17 May 2023 | Horse Wisdom in the Art of Communication | 00:59:12
Ah, communication. So necessary and yet so easily muddied when put into practice, especially between humans. No one has taught me more about the art of clear communication than horses. The lessons have been many and have supported me in better communication not just with horse, but in all my relationships. In this episode I share the core teachings I have learned about communication from horses in general, as well as the individual lessons each of my horses has taught me and continues to teach me every day. I hope you enjoy this exploration and find some of these insights helpful in your own journey around the art of communication. 17 Apr 2022 | Adaptability, Right vs Wrong and Following Your Purpose | 00:57:50
In this episode I share the lessons and messages I received during my recent trip to Epona Rise Retreat Centre and Chilliwack, BC .
Adaptability was a huge theme for me around this trip and it was a potent space of learning that seemed to never let up until I stepped foot back in Ontario.
I also received many teachings and pieces of wisdom from Hillary Schneider's herd at Epona Rise, especially around following our purpose, getting hung up on right vs wrong, being open to possibilities and learning how to really own and hold our energy.

16 Dec 2024 | Evolution in Unexpected Places | 00:43:24
In this episode I share the story of a time when I didn’t advocate for my Kisses mare when I absolutely should have. I didn’t stand up for her or myself and I had no idea at that time how far and wide the implications of that painful experience would ripple out. A seed was planted in that experience that ended up changing the course of our lives—not just for myself and Kisses, but my entire herd. And while even then I believed that everything happens for a reason, I could have never predicted the strange yet seemingly fated turn of events that helped me forgive myself and heal the harm I’d caused Kisses that day. File this story under: “You can’t make this sh*t up.” (Welcome to my life, especially when it comes to Kisses.) 25 Jan 2024 | Relationship Dynamics and Staying Current with the Medicine of Our Horses | 00:26:34
I was invited into the herd to record this week’s episode all about the ever-evolving and dynamic nature of identity and relationships. It is often a common human experience to become attached with certain perceptions of our horses. I have definitely been guilty of applying characteristics, identities and roles onto my horses and holding onto them as truth, even after they have evolved out of those archetypes. This became much more obvious to me as I stepped into my Horse Medicine Leadership training and the ask to stay current with the medicine of my horses was really brought into my awareness. Since the horses moved home, I have caught myself very much not current with who Phantom has become during his six months in the big herd at the last farm where they lived. In some ways even in denial of the ways he has grown and the roles he has stepped into within the herd. Dido also asked me to share some perspective around the value of relationship dynamics changing and evolving and the importance to hold space for those processes to unfold and not protect my human experience of that onto the horses. We hope that you will enjoy this immersive episode and feel like you are joining us right there in the field! Connect with Angela: Instagram: @equineelevation www.equineelevation.com
19 Dec 2024 | A New Paradigm in the Racing Industry | 01:10:50
Would you believe that there are thoroughbreds in the racing industry who are so well-loved, well-cared for and well-prepared that by the time they arrive at the track to race they look like balanced and developed adult Warmbloods? I certainly didn’t. But my dear friend and colleague Caren Dougall of North of 9 Equine and Canine Bodywork has been working intimately inside the racing industry helping to develop leading-edge training programs filled with sound, happy and healthy racehorses who not only have successful careers but retire sound off the track in body and mind. If your mind is as completely blown as mine was listening to her firsthand experience, you’re not gonna wanna miss this conversation! Caren is someone I deeply respect as both a professional and horsewoman. She is a certified equine and canine bodywork practitioner and instructor as well as a registered veterinary technician. On top of that, she is incredibly well-versed in all things natural and holistic. Her combination of knowledge and embodied wisdom in the space of equine wellness is next level. But the thing I respect the most about her is that she is a fierce advocate for her horse clients, always working with them in a consent-based and deeply compassionate way. So when she told me she was working intimately with racehorses on the track, I was equal parts surprised and intrigued. I am so grateful to Caren for taking the time to give us an honest and eye-opening look into a corner of the horse world that is often demonized as the worst in the industry, as well as hope for what’s possible when you take a horse-first approach to the sport of racing. This one is dedicated to all the incredible thoroughbreds out there. Your hearts are immense and your loyalty is unmatched. We love you! 02 May 2024 | Allowing Our Horses the Freedom to Be | 01:08:42
I had such a wonderful experience chatting with Chloe Elgar for our most recent episode. Chloe is a vibe and her perspective on horse guardianship is one I’m honoured to share with you all through our podcast. I loved our conversation around allowing horses the freedom and space for self-expression. Chloe shares about offering her horses avenues to explore and fulfill their needs, and the importance of following the evolution of their self-development so they can continue to express their true selves as they change and grow. I especially enjoyed hearing about how Chloe approaches setting people up to work with her horses, how that translates into trust and safety, and minimizes potentially negative impacts on her herd. Chloe speaks to the connection between advocating for self and advocating for our horses (which is a topic y’all know I love!) and we jam on our experiences of learning to trust in the connection and purpose we have with our horses. There is so much wisdom in this episode that I know will be of value to those of you who are walking the path of new paradigm partnership with horses. 30 Nov 2023 | Supporting Horses Through Conscious Dying (Part Two) | 01:15:39
Brittany begins part two of our conversation on supporting Kisses through her transition journey by speaking to the physical manifestations of the conscious dying process.
We discuss how to support our horses as they navigate the physical, emotional and spiritual ups and downs of the process. As well as the importance of having grace and compassion for our horses and ourselves as we witness and move through the process.
We also share Kisses’ teachings around trusting yourself, your horse and your intuitive knowings throughout the journey. And the importance of being flexible and pivoting when things shift and are no longer in alignment.
Kisses’ transition impacted our entire herd and a key component of support ourselves as individuals and as a collective was me consciously working through my emotions as they came up and having a support system to lean on outside of my herd.
We also share the unfolding of events that none of us could have anticipated (except perhaps the horses) and the undeniable validation I continue to receive around how interconnected our timelines and highest alignments are as a horse-human collective.
Kisses was truly a once in a lifetime mare who transformed my life more than a few times. It has been such an honour to share her transition story with you and I truly hope it will support you in your partnerships with the horses in your life.

