08 Mar 2022How to Tell Your Personal Brand Story & Reframe Your Life (10min Tuesday) - Shared Diversity with Sina Port00:04:16

You are the narrator of your life. When you want to tell your personal brand story, it's really a story about how you see the challenges in your life and career.

The story we tell about our life, define our life and career. In Psychology and Psychotherapy (research by Grant and Dutton, 2012; Dan McAdams, 1985) shows that; there's two kind of stories that you can tell:  you can either tell the story that comes from victim perspective (where you take on a negative identity = contamination stories), or you can tell the story that comes from a hero perspective (where you take on a positive identity = redemptive stories).

It's called a "narrative identity" because you are the narrator of your life!  What is the redemptive story that you can tell? What is the positive identity that you can take on? leave it down in the comments!

Here are some tips when you think about what you have experienced:

- loss: how did it change your path to something you would never have experienced / learned otherwise?

What did you gain during that loss?

- inequality / injustice: how did this experience shape your personality and how are you fighting for it never to happen again (to yourself or others)?

- failure: what did you learn from it, how did it teach you for your future challenges?

17 Apr 2020Why You Can't Find Your Passion 00:06:27

Do you know this feeling:  "How come I tried so much, but until now I can't find anything that truly fits me?"

Chances are, you went many paths. You started crossing many bridges. But you never really went ALL the way through.

You went back  You know if you go forward 50% and return again, that takes the same 100% energy that it would take you to go through ALL THE WAY across the bridge, to find out if that path is really not for you.

You stopped before you could find if it REALLY fits you or not.  You gave up before you could learn the essential knowledge to apply to any other field.  No knowledge is ever wasted.   You can always apply some of the things to your business, brand or life.  So next time, instead of starting and stopping halfway across the bridge, just go all the way through!

Exception: you can jump off one and land halfway through the other bridge and just keep going.   Leave your comment below: What is the passion that you want to pursue all the way through to see if it will be fitting as your purpose?

27 Apr 2019PERSONAL BRANDING and why it is important {Business, Branding & Womanhood} - www.ShareDiversity.com00:06:12

Transcript:

Just ask yourself the question: When have you compared yourself the last time to your competition and do you really know how to compete effectively? Comparison is so normal it happens to all of us if you are small or big if you are in the first stage of your business or very much advanced in what you do. You just compare yourself and you think I don't know how I can really level up to their level. How come they are crushing me and it can be really frustrating. The first takeaway I would give you is: Creativity doesn't come through competition. Actually competition kills creativity most of the times. That's because we don't have the focus on ourselves we have to focus on the people that we think are better than us and it really doesn't help us to look at what makes us unique. So the next point is branding really helps you to overcome that. Why? Because branding is your reputation and your reputation matters, because it can crush your competition. It doesn't matter if your competition has ten years more experience than you or has 100,000 more clients than you or followers it really matters what is your reputation.

What do they say about Maryam doing photography or what do they say about Zeynep delivering any kind of service? Whatever you are doing it's really not about how much experience you have and that is going to crush the competition. But what do people tell about you? And most importantly what do they say about you behind your back? You want people to talk about you and your business your brand in the best way possible!

So how can you really create a stunning reputation something that holds on for years and might even overlive you?

Three ways:

1. What is your purpose?

What is the purpose of your brand? What is the WHY behind what you do? Why are you doing what you're doing? Why do you want to add value to your audience? That's the most important in many ways why do you want to add value to your audience and what is really the purpose behind what you started.

Is it because you wanted to leave a mark for your audience? Is because you wanted to make their lives easier? Is it because you wanted to just solve one specific problem for them? A lot of times it's a combination of these three but you need to know your WHY what's the purpose.

2. What are your characteristics?

What are the characteristics of your brand. That could be really: What is your personality like? Are you adventurous are you emotional are you funny are you relatable. That are the characteristics of your brand as well. So what are the kind of characteristics and values you want to be known for you can kind of think about 1-3 characteristics that you want people to repeat when they introduce you and your brand

Three is the most important and the whole line of things that you need to create a reputation is:

3. Execution.

You need to execute 1. and 2. you need to execute your purpose and everything you do and you need to execute your characteristics execution can come through the products and services that you create. Through the content that you create around these products and services and around your brand.

Purpose + Characteristics + Execution = Your reputation

11 Dec 2019Build a Professional Online Presence {Business, Branding & Womanhood} - www.ShareDiversity.com00:06:55

Are you thinking of how to build your professional online presence? As a Muslim woman, there are a lot of things that we think are holding us back from creating a strong profile for ourselves on social media.

But listen, sis, there are so many ways!   Understand that when you want to build a strong career and professional life, you have to at least know your options online.

Building a professional online presence is not only possible but it's going to boost your self-confidence, your network, and your net worth. Because reputation is the new currency!

In this podcast you will learn:

  • How to create a strong online presence and cut through the social media junk
  • That modesty online IS POSSIBLE
  • Content forms you can choose if you don't want to show your face online
  • Building your personal brand
  • Halal networking
  • Stress-free connection building in your industry
  • Connecting with like-minded professionals
  • The one thing that is more powerful than Sales

Inshallah, the 3 Tips:

1. BUILD A PERSONAL BRAND 0:15

Understand that modest personal branding exists and that you simply have to find your ideal content form. Podcasting and writing are two of my favorite forms of modest content creation and they are perfect to build a professional online presence!

2. ANSWER PEOPLES QUESTIONS 2:30

Be of service, help others, bring them value! If you can help answer people's questions through your expertise, they are much more likely to follow and connect with you. BEING of service is much more powerful than SELLING your service!

3. JOIN LINKEDIN 3:55

If you want to avoid awkward networking moments, you GOT TO JOIN LinkedIn! It cuts out most of the junk that is flying around on social media today, and people are much less likely to judge you by looks or likes than by your expertise and level of knowledge in your field. Connect consciously with others and make it your favourite networking moment!

STOP, don't leave, here's my question for you:

Inshallah leave a comment here: What is the insight that you can give to be of service to others?

13 Nov 2018Transparency - "The Handshake" & Muslim businesswomen - www.ShareDiversity.com00:11:50

That moment when I awkwardly refuse to handshake a man. It might seem weird to some people out there, but as a Muslim businesswoman, I have made many difficult decisions. Especially in the Western working environment, being visibly Muslim is already a challenge. Sticking out additionally by not compromising on physical contact with the opposite sex, that´s another level. My question is, however, what is a cultural habit and what is a value? Transparency means being truthful with everyone about the choices you make in your life. Leave your comment: 1) What experiences have you had with "the Handshake" situation? 2) What other stories can you share where they wanted you to compromise to "fit in", but your values tell you to "stand out".

  • Tips to prioritize your day
  • How to spend your time productively

Share your diversity with us!

Today we're talking about a MAJOR tip to help you structure your day to be more productive and successful.   Many time we are told we should focus on our weaknesses and work to turn them into our strength.

Holla if you’ve heard this before: “Find out your weaknesses and make them your strengths. Girl, you need to balance your skills so in the end you are good in everything.”

Well, I believe this is NOT the way you should live your life (and research backs me up). Especially when you think about the time you have in a day. I’ve been struggling a lot to understand how I should prioritize my day to get the most out of it.

Especially when I was doing things that didn’t come natural to me, I often felt exhausted and defeated.   Focusing on your weaknesses kills your energy! So that you feel exhausted and unproductive all at once, although you’ve been working hard on yourself.

In this episode I’ll give you the 5min fix on how to my should actually spend your day.

17 Jul 2019How to Network Honestly - [Book Review: How to win Friends and Influence] - www.ShareDiversity.com00:11:54

How can we network modestly? How can we be ourselves in an environment that doesn’t invite us naturally? With people that might not share our values, viewpoints or interests? How can you be authentic in networking and building your personal brand?  I received this book back in 7th grade from my older brother. It’s a book that I always pick up again and again.

