12 Apr 2024Secrets to Creating Passive Income as a PT00:31:02

Passive income isn’t work-free. This is working once and continuing to earn income on that effort.

Here are the 8 secrets to making passive income as a physical therapist.

1) Give Results in Advance

-Give value first to grow your audience. No one is going to buy from you if you don’t give results in advance. Build relationships. Build trust. Then your audience will buy from you.

2) Lead Flow

-Your lead flow starts with blocked, no flow. Then it moves to a trickle. That is followed by a drip. After that, you get a flow. At the very top, you have a flood. The truth is, there are really only 2 kinds. You either have enough leads or you don’t.

3) Value Ladder

-At the bottom rung, you have a free offer like a lead magnet. Then you move to a Low Barrier Offer (LBO), which is something low cost but high value. Then you move to a primary offer. This is a higher cost item like a plan of care. The top of your value ladder is a monthly recurring membership offer.

4) Proven Offer

-It can be free and paid, but it has to be proven to work. You can have an idea for something, but you need to know it works before you build it out. You need to know people actually want it.

5) Work Smarter, not harder

-Most who are struggling don’t have a favorable input to impact ratio. You have to get to a place where yo are leveraging a team and software to increase your impact without increasing our input. I can’t help more people if I’m stuck at a table working on people all day. That’s why I bought back my time with building the right team and software to expand my impact.

6) Evergreen Sales sequence

-Have an automated sequence that moves people along the path to becoming a patient or a client. You want them moving up the value ladder.

7) Email Marketing System

-You have to use email marketing. You just have to. That’s why we created the PT Email Engine for our CashPT Platinum Mastermind members and we’ve opened it up to everyone. It’s like buying a car and getting free gas for life. I’ve done all the setup for you. You just have to implement it with your email list.

8) Investing

-You need to start investing at the beginning, but there are different levels of investments. You can start by investing your time to set up a marketing sequence. That’s investing in yourself. You need to invest in your business BEFORE you worry about debt like your student loans. Then you can start investing in the stock market, crypto, and real estate. Real estate can build long-term wealth.

“If you’re not in the game, you’ll never win the game.”

22 Oct 2021Ep. 181 5 BIG Reasons You Need to Start Building Your Email List...Especially if You Want to Make Money00:21:48
1) Followers are not dollars

They’re not your followers, they belong to Facebook or Youtube or Instagram. An email list is what you own. Email allows you to add value in a way that you can’t do on social media. Email isn’t sleazy. That’s not what we do! We add value! An email list allows you to control the flow of information, something that isn’t possible with social media. You may post great and informative content, but only 30% of your followers may even see it.

I talk about this and more in my FREE download 35 Marketing Strategies. These are things no one is teaching you in school, the APTA isn’t teaching you. Theses are strategies that are PROVEN to work.

2) The fortune is in the follow up

Some people will do business right now, but most people need follow up. They need to build a relationship with you first. 70-80% of people aren’t ready to buy today, but they will in the next 2 years if you stay relevant to them. You can easily create a lead magnet, give it away for free, and grow your email list. The you can use something like the PT Email Engine™️, that triggers an automated email sequence as soon as they request it.

3) YOU own the email list

Your account can’t get shut down like it can on Instagram of Facebook. I've seen pelvic floor PTs have their accounts locked because they algorithm flagged their content as inappropriate.  My email list is twice as big as my IG followers and I can download it and take it with me anytime and anywhere. I have full control!

4) The Know, Love, & Trust Factor

It’s no longer good enough to know, like, and trust, they need to love you. You need to share and show up for them. You can’t do that on social media where you're competing with thousands of others. If you send an email every Monday, people will come to look forward to that email, if it has value. The right client will buy product they don’t even need because they love you. You should be making at least $1 per contact per month. We are making $10 per contact per month. It’s not your job to end the conversation. There’s always an unsubscribe button. They can make the choice to leave.

5) You can mint money anytime you want

If you’ve built your email list the right way, you can create an offer that people can’t refuse because you are giving them what they need and want. You can pitch them a product or service and people on your list will buy in. I have things of value that serve people. The best day to start building your email list is yesterday. The next best day is right now.