11 Jan 2024 | Co-Creating As A Collaborative Community | 01:24:34
This week we are welcoming Brittany Ashworth of Sacred Echos once again and the topic for this episode came through from her very special gelding, Treu. This connection came up when I realized how differently the process of holding horse medicine sessions has been since the horses moved home. My horses now live in a blended and bonded herd of seven, who collectively have three human guardians. And while they may have different guardians, these horses have very clearly been co-creating as a herd for some time. In this episode, Brittany and I discuss our personal experiences of being asked to step into a blended herd of horse and humans. We talk about the boundaries and blurred lines we are navigating as individuals and a collective from both horse and human perspective and honouring their asks to the best of our abilities as humans. (Spoiler: The horses have very different ideas of whether or not we should have ‘lines” at all.) We also chat about our experiences of practicing horse medicine with one another’s horses and the gifts and challenges of working with horses who aren’t ours. And we also spend some time gushing over our beloved horses who make up this dynamic, magical herd! 21 Mar 2024 | Learning to Embrace My Mistakes | 00:31:42
In this week’s solo episode, I explore some of the teachings my horses have offered me around the importance of making mistakes with them. Yep, you read that correctly. My horses have told me time and time again that there is deep importance in making mistakes for many reasons. Of course we all know that mistakes are opportunities to learn and grow, but my horses have shared that they are also fertile grounds for building deeply authentic relationships, and cultivating trust with each other and ourselves. And while that is a beautiful offering, before I could get to that place, I had to move through a lot of shadows when it came to accepting the mistakes I’ve made with them. I had to learn how to deal with the guilt, shame and anger I have felt toward myself and others whom I blamed for their part in the harm done. I also had to figure out how to cope with seeing certain mistakes I made every day as my horses wore the physical scars of them. And then I also had to learn how to be okay making mistakes with clients and find ways to navigate their resolution without berating myself for getting something ‘wrong’ or making a decision that may not have been as beneficial as I originally thought. I have moved through a lot of layers on my journey to embracing my mistakes, so I hope that these honest shares will support you if you have been struggling to embrace yours. 22 May 2022 | Living Karmic Lessons Alongside Horses | 00:50:55
A recent astrology reading had me really contemplating my life's karmic lessons and how they have manifested in my life with horses.
I had no idea that my astrology chart had written within it the wounding and karmic lessons of both my father and mother's ancestry. This revelation blew my mind. The accuracy and potency of those lessons could not be more present within my life, both with my family and with my horses.
Lessons of control, building walls versus setting boundaries, victimhood and feeling unheard. Join me as I explore these karmic lessons and how they have presented themselves in my journey with horses throughout my life.

20 Dec 2022 | Horses as Catalysts for Healing with Holly Sanders | 01:00:58
I absolutely love having conversations about anything horse-related with my friend and colleague, Holly Sanders.
She holds such a beautiful presence in the horse world as an advocate and guardian of these very special beings. And I often find her insights and perspectives around horses catalyzing and thought-provoking.
It was so wonderful to have this conversation with Holly where we got to share stories about the horses who helped us learn and grow in various ways throughout our lives. We talk about our journeys of realizing that horses were actually offering us opportunities to heal ourselves and ripple effect of that impact in our lives.
I’m still somewhat blown away by the synchronicities and similarities in mine and Holly’s journeys. And I just always find it fascinating the ways in which horses teach us and help us build connections back to ourselves and each other.
It was an absolute pleasure and honour to have this conversation with Holly and I sincerely hope you find resonance for yourself within it.

15 Mar 2023 | Exploring Soul Contracts with Brittany Ashworth | 01:14:03
Welcome to the first episode of our special Equine Body Sovereignty Miniseries. Body sovereignty is a topic we feel is extremely important to discuss in its many facets and so this season we are bringing in guests from different corners of the horse world to offer their perspectives on the subject. Our first episode in the series is with our dear friend and animal communicator, Brittany Ashworth of Sacred Echos. In this episode, Brittany shares her experiences with how horses express their needs regarding body sovereignty in communication sessions. She also shares insights on soul contracts––what they are, how they work and how they relate to our day to day lives with horses, the lessons we are here to learn with one another, and a bigger perspective on what is happening when horses transition. We also talk about how contracts relate to choice and voice in the sense of body sovereignty––especially in regards to when it is a horse’s time to transition. We discuss how we can offer support through the lens of consent and honouring the horses wishes when it comes to their bodies, as well as the impact of the very human tendency toward physical perfection from the horse’s lens and what those physical issues can teach us. This conversation was a joy to have and Brittany offers so much wisdom and insight from what horses have taught her in her practice as a communicator and in her life as a horsewoman. This one is not to be missed! Connect with Brittany Equine Elevation Instagram www.equineelevation.com
09 May 2024 | Supporting the Sovereignty of Mustangs | 01:36:32
It was amazing to host Brittany Ference, Executive Director of Great Escape Mustang Collaborative, for a very honest conversation about their work with these incredible wild horses.

I am genuinely so honoured to be connected with Brittany and an organization that is committed to supporting the sovereignty of mustangs and their well-being as they adjust and integrate into domestication. 22 Mar 2023 | Deriving Self-Worth Through Horses | 00:28:19
Let's start with some real talk. This episode was uncomfortable for me to record because the topic is a bit of a doozy. But my horses have been asking me to speak on this for a while and so I couldn't put it off any longer.
It is very common for humans to derive their sense of self-worth and identity from their horses, but the truth is that our self-worth can't be found from any external source. And when this pattern is left running unconsciously in our lives it can create serious and negative impacts on our horses.
Join me for an exploration of the ways humans derive their self-worth through horses and the invitation my horses offer to heal this pattern within us.

13 Dec 2022 | Reconciling Two Worlds: My Initiation into Horse Medicine | 00:38:57
When I was initiated into the world of Horse Medicine, my life with horses was primarily focused around riding.
I had a string of horses I rode and was preparing for the upcoming competition season. I was just getting a taste of my dream of being a professional trainer and rider.
Any time I wasn’t at the barn with the horses in training was spent with my equine bodywork clients helping support their soundness and performance goals.
So when I experienced Horse Medicine for the first time, it changed everything I thought I knew about horses. And it made me realize there was something so much more profound available in my relationships with them. And I felt the deep call within me to explore those possibilities.
In this episode I share more about my journey of reconciling the two sides of my life with horses and how I integrated Horse Medicine into my everyday life with horses as well as putting it at the forefront of my business.

15 Nov 2022 | Energy Mastery and Becoming the Antidote with Pilar Lesko (Part One) | 00:51:19
There are times––as seldom as they may be––where I find myself at a loss for words. This is one of those times.
How can I sum up such an epic conversation with a brilliant woman in a few short paragraphs?
What I really want to say is, “Just trust me… you’ll want to listen to this episode.”
But I’ll give you a little more to go by…
Pilar and I discuss how working with horses relates to working with Mother Earth and Creation itself and the disconnect for equine practitioners between the work they do that is often so esoteric and how to explain it and bring it forward in the modern world.
Pilar shares what it means to bring frequency first practices in our lives and businesses and how following this template allows us to collaborate with Creation and one another in the most authentic way for each of us.
We have a discussion of how domesticated animals are exploring freedom and how that differs from the ways in which humans and wild animals are exploring freedom.
All of that and I haven’t even mentioned our conversation on what Pilar refers to as the “fixing/healing loop” and how we can become the antidote to what we no longer want to see in the world.
And if that wasn’t enough to pique your interest, here’s a little background on the one and only, Pilar Marie Lesko:
Pilar's body of work lives in the symbiosis of energy mastery and (what she has named) frequency first business. She has over a decade of experience in the healing arts, psychic development, and ancient wisdom. She marries this with over a decade of academic, professional, and rich entrepreneurial experience in communications, marketing, and business.
She is fascinated by the intersection of frequency and form, intuition and logic, ancient and future, divine and human. She pours the many fruits birthed from this fascination into everything she offers. She hopes to be a model of life-giving success.
Give part one of this transformational conversation a listen and then get excited for the release of part two next week!

