07 Feb 2022 | Episode 23 :: The Internet's Saturn Return | 00:59:44
I'm joined by my husband Andrei in this episode for a lively discussion on the Internet's Saturn Return. While there were many technological precedents leading up to it, this date is often cited as the birth of the Internet as we know it. Berners-Lee wanted to create a vast hyperlinked global network that would allow for the swift exchange of scientific research. It has united the global village with oftentimes miraculous and equally disastrous consequences. It is responsible for how you send and receive information—whether it’s text message, social media, or streaming video. Nearly everything you think or say is mediated in some measure by something you read or heard online. You will explore the many dimensions of this transit through a synthesis of astrological lore, historical analysis and media theory. You will learn how this transit has historically been associated with breakthroughs in propaganda, mass media and digital technology... ...and you will walk away with a set of tools to work with through this transit that will help you deprogram yourself from the spell of mass media mind control that you've been under your entire life. 29 Mar 2022 | Episode 25: Tamra Lucid | 02:00:49
Tamra Lucid is a force of nature: a veritable renaissance woman of the 21st Century. She has been a prolific artist for decades, sharing her light with the world through music, underground art, filmmaking and writing. It is obvious that Tamra was born to be a bright light in the dark. But she got her start on this path by having a great mentor in her youth: the legendary esoteric scholar, Manly P. Hall. What must it have been like to be mentored by Manly P. Hall? Lucky for us, Tamra has finally published her memoirs called: Making the Ordinary Extraordinary: My Seven Years in Occult Los Angeles with Manly Palmer Hall. Tamra’s story is extraordinary. In the haze of her nihilistic youth back in the early 1980’s, she serendipitously met the elderly Manly P. Hall. And with an age difference of over 60 years, he became like a surrogate grandfather offering her the love, guidance and sanctuary she needed. Making the Ordinary Extraordinary: My Seven Years in Occult Los Angeles with Manly Palmer Hall exquisitely captures the last moments in history before the internet swallowed reality. Sitting at this precipice between eras stands the great historical figure of Manly P. Hall, still studying and lecturing at his library as he had for many decades. Back in the 1920’s and 30’s, Manly P. Hall rose to become the rockstar celebrity of the esoteric world. His legend has lived on, meaning there’s been nearly a century of praise and accolades for his accomplishments as a scholar. Conversely, there are many rumors and conspiracies that abound. Sadly, such extreme praise and suspicion tends to overshadow the human. I’ve been deeply enamored with the legend of Manly P. Hall for many years. Until I read Tamra’s book, he always seemed far away, like the light of a distant star. However, Tamra’s tender account of their deep friendship brought his spirit to life for me. The “Mr. Hall” described in this book is so personable, so funny and so tragic that you’ll truly fall in love with him. Even if you’ve never heard of Manly P. Hall, I still recommend that you read this book because it will be a magnificent introduction to appreciating his historical significance. And it is a really pleasurable read: sensual prose guided by a romantic spirit to stir your soul with a montage of vivid memories. You fall in love with all the characters as you span time together. And by the end, you’ll feel like you were there to witness all the bliss and the horror of the 1980’s L.A. occult scene. Suffice it to say, the whole story is tragi-comic, just like real life. In this episode, I speak with Tamra about her life, her art, and the experience of writing this book during the pandemic. And we deepen the exploration of Manly P. Hall’s amazing life and tragic death by looking at his natal chart together. By examining his placements, including his three planets in Pisces, we find more context for the traits he expressed publicly and those that he kept hidden. Not only that, but we dive into the transits that occurred during the last days of his life, speculating about whether the suspicious circumstances of his death were in fact murder. 04 May 2022 | Episode 26: John Michael Greer | 01:39:17
John Michael Greer is an American druid who has risen to become one of the most important esoteric scholars of our time. He is astonishingly prolific, having written over 70 books that explore a wide array of perspectives on ecological philosophy. JMG demonstrates the virtues of a truly independent mind, offering a syncretic perspective that explores the overlap between ecology, spirituality, and the future of industrial society. Though he’s written many books on occultism, politics, and economics, I believe that his latest book, The Twilight of Pluto, is the most important astrology book published in over a decade. In The Twilight of Pluto, JMG offers something totally unique in terms of historical perspective, critique, and predictions for the future. The rich juices of astrology have been fermented into a fine wine, opening the senses to divine the shape of the world that is emerging from beneath Pluto’s shadow. This book offers original insight and unique analysis of the time we are living in, which JMG describes as being the end of the Plutonian-era. (1900-2036) The Twilight of Pluto is first and foremost a history book, blossoming through an astrological lens to illuminate the evolution of human consciousness from the ancient world to the present Plutonian-era. You may imagine that diving into Pluto’s influence over the last century might make for some very grim reading. But instead, this book is a page turning pleasure to read. JMG takes you on an adventure through time, fighting monstrous tragedy and absurdity with glinting humor and acerbic cultural critique. Even if you don’t typically read astrology books, know that your interests in history, cultural criticism or ecological thought will be deeply nourished by The Twilight of Pluto. And if you are a student of astrology, The Twilight of Pluto is required reading. This is a mind-altering book that will expand your imagination of the cosmos forever. The Twilight of Pluto represents an evolutionary leap in the astrological conversation. That’s why it was such an honor to have the opportunity to interview JMG. And of course, in addition to being a great writer, he’s also a wonderful conversationalist. We touch on everything in The Twilight of Pluto and go off on many tangents including:

25 May 2022 | 27. Chaweon Koo | 01:42:55
Chaweon Koo is a dream come true for me. That’s because my main objective as an astrologer is to inspire artists to believe in themselves and come into full bloom. And Chaweon has bloomed into something spectacular! Here’s the quick history we have. Five years ago, Chaweon came to me for a natal chart reading. And I told her that she would be a huge success if she started putting out videos on witchcraft! I remember seeing how recognition would come naturally because of how well she would be able to connect with her audience through the screen. Since then, she’s made it look easy to amass a huge following on Youtube and TikTok. And she’s established herself as a totally original voice in the world of magic and witchcraft. During her reading, I also remember looking ahead into the spring of 2022 (when Saturn would begin transiting her Midheaven) and knowing that she would be doing something BIG around this time! And I was so right. In spring of 2022, Chaweon reached a new level of success by publishing an AMAZING new book called Spellbound: A New Witch’s Guide to Crafting the Future. This book is totally unique. There’s never been an introduction to magic that reaches into the soul the way Spellbound does. That’s because it isn’t just a text. It's an illuminated manuscript, so lushly woven with art that it almost seems to breathe while you read. Opening the pages of Spellbound is like falling into a river of beauty that takes you on a winding journey into the heart of what magic is truly about: timeless imagination. It is an exquisite introduction to magic for any beginner student, opening with a poetic initiation and offering a unique interpretation of all the fundamentals from elements to alchemy. And because there’s nothing basic about this book, it also serves as a mind-altering inspiration for any advanced student. What has always made Chaweon so popular is that she breathes new life into magic. She knows how to lighten up dense and obscure topics with her spirit of humor, glamour and fun! And Spellbound is no exception. This book represents a breakthrough in the magical conversation and I know its influence will be felt for many decades to come. Born in Korea but raised in America, Chaweon occupies a liminal cultural space, giving her the power to synthesize Eastern and Western perspectives and imagine the future of art, culture and magic without clinging to stereotypes. And this is one of the reasons why I was so excited to interview Chaweon again. We always have trippy conversations that span time and space. We were both so honored to be woven into the pages of this book. 30 Dec 2022 | 28. Marlene Seven Bremner | 00:58:10
Marlene “Seven” Bremner is a visionary artist and alchemist. And her new book with Inner Traditions, Hermetic Philosophy and Creative Alchemy, should be on the top of every esoteric student’s reading list. In recent decades, the subject of alchemy has been enjoying a renaissance in esoteric publishing. There are dozens of well researched and beautifully written books on the mystical and philosophical path of alchemy. But Hermetic Philosophy and Creative Alchemy is a unique contribution, an illuminated manuscript for the 21st Century that teaches as much through the power of image as it does through words. Alchemy is one of the ancient Hermetic arts, sister of astrology. And in alchemy, the planets represent the architecture of inner space, describing the various stages of the creative process. The Cross Rose in the Garden of Venus (Oil on canvas, 2016) Seven’s journey into alchemy combines tremendous intellectual depth and artistic spirit. From a scholarly perspective, this book is exquisitely written and intricately researched, densely woven with many ancient threads of esoteric tradition, symbol and myth. But it is her visionary art that really makes the alchemical journey come alive. In this interview, I learned that Seven was born with many visionary gifts, highlighted in her natal chart by a triple conjunction between the Sun, Jupiter, and Neptune in Sagittarius. As such, I wasn’t surprised to learn that her strikingly original style of writing and painting is all self-taught. And this book is the result of more than 20 years of her esoteric and creative explorations. Hermetic Philosophy and Creative Alchemy takes you on a deep journey into planetary influences and alchemical principles. Through Seven’s eyes, new symbolic connections will emerge to expand the breadth and depth of your esoteric language. Students of Hermeticism will love her flourishing prose and fresh perspectives on traditional concepts. And artists will be inspired to explore their own creative potential with the timeless knowledge of alchemy. Alchemy cultivates your imagination and invites you to explore the vastness of inner space. And in these Aquarian times, alchemy is essential knowledge. Aquarius values human sovereignty, autonomy, and freedom of imagination as a means of healing the world. As Seven says: “We can really tap into the power of imagination, not just for personal manifestation of the things that we want to have, but to hold a beautiful vision for the world. Instead of focusing on all the negative things, just focus on the dreams of what we do want, what we do want to see and make space and time in our imaginative contemplations for positive visions of what could be.”