HOW TO WIN FRIENDS AND INFLUENCE PEOPLE by Dale Carnegie.

Authenticity.

Authenticity is one of the most powerful tools in today's age of managed digital perceptions. It's a fresh breeze in the filter-on world of social media and personal branding. So let's look into -  What you can do to increase the authenticity of your personal brand:

1. What can I honestly admire about the person in front of me? (01:08

2. Become genuinely interested in the person in front of you. (03:32

3. Find things you have in common, other than what separates you. (05:31

4. Happiness: You must have a good time meeting people if you want them to have a good time meeting you. (07:26

5. Understand, don’t judge. Human beings are not logical beings, they are emotional creations. (08:39

6. 🖤(10:18)

04 Dec 2020Brand with integrity - The Do's & Don'ts of making decisions - with Sina Port 00:28:59

"You attract what you reflect" - Sina Port

When Halima Aden announced last week she would be leaving the fashion industry, we saw how much strength there is in remembering who you are. The ONE word that came into mind when she shared her decision so generously with the world was "INTEGRITY".

Def of integrity (Oxford): the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles. When you realize how much strength there is in
- not compromising your values,
- not fearing public perception,
- not hiding your truth,
you'll gain access to a new level of yourself, your business, brand, and womanhood.

In my 🦋 book, I have an entire chapter on this topic, because it is SO important! You attract what you reflect. When you reflect to the world the standards you believe in (for yourself and those around you),
👉🏽 you will attract friends, partners, collaborators, clients, 👉🏽 with the opportunities, money, and energy that match those standards.

Today we're covering how to get rid of insecurities with realistic, actionable habits that help us to set goals and achieve them, both in business and in private. Especially as we're starting into a new year, Ramadan 2019 is approaching to test us on our goalsetting abilities.

It's never really "easy", whether we are looking to grow in our career, establish a business or independence as a Muslim woman.

Wearing hijab, praying at work, building your brand on social media are legitimate fears just as having a main and a side hustle, raising children or moving to another country could be other sources of pressure. But apart from bigger fears, there are also day-to-day situations which can make us feel desperate and fearful.

Amina from the Book Nomad podcast shares with us how she developed the skill to overcome the fear of failure.

We are covering actions steps on:

  • Changing the way you look at situations
  • Understanding yourself and the way you react and feel in stressful situations
  • Adapting habits which apply to all small and big fears we face in our lives
  • Learning to create a WHY when you're dealing with pressure

As Ramadan is starting, we are also covering topics of

  • Goalsetting for the new year
  • Establish lasting habits
  • Mindset hacks to get the best out of this month

Ever heard someone saying - "You just have to come up with this one idea, this innovation, and you’ll make it big." ? It's not that easy, but I'll share with you what you can ACTUALLY do to make your ideas work (even if they already exist a thousand times!)

Actions Steps:

1. Realise, ideas won't make you a legend

2. Calm down and breath

3. Focus on one particular market that is not catered to yet

4. Realise your USP is you

And last but most importantly:

Know that Allah has given you this idea so you can make something out of it, so it leads you to something incredible so it will further your talent and ambition Keep creating, keep disrupting, keep inventing new things out of your unique personality.

29 Dec 2019Set Meaningful Goals To Support Your Purpose {Business, Branding & Womanhood} - www.ShareDiversity.com00:17:00

When you're looking at creating meaningful change in your life, understand that you have to start by looking at your purpose first. In this video, you will learn how to define your purpose, how to set meaningful goals, and why you need strategies and habits to make them happen.

In this podcast you will learn:

  • The difference between purpose and goals
  • How to find out what type of personality you are more of (goal-setter or purpose-driven person?)
  • To focus better and set less (!) goals
  • The 5 areas you should set goals in
  • How to set both personal & professional goals
  • Building your personal brand

Make sure you understand the difference between purpose or visions and goals!

Are you a rather purpose-driven person or a goal setter? Before you set your new goals, you should understand what kind of personality you hold. One isn’t necessarily better than the other, but you should find a good balance for yourself!

