Ladies and gents we have a new noteworthy Ruthless Era Bomb. I’m talking Kokane’s new single “All My Life”. Produced by the one and only legendary Rhythm D. This hit me out of nowhere! I’ve listened to it and folks, it’s straight up fire.

I wanted to take the time to talk about this collaboration. More notably is the return of Rhythm D!

Just when you thought, Hutch and Kokane go best together, we get this crazy ass jam! What it is though, is that all the Ruthless cats sound classic on a Rhythm D beat. It takes me back folks.

Listening to this makes mw just wonder what things would have been like if Ruthless Records stayed the course. Imagine Decades or Rhythm D music man. These guys are doing this like they never lost a beat. 

So what are we expecting now? Is Kokane dropping a new record and are we going to get Rhythm D beats? If it’s anything like this, we are in for a classic. So Kokane, get this guy on more tracks! This is what the West Coast needs. 

Rhythm D was arguably the man who defined the new Ruthless sound post Dre and he did not disappoint. 

People, what’s your favorite Rhythm D track? Real Muthuphukkin G’z? Down 4 My Thang off Bone’s Creepin on a Come up? Maybe his work on Real Brothas? Shock of the Hour? My top three favorite tracks from Too Short's "Get In Where You Fit In." This is a look back at a classic album.

This album brings that Death Row mystique and is considered by many the last G-Funk album from Death Row. The end of an era if you will, pre-2Pac. This is Tha Revisit of Tha Dogg Pound's "Dogg Food" Album. This came out in 1995 and I never bumped it straight through till now. Several tracks I've just heard for the first time. Let's check out the CD in a physical reveal, talk about the units sold and any other interesting facts.

In 2003 Ja Rule drops "Blood In My Eye" The ultimate response record. Going back to his gangsta rap roots, he brings in the little homies from Murder Inc and the Outlaw's Hussein Fatal! We get into the physci of Ja from every angle track to track and in the end grade the record.

In 2005 this record dropped under the radar. Death Row was running on fumes but still managed to drop what I consider to be one of the dopest Kurupt projects. What adds to the strangeness of this album, are the missing tracks that made it to "Down and Dirty", the missing Petey Pablo track and then the tracks that were straight up cut for good. Including "No Vaseline 2". It's all a crazy piece of gangsta rap history and Death Row. I'll give my thoughts on every track on this record. I'll share a few snippets even. After we look at the physical CD then in the end we'll grade the album. Join me as I dive right in to the deep end on Kurupt's "Against The Grain".

On this Re-Up it’s MC REN’s “Kizz My Black Azz” on deck. The album dropped in 1992 with production by Bobcat and the late DJ Train. It was a Ruthless gem and MC Ren at his most raw. A young Ren is what many rappers grew up on. Heck I grew up on it! Lorenzo is a generational gift aint he?

How did this record fall through the cracks all these years? Even for me, a decent MC EIHT fan? 1996 was a hell of a year for gangsta rap, you know if you was there! This record came out September 12, 2020. I remember when it came out and there were T-shirts, posters and vinyls to get. Today? The record is nowhere to be found. It's a rare physical buy. I was hyped. I listened to the record from front to back like I always do when Bizzy drops. Soaking in every word and beat. However...

I walked away unimpressed. 

In 2024, I decided to listen to it with a more understanding ear. (Or with a reviewer perspective) Let's try to put aside what I want to hear from Bizzy and enjoy what Bizzy is today.

Let's revisit Mack 10's 2nd record (Based on a True Story). This record is a 9.5 outta 10 no doubt. No skips here and even the skits are interesting. Did you bump this record back in the day? Let's dive in revisit this dope record from 1997. Mack 10 has kind of been forgotten since his fallout with Ice Cube. That's too bad no doubt. But take nothing away from Dedrick D'Mon Rolison. He's dope AF on this record and a legend on the West Coast. You could say he carried the West on his back while it was dying in the late 90's. Let's check out this record though!