Just imagine if you have a list of 100 people and one person gives you $1000?

What if you have 10,000 people on your email list?

What if you can convert 10% to your program or offer?

Btw If you’re interested in having me write all your emails and set up your systems and processes to build a list and convert prospects to customers, just DM me the words “Email Engine” and I’ll send you more details

08 Sep 2023Should I go into business with a partner or spouse?00:20:23

Here some things to consider:

1) Do you both want to fill the same roles? Ie: both treat patients, both do the marketing, both be the visionary?

Or Are your strengths and interests complimentary?

2) Should to have a trial period and need an exit strategy if it doesn’t work or feel right.

Set expectations, have a “safe” word

Should have an operating agreement that deals with dissolution of the business, and depending on the laws of your state, your business may belong to your partner in marriage whether they work in the business or not.

Book recommendations if you do decide to run your business with a partner

29 Oct 2021EP. 182 Your Email List is the most Valuable Asset in Your Business: The CashPT Lunch Hour01:05:22

Your email list is the most valuable asset in your business, and it’s probably the most under appreciated.

I’m going to teach you how to create a business so valuable, that when you go to see it, the email list presents more than enough value. I’ve been hearing that email marketing is dead. That’s simply isn’t true. People who think that are only getting emails from people who don’t know how to do email marketing.

Conversion rates of your email list

When we talk about conversation rates of our email list, you should be making at least $1 per month per email. That’s the minimum. When I’m looking to buy a business, I don’t care about their accounts receivable, I car about their email list. I want to know how many names they hove, how they got them, and what the conversion rate is. Any charges associated with managing your list will be immediately offset with good conversion.

Followers aren’t dollars

We need to move away from the idea that coach media is the end all be all of modern marketing. Followers do not equal dollars. What if Instagram and Facebook go down for six hours like they did the other week? How are you going to communicate? If you have an email list, you get to control the flow of communication. Not the social media platforms.

Top 10 Ways to Build Your Email List
  1. Free Lead Magnet
  2. Run an in-person workshop and collect name, phone number, and email
  3. Webinars
  4. Free facebook group around the topic on the people you help
  5. Affiliate and Joint Venture partners
  6. Facebook Ads
  7. Google Ads
  8. Free training
  9. Podcast
  10. Raffle or Giveaway

The 3 DON’T DOs of Email marketing 39:08
  1. Don’t BCC our whole list from your gmail account
  2. Don’t use a free email account as your “send from” account
  3. Do not send to people who have not given explicit consent to receive your emails

Now, people are not only expecting you to do patient care but also to become a stellar manager while at it. So how can you properly do your managerial duties when you're too busy meeting patients? Meredith Castin of The Non-Clinical PT saw the struggles many physical therapists with positions face under these traditional growth pathways in PT. As the owner and founder of the #1 resource for physical, occupational, and speech therapy professionals launching non-clinical careers in healthcare, she shows us the way we can continue to thrive in our professions without actually treating patients. Meredith then talks about the burnout that comes with growing in the career, the problem with not getting more recognition and pay in the industry, and what she is doing to help people transition to non-clinical career paths.

26 Jan 2024Gain Leverage for your Physical Therapy Practice00:32:26

The short answer is having “leverage” means I’m able to use my time to magnify my income and results as well as others income and results.

If I have software and team members that save me time and generate more income and results than I can in my own, I have leverage.

Stop trading Time for Money with the leverage you build. Most people are stuck here, especially physical therapists. That’s the trap schools, insurance and even society want you to fall into.

Two ways to get our of the time for money trap

  1. Sell online -> it must be evergreen, not just 1:1
  2. Sell 1 to many
  3. Hire other people & leverage software to do the technical work and service delivery for you

You leverage your current income to build your future investment income

Leverage is power - power for good in your life and the lives of others.

15 Sep 2023I Can't Do it for You00:15:45

You can solve for the last person but you can’t do it for them

You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make him drink

There’s no man on a white horse coming to save you.

Hurt people hurt people and broken people are broken for a reason.

“I don’t fix broken birds.”

If you don’t succeed they are going to die in your hands anyway. If you do it’s just going to fly away.” - Andrew Tate

Solve for the last person.