01 Mar 2023 | Podcast Takeover with Lucie Bohan (Part One) | 01:11:21
We are back with our third season of Sovereign Horse! We decided to kick this season off by flipping the script and instead of having a guest on to be interviewed, we brought on a guest host to interview me. Our wonderful client, Lucie Bohan, has been asking the most fantastic questions since we met last year. And so it felt like a really fun idea to let her go wild on this episode and ask all the questions her heart desired! (Well maybe not, ALL of them…) Lucie is new to the space of horses but is incredibly dedicated to learning as much as she can in the pursuit of holding partnerships with horses based in mutual respect and an honouring of their sentience and sovereignty. So I knew she would ask questions that would be of benefit to other members of our community as well. The episode starts with a conversation around what horse medicine is and why horses can create such a beautiful space of healing that we often can’t access on our own. Lucie also asks about my transition from the conventional horse world into horse medicine, what my first experience with receiving horse medicine was like and how it impacted the way I moved forward with my horses and as an equine professional. We also chat about my first experiences with animal communication, how I moved through my skepticism around its validity and what I mean when I say my horses guided me to something. And that’s just scratching the surface of all the ground we cover in part one of this two-part conversation! I also want to send a big thank you and shout out to Lucie for being such a wonderful host, asking some really insightful questions and for the wisdom she offers throughout the episode. 03 May 2023 | An Exploration of Horses as Family | 00:31:37
In this episode I share some personal explorations and lessons I have learned from my experiences of having deep familial connections with horses. Of course so many of us who have cultivated deep bonds with horses consider them to be family, myself included. But there was a point in time when these connections became unhealthy for myself and my herd, and my horses asked me to look at the reasons why so I could do my personal work and shift the dysfunctional dynamics. Join me as I share my personal history with horses as family and the wisdom my herd shared that supported me in moving through the shadows I held around family so we could arrive at a place of building healthy and harmonious relationship anchored in unconditional love, respect and celebration of our unique differences. I also share stories of our struggle to find joy within our relationship, the message Dido offers me time and time again, and the beautiful experience of learning about your horse through witnessing them share their magic and medicine with others.

06 Dec 2022 | An Exploration of Forgiveness with Beth Porter | 01:30:13
Forgiveness is such an important topic when we are exploring sovereignty for ourselves and our horses.
So many of us who partner, work and love horses have been burned by someone they trusted along their journey. This is the primary reason why so many people say “horse people are crazy” and label the entire industry as a dark place.
I’m no stranger to this myself. I’ve placed my trust in those who I felt had mine and my horses’ highest and best interests at heart, only to realize they had ulterior motives.
And while I held onto the pain of those experiences and allowed them to shape the way I moved through the world for a very long time, it was my horses who finally made me realize that in order to allow better experiences into our lives, I needed to learn how to forgive those who had wronged us.
And, perhaps more importantly, I needed to learn how to forgive myself for allowing us to be put in those situations in the first place.
Forgiveness is no small topic. So I brought in my friend Beth Porter, who is a intuitive healer and EPT practitioner, to help me explore what forgiveness is, why humans have such a hard time with it, and how we can move through the pain, shame and guilt that prevents us from being able to forgive and move forward.
Forgiveness is such a foundational component of our own personal healing and also of how we can build trust and connection with our equine partners. I am honoured to bring this episode to you alongside Beth, who offered so many insights on the process of forgiveness and is just such a beautiful human and soul who I am grateful to know.

12 Dec 2024 | Healing Horse Wounds Through Writing | 00:34:58
I recently took a writing class that changed my life. I joined the class to brush up on my creative writing skills and learn some new techniques for a project I am working on in 2025. But what I didn’t expect was the deep emotional healing I experienced through the process. The practice of writing and working on the class assignments brought up wounds that I had no idea were ready to heal—not to mention the wounds I didn’t even realize I had. When the class was over, I felt like a completely different person. And I awoke one morning with a new assignment—to share the gift of healing through writing with you. I don’t know anyone who has spent significant time with horses who doesn’t carry wounds around things they have done—or haven’t done. And I cannot tell you how many people I have worked with who struggle to heal their past experiences of causing harm to horses. They cannot forgive themselves for not knowing or doing better, and they carry the weight of that guilt and shame around with them every day. In this episode, I share my personal experience of healing through writing, as well as the teachings of the horses who not only gave me permission to forgive myself, but showed me how to alchemize my wounds into embodied wisdom. I also share about our upcoming workshop, Healing Through Writing, which I am so looking forward to holding on Saturday, December 21st at 10am PST. You can sign up to join the workshop here. I genuinely hope this episode helps you realize that if you’ve caused harm to a beloved horse in your life, it’s not only okay for you to heal and move on from your pain, it’s exactly what the horses want for you.
29 Mar 2023 | Exploring Permission-Based Bodywork with Caren Dougall | 01:20:56
Friends, I am so happy to bring this episode to you! This has been a year in the making and the stars finally aligned for us to record this beautiful conversation around permission-based bodywork.
Caren Dougall is a fellow Certified Equi-Bow Practitioner and Instructor, cherished colleague and dear friend who holds a special place in my heart for so many reasons.
It was so wonderful to have this conversation with such an experienced, knowledgable and compassionate horsewoman and professional.
Caren and I explored the question what does equine body sovereignty look like through the lens of a bodywork practitioner?
How do we walk the path of permission-based bodywork with a variety of horses and humans at different stages of their journeys?
What does it mean to have a whole horse approach to equine care? And how do we co-create care solutions with our clients and personal horses?
You don’t have to be an equine professional to find value in this episode, but if you are, you may find some absolute gold in this episode you can take into your practice regardless of your area of expertise.

