08 Feb 2022Four Red Flags to Watch for When Hiring an Ads Manager or Agency00:15:32

If you’re hitting a cap on your sales funnel and looking for an ads manager or an ads agency to help you generate more qualified leads, there are few things to consider before hiring. Four things, to be exact! Before you ever outsource your ad spend, make sure your next ads hire doesn’t send up these red flags.

In today’s episode, I talk about the four things to watch out for when hiring an ads manager or an ads agency. I go over the differences between an ads manager and an agency, why your offer has to convert before you ever spend on ads, and the importance of having a solid ads budget. I also explain which four red flags you need to look for and how to spot them when you’re hiring.

Here’s a closer look at what I discuss in this episode:

  • How an ad agency works
  • The high variability performance of an ad’s creative elements
  • What actually gives you ROI (hint, it’s not ads)
  • The importance of a high converting funnel
  • Four red flags to watch for when hiring an ads manager

22 Feb 2022Three Signs You Shouldn’t Invest in an Ad Agency00:15:00

In becoming a business owner, I learned that there were a lot of misconceptions about ads when I transitioned from running ads in the corporate world to running my own ads agency. It was shocking to see how people really viewed ads and how many people I actually had to turn away because of these misconceptions.

In today’s episode, I am sharing a few signs that you should NOT invest in an ads agency. These signs fall into two categories - you aren’t ready for an ads agency or you aren’t right for one. If you are considering this investment for your business, tune into this episode to see if it is really the right choice for you at this stage of your business and if your business model supports partnering with an ad agency.

Here’s a closer look at what I discuss in this episode:

  • Not being ready for an agency vs not being right for an agency
  • When your products or funnel are not proven
  • When you’re not making sales organically
  • When you don’t want to show up on social media
  • The downfalls of hiring an in-house ads manager vs an agency
  • Why you aren’t ready to hire an ads agency

22 Apr 2019Building a personal brand: The why and how00:09:37

When spending so much time and effort branding our businesses, this is something I see neglected all the time. Branding can be a slower process where you don’t see instant conversions and results. This prevents people from focusing on branding, but it’s important to remember that sales and branding are separate initiatives.

In this episode, I break down the why and how of building a personal brand. I hope the WHY encourages you to start as soon as possible on your personal branding and the HOW gives you what you need to start today.

I also breakdown what personal branding is NOT to prevent people from making these mistakes during this journey that could hurt their branding.

06 May 2019Your first 5 steps before creating a marketing strategy00:11:26

I have seen a ton of marketing strategies and one thing I always see lacking is the foundation for them. A marketing strategy isn’t about choosing Facebook or Instagram. You have to figure out what you are marketing, why and to who.

Might seem simple until you sit down and try to define it. It can sometimes be harder than you think to be so specific about your business when it’s all packaged up in your own brain. Communicating what’s embedded for you can be a struggle.

In this episode, I walk you through the 5 steps that build that strategy to help you build a strong plan for marketing your wellness business.

In working in the back end of my clients’ businesses and in building relationships with them through the years, I have learned so many valuable lessons about running and scaling a business.

In being with my clients through the different stages of business and really going through it with them as a member of their teams, I noticed a pattern in what many of them were going through. Today I wanted to share some of these valuable lessons to help us all as we are all on our own business-building journeys.

Here’s a closer look at what I discuss in this episode:

  • Beware of burnout
  • Business fluctuations are normal and failed launches happen
  • Consistency is key
  • It is necessary to outsource and build a solid team
  • Missions really do drive success
  • Slow is often better

14 Jun 20223 Things I Did to Recover from Being a Workaholic00:19:37

Confession: I used to have a lot of workaholic tendencies. I used to believe that I had to always hustle around the clock and this led to not having boundaries between my personal life and work life.

Don’t get me wrong - I love what I do and am very lucky to have a career I actually love. But there’s a huge difference between working to feel worthy and important versus working because you enjoy it. Not to mention, the results of both those circumstances vary greatly as well. So in today’s episode, I’m sharing the 3 things I did to recover from being a workaholic so that I could enjoy my work, operate at my best, and avoid burnout.

I start by defining what the term “workaholic” means to me. Then, I explain the difference between being busy and playing big. Finally, I share the 3 things I did that allowed me to take a step back and recover from my workaholic tendencies. If you’re like me and constantly feel the need to hustle and grind, this episode is for you.

Here’s a closer look at what I discuss in this episode:

  • What the term “workaholic” means to me
  • Recognizing the difference between being busy and playing big

  • Why you need to give yourself permission to grow slowly

30 Aug 20222022 FB/Meta Ads changes and why your ads manager must be skill building00:19:34

In today’s episode talk about how ads have changed over time and why it’s so important to be up to date with these changes. In today’s episode, we’re going to take a deeper look at business investments and why they are so crucial. I offer a different perspective on investments and discuss why monetary returns aren’t always the best kind of returns to get. Listen in for more!

Here’s a closer look at what I discuss in this episode:

Becoming a business owner has been one of the most rewarding, and humbling, experiences I have ever had. I go into what makes being an entrepreneur so hard, and how it has nothing to do with the journey. 23 Jan 20236-Figure Launches: The most successful strategies I see behind the scenes00:13:28

If you're a coach in this space, I'm sure you've seen your peers share their amazing results with big numbers after their launches. Curious what these successful launches have that make them so successful? I've been a part of A LOT💰 of successful coaching programs and course launches.

I've ran ads for near-million-dollar launches, and when looking back at them all, they all have a few things in common. I put together the 5 things ALL of the successful launches I've been a part of had.

30 Jan 2023Maternity Leave Recap as an entrepreneur - How it worked out, insights and what I would do differently00:27:46

When I was pregnant, I tried to binge as much content as possible about maternity leaves for entrepreneurs.

I'm pretty sure I finished in a single afternoon because there was so little of it.

When you are an entrepreneur ready to take maternity leave, you don't get to just let your boss know you'll be out for x amount of weeks. There is a TON of planning and a million details to take care of.

Before my maternity leave, I shared my plan on the podcast with the caveat that I hadn't carried it out yet. Well, now I have and this week on the Scaling to Freedom podcast I share a recap of how it went, insights, things I would do the same and things I would do differently.

If you're an entrepreneur looking to have children in the future or are pregnant now, this one is for you 💕

Here’s a closer look at what I discuss in this episode:

  • What it was like running a business while on maternity leave
  • Insights in my business
  • Advice I would share to female entrepreneurs going through/wanting to go through the same thing
  • What I would do the same… and also differently if I were to do it again

06 Feb 2023Characteristics of our highest-return clients and why you should care00:20:35

I have been in client services for almost a decade, when I started out in 2013 building websites as a freelancer.

Over the years, there are so many mistakes I've seen clients make that make it almost impossible to serve them at the highest level.

This isn't about being a good client to be fun and easy to work with. This is about getting the most out of your investments, making good decisions and heading towards your goals. There are ways that you might be blocking your team from their fullest potential and if you have big goals, this could be the death of them.

This week on the podcast, I gather the top characteristics and behaviors from our BEST clients that get the HIGHEST return on their ads and listed them out on the podcast.

If you have a team, and certainly if you invest in ads, this one is for you. Listen in to see what these clients have that give them the best results on their journey to 7 and multiple 7-figures. Quick hint: ALL of these clients make at least 7-figures a year, and there is a reason for that!

Here’s a closer look at what I discuss in this episode:

  • 5 characteristics that all these coaches have in common to reach 7-figures a year
  • Define “best clients” (highest ROAS)
  • Best practices when working with an ads agency so you can reach the same results

14 Feb 2023When will I get a return on my ads? Variables that affect your return and how to calculate it yourself00:21:04

When should you see a return on your ads? I don't think there is a more asked question 😅

When we make investments, we're often anxious to start seeing that return come back.

When is pulling out too early? Or when are we just wasting our money?

That's what I'm breaking down this week on the podcast. Listen in to know what to expect when getting a return on ads and what that timeframe might look like for you!

Here’s a closer look at what I discuss in this episode:

  •  When you will get a return on ads (spoiler: there is NO specific timeframe!)
  •  Timeframes I HAVE seen from past clients, and their process
  •  Tips and tricks to get you there faster
  •  Different variables that will help (or hurt) you

15 Jul 2019Find what sets your wellness business apart from the rest00:10:05

There is a lot that goes into making your wellness business marketing successful, but there are ways to doom your marketing strategy from the start. Not knowing what truly sets you apart from your competition could take away any chance you had at reaching your business goals.

Some feel they know what sets them apart until they see that their answer is the same as everyone else’s: that they care, or they provide the best service. The problem with this is most people are saying these things and no one can prove it until AFTER you make the sale. So… that creates a pretty tough sale.

In this episode, I walk you through an exercise that will help you uncover your unique value proposition that you can use in your marketing strategy.

02 Sep 20195 ways to create more content for your wellness business00:11:19

I talk a lot about creating a lot of content consistently. It’s sooo important to stay consistent and build a brand of trust and authority through content creation. When using content creation to build authority, you must be consistent. Creating valuable content and then disappearing will hurt your brand and your reputation. When your audience wants more and you are nowhere to be found, you can bet your competitors are taking your audience sooner or later.

Unfortunately, you can’t just create content and it all work for you. It must be quality, which means your creative gears must always be going. This can be easier said than done, so in this episode I give you 5 ideas that can help you generate more quality content.

I kick off this new content series with the top five mistakes business owners make in their content plan. I feel like enough people aren’t talking about this stuff!

They are mistakes I see so often and can be SO frustrating for the person trying to keep up with their content plan.

Listen in so you can avoid these top 5 mistakes and create a better content plan for you and your wellness business.

16 Sep 2019Consistently create high quality content with these content marketing tools00:13:48

As part of my content series, one thing I know that is so important is TOOLS. Different software can change your entire business. The functionality of certain tools can shave off several hours of work, as well as create even better results

I, myself am a tool and software nerd. I will try just about everything for at least a month and I’m always bouncing around. When it comes to content creation, there is SO much out there.

In this episode, I go over four tools that I just love. You will hear me ramble about how much I love some of them and you can bet it’s genuine excitement, so excuse my geeking out!

I narrowed it down to four because you can really go overboard in this area. And it can cost a ton of money. The best part of these four is three of them are free! And the one that isn’t, is one so good that it’s the last tool I would ever give up if I had to!

24 Sep 2019The importance of building an email list and how to get started00:16:36

Building an email list is something everyone should be making a top priority. I know many people are doing things here and there, but they aren’t using their fullest potential and going all in on the idea.

Growing your email list by collecting email addresses from those who are interested in the topics you are creating content about is your life blood of your online business. Some may argue your email list IS your business.

So, knowing how to grow this is a really big deal! In this episode, I go over why you should build an email list and how to get started.

Lead magnets are the best way to do it. You want these lead magnets to be targeted and effective. I have been hired a million times to create them for businesses, when honestly… If you have the time, you could probably make them yourself.

Although, it can be strategic if you have more money than time, I know that’s not often the case for many online business owners starting out. Hiring someone to create a lead magnet for you can be really expensive. Lead magnets require coming up with content, writing, editing, designing, more editing and all of this is usually times however many pages!

That’s a lot of time to pay a freelancer to do it. For some people they prefer to hire out and if that’s you, I offer services for that, but my GOAL is that you don’t have to hire me! Seriously! If you have the time, the most valuable thing you can do is have more control of your own marketing.

Some things need to be done by a professional if you want them done well, but lead magnets? You got this. If you’re interested in my upcoming Lead Magnet Workshop, get on the waitlist or register here:

07 Oct 2019What happens when you take your wellness business online00:18:23

If you’re a wellness professional that has built a practice that you want to take online, it’s essential that you learn to navigate this new space. In order to be successful marketing yourself online, there are necessary shifts you will have to make to succeed.

Almost all of my clients in the past have experienced this transition and the process to understanding where to start is the same. You have to be aware of the differences between marketing yourself locally and jumping into a saturated sea of competition all fighting for the spotlight.

But don’t let that discourage you. While the competition is high, I can assure you, so is the abundance of potential clients, students and customers interested in what you have to offer.

In this episode, I will talk about:

  • The mind shifts you will need to make
  • How this whole online game works
  • Some of the groundwork you will have to put in place
  • Exactly what you need to do to get started

14 Oct 2019What is branding and why should you care00:20:13

When I started my marketing career in the corporate world, the shift in branding grew out the company by 50% after being in business for over 20 years.

That’s a big jump for being so far into a company.

The company steadily grew for years and then plateaued because the world had changed and their marketing didn’t change with it.

This is what happens if you don’t keep up with the trends of what your audience is going to respond to. One heavy shift that has been made in consumers is the desire for trust. We’ve had our many years of pushy salespeople that inspired “No Soliciting” signs on front doors and the practice of never answering a number we don’t know to avoid sales conversations. Now we want authenticity and to gain that, we must have a strong brand.

