While there were many technological precedents leading up to it, this date is often cited as the birth of the Internet as we know it.

Berners-Lee wanted to create a vast hyperlinked global network that would allow for the swift exchange of scientific research.

what started as an internal database designed to store and share scientific research through hypertext has evolved into the single largest body of human knowledge.

It has united the global village with oftentimes miraculous and equally disastrous consequences.

It is responsible for how you send and receive information—whether it’s text message, social media, or streaming video.

Nearly everything you think or say is mediated in some measure by something you read or heard online.

So now that the Saturn is back in Aquarius, the Internet is having its Saturn Return.

In this episode, we discuss the advances in media + technology that have taken place during Saturn's transit through Aquarius, the dark side of the sign of the Water Bearer, and what the future might hold.

Tamra Lucid is a force of nature: a veritable renaissance woman of the 21st Century. Sitting at this precipice between eras stands the great historical figure of Manly P. Hall, still studying and lecturing at his library as he had for many decades. 

Back in the 1920’s and 30’s, Manly P. Hall rose to become the rockstar celebrity of the esoteric world. His legend has lived on, meaning there’s been nearly a century of praise and accolades for his accomplishments as a scholar. Conversely, there are many rumors and conspiracies that abound. Sadly, such extreme praise and suspicion tends to overshadow the human.

I’ve been deeply enamored with the legend of Manly P. Hall for many years. Until I read Tamra’s book, he always seemed far away, like the light of a distant star. However, Tamra’s tender account of their deep friendship brought his spirit to life for me. The “Mr. Hall” described in this book is so personable, so funny and so tragic that you’ll truly fall in love with him. 

Even if you’ve never heard of Manly P. Hall, I still recommend that you read this book because it will be a magnificent introduction to appreciating his historical significance. And it is a really pleasurable read: sensual prose guided by a romantic spirit to stir your soul with a montage of vivid memories. 

You fall in love with all the characters as you span time together. And by the end, you’ll feel like you were there to witness all the bliss and the horror of the 1980’s L.A. occult scene.

Suffice it to say, the whole story is tragi-comic, just like real life. 

In this episode, I speak with Tamra about her life, her art, and the experience of writing this book during the pandemic. And we deepen the exploration of Manly P. Hall’s amazing life and tragic death by looking at his natal chart together. By examining his placements, including his three planets in Pisces, we find more context for the traits he expressed publicly and those that he kept hidden.

Not only that, but we dive into the transits that occurred during the last days of his life, speculating about whether the suspicious circumstances of his death were in fact murder.

Chaweon Koo is a dream come true for me.

Marlene “Seven” Bremner is a visionary artist and alchemist. And her new book with Inner Traditions, Hermetic Philosophy and Creative Alchemy, should be on the top of every esoteric student’s reading list.

Ronnie Pontiac is an accomplished artist, musician, filmmaker and esoteric scholar. 32I met Tony Dushane a couple years ago when he enrolled in my class on creative alchemy. It was inspired by the idea that artists are alchemists: explorers of the invisible realms and spiritual healers. And like alchemy, the power of art transforms and transmutes. As I got to know Tony, I learned how his life-story is a beautiful demonstration of art as alchemy. 

Tony was raised as a Jehovah's Witness, an apocalyptic Christian sect that most people describe as a cult. For the first 20+ years of his life, Tony was a true believer: pained by the urgency of the last days, knocking on doors, and living in an ideological echo chamber. 

But by the time I met Tony, he was an avid student of magic, astrology and alchemy. And he’d experienced a rare level of success as a writer, publishing a novel based on his life called Confessions of a Teenage Jesus Jerk. 

His book captured the attention of the actor/director Eric Stoltz, who turned it into a movie. 

Through the art of writing, Tony’s life story was submitted to the alchemical process: heartbreak and tragedy uplifted into comedic and romantic nostalgia. And the film was the final transmutation.

I wanted to interview Tony because I was so curious about what it was like growing up as a Jehovah’s Witness, why he left that world behind and how he became an artist.