04 Apr 2024 | Exploring the Herd Hierarchy Model | 01:18:48
This episode was a meeting of the ‘horse moms’! I was excited to be joined by Breanne Kerr of Wildwynd Equine and Brittany Ashworth of Sacred Echos to chat about the concept of herd hierarchy as it applies to our blended herd of seven. I was curious to sit down with the ladies and ask where they would each place the seven horses based on the herd hierarchy model. You’ll have to tune in to find out if we all came up with the same answer! We also explore what is the herd hierarchy model, why was it created and what purpose does it serve? As well as what does leadership look like within the herd? What significance do the individual roles of each horse play into the herd hierarchy conversation? And what role does each individual relationship play within the hierarchy of the whole herd? We also look at the role meeting the baseline foundational needs of the herd plays when having this conversation. As well as what do horses hold for one another when it comes to meeting those foundational needs within the herd, and the development of each horse as an individual. This episode was recorded in the Sovereign Horse Outdoor Studio (aka: the paddock) so you are definitely going to hear some horses and nature sounds! You will also hear some cars in the background, but they absolutely do not take away from the potency of this conversation. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed recording it! 14 Dec 2023 | From Conventional Horsemanship to Co-Creative Partnership | 01:40:53
It was such a pleasure to record this expansive conversation with the lovely Dilara Pataudi!
Dilara is a multi-talented and gifted horsewoman, bodyworker, author and host of her own podcast called Being Herd (among many other things).
She and I dove deep into our journeys from a more conventional way of being with horses to the co-creative partnerships we now each have with our respective herds. It was so fascinating to hear the similar ways in which our horses have walked us along our paths and the teachings we have both been given in the process.
We share about our experiences of receiving medicine from our horses and what they have required, and even at times demanded, from us in our self-development. As well as the wild ride that is being in co-creative partnerships with horses who are deeply invested in our growth and evolution as individuals and on a collective level.

22 Nov 2022 | Energy Mastery and Becoming the Antidote with Pilar Lesko (Part Two) | 01:05:38
This week we are back with part two of this intriguing and insightful conversation with the incomparable Pilar Lesko!
In this episode, we dive deeper into the discussion on how to become the antidote to what we no longer want to see in the world.
Pilar lays out some of the ways we can get hooked into other people’s ideas and perceptions, which can sometimes create confusion as to what is ours and what is not, and how that makes it difficult for us to be clear conduits in our lives and in our work with horses.
We also chat about the organic nature of transformation and how the process of doing our personal work can be simultaneously painful, healing and joyful.
If you enjoyed part one of this conversation, you won’t want to miss part two. It was such an absolute pleasure to have Pilar on the podcast and it’s an honour to bring her voice to the Sovereign Horse community.

21 Dec 2023 | How My Horses Support Me to Follow Soul Guidance | 00:49:04
My first solocast of Season 4! Although I’m never really alone when I record these episodes; the horses are always present.
In this episode, I was guided to speak about how my horses have helped me to surrender to and follow my soul guidance. My horses have truly been my greatest teachers when it comes to learning the difference between the voice of my ego and my Higher Self.
They also taught me the difference between manifesting and conscious co-creation––something that has been probably the most impactful lesson of my entire life.
I share about how my horses’ timelines are interconnected with mine, and how they collapse and transform in tandem with one another, as individuals and as a collective.
I also speak about the importance of not letting my human resist, block and reject soul desires and timelines that are aligned for all of us as a collective.
This journey of learning how to co-create with my horses has been a wild and fascinating ride! I’m excited to begin sharing what I’ve learned with you and hope that it offers some answers or insights into your own journey alongside the horses in your life.

25 Oct 2022 | Surrendering to the Flow of Life | 00:55:19
When I released the last episode of Sovereign Horse, I had no intention of taking such a long break from the podcast.
As the weeks went on, I found myself in a space of silence I’d never experienced before. While there was so much bubbling within me that I wanted to share, I literally could not find the words to speak. I couldn’t even find the words to write.
I will admit, it scared me.
Sharing my voice is such an integral aspect of who I am and how I live out my purpose.
As the weeks turned into months, I wondered if I would ever get my voice back. I felt a clear disconnection between my body and my mind.
This feeling lasted nearly five months. And now I understand the importance of this time of silence. Of being within. Of focusing my energy in a different way. Of allowing my mind to truly be the passenger to my body’s innate intelligence and intuition.
And so as I continue to integrate all that I’ve experienced and learned over those five months, my voice feels ready to share again. While I still cannot articulate all that I’m feeling within me right now, I know it will emerge in divine timing as long as I continue to trust, surrender and allow myself to be within that intuitive flow.
And so for now I give you the first episode of Sovereign Horse, Season Two.

29 May 2022 | The Power of The Pause | 00:46:02
There is a space that I have recognized is present within the journey of many who find themselves moving through a spiritual and/or ethical awakening in their lives with horses.
This is a space in between realizing you no longer want to operate the way you have been with horses and finding a better path to be in partnership with them. For many, the feeling within this space is one of paralysis. They know they can't continue the way they have been but have no idea how to move forward without continuing to cause harm to the horses they love.
I call this space the pause. Join me as I explore the importance of this phase in the journey and ways to help you move through what you need to process in order to get to the other side.

