Dr. McLaughlin received her DVM degree from Oklahoma State University, and has practiced exotic animal medicine exclusively ever since. She is a managing veterinarian at CBEAM, as well as a relief veterinarian for the Seattle Aquarium. Dr. McLaughlin has been involved in veterinary leadership throughout her career, and has authored/co-authored articles in both professional journals and national conference proceedings. She frequently presents educational seminars to exotic animal groups, and is an annual speaker for the Pacific Science Center’s “Get Set To Be A Vet” summer children’s camp.

Brian Tuskan is the Chief Security Officer, Sr. Director for Global Security Operations in the Microsoft Global Workplace Services Organization, responsible for the physical security of all of Microsoft’s global corporate locations. Brian was named one of The Most Influential People in Security 2017. He founded Cop to Corporate, providing free advice for law enforcement professionals to plan their transition to the private sector. He is also a champion of diversity, equity, and inclusion, supporting many Women in security associations and the International Organization of Black Security Executives (IOBSE).

Brian spent 12 years in law enforcement with the City of Redmond Police (Washington) and the Honolulu Police Department as a patrol officer, SWAT, ATV officer, and detective. Brian has a Criminal Justice degree from Wayland Baptist University, is a graduate of the University of Washington (Foster School of Business, EDP), and received an Executive Leadership Certificate from Georgetown University.

Michael Havrda has a B.S. in Environmental Science and Resource Management: Wildlife Conservation, with a minor in Quantitative Science, from the University of Washington’s School of Environmental and Forest Sciences. He is currently finishing up a M.S. in Wildlife Science in the Predator Ecology Lab at the same school. Michael spent several years working as a wildlife field technician (mostly with wolverines) before the Woodland Park Zoo offered him the opportunity to research how urbanization and human activity is affecting carnivores in western Washington.

Diane Andolsek leads outreach & communication for the interdisciplinary graduate program in Human-Computer Interaction + Design (MHCI+D) at the University of Washington. The Master of Human-Computer Interaction and Design is offered by four departments: Computer Science & Engineering, Human Centered Design & Engineering, the Information School and Division of Design in the School of Art + Art History + Design, along with faculty from other UW departments. These four units comprise the award-winning research group known as DUB (Design: Use: Build). This unique, cross-disciplinary approach seeks to educate a new generation of designers, engineers and researchers who can successfully combine the creative aspects of design and the study of human behavior with the analytical techniques of engineering. Kathie M. Bishop, Ph.D. is our Senior Vice President, Chief Scientific Officer and Head of Rare Disease. Dr. Bishop has more than 20 years of experience in leading translational research and drug development, with a focus on novel therapeutics for the treatment of neurological and rare diseases. Dr. Bishop joined Acadia from LocanaBio, where she served as Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) and was responsible for research and development for RNA-targeted gene therapies for neurodegenerative and ocular diseases. Prior to LocanaBio, Dr. Bishop was CSO at Otonomy – where she led preclinical and clinical development of a pipeline of neurotology programs – and CSO of Tioga Pharmaceuticals. Prior to that, she served in various product development management roles at Ionis Pharmaceuticals including Vice President, Clinical Development where she led translation and development of multiple programs in the neurology franchise including the development and clinical trials for SPINRAZA® (nusinersen), the first approved treatment for patients with spinal muscular atrophy and winner of the 2017 Prix Galien Award for Biotechnology. Dr. Bishop also served in research and development leadership roles at Ceregene, a company focused on the development of AAV-based gene therapy products for the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders. She conducted post-doctoral work at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in La Jolla and obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Alberta.
