05 Nov 2023 | SCP Classic – Justice League (2017) | 01:40:34
For the next two months, I’m taking a break from the show to catch up on recordings and get some work done on my comic book project. So I’m giving you a glimpse into the past with SCP Classic, featuring replays of past episodes influenced by recent releases. The Flash featured what is likely the final performances by one of the best and worst casting picks in the DCEU—Ben Affleck and Ezra Miller. So because of its ties to this film, listen to when Derrick and I talked about the Joss Whedon cut of Justice League. Anthony Desiato of the Digging For Kryptonite podcast is the guest in this episode to discuss the much-maligned Spider-Man 3. Though it's got definite issues, both he and Perry have found aspects of it that turned out better than expected in retrospect. Kelen "B-Hyphen" Conley returns for another double feature. And this time out, we're looking back on the Tim Story Fantastic Four films that introduced Chris Evans to most Marvel fans. Michael Brace of the Reel Media Network is this week's guest to discuss 1996's The Crow: City of Angels. Although originally intended to be a very different movie from its predecessor, producers forced changes to make it as similar as possible. We talk about the production headaches, what the film was supposed to be, what parts of it still work despite the changes, and the fact that this was the final film starring Power Rangers' Thuy Trang. 14 Nov 2021 | Mystery Men | 01:24:05
What if there was a superhero parody before superhero movies were big enough to be parodied? Well, that's exactly what happened in 1999 with Mystery Men. Despite having pretty big comedic names like Ben Stiller, Janeane Garofalo, and Hank Azaria attached, it's a movie that's probably not remembered by most. Michael Hale of the KMP Podcast is the guest this week to discuss this forgotten but interesting episode in superhero cinema.

15 Feb 2021 | Steel | 01:47:32
Yeah, you read that right. We're actually watching Steel, the 1997 film that makes Batman & Robin seem like The Dark Knight. And it's every bit as bad as we remember. From how Shaq is the least intimidating guy in this movie, to the floppy rubber suit, and the most stereotypical black kid ever, all of it will feel our wrath.

08 Mar 2021 | Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice | 01:56:18
With the Snyder Cut release upon us, we look back at the Ultimate Edition of Batman v Superman and find it's still pretty much as terrible as the theatrical cut. From everyone in this movie being a total asshole to the plot holes and the head-scratchingly bizarre portrayal of Lex Luthor, the only real bright spots are Ben Affleck, Jeremy Irons, and Gal Gadot.

01 Feb 2023 | BHM Replay – Black Panther | 01:52:02
For Black History Month, we usually spotlight black superhero movies, but I didn't do as well planning for this year. So instead, I've decided to give you two episodes a week. Throughout February, you'll hear a new episode as well as Black History Month Replay, when I spotlight a few of my personal episodes we've recorded on black superheroes. The first replay is Black Panther, which was one of our earliest episodes and one of the greatest black superhero movies ever, if not THE best. So enjoy this trip down memory lane or experience it for the first time. Want to tell us what you think? Have any questions or comments for Perry about superheroes in media or comics? Nelson, romance author and host of The Nerdy Romantics Podcast, is the guest this week to talk about some of our favorite superhero romances, some of the tropes of romance in superhero stories—both the good and the bad—and how these compare to other, non-superhero romance stories. 29 Oct 2023 | SCP Classic – Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse | 01:49:47
For the next two months, I’m taking a break from the show to catch up on recordings and get some work done on my comic book project. So I’m giving you a glimpse into the past with SCP Classic, featuring replays of past episodes influenced by recent releases. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse was the long-anticipated sequel to Into the Spider-Verse. Both have been heralded and praised as two of the best Spidey films (if not the best). So let's look back when Derrick and I discussed Into the Spider-Verse. PARAGONS OF EARTH is a comic book project I’m developing with Thomas Deja and Eric Johns. 20 Dec 2021 | The Phantom | 01:14:15
Before the superhero cinema boom, there was a smaller trend in the 90s of translating pulp characters into film and TV. This week, Perry is joined by pulp author John Bruening to discuss The Phantom, a kind of bridge character between the pulps and superheroes. The movie's not as bad as you may have heard, but it's not without its flaws.

22 Feb 2023 | BHM Replay – Watchmen (HBO) | 06:09:04

01 Mar 2021 | Batman Ninja | 01:18:38
Batman Ninja is an anime take on the Dark Knight in feudal Japan and it was met with near-universal acclaim. We did not feel the same. While there were things we liked about the movie, ultimately it felt like a lot of poor storytelling by people who have never read a Batman comic matched with some pretty visuals.

This week, we're stretching the definition of a superhero movie a bit, but it's based on a DC/Vertigo comic book, so we're going to allow it. Ariel Ortiz of the Undercast Company podcast network makes her debut on the show to talk about The Losers, featuring many future MCU alums like Chris Evans, Zoe Saldana, and Idris Elba. 02 Nov 2020 | Brightburn | 01:35:22
Just a little after Halloween, we've got a horror-themed superhero movie for you to check out. What if Superman wasn't a wholesome farmboy but instead a twisted little bastard? That's the concept behind Brightburn, the movie we discuss. We gush over Elizabeth Banks, talk about the way this movie blends the horror and superhero genres together, and pontificate on why we don't see more horror-themed superhero movies.