Winners aspire to do better and make you better at the same time.

We’ve built a step by step blueprint to get to 6 figures and a road map and game plan to take your existing business to multiple 6 figures and 7.

I’ve been doing this since 2013 and after working with 1,000’s of clients, in that time have built a proven frame work

The 1 thing I can’t do for you is:

Decide to start and make your decisions

Take action & Do your work

I can’t drink the water for you.

I can’t fix your business for you.

We’ve solved the problem for the last person. You just have to be willing to help yourself.

The one thing I won’t do- is quit on you.

You’ll only be as success as your personal development and if you’re not working on yourself and making your self better, leveling up your mindset and growing, you’ll never grow your business to the level you expect or deserve.

Are you ready to get started?

09 Dec 2022Overcoming Your Biggest Challenges | Approaching 202300:39:55

How will you approach 2023?

You can’t save your way to wealth. It’s much easier to make another $1,000 than it is to save $1,000

How to overcome your biggest challenges and thrive in a recession

1) Acknowledge the problem

2) Make a Plan -prioritize your needs

3) Feel the hurt - Growth doesn’t happen in your comfort zone

4) Action Beats Anxiety -Prioritize and Do something Everyday

5) Just. Keep. Fucking. Going.

A recession is the biggest opportunity for your business

While everyone else is panicing and running around like a chicken with it’s head cut off, when you keep a cool head and demeanor you are positioned to make big plays,

What’s the biggest problem you solve?

If you can help people solve a big problem that others struggle to solve themselves or for your patients, wouldn’t you agree it’s your ethical obligation to help as many people as possible?

If yes, then the next step is making sure everyone knows about the solutions you offer and problems you solve.

Then it’s up to you to figure out a way to make more sales and get your product or service in the hands of even more people.

If you are passionate about patient care, hate being micromanaged, want freedom to practice and treat your patients the way you think is best, not insurance companies, and you want to build a 6 figure cash practice in the next 90 days and make 2023 your best year ever, you might be a great fit for our CashPT® Blueprint Case Study group that’s starting soon.

If you are interested in joining us, just comment below with the word “Case Study” and I’ll send you the details on the program and how you can join us.

This is for you if you’re thinking about launching or scaling your cash practice and are concerned about the economy.

02 Aug 2024Are your Prices “Expensive”?00:33:56

Our idea of what is expensive or what's affordable has been skewed by insurance companies. Starting a physical therapy practice or business is not expensive. It's not expensive if your goal is to help thousands or millions of people and you know what's possible.

It's been skewed by the fact that insurance companies are only going to pay $30 no matter what we do. What you really need to thing about is investing. If you aren’t getting long-term results or benefits from a job or program, then any price is expensive.

I hear a lot of people say they want to grow their business debt-free. Maybe in the past you've had bad experiences with credit cards probably because you haven't used them to invest in your business or yourself. You've used them to buy things that depreciate over time and you're still left paying for them.

07 Jan 2022Trends and Predictions for 202200:38:30
Are you curious about the trends and predictions for 2022 and how they will affect physical therapy? Here are the seven things I see that will impact how we will be doing business in the new year.
1) Alternative Streams of revenue.

You need to build multiple streams of revenue for yourself, even if you just have 1 or 2 waiting to be your next thing. What are the ways you can diversify your income? Maybe one of these things will be your focus later.

2) PT’s will be demanding higher salaries.

You’ll need to figure out a way to help your employees earn more, especially if you want to keep them as amazing employees. You also may need to figure out haw to pay yourself more! If you’re only charging $150 an hour, you’re going to have a hard time paying your employees what they’re worth, or even making a profit. You have to incentivize the position!

3) Facebook ads are harder and more expensive

This is why having a proven offer and solid email marketing follow up system is more important than ever. This needs to be in place BEFORE you run ads. And it’s only going to get harder and harder. Facebook is a moving target. What’s better than Facebook ads? The system that comes behind it. An automated email system is vital to eventually converting the leads that don’t initially convert. If you can’t follow up, you can’t convert.

4) More people than ever are getting sick

Not just with covid, and have metabolic disease. Patients think that they need an MRI, or surgery, or a medication to ever feel good again. And who is better to educate the public than a doctor of physical therapy. It’s not just fixing back pain, it’s fixing mindset.

