Yasmeen Salama has been composing epic orchestral, soundtrack-style music for over 20 years, covering video game and movie themes as well as composing original works. She pulls inspiration from ethnic sounds around the world, and plays 10 instruments including: keys, flute, ocarina, tin whistle, recorder, duduk, dizi, quena, hulusi, and ney.

We discuss her music career, the work she has done through covers of video games and her own original work.

We also discuss her various musical instruments used in her music. This is a stand out episode. You will enjoy it.

Today on Soundtrack Alley, I'll be discussing an interview I did with ELIZABETH PHILLIPSON WEINER. We discuss some of her music and the films she has worked on.

Elizabeth was born and raised just outside of Philadelphia, PA. Experienced in a wide variety of genres of music, Elizabeth loves to connect with filmmakers and the collaborative art of film scoring. Her music combines unique synth sounds with organic instruments to create bespoke sound palates for each project.

Her scores have premiered in films at the Tribeca Film Festival, Hollyshorts, Urbanworld Film Festival, and Raindance. She’s written the music for everything from non-profit campaigns to congressional campaigns. She is currently scoring a feature film directed by Stacey Maltin for Besties Make Movies.

We discussed her early work and how she got involved with film music, her work on film festivals and the amazing work through the Tribeca Film Festival. We also discussed her music for a few new films yet to be released and I share music from some of her amazing career. I hope you enjoy the show.

One of the best villains in the Star Trek Universe is Khan Noonien Singh. His rival with Kirk is best shown in the Star Trek film Wrath of Khan. Thus we are at our eighth episode of Cue Perception. The second episode of SOUNDTRACK ALLEY here on CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO is a discussion between Myself and Erik Woods about the film and score to the 1992 Tim Burton film, BATMAN RETURNS, which was a sequel of the smash-hit BATMAN released in 1989. In the film, Batman must prevent the Penguin from killing all of Gotham City’s firstborn sons, while dealing with Catwoman, who seeks vengeance against Max Shreck, a corrupt tycoon who seeks to bring Gotham City under his control. The original score for the film was composed by Danny Elfman, conducted by Jonathan Sheffer and performed by The Hollywood Symphony Orchestra. The expanded release of the score was produced by La La Land Records.

Today I'd like to share my interview I did with composer Tim Wynn. He is best known for his work on XCOM2. That is the focus for this interview today, I know he has done some amazing work since then but I'm sure you will enjoy the material nonetheless.

Today I'm sharing an episode that I did a long time ago. Cherry 2000 which was a sci-fi post apocalyptic film in which a man tries to find a new model or disc for his Cherry 2000 sex doll. In the fray of trying to find it, he falls for a bounty hunter (Melanie Griffith) and there are some very gritty mad max moments. The score is by Basil Poledouris, who of course is known for Conan and Starship Troopers. Enjoy!

Today on Cue Perception you'll hear as I nerd out about a cue from an anime film that almost didn't happen, but encompasses all anime in a single film. Mech armor robots, ultra super hero females, battles to the death, annoying side characters that make you want to scream and so much more. The film I speak of is Project A-Ko. It was directed by Katsuhiko Nishijima and the animation style was from a multitude of artist and animators.

There are so many facts in regard to the production in this one episode alone. The cue that I chose is highly energetic and if you have never seen the film, I urge you, no I implore you to seek it out and watch it, possibly for multiple viewings.

Both are very skilled and enjoy the light conversation surrounding the film.