I see Facebook ads telling people you can skip this step and that you don’t need to do all the things it takes to build a brand and I just shake my head. They are right, but at what cost? At the cost of never building something that brings YOU business. At the cost of having to chase every single lead that comes into your business.

Branding is a long term game, but trust me when I say patience is worth it. In this episode, I break down:

  • Why branding is important
  • What branding has to do with trust
  • The 3 things you have to get your audience to believe
  • The 3 things you must stay consistent in to gain this trust
  • The two approaches to getting leads
  • What branding really is
  • Your action steps to get started on building your brand

If you want consistent leads coming into your online wellness practice, this episode is for you.

21 Oct 2019Where to start when taking your wellness business online00:19:17

Starting from scratch online or restarting can be sooo overwhelming.

There is so much noise out there and the online world is full of conflicting tips. With all of the resources out there, it’s hard to weed through what should be done NOW versus what should be saved for down the road.

Doing everything at once won’t get you very far and doing nothing at all... well, you know. You have to start from the beginning and if you’ve been in business online for quite some time with no results, you might need a restart.

These episodes are my favorite because they are the ones I wish I would have found in my beginnings when working through all the dead ends in the beginning of my marketing career. I just wanted someone to give good advice on where to start. I pulled myself in so many different directions that nothing gained traction. When I found THE path that works for every online business, it was a breath of fresh air and I duplicated it with unique adjustments to grow online business after online business.

Now, it’s your turn. Get the simple first steps formula in this episode and get started on real growth for your business. I go over each step and walk you through JUST what you need to know to get started and nothing more to make sure you don’t get overwhelmed and the path is clear!

28 Oct 2019Who are you here to save? Find your target audience00:17:24

If you’ve ever launched something with no results, you know how frustrating it can be.

You know your stuff is good. I have no doubt that you have amazing things to offer this world. That’s what I love about the wellness industry. You’re out here changing lives and there’s nothing better to do to make a living than that!

When you’re out there trying to share your gift and no one responds, it can feel so discouraging, but trust me when I say, it’s part of the process! And most people don’t get it all right on the first try. Or the second. And sometimes not on the 10th either, but your persistence will pay off here.

The first thing I want you to start with is your target audience. From my quiz results, I’ve seen that many of you say you’ve “kind of” nailed down your target audience. It’s time to go all in and get this crucial step done before you move forward with anything else.

In this episode, I break down the steps to defining your target audience and learning what they need. I will show you exactly what you need to do and give you ideas on how to do it!

Don’t hesitate on this one! Finding your target audience could take some time to evolve, so get started right away!

04 Nov 2019Why you’re not consistent00:19:29

If you have an online business that hasn’t taken off the way you want to, there could be a few reasons.

You’re either being impatient, need a better strategy or you’re not being consistent.

I hear this desire for consistency all the time. As I’ve been going through this research phase in my business lately, I’ve been learning so much about the needs and struggles of my audience. Some people don’t struggle with consistency, but many do. It’s not because they don’t have good habits or they’re lazy. Neither of those are true.

In this episode, I go over the reasons online wellness business owners struggle to be consistent and what to do about it.

I highlight the THREE biggest reasons you struggle to stay consistent and give you the way to squash it. Once you see what’s holding you back, there will be no stopping you.

About Christina Bernhard

Marketing is where I have found my home and what I can do for hours on end without it feeling like work.

I started my career with a journalism degree and running a marketing department in the corporate world. I began freelancing on the side and marketing quickly became my life.

Through my last few years of freelancing and coaching, I noticed a trend of wellness business clients. As someone into wellness herself, I loved these projects and decided to take things to a new level and help as many businesses as I can in this industry I feel so strongly about.

I began the journey of turning away everything that wasn't wellness-related to gain as much experience as possible on projects I love and now it's all I do.

I'm now in a place where I want to make an even bigger impact and serve more people outside of my one-on-one clients. Can you relate?

I've learned from my clients that they feel this way too about their wellness services. So, I'm putting all of my strategies on paper and giving wellness professionals everything they need to expand their business to a successful online brand that attracts their target audience and helps them make an even bigger impact with their gift.

If you're ready to grow this thing, I've got you.