05 Apr 2023 | Should We Burn the Horse Industry Down? | 00:21:35
If you’ve been hanging around in my world for a while you’ve no doubt heard me talk about burning the equine industry down in order to build better lives for horses. And while my inner rebel yelled, “Burn it down and set the horses free!” My inner wise woman encouraged me to look at all the perspectives before lighting any matches. I have spent a lot of time in contemplation of this on my own, as well as in conversation with colleagues, peers and industry professionals who have dedicated their work to equine welfare and advocacy. But in all my research and reflections, the one perspective I hadn’t sought was the horse industry’s itself. So I connected with the energy of the horse industry and asked it for its own insights on whether or not we should burn it down and start anew. And I share those messages with you inside this episode. Enjoy this trip down an esoteric rabbit hole! 29 Nov 2022 | Healing the Teacher/Mentor Wound | 00:40:01
Join me as I share my story of uncovering and healing my wounds around toxic relationships with past teachers and mentors.
This is a topic so many horsewomen and men from all disciplines and paths can relate to because so many of us have sought out teachers to support us in being the best riders and caregivers we can be for our beloved horses.
It is a space where so many of us have abandoned ourselves and given away our inner authority in the name of love for our horses. But the truth is, no one can know our horses as deeply as we can when we are in connection with them on a soul level. And for so many of us, this journey of healing our teacher/mentor wounds is a significant step in reclaiming our voices and our sovereignty, not only for ourselves, but for our horses.
I also share some ways you can dive deeper into learning about your unique path and purpose in regards to your work in this lifetime.
I hope you enjoy this episode and have some fun learning about yourself in the process!

26 Feb 2025 | The Art of Sacred Partnership | 01:14:02
In the launch of our new offering, The Art of Sacred Partnership, I have been sharing pieces of mine and Dido’s 15-year journey together. We have certainly had our fair share of challenges and it has been so interesting to see how many people have resonated with pieces of our story. It can be such a healing experience to see yourself in someone else’s story. It helps us feel like we’re not alone. And when we can see an example of someone who has gotten to the other side of what we are struggling with, it gives us hope that one day things will get better for us too. In this spirit, we have dedicated this episode to sharing more of our story and how we went from being horribly mismatched to living our lives in co-creation with one another. We hope that you enjoy this episode and that, if you are struggling with your horse, it helps you to see that if Dido and I can find our way to being in right relationship, anyone can. 19 Apr 2023 | Healing Horses Holistically with Meredith Barrett | 01:20:23
I’m excited to share this really cool conversation about holistic healing with Meredith Barrett of Remuda Bodyworks. I was so curious to chat with Meredith about her experiences of living remotely with horses in what feels to me like the quintessential country life on a working cattle ranch. Meredith shares her journey of how homeopathy empowered her to support the health of her horses, her family and her clients in a natural and holistic way. Meredith is passionate about helping horses heal through a holistic approach that is centred around solving the root cause to see positive and lasting changes in all aspects of the horse’s life, including his/her ability and willingness to step into training and ridden work. We spoke of the importance of supporting the horse’s gut and how gut damage can cascade out into all other areas of the horse’s life. We also spoke about why cattle work can be beneficial for horses physically, mentally and emotionally. As well as the holistic and individual approach she takes to keep her working cattle horses feeling their best and supporting them as willing partners in their work on the farm. Meredith also offered insight on the Chinese Five Elements system for horses and how we can use these personality archetypes to more deeply understand our horses and find ways to train them in the most aligned way. She also shared how the different types express or suppress emotions and the ways that can manifest physically. Join us for a conversation that was full of interesting information and perspectives on some of the many facets of working with and creating partnerships with horses in a holistic way that is often mutually beneficial and healing for both horse and human.
08 Nov 2022 | Heeding the Call of Advocacy | 00:39:07
I believe being an advocate is embedded within the role of horsewoman.
I also believe there is no separation between advocacy for our horses and advocacy for ourselves. We become bonded in the relationship of horse and human––no matter where we are on our journey––and our lives become reflections of one another.
Join me as I explore the space of advocacy and how that journey connects those of us who have walked through its fire as equine guardians.
In this episode I share stories about my journey of claiming the role of advocate that is encoded in my design, both in my personal life and in my life with horses, as well as the announcement of a new offering for those who have also felt the call and initiation into the role of advocate.