New goals mean you want to grow.  Self-awareness is the first step in self-growth.

STOP, don't leave, here's my question for you:

Both very different but the learnings remain thought intensified:

  • Know your journey, your destiny, everything is written for you (your Qadr)
  • Always keep going and never give up (Sabr = persistence)

20 May 2021How To Speak Out About What Matters 'On-Brand' - MiniPod00:04:08

What legacy do you want to leave behind? 👇🏽

I’ve gotten this question many times: 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘁𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝘂𝗽 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 "𝗼𝗳𝗳 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱"?

There are many issues in the world some we might feel more strongly about some others might expect us to speak up about.

Whether it’s about social justice, human rights, sustainability, anti-racism or anything else.

Here’s how we can use our brand for the better without losing your brand identity: THINK LEGACY

- Decide how you want to be remembered
- Focus on what you know, your unique strengths are your power to change things
- Think long-term impact

24 Apr 2020Smart Goals & Ramadan 2020 with Sina Port00:14:39

Ramadan Mubarak to all of you! Today let's talk about NEW WAYS of setting goals that instantly can improve your life & career!

Smart Goals & Ramadan 2020

  1. Redefine how success looks for you: for both Ramadan this year, and your Personal Brand, success doesn't need to look like everyone else's. Figure out what you truly want to achieve and even if that is different to the norm, set your goals according to your personality, unique life & visions.
  2. Go the unconventional ways: to achieve your spiritual goals & your career goals, you should explore ways that are not conventional. Remember: if you want unconventional results, you need to go unconventional ways. That doesn't mean you need to innovate, but figure out what works for you, even if that looks weird to others.
  3. Figure out what defines you: you need to pivot according to what you want deep down. What's the legacy you want to leave and what do you have to do right now to achieve it?

Leave your comments here.

09 Feb 2019Goal-Setting: How To Set New Goals in 3 Simple Steps - www.ShareDiversity.com00:12:45

One of the most common questions I get asked is,

“Sina, how do I set goals and achieve them? Especially for a yearly plan, how can I organise my ambitions?”

Setting goals? Wondering how to organise the new year? In today’s Shared Diversity episode I’m sharing a simple 3 step process that helps me set goals for the new year (or any new phase of your life!), plus a great tool that we use in our team to make sure that we meet our visions and keep creating!

Leave your comment on https://wp.me/p9Smx2-p8:

1) Which signs have you seen on yourself?
2) Which signs do you still need to develop?

Share Your Diversity with us!

1 Step: Goals are not visions:

There is a very big difference between goals and visions. You can set visions in the long term, but to be able to achieve success, you have to define your goals in a measurable & timely way.

2. Step: Planning & Organising:

How can you organise your goals effectively so you can avoid failing with your to-do lists and truly achieving success? Grab the guide on consuming vs creating. What content should you consume and how can you create more, continuously? Download the pdf here: https://sharediversity.com/create-vs-…

3. Step: Leadership

You have to lead yourself to success.. But more importantly, you have to lead others. Find out your strengths and capabilities by writing down what you are happy to do and what people praise you to do regularly. This way, you will gather the right people around you who will contribute to your growth.