5) Covid

This is the way it is and it will never be the way it was. Get over it. Start living and planning for what’s coming next. What’s your next move? People still need our help as physical therapists. If we’re not in the conversation, then we don’t matter.

6) Online businesses

More PT’s starting online businesses, not just cash practices. More people are starting to start businesses and making money online. We’ve had dozens and dozens of people come through our courses in the last quarter. Don’t wait! Start building a social media presence and a following now!  People come into it and get upset they don’t make $10,000 a month in the first year. Things take time to grow! But there’s no better time to start than now!

7) Inflation

You need to find a way to increase your income more than inflation. Sell an online course, teach a group class, do some coaching, ask for a raise. if you own a cash practice and you’re feeling it you are not charging enough already. You have to figure out how to leverage other people’s money to make more money.

Sales is the hard work. Most people rather market more instead of sell more. But you don’t need more marketing. You need to sell.

03 Mar 2023Stay in Your Zone of Genius with Megan Stinson00:42:42

On today’s episode, I talk with Dr. Megan Stinson PT, DPT, co-owner od Stinson & Voss physical therapy. For 8 years, she owned or managed a thriving, growing, insurance based outpatient multidisciplinary rehab practice in a rural community in East Tennessee. After selling that practice, she stepped away from outpatient for almost 3 full years, determined that there had to be a better way to treat clients and give them the care that they really needed outside of the constraints of the typical insurance driven medical model.

In 2021, Megan and Dr. Kaitlyn Voss, a former employee, opened a cash based, private physical therapy practice in the same small town. In August of 2022, they joined the Platinum Mastermind and have seen exponential growth in their reach to the community and are beginning to see the time, stability, and financial impact in their personal lives. She has worked for years at the state and national level on physical therapy legislative issues and an currently the Practice Chair for her state professional association. For years, she has worked diligently to improve client/patient access to care through different avenues.

Megan shares her wealth of experience in different models of physical therapy. You don’t want to miss this interview!

05 Apr 2024Homeschool Mom and Physical Therapist- Dr. Sarah Martinez00:46:44

Today, I speak with Dr. Sarah Martinez, a homeschooling mom of four, who also runs her cash-based practice out of her home. Sarah grew up loving sports and taught group fitness through high school and college. After physical therapy school, she worked for a big chain, and hated the hours and the patient load. She lasted six years before "retiring" and being a stay at home mom. She opened up her business a little over a year ago. She treats active adults in Houston, TX. The clients she mostly serves are women who enjoy pilates, yoga, and barre.

23 Aug 20244 Ways To Make 6 Figures As A PT00:47:05

Working as a physical therapist is undoubtedly one of the most under-appreciated professions in the medical field. But by fully embracing what it can deliver in the entrepreneurial sense, one can even start earning as much as six figures! Aaron LeBauer shares his Zoom conference with UMass Lowell DPT Club, where he talked about the complex yet rewarding process of starting to work under a certain employer and eventually evolving into a full-time entrepreneur. He also explains why no customer ever gives a lot of attention to medical titles, emphasizing the importance of always providing immediate care that truly works. Aaron also answers a couple of questions from the participants, discussing his own physical therapy business, as well as some practical and easy-to-apply strategies.

25 Nov 2022$6,000 with 1 email - The PT Email Engine™️ Black Friday Special00:29:39

Today, I’m going to give you an email to send that can make you $1,000 or more. The PT Email Engine™️ is a powerful tool, if you only just use it!

But before I go into detail about the Black Friday PT Email Engine™️ offer, I want to give you value first.

I’ll explain the one email you need to send non-patients and the email you need to send previous and existing patients.

A Pre-Loaded Marketing Account to Generate a Consistent Flow of New Patients Every Month (Even If You Don't Have the Time to Learn a New Software) for Only $1!!!

I don’t know about your specific situation however I do know that when I started my cash practice back in 2009 I struggled to get new patients using the traditional marketing strategies taught by the APTA, the Private Practice Section and used by traditional clinics.

