This week it’s all about the random films we found on streaming platforms! Taylor and Mike review some films, you may not have heard of, Mainstream and How It Ends (2021). Mike has had a chance to sit down and talk with the cast and creative team behind “Stupid For You” the film that opens Reelout 22!!!! The Reelout Queer Film Festival runs from January 26 until February 7, available online so you can stream safely from home.

Our team is hard at work trying to guess what types of movies from 2021 will get an Oscar nod this year. As we stick to streaming, Taylor reviews The Lost Daughter (Netflix) and Mike reviews My Son (Amazon Prime) and that means we have a lost child kind of theme this week…

We’re in that time of year when Mike and Taylor will start looking at all the Oscar Nominated films as we start the countdown to the Academy Awards. This week, one of our hosts was successful…the other one was not. Movies we review this week include: Belfast, Nightmare Alley and Munich: The Edge of War.

This week in Kingston the Kingston Canadian Film Festival kicks off and we’re chatting with Janet Wells, director of Sleeping Warrior as well as Stene Wells who also worked on the film. We also caught up with Jason Anderson, Director of Programming about the general festival which runs March 3-13. We continue our reviews of Oscar films and remind you to read and see Death on a Nile for our movie club!

We finally review Death On The Nile, both the book and the 2022 movie! We welcome back Kaite and together our team discussing the book, the movie, compares the two and we hear a bit from our fans as we wrap up our first book to movie club!

Taylor reviews CODA and Mike reviews King Richard as we get set for the final week before the 2022 Oscars. We’ll preview the Academy Awards and answer a bunch of fan questions we haven’ had time to get to over the past few weeks.

It’s time to recap the 2022 Oscars in all its glory. We’ll talk about the winners and recap all the hard hitting action. We’ll also announce the winner of our 2022 Oscars Pool.

This week on Screening in Kingston we’re talking all about The Batman! We review The Batman (2022) and get excited for some more new movies after we finally put 2021 to bed.

New movies are back to their full domination this week on Screening in Kingston as Taylor reviews I Want You Back (Amazon Prime) and Mike reviews Everything Everywhere All at Once (now in theatres).

It’s the 2022 Oscar Pool Winner’s show this week as we welcome back Tyler Vance! He puts Taylor and Mike through a series of animated films, of various styles, and we discuss the film genre and art style in some detail. We learn why Tyler selected this for his Oscar’s prize and two fun games make a cameo from our fan producer Austin.

This week our team finishes some fan questions left over from last week including a fun fan casting session that might go wrong real fast! Taylor reviews Operations Mincemeat and Mike was ready to review Moon Knight however a casting of a live action Sailor Moon got in the way.

This week Mike gets to some Marvel talk with his review of Dr. Strange in the Multiverse of Madness! Mike and Taylor both give you some streaming recommendations as Taylor reviews the Netflix Doc Our Father and Mike reviews MoonKnight.

We’re diving into movie news with the return of Not A Great Plan and answering some fan questions!

In the first episode of Screening in Kingston we meet Mike and Taylor, our two hosts, and are introduced to their love of movies. They review the film “Mandy” and ask the most important film questions of this century including “Is Nic Cage a good actor?”. This debut episode includes a movie news discussion segment called “Not a great plan” as well as many more surprises to kick off this movie podcast.

In the second episode of Screening in Kingston, Mike interviews the owner and manager of the Screening Room, Wendy Hout, who relives her first day owning the theatre! Mike and Taylor also review three films including “Searching”, “Mamma Mia 2” and “Juliet, Naked”, introducing their scoring system, “See it”, “Stream it” or “Skip it”. Tune in to hear their thoughts on these films and an amazing interview with Wendy!

In the third Episode of Screening in Kingston, Mike and Taylor review “BlacKKKlansman” from director Spike Lee as well as revisit their conversation around Mamma Mia 2 due to a fan question and of course look at movie news through the segment “Not a Great Plan”.

This week Mike reviews Jurassic World Dominion and talks about the 6 Jurassic movies. Taylor reviews Hustle on Netflix for a quick update on the career of Adam Sandler as we discuss some things that have possibly passed their prime in the movie world like a Joker movie…as an example.

Mike finally sees Top Gun Maverick after all the buzz and Taylor reviews The Bob’s Burgers Movie…actually, no, we’re not going to get to that for a while because we’re talking about the dumb JOKER MOVIE AND IT’S TERRIBLE AND CONFUSION DECISIONS BECAUSE APARTNETLY THAT’S WHAT WE DO NOW.

This week we take a look at the rest of Stranger Things Season 4 as we get set for the two BIG episodes to end the season!

Stranger Things season 4 comes to an end and we’re discussing the final two packed episodes and the season in general. What’s to come from season 5? Only time will tell and Taylor and Mike dive into their theories and your theories!