11 May 2023 | Episode 29: Ronnie Pontiac | 02:31:52
Ronnie Pontiac is an accomplished artist, musician, filmmaker and esoteric scholar. I would describe him as a 21st-Century renaissance man, not just because of his diverse talents and interests but because of his significant role in the re-birth of the mysteries and esoteric wisdom in popular culture. And after many decades of research, he’s just recently published his magnum opus American Metaphysical Religion: Esoteric & Mystical Traditions of the New World. American metaphysical religion is explored as a diverse ecology of ideas and traditions that have blended into something unique. Some of it is recognizable in the mythos of the American Dream. You see glimpses in the philosophy of American exceptionalism. And in the nearly maniacal optimism of the American spirit. But there’s more to American Metaphysical Religion and this book expands in every direction, becoming a kaleidoscopic genealogy of mysteries and magic. This book traces 500 years of lineages working their way into the roots of American spirituality. The unique syncretism of Indigenous, European, African and Asian influences has been the subject of many studies on art and music. But this dilates upon the reality that art and music are the flowers that blossom from a deeper network of spiritual roots. In the melting pot of America, a unique metaphysical religion has developed beneath all the dominant narratives and dogmas that have tried to suppress it. In this interview with Ronnie, he describes how “American metaphysical religion” is an academic term that is trying to point at something ineffable, mysterious and omnipresent that underlies official science and religion. Ronnie is a quiet and thoughtful person to speak with. And our conversation unfolded for over 2 hours, where we discussed…

29 Aug 2023 | Episode 30 ~ Questions about Fate & Freewill w/ Lori Lothian of Lunatic Astrology | 01:19:09
"A part of fate is the freedom of man. Forever wells up the impulse of choosing and acting in his soul."- Ralph Waldo Emerson Lori Lothian of Lunatic Astrology is my favorite Youtube astrologer! Her voice is a flourishing expression of the natural syncretism of the Information Age. Rising above the deluge of witless love horoscopes, prophecies of doom and tedious scene politics, Lori brings a refreshing style of densely researched but accessible forecasts. Her mind oscillates at a rapid frequency: intertwining the frayed edges of esoteric astrology, like the outer asteroids, with classical traditions. And she makes it all seem so easy breezy, fluttering from far out ideas into arcane techniques with effortless effort. She works tirelessly creating videos. But she’s motivated to share her knowledge because she believes: “Astrology can be very useful for preparing the way for difficult circumstances as well as anticipating and leaning into hope for positive circumstances.” Lori’s a very predictive astrologer, finely tuned and confident in her ability to help clients prepare and anticipate. Over the years, she’s realized that fate does seem to play a significant factor in human life. The age-old question of fate versus freewill brings up so many questions. And this is exactly what Lori and I decided to tackle in this interview. As our conversation unfolds, we discuss:

01 Sep 2023 | Episode 31: The Hermetic Marriage of Art and Alchemy w/ Marlene Seven Bremner | 01:11:41
The visionary artist and esoteric scholar, Marlene Seven Bremner has returned to discuss her second book: The Hermetic Marriage of Art and Alchemy: Imagination, Creativity, and the Great Work. The Hermetic Marriage is an exploration of imagination through magic and art, uncovering how the ancient alchemical symbols of planets and metals reveal the nature of the creative process. Reading The Hermetic Marriage is a pleasure, led by the light of eternal beauty and a taste for poetic genius. Seven’s rich imagination avoids any academic dryness or inaccessibility because her history is alive, tapping into the immortal spirit of the artists that have left an indelible mark upon the world. And her research is densely woven, going deep enough into the heart of the subject matter to satisfy any scholar. Quintessence of a Day’s Dream, oil on panel, 2021 Illuminated by her breathtaking paintings, Seven travels through time in search of the eternal spark that artists have always sought to capture in their words, images, and songs. She demonstrates how artists are alchemists: great explorers of the invisible realms and scientists of spirit. Alchemy fell into disrepute at the dawn of the Enlightenment in the late 17th century. This began a very dark age, starved for mystery and devoid of spirit and soul. Alchemy was reduced to chemistry. And nature itself was reduced to a world of dead matter. Beneath the shadow of the Enlightenment, artists began taking corrective actions, guided by the light of imagination to restore the knowledge of spirit and soul. Beginning with Romanticism and concluding with Surrealism, Seven explores the greater alchemical process that was at work in the evolution of these artistic movements. And these centuries old discoveries of imagination continue to inspire the greater alchemical process that’s healing the spiritual maladies in the 21st Century. In this interview, Seven and I discuss:

10 Sep 2023 | Episode 32 - Writing as Alchemy w/ Tony Dushane | 01:53:16