Those just didn't’ work, are too expensive for a small business and when does it ever feel good sucking up to the “doctors” and asking for handouts?

That especially doesn't feel right when you are a doctor too? Why should you have to beg and grovel for patients?

I think we can both agree that PT school didn’t give you the tools to demand much more than $100K/year nor teach you the strategies to run a profitable physical therapy business.

And since you’ve been trained to be skeptical and do your research, as we all should be, and PT business owners come to me every week asking to learn how to get new patients fast and create a consistent flow of new patients, that as an ethical and honest bribe to help you radically grow your PT business, I want to give you my best marketing emails and forms and set you up with your very own PT Email Engine™️ marketing account for just $1 for the first 30 days.

We’ve been using these marketing strategies ourselves and teaching them to the top cash practice owners in the USA since 2013 to generate millions of dollars in revenue and helps 100's of 1,000’s of patients Get PT 1st. It's time you had them at your disposal too!

That’s your email list.

We’ll help you build a powerful email list. One that does all the work for you and is the most valuable asset you own.

Something that is so valuable that it becomes your best employee and helps you generate at least $10 per contact per month!

Where to get it... www.PTEmailEngine.com

10 Dec 2021Everything I Know About Business I Learned Racing Bicycles00:53:01

Maybe you don’t know this, but growing up I had a dream of racing in the Tour de France and winning bike races. Did I actually think I would make it tour the Tour de France? Maybe not, but I did know that I got a feeling racing bikes that I didn’t get from anything else. And I wanted to win.

Everything I know about business I learned racing bicycles. It helped me learn that investing in myself was the best investment I could make.

Got to Get Out of Your Comfort zone in order to grow

I went to Belgium to race bikes before I was necessarily ready to do so. Bike racing in Belgium is like baseball in America, or soccer in Brazil. It is THE sport. I may not have been good enough to win all of my races, but it gave me the opportunity to be around riders who were better than I was, push myself to improve, and experience life in a different country.

Must being around people better than you

I came back from that trip, raced in the USA and was able to dominate because of the habits I picked up from the better racers in Belgium. The same goes for business. Ingratiate with people who are ahead in the game, regardless of their fields, because there is always something you can learn.

Have to be Persistent

If you stop, you lose. If you’re not willing to do the hard stuff, then maybe you need a new goal. You have to do the things you don’t want to do and be willing to be uncomfortable.

Age is only a number

I was 26 when I started racing in Europe and was told I was too old to start. I can unequivocally say that you can do new things at any age. It might be more common for new grads to do it, but success comes at any age. Don’t let your age define you. You can learn anything, you just need the willingness to learn it. Time in the field doesn’t define your success either.

Success isn’t winning, it’s consistency

Success comes because you put in the work. Because you put in the consistency. You don’t have to get everything perfect, you just have to be consistent. I didn’t win every race, but I consistently placed well and got enough points to move up categories.

Time off is just as important as time under tension

As an entrepreneur, is more of a work life mix, but you still need to take actual time off. You are able to work harder in your business when you are well-rested. You have to set up your business in a way that it can run without you at times.

Information isn’t as important as implementation

I knew how to train, there was a lot of information.

Must invest and be willing to go into debt

Whoever is telling you to pay off your student loans as fast as possible, you need to stop listening to them. You need to stop focusing on debt and start thinking about how to leverage investments.

Need to work with a coach to reach the big leagues

I knew if I could find the right coach, I could improve. Once I did, I went to Category 1 quickly. He gave me a plan that included strategy and recovery. I was able to stop spending the mental energy on figuring out what I was going to do and focus on actually doing it.

Taking care of your body and nutrition is key to performance

If you focus on your goal, taking care of your body has to be in the forefront of your strategy. Optimizing your nutrition and your health can help you in optimizing your business goals. You can reach peak performance. As a physical therapist, you have to walk the walk.

Let’s do a contest

If you love the podcast and anything on the podcast has helped you grow your PT business Please Leave a 5 star rating and review and 1 person will win an 80% is good enough...

10 Nov 2023The Problem with Success00:44:11

The Problem with Success

$0-$10k/Month problems

$100K/month problems

Time - problems - your too buys

Good Problems

The Struggle - Life, business, family

Everyone is struggling with something - you just don’t know about it.

