This is an intimate and vulnerable episode you don't want to miss. I take you through the interpersonal workings of my brain and body through a fear response, melancholy and the Exact, step by step, in real time, emotional  process I used on a plane flying to Mexico.

This is the 6th step out of 10, and probably THE MOST CRUCIAL to practice and master.

Go slow and do what feels safe.
In the Stop Drinking and Start Living Program you will have access to multiple versions of this process to see what lands with you and your body.
I will also take you 1:1 through the process in real time.
Knowing something conceptually vs. true embodiment is a game changer.

Everyone comes to this practice with a different set of trauma's.
It is important to validate your body for protecting you and closing the gap between the ego and sources, little by little,  until you feel safe enough to surrender.
Quantum healing is using your senses and imagination to really FEEL into the emotion and do a lot of deep integration and healing in a short amount of time.

Step by step process for processing an urge/emotion: (this happens in your head or out loud)
You can incorporate essential oils into this practice for even better results.
1) Become aware your mind is looping and the urge is growing because of it. Take note of the space around you and you in the space. Just become aware.
2) Take several deep breaths and say: Come in to the body. Just breath and make space. Use the exhale breath through the mouth through out, as needed to keep emptying heat and making space.
3) Locate the place of the urge in the body. Name it.
4) Discribe how it FEELS, the sensations.
5) Give it an identity with the senses. (what is the shape, color, texture, feel, smell, taste, sound?)
6) If this urge or emotion had a message for you, what would it say?
7) From the place of the compassionate witness, respond to that message.
8) keep responding to the YOU who is having the urge with words of love, kindness, compassion, understanding. (I see you, I hear you, I am not going anywhere, keep breathing.)
9) Bring in white golden light, or an element to dissolve the urge.
10) Use the inhale breath like a sponge to dissolve the urge. Use the exhale breath to dissipate and transmute the energy.
11) Keep spreading the golden white light or element of your choice ( go with what naturally comes to you) though out your entire body.
12) Let the light/element move past your skin and 6 feet in all directions until you are completely absorbed by this light.
13) Imagine the emotion of peace, freedom, unconditional love.
14) Bring in an image, see your self experiencing that vibration.
15) Keep breathing and rest here until it feels like it's time to come back to your environment.

Remember what you love and you will remember who you are.
Make a list of all of the things little to big you have ever loved since you were a baby until now.
Look at how they make you feel and how many of them will have nothing to do with alcohol.
There's all the evidence you need that a life LOVED is a life you already KNOW, you just need to keep practicing.

Today we are talking all about generating evidence to the contrary of the beliefs that support alcohol, but not in your outer world, in your life. Evidence you already have because it's you are amazing and other things are more important to you than alcohol. The more evidence you have that you DON'T require alcohol, the less desire and attachment you will have.

1) Look at what you love and why?
2) What are your NON_negotiables around alcohol? Where won't you drink? Dig deep to find that core VALUE and apply that reason to the areas where it seems impossible.
3) Out of these "trigger" categories, find evidence where you use to drink and don't any more. Or how you solve the problem already without alcohol. Recognize your inner strength to know you can apply this to other areas.
Write it down and make a list.
4) Remind yourself often of how amazing you are!

Types Of Triggers:
Habitual: regular drinking that is second nature.
Coping : As a tool for "processing"/suppressing emotion.
Situational: "Special occasion" drinking.
Nastolgia: Fond memories you experience through the senses.
Nihilism/Self Sabotage: "Screw it." Not in alignment w/ higher self.
Trauma/Life Events: Something you haven't yet experienced.

What's the next step?
We know where we want to go, just one foot in front of the other.

The energy of emotions fueling your decision has a bigger impact on the result than the decision itself.  We make decisions for two reasons: to move towards pain or away from pleasure. This is why it is challenging to change your relationship to alcohol because it does both of those things at the same time.

What we water grows.
Where you place your attention, energy flows.
Today we grow awareness around the place in your mind where you are making decisions from. Love and abundance or fear and scarcity.