28 Mar 2024 | Exploring Relational Dynamics with Horses | 01:24:13
We were talking big mare medicine in this episode aptly recorded on International Women’s Day! Join me and equine-partnered life coach, animal communicator and healer, Kate Neligan, as we talk about exploring relational dynamics, especially through the lessons we’ve learned with some of the mares who have had profound impacts in our lives. We navigate the difference between transactional vs relational interactions with horses, and how to enjoy the process and relationship development when we are doing anything together with them. We also chat about what it’s like to work with not just horses but also donkeys and goats in her Equus-partnered coaching business. Plus we receive a special and beautiful message from the beings Kate refers to as the Heaven Herd, a group of horses she works with who have transitioned. 08 Mar 2023 | Podcast Takeover with Lucie Bohan (Part Two) | 00:50:06
In part two of our podcast takeover episode our guest host, Lucie Bohan, invites me into an exploration of a topic she is currently fascinated with––horse-human bonds.
She asks me to share an experience of what it looks like to build a relationship with a horse that has deepened over time and how that relationship unfolded over the years.
We also talk about the importance of being open enough to sit in and move through the uncomfortable experiences that come forward with our horses and how they are invitations for us to cultivate deeper trust in our relationships.
We speak about the beauty of how horses meet us exactly where we are and support us in the ways we need for our own personal development and growth.
And Lucie also asks me to talk about the co-creation process of Alchemy, a workshop inspired by my Kisses mare we ran in January to support people in uncovering the unique medicine of their journey with their horses. Which of course led into a discussion around the power of reflection and the healing that can come from moving through that process of contemplating our lives with horses.
We hope you enjoy part two of this lovely conversation with our fantastic guest host, Lucie!

10 May 2023 | Sovereignty in Saddle Fitting with Holly Barnett | 01:25:28
Get ready for a fantastic episode with my guest, equine bodyworker, saddle fitter and educator, Holly Barnett! Holly became a professional in the equine industry straight out of high school. She began her professional journey as an equine bodyworker practicing massage therapy and quickly noticed the patterns of dysfunction caused by improper saddle fit. In classic Holly form, she decided she needed to understand what she was seeing and dove straight into the deep end to become a certified saddle fitter. Holly shares how she learned to blend all of her bodywork and saddle fitting knowledge to create an incredibly positive and impactful experience for both her horse and human clients. I had so much fun exploring how Holly brings her approach to equine sovereignty into her practice and into her educational programs. I’m so grateful to her for sharing so many important insights gleaned from her decades of working with thousands of horses as well as her own personal development journey within her professional life and with her own horses. Holly has also generously offered a free gift of a coherence technique to help you connect with your horse on a seller level. You can receive this beautiful gift here.

01 Nov 2022 | An Exploration of Conscious vs Unconscious Harm | 00:40:42
I have been in an exploration of the concepts I discuss in this episodes for many, many years. In truth, this exploration began as a child observing the way horses were treated in the two spaces I had access to them––at the ranch where I took riding lessons and at the track where my father’s thoroughbreds raced.
As I began studying and practicing equine bodywork, the discernment between harm being caused to horses consciously or unconsciously became all the more impactful.
In this episode I share some of the pieces I have discovered and distilled during my exploration of conscious vs unconscious harm and the impacts both types of harm have had on my horses and myself.

31 May 2023 | An Exploration of Everything with Janie Roberts | 01:27:57
I’m really excited to share this recent conversation I had with the beautiful soul who is Janie Roberts of Wild Horse Circle. While Janie and I had an initial topic for this episode, we ultimately decided to abandon it and just go with the flow of whatever life presented us. And I’m so glad we did! Janie shares about her work and journey on the path of the horse, as well as the many other studies and guides she brings into not just Wild Horse Circle but her embodied life. But we discuss so much more! This conversation was as wild and free-flowing as Janie herself. We moved through so many topics including the wisdom of horses, her early childhood connections with Mother Nature and how that has evolved through her life and work, her studies of anthropology and other cultures, the many paths of spirituality and spiritual studies, the importance of nervous system regulation and the various tools and techniques she has experienced to support that. We also talked about plant medicine and psychedelic assisted therapies, what it means to create the sacred space of home for humans and horses in relationship to nature and our evolutionary paths, the balance of honouring who we are and our personal desires while being in true partnership and co-creation with our horses. How having healthy outlets to express ourselves ultimately allow us to build more authentic relationships with our horses, misconceptions of the healing journey, the importance of community and, if you can imagine it, so much more! 14 Mar 2024 | What if There’s Nothing ‘Wrong’ with the Equine Industry? | 01:27:32