Success, privilege, health, relationships, belief, confidence, shame, fear, imposter syndrome,

Why don’t you want to get on social media?

What you see is only part of the story.

Use social media for your business, don’t let it use you.

Once you start generating cash, where do you invest your money?

Business Bottlenecks:

Team: People lol!

Systems: Do you even have replicable systems? Where are they breaking down and causing churn or erosion?

Vision for where you are going, beyond what you can see or that feels comfortable

Time - I know you can probably get there on your own. You’ve gotten this far. The question is, how much longer are you willing to wait and would you choose a different strategy if you knew it was guaranteed to get you there faster?

You: a seasoned entrepreneur knows they are their own worst enemy and bottleneck.

Good Ideas, Too many things to do - Need a Roadmap and specific Game Plan

Freedom Paradox - the more choices and freedom you have the more restricted you feel - this is where routine, rules/bumpers and a consistent plan help you navigate life

Reset: - sometimes life forces your hand and you have to reset your vision, mission, goals and path.

The real question is what are you going to do about your situation right now?

If you have a successful business, but are not completely satisfied with your revenue, growth, free time or like me are never satisfied and would like to brainstorm some ideas and build game plan together we might be a good fit to work together in our Platinum Mastermind or as a private coaching client.

I’d love to invite you to hop on a Free New Patient Strategy Call with me or someone on my team to see if we are a good fit to work together. Just go to www.CallwithAaron.com to book in your call

30 Sep 2022Make More Money with Online Courses00:20:38

The number one mistake people make is the build the online course before the sell it. This is how you make mistakes! Sell it first so you can give people what they ACTUALLY want.

Make more offers of your online course

That means as soon as someone opts it to something, give them the next logical step. The more offers you make the more opportunities people will have to purchase from you.

2. Show Proof

People want so see something works BEFORE they buy! Show testimonials. Show them how you have done it before.  People need to know it can be real for them.

3. Build Scarcity

Show people that your time or the product is limited. Don’t show manufactured scarcity, show them something is limited in order to get them off the fence.

4. Raise the price of your online course

It seems obvious, right? If you tell people about the price increase, you’re also creating a type of scarcity and can give people the incentive to get off the fence and take action.

5. Run The 5 Day Sales Sequence

This is a trend and true sequence I have personally used and many of my clients have used to talk about a bonus ending or a price increasing, but it tells people it’s time to buy.

6. Automate Your Offer

Once you have your proven offer, it’s time to make it evergreen. You can automate the process to make money while you’re not even working. We use the PT Email Engine for these automations. But you don’t want to automate it until you know it works.

7. Make it sustainable: Monthly Recurring Revenue

This is where the real magic happens. There are many ways to generate monthly recurring revenue, and the best way for someone else may not be the best way for you.

8. Hire a Coach

Working with different coaches has been the thing to accelerate my earnings the most. I didn’t get here by myself. I leveraged coaching to help me fast track my learning and growth. And that’s what you should be doing, too!

By the way I’m looking for 5 PTs who want to make 6- figures in their online businesses in the next year. Just DM me or comment below with the word “$100K” and I’ll send you the details.

01 Mar 2024Hitting Record Months in a Cash Practice00:29:47

Today, I’m going to share some of the changes and milestones in my business over the past few months. I know some people won’t be happy to hear this, because they think it isn’t possible for them. But really, it’s possible for anyone. So many of our mastermind members are hitting milestone months!

10 Mar 2023APTA's CSM Conference Review & Lessons00:27:42

I just finished up 3 days at APTA's CSM conference. I know more than a few of you thought it was a joke that I was here when I sent out an email last week about meeting up.

Well I've been teaching our Platinum Mastermind group the importance of doing in-person workshops, events and getting in front of their customers, and guess what? 14,000 of my potential customers are here.

Unfortunately, most of them don't know that cash practice is an option and many of them think it's fringe, no possible or even unethical. There were still sessions where people were talking about marketing to “doctors" and the session on "innovation" was empty.

Here's my rundown of what I learned and how CSM Compares to PT Biz Con especially for physical therapy business owners…

30 Dec 2022[REPLAY] Why I quit the APTA00:21:49

On today’s episode, I talk about why I quit the APTA. Did I just trigger you?

