23 Jun 2022 | Natalia Simons and Bilingual Reading of The Spanglish Girl and Mexiglish Girl | 00:17:41
How can bilingual literature support reading at home or in the classroom? I chat with Natalia Simons from Bilingo Books about that. In her latest books, The Spanglish Girl and Mexiglish Girl, the characters immerse into the language. The young bilingual girls enjoy learning about Hispanic traditions and being bilingual. Natalia’s Biography: Natalia Simons was born in England to a Spanish mother and an English father. She grew up bilingual and spent every summer in a quaint village in Spain with my grandparents and many cousins. She has always loved languages and different cultures so she decided to study Modern Foreign Languages at the University. She has traveled extensively around Latin America, Spain and has worked in Children centers. By merging the two experiences, Natalia decided to write bilingual books for children. She runs a publishing business called "Bilingo Books" as well as teaches Spanish at after-school clubs. So far she has published 4 books which are called: “The Spanglish Girl, The Mexiglish Girl, The Frenglish Boy and ABC Spain”. She plans on writing even more books in order to help children feel empowered to speak a second language. Natalia also runs workshops and author events at schools all around the world which so far have been a great success. Reach out to Natalia Simons from Bilingo Books at:

22 Nov 2021 | Ep. 3: Cara Tyrell from Core4Parenting: Language Development Skills | 00:18:41
What are ways to practice language development to boost social-emotional learning? That’s one of many topics I discuss with Cara Tyrrell from Core4Parenting in this episode. Cara dedicates her time to supporting parents with parenting skills, ASL lessons, and sleep techniques. Listen to our discussion as we chat about language development skills that help parents of children as young as infants. Discover practical ways to motivate your children to express their feelings more. Cara’s Biography: “I’m a lifetime lover of littles who followed my passion through babysitting then nanny positions, followed by higher education in ASL, Linguistics, and a Master’s degree Education. I graduated excited to serve in the early childhood education sector. I adored my classrooms, connecting with our youngest citizens and nurturing them as they developed a love of learning, yet I noticed a pattern. My 5 and 6-year-olds were coming to school lacking a comprehensive readiness to learn in all classroom areas. I’ve spent the last ten years developing Core4Parenting’s methodology to empower, engage, and enrich new parents’ journey as their baby’s first (and best) teacher during the critical developmental years from birth to five. Our community and curricula give them the parenting toolkit to set their kids up for success as learners in school and life.” Reach out to Cara from Core4Parenting at:
