29 Aug 2021186: Taking Soulful Treatments Into The Digital Space with Maxine Rose of Soul to Skin Wellness00:42:22

The ever asked question ‘how do I get my contact services to translate into the digital world is one which therapists often struggle with, but not Maxine - she’s harnessed her soulful and sensory client support systems and in fact, has taken them to the next level with personalised prescriptions and virtual consultations.

The beauty of hindsight is that you’re able to take a look back on your life and career and with the knowledge you have now say ‘that was a great move’ or ‘gosh I wish I had done that differently. Maxine however, had the opposite - she had the beauty of foresight which lead her to shift her once in person service offering into the virtual space, prior to the pivot the pandemic set upon all of our businesses.

Maxine shares how she uses her unique ability to read a person and their face with us in todays conversation, as well as getting vulnerable about the rollercoaster of ones personal life that often throws that elusive work/life balance off track.

You can find more about Maxine and Soul to Skin Wellness over on their website or across their socials.

25 Oct 2020132: Culture, inclusion and diversity in Cosmetics with Tasneem Shahidullah Founder of Tasneem Cosmetics00:39:48

For many years Tasneem personally struggled with feeling the love when it came to makeup especially when finding the perfect lipstick shade, for some reason if you're 2 shades darker than "almond" you're going to face nightmare nudes and off-tone reds. Having had enough of being left out of the commercial beauty industry, Tasneem decided to create her very own custom lipsticks, with shades carefully crafted to suit not only her skin tone but also a variety of complexions!

Being a third-generation South Asian woman living in a Western society Tasneem wanted to foster a brand that acknowledges and celebrates her personal cultural background along with a multitude of backgrounds. For too long brands and society have happily utilised people or colour for their appearance/aesthetic but not given them a voice/identity or even considered them in the development process of creating their beauty products.

Tasneem’s personal cultural upbringing has defined the person she is today, from appearance, mindset, interaction, and character. So, she is making it a KEY focus for TASNEEM Cosmetics to unify Beauty, Culture, AND Colours!

Talking about the education we should be searching for to better show up for all cultures, the work that needs to be done from top down to represent every person that walks through our doors in our marketing campaigns and very generously sharing her own personal stories with the lack of inclusion she felt growing up.

You can find more about Tasneem and the range online or on Instagram

01 Jan 202085: Reconnection and rest with Rachel Evans of RE.Connection Project00:36:05

My guest today is Rachel Evans of RE.Connection Project. Rachel and I connected at a recent photoshoot for a Brisbane Women in Business Magazine where we chatted all things women in business, in particular, busy women in busy businesses - and I thought what better time to publish this episode than now when you’ve all had your most busy period and are hopefully spending a little rest and recharge over the Summer holidays and are refilling your cup. Rachel is an exercise physiologist, a keynote speaker and someone who so beautifully and simply talks about moving your body and mastering your mindset to focus on the calm and clarity which we so need to continue to run our businesses at the capacity which they’re required to run. The conversation takes us through looking internally at our bodies, the people who surround us and also the loneliness that can be associated with business. My cheeky cat tigerlily felt very passionate about rest and reconnection, and chimed in with a few meows here and there, so you can hear her opinion on the piece if you listen carefully. A life-long skin enthusiast, Renée Rouleau has dedicated 30+ years to the art of skin perfection.

From the very beginning as an esthetician herself starting out in a one-room hairdressing salon, Renée recognized that every person's skin is unique; however, she also noticed that the beauty industry mostly relied on a one-size-fits-all approach to skincare and that Product lines were traditionally catered to very generic categories of skin - dry, normal and oily.

With the spark of an idea and a whole lot of passion and purpose, Renée began formulating her own exclusive products based on not one but nine skin types to ensure her clients achieved the results they desired.

Using her practical knowledge from being hands-on,  her namesake product collection Renée Rouleau Skin Care easily navigates the skin’s needs by using ingredients and formulas that are innovative and effective to build the empire we know and love today.

Find out more about Renee's skincare range visit the website here, or take a look on the gram here @reneerouleauskincare

24 Feb 2019EP39: Injectables with Amy Wright of Eltham Cosmetic Clinic01:00:44

After much request, throughout today’s episode we are exploring the world of injectables. Our guest is Amy Wright, who you may know as Cosmetic Nurse Amy if you follow her on Instagram. Amy is a registered nurse whos career is one anyone can resonate with, but in particular our aspiring

nurses and injectors in the audience. Amy started her injecting career in Perth in a private clinic, in a traineeship studying under a nurse practitioner who had come from England to open her own clinic in Australia. From here, Amy travelled around injecting in various parts of the country including; Melbourne, Queensland and Sydney, to finally settle back in Melbourne where her family is and open her own practice in Eltham Victoria, aptly named, Eltham Cosmetic Clinic.