The APTA has actually done a lot of good for us. Without them, we wouldn’t ’ be where we are as a profession, because they are our ONLY unified voice for legislation! And I was a member for years, all the way up until 2020. Let me tell you why I decided not to renew my membership. When I was a member, I identified problems and offered solutions to do things better! But it always fell on deaf ears. No one would listen.

I’m not saying you shouldn’t be a member, and I’m not saying they’re bad! But it was no longer a fit for me.

If you find a problem but do nothing to fix it, then you’re just complaining.

The APTA is a big ship that takes a long time (too long) to change directions. There are people willing to stand up and help out, but there is a lack of feedback provided to those who DO offer their time and services to better the organization. After a certain point, it becomes obvious the your effects aren’t appreciated.

We shouldn’t be relying on referrals from physicians and the APTA doesn’t seem to be on board with that idea.

The final straw was the lack of guidelines and support when we were dealing with COVID. We had no advice on screening questions, how to pivot out businesses, how to utilize Telehealth. NOTHING!

This was a time to lead and the APTA dropped the ball.

I didn’t get he value from my membership in the APTA. That’s what it boils down to. If the value is there, regardless of what it is, you stay.

We talk about:

-the good the APTA has done

-where they’ve fallen short

-being open to new ideas

-falling short on feedback

-relying on physician referrals

-lack of transparency

-getting the value you expect

05 Jan 2024Reflections, Lessons, & Growth in 202300:32:13

As we come into the New Year, I want to share a reflection exercise I learned from my coach, Taki Moore. For me 2023, was a whirlwind, with a lot of change and adjustments, both in my business and personal life. There are four questions, and I’ll share my answers with you. But what I would love is to hear what yours are.

Here are the Four Reflection Questions:

-Pride and Gratitude- Write down the top three things from the last 12 months you are grateful for.

-Growth - What are the biggest challenges you’ve grown through and what are the lessons you learned?

-What unfinished business do you have?

-What are you top three aspirations for the new year?

08 Dec 2023Five Lessons in 50 Years00:24:25

I turned 50 years old this week! Honestly, I woke up feeling the same.

Age is just a number

Five years ago I set out to hit an “impossible goal” for my body and fitness. I wanted to pass the strong first kettlebell certification. The goal was to do 100 24 kilogram snatches in 5 minutes by the time I was 50.

5 things i’ve learned

  1. Have fun
  2. People are mean
  3. Explore the world and opportunities
  4. There is more than what most people expect
  5. Family is your foundation

Life is hard but lemonade is still sweet.

12 Nov 2021Ep. 184 Go Big or Go Make Ice Cream with Stephen Edelson00:44:50

Today we talk with Stephen Edelson, an entrepreneur that started an ice cream sandwich business from scratch. He’s a self-taught baker and ice cream maker. Steve tells us how and why he’s been successful dishing out homemade ice cream sandwiches to the local community mostly through social media and word of mouth.

Stephen and Aaron share how they tried to find their career paths while they were in college and how they both knew that more traditional paths wouldn’t work for them. During the height of the pandemic, Stephen’s wife challenged him to stop talking about starting his own business and actually take the leap and do it. He had been talking about starting an ice cream sandwich business for year, even registering the domain name, but he never took action on it. When he finally made the leap, he took the lessons he learned from his medical sales business to make his new business run more smoothly through delegation.

The ultimate goal for Smusht is for Stephen is to have something he enjoys that allows him to do good and give back. He aims for his ice cream sandwiches to become a retail success. He is open to finding fulfillment in whatever way it comes. Stephen talks about what scares and excites him about the potential growth of his business, something that all entrepreneurs can relate to!

This conversation is relevant to anyone who is taking risks and going for big things. You won’t want to miss it!

“The difference between business and entrepreneurship is being willing to take risks.”

Topics we cover:

-Stories from our days at Duke

-Getting a job out of college

-Taking risks

-The difference between business and entrepreneurship

-Growing a food-based business

-Being open to shifting goals

-Moving from catering to retail

-Being self-taught

-Gaining traction on social media