32I met Tony Dushane a couple years ago when he enrolled in my class on creative alchemy. It was inspired by the idea that artists are alchemists: explorers of the invisible realms and spiritual healers. And like alchemy, the power of art transforms and transmutes. As I got to know Tony, I learned how his life-story is a beautiful demonstration of art as alchemy. Tony was raised as a Jehovah's Witness, an apocalyptic Christian sect that most people describe as a cult. For the first 20+ years of his life, Tony was a true believer: pained by the urgency of the last days, knocking on doors, and living in an ideological echo chamber. But by the time I met Tony, he was an avid student of magic, astrology and alchemy. And he’d experienced a rare level of success as a writer, publishing a novel based on his life called Confessions of a Teenage Jesus Jerk. His book captured the attention of the actor/director Eric Stoltz, who turned it into a movie. Through the art of writing, Tony’s life story was submitted to the alchemical process: heartbreak and tragedy uplifted into comedic and romantic nostalgia. And the film was the final transmutation. I wanted to interview Tony because I was so curious about what it was like growing up as a Jehovah’s Witness, why he left that world behind and how he became an artist. In our interview, we discuss… * How his friend’s suicide triggered his ideological awakening * How the public library was a sanctuary that “literally saved his life” * Creative writing as a “conversation with the ancients” * Needing therapy after leaving the church * What it was like making a movie with Eric Stoltz * His astrology chart, how the planets reveal his artistic gifts * His current relationship with the Bible and the teachings of Christ * AI and corporate greed as the enemy of art * Why writers should never be afraid to write “shitty first drafts” * And why he teaches a free writing class at the Los Feliz Public library

26 Oct 2023 | Episode 33: The Magic of the Orphic Hymns with Ronnie Pontiac | 01:52:20
In this episode, the esoteric scholar Ronnie Pontiac returns to talk about his latest book: The Magic of the Orphic Hymns: A New Translation for the Modern Mystic. Co-authored by Tamra Lucid, his wife, this brilliant collaboration takes the reader on a winding journey through history, striking a perfect balance between dense scholarship and poetic musing. And they conclude with their own renditions of the hymns, beautifully distilled with poetic skill and the finesse of musicians. Reading this book feels like uncorking a dusty bottle of ancient spirits. The history is allowed to breathe, inviting you to swirl things around and develop your own taste for the mysteries of Orpheus. Tamra and Ronnie present the Orphic Hymns as being much more than beautiful relics. The hymns are magical, invoking the past as the eternal present and inspiring a prismatic vision of the divine. Many decades of research and experiments inspired The Magic of the Orphic Hymns. In their early 20’s, Tamra and Ronnie were mentored by the legendary, Manly P. Hall. And when they were asked to help him with a republication of the Orphic Hymns, they fell in love with these ancient rituals. In this interview, Ronnie and I discuss:

05 May 2020 | Episode 05 // The Alchemical Marriage with Andrei Burke | 01:29:11
In this special episode, my husband Andrei and I talk about how we’ve used magic and alchemy to cultivate resilience and creativity during hard times. And we share how personal tragedy became the inspiration to write our highly acclaimed class, SPIRITUALIZED: a journey into magical consciousness. The purpose of spiritual alchemy is to transform your consciousness, refining and reshaping the interior world in order to discover a new vision of the exterior world. As the sister science of astrology and magic, alchemy completes the holy trinity of applied Hermetic philosophy. Alchemy is not just a hashtag, or the practice of a medieval charlatan, or the primitive work of pre-scientific minds. It is timeless wisdom and offers a poetic worldview that experiences life as a lucid dream. It is a way to commune with one’s soul and breathe upon the divine spark within until it erupts into flames. It is a path of healing that finds a use for everything in nature, including life’s sorrows and difficulties. In alchemy, all your failures, wounds, and weaknesses become the soil for your growth and eventual bloom. The heart of alchemical wisdom is often woven into common sense. It can be found in what Andrei said at the beginning of the episode, “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” And you probably also know the saying, what doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger. That journey of becoming stronger is an alchemical one. Yes, life is full of sorrows and obstacles. Everyone on earth is traumatized and wounded. But when we get stuck, feeling buried, suffocated or lost, alchemy becomes a devotional practice that reveals the hidden gold inside every leaden experience. The practice of spiritual alchemy offers a clear path of transformation, a dedicated process of work that invites the seven planets to become your teachers and guides, lifting you from darkness into light. Alchemy is a mythic, symbolic, and spiritual study of creation, revealing your true nature as a Divine Child of Heaven and Earth. It is a living art and science, evolving as we evolve, transforming to meet needs of every age. If you’d like to become a 21st Century alchemist, I invite you to register for the next round of SPIRITUALIZED: a journey into magical consciousness. This is an 8-week course, offering a totally original blend of classical wisdom and modern perspective. Every lesson includes ritual work, journaling and a recorded meditation. Anyone who submits to the process will experience tremendous CHANGE and powerful realizations by the end of the 8 lessons. Considering how much this kind of work is needed right now, I have made SPIRITUALIZED super accessible and affordable so that anyone who wants to learn this process can do so. 11 May 2020 | Episode 06 // Planets in Fall with Gray Crawford | 01:32:55