Amy stepped out of clinic in the middle of a busy day of injecting to shed insight into her work, dedication and the passion it takes to come out the other end of a nursing degree and become an injector.

You may hear some small bells during this recording as my little cat Tigerlilly, was being very needy the day we recorded this episode, so apologies in advance if that distracts from the conversation.

Talking injectables, From Eltham Cosmetic Clinic, today we welcome Amy Wright.

22 Dec 2020145: Self-care through at home luxury with Charmaine Blackburne from Cocoon Luxury Australia 00:39:46

For as long as she can remember, Charmaine has had a deep appreciation and love for luxury aesthetics, cosmetics, holistic health and wellness.
As a former classical ballet dancer, cosmetologist, fashion model and later turned businesswoman, Charmaine always had a persistent inner desire to create something truly special.

In 2017, Charmaine noticed a gap in the market -  wondering "why people were only focusing on their face and neglecting their body?"  From here the clear vision of Cocoon Luxury was born, one of which has taken Charmaine 2 years to bring to life, officially launching in December 2019, right before the world was about to hit the global pandemic.

Building a product range including anti-ageing polishes & balms, fragrant diffusers and even a Gua Sha board, Charmaine talks about Cocoon Luxury’s mission and what motivated her to fill the natural, yet luxury, gap in the market and of course shares with us why body care and self-care go hand in hand.

15 Mar 202089: Gay Wardle, Industry Icon00:38:25

If, like me you’re fangirling over Gay being on this episode, then you’ll need absolutely no introduction necessary, however I shall give you one anyway. Gay Wardle is a businesswoman, coach, mentor and an internationally recognised speaker and educator.

In 2015, Gay was awarded “Educator of the Year” at the Australian Beauty Industry Awards through her passion for “skin analysis” which she drives the agenda of both nationally and internationally. Through Gay’s dedication and commitment to learning and teaching others, Gay has established herself as one of the most respected icons in the “skin and beauty” industry. Her work as an educator and practitioner was celebrated in 2014 when she was inducted into both the ABIA Hall of Fame and the Reed Exhibition Hall of Fame.

If you have sat in one of gays Everything you need to know about skin classes, you’ll know Gay is anything but just a beauty therapist. She's intelligent, kind, humble and an absolute queen of the beehive behind  all things skin. Gay and I speak to the industry as a whole, the importance of education and sometimes lack thereof as well as looking at some of her mentors that have helped her journey along the way.

13 Oct 201973: Crystal clear leadership with Cass Barrie, CEO01:12:21

My guest today is easily the most colourful person i’ve had on the podcast to date in both literal colour with her fluro green hair and clothing, but also in language so this is a language warning, there’s a few naughty words on this one - so if you’re in the car with kiddies or playing this in a public space, you may want to save this one for a solo listen.

Cass Barrie, my guest today, is the owner of a multisite hairdresser space Diamond Cut and is also a Mindset and Empowerment coach at Be A Badass, who channels energy and works with crystals to create good vibes in customer servicing spaces and bring out leadership qualities in business owners.

I was lucky enough to have this conversation in person with cass in my home in queensland with the sun shining before she jetted off to canberra right after our recording and we couldn’t stop talking.

If you haven’t already noted the timing on this episode, it’s a biggie as cass and i go down the deep down the crystal and energy rabbit hole about leadership, team and self and  we accidently blew the audio out with our laughing so apologies in advance for that.I thought about cutting this episode in half and seeding it out across two mondays but i think you’ll want to listen to this conversation in its entirety, as that's just how captivating cass is.

23 Feb 202086: Melanie Gleeson, CEO endota spa00:46:32

Assuming many of you have visited an endota spa for a treatment before, Melanie almost needs no introduction. The endota spa story began in 2000 when Melanie Gleeson pursued her dream to give back and inspire others to connect with themselves. Their very first location being Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula paved the way for wellbeing to be considered a priority, rather than a treat.

Endota spa are now proud to be the largest day spa network in Australia with over 100 spas across the county, which employs an entire network of women (95% of their business is in fact female run) to help clients return to their best me through their signature touches, massage, spa treatments and divine facials.

Expanding their offering from treatments to training, Melanie shares with us the journey of the endota wellness college, which is an RTO that offers an evolved collection of creative courses and nationally recognised training in Beauty, Makeup, Massage and Business - as they continue to redefine, support and inspire the next generation of beauty therapists.

Many of you will also know that prior to the creation of Beaute, a big part of my career was spent travelling through endota spa from therapist to multisite manager and finally through to education and business development across Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. Reflecting back on my time at endota spa brings many fond memories, and for me, this conversation with Mel feels full circle - one of which I am extremely proud to be recording for you all.