My guest on this episode is astrologer Gray Crawford, who stopped by to talk about how to better understand planets when they are in their fall—like how Jupiter is in Capricorn right now.

Gray Crawford is an independent teacher and scholar of astrology and mythology. His writing is always poetic, insightful and incredibly well researched. When I was a child, I wished that school could just be one long story-time, meandering journeys into ancient history and mythology, with poetry thrown in for musical effect. And that is exactly what Gray Crawford’s writing is like. 

I have been an avid reader of his work for many years. But at the end of 2019, I was feeling the pile up of planets in Capricorn really heavily. I became super depressed and totally at a loss to write about the ingress of Jupiter into Capricorn. This is Jupiter in its place of fall, well known to bring about a time of depression, austerity and deprivation. 

But I found inspiration in Gray Crawford’s article on the subject, where he associated Jupiter’s transit through Capricorn as being the return of Pan, the ancient Greek god of the wilderness. 

Pan symbolizes the awesome power of nature’s fertility as well as the trembling fear of the wild unknown.  As someone with a natal placement of Jupiter in Capricorn, I resonated with this chthonian imagery. I’ve always loved the archetype of Pan. I have read all the original myths and later discovered that Pan’s famous seven-reed flute was correlated to the seven planets. Pan as the spirit of nature plays this flute, symbolizing how nature makes use of the music of the spheres to enact changes in the world of matter. 

After the lockdown began in March, I realized that Gray’s assessment of Jupiter in Capricorn as being evocative of Pan had really hit the nail on the head. Pan had returned in the form of widespread panic and pandemonium.

I was very happy when Gray agreed to talk to me during this time. We had a nice conversation about how we began studying astrology and the hidden value of planets in their signs of fall.

Frederick is one of my favorite astrologers. I always look forward to his writing and have read both of his books. As a person, he has two of my favorite qualities. First, he thinks for himself, even when it means defying trends. And second, he maintains a good sense of humor even during the darkest times. 

It is no secret that an astrological renaissance has exploded in the last decade, inviting anyone and everyone to add to a global conversation. And while this is liberating and exciting in many ways, the quantity of astrological information has not increased the quality of knowledge. And this is why I was so excited when Frederick agreed to come on the show. 

Consider this. I’ve only been a professional astrologer for 5 years. And Frederick has been an astrologer for 40 years. Anyone who is interested in the art of astrology will benefit greatly from hearing someone with so much wisdom and experience in the field. 

As a gateway to mythic intelligence and the cyclical nature of time, astrology opens you up to paradigm-shifting and mind-expanding experiences. But finding quality writing can be challenging. If it is not delivered through saccharin and redundant jargon, then much astrology drags way too far into fatalism. 

Frederick’s work does neither of these things. Like a true astrologer should be, he is not disassociating from or denying the world. He remains a keen observer, with eyes wide open to the way things are. But he uses his symbolic awareness and his cutting edge wit to offer useful cultural critique and some much needed humor.

My guest for this episode is the unique historian, Paul Weston, whose keen interest in myth, mystical experience and history has blossomed into a prolific writing career as an independent scholar.

For the past few years, it seems like every time I check back in on Paul, he’s written a new book. In fact, he has published 10 books on a vast array of esoteric subjects, including William Blake, Arthurian legend and Aleister Crowley. 

In this interview, we talk about his latest book, History and Myth: Boris Johnson. Henry VIII. Extinction Rebellion, Plague, & the Return of the Middle Ages. 

In this book, he examines the cultural evolution that has followed Saturn/Pluto conjunctions in Capricorn, a phenomenon that occurred in 2020, in 1518 and in 1284.

By examining history through this mythic and metaphysical lens, Paul identifies threads of familiar themes in the 13th, 16th, and 21st Centuries, which seem to become revolutionary moments, characterized by an End Times fervor and uprisings against the ruling class.

What I loved about this book is that it uses a cyclical lens of time, both astrological and mythological, to examine the chaotic conditions of the 21st century. 