Welcome back to another episode of STARGAZER: a podcast about astrology, alchemy and magic. I have been an avid reader of his work for many years. But at the end of 2019, I was feeling the pile up of planets in Capricorn really heavily. I became super depressed and totally at a loss to write about the ingress of Jupiter into Capricorn. This is Jupiter in its place of fall, well known to bring about a time of depression, austerity and deprivation. But I found inspiration in Gray Crawford’s article on the subject, where he associated Jupiter’s transit through Capricorn as being the return of Pan, the ancient Greek god of the wilderness. Pan symbolizes the awesome power of nature’s fertility as well as the trembling fear of the wild unknown. As someone with a natal placement of Jupiter in Capricorn, I resonated with this chthonian imagery. I’ve always loved the archetype of Pan. I have read all the original myths and later discovered that Pan’s famous seven-reed flute was correlated to the seven planets. Pan as the spirit of nature plays this flute, symbolizing how nature makes use of the music of the spheres to enact changes in the world of matter. After the lockdown began in March, I realized that Gray’s assessment of Jupiter in Capricorn as being evocative of Pan had really hit the nail on the head. Pan had returned in the form of widespread panic and pandemonium. I was very happy when Gray agreed to talk to me during this time. We had a nice conversation about how we began studying astrology and the hidden value of planets in their signs of fall. If you would like to learn more about Gray’s work, please visit www.graycrawford.net where you can read his articles and stay informed about his upcoming classes and events. 25 May 2020 | Episode 07, Pt. 1 of 2 // The Evolution of Astrology with Frederick Woodruff | 01:10:03
Welcome back to another episode of STARGAZER. It is no secret that an astrological renaissance has exploded in the last decade, inviting anyone and everyone to add to a global conversation. And while this is liberating and exciting in many ways, the quantity of astrological information has not increased the quality of knowledge. And this is why I was so excited when Frederick agreed to come on the show. Consider this. I’ve only been a professional astrologer for 5 years. And Frederick has been an astrologer for 40 years. Anyone who is interested in the art of astrology will benefit greatly from hearing someone with so much wisdom and experience in the field. As a gateway to mythic intelligence and the cyclical nature of time, astrology opens you up to paradigm-shifting and mind-expanding experiences. But finding quality writing can be challenging. If it is not delivered through saccharin and redundant jargon, then much astrology drags way too far into fatalism. Frederick’s work does neither of these things. Like a true astrologer should be, he is not disassociating from or denying the world. He remains a keen observer, with eyes wide open to the way things are. But he uses his symbolic awareness and his cutting edge wit to offer useful cultural critique and some much needed humor. In this episode, Frederick sits down with my husband Andrei and I to have a congenial and free flowing conversation. If you would like to check out Frederick Woodruff’s work, please visit his website https://www.astroinquiry.com/. I highly recommend his books. If you want a thought-provoking and insightful collection of astrological essays, check out Skywriter: Notes on Modern Astrology which is available for digital download. I’ve read this book many times over the years. And I also recommend his book Secrets of a Telephone Psychic, which totally pulled me out a melancholic episode last winter. It is a pop-art memoir that details his awkward experience as a telephone psychic back in the late ‘90s. It's so fun to read, like a page-turning gossip column interwoven with gleaming threads of humor and wisdom. Secrets of a Telephone Psychic lures you in with the promise of a freak show but ends up feeding a much more primal appetite for the mysteries. Enjoy! 27 May 2020 | Episode 07, Pt. 2 of 2 // Astrology in the Information Age with Frederick Woodruff | 01:09:17
Welcome back to another episode of STARGAZER: a podcast about astrology, alchemy & magic. In the first part, we had covered a lot of ground, discussing some of the qualities of both traditional and modern astrology. We mused about how certain styles of astrological interpretation are limiting and fatalistic by nature. Drawing from personal experiences, we reflected on what it is like to be on the receiving of a particularly negative or fatalistic forecast. Finally, Frederick asked Andrei and I what we thought about the quality of astrology on the internet. And that’s where we come back in... 01 Jun 2020 | Episode 08 // Power of the Wild Feminine with Danielle Dulsky | 01:05:55
The best part about having a podcast is that I can speak with authors and artists that I admire. I recently read a really wonderful book called Seasons of Moon and Flame: The Wild Dreamer's Epic Journey of Becoming by Danielle Dulsky. It was a soulful and poetic feast for the imagination! As a creative writer and magic teacher myself, I felt a deep kinship with where Danielle was coming from. And I was super excited that Danielle agreed to come on my podcast for a chat. Danielle Dulsky calls herself a wild dreamer. And after speaking with her, I whole-heartedly agree. As a consummate Aquarius, Danielle is full of the wisdom of the wilderness. In this interview, we discuss her some of natal chart, illuminating how her Aquarian nature makes her a voice crying from the wilderness. We also muse upon cyclical time and the value of living in rhythm with natural cycles: Moons, seasons, and aeons alike. Danielle believes that words are spells. And that stories are medicine. She believes in the power of the wild feminine, reconnecting to ancestors, and an intimate relationship with nature. In her own words, she translates the wild feminine into magick, storytelling, motherhood, multimedia art, and teachings of embodied spirituality. If you’d like to learn more about Danielle’s work, you can visit her website www.danielledulsky.com. There you can check out all her books or enroll in the Hag School, a learning community for mystics, flame-tenders, heathens, and wild-hearts. Enjoy. 14 Jun 2020 | Episode 09 // History, Myth, and Magic with Paul Weston | 01:16:02
