In this episode, we sit down with dressage rider and stallion owner, Kasey Cannon. Kasey is an adult amateur dressage rider, who owns and rides her stallion Diesel CF (Dressage Royal X Ritual). Diesel is a full brother to the German Hanoverian stallion, Damsey FRH. In October, Kasey took leave from her job as an avocado farmer at her beautiful Carronada Farms in Moorpark, California to travel to Germany for a unique, immersive, dressage training experience with Olympian Helen Langehanenberg. Emily Miles of Wally Woo Farm in Kansas has been training young horses since she was a kid herself. Emily is also a Bronze, Silver and Gold USDF Medalist, and she has won numerous national titles, including the U25/Brentina Cup and every Young Horse and Developing Horse division at the national championships. Emily has represented the United States at the World Championships in Verden, Germany and Ermelo, Netherlands with WakeUp, Sole Mio and Daily Show. For a warmblood stallion to become a fully approved breeding stallion with many of the major registries, a stallion is required to be licensed and proven in sport. The North American Stallion Sport Test is a path to achieve the sport requirement for many registries. It is a rigorous test where a panel of judges and test riders, approved by the German Equestrian Federation, observe and test ride the stallions over the course of three days. To complete the sport test, a stallion must attend on two separate years. | |||

The Hannoveraner Verband was founded in 1922 and since that time it has been organized into regional societies, like Hanover or North Rhine-Westphalia. Hannoveraner International is one of these regional societies and represents the interests of Hanoverian breeders all over the world. It includes daughter societies in the U. S., Great Britain, Australia and New Zealand. And breeding clubs in Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Italy, Russia, Sweden, and South Africa. All together, these clubs and societies make up Hannoveraner International and are integrated into the Verband with full voting rights. In this podcast, Candice Klingbeil speaks to Maren Schlender, the Deputy Breeder Manager of the Verband about how the daughter societies and breeding clubs are held to a high standard set by the Verband. She also speaks to Inga Hamilton, President of the Eastern Breeding Club of the Canadian Hanoverian Society about the benefits of being a breeding club and remaining directly associated with the Verband. And finally, she speaks to Natalie DiBerardinis, the President of the American Hanoverian Society about some of the unique advantages of being a daughter society.