I’ll end this introduction with a quote from the book where Paul says,

“I feel that in making use of unconventional ways of looking at

history, particularly the idea of cycles, and in seeing the presence

of powerful mythology in modern secular movements, we might be

able to gain insights on the mysteries of the likes of Boris Johnson

and Brexit and also the remarkable Extinction Rebellion movement.

I always say that success is a mixture of talent, hard-work and good timing. This remains true. But there is also most definitely an element of luck, which remains an ineffable mystery that lies just out of our understanding. Once in awhile, the universe just hands you a gift on a silver platter and you can’t attribute it to anything other than good fortune. 

That’s what just recently happened to me. 

Now you may remember the interview that my husband Andrei and I did with the amazing astrologer, Frederick Woodruff. Following that interview, I was informed that Michael Lutin had heard the episode and wanted to come on STARGAZER to have a talk with Frederick, Andrei and I!

This was a stroke of good luck because if you’ve been into astrology for awhile, then you’ll know Michael Lutin as one of the OG astrologers of our day. But for those that don’t, Michael Lutin was the astrology columnist for Vanity Fair for over 25 years. He’s also published several astrology books and has been a guest speaker all over the world at many prominent seminars and universities.

In the vast ocean of astrological work, Lutin’s voice is totally original. He has a profound historical, psychological and philosophical perspective in his writing but remains attuned to the currents of popular culture. He plays the role of an urbane intellectual, having lived in New York and Paris for decades. But he has an unerring sense of humor throughout his work that always demonstrates his intention to inspire personal and cultural healing. 

In his words he says:

“I believe that deep down all people have a core of brilliant, shining, thrilling, blissful health, natural instinct and confidence. Around that core is all too often found a crust of defense and doubt, formed over the years...I believe my job is to help people break through that crust of defense and doubt to liberate their shining core and restore confidence in their own natural, healthy instincts to follow their own fulfilling path.”

On July 23, 1973, the writer Robert Anton Wilson made contact with a Higher Intelligence from the star Sirius (the Dog Star).

Wilson later discovered that July 23 began the ancient Egyptian holy days in honor of the Dog Star Sirius, lasting until around September 8. This is the source of the phrase "dog days of summer." Wilson recounted his experiences with the intelligence from Sirius and a million other mind melting synchronicities in his brilliant autobiographical novel Cosmic Trigger: The Final Secret of the Illuminati.

So, here we are, in the dog days of summer, talking to Paul Weston because of a series of emails I sent to my list a few months ago...

Since they live right here in Los Angeles, I went to their studio to chat with them and record our conversation. Beatrice and Meredith are great artists, painters with thread. They can reproduce any image or style from the past. But they also create their own original effervescent psychedelic tapestries which are a worthy contribution to the ancient art of embroidery.

Amidst the rainbow of threads, the antique embroidery machines, and the works of art in progress, I felt like I was in another time and place. A time when people did not take so much for granted and had more reverence for the hours, labor and skill that go into creating any kind of clothing.

In this conversation, we talk about how Psychic Stitch got started and what inspired its beginnings. We also talk about the major issues caused by the mass-produced corporate fashion industry, which is obscenely wasteful, environmentally hazardous, and shamelessly employs slave labor. 

As an answer to this, Psychic Stitch seeks to make clothing precious again, by enchanting them with a story and purpose. This honors the people who made these clothes and the people who own them now. With conscience and art, clothes become imbued with love. This philosophy is a great departure from the values that have spawned so much spiritual and economic crisis in the world. 

Whether you love fashion or not, clothes are an expression of who you are: what your values are, what your trade is, and what your aesthetics are. It blows my mind to think of how awful it is to clothe ourselves in the products of slave labor. Not only do I mourn for the people in the sweatshops, but it is terrible how much we struggle and compete to be able to afford these loveless products. The whole experience is born from pain and injustice. And it fosters no appreciation for what we own. 

I believe that most humans don’t really want to live like this anymore. And the Information Age is inviting a massive paradigm shift. Artisans with a vision, like the women at Psychic Stitch, are making small but important steps towards creating another way to live.