My guest for this episode is the unique historian, Paul Weston, whose keen interest in myth, mystical experience and history has blossomed into a prolific writing career as an independent scholar. In this interview, we talk about his latest book, History and Myth: Boris Johnson. Henry VIII. Extinction Rebellion, Plague, & the Return of the Middle Ages. In this book, he examines the cultural evolution that has followed Saturn/Pluto conjunctions in Capricorn, a phenomenon that occurred in 2020, in 1518 and in 1284. By examining history through this mythic and metaphysical lens, Paul identifies threads of familiar themes in the 13th, 16th, and 21st Centuries, which seem to become revolutionary moments, characterized by an End Times fervor and uprisings against the ruling class. What I loved about this book is that it uses a cyclical lens of time, both astrological and mythological, to examine the chaotic conditions of the 21st century. I’ll end this introduction with a quote from the book where Paul says, “I feel that in making use of unconventional ways of looking at history, particularly the idea of cycles, and in seeing the presence of powerful mythology in modern secular movements, we might be able to gain insights on the mysteries of the likes of Boris Johnson and Brexit and also the remarkable Extinction Rebellion movement. These are tumultuous times.” If you would like to learn more about his work as an author, lecturer and Glastonbury tour guide, you can visit his website at http://www.paulwestonglastonbury.com. 09 Jul 2020 | Episode 10 // Astrological Roundtable with Michael Lutin & Frederick Woodruff | 01:14:52
Welcome back to another episode of STARGAZER: a podcast about astrology, alchemy and magic. That’s what just recently happened to me. Now you may remember the interview that my husband Andrei and I did with the amazing astrologer, Frederick Woodruff. Following that interview, I was informed that Michael Lutin had heard the episode and wanted to come on STARGAZER to have a talk with Frederick, Andrei and I! This was a stroke of good luck because if you’ve been into astrology for awhile, then you’ll know Michael Lutin as one of the OG astrologers of our day. But for those that don’t, Michael Lutin was the astrology columnist for Vanity Fair for over 25 years. He’s also published several astrology books and has been a guest speaker all over the world at many prominent seminars and universities. In the vast ocean of astrological work, Lutin’s voice is totally original. He has a profound historical, psychological and philosophical perspective in his writing but remains attuned to the currents of popular culture. He plays the role of an urbane intellectual, having lived in New York and Paris for decades. But he has an unerring sense of humor throughout his work that always demonstrates his intention to inspire personal and cultural healing. In his words he says: “I believe that deep down all people have a core of brilliant, shining, thrilling, blissful health, natural instinct and confidence. Around that core is all too often found a crust of defense and doubt, formed over the years...I believe my job is to help people break through that crust of defense and doubt to liberate their shining core and restore confidence in their own natural, healthy instincts to follow their own fulfilling path.” As you can imagine, it was a great pleasure to sit down and talk to Frederick and Michael. Getting to hang out with them was such a trip! I hope you enjoy… Thank you so much for listening to this interview with Frederick Woodruff and Michael Lutin. If the energies of Capricorn are going to dominate everything this year, it was nice to get to talk with with my astrology elders and learn something new about the work I have devoted myself to. It was socially uplifting, educational and has given me a lot to reflect upon as I allow myself to mature in this field. I have recommended Frederick Woodruff’s work before and I will once again encourage you all to check out his website at astroinquiry.com. Frederick’s astrological writing is always on pointe. And for those who would like to follow Michael Lutin, you can find him at https://michaellutin.com/ And if you are interested in reading about the United States’ Pluto Return, Michael’s book on the subject is the best writing on the matter that I have found. 12 Aug 2020 | Episode 12 // Mercury Magic & the Origins of Aeolian Heart | 01:07:31
Hello Stargazer, I'm pleased to share with you the season finale of STARGAZER: a podcast about astrology, alchemy & magic. In this episode, I reminisce with my husband on the origins of Aeolian Heart—and what it's taken to get us this far. Did you know that this month is the *official* 5 year anniversary of Aeolian Heart Astrology? Time really has a way of catching up with us. To be perfectly honest, the last five years of growing my own creative enterprise has been the most humbling and intense learning experience in my life. 14 Aug 2020 | Episode 13 // Business Alchemy with Psychic Stitch | 01:13:07