22 Feb 2018Well-being Why I Fail00:02:32
We as women often fall short in prioritizing stuff like wellness, well-being. Because when we are stressed over money, reputation and our future, wellness is out of the window. What we don't realize, if we take care of our wellness, we might not drown in stress. You can't climb a mountain from the top, you have to start at the bottom. Wellness is at the bottom. If you can master the foundation, the climb won´t be as hard in the end. Inshallah
24 Feb 2018Wealth The Fast Track00:06:25
Where your focus goes your energy flows. I have to envision every day what I want for my life, to be able to achieve it. Clear goal setting. Allah has divided up among you, your character, the good qualities that you possess. Just as he has divided up among you, the material things that you enjoy. So what do we do with it?
28 Feb 2018The Road Less Travelled00:07:58
Which road should I take? We can choose between short term success and long term impact. The one less travelled? What is my future? We can choose between safety and risk- the one with the most unexpected outcome- high-return uncertainty. We can choose easy and haram or difficult and halal. Apply this to the tiniest thing and it will imply major effects for your future.
07 Mar 2018Journey - Straight Path or Not00:07:46
Struggling to understand whether going the "straight path" is actually a thing. Should we maybe rather go our own path and journey to understand where we came from and more important, where you want to go? What will people say about you in the end? A reflection on a very personal journey of “going my way straight, exactly knowing what I want” and some action steps to look at Your individual path. On distractions, misleading ways and goals. الْهَادِي
15 Mar 2018Feminism - Equality?00:09:06
Let´s talk about a widely hated and over-socially-constructed topic. Feminism. Equality of men and women. Is that what is stands for? Well, if that is what it stands for, I am out. Men are superior and that´s why we need to catch up, is it? How about defining your own standards for once? اِنَّ اللّٰهَ يَاۡمُرُبِالۡعَدۡلِ Indeed, Allah orders justice
16 Mar 2018Be Honest00:03:51
Aiming for the best means always to plan next time. But are we approaching this topic of becoming better right? I want to know how we know what is right in the first place. A letter to myself - next time (...) you are honest to yourself. I have to be the best version of myself, not to myself. But to Allah. To reflect only the good values of Muslims. Certainly not to represent Islam. Nore Muslims.
20 Mar 2018Goal: Do The Impossible00:04:17
Be logic, be realistic, set goals that make sense. But what if my "realistic" mindset just simply means, that I underestimate my abilities? How come others achieve the things that we think are impossible? Today, we are talking about WHY we set goals for ourselves. And HOW we can achieve something great, while we think it is impossible. Deeds are by intentions إنما الأعمال بالنيات PS: The word [impossible] comes from the root [I. M. possible]
25 Mar 2018Relationships - The business mindset00:10:15
Husband and wife are equal. Equality for unity. Why should a woman not be able to do the same as a man? A healthy relationship works on the ground of equal rights... Theory sounds well, practice.. just look at the divorce rates and you´ll know. Let´s talk about how relationships work and let´s be pragmatic about it: It´s teamwork. And how does teamwork work? Well, ... Like a business. Family, Relationship and love in Islam is all about balancing roles and responsibilities.
06 Apr 2018Energy - Cleanse your mind00:04:09
In the moments I feel tired, exhausted, like all the energies of others burden my mind and mood. How do I get clear again? After discussions, setbacks and having to defend and explain yourself over an over again. At some point, we need to cleanse ourselves again. From the prejudice, pessimism, the racism, discrimination and ignorance of society. The ignorance of our values and our viewpoints. Just as scholars have explained - the Quran is like rain which pours down the earth and purifies everything it touches. So how do we clean our mind again to regain our energy?
21 Jul 2018Inspiration - The Myth Of Creation - Sharediversity.com00:05:59
We are always taught that motivation and inspiration make successful people. But what if I tell you that we´ve been told nothing but myths? It´s never been about being motivated all the time. It´s about getting things done. You don´t feel like it? Doesn´t matter. You still do it. But how? In this episode we discuss what really makes us create. Inshallah.
14 Sep 2018Value And Self-Worth - Sharediversity.com00:04:55
What is the meaning of value for myself? Something we ask ourselves inevitably in life, career, love and friendship, and they are necessary. It´s not only a need but our obligation to understand and VALUE our worth as women. Don´t offer yourself under value. But how do I understand my self-worth? This episode will discuss how. Inshallah.
21 Sep 2018Time - Setting Priorities - Sharediversity.com00:05:48
How should I plan my days? How should I prioritise? Time is money. Really? No, time is more valuable than money, because we will never get it back. So how do we decide where to spend it on? This episode discusses how to set priorities and how to make the most out of your day. As Allah swears by time, we are at loss: وَٱلْعَصْرِ إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَٰنَ لَفِى خُسْرٍ إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِٱلْحَقِّ وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِٱلصَّبْرِ By time, Indeed, mankind is in loss, Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience. [Surah Al-Asr