It's a powerful facet to awaken to that will have a huge impact on how your move through circumstances you would have drank in in the past. This is how you want to set yourself up for success to plan ahead of time so the mind you bring with you is one of POSSIBILITY vs. PRACTICALITY.

This is how you get new results.

Learning takes time to get you from where you are to where you want to go

vs. jumping around from one thing to the next because it "didn't work."

Get ready to be inspired! My fun and inspirational client, Amanda started her journey with a year of curiosity listening to the podcast.

Things started shifting for her when she realized there was in fact a new and maybe desirable way to drink less, forever.

Once she gave herself permission to dive into the coaching, it was the SPARK that ignited her passions for life.

The work she did around alcohol was really the door the spiritual deep dive she was longing for in all areas of her life, to align with her true values and bigger purpose.

She very intentionally, day by day, grew her emotional awareness that had been on the back burner, and hidden by alcohol.

She also realized a lot of the reasons she was drinking, weren't actually true for her anymore, she just needed to ask WHY?

"I think it's two things really, first of all, alcohol was taking up a lot of space in my in my head and it's not that I was you know, constantly craving it by any means it was just I was always negotiating with myself or trying to set rules or thinking about when I was going to be drinking or not drinking or you know, just it took up way too much space and energy in my brain. And then the other shift has really been a flow of creativity that as I have gotten alcohol out of my life I just really feel very open and more spiritual and just I feel a lot of things flowing through me right now. So those have been really big shifts and just that I think really it started with that just clearing it out of my out of my head and not having it be so like present and taking up so much of my energy I think that really just opened up so much space for so many other things to flow through."

You don’t need to be excited about sobriety.

Getting good at not drinking is about how you TALK TO yourself, no matter what decisions you make.

You don’t need a morning routine to quit drinking.

You don’t need to ADD anything to your day. 

You don’t need to meditate more, exercise more, journal more.

These things create positive impact, but they aren’t necessary.

The conflicting beliefs about alcohol are confusing and EXHAUSTING.
 Something you once loved, is revealing its self as no longer useful.
The gap between being a drinker and no longer wanting to, is getting bigger and the conversation is getting louder.
 The narrative says if. you can’t hang, you're broken.
 So where do you turn?
 How can something that is causing you pain be something you still want?
 And the answer and solution you seek doesn’t appear to exist yet in the current narrative.
Until now.
 I know the way out and it works.

 It’s turning what feels like a BOULDER in your life, into a PEBBLE,
 and it can happen quickly with the right tools and support.

 It’s simply a shift in perspective.

 To shift from conflict to clarity.
 From pain to ease.
 From shame to confidence.
 It’s simple and it’s free.

Not because it really is.

There will be new emotions that are uncomfortable and unfamiliar, but you've done WAY harder.

It's the perception that it's BIGGER than a drink.

That it's BIGGER than you.

As soon as you stop making it about the alcohol, and make it about YOU.

Everything shifts.

You have everything you need to make a change, right now.
More time and more information is SLOWING you down.
It's keeping you stuck in INACTION.

Alcohol as a catalyst for connection only ever allows you to go as deep as your thoughts that you need alcohol to connect will allow you.

Is alcohol creating more connection or just inhibiting your thoughts that stop you from going deeper? 

When we interrupt our limiting thoughts by dissociating vs. examining them, we never give ourselves a chance to move past them.
We condition our behavior and settle for the status quo.

What ultimately creates a strong connection or relationship? Is it bypassing vulnerably and discomfort.
Do you even have to start there or can you feel ease with connection skills you already have?

In today's podcast ep. #147, we explore how your Judgements and Conclusions are blocking the path to get alcohol out of your way.

Our judgments and conclusions about life are important to keep us safe, but if left unexamined, "safety", turns into a comfort zone we fear leaving. 

When we are learning something new, especially outside of the mainstream, we have to empty our minds of what we have learned and what we think we know to be true about alcohol. 

We have to dump it all out and the table and sift throught it.
Find some cute earrings and throw out the empty wrappers. 

Our snap judgements and conclusions keep us stuck in fear based thoughts, not trying new things and not giving ourselves a chance to see how much more fulfilling life will be without alcohol.