This week we discuss plans for the next movie club and our 200th episode as well as reviews for Elvis, The Black Phone and a few streaming options that Taylor and Mike have both enjoyed over the last few weeks!

The Screening in Kingston team checks out some new streaming releases as they review The Gray Man (Netflix), Persuasion (Netflix) and Prey (Disney Plus).

It’s a streaming kind of week as weather, illnesses and lack of new films kept Taylor and Mike inside this week to review 13 Lives and 13 the Musical.

This week we look at some not so well known summer releases as Taylor reviews The Day Shift and Mike reviews Vengeance (2022). We also spend about half the episode talking about Olivia Wilde!

In this week on Screening in Kingston we’re welcoming back some amazing guests to help us celebrate 200 episodes of Screening in Kingston AND our four year anniversary. In this episode we talk to movie fans and hear topics that you, our fans, voted for! We welcome back Tyler Vance, Katie, Matt, Ben, Nicole, Josh the Inquisitor, Andrew and producer Austin for fun segments on a variety of topics including Star Trek: Enterprise, Best Book to Movie adaptations, Teen Flicks, Video game movies, Best Music Bio picks, movie questions, the MCU and a special game created by Austin to test the Screening in Kingston hosts on their knowledge of their own show.

We welcome back Nicole to the show to give her annual thoughts on the Toronto International Film Festival! She’ll review movies she saw and give us her thoughts on what to look out for in the coming months as the Oscar movies make their way into theatres.

This week we’re back to new movies and Bo Burnham! Mike and Taylor discuss the Inside outtakes, while Taylor reviews Do Revenge and Mike reviews Don’t Worry Darling. Our team answers some fan questions, passes on more congratulations to Taylor and discusses how Screening in Kingston should handle her leave from the show!

Tyler returns to talk more Star Trek with Mike and this time they are tackling Star Trek moments they wish they saw on the big screen. They also share their own experiences seeing Star Trek in theatres including what it was like to introduce friends to Star Trek in 2009.

It’s a fun week of wild movie news about The Lion King, The Joker and the MCU, plus we review The Little Mermaid (2023), Spider-Man Across The Spider-Verse and Blood & Gold!

In the 11th episode we review the movies Suspiria and First Man as well as answer fan questions around our radio mistakes, A Star is Born is brought up way too many times and we discuss the career of Ryan Gosling.

It’s barbenheimer time! Our team reviews Barbie and Openheimer. Taylor talks about her experience being back in a movie theatre for the first time in a year, and the two discuss the success of these movies.

This week we get to our Oscar Winner’s pick for an episode about Movies you know we’ll hate! Taylor and Mike have both selected movies for the other person that they knew they’d hate. They were forced to watch them and now they’ll review them!

This week we open up the mailbag and answer some fan questions from the past few weeks. A lot more Barbie talk as we discuss a movie that’s really making an impact…everywhere…all types of impacts. Mike also reviews Theater Camp for a little trip down memory lane.

The Trek boys are back and they really ran out of time fast. Tyler finally saw the rest of Star Trek: Enterprise and gives his review of the entire series. Mike thinks this show is underrated and the two discuss where it sits in Star Trek fandom.

This week Taylor reviews Ehrengard: The Art of Seduction from Netflix and Mike reviews A Haunting in Venice and The Pope’s Exorcist. They discuss the latest trailer for The Exorcist: Believer and look back on 5 years of Screening in Kingston. (Featuring a lot of Paul Rudd and Taylor Swift talk)

Strike talks finally improve, so we kick off the episode with news on the Writers Guild of America returning to work. Taylor talks about the terrible humour in Once Bitten (1995), and Mike finally reviews Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayham. We also gossip for about 25 minutes.

Thanks to an amazing fan question, Mike and Taylor discuss what they would put on their movie playlists. They build a playlist that represents them and present it on the show. It’s Halloween season so Taylor is putting out a pool online for you to pick which movie from the famous Halloween series we should watch for our October 31 episode!

Taylor and Mike review The Nun II while they discuss Halloween in general and answer some fun fan questions about podcasting. A frequent guest host also writes in with some big news…

Another Halloween themed episode as Mike and Taylor update their Conjuring Universe rankings, Mike reviews The Boogeyman and The Creator while Taylor reviews. The two also answer some fan questions and play a round of “Trigger me this” thanks to Akiel!

Happy Halloween from Screening in Kingston! We have an episode on Halloween this year so we decided to finally see John Carpenter’s Halloween, because both Mike and Taylor have NEVER seen it! We also review a second movie from this horror/slasher series, selected by the fans.

This week Mike reviews Pain Hustlers and Old Dads, Taylor reviews No Hard Feelings. Our hosts discuss the changing movie schedule with all the Hollywood strikes as we don’t quite know what to expect from the rest of our fall movie season.
