Yubie played college tennis and is currently a 4.5 USTA Tennis player. He captains many USTA teams that went to the state championships, sectionals, and once to Nationals in 2018, along with numerous World Team Tennis that also went to qualifiers and to Nationals in 2016. In addition to that, he was named North Carolina Captain of the year in 2018.
In late 2019, he began his pickleball journey. As a beginner pickleball player, he started as 3.5. His curiosity about the sport took him out to the courts to learn and practice every day. He played his first tournament in doubles as a 3.5 and won Gold right away without losing any games and played his second tournament as a 4.0 and won Gold also. After his first two, he started playing 4.5 level, several 5.0s, and even a couple in the professional levels. He earned several Gold and Silver medals in 4.5s and even though no medals yet at the professional level, he had some great wins.
Currently, he resides in Raleigh, NC with his wife Mandy, who is also an avid tennis and pickleball player.

Cy was selected as North Carolina USPTA Pro of the Year in 1996 and was inducted into the NC Tennis Hall of Fame in 2004. He also served as the President of USTA North Carolina and as President of the North Carolina Tennis Foundation.

Bill is a sports marketing, sponsorship, communications and event production professional. He has worked at Wake Forest University, the Winston-Salem Open, the USTA Southern Section and numerous sports marketing firms over the last thirty plus years.
He has hosted tennis television and radio shows since 2004, including doing play by play at the US Open for usopen.org radio. Bill has been a tournament director on the ATP Tour, chaired ATP committees on Television and the 250s, served on the Tournament Council, and been an instructor at the ATP University during this period.

He played college tennis at NC State where he won two ACC singles championships, an ACC doubles championship, and NCAA All-American honors in 1981. His brother played at NC State University and his wife played tennis at the University of Georgia. All his children played tennis at a high level and two of his children played at Division 1 schools. In 2019, his family won the Family of the Year Award from North Carolina. He gives fantastic advice for parents of tennis players and for tennis players!

Sara is currently the President of USTA TN. She started with USTA as a beginner in her 30s and fell in love with it and is now an NTRP 3.5. She is a local league coordinator, has captained numerous teams, served on committees for the Southern Section, and even started a Community Tennis Association called “Jackson West-TN Tennis Association” (JWTTA). She served as the Secretary, and then President of the CTA board and now she is Past-President. She also works on programming locally and manages the JWTTA website and social media pages. Basically, Sara does it all!

No Racquet No Problem (Tennis Lending Lockers)

Have you ever been at a court and wanted to play but didn't have a racquet? Do you have a bunch of old racquets that are sitting in your closet?
We are thrilled to have Kim Roberts on the podcast! Kim is the Executive Director of the Raleigh Tennis Association ("RTA") and is here to tell us about a new tennis initiative called "Tennis Anyone?". RTA is placing tennis lending lockers at various public courts and community centers in Raleigh filled with gently used tennis racquets and new cans of balls. This will allow everyone a chance to get out there and hit a ball. RTA will replenish the lockers on a regular basis.

Raleigh Pro League (Conversation with Brian Rosenthal)

What is the Raleigh Pro League? Will adult rec players ever be as good as the people who play in that league? Most likely no! But it will definitely make us better to watch them.
We really enjoyed speaking with Brian Rosenthal, the director of the Raleigh Pro League. Brian was a top ten junior in Florida and played for NC State University. He started a tennis management company called RDUTennis in 2007. He trained at the Rick Macci Tennis Academy with Andy Roddick and both Williams’ sisters. Advice for Combo or Playing Across Levels

Francie played college tennis for NC State and was the Assistant Coach for NC State after graduating. She was the Head Coach at Methodist University, the Director of Professional Tennis Management at Methodist University, the Director of Tennis at MacGregor Downs Country Club, and is a PTR & USPTA certified pro. She is currently the USTA Southern Manager of Coach Development and Training and the Tennis Service Representative for North Carolina.
She was inducted into Methodist University Athletics Hall of Fame, the Fayetteville, NC Sports Club Hall of Fame, named PTR Pro of year for NC, and received the USTA NC Lifetime Achievement award.

Paul Pittman is the Chair of USTA Southern’s Advocacy Task Force. He was the President of USTA South Carolina and inducted into the South Carolina Tennis Hall of Fame and has been on the Southern Board of Directors. He has captained 27 teams, 3 that won state titles. Rainey Johns served on USTA Kentucky’s Board of Directors for 12 years, including two as President and is now on the USTA Southern Board of Directors. She also serves on the National Parks Committee. She played both soccer and softball in college and started playing tennis as an adult.
