take risks, and that’s how you get better. She has more insights on building a set for an album, and Jozalyn and Dan muse on how sometimes the worst crowd is the one that’s small but enjoys the show quietly: in other words when saving lines and crowd-work won’t bail you out! 16 Dec 2022You CAN Still Die of Secondhand Smoke with Dewayne White (Plano Comedy Festival)01:12:06
Episode 258: You CAN still die of secondhand smoke! Dewayne White is a DC-based comedian who draws on his experience in the united states Army for 23 years to fuel his journey through comedy. Give this episode a listen, and don’t miss the end of his bombing story! Stand-up comic and podcast host Dan Bublitz Jr jives with Dewayne on the comic’s writing process, a comedian’s view of a person trying comedy for the first time, how writing jokes can be like putting pieces of a puzzle together (and what happens when you don’t!), and leaving room for spontaneity in your sets to cultivate new punchlines. 04 Nov 2022I Got Us A Lawyer for This Podcast with Rocky Dhir (Plano Comedy Festival)01:08:28
Episode 253: I got us a lawyer for this podcast! In this episode, newcomer Rocky Dhir (Plano Comedy Festival) tells the guys a bombing story that reminds us all that you can choose the material, but not the people in the room. Fireworks! Luckily for Rocky, he’s a lawyer, and he’s been in a few tough situations. The guys talk about the pros and cons of comedy classes, what to consider when starting comedy later in life, and staying on comedy’s true mission: bringing joy and laughter to other people. A little self-awareness goes a long way for a comic - and that means being willing to take feedback. Please rate and review

Rocky Dhir

Like all the great comedians in history, Rocky Dhir was just a baby when he was born. Like them, Rocky never fully matured into a functioning adult. Instead, he roams from place to place and club to club looking for audiences who are willing to lend him an ear or, better yet, a couple of bucks. Rocky has been doing stand-up since June 2021. Based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Rocky has performed inside and outside of Texas. Rocky has a day job, though even he doesn’t quite know what it entails. He found a charitable yet gullible lady who married him. They produced a child, and so far — thankfully — all of Rocky’s genes appear to be recessive.