So I immediately connected with Dilara to ask if she would be willing to jump into this massive conversation with me, knowing she would be capable of holding the clear lens of detachment and neutrality necessary to genuinely explore this question. So in she came and off we went on the most neutral exploration of the spectrum of ‘rightness’ and ‘wrongness’ we could muster. 16 May 2024 | The Foundational Elements of Horse Ownership | 00:51:51
A few months ago I had someone ask me to do an episode for new horse owners. She asked me to cover what I would consider to be the basics when it comes to horse ownership. As I have sat in contemplation of this, what I realized is that instead of calling these things basics, I’d consider them more the fundamentals or foundational elements of horse ownership. And so this extends well beyond being a ‘new’ horse owner, because these foundational elements took me many years of horse ownership to come to realize. So while this episode is meant to be supportive for new owners, I hope it will also be supportive for everyone who is in partnership with horses. 09 Dec 2024 | The Investment of Horses | 00:34:38
There is no denying horses are big investments. The physical, financial, emotional, energetic and time investments of having with horses are vast. If you are listening to Sovereign Horse podcast, there is no doubt in my mind that you are invested in horses. Not just invested, but likely deeply invested. The people who hang in our world feel a connection with horses that goes far beyond caregiving, or riding, or working with them as clients or colleagues. Horses are a significant part of their lives. They’re on their minds and in their thoughts every day. They’re woven into their DNA. But something I have come to know is that, while you may be deeply invested in horses, the horses in your life are also deeply invested with you. In this episode, I explore the ways in which horses have shown me time and again just how invested they are in their humans and why. If you’ve ever been curious about what the heck animal communication is all about or you’ve heard about the Akashic Records but have no idea what they are or how they can support you and your animals, this episode is for you!
Animal Intuitive, Elsa Janney, is back on the podcast to talk all about the differences between animal communication and the Akashic Records and why and when you might use them. I share the story of how I was first introduced to animal communication and how it has been a total game-changer in my life with my animal crew. Elsa also shares some tips on how you can begin to play with animal communication yourself!
In my opinion, the greatest act of honouring our horses’ sovereignty is by giving them a voice and animal communication and the Akashic Records are two incredible pathways for them to speak directly to us.
Be sure to listen to the end for a very special guest appearance by one of the Equine Elevation herd members who channels a beautiful message and meditation for the Sovereign Horse community through Elsa.

15 May 2022 | Co-Creating Embodied Leadership with Susan Jackson | 01:06:00
Join me for a lovely conversation with Susan Jackson who is an absolutely beautiful horse woman with the brightest and most loving soul. Susan and I share the story of a powerful co-experience we had together while receiving horse medicine from the herd at Epona Rise. We were immersed in both the individual and collective experience of what was being held between us and the horses we both felt called to in the space. Neither of us had experienced horse medicine in this way before and it was really cool to unpack this exchange and uncover even more layers to the learning than we had initially absorbed when it happened. We also dive into the concept of embodied leadership and how Susan received this teaching from the horses. She also speaks to the evolution of her understanding of what embodied leadership is and the depths and range it encompasses. I absolutely loved having this conversation with Susan. 06 Mar 2025 | Horses as Religion with Dilara Pataudi | 01:11:11
Religion is something people often turn to when they are seeking connection to something greater than themselves. Greater than their individual problems or life circumstances they are in. They look to religion for answers to deep philosophical and moral questions. They go to religion when they are seeking guidance and comfort. \For so many people, horses fill this role. I know they certainly have at times in my life. Because horses initiate us into a deeper connection with ourselves. They remind us of the wisdom that lives within us and the interconnectedness of all things. They are deeply in tune with both nature and spirit, which makes them incredible teachers of presence. Join me and my dear friend, Dilara Pataudi, as we explore the concept of horses as religion. What does it look like to be with horses beyond an interest or a hobby, but as a way of life? What does it mean to be in devotion to horses? What do they activate within us? What pathways do they show us are possible through the act of being in service to them? My friends, this episode has been two years in the making! And so I am absolutely thrilled to finally share this beautiful and insightful conversation with my dear friend, colleague and brilliant woman, Hillary Schneider. I have spoken about Hillary on the podcast many times before as she has been an incredibly important mentor on my journey through horse medicine. But what you may not know is that Hillary is also an extremely gifted business coach who has supported me and many other women through the ups and downs of entrepreneurship. Hillary and I came together to speak about building intuitive relationships with our businesses and share about our upcoming collaboration, the Business Energetics Mastermind. In this episode we speak on following our intuition to flow with wants to be created through us, and how to trust in our messages so we can allow the path to unfold in its own divine timing. We also talk about the importance of making space to be receptive so that we can then allow the wisdom of our business to energize us into action as opposed to creating from a place of should or fear or force. And the importance of this practice so that we don’t unintentionally fill the space that is actually the fertile ground for cultivating what wants to move through us. We chat about tapping into the sacredness of our business and creating from that space, which helps us deepen into our purpose and allows our work to become even more fulfilling, and so much more. 23 Nov 2023 | Supporting Horses Through Conscious Dying (Part One) | 01:03:18
I am so happy to share Sovereign Horse is finally back after an unexpected six-month hiatus.
Season Four begins with a very special two-part tribute to our beloved Kisses mare.
We held ceremony for her transition on July 25th, following eight months of teaching around supporting her through the process of conscious dying.
This teaching was Kisses’ final gift not only to me and her herd mates, but to the many people––friends, colleagues and professionals––who were deeply affected by witnessing and supporting us throughout her process.
I am joined by our dear friend and colleague, Brittany Ashworth of Sacred Echos, who walked alongside us in a big way during those eight months.
Brittany and I share the story of Kisses’ conscious dying process and the vast wisdom we gained both on a personal level and also in the bigger picture of understanding this process for all involved.
I can never truly put into words what it means to me that Kisses chose to spend more than a decade of her life in partnership with me. I hold her teachings as sacred and it is my deepest honour to share her wisdom with those who choose to receive it.
It is my sincere hope that these two episodes will reach those of you who are meant to hear them and that sharing our journey will be supportive for many more horses and humans to come.