Welcome to the first episode of the second season of STARGAZER, a podcast about astrology, alchemy, and magic. This begins a series of interviews with magical and creative entrepreneurs who have courageously forged a path for themselves, finding unique ways to share their gifts with the world. This series is timed to coincide with the upcoming transit of Mercury through Virgo, which is the astrological influence that I used to launch my creative business five years ago! If you want to learn about how I used the transit of Mercury in Virgo to launch and support the growth of Aeolian Heart, be sure to sign up for August 19th event, ELEMENTAL: Business Alchemy with Mercury in Virgo. Those who are a part of this Renaissance work because they have a passion, not merely for material acquisition. They work to find freedom for their creative spirit and in the way they use their time. And they work because it gives them purpose, creating vital connection and community. My first guests are the perfect embodiment of the 21st Century Renaissance that is blossoming. Beatrice Kalmar and Meredith Allen run a business called Psychic Stitch, a high-art embroidery business dedicated to up-cycling and customizing clothes to create one-of-a-kind wearable art. They are such beautiful women, old souls with loving hands who are completely inspired by their work to make clothes truly meaningful again. Since they live right here in Los Angeles, I went to their studio to chat with them and record our conversation. Beatrice and Meredith are great artists, painters with thread. They can reproduce any image or style from the past. But they also create their own original effervescent psychedelic tapestries which are a worthy contribution to the ancient art of embroidery. Amidst the rainbow of threads, the antique embroidery machines, and the works of art in progress, I felt like I was in another time and place. A time when people did not take so much for granted and had more reverence for the hours, labor and skill that go into creating any kind of clothing. In this conversation, we talk about how Psychic Stitch got started and what inspired its beginnings. We also talk about the major issues caused by the mass-produced corporate fashion industry, which is obscenely wasteful, environmentally hazardous, and shamelessly employs slave labor. As an answer to this, Psychic Stitch seeks to make clothing precious again, by enchanting them with a story and purpose. This honors the people who made these clothes and the people who own them now. With conscience and art, clothes become imbued with love. This philosophy is a great departure from the values that have spawned so much spiritual and economic crisis in the world. Whether you love fashion or not, clothes are an expression of who you are: what your values are, what your trade is, and what your aesthetics are. It blows my mind to think of how awful it is to clothe ourselves in the products of slave labor. Not only do I mourn for the people in the sweatshops, but it is terrible how much we struggle and compete to be able to afford these loveless products. The whole experience is born from pain and injustice. And it fosters no appreciation for what we own. I believe that most humans don’t really want to live like this anymore. And the Information Age is inviting a massive paradigm shift. Artisans with a vision, like the women at Psychic Stitch, are making small but important steps towards creating another way to live. I loved talking to Beatrice and Meredith so much. I learned a LOT from them and I hope yo Support the show at https://www.patreon.com/aeolianheart
02 Sep 2020 | Episode 17 // Business Alchemy with Mithras Candle | 01:12:19
Welcome to the final episode of my ELEMENTAL series of interviews with small business owners that I absolutely love! Throughout this season, I have learned that when a person is doing work that matters to them, it is never just about making money. Work becomes passion, service and meaning in life. My guest today is Benjamin Warfield from Philadelphia, who is one half of an amazing company called Mithras Candle. Both scientist and mystic, Benjamin’s work represents a beautiful harmony between matter and magic, drawing from the wisdom of the past to create a healthier future. I’ve observed that our society spends a lot of time concerned with the quality of our food. The GMO debate has lots of momentum. And we certainly spend a lot of time measuring the quality of our air and water. Pollution is something that environmental movements adamantly oppose. But how often do you hear a dialogue about the quality of light? The term light pollution exists, but it refers to our inability to see stars in the night sky. Though this is terrible, the dimness of stars does not confront how the quality of light can negatively influence biology and behavior. I have always felt strongly that light should be like the Sun: healing, warm and radiant. How many millenniums have human beings lived by firelight? Fire itself is like a small seed from the heart of the Sun, offering its light and heat to support so much life and transformation. In more recent history, incandescent electric bulbs blurred the boundaries between day and night forever, but their glow still attempted to approximate the warmth of fire and the Sun. Incandescent light differs greatly from the cold and unfeeling fluorescent light used in most major stores, schools and offices. And the even more recent emergence of LED lights has ruined the warm glow of so many homes. I’ve been waiting a long time to commiserate with someone who can appreciate my sensitivity to the quality of light. And that’s why I’m so glad I found Benjamin, because he has made the quality of light into a scientific study for over 15 years, studying its effects on our bodies, moods, and rhythms. In our conversation, Benjamin shares what he learned during his time working for a university level research program that was devoted to understanding the biological effects of light. Their discoveries inspired him to return to the magic of candlelight, a luminosity that physiologically invites you to calm down and relax at night. The science makes it clear that artificial lights can aggravate and disrupt your circadian rhythms. But candlelight illuminates, soothes and relaxes. The magic of Mithras Candle comes from the undeniably beauty of candlelight and from the evocation of a very ancient deity. You may have heard of Mithras, because his name has never fully faded away. History places the origins of Mithras in ancient Persia, but the cult of Mithras spread far and wide throughout ancient Europe and Asia, eventually blossoming into three centuries of devotion in Rome. In the ancient Mithras cults, he was often called the Lord of Heavenly Light. Some viewed him as the genius of fire while others identified him with the light of the Sun. Thus, evoking Mithras has an ancient resonance with the magic and mystery of light, as both a physical phenomena and as a symbol of spiritual revelation. 14 Feb 2021 | Episode 18 // Fairytale Romance: Raw, Vulnerable, Uncut | 01:17:27