Unexamined judgements and conclusions in other areas, also create uncomfortable emotions that may be a trigger for drinking if you dwell in them for too long. 

We often seek to be RIGHT, VS, UNDERSTAND. 

Even when we suffer for it. 

When we are right, we are safe. It protects our interest (belifes) and our ego.

What would happen if you were able to empty your mind to see alcohol and life again, for the first time (but with wisdom)?
Seek to understand what you blame yourself for? The world for?
What you aren't willing to give up about alcohol and why?

Goals and Intentions both lead to taking an action in the present moment for a future result.

When you make drinking a tangible goal, based on numbers and rules, you aren’t getting to the root of the problem:
your beliefs system for alcohol.
then
When the GOAL is to drink less, you use more will power because you are staying on the surface.

When the intention is to live a healthier life, for example,  now we are getting closer to your WHY.

This is the ENERGY that will drive the change, indefinitely. 

As long as your beliefs remain the same, so too will your attachment and desires. 

Alcohol will always be around. 
You don’t have to make any hard and fast rules, you want to lead with your heart and the WHY you want to drink less, and then go deeper.

> For my health, but WHY?

> I want to live a long life. Why?

> So I can experience as much as possible. WHY? 

> Because there are so many amazing things to see and do with this human body. 

Now we are REALLY getting somewhere! 

Feel the difference from: I just want to have "one and done", to There are so many amazing things to see and do with this human body? 

It has SUBSTNACE. It has EMOTION. EMOTIONS are why you do ANYTHING. 

EMOTIONS are WHY it's hard for you to drink LESS.

One of the reasons many people feel out of control with alcohol is they think drinking "just happens." Part of this is true. 
Alcohol has become as habitual as brushing your teeth, not to mention the extra large influence the chemical of alcohol has on conditioning your behavior to want more.
However, drinking is always a choice. The question is WHY and how to take back control where there seems to be none.

One of the most destructive thoughts keeping you stuck in the rut of alcohol is the dreaded FOREVER.
Forever feels scary for most things, especially when you have felt so out of control. However, when you reduce your desire and attachment to alcohol, alcohol will ALWAYS be a choice, but you won't be making the daily decision to drink.
The truth is, it's not a useful thought when you are trying to create lasting change.

Hear me when I tell you, emotional freedom from alcohol IS possible for you.
Today I share how I started waking up to my potential, when I put myself in a new room.
On my way to the Goddess Yoga Arts Retreat, with a bottle of tequila in my bag...
Focusing on becoming the solution vs. fixing the problem is the real shift in perspective.

It can only happen when you "put yourself in the room."

When you show up to build evidence against the thought: that a life without alcohol will be a life of deprivation.

Giving yourself a chance to AWAKEN parts of you that you haven't yet met, only happens when you trigger it through a new circumstance.

New circumstances create the opportunity for new emotions, new thinking and ultimately new ways of being.

And challenge our conditioned belifes.

Not all "triggers" are bad.

Coaching, sister circles, intentional family adventures, yoga, moon rituals, prayer, are all how I create what I call,  "spiritual triggers".

Our brains don't go that way unless prompted, naturally.

They stick to the negative bias. To the achievement. To the problem of "not enough".

So we have to intentionally place ourselves in new situations to invoke new ways of being, until they become the new norm.

I wanted to share about my journey of putting myself in the room to trigger the most sacred parts of me that were hiding behind alcohol in plain sight.

You don't need to do anything special to deserve everything you want.

You can just decide, I'm worth it.

We resist  " the things we can not change" about our relationship with alcohol, because we think it's US, when in fact, it's the alcohol.
Accepting the reality the alcohol is no longer suited for the life I want to live, is the first step in resisting change.

If a break is only to "figure alcohol out" then it's never going to work.
If a break is to let go of your attachment to is so you can discover who you are, then you'll have plenty to focus on.

I have determined there is ONE belief that fuels our entire mindset in the western world about alcohol. 

It’s so powerful that is has you trying to solve all of your problems and create fun with alcohol. 

It has you overriding your own intuition. 

Shaming yourself for not figuring it out. 

Negotiating rules with yourself to keep alcohol around for even, just one drink. 