Welcome to the final episode of my ELEMENTAL series of interviews with small business owners that I absolutely love! Throughout this season, I have learned that when a person is doing work that matters to them, it is never just about making money. Work becomes passion, service and meaning in life. 

My guest today is Benjamin Warfield from Philadelphia, who is one half of an amazing company called Mithras Candle. Both scientist and mystic, Benjamin’s work represents a beautiful harmony between matter and magic, drawing from the wisdom of the past to create a healthier future.

I’ve observed that our society spends a lot of time concerned with the quality of our food. The GMO debate has lots of momentum. And we certainly spend a lot of time measuring the quality of our air and water. Pollution is something that environmental movements adamantly oppose. 

But how often do you hear a dialogue about the quality of light? The term light pollution exists, but it refers to our inability to see stars in the night sky. Though this is terrible, the dimness of stars does not confront how the quality of light can negatively influence biology and behavior.

I have always felt strongly that light should be like the Sun: healing, warm and radiant. How many millenniums have human beings lived by firelight? Fire itself is like a small seed from the heart of the Sun, offering its light and heat to support so much life and transformation. 

In more recent history, incandescent electric bulbs blurred the boundaries between day and night forever, but their glow still attempted to approximate the warmth of fire and the Sun.

Incandescent light differs greatly from the cold and unfeeling fluorescent light used in most major stores, schools and offices. And the even more recent emergence of LED lights has ruined the warm glow of so many homes.

I’ve been waiting a long time to commiserate with someone who can appreciate my sensitivity to the quality of light. And that’s why I’m so glad I found Benjamin, because he has made the quality of light into a scientific study for over 15 years, studying its effects on our bodies, moods, and rhythms.

In our conversation, Benjamin shares what he learned during his time working for a university level research program that was devoted to understanding the biological effects of light. Their discoveries inspired him to return to the magic of candlelight, a luminosity that physiologically invites you to calm down and relax at night.

The science makes it clear that artificial lights can aggravate and disrupt your circadian rhythms. But candlelight illuminates, soothes and relaxes. 

The magic of Mithras Candle comes from the undeniably beauty of candlelight and from the evocation of a very ancient deity. 

You may have heard of Mithras, because his name has never fully faded away. History places the origins of Mithras in ancient Persia, but the cult of Mithras spread far and wide throughout ancient Europe and Asia, eventually blossoming into three centuries of devotion in Rome. 

In the ancient Mithras cults, he was often called the Lord of Heavenly Light. Some viewed him as the genius of fire while others identified him with the light of the Sun.

Today, my esteemed guest is Baal Kadmon.

Kadmon is an accomplished occult author, teacher, and scholar whose work focuses on unpacking the linguistic structure of magico-religious traditions in the West and beyond. He specializes in Classical Hebrew, Ancient Greek, Classical Latin, Aramaic and Arabic languages and the texts & tales they engendered.

In addition to his impressive credentials in the occult, Kadmon is also a veteran Wall Street trader who has recently turned his sights to the cryptocurrency market, which is how we became acquainted

I first met Kadmon through our mutual friend Chaweon Koo after she appeared on STARGAZER last month to talk cryptocurrency and all things financial sorcery. One thing led to another, and a few weeks later, Chaweon and I were performing a live magic ritual to inscribe our intentions on the blockchain at the exact moment of the Mercury Cazimi...

...which was an idea she got from her friend and teacher, Baal Kadmon (who happened to show up for the live ritual).

I was thrilled to discover that Kadmon was in the process of putting the final touches on an epic 80-video online course on trading cryptocurrency—and I knew I needed to have him on the show to elucidate the cryptic world of crypto for my audience.

In this episode, we explore the connection between language & magic, magic & money, and money & technology. Kadmon explains how the occult mystification of money was partly responsible for the 2008 financial crash, and how the new directions in digital technologies show great promise to liberate us from dependency on the monolithic institutions that caused the crash in the first place.
