How is the position designed? How is the budget determined? How does the position become approved under your organisation's Workforce Plan. And better yet, what is Workforce Planning anyway? With so much talk about Talent and Recruitment Professionals needing to shift towards "Total Talent Management" and/or "Talent Advisory", it is important for us to understand the first steps in the process. Fiona Lund peels the lid on what happens behind the scenes, providing you with the basics you need to effectively understand how Workforce Planning is managed. We also have a well-meaning dig at "the happy family" EVP's you see out there! It's a fun and informative listen!
Regular listeners will know about my passion for the Insurance Industry. So who better to have a Chinwag with, than the incredible Kirstie McElwaine from Chubb!
We learn about Kirstie's experience finding her place in HR as a Talent Acquisition and Recruitment professional. From studying HR at University in Portsmouth, to making a move to Sydney Australia, Kirstie stepped into an Agency Recruitment role to gain sponsorship and has never looked back!
We have a-lot of fun talking about her passion for the Insurance industry (she herself was an Underwriter back in the UK), how Call Centre experience helps you be a better Recruiter, and how being empathetic Recruiter is critical in your day to day role.
Finally we talk about the amazing work Kirstie and the team are doing at Chubb, and her joy at helping other professionals re-locate to Australia and live the dream lifestyle she has found since becoming an Aussie herself. 🇦🇺 #TEAMINSURANCE Enjoy!
Today I had a wonderful Chinwag with Bianca Ward from EmployeeXP all the way from sunny Perth, Western Australia.
We talk about non-traditional pathways into the workplace, and share our personal journeys of how we moved into HR. We have a really great chat about what "Traditional HR" looks like, and how this has evolved and changed post-pandemic.
We take a deeper dive into EVP creation and Employer Branding, and talk about how to utilise your people data to kick off your EVP strategy, without a huge budget. In fact, the practical advice given here showcases that we can all commence this process without spending a single coin!

Where do I start with this episode? We certainly covered a-lot of ground! Meet Chris Goulas of Care Recruitment!
I loved this Chinwag - such an incredible Career, spanning sales, customer service, operations, in key leadership roles. After studying Science at University, and completing a Post-Grad in Forensic Science, Chris moved into the Insurance Industry at AAMI. Chris gives us some candid observations and advice that is appropriate for anyone working in the Recruitment Industry. And a rather cool claim to fame, especially for Neighbours fans - Chris grew up over the road from Erinsborough High School - now that alone is worth a download!
The hot topics of 2023 - Talent Advisory, Skills Based Hiring, Internal Mobility, Talent Management and Succession Planning. Happy Monday listeners! Today I was joined by Dave Pytko for another fabulous Recruitment Chinwag!
Picture this- a TA leadership role in a company that grew from 1600 to 7000 employees within 2 years! 1000 active vacancies at one stage! *grey hair alert! This was the reality for Dave in his current role with Scope Australia. And what an incredible job he has done.

Wow! What an inspirational Chinwag this is with "ITA's award winning Talent Professional of the Year 2023" Kaylee Langbridge from HelloFresh ANZ! We talk through Kaylee's history, and her journey as a young Queer person, leaving home at the age of 16 and becoming financially independent while she studied Psychology and Behavioural Science at University. We chat through her experience working in Fast Food (she can make a Meatball foot-long in under 30 seconds) and her corporate experience working in field sales and partnerships. Enter the big monster of Recruitment, that drew her into it's clutches, further igniting her passion for people, and becoming a true "architect of change" We have loads of laughs along way too! Enjoy!
Live from Porpoise Spit! (Tweed Heads, NSW) Who needs some entertainment? Well, here is your fix! Today I was joined for a Recruitment Chinwag by the fabulous Dean Elllis. We have had so many guests, with a variety of different experiences on the Podcast. But this is the first time I have spoken to a Recruiter who ran away with the circus, literally! We walk through Dean's history, from growing up in his parents Hotel in Albury Wodonga, to his high school years living with this Grandparents in Gippsland, and moving to Coolum Beach as a young adult. We kick off his career journey with Dean joining the circus and travelling the world. He then joined the Defence Force, started his own "Uber-esque" IT consulting service, and finally moved into recruitment (keeping up?) So many nuggets of wisdom, so many laughs, and such an inspiring story. Listeners, never be afraid to take a risk in life, and your career! Enjoy!
The Recruitment and Talent Industry is not just made up of the Recruiters that are on the tools. We are a vast ecosystem of professionals in a variety of specialisations. From Marketing to Legal, to Risk and HR. We are a broad Industry of passionate professionals that help make us the fabulous Industry that we all love.
So, I decided to mix it up a bit and have a chinwag with the wonderful Brandon De Souza! Brandon is a People & Culture Advisor within the Recruitment agency Talent International.
A fellow Campbelltown boy (I scream - go team C-Town!), we walk through Brandon's career journey from University to finding his dream role and company culture with Talent International.

Wowee, where do I start with this Recruitment Chinwag? Have you met Sandy Deemester-Pohl? What a journey!
Let's start with her history. Born in France to French/ Mauritian parents, at the age of 7 her creative father pointed at a map and moved the family to New Caledonia. Now the journey begins!