We're back with the season debut of STARGAZER: a podcast about astrology, alchemy & magic! In this special Valentine's Day episode, I'm joined by my husband Andrei and I to tell the raw, vulnerable and uncut story of our fairytale romance. Andrei and I have been together for nearly half of our lives, and our story is one of deep trauma, alchemical healing and divine love. We dedicated our Valentine's Day breakfast discussion to how we helped each other transform into the grown-ups we are today through a shared dark night of the soul. It's like a fairytale romance and a hero's journey all in one. Descending to the pits of hell to rescue your beloved and rising to new heights through love, devotion and self-sacrifice. We also talk about how important art, astrology and magic have been on our healing journey, discussing in depth Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's The Magic Flute as a fairytale initiation into the mysteries of the alchemical marriage and Tantric love... ...as well as our shared love for the films of Alfred Hitchcock. It's been a long, strange trip and I am filled with eternal love and gratitude that Andrei has been my companion for the journey. 19 Feb 2021 | Episode 19 // Fairytale Dystopia: Blade Runner & the Saturn-Uranus Square | 01:16:37
Welcome back to STARGAZER: a podcast about astrology, alchemy & magic. In this episode, I'm joined again by my husband and co-host Andrei to carry on our discussion from last week about the esoteric meaning behind fairytales by exploring the gnostic dimensions of the dystopian science fiction classic Blade Runner. In the first half, we share our thoughts on the ongoing square between Saturn in Aquarius and Uranus in Taurus, reflecting on how it has made a feel on an individual level and what it means for the collective in the context of the recent $GME short squeeze and the Great Reset. The second half is dedicated to an analysis of the film Blade Runner and its source material, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick. We discuss how its globalist and technocratic aspects make it a perfect film to contemplate for the Aquarian Age and how it shows, through a fairytale-like morality, the virtue of being human in an inhuman world. I also draw comparisons between Blade Runner and stories like The Little Mermaid and Pinocchio, and we look at its relationship to the Romantic-era through the lens of William Blake, Mary Shelley and Uranus in Taurus. This was a great discussion, and certain an episode you don't want to miss! *** If you like what you hear and want to be part of a community of like-minded mystical hearts and magical freaks where you can join monthly magic rituals with Andrei and me, then you should join my Patreon. $8 a month gets you: – Access to an exclusive members-only Facebook group Unlock the full Aeolian Heart experience. 05 May 2021 | Episode 20 // Cryptocurrency, Financial Sorcery, and Intersectional Witchcraft with Chaweon Koo | 01:48:47
Chaweon Koo is easily the most original, innovative, and provocative voice in modern magic. Her YouTube channel Witches and Wine has become one of the most valuable resources for modern occultism. She has interviewed some of the best scholars and practitioners alive today. But she is not just a passive interviewer. Chaweon has a white hot intellect and an artistic spirit which has synthesized the vast amount of occult perspectives into a unique magical philosophy that I was privileged to hear in this interview. As a Korean American following the Western Esoteric path, she embodies the true liminal spirit of magic itself. And as a vocal crypto enthusiast, she is pushing the boundaries of financial sorcery well into the 21st century and beyond. And through her ability to synthesize high and low, pop and art, East and West, she is a postmodern alchemist par excellence. To speak with Chaweon is to encounter effortless brilliance, good humor and a truly Hermetic spirit. Our talk skips lightly through the cosmos, touching on the occult power of K-pop, ancestral veneration, cultural syncretism, cryptocurrency, financial sorcery, and decentralization in the Aquarian Age to come. As a former student of mine, I am truly humbled by the achievements Chaweon has made as a magician and philosopher—and I was honored to spend TWO HOURS speaking with her. I have decided not to edit out a moment of our conversation because I know you will all benefit greatly from our EPIC flow. Enjoy! Support the show at https://www.patreon.com/aeolianheart

06 Oct 2021 | Episode 22 :: Hermetic Astrology w/ Gary P. Caton | 02:06:15
This episode of STARGAZER features Hermetic Astrologer Gary P. Caton. Gary is a rare soul in the colliding worlds of astrology and magic. Listening to his podcast (The Hermetic Astrology Podcast) is like falling into a deep conversation with a kindred spirit, and reading his words (like his book Hermetic Triptycha, Vol. 1, or any number of his articles in The Mountain Astrologer) reveals a sage wisdom channeled from deep within the Hermetic current. Gary's work on the Mercury elemental year has been instrumental in elevating my understanding of the notoroious Mercury retrograde from one of fear to transcendence. I drew heavily from his book Hermetica Tryptica, Vol. 1 for all three of my Mercury Retrograde posts this year [Libra | Aquarius | Gemini], and now that Mercury is in retrograde in the sign of Libra, it seemed like... well, the Libran thing to do to invite him onto my podcast for an enlightening conversation. We covered a wide constellation of topics, from his initiation into astrology via a dream in 1993 to the 300-year Venus-Mars cycle to the Mercury elemental return of cryptocurrency and beyond.
