This week, I've just dropped my 2008 Nissan Frontier off at an offroad shop where they'll be completing the rear axle swap from a Nissan Titan into my Frontier. The front of my truck is already Titan swapped, so this will complete the upgrades to make the rear match the front.

In addition to the Titan swap, there are a bunch of other exciting upgrades and mods coming to the truck over the winter and I'm going to talk through those as well as the timeline for the build.

On today's Podcast, I'm talking about the basics of cooking while Overlanding. There are a few things you need to think about like gear you'll need based on the complexity of what you're going to cook. You'll also need to think about what kind of storage is required based on what you want to make. 

For example, if you're cooking very complex things, you'll need additional pots, pans, utensils, storage containers, perhaps a fridge/freezer. You'll need bigger and more capable cooking surfaces like a Skottle or double burner stove. 

Or, you can go super basic, and just bring Mountain House meals that basically require you to boil some water and pour it into a bag and you're done.

I was having a discussion with a buddy a few weeks ago about the advantages of some of the newer, more modern tools and pieces of gear you can get related to Overlanding. 

But the more we discussed, the more we also started to see a lot of downsides to the newer stuff. That made me think of the topic for this week's episode. What are some of the advantages and disadvantages of both the newest, highest tech gear vs. some of the more old school, mechanical types of gear.

In this week's episode, I recently returned from a 2 week long trip where we covered thousands of miles and it really made me think about the reason we do this thing called Overlanding.

It seems to me that there are two types of Overlanding. Experience based, where we focus more on having fun and finding new things and less about hitting certain points or achieving trail "completion" and then the Goal oriented version which is basically the opposite. Granted, you'll have experiences in both types and you'll get to explore and see lots of amazing things, but to me, it's more about the focus of your journey.

I've been seeing some more and more talk about payload when outfitting and setting up Overlanding builds. Honestly, this isn't a topic I've thought about a ton in the past as I always assumed that even with an RTT and drawer system, I wouldn't be anywhere near the max payload.

However, there's a lot to think about and a lot of factors that go into payload and how your vehicle carries it. So, in this episode of the podcast, I'm going to talk a bit about that to hopefully plant a seed with other newer Overlanders to think about this issue and to make good decisions.

In this week's episode of the podcast, I'm jumping into a somewhat controversial topic, which is EV's and Overlanding. If you've spent any time on Overlanding forums or Facebook groups, you've probably seen all the arguing and hate for and against electrical vehicles in Overlanding.

You may have seen the Rivian R1S that completed the Rubicon trail and all of the "Well, did it make it to a charger after the trail?" comments.

I personally think that the future of Overlanding is pretty exciting with the addition of these new technologies, but it may not be exactly what you're thinking.