It has you making yourself sick. 

Fighting with your partner. 

Waking you up at 3 am.

Creating problems where there are none. 

Putting thoughts in other peoples head about what they think about you. 

Not doing your best at work. 

Quitting on yourself, again and again. 

Most importantly, it has you forgetting who you are, what matters most and what you are capable of.

This ONE belief is so powerful, that even AA put it into their big blue book.

They use it to help people quit drinking. 

It is actually the belief that keeps so many who do stop drinking in deprivation.

In my experience, it’s the ONE belief that is the FARTHEST from the truth. 

But this ONE belief is not a FACT, it’s a thought.

Today to celebrate the beginning of year four for the podcast and to share my thoughts on aligning with the future version of yourself that is free from alcohol.

As we celebrate this milestone, I want to take a moment to reflect on the journey so far and to thank you for being a part of this amazing community. I am proud of what we have accomplished and I am grateful for the lives that have been changed through this podcast.

My intention for being here is to help you get curious about what it would look like if you spent more time aligning with the future version of yourself that wants alcohol out of the way, that is ready for relief and freedom. I want to encourage you to listen to previous episodes and think about the wise and intuitive part of yourself that already knows what it feels like to be alcohol-free.

I know that there may be some resistance and fear when it comes to giving up alcohol, but I want to remind you that you are already free. The real part of you that is maturing and growing does not want alcohol anymore. However, there may be habits and thoughts that need to change in order for you to fully step into this new reality.

In today's podcast episode, #211,  I discussed why confidence is a trigger for alcohol consumption and how it manifests in both short-term and long-term ways.

For example, a few days after a nasty hangover, you start to feel AMAZING in comparison. Your body has started to come back into balance. But rather than recognize this is because I'm NOT drinking. Your body and mind has associated natural pleasure with alcohol for so long, it thinks, I FEEL good, so it MUST be time for a drink 

However, when we apply the 5 shifts process to this moment of confidence, it can lead to understanding more about your real needs are. 

I also highlight the importance of being self-aware when it comes to the confidence trigger, and exploring the root cause of why one might feel confident in drinking again after an extended time away.

Through exploring this trigger, you can build new neural pathways and learn to meet their needs in a healthier and more fulfilling way.

  • Understanding the confidence trigger is important in managing alcohol
  • The confidence trigger can show up in short-term and long-term ways
  • The moment of confidence is a moment of question and needs to be explored.
  • People need to understand how they got to the place of confidence in the first place

The hidden costs of alcohol are often where many of your unmet needs live that make you want to drink more, keeping you stuck in a vicious problem/solution cycle.

The good news is, when you actually, start to uncover and meet your needs that appear as problems, the desire for alcohol goes away, AND, Mom's a happy camper. (we all know everyone wins!)

It's totally okay to take sometime on a Friday night for yourself to rest or go for a walk, rather than have a 'party of one", just so you can be home, only to postpone the guilt of not being with the family to the next day because you had a few too many.

These costs affect every area of your life.  Because of the amazing humans we are, our ability to adapt creates a new norm and the impact has become normalized, unrecognized and therefore unexamined.

You are sick of waking up with regret. 

You want to feel good about yourself. 
You want the day to feel like an adventure, not a dull half existence. 

There is a spiral of shame and judgment for not being able to quit drinking, for drinking , for not being able to control it. The list goes on. 

So you start NEW things, add new routines, more actions and information to your already stressful mind.

How many unopened courses are in your inbox? (we've all been there)

But you take your overwhelmed mind with you and quit those too.  Your resentful of your husband who can have one and leave it, so you eat cookies and that makes you feel like shit, so why not have a drink and say screw it. 

The cycle begins again.

Be kind to yourself no matter what. Offer yourself compassion for being human and crushing it everyday. 

You must learn to you meet the needs of emotions so you don’t have to rely on alcohol to do that for you.

It's invalidating and numbing them. 

You can start small. Use the words you would to someone you love. Start with something neutral.  Humans have emotions. Emotions create sensations in the body. This is normal.

You can’t even fathom it. 


It doesn’t make sense.
